Lets first say we had a ball. The 3 comedians we saw were pretty funny. Comedy shows are so hit and miss but this was a win show (for us). There is a 2 product purchase for each guest (purchases at the bar do not count towards minimum). Just FYI. We had 2 drinks off the cocktail menu and both were good. (Crystal blue lemondrop and I cant remember the other drink and my pic blurry...sorry)We stop for food prior to the show so we cant comment towards that.Prices were reasonable. The downfall for us was the seating arrangements. Cramped. Sit with people not in your party. Plenty of open tables in back so not sure why they didnt spread us out more (assigned seating). Some people sat in what looked like bus rows.... others similar to stand seating.... but with chairs. You are just sitting on top of one another and for that.... I probably wouldnt return unless seating changed. But thats my preference.
Ive come here a couple of times and they habe some great shows. A long running comedy venue. Its crazy how these places don’t have to evolve with the tines. Can still pack a house into a seedy dark establishment with watery drinks and low end bar food. This time was the first time the service wasn’t good. I brought a friend who had never been . We were seeing Carl Rimi , Friday Aug 2nd 6:30 show, table 26 for reference , if they want to see who our server was. But my friend thought like I did, she just didn’t seem happy to be working. Didn’t even get a name because she was mumbling. Im figuring she knows shes getting 18% no matter how she interacts with the patrons. We didn’t even get a chance to look at the menu, just sat down and wanting to know what we wanted . Drinks cane out really quick , kind of warm margaritas, barely any ice. ordered a flatbread pizza ( more like a big cracker with some scantly sauce , a few tomatoes and balsamic drizzle. Everything was in the middle of the cracker , nothing on ends .The pretzels and cheese were really good ( 2 logs) cheese and mustard.Im still giving Mccurdy’s a 5 star because all my other visits were great and the food was much better. So it wont be my last visit
We have been to several shows and enjoyed them all. I appreciate that they control the boisterous attendees enough to allow those of us who have paid for the show to hear it. Please know that besides your ticket you will have to purchase at least two items in the showroom. (Food or drinks) Also know that if you purchase a drink in the waiting area , it does not count towards this minimum.
First time here, and it was for the World Series of Comedy finals. It was super busy but picking up tickets and getting into the green room lounge was easy. We were sat at our table and didn’t wait long for our drinks. The drinks came out quickly and the beer was ice cold. We ordered a bucket of beef so it would stay cold and we wouldn’t have to bug the server during the sets. Remember it’s a two item minimum at the show (not a two drink minimum).I also ordered there signature old fashioned drink off the menu made with Makers Mark and it was well made. Finally I ordered chips and salsa and I hope they read this and at least consider upping the salsa. It didn’t fit compared to nice environment and cocktails, and it was more like ordinary jar salsa!Show was fantastic, and the comics were great. Only complaint was the website to vote didn’t work for anyone at our table. Great shows upcoming so check this place out!
HORRIBLE. First off the comedians were incredible, absolutely had a wonderful time in that aspect. The horrible comment stems from the fact that when we went in we asked for 2 bottles of water. They told us that it’s a bit pricey and said ordering at the bar had no minimum but if we ordered in the theater it would be 2. So we proceed to buy our waters and go to our table. 10 minutes prior to the end of the show we are approached and told we must order two items per person in our group of 3 so an *additional* 6 drinks. We order tea and the server never mentioned that these were not in bottles therefore we couldn’t just take them home with us. This absolutely ruined what would have otherwise been a wonderful start to our vacation. With that being said we did not see anyone else being forced to have their table piled up with drinks. We were only able to take the two original water bottles with us. Those were $16 and 6 teas were $43.55. So all of that for 2 $8 bottles of water that we could take with us. This establishment is a POS. There was no indication on either our tickets nor anything posted that we’d be required to do this. Had there been we wouldn’t have ordered water when we went in and we would have purchased food. The fact that the bartenders did not tell us we’d have to buy more items was so wrong and the worst part was being interrupted with 6 glasses of tea that are not in bottles and being required to still pay for them. I would highly recommend going to another establishment to see the great comedians we saw tonight. This place is a joke.
Went to the 6:30 Saturday show, the servers are great. 18% gratuity is added in, the comedy was a lot of fun! They explain the rules, which I think, allows for expectations of respect during the performance. There is an attached green room bar area for pre or post show gatherings. I enjoy coming here. Food and drinks are pricey but I’m sure its a standard.
It’s a cool place to see some really great comedians. However, the bar area is so unbelievably cramped, you’re pretty much crammed in like sardines. If you’re not a people person, arrive a little later. Also, I really wished they would clean a little better, I can’t absolutely know for sure, but three days after attending one of the shows, I came down with the stomach flu. While this may or may not be due to cleanliness; it’s one of those things that really makes me apprehensive to attend the shows in the future. The comedy itself is outstanding and filled with a lot of fun. Les is great and very interactive with the crowd which is appreciated. I just wished you weren’t so compacted into an area sitting like you would on public transit. The drinks are great and I would highly recommend the blues brother’s drink. Oh, when you arrive in the bar area before sitting, the bartenders also say the two drink minimum doesn’t apply. So you can either arrive later or choose to have a drink at the bar. For the most part, it’s a nice spot with good service, great comedy, and a piece of Sarasota that shines pretty well.
I love this comedy club. Ive been there 3 or 4 times in the past year. The staff is great service is quick and the food for snacking and drinking its another plus. Now lets talk about the comedians, all of them are great they got top-notch headliners that are funny and all categories. I personally like the later show than the earlier show. It depends on the crowd youre looking for. I was there on Friday night and the opening was Les. He knows how to get the crowd ready for the comedian then after that the headliner comes in perfect. If youre visiting in town and want to get a great laughed stop by if youre a local you already know this place and Im sure youre visiting a lot.
We had a blast here! We were scared we got sat near the stage, but didn’t get picked on, which is good for my husband and I. The manager Thuy is very friendly and helpful. This place was very clean too!!
The comedians were amazing! But the staff really soured the mood. First we were rushed through the doors to our seats. Our waiter wanted us to all be on one check, we told him separate. 1 person in our group was ignored and, only received drinks through the bar area. When we got our checks they were all mixed up, and when getting them corrected, they were messed up even more. We had extra food added onto our bills that we had to get taken off. We ended up getting frustrated and paid for what we had on our bill. And when done we were brought another tab that had an appetizer and a drink on it that the waiter said was open, but at that point we told him we arent paying, considering a couple of us ended up paying for stuff we didnt have. All in all the service was terrible. It really damped the experience and took away from some of the enjoyment of the comics on stage. I suggest looking for another place to watch a comedic act instead of there.
1st time visit, great food choices, drinks were good.COMEDIANS were very funny.Cant wait to go back on another date night
A bit crowded on amateur night, and I keep forgetting that they add 18% gratuity on all orders...But a great venue!Hospitable staff!Always clean, and well managed
Over priced watered down drinks. Money groveling staff. Performers that know 0 boundaries and don’t know what the word NO means. I don’t care how many free tickets you give me I will never go back. Please don’t let your performers grope and molest your audience without consent.
Well I just got out of McCurdys from watching the finally of the open mic competition and the 10 comedians were great. Open mic is every Thursday at 9 pm and its free and no drink food minimum. Ill be on stage tomorrow June 6 and its my birthday. Come out and have some laughs and if Im not funny come laugh at me. 6/5/24McCurdys is a great place to get your laugh on. We saw Mr. Showtime, and he was funny as all. McCurdys is the real deal when it comes to comedy venues. McCurdys hasnt gotten to the point of making comedians hold back so it doesnt offend someone.
Oh boy, do I have a review for you! If youre looking for a night of laughs, McCurdys Comedy Theater in Sarasota is the place to be. This place is awesome and I cant recommend it enough!First off, let me just say that the owner Les McCurdy is an absolute riot. Hes an amazing opener and really gets the crowd going! The moment you walk in, you can feel the good vibes and the positive energy. Les is always walking around, making sure everyone is having a good time and cracking jokes left and right. Hes like the comedy godfather of Sarasota. The venue itself is great, with an intimate setting that allows for a personal connection between the audience and the comedians. Theres not a bad seat in the house, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.Speaking of the show, the comedians that perform at McCurdys are top-notch. Ive seen some of the funniest acts of my life here. From big names like Carlos Mencia, Rob Schneider and, Jim Breuer, to up-and-coming comedians that are sure to be stars in their own right. But the real reason to come here is for the laughs. I mean, this is why you come to a comedy theater, right? The jokes are always fresh, the timing is perfect, and the delivery is impeccable. Its like theyve all mastered the art of making people laugh.Lets not forget about the food and drinks. They have a great selection of beers and cocktails to choose from, and the food is surprisingly good for a comedy club. I recommend the nachos, theyre the perfect snack to enjoy while youre laughing your butt off. There is a two item minimum per person, per show, which is very easy to do with a drink and a snack, usually I’ll have 2 or 3 of each. Paying is super easy as gratuity is included. The wait staff really knows how to work the venue, service is quick.Overall, McCurdys Comedy Theater is a must-visit if youre in Sarasota. Les and his team have created a truly special place that will have you laughing until your sides hurt. So grab some friends, grab some drinks, and get ready for a night of non-stop laughs at McCurdys!
I really enjoyed the amateur open Mike night that Mc Curdys Comedy Theatre recently had . All the comics were local and it was great to see members of the community get up on stage and perform.
The comic was very funny, but Im not going to comment based on that. I suppose that is dependent on whos performingSo, this review is meant for the serving staff. Amazing balance between keeping us served without interfering with the show. Very professional.
This place is a decent comedy club in a great part of town. The bar area is a little small but the staff was friendly. The show was funny with some great laughs.
We went to McCurdy’s Comedy Club and we had a great time. They were actually filming that night for the Comedy Channel. It is to be played back on a future episode. The headliner that was filmed was Helen Kearney and she was marvelously funny. She kept the four of us in stitches. If you ever catch her act you will love her too.
My visit to McCurdys was awesome. A friend and I received tickets to see Jeff Dye and we are so glad we went. I had never been to a comedy club and didnt know what to expect. The bar is great and the bartenders were both really nice. The vibe was really chill and there isnt a bad seat in the house! I cant wait to go back!
It’s easy to get to Sarasota from anywhere in Florida. I drove 200 miles to see my favorite comedian Orny Adams at McCurdy’s. Plenty of parking, great service, family owned and operated…. and they get excellent talent! The place was packed! See you soon❤️
We attended the show tonight, January 6 - 6:30. The comedians were all pretty funny and we enjoyed the show. We only ordered a couple of sodas so cant comment on the food/drinks. Service was fast and friendly. My issue is the seating - its horrible! We dont mind sitting with others, but you are on top of each other. The lady next to me elbowed me most of the night. She switched seats halfway thru but her husband didnt seem to understand personal space. I understand you want to get as many customers as possible but a little space between seats would make the show a lot better. I dont think we will return. Also, if you are a larger person I would not recommend going
I had a great time at the Thursday open mic. Great host, fun room, talented comics. I loved it. Go if you have a chance, sign up and crack some jokes if you have the gumption.
Always enjoy coming for any birthday, anniversary or celebration. Best comedy club 🤩 Food & Drinks are a must! (See what I did there?)
Been to McCurdys a bunch of times and most experiences have been very good. But, the experience I had recently was unacceptable and mind blowing to say the least. My wife and I brought both of our parents to a show, along with my brother and his wife. We were in the far back corner. At one point the comedian had said something in Spanish, my brother leaned over (so quietly that I didnt hear him from a few seats away) to ask his wife what he said, since she knows spanish. And, a second later one of the security guards went over to them, put a hand in their face and told them to watch your talking! in a very aggressive manner. He then literally stood by our table and stared us down making things super uncomfortable for our entire group. While hes staring me down, I threw my hands halfway up at him gesturing what are you looking at?! He continued to stare me down for several minutes at which point I mouthed what the f are you looking at? He then called over another guard and they then proceeded to kick our whole group out. My parents are almost 70 years old and were super confused and frustrated. The loser guard that was staring at us, even put his hands on my mother in law. I asked for manager and when speaking to manager she brushed off everything I said and told me her staff is top notch. While outside of the building, trying to figure out what just happened, our actual server (who we had constant interaction with) came outside and asked what happened, he was as confused as were were and agreed that it was ridiculous. He also revealed that the guy who kicked us out, has been there for just ONE week. The manager who raved about her staff, didnt bring this up conveniently. Should I have not (quietly, without making a peep) confronted the guard for staring us down for several minutes? Maybe. But, I feel anybody else would have been just as frustrated and thrown off as I was and done the same thing. Seems the staff needs to be re-evaluated, big time. The manager was useless and the security dude obviously has some issues and wants a power trip. Pretty dangerous if you ask me. Whole situation is a shame since I loved that place and Wes. Chatted with him after one of the show sand seems like a great guy.
Our visit to McCurdy’s was average at best. First, the comedy was good. The headliner was worth the ticket price and the opening acts were okay. If this were just about the comedy, my rating would be different. The other aspects of the Theatre tarnished our visit. First, there is a two item minimum. Why? If your meals and drinks are so good, why force me to buy? Our meals ($12-$16 each) were overpriced, glorified kids meals. Small portions and nothing special. I also got a soda for a hefty price of $5.50! $5+ for a soft drink that didn’t include refills! That’s another $5.50 if you want more. We left hungry even after our $40+ bill which included a mandatory “tip” of 18%. It’s not a tip if required, that’s called a service fee.Other notes: If you buy drinks while you wait for your seat, it doesn’t count towards your required purchase. The seats are VERY tight and tables are TINY!My takeaways from our visit should revolve around the comedy. Instead it was the ancillaries that tarnished our experience. We drive into Tampa next time for a better experience.
It was okay. The comedians werent very funny, the tables were so tiny, and the little bit of food was okay. The only good thing about it was that the parking was perfect!
Totally ignored me (was it because of my wheelchair???) Doorman was cool but inside staff totally ignored me & wont communicate with me; a friend told me McCurdys ignored her who is also disabled So advise disabled people to avoid McCurdys😡🤬
Awesome 🤣😂 I did not expect anyone or anything to even get me to smile. My BFF/FAM. dragged me to the show. It was great ! From the lighting around the building. The door man! ☺️ the exceptional drinks 🍹🧃🧊🍾🍸🧉🥂 ~☆ in the green room pre- show. The servers, so accommodating, ☺️ friendly, & very quick. Never a empty drink or dirty thing on our table.I cant wait to go again.
Had a terrific night. Only problem was that a couple of the comics spoke too closely into the mic and we couldnt understand them.
The show was great but the drink prices are high. There is a 2 drink minimum, and as the designated driver, I had non alcoholic drinks. They had very few choices, and over $5 for a small unsweetened ice tea, with about the same amount of ice as tea, is a bit much.
I love coming to see Live Comedy. But, most of all, I love coming to see my favorite comedian Steve Byrne. Hi Steve!
Fun night, worth the price! Dont sit close to the stage unless you want to get sprayed with sweat and spit
Went to open Mike night, and it was a blast. Great amateur talent. There was an 83 year old gentleman who was awesome!! And Gingerbread Amy was hysterical. No cover charge and decent drinks. Get there early if you want to sit. The Green Room is little and cozy.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting McCurdys comedy club, and I must say its a fantastic venue. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is incredibly nice and professional. One of the conveniences I appreciated was the parking deck located right next door to the club, making it easy to find parking without any hassle. As for the menu, there are good choices available, although its worth remembering that its bar food, so the options are tailored to that setting. Despite that, the quality of the food certainly enhances the overall experience.Ive had the opportunity to attend shows at McCurdys twice, and both times were absolutely delightful. The comedians were hilarious, and the audience engagement was top-notch. Its a relief to have such a high-quality comedy club nearby, providing endless laughter and entertainment.I am genuinely happy to have McCurdys in the neighborhood. I plan to continue supporting this venue and attending different shows throughout the year. If youre looking for a great time filled with laughter, McCurdys is the place to be.
Great show. There were 3 comedians prior to the headliner! They were all fantastic! Good evening of fun entertainment!
We live in the area and have attended a number of shows .. has yet to disappoint! Just attended another show Saturday 6:30 show and had a great time! The staff is very friendly. Our son left a very expensive pair of sunglasses at our table and did not realize until the next day. Both my husband and son felt they were gone for good and didn’t even want to call the venue. I called McCurdy’s and left a message about the sunglasses….in less than an hour they called me back and said they had them at the box office. Bottom line: it’s not only a fun venue but McCurdy should be proud of the honest staff he has hired.
Dont sit up front if you dont want to get called out! Its fun and every seat is good.
Love this place. The tables are small but they do what they can to accommodate as many people as possible
Have not been but NOT A FAN of waiting 3 months to do open mic. Now Im almost to 20K followers on TikTok 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great show and atmosphere with one exception. The bar area where you wait before to be seated for the show had a stale, stinky and musty smell. A little hard to take if you have respiratory issues or allergies.Staff, food, drinks and show was great and recommend for anyone who needs to laugh!!
Went for hard heart burlesque show. Great drinks. Awesome performances by the ladies
1st time there it was great lots of fun.👍🏻
Love this local gem. Haven’t laughed so hard in a while! Service was quick and attentive.
This is a great fun place to for laughs and good drinks. The staff is really nice, from the Box Office to the Green Room to the Show Room Stage area. Been a couple times already and always had a great time. The cheerfully and upbeat staff make coming here fun, and the comics on stage too. I would highly recommend going and seeing a show or two or more, you wont be disappointed
McCurdys is one of the best comedy clubs anywhere in the country. Top comics in a comfortable environment.
Had only two Diet Cokes in the fridge. Venue was open at 5 for a special event but bar was not open until 6.
My husband and I received complimentary tickets for our wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised that the Preacher Lawson was the headliner! McCurdys brings in the best performers hands down. We see six shows per year average there. Cost of tickets, two drink minimum, no phones, heckling, smoking or young children. Two shows, early one starts around 6:30 usually senior crowd, later show 9ish. Food is low end bar. Its definitely about the performance. Great time!
Kicked us out for no reason.. spending money having a good time .. next thing we know some gorilla type man says we gotta go.. I hope the owner takes a look at the video and see’s that his new bouncer needs to have some job training.. per your manager who we spoke to after we were thrown out ….never will go back..forgot to say the ages our group was is 70, 66, 60, 58, and our 2 sets of adult children do you think we were looking for trouble.. what a joke..I say don’t go…
The talent was great, even the owner is good at stand up. Food was decent. Drinks were good. Seating was terrible—too small tables. Uncomfortable chairs. PACKED IN LIKE SARDINES!
A great spot to spend an evening with friends; good drinks and the comedians were fantastic. The venue is well thought out allowing a more intimate atmosphere with the performers. After several visits, I received a call from McCurdy’s management with an offer for several free tickets - can’t get better than that.
We have gone to several shows here, often bringing family and friends when they visit from out of town. They have some pretty good comics, and have only been disappointed by one in our more than 20 trips. Les, the owner, is pretty funny. The only problem with going frequently is you often get the same “stuff.” I mean, Geno, the garbage man is funny, the first few times.
Our first visit was a huge success. We went as two couples and the place was packed with filming in process. 3 comedians led to side splitting laughter. Food was fine, drinks a bit pricy but a great evening we plan to repeat.
Fun fun fun for all ages!! Prices of food and beverages were very reasonable. Service was very good. And the facility was melt. Well-maintained and clean. Highly recommend for a fun night out with a variety of friends and/or family.
Great place to go and have a wonderful laugh with no worries about the outside world these days! Great experience if youre in town or live here! Definitely join their email list and watch out for some of the greatest names in comedy! It would be great for them to move into a bigger venue but that doesnt take away from the experience!! Must go place!
Visited on January 11th 2024 for the Ryan Belleville show. Fabulous show!! Venue is wonderful as well great set up for drinks and snacks. Staff was well organized.
Amazing date night! The comedians were the best!
The show was great but...EVERYONE at my table was told by staff on several occasions to keep it down. All we were doing was laughing. Its a comedy club. There were four of us and we all were stone faced after that. Very disappointing
Cool place to hang out and break free from routine once in a while.
We first went to McCurdys with friends in the middle of August and we had a phenomenal time! The club has a two item minimum that is strictly enforced, but its food, drinks or a combination. So dont feel like you HAVE to drink to have a good time! The venue is pleasant, the acoustics are wonderful and the atmosphere is very inviting. One thing I like about McCurdys is that if you have a birthday, you might get tickets to see a show! The food is good, and the drinks are too, not too strong, but enough of a kick to enjoy them. The staff is friendly for the most part and accommodating. Rules are explained well when you get there and patrons adhere to them!Overall, great place, good experiences and somewhere I would highly recommend for a night out on the town!
It was Comedy Instruction graduation night. Went to support a friend that was performing for the first time. He did well as did some others and others not so much but it took balls to get up there. First time we were there, had a very enjoyable evening, food & drinks were good and the staff is great. Looking forward to going back for some headliner comics.
Went to my first burlesque show. It was fun but not really my thing. Place was fine.
The show was great. Les McCurdy was on stage and is hilarious. The others were just as funny. Great night out everytime.
They always seem to have great comedians. It’s become a must do thing every time we’re in the Sarasota area. We live almost 400 miles away and we’ve been here three times in an 18 month span. We’d be here every week if we lived closer!
A great comedy club in Sarasota! Got a chance to see Carl Rimi and Les McCurdy make the crowd roar with laughter. With so many big names in comedy stopping by, this is a club to watch the line up for. Cant wait to go back again!
It was a great show! Awesome atmosphere. The food was phenomenal, which if uve been to many comedy clubs you know thats a pleasant surprise. Before the show ever happened I had a mixup with my tickets, I reached out they were so friendly and understanding and fixed it. The service was awesome.i would give a 1000 stars, will definitely return!
Jimmy shupert delivered a comedy routine with excellent timing and well-thought-out truthful ironies. What a great show!!! Sheena was a breath of fresh air with her delivery and material selection. Didnt stop laughing the entire time I was there from all the comics.
Girls night out. Loved every minute of it. Laughed so hard. Great night
Great time. Had complimentary tickets for the late show. Laughed my butt off. Its also close to downtown and all the eateries and clubs so its well worth the entertainment.
Enjoyable experience. The staff was friendly and professional. A tad crowded with a full house. Chairs are minimally comfortable. Food was pretty good! Downtown parking is typically congested.
Outstanding, a great night out. They have a mix of inexperienced comedians and experienced. Food and drinks are very good. Fun time. Definitely recommend.
So I have been here a few times throughout the years and have always had a wonderful time except for my visit last night. I had my entire family threatened in the venue by the table behind us and when I got security involved, they kicked both parties out despite the fact the guy was sayin he couldnt wait to see me in the parking lot. Once outside security did absolutely nothing but block me and my girlfriend from getting to our car. When trying to walk out of the parking lot, the man approached my mother and shoved my mother on the ground before tackling me to the ground with security no where to be seen. It really sucks because I really enjoyed this place but will unfortunately never return due to the total negligence of the team.
A true Sarasota classic that is near excellent, all-round.MY particular experience:Pros: Reasonably priced admission ~$20pp, food ~7-$14 and adult bev ~5-$10. Gut-busting host, impressive headliners and perceptive waitstaff. The modest venue size allows for a more collective and intimate experience.Cons: That intimacy will cost you breathing room 😉
Not the usual fun time. Steve white was great. The other comic was terrible. Making fun of Democrats in the audience- that would be US- how STUPID was that???? He wasnt funny, either, just a jerk. I tuned right out. The MC wasnt real funny, either, just loud and mouthy. The wait service was terrible- late with drinks and food. The food was great, as usual. The saddest thing was, we brought first-timers with us. They will probably not be back.
Worst place ever, dont go here if you want to talk to your wife who is sitting next to you, its not allowed
Always a good time here. Clean and nice environment. Most of the staff super friendly and love the people they have
I can’t say enough about McCurdy’s Comedy Theater. It is a treasure in Sarasota and ALWAYS a great time! Reserve your seat, I recommend the later shows as the early shows sometimes have too many early-to-bed types in the audience with the personality of the undead.
Fun night out, Helen Keaney was hilarious
They say laughter is good for the soul. So true. McCurdys Comedy Club hosted Jeff Dye in early August. We all went to a 630pm show and celebrated our friends birthdays. Dye was sensational. You need to check out McCurdys. A Sarasota gem with a great staff and service.
Went for the first time just recently with family and absolutely loved it. Great atmosphere and the comedians were hilarious. The head liner we saw was Al Ramos. He had us in tears from laughing so hard. I am definitely coming back!
I enjoy this place I just wish they would get some more of these banger comedians in the door. You can go to improv in Tampa or a few other places a bit farther away and see some pretty decent performances the food here sucks my suggestion to anyone reading this is to eat before you come or shot gun one beer in the Car save yourself some money because there is a two item requirement I typically shotgun two beers in the parking garage and use my two item requirement on drinks so that Im pretty tuned up when I get in there comedy I’d better when you got a nice tune going. Just my opinion . The staff has always been pretty nice and cool too thanks for always calling for free tickets too! Just get some more bangers in the door! I’ve seen a few dirty shows here don’t be to afraid to push the limits!! The old mccurdys was mega rowdy wen it was on 41
Was a fun time, followed by open mike night!! Bonus
The show last night was dedicated to someone and all the proceeds were donated to him. Super nice. All the comedians were excellent, laughed alot. As always Mr. McCurdy was funny too! Had a great time as always. Been there a dozen times always a great night out. Thank you!If you have never been you really must go. Laughter is the best medicine 😁🥰
Great comedy venue. Saw Orny Adams here and LOVED his show
We had so much fun last Friday night. Every comedian was super talented and made us all laugh deep and hard. It was a memorable night. The place was packed. Lots of people came away laughing and with smiles on their faces. You’ve got to experience this place if you are in Sarasota or come to Sarasota. Better yet let me take you for a night out as my client and enjoy some laughs together
Great venue for fun, live, local comedy. Drinks and food are reasonably priced and the service we received was great. McCurdys is always a fun place to go, relax and enjoy some laughs. Were very lucky to have this right here in Sarasota!
Great place, always a great experience!
This was the most fun. Free to get in too!! Loved watching and voting for such funny and talented ppl!! Would totally do that again
Its SO GREAT, post pandemic to Les and Pams McCurdys Comedy Theatre filled to the brim snd bustling with laughs! They never disappoint.. 2 drink minimum, table seating.. love comedian Johnny Hobbs, the long time emcee there. Funny funny funny.. convenient garage parking. Kimber in the big office is wonderful. Im a mega fan.
A cool, intimate venue. We did have a heckler next to us, but not for long. Security was polite with the person and escorted them out. Good fries too. Im not a drinker, so youd have to ask someone else about that, lol. They have different comics come in all the time, so Ill only review the host. He was good, engaged the audience, really hyped up the headliner and a likeable guy. Very cool spot, although maybe for a little older crowd.
Celebrated my birthday here with family. Hands down one of the best times ever. Our waitress was awful but the show made up for it.
The host was awesome!!! However, we were harassed the entire time if we spoke a word. It was awful. We loved the comedy, but not being able to speak about anything just SUCKED. I would NEVER recommend this place, our friends who took us here were so embarrassed we kept being harassed!!! Would never recommend to anyone who wanted to speak a word to their dinner party!
Loved the atmosphere of McCurdys! The 3 comedians were awesome! Service was great! First and certainly not my last visit to McCurdys Comedy Theatre!
Always a good time at McCurdys. One of my favorites
Not welcoming to diversity! Stay away!! Marcella (manager) is racist. Apparently the only person above her is Les himself. So sad, this used to be a place I enjoyed. Now its stained with a very racist memory.
Great time! Getting tix online is easy and convenient. Loved seeing Dale Jones, hes hilarious! Oh and parking is available in the Melting Pot garage nearby.
Had a great time! The two opening acts were hilarious, the main act was pretty good too. Food and drinks were yummy, service was great! Highly recommend.
Comedy was great! Everything else was sub par. There was no room on the very small table that we were provided. A couple people in our group had to hold their food and drinks because of the lack of room. We asked for another small table and were told that we couldn’t have one. Very poor service.
Ive seen several comedians here and a few cabaret shows. Staff is great and shows are always fun. If you arent laughing at McCurdys, the problem is you.
We had a great time this weekend. The place is comfortable and the casual food was good. But what made it special was that the headliner, Greg Warren, was clean and very funny. Check out his special on Prime Video.
Just saw Carlos Mencia. Not only was he awesome as usual, but Eugene and Mario were awesome..They should have a standing weekend once a monthWith loveBorough queens Leslie and Jersey Paul XOXO
Flip is Funny was amazing Mr LES Mc Curdy is friendly approachable and funny. Food is pub style but the adult 🍸 drinks are delicious
Just saw Greg Hahn. Have been listening to him on the radio for years. I cried laughing for almost an hour, and actually wondered if I could get thru his act, I was happily exhausted. Hahn is hands down AWESOME!!!!! One word for this guy, WOW! If you get the chance to see him live don’t miss it.
Rating based on last visit 12/31/22 I visited the club before and the show was great so no complaints there. However on New Year’s Eve $70 for a ticket, 2 food items forced to get, 18% tip = $14, already add to your bill and since the drinks were so weak we ordered dobles meaning waitress only came to serve us twice for $91 , table so flipping small split with other 2 people was no room for my cell phone. The comedy part was a total sssshhh show the first 3 not that great and the last one I already seen before so there you go NOTHING words $70x 2. To make things worse we had the seats where people and staff walking in front of you all night long aagghhh so annoying. Advice: I f you can’t comfortably seat your customers don’t sale them tickets period! And stop forcing 2 items purchase down people throat is so greedy! Lot of room for improvement till them not going back period!! I could’ve flown to another state and spend less money than I did in a place that doesn’t even have proper ceilings lol like seriously with all that money Mr. Owner put some decent tables , confortable chairs and ceiling.
You can’t laugh !!!! All they focus on is you making your 2 Drinks!!!! We where harassed for LAUGHING AT THE JOKES!!! Not a good thing & it’s a COMEDY CLUB
Our first experience. Saw Kevin Nealon last night. Wait staff is awesome and desserts surprisingly excellent with generous portions. Try the chocolate cake. We had a great evening there. We will return!!
I took them up on 4 free tickets!!The staff is great, the food and drinks are good and the laughs are plenty! We had a fantastic time!!Thanks McCurdys call me anytime!
Nice place! The green room gets packed quick, so go a little early. The owner was really cool and funny. Almost every seat in the house was a good seat for being close to the entertainment. The seats arent the most comfortable but its a bar/comedy club. Its worth a trip for sure
Great venue, parking is a chore but available. Loved the show. ANTHONY RODIA AND GUMBA JOHNNY are amazing.
This is always a fun night out!We ate here too, had the spring rolls surprisingly very good. Also had the chicken fingers with fries and the brie cheese. All were very good.We will be back
Very intimate setting. No bad seats in the showroom. Sat right at the stage for Rob Schneider and knees were up against platform but it was a great time and worth it. Gratuity added definitely helps expedite paying. Two item minimum but as long as you order asap, you should receive before show.
First time and it was great! Full bar, food and really good comedians! Fun night! Already bought tickets for next time!
A great place for a variety of comedians. If you like to laugh it is 100% worth the $25! Also note you only need to purchase 2 additional items. Doesnt have to be alcohol. Highly recommend!!
First of all let me start by saying I had a wonderful time. My ticket was complimentary along with 2 extra for my best friends! The drinks were very good and the food was nice and hot. The comedians were hilarious as always! Great place, Great atmosphere and I love how Mr. McCurdy actually comes out and starts the show. Highly recommend this place for a good time.
Food was terrible... But the rules of the club ..you have to have buy two items.. Such as food and a drink..or two drinks... Really.. in that case... Then put an effort into your food qualityAs for the comedy acts..3 comedians...2 of them should have stayed home..
I came here for a comedy show for my birthday. I didnt get any free birthday tickets or discounts like they advertise. I was sitting towards the back but thats no excuse for the Terrible service and food. I dont drink alcohol and there was a two item minimum. I ordered coffee and 3 tiny chicken fingers with fries for $12.50+. It took nearly 40 minutes just to get a coffee. We werent even asked if we wanted food! We had to flag down someone just to order two dishes and we didnt even get those until the final act was nearly finished! I will not be returning here for any reason. Not worth the prices or shoddy service.
WE ALL NEED HUMOR during this stressful time. I have been here several times and every time is definitely 5 star! Very accommodating, comfortable and the food is good. I would recommend to everyone!
Good service, lots of space & you can met & greet the comedians. The food is tasty 😋. Each person has to buy 2 items for food or drink. Which the quality & amount you get is worth it. I got coke & the cup was free. The coffee mugs are $6.00. Very clean place. If you dont laugh there then there is something very wrong with your ugly self🤣🤣🤣 !!! I will definitely come back, some of them are famous comedians and the others are rising stars.
Saw Ron White, he was hilarious. We have a blast whenever we go, we have been going there for years. This was our first time in the new location. The prices are reasonable, the drinks are good, the food is good, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Les McCurdy is funny and he is really an icon in our town for building a wonderful comedy club and offering comedy classes and comedy camp.
This place is the best. Its part of my trifecta date with my wife. Dinner, then the comedy show and then upstairs to the melting pot for chocolate fondue.
Ive been here twice and enjoyed it each time.Although they do have national acts, each time Ive gone the acts werent nationally known but still provided great entertainment and were funny. They have a 2 drink minimum which is common for comedy clubs. They also supposedly have a comedy class and and open mic night, I havent attended either of those yet, but was able to hear a winner of their open mic night as an opener one evening and she did a great job.I would recommend this place for sure. Once you go and get on their list they often times call and offer you free tickets to shows.
Typical comedy club don’t sit in first few rows if you don’t want to participate willingly or not…. Opening acts don’t seem to have much of a routine so they will prey on you like seagulls at a beach.Service and food are fine a bit overpriced considering portions but then again this is not a sit down restaurant.Easy available parking even on a Saturday and a separate bar is adjacent if need be.
It was a good time with friends. Les was great, as well as the other 2 comedians. The food was as expected, under the circumstances, but it was good. Its hard to deliver food during a show.
Always a fun place. great comedians
We go frequently, and I would say that our server that evening 11/4/22 must of had an OFF NIGHT, as he skipped over us numerous times ( not sure if cuz we were only a party of 2)?Everyone around us had their orders taken and served, before he even took our order,... and we didnt even have a chance to order more drinks later on..
Nice place. Great shows. Attentive, polite staff. Ive been here for both comedy and burlesque shows, and always seem to leave with a smile. The seating is arranged well, and there is room to move around, unlike many Tampa clubs Ive been to. I will definitely keep an eye out for upcoming shows at McCurdys.
Me and my fiance had a wonderful time. Ive always felt like we are very fortunate to have This comedy club in our area. There wasnt a bad seat in the place. It seems like an awesome place to go for a date every so often or to bring friends To have a good time. And be happy.
There isnt a single bad thing I could think of to say about this place. Every seat in the house is a good view. Ive seen some of the best comedians perform here. Late night shows are always a big hit for date night or a fun night out with a group of friends. There is a 2 item purchase minimum.Drinks purchased in the Green Room do not count towards your 2 items. Fun delicious appetizers and the drinks never disappoint. Sign up for their newsletter and get free tickets for anniversaries and birthdays.Highly recommended visit for both locals and visitors.
Fun place to see a show. Tables are tiny so if you’re with a group and want to eat a full meal, this is challenging. Food was ok. Staff was great, comedians were good, and facility was nice!
Always a fun night at McCurdys! The talent is always so fun, and the staff does a great job of herding people in, serving and seating them just in time for the show. The 2 drink minimum is no big deal, because you are going to be there for a while anyway! We go a lot with groups of friends, and always have a great time! When the show is over, you are close to all kinds of bars and restaurants downtown so you can keep the night going if you want. Its a great night out with friends. :-)
If you havent been here you should go... If you have been you should go back... Legit headliners, great service and an overall dope atmosphere! Finally a place where free speech isnt only accepted but encouraged - thank you Les & Pam
Over all was a great place!Parking was easily available, allowed for easy access thanks to the parking garage next to the establishment. The lady working the ticket booth was super helpful, very welcoming persona as well. Once you enter you come into the Green room pretty much a bar to pre-game before the show. The 2 drink limit does not apply within this section. McCurdys overall was great! Entertainment, Atmosphere and great service all in one
Went to McCurdys tonight with friends and my young adult son. I was a great night for everyone. We will definitely go again. Flip and Bull were extremely entertaining.
OMG this is our favorite place in Sarasota. Every time we go its a 5 Star show. We have never had anything but fun here. We always take company and they have all enjoyed the shows. I am so worn out after laughing the whole show. Thank you McCurdys for the unbelievable entertainment - it make people happy!!!!!!!
Someone needs to tell McCurdy that people arent there to see him; and the same material he does Verbatim every time to open a show was not funny the first time. No one cares that your grandma got the nickname from. That story was told verbatim 3 times now. Club is nice and Every comedian I saw has been very good. But damn, the owner is incredibly annoying.
What a wonderful time I had tonight! My friend ended up receiving free tickets because he signed up for their email newsletter and they had his birthday on file. So whenever they dont sell out a show if you have a birthday or anniversary they will offer you free tickets. The only catch is theres a two-item minimum purchase from either their menu or their bar. Fair trade in my opinion especially for all the laughs I received tonight! Id recommend this place to anybody that enjoys comedy. The food tastes great and it tastes even better while youre laughing.
Always have a good time here.
Our waitress was the only nice thing about this place. The ticket taker was rude & pushy as I was buying an extra ticket. The security guard came over to “shush” us twice and seemed like he was looking for a fight. Horrible night. We left after the first 1hr…..even after spending a couple hundred dollars. Horrible!!!
Always a great time.Very Entertaining!!!Great performances and Hospitality is excellent.Food portions are a little small for the money. But all in all great drinks and a Awesomely Great Time 👍👍👍
I have been here at least 5 times, love stand up comedy. The servers and bartenders are friendly, the food is not the greatest but its OK for what it is. My only complaint is the size of the tables (way too small) and the fact that the place is so packed you cant walk around even to go to the restroom.
First time tonight and this place is a real comedy gem. I can’t wait to come back and I’ll definitely add this place to my must do list with visitors. Les is funny, the headliners were fantastic and it felt so good to laugh and relax. I love this place. We’re sooo lucky to have this comedy club in Sarasota. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time. Of course it was expensive burger and drinks, spring rolls and cake. Every thing was OK. Burger slightly overdone, but I like medium rare. 2 of the four comedians were very funny. Really a fun night.
Saw some comedians here a few months ago. It was awesome and the service was great. Our table got picked on, but it was excellent crowd work.
Its such a great venue with some really big names! The size of the club is perfect! Go there for the comedy, not for the food or drinks.
We came for a show and our friend got really dehydrated about 15 minutes after arriving. He fainted in the bar and the staff couldnt have been any better!!!! The bartenders and waitresses were quick to help and call 911. It is heartfilling to know that they have such great people on their team!
I always have a good time when I come here. I couldnt tell you how many times Ive been to this location let alone the old one. But they always have great comics on stage. I did go on a night where they had graduates from their comedy class. So Ill be gentle with the review on them lol. They definitely have a long way to go but the fact that they had the guts to stand up there and push through 10 minutes segments I tip my hat to them. Not the greatest but definitely got the guts to stand in front of a room full of strangers and either get booed or laughed at. The main guy was Dave Miller and he did very well. Pretty funny guy. Whenever I see that phone number pop up on my caller ID I make sure to answer and get my tickets to go. Cant wait to go back.
They were all great. I would see them again. Can you please send me there names, I would like to follow them. Thanks
Out first two times at this place were very good experiences. We drive down from Apollo Beach even though Tampa clubs are closer we found that McCurdys was in a nice area that put them over Tampa locations and made the extra drive worth it.This last episode we booked in advance for a particular act and that act was cancelled and replaced with someone we had already seen as an opening act. Unfortunately for my group we had out of state visitors and could not cancel our show plans so we stuck with it.The bad part came in when a magic act was booked as an opening show and one of our group was asked to come on stage, this triggered an anxiety attack that made the remainder of the night no so fun or funny for him.The second bad thing is the constant harassment to for an individual two item purchase. Just raise your price and stop bugging us to buy more drinks or food. All I asked for was two complimentary tickets to another future show, it did not even have to be a big performer, just someone we had not seen. And the odds of this happening were very slim to begin with, but it happened. Instead of the management taking this opportunity to take care of a repeat customer, they opted for a quick dismissal and a thats to bad position. Its to bad we will not be coming back since we frequently drive down to the nice restaurants and bars nearby, but will not be booking at McCurdys two item minimum purchase no customer service venue.I was hopeful to have the last laugh, but not in this fashion.
We held a work event here. I emailed & promptly got a response with exact fees & food list. The food was great! The staff was very thorough about how the timeline of the night would go. Everyone was pleased with the night! Thank you, we will definitely host another event here.
Love it! Everytime I go there its always rememberable. My girls and I get a few bottles of prosecco and enjoy the laughter! I would definitely recommend this place as a date spot, a night out on the town or just because you want a good laugh! Nick G, our server was so cool and very knowledgeable. He had our drinks out faster than I remember ordering them. Cant wait to go back!
Loved the two shows I attended which was Paulie Shore and Jamie Kennedy. Staff seemed pleasant and attentive during show. I did not order food but 2 items is required so got San Pellegrini and Diet Coke 13.00 which was fine and 15% gratuity is included regardless of how many people .
I’m not saying this comedy club is horrible, but my waiter was for sure, and the way they handled things was not good at all. The waiter (the lovely guy too old for fake dreads in the picture) never got my order right once. And rude. I left my phone and travel mug at the table when I went outside and he took my phone and started taking pictures. One of the pictures has the girl with my travel mug, which I never got back! It’s 2022 taking someone’s phone and messing around with it isn’t even remotely funny. And not getting my stuff back is theft. So go have fun just watch your stuff.By the way, I was freaked out when I saw all of the pictures he took because I had no idea who they were. I have my whole life on my phone. Keep your hands off my phone!
Great show tonight! The surprise visit with the Smother’s brothers was classic. The MC and host was engaging as always, the opening act and the feature comedian, Rob Little, were GREAT! We will be back - love McCurdy’s!
Love coming here it’s a great night out! Always a good laugh! Customer service is good, atmosphere is great, comedians are always very entertaining! The only reason it’s not a five star is because I still don’t like that there is a two item minimum purchase per person. Other than that highly recommend it!
They called me today asking if I wanted “free” tickets to a show. I know that means you’re required to purchase two drinks per guests when you go to the “free night” offered. What was surprising was I asked questions for possible shows this weekend and others in an attempt to try and buy some tickets IF there was a notable comedian coming to town. She kept referring me to the website. She didn’t realize he hadn’t hung up the phone with me and was ridiculing me to her colleague because I asked about upcoming shows. I told her she and I were still connected and she hung up the phone. No big deal, BUT had she actually practiced some customer service she would have gotten two PAID tickets sold.
Very funny comedians with changing line up weekly. Also love that they keep your birthday and anniversary on file and offer free tickets (up to four) on your special days. They also have drag queen Bingo...lol...you have to see this to believe...a lot of fun. Food is good, service good and parking easy in the gar as he behind the building. From time to time they get some Big names, so get in the email list so you dont miss someone you might want to see.
Entertainment aspect was there - warm up acts and main show were well performed. Food was good, decently priced. There is a 2 item minimum per person which isn’t uncommon for this type of venue. It wasn’t until the drinks came out that I understood why...all mixed were virtually devoid of alcohol. It got to the point my group just stuck to beer since that was guaranteed to have at least something in it.
Visited Sarasota early 2022 and had booked several tickets to a show, was unable to make it and unable to get a refund per the policy. Didn’t think anything of it until I started getting calls a month later asking repeatedly if I wanted tickets etc. I thought it was a kind gesture at first, but I declined, and kept receiving calls and voicemails as far as 4 months after, and I don’t live in FL. Best word of advice, find a different place.
Food is terrible here. Last show I saw comics were ok. McCurdy cant stop talking about legal marijuana in his openers. I know I get complementary ticks, but the main act and food quality were not worth the trip.
Funny as $&@! and great cocktails
I went last night. Tickets were fairly priced. Very cute couple Alison and Flip performed well. I had some good laughs. Although, drinks were way overpriced and weak. Chairs were extremely uncomfortable. Hard to sit so long.
Really good time with friends on a Wednesday night. The opener was the owner of McCurdys and he told some jokes about Sarasota that were really on point. The next two acts were both funny and everyone had a good time! Ill definitely be back!! They also offer open mic night for amateurs.
3 stars, because I think there are things that can be improved on. The prices are jacked up once you’re in the door. The food is high, and I just can’t stand it when establishments charge a tip. I tip at least 20 percent but I reserve the right to adjust my tip amount based on bad attitude or poor service. Also there’s a two item mandatory buy which would be ok if prices weren’t that high. This is just my opinion. I must say the comedians were great.
Every time I go to McCurdys I have a great night. They have local talent to national talent all year round. There is a 2 item minimum (alcohol, soda, or food) per person. Tip for you, sign up with them and provide your birthday and they will usually call and offer you free tickets on or around your birthday, up to 4 tickets can be claimed - worth the 2 item minimum in my opinion.I went tonight (actual birthday) and I had a wonderful time with a friend and I definitely needed the laughs. Thanks to McCurdys Comedy Theatre for another memorable night. I will certainly be coming back here for a well put together comedy show with full service provided.
Really enjoyed myself, laughed at both openers and the headliner. Food was actually decent at a reasonable price. I will go back again.
A fantastic workshop. If youve ever considered doing a workshop, open mic, or just want to become comfortable with standing up and telling a joke you absolutely want to do this workshop. If you want fantastic peformers, headliners and emerging talents, then get ticket ASAP and have a great time.
Some of the best laughter Ive had in years. It is a must visit if you are in the Sarasota area! Great talent! They even have a school to teach How to be a stand up comedian. Reserve early the seats fill up fast!
The staff were efficient & friendly! The host and emcee was congenial and with a good sense of humor let all know the rules and expectations, as well as, introducing the acts! The acts were varied and funny and the drinks were good!! I will certainly go again!
A genuine Sarasota staple! Theyve been part of our community for over 30 years. No matter how big or small the preformer is, you are guaranteed a fun time! They serve food and alcohol and have open mic on Thursdays
Mccurdys is just the place you want to be!! Enjoy the food, staff and beverages. However the comedians are the ultimate reason to sit back, sit up and laugh until it hurts and you cry! We are so lucky to have this gem of a spot to call ours. Thanks so much Les, for inviting us to enjoy the life of just letting go!!😊😅❤
Awesome way to spend an eveningSuper funny comedianBeautiful venueOwner is hilariousWonderful staffHighly recommend going with a bunch of friendsBetter than going to a movie by far
A real homey kind of place where everyone feels welcome (unless you make a fool of yourself, the comedian makes it known). Definately not for the faint of heart or soft people. The comics were the best, and it was really a lot of fun! However, it is a little pricey, but definitely worth it
I attended the show with the half naked dancing men. It was entertaining, but not the best performance Ive seen. The theater is pretty small and the waiting room was very crowded. The decor is enjoyable and the staff are pretty friendly which are the reasons I would return.
Went here for the first time last Saturday for the Orny Adams show. The place was awesome and was very professional. Cant wait to go back!
Great venue. All seats are good plus food and drinks. Free parking right next door too! Keep an eye out for a Australian comedian named Monty Franklin - saw him last night - hes SOOOOOO FUNNY. I hope they have Monty back soon and often.
Another FUNtastic show!! I am never disappointed with an evening at McCurdys! My friends and I always walk away sore from laughing!
