Best pin-up, burlesque, and all-inclusive performances in Columbus! Open mic and open stage nights are phenomenal and showcase so much local talent in the quirkiest bar with some killer cocktails. Don’t forget to ask for a slap shot and a side of pentagram.
An Amazing Venue! The staff are great, the shows are amazing. This venue is a safe and inclusive environment! They also have a creative Mocktails menus
What a show. So many different talents too. Service is excellent. Atmosphere was ok. You could tell it is full of regulars. No food options. I cant say enough about how welcoming the bar tenders are.
Response to business query: Drinks qualify as food since there isn’t a rating option for “drinks.” You DO serve drinks at your bar, right?
A new place for me, closer to my usual hangout, and actually a well established bar. I discovered the place by being invited by a friend for karaoke night.I was treated well and felt welcomed. I may start hanging out here more.
Marla was absolutely amazing as a bar tender and the entertainment was top notch. Environment is really eclectic and welcoming
Once I paid my cover with my card. I waited at the bar for brief moment. Then, i tried to get attention of the bartender by raising my hand specifically to get my card back and all I did was raise my hand. I was accused of yelling and couldnt get service. My girlfriend had to order the drinks and get my card back.Raising your hand is not yelling. The whole experience ruined a good night out for me; shocked for an inclusive facility to be this exclusionary.
Ive visited Bossy Grrls off and on over the years, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Unfortunately, Ive had an experience that changed my mind.I was part of a group who asked for a slap shot, but didnt expect to lose 40% of my hearing because they didnt know not to cup their hand over my ear. Another member has a perforated eardrum and has been bleeding out of his ear for a week.Yeah, I agreed to be slapped, but no, I didnt agree to inner ear and sinus trauma. Thats negligent. Thanks for the permanent hearing loss.Take the slap shot off the menu and for other patrons - dont ask for it.
My husband took me to a burlesque show, Friday Cryptic themed. Absolutely the best time, Ive never been before cant wait to go back. Drinks were delicious. Staff is amazing, the owner is Gorgeous inside and out. Ive never felt safer at bar. So body positive. Do not sleep on this Gem of a bar!!
Super fun bar. Nice owner & bartenders. Safe space for LGBTQIA2S+ and femmes. Love the shows here!!
OMG. So fun, so affirming. Super nice bar tender. Great drinks. Body positivity all the way around. (I needed that) And the kindest best hottest performers. You will leave feeling like there is a doorway to a different more affirming world cracked open. Thats a lot for one night out. If its been on your list, just go!!!!
One of my favorite places to be! Great drinks for everyone. Great entertainment and diverse.
Love love love it! 💕 Great people. Its not really a big space but a great atmosphere.
This place is magical in how open and welcoming it is. I went for a burlesque show, and they were taking canned good donations or seven dollars to watch the show. And the show was marvelous! The performers all had their own styles and none of the performances were like the last. Some were sensual, others funny, a few were romantic and the only similarity was that they were all beautiful. This place is most definitely LGBT+ friendly and I will be coming back.
PROS: Great vibe, welcoming atmosphere, really cool people, very strong drinks (Cincinnati Skyline was GREAT!).CONS: Very, very small space. Small stage. Awkward view/seating arrangement. People were packed in like sardines (because the place had such a cool vibe, performers, and customers), very hot with little air flow, and could be quite claustrophobic and uncomfortable for people who have disabilities or social anxiety.
Sooo much fun!!! We went on a Friday for Karaoke! I wish we would have stayed for Femme’s Giving but the rest of our group wanted to go to Old North Arcade. It is a very queer spot. I absolutely will be back.
Lovely, fully inclusive, safe place for LGBT+ folks. Extraordinary performances! Super fun karoke, drinks, and staff. Go have fun!
Bossy is a great local bar to have a nice drink at. The atmosphere is comfortable, the space small, and the crowd familiar. It is usually quiet, and the frequently changing house cocktails are a perfect blend of crafty and affordable. The beer selection is always interesting and satisfying as well. Occasionally the place hosts loud shows and burlesque, which depending on what you are into is a perk or an annoyance, but the majority of the time it is a friendly place for a low-key drink. There is never a risk in checking it out, as even when it has a stage show popping off there are no shortage of neighboring bars. For those looking for some entertainment, their shows are typically well planned and performed while maintaining a casual, familiar feel.
Truly a superb establishment. Some of the most exciting and entertaining performances Ive seen in Columbus. Ive had multiple unforgettable evenings here, and I look forward to more to come.
Good drinks, service, and entertainment! I went for a drag show on a Monday evening, but there was not seating enough for us at the bar... Therefore we had to watch from a screen in the back room. Really cool murals on the walls though! And clean bathrooms.
I love this place! Geat campy fun. The drinks are decent and people are great. I am a big person so I do want to point out that the place is Narrow. You are going to walk directly next to the stage, if you come in after a show begins that may feel awkward for you if you are anxious about such things, and most of their tables are bar height and there was no foot rest for leverage. Having said that, the shows and fun and people do more than enough to make up for all of that! Definitely go, bring cash to tip the performers, and have a fantastic time!!
Went to this bar to meet a friend for her birthday. The bartenders were friendly and the music was excellent after karaoke ended. Its a narrow bar, so when they host events like burlesque, its not the best but Id hang here on a normal night. The bathrooms are a little questionable on cleanliness. The bars clientele seems mainly gender queer, so if you are comfortable with that youll really enjoy yourself. Otherwise Id recommend another bar.My biggest complaint was even though I had been at the bar drinking for at least two hours to before the burlesque started, they still came up to us and charged us cover for the show. Ive never heard of any bar doing this. Wasnt happy. Also, not happy when the bartender took my drink away which was sitting on the bar while I watched the show and I still had half a drink left. Also, my drink was definitely not as strong once the show started Thats why I didnt give the place a higher rating.
Great bartenders, a little pricy on the drinks, but I dont drink much anyway so I probably am not the best judge on that front. Have had a great time at many different types of events here, from poetry readings to burlesque to drag shows! Highly recommended as a fun place to go on a night out!
This was our first visit, we recently moved to Columbus and was invited to a show! Everyone was very friendly and the bar had a good atmosphere. Laid back vibes and lots of laughs. The Emcee was very entertaining and the Bartender was attentive and fast. Will definitely be visiting again.
Warm and friendly staff, open and accepting atmosphere, unique entertainment, quirky decor, and great drinks. . . whats not to love? One of Columbus best lil gems IMHO. 🌈 Full disclosure, they hired my band to play there when we were just starting out, but to me, giving new artists a chance is just one more thing to add to their list of awesomeness 🙏🏻 love Bossys!!
Great little drag/entertainment bar! Very inclusive of all people. Ill definitely be back!
We had a fantastic time in the space, and the show was amazing, but the bar is very small and linear. Getting through the crowd not only disrupts the shows that happen there, but push people out of viewing range. It isnt terribly easy for people to navigate, when full.We saw a mixed drag event hosted by Rowan St James, and left with sore throats from all of the yelling and cheering we did! There was a really solid line up, and Rowan did a great job of keeping the crowd motivated and entertained between sets. The show started with a flute quartet, and it was really cool.
So much fun! We happened across the Monday night burlesque show and were blown away! The atmosphere is very inviting and the talent and host like no other. I’m already planning our next visit!
Best place for entertainment on the north side! Burlesque and wonderful drinks. Everyone there is kind and accepting and after one night youll feel like you fit in just fine. 20/10 I do recommend
Great mixed drinks and beer. Coffee is also exceptional. The bartenders and staff are very friendly and are quite conversational. They have weekly burlesque shows and the Thursday night Freq dance party.Parking can be a pain for the area, as there is no off-street parking. The setup is a little janky, as it occupies a turn of the century storefront. Imagine a narrow but long space. It can get very crowded at times, but sometimes thats half the fun.
A hidden gem in the Clintonville area, has fun events and shows throughout the week~! The head bartender makes some fantastic cocktails and the shows bring in some serious local talent. Very LGBTQIA friendly and body positive~ 💕
We went here on a Saturday night with a group of approximately 8 people. They were having show that night including drag and a comedienne. While I understand the performers are there to perform, we are at a bar and trying to have a good time conversing. Now I understand if we are being too loud and someone comes over nicely and asks us to keep the noise down, but for the host of the night to get on the microphone and call out everyone in our entire group, embarrassing us and threatening to taze us later in the evening. Then after the performance, this host came over to our table and started to egg-on members of our group trying to pick a fight. We spent $15 to just enter the place, let alone the money spent on drinks. Again, a simple request to quiet down would have done, but to call us out in front of the entire bar and to threaten physical violence because we were apparently interrupting a comedienne during a performance is completely uncalled for and against the law citing physical harm. The staff needs to learn how to control their performers and handle situations properly.
Amazing and interesting performances and great laughs! Such a cool little classy/trashy place. Bartenders were awesome! I travel a ton for work and always love coming back to a place like no other! Fun, sexy and interesting.
One of the absolute treasures of Columbus nightlife! Safe and considerate before and during the pandemic with a focus on performance and boi does their rotating cast of burlesque, karaoke, poetry, drag, trivia and music performers bring it! The owner is a great steward of the establishment which has made great improvements year after year. 10/10 cant miss in Columbus!
Used to go quite a bit before Covid. It was always the most welcoming place! Very quirky and charming.Since theyve reopened, Ive been a couple times. They are doing a really impressive job of creating a safe environment. And they have new drinks, which are bomb. Plus, they renovated during the closure and its even more fun and gorgeous inside. There are not many places Ive ever gone to a bar by myself and felt safe as a female person, but Bossys is one of them.
Most of the bartenders are great but thats about it. I used to love going because of how opening and welcoming it was until i was nearly constantly harassed and assaulted and nothing was being done about it. I had to stop going for my own sake. The abuse was too much. The bar owner favours money over the protection and safety of its patrons and performers.
This amazing inclusive location is the small business we should all hope to patronize or work for. The owner is a strong, intelligent lady that obviously cares about her employees and patrons.I have yet to hear a friend that has visited this establishment have anything negative to say. Everyone keeps raving about how wonderful an experience they have had. Keep up the good work Bossy Grrls!
The bartender, Marla is awesome. She always makes me feel welcome and makes some great drinks. The performers are incredible as well.
Shows are great, staff is great! It was my first time and the only thing I would warn is be aware the space is fairly small, (not necessarily a bad thing,) and parking is difficult on a Saturday night. Their coffee and tea selection is wonderful! :)
Best dancers in town but the bartenders can be a little stank face, looking you up and down while you pay the required entrance fee. I had to stop going after a few interactions of that caliber bc I go alone and that kind of interaction combined with social anxiety will just ruin my whole night and make it impossible to socialize or make new friends.
Love this joint! Female operated, LGBTQ friendly and open to all! Raucous and thrilling performances by local and international talents in the arts of Burlesque, Drag, Comedy, Music and whatever else you can fit on the tiny stage or romping through the isle! A destination for something authentic and uniquely Columbus as well as a comfortable neighborhood haunt for locals before the sun goes down.
This is one of my favorite bars in Columbus! I dont really go out too often, but when I do, I come here for burlesque on Friday nights.Ive taken several friends to burlesque here and all of them have really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is the most female-friendly bar/night life scene Ive been able to experience in a bar. Its divey, but it doesnt feel unclean or disgusting. The bar just has a lot of character and I like a lot of the drafts they typically have on tap.
What an AWESOME place!! Our first time & certainly wont be our last! They were just alot of fun people to hang with, great drinks, environment & place! Check this place out!!The night was on fire with their featured drinks with BLAST ENERGY!! Love the new mixer!! Yummy in my tummy!!
Came here last night for the first time with some friends and got targeted by a predator. The bartender, Marla, immediately swooped in and kicked him out, and I felt incredibly safe for the rest of the night. Its extremely comforting to know that youre being watched out for, 10/10 definitely coming back for another drag show
Me and my girlfriend have come here multiple times and we have had nothing but positive experiences! They are one of the only places downtown we’ve felt comfortable going too during the pandemic because of their guidelines. They require every patron to be sitting at a table unless they’re standing at the bar or interacting with the performers and at those times you must wear a mask. Bossy Grrls really feels like less like a bar and more like a sex friendly Bi- POC friendly and queer friendly safe space during this crazy times.
One of my favorite places in Columbus to see a burlesque or drag show! Amazing entertainers even on open stage nights and a fun and friendly staff that wont tolerate discrimination of any kind. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area!
Small place. Overpriced drinks. Fun ambiance/outlet for your trashy side.We had gone in for drinks and to cool off around 5pm one evening this summer. Around 9pm when a show was about to start they came around collecting 5 dollar cover charge for the show. We had been there for hours and we all found this to be classless and greedy especially since wed come in and spent WELL over 5 dollars to sit and drink that long. Gimme a break.
Love this place, great times whether you are seeing a show, hanging with friends, or as one of the best karaoke on Thursday and Friday evenings. It is quite small and challenging to move around when busy otherwise its a great place where everyone acts as friends.
This is a little bar not to pass up. And if you do it is your mistake. With nightly entertainment great cocktails awesome selection of craft beers you dont want to pass it up.the entertainment ranges anywhere from live music which can be acoustic to even karaoke but they also have live cabaret on certain nights you need to call and ask for the lineup. This little bar just minutes north of OSU campus is a diamond in a rough and you need to go check it out
Ever wonder what ugly people look like naked? Come to burlesque night and find out! (I threw up in my mouth a little.) Plus, you can get a healthy dose of attitude from the repulsive performers. On the positive side, the bartender is very nice, and Soul/Funk every fourth Saturday is pretty cool, and for the most partunpretentious.
The atmosphere is pretty cool here, the music playing is good (Velvet Underground, Black Sabbath, Pixies, etc), they have local bands on occasion. We went on burlesque night- supposed to start at 7:30pm but we left at 8:45pm without seeing anything :(
All-inclusive atmosphere that is loving and supportive. The staff, owner, and bartenders are the best! Love going there for a nice burlesque or drag show, or just to chill out and hang out with friends.
I tried to stop by and grab a drink last night after ledos. I was glad that they served me after hours, but I ordered a mixed drink and the bar tender ran out of the required liquor. She still charged full price and actually refused to make the drink properly! On top of they have a faulty sound system and hostile regulars. My verdict is that you shouldnt spend money there if your not friends with the bar tender; they make their friends drinks with extra and make up for it from shorting normal customers.
We did karaoke here and it was wonderful! Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and it attracts wonderful people! But yes. Please stop by on Karaoke night for a really wonderful time!
The bartender confused me with another black guy in the bar and gave me the wrong card, assuming I was him. Because we both bank with USAA, I assumed it was mine until I got home. When I returned to the bar to exchange the card, the gentlemen was upset and said that the bartender told him I had been thrown out of the restaurant and took his card before leaving, which was a lie. A huge misunderstanding simply because the bartender was dishonest. I will never step foot in this place again and the fact that he believed what she said was extremely sad.
In the couple times Ive been here Ive had a good experience. Fun, dark, cool atmosphere, with nice bartenders. Prices arent great but not terrible. I recommend stopping in and checking it out if you are bar hopping in the area.
Great music! Free wifi and the password is their phone number. Great signature drinks too. Have you ever come on a burlesque night? Think about it. Wont regret it.
Cute place. Everyone super friendly! LGBTQ Welcome!!! ❤️ Definitely will be back. First place in a long time where I felt very comfortable and welcome since becoming a upper bilateral amputee in January 2016. Thank you Bossy Grrls!! 😘
I love this bar. Ive gone on a few different occasions and days. Everyone is always so friendly, happy and they most certainly know how to make you laugh. Perfect for a little night out.
Always a fun place to go!
Fantastic little place, just went to one of their shows last night and had the best time Ive had in three years at a bar.
I went here for a poetry reading, which was great. Pale Ale was like $6 a pint, which is a little much for the poors like myself. Awesome decor though. Seriously loved the brazzier chandelier.
Fun staff, and the atmosphere and decor are very unique! Everyone should come to this place once...I guarantee you will come back! Check their calendar for a burlesque show or for their variety show every Wednesday night!
This is my favorite little pin up bar, the ladys are so sweet and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in Columbus. The cocktails are fantastic!
The staff is always very nice and welcoming to me. I haven’t had a bad experience yet, and it’s an environment that I feel really safe in. The decor of the place is also really cool and unique.
Really cool atmosphere and the staff was nice. They dont have coffee or food and the seating is a bit awkward for bigger groups.
Super fun dive/burlesque bar. Huge, cheap drinks, friendly patrons and great staff (some of whom perform). Good for people watching and more.
Eclectic Clintonville bar that features live music, comedy and other shows. They have an excellent beer , cocktail and coffee selection and serve real good sandwiches.
Great place. Burlesque shows every Monday. Small stage, nice smoking patio. Regular crowd is friendly & welcoming.
Friendly neighborhood bar, mostly locals, visitors are expected to mind their manners. Atmosphere is open as long as you respect people who are themselves.
So Bossy is not going to be a place for everyone. Just know that going in. It is very dive bar-ish. BUT they are a staple in the community and do some really wonderful things with their space I have only had positive experiences here.
Great variety of Music and live acts. Nice Layout. They had espresso which was nice (The Americano was descent). Good Ambiance.
What an experience!! They have different shows depending on the night you visit and I wish I could go every night. Great atmosphere and great drinks.
Small location, but the show is pretty good and the drink selection is decent. Definitely deserves to be on your bar tour.
Coolest joint in Columbus, check out open mic Tuesdays, some very good original musicians. Friendly staff, good beer selection and prices.
This place is hit or miss for me. When its hoppin its always a good time... As long as you find a place to sit. The burlesque shows are some of my favorite in town for sure. Other times youre the only one in there.
This is an incredible little bar filled with Open minded individuals just waiting to make a new friend. The bar is small but cozy and the staff and patrons make you feel like family.
Love love love! Great atmosphere and friendly people all around. The shows are a great time and the bar is awesome.
I’d give this a 5 star ⭐️ but Marla was pretty rude to my male friends. Where all just out for a good time and need kind humans after a tough day.
A hipster bar with live music and burlesque. I dont think its a dive, but its not for everyone. Small, popular, and can get pretty crowded, but theyve got some great cocktail creations.
I love it. My Girlfriend and I went on Friday for the burlesque show. Fun place, close quarters, a little loud, but fun atmosphere.
Lovely place with strong, great priced drinks. Burlesque and Drag, what more could you ask for?? Maybe parking but we all know how the parking is down there lol.
Always a great time, especially when they have Burlesque shows. It is close quarters, but that is half the fun of Bossy Grrls!
Best dinks I ever got here in Columbus. The entertainment is awesome. Loved Beatles v. Rolling Stones night.
It seems every Monday night they have a very entertaining burlesque show! Highly recommend and the drinks were inexpensive
Cute little small bar with very nice, fun and pretty bartenders. Definitely will dance with you while the DJs play.
Not a great place. Shady little dive with burlesque. Used to frequent the place until I found out how poorly some of the employees and preformers get treated. Decent coffee.
This is one of my favorite bars andI dont drink! I come here for the company and the awesome performers.
Love the pin up theme. The bartenders are friendly and are great at helping you pick a drink if you arent quite sure what you would like.
This place is very intimate and small. It makes you engage with other people. Its good to meet new people and experience new things.
Sweet bartenders Marla and Quille. Perfect lighting. Small and cozy front room. Poetry, open mice. Perfect little hole in the wall.
Small, really small, but friendly and inviting. Lots of good draft choices. 1 star lost because the stopped serving sandwiches.
Anytime I come in there they have something super cool going on or just super friendly staff its a good time.
Very unique venue. Stopped by for polka night with a live accordion player/singer and it was a ton of fun.
Always a great time. So many beautiful faces and hilarious conversations between wild entertainment....Love this place
My favorite bar, without a doubt. Amazing staff, amazing patrons, amazing performers.
I rarely enjoy talking to people in bars, but Bossy Grrls seems to always have the friendliest. Its a very welcoming space.
Such a good crowd. So many different types of people. They serve good alcohol and good coffee
Awesome little joint. Great bartender and chill atmosphere. What more can ya ask for :)
Amazing staff! Super nice and friendly. Good selection of drinks and non alcoholic drinks
I. Love. This. Place. Drinks are great, non-alcoholic options exist, and come see Mary St Jaymes on Wednesdays!
Love the place. Great entertainment. Good times good people. Feels like a second home
Woah.. loud passive aggressive complaining about money woes over the microphone and bad attitudes from the staff. No thanks! Left after 10 minutes, never going back.
Intimate setting, very cute details. Came for a poetry reading, will come back for the service and atmosphere
Great entertainment and friendly staff!!! The burlesque shows are a must!
Those monday night shows are wild! This is a great date spot if your date isnt the shy type
Love this place and enjoyed performing here - fun environment and affordable prices for drinks !!!+
Decent neighborhood bar had a bunch of regulars with some good schtick on open mic.

It was awesome had a great time and everyone was very nice and friendly definitely will be back.
The best place in Columbus to meet new people, have new experiances, and to overall have a good time, any day of the week.
Dude with a beard in a dress on stage... My group immediately walked out. We did not sign up for that
Enjoyed the unique atmosphere. The seating is very awkward and uncomfortable though. :/
Great unique mixed drinks and tons of fun events including burlesque!!
Total dive bar, and wears it proudly. Friendly staff and great tunes.
The have decent beer at a fair price. The atmosphere is great.
Low lighting, small stage, friendly atmosphere. Bathrooms are hilarious.
Had a wonderful time and everyone was great! Loved the shows!
Great bar. Loved the Velvet Hearts Wonderlust show
Theres always a show going on here. Burlesque, a local talk show, live music, and many other types of performance. Youll never be in want of a good time.
Great burlesque. Free shows on Monday and a five dollar shows on Friday.
My favorite place for entertainment. They have it all! Just grab a glass of Cofeve and watch
Overpriced. And not enough domestic choices. But loved the atmosphere and live entertainment
This spot is great. Quality open mic. Fair prices.
Always have a great time!

A very lgbtq body friendly open place for people to express them self on stage
Great Bartenders, Good Drinks and Amazing Performers
Pretty great bar. They serve absinthe here!
This is an amazingly inclusive bar, truly a safe place for everyone
If I could give less than 1 star I wouldEdit: I’ve been there multiple times and I’ve got horrible service both times.
Fun place. We came for the game night, and had a nice time.
Good drinks, not too expensive and good shows here
Great service, amazing entertainment, and wonderful, inclusive atmosphere!

Excellent service... Our bartender was fantastic
Not bad for the money, the place is kinda tight though.
Cool burlesque shows every Monday and Friday.

A great alternative sort of show venue!
