I hardly leave reviews but this is a mustTo being with this was bay far one of the most fun nights in Corpus Christi, I had lots of fun. Met great people and employees were outgoing and super friendly. I had lost my phone that night and unfortunately I had to fly out to California the next morning, well thankfully one of the employees was kind enough to mail it to me! I’m so greatful to know Corpus Christi has very friendly people. Thank you whisky river for an awesome night !

Thank you to your staff and patrons, you helped complete our TEXAS holiday. My wife and I had a fantastic evening out last Friday. As a Canadians we saw nothing but respect and manners. The dancers on the floor were fantastic. I love dancing, but enjoyed watching just as much. Too bad the reviews are somewhat negative, we saw all positive.

My wife and I went last night and had a great time. We love to dance, but I must say that watching the locals dance was over the top insane. They are very good.Security is very tight but it not a problem if your not acting stupid or trying to start trouble. Everyone was very friendly.If your in Corpus Christi and you want to dance this is the place to go. We were a little nervous after some of the bad reviews but I can tell you that they must be bogus.

I went to the WR with my wife and 2 other couples a while back. This was our first visit, (it was also our meeting point for the other two couples) I went outside to make a phone call where it wasnt so loud and when I went to go back inside I tripped over the carpet and the bouncer immediately said I was drunk and banned me from re-entering. I understand the bouncers position so I was polite and did not make a fuss but when I requested to speak with someone in management so they could make a better determination to my level of intoxication they just laughed and said Get the GF*#@% out of here. We left and spent our hard-earned money elsewhere. This is not our kind of hangout and we will not be recommending this to our friends

The bouncer are rude especially if you aren’t a local. I’ve seen first hand them kick people out cause they said they gave drinks to a a twenty year old but let the girls stay. I’ve only had one amazing bartender and two good waitresses in about 6 different visits. Don’t even get me started on how it cost $3.75 for every $20 you take a cash advance. They don’t tell you until after you get your receipt.Go to Hard knocks, ropers, our even Murdock’s.

Yall means all. No hate in the lone star state. I cant believe your dress code is so limited. This isnt a school, and the people defending you are gross about it. If youre not homophobic and transphobic, you need to change. I really enjoyed a night til close here, but it wont be happening again because of your policies.

Good drinks, great dance floor. We got there early and danced woth only a few other couples. Leaving early too, so the crowd is starting to gather and its getting a little congested, but we had no problems.

Best dancers in Corpus go here. Biggest dance floor and doesnt play a lot of pop songs so the vibe STAYS country. I love this place and spend every free night here. Haters arent welcome so bye.

I like this place its a good environment and very friendly staff. Never had trouble at all and as a matter fact always had a good time. Not sure why people think their lives matter and wanna stir up a big commotion about the way they dress.. oh well.

Terrible place, terrible service, and terrible policies. Just imagine what they’ll do to a person of color?? When I went with friends I felt rather hostile vibes. I don’t know what it was, but my white friends even could tell. After a few drinks we decided to hit up another bar, because the staff’s attitude towards me was beyond inappropriate. I saw them treat other people of color the same way. Terrible establishment.

Just found out they purposely over charged us for a drink we never even ordered or bought. I was told that’s what bartenders do to give free drinks to their “friends.” Well, shame on you. You can bet that will never happen to us again. Evidently, Whiskey hires shady people who should never be trusted.

I come here often to go dancing. Ive never had any issues with anyone there and Ive always had a good time. The music is current and they mix it up with some Tejano and hip hop towards the end of the night. They teach free dance lessons there on Tuesdays at 7pm.

So when did everyone stop believing in free market? When I see false 5 star ratings trying to protect a business, I cant help but think that this is a new form of social justice. A business should stand on its own, with the policies that its decided upon. That is free market. If it has issues tending to customer needs, then maybe its time for the business to wrap it up. Hobbling businesses shouldnt be protected. It used to be that when management made bad decisions, there were repercussions. Now it just seems they are protected in the welfare state.

Whiskey River has ALWAYS been one of the best places to go out to in Corpus Christi... PERIOD! The staff is amazing, they keep the energy fun for EVERYONE, great drink specials, FREE dance lessons, big screen games etc... I personally know every personality that works there and they truly are a family. Their choice of dress attire is what makes then who they are and as much fun as they are behind the bar working their butts off for all of US!To bring up the elephant 🐘 from the news, as always, blown up into something larger than it probably was, DOES NOT need to now mark the establishment as racist, discriminatory or anything close to that. This is one of the most opened minded groups of friends I have ever had the pleasure of knowing for 15+ years. I do feel for the women that had to remove her makeup, but I’m sure it was for precautionary measures. If she is more comfortable wearing make up, the quickest fix would be to go down to the DMV and have a new Driver’s License Photo taken or Photo ID taken w make on, so she won’t have to go through that again.I’ve personally had to remove masks, wigs, etc... for different events I attended at different bars and restaurants all over Corpus Christi and was not offended. Most places are 21 & up and the staff needs to be able to recognize your face to the photo ID you are showing them to keep themselves and their establishment out of trouble. And just FYI: if a a doorman lets a minor AS A 21 yr old based on their ID, the bartender or waitress that serves an alcoholic beverage to them, would be the one that goes to JAIL. I’ve seen it happen while bartending myself and it is not joke!This is simply only one VERY GOOD reason they HAVE to be precautious with making sure the picture in the ID is the actual person holding it.

This place is dated and needs to be shut down. The staff is awful and there is always Ropers if youre looking for country setting or Club EGO if you want lgbtq friendly but also all inclusive.Few years back my friend who had facial scarring from his time serving our great nation was denied access due to the fact that he had makeup on his face.Their ridiculous excuse was because he looked dolled up all 6 foot war hero of him.Mind you my friend only wore makeup when he went out to reduce the appearance of his facial scars.Their policies are outdated and the only reason this bar is still standing is because racist, rednecks, and cowboys, who dont like anything past the shade of vanilla or anything that doesnt subscribe to heterosexual masculine norms will always come here to feel safe. Take your money elsewhere if you dont fit this genre of overly macho or standard country music fan patron.You need a cowboy hat, some cheap boots, fashion offending jeans and a too tight shirt accompanied by a foul attitude to get through these doors.Oh and lets not forget how rude there are to alternative people. I went one more time to give them another shot I went with a group of friends 3 other women and one man. The man in our group was told that his fedora was inappropriate so he had to remove it. After doing so the bouncer proceeded to tell him he should consider cutting his hair so he would look so girly...you know all 6,2 of him.This place is trash. Drinks are so much cheaper at other bars service is better and the atmosphere is more welcoming elsewhere too.

Any place that discriminates based on gender, sex, race, age, disability, sexuality, veteran status, body size, color blindness, uhhhh having aids status, marital status, education, oh yeah class, like socioeconomic class-that’s a big one-, political orientation-actually, wait, yeah that one is ok to discriminate based on-, but like also a place that discriminates based on hair color, music taste, gender expression, and uhhh like whether you’re Jewish or probably. Umm, oh yeah any place that discriminates based one of those things sucks. I started writing this several minutes ago (I had to look up a few terms in my sociology textbook), so I’m a little hazy on the details, but I think this place doesn’t discriminate based on those things. So with that and the great ambiance in mind, I give it 5/5 stars!

My favorite place to do some serious Country dancing......floor is huge.....bartenders as well as all staff are the best and professional they get the job done,,,,never have to wait for drinks they already know what I want. I love them all. Love the free Country dancing lessons as well, AWESOME!!!!!!....

Pretty sad that people made a bunch of false accusations about a place they have never been to just Bc they didn’t like a dress code .This place is super clean and has a great atmosphere. Drinks are super affordable and the dance floor is always kept clean . Fun place to be and the servers are always sweet ! Try it for yourself and ignore all these dumb fake reviews .

So just yesterday me & some friends agreed to switch up Are night out Game, then It came to me that Whiskey River was a place that popped in my mind!, as soon as the bouncers checked me they then said SORRY BUT OUR MANAGER DOESNT ALLOW MALES TO WEAR HIGH HEELS 👠Me: 🤦‍♀️ Well let me save y’all the trouble and I’ll just get the hell out of here.That’s why places like corpus & Etc will always be plain & Basic! , if realistically if your trying to grow a city then do it respectfully without having PRIDE in your businesses. We’re all just people no need for LABELS!!!! They prove nothing because you are who you are and shouldn’t have to feel ashamed of just being you! 👌🏽

This is a great place to go to if you like overpriced drinks, unattentive Bartenders , a terrible DJ, and rude racist meathead loser security. This place is a total joke, one of the worst clubs in Texas. The bartenders and bouncers should be fired.

I didn’t know makeup was part of a dress code ? Not all guys that wear makeup are gay, there’s ppl who do it for cosplay 🙄 I mean I’m pretty sure they would let a girl who’s not wearing makeup to the club go in.!

I’ve been coming to this place for many years. There is one new door person who was a witness in a case , one which her boyfriend lost. She refused to let me in for her own personal reasons. In my opinion she was very disrespectful and irate at the door. I guess ROPERS it is🤙🏻...😂

I decided to take some friends from out of town here, they were visiting from Houston. Well it was a huge mistake. This place was filled with thugs in the parking lot doing drugs and giving us all dirty looks. When we finally got to the front door the tall bouncer was a rude jerk, i guess thats what you get when you pay somebody minimum wage. We all went in and only stayed 10 minutes - if that. Music too loud , too many drunk fat girls and warm beer, with some of the worst bartenders in Texas. Whiskey river is an epic fail.

Say what you want, do what you want; unless we dont like it. Then you cant and nobody should ever! Way to be different. This bar is a pile of trash and anyone who looked as fabulous as he did that night belongs at a place where they dont piss in the kegs.

This place is outdated and overpriced. I have to wear my cap forward yet they play ghetto rap music? Am I at a country club? I coulda sworn it was a country club. They said I would get kicked out if I wore my cap backwards where am I at school!? Thats bs Houston clubs are a lot better than this.

Great environment. Love going there to dance because there is so much room, but drinks are a little more expensive than ropers. But all around it’s a great environment and a good time!

We stop in here every time were down in corpus. The music is great and the atmosphere is always friendly and lots of fun. We will continue to stop by every time we are in corpus!!

It is not ok to treat people of any gender or orientation. Regardless, of how it was handled. Make up or no make up who gives a dam? Establishments have the right to refuse service, but we have the right to voice our opinions.

Went here for the 1st time last night purchased 2 drinks at the bar, my card was charged $30.00 when it should have been 10.00. DO NOT TRUST THE BARTENDERS! Pay only cash

Ive enjoyed myself at Whiskey River on several occasions while visiting Corpus Christi. Its a fun place to dance.

Way too strict. You cant even have fun there. Plus every drink we asked for they didnt know how to make it or it wasnt in their system.

They have the biggest dance floor, bartenders are all AWESOME, as well as security and of course the DJ.

It sucks and old...dont believe all the 5 star ratings...they recently went on the news begging people to give them 5 stars because they are being sued.

It was a nice experience and even though I was very drunk and throwing up in a trash can outside, one of the staff members handed me a water bottle and found the people a came with.
