I visited Jr’s on a Sunday afternoon with a couple of friends. This is a typical gay bar and one of the busiest and biggest on Cedar Springs. I’ve been here a few times because my gay friends enjoy it. We decided to hang out upstairs on the terrace.I have a couple of critiques about the place. First, the music was very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation with friends. If you’re planning to catch up or chat, it can be quite challenging due to the noise level. Second, I found the drinks to be a little overpriced compared to the decor and service. While the atmosphere is lively and the terrace offers a nice view, the pricing doesn’t quite match the overall experience in terms of value.Despite these points, I had a great experience overall. The bar has a vibrant and energetic ambiance that makes it a fun spot to hang out. The terrace was a nice place to relax and enjoy the company of friends. If you’re looking for a lively gay bar with a bustling crowd, Jr’s is definitely worth a visit, even if it comes with a few minor drawbacks.

The staff here seem to work at two different extremes. While the gatekeepers checking documents are very friendly, the bartenders and waiters are very grumpy with customers.The drinks are also prepared, nothing special, its not bad but nothing special either. But obviously the price is very high.But in return, the very fun atmosphere that this place brings is admittedly wonderful, the only thing is that the MC is quite ungainly when making sarcastic comments that look down on customers.

First I wanted to thank JRs for being a wonderful staple of the LGBTQ+ community for such a long time and Tony was an absolute delight. Sweet proficient and just a wonderful person. He is by far one of the best bartenders I’ve ever encountered. When his bar got busy he whipped out the drinks ordered with ease and grace. Such a delight and will come again.

Love coming here. Dax always makes me and my friends feel welcome. Probably the only down side is the music is a bit loud per my Apple Watch. 😂 but great drinks, food and service.

Dax was my bartendress most recently and let me tell you, she’s a hoot! Kept the line moving, drinks flowing, and the perfect sass we expect from bartenders on the strip. 10/10 would get vodka from again ♥️

I asked for a seltzer and was served a THC seltzer. The bartender did not notify me of this. I was then overcharged on my credit card - charged $15 more than the bill I paid. The restaurant will not answer my calls.

Marquise is a phenomenal human being who helped me find the perfect drink for the afternoon! I have a lot of dietary restrictions and I felt safe having my drink 💕 thank you marquise

I recently visited the JR’s bar and was disappointed by the rude and seemingly racist behavior of the bartender named Dax. I think it is important for the owner to address this behavior; in the event that we were given the wrong name, this person had short dirty blonde hair, glasses and a natural stone pendant necklace- we later saw them exit the establishment on an electric skateboard (as we left JR’s to visit a friendlier establishment).I find it notable to mention that I have been to many bars and have never had such an overtly negative experience . I was embarrassed that I took my friends here (I thought we would have fun, as I had at JR’s many times before). My friends, who were people of color, were not intoxicated; I, myself, was celebrating a medical milestone that limits my alcohol intake. Despite our intentions to tip generously and support service workers, Daxs attitude drove us away.After making comments regarding my medical condition and the language my friends were speaking in, “Dax” didn’t ask us to leave, but instead insisted we get a drink from a different bartender. At this point, my friend didn’t feel like supporting the establishment , so we left. As a business owner and someone associated with a non-profit that supports trans individuals, I found this experience particularly disheartening. Its important for the owner to address such behavior to ensure all customers feel welcome and valued. JR’s is an otherwise fantastic place; I hope the owner can address the situation. If this employee isn’t dealt with , JR’s will either lose business at best , or find themselves in a lawsuit at worst.

Me and my friends came into Dallas today me and my other friend were going to order some food but when we saw the girl vaping over the food and on her phone we decided not to boy has Jrs bar and grill gone down the hill 👎at 12 noon 6-5-24

Bartender cursed me out after asking for a clean glass because my glass was filthy. I spoke with manager who stood there looking slow while the bartender continued to stand on his piss poor reason for cursing me out. We were offered free shot for this disgusting behavior. We politely declined. Do better JR. I will tell ALL of my friends not to support your business.

Dax is great at his job. He was very attentive and knows how to serve. Will definitely be back!

I call this place My Mothership because it is where everything really began for me and it always feels like home.

Was at Jrs on 2.18.2023. Man after Caven sold this place. It has become a dump. When walking around you see things broken and fixed with masking tape. The floor over by the big screen & stairs the wood has buckled so badly. The wall when you go up the stairs in the back looks like they have let people just write graffiti on the wall. Trashy looking. I will never go back to this bar. Its really sad to see a staple bar for the gay community fall apart after so many years here in Dallas. Caven kept the bar up!

The drinks were really good, the food was pretty good, and our bed tender was a sweet heart. She also remembered my drink order which was pretty cool.

Update; April, 2022: Do your best not to get assaulted in front of JR’s. I came across an individual on the sidewalk in front of JR’s who had been punched in the mouth with an open, bleeding wound on his lip. I called 911 and tried to help him and his distraught friend. The bartender at JR’s only didn’t help, he openly mocked the injured individual. Apparently there were conflicting accounts as to what happened, but even so, the bartender’s unprofessionalism was amazing. The owner came, and similarly showed no concern for the injured individual and tried to diffuse the situation with reserved indifference. It was truly disheartening to see, especially when violence against the LGBT community is an ongoing issue.(Previous review) With low-priced drinks on an early evening, the bar attracts a regular crowd with a friendly, laid-back atmosphere. Yet my experience with my bartender was detached and bored. After striking up a conversation with a fellow bar customer, we asked him twice for some simple advice on shopping in the area. Each time he said “I really don’t know” while staring into his phone. (It wasn’t very busy). Overall an underwhelming customer experience..

Came in and had to hit dogs food was great but service sucked and tried numerous times to get a bartenders attention ... I guess that I didnt order alcohol im less to them I dont know ... No one came to ask how was the food and no one refilled my drink ... Great people great bar bad service didnt fill welcomed was ignored by bartenders the last 30 mins... Doubt Ill be back.

My bartender Eric was awesome. Super cute, great customer service, and the best cocktails on the strip. If you come here, ask for him, and tip$ tip$$ tip$$$ he deserves it. Youll see! ❤

JRs is usually my go-to spot on the weekends!I feel at home every time Im in there, very welcoming atmosphere.The bar staff is excellent, and their drinks are reasonably priced.They have a small downstairs patio, as well as an amazing upstairs area!Definitely check out JRs if youre looking for a fun bar in Dallas.

First time going last weekend and felt right at home. Great atmosphere and bartending by Dylan and Nick was exceptional. Several pool tables available if you like to play. Will be going back without hesitation.

If you cannot recognize somebody has a disability with visible evidence, and medical documentation from their doctor, you do not deserve to be in business. I have had multiple tracheotomies due to a autoimmune disease, so therefore I have breathing and swallowing issues. I cannot safely wear a mask, so they had a very less than gracious attitude about it, and did not even try to hear me out or understand. Please learn to understand, before you are understood. I advise you not to go to this restaurant if you have any sort of disability. I expect a decent attitude even if management has no exceptions, also I expect you to tell me alternative service options such as takeout or to-go food, which you did not. You just tell me Im not allowed in the building, and let me walk out the building. Thanks for being so insensitive to the disabled!

We were in the area visiting and decided to stop in, we ordered each a drink BlueMoon beer, Midori Sour, & Tequila Sour. We went in early during the week so there wasn’t a crowd. Service was good. They also had seating outside.

Was a great place to start the night. Seems like a good bar to go and have a chat. The staff were very friendly. Was visiting from out of town and Josh was very helpful in getting my bearings with the bars in the area and places to eat. Will be going back if ever in Dallas

I have read the reviews, and at first I refused to believe what I read. However, as a man of color that tips very well due to the fact that I am in the business, I found this person to be very rude. Im a 63 year old Navy/Marine proud Gay, Black Veteran!!! This wanna be man, working for Caven Enterprise, JRs on Cedar Springs, treated me like dirt. Im not sure how to post his picture, but I will try. I implore if you visit this please let him know that there are plenty of LGBTQ in service.

Some of the employees are a little gruff or abrasive about the COVID rules, but I appreciate most of the friendly staff especially JACOB!! Aside from that, the food selections are reasonable and structured along with the drink specials...I love the friendly, uplifting, fun, and open-minded patrons and its fun to jam to the jukebox music or mingle onto the patio where you can rip that damn mask off! I will be a regular here for now on!!

I came here for a drink before I went to my nail appointment across the street, and to say that the service was way less than satisfactory is an understatement. The bartender helping me (short, blonde guy) didn’t even acknowledge me when I sat down. I had to say “hi! How are you doing” and barely even gave me a reply outside of asking what I wanted to drink. Hardly checked on me, and when I asked for my tab, he acted as if it was an inconvenience to get it for me. No “have a good day” or anything else. This was my first and last time at this establishment, which is disheartening to say as I’ve had great experiences everywhere else on Cedar Springs. Don’t waste your time.

My all time favorite bar in Dallas! The service has always been superior to me and solid spot to have a beer after work. They used to have a ugly barback who desperately was trying to hook up with me, I was elated when he got fired, which meant I could go back to blowing up more money here.

Going to Dallas is a treat for me especially since Covid has taken its toll on my social calendar. A trip to JRs with friends was just the thing that I needed to boost my spirit and feel like things are getting back to normal. The staff at JRs greeted me with a smile and after ordering a vodka & cranberry from Dylan, several other bartenders and cooks asked me if I had been taken care of. We decided to eat at JRs and we sat right next to the grill. I ordered a turkey burger, a salad with chicken (which truth be known was all I REALLY needed because it was so big!) Everything was delicious and the guys behind the bar kept me entertained. (Thank You... Dylan, Nick, Jimmy and Lavi) If you are looking for a fun place to hang out, feel like you are part of the gang and just want to let loose and enjoy your day, go to JRs. Meet the guys that show up each day to make yours brighter.

There are Gay institutions in every cosmopolitan city and Jr’s would be it for Dallas. Always open, always fun, and always a good cocktail. I’m a main bar person, because I love the bar staff, but I encourage walking around. Great place to meet people visiting and the locals.

My time at JRs has been comparable to that of a kings in his castle, even a Karen in her 2021 Cadillac Escalade. Obviously, the service, atmosphere (notably the music volume and lighting) and comfortable seating is above and beyond.But the real shining star--a perfect way to cap 2020--is the new menu item: the meatball.10/10 would eat your meat again.John! Youre the man! And the best server ever.

Great place to hang with friends. Delicious food during the day, especially their burgers. At night, great place to grab a couple of drinks, listen to the music, and chat with some friends without anyone really bothering you. Wonderful staff that treats you like family.

Fun, 2-level, bar with cheap drinks and great service. They have an awesome Sunday Funday and always have popcorn popped. 2 pool tables and a DJ booth help make anyone feel comfortable. A small outdoor area and more of a club vibe on the upper level. Never a dull time!

The employees in the back literally touch the food with their bare hands after taking money. Completely disgusting! The management and employees are disrespectful. Food is over priced & drinks are watered down. How did this establishment last more than a week? I will be contacting the Better business bureau soon. If you want a great experience with awesome food and great drinks, try Bubbas in Mesquite! Thank me later

I was there only got one drink (single vodka soda) for Sunday Funday tried to close out my tab even went to the same bartender on top floor. He told me he has never seen me in my life and he doesnt remeber me at all and closed out all his tabs even though was never given a receipt or signed anything. The next day i saw a charge of 40$ on my account

Jr’s is a really cool place to hang out with your friends. I always have a good time there. And now Dylan, my favorite bartender works there so it’s even more awesome 😊😁

Great huge space with two levels, multiple rooms, and a wonderful balcony from where you can view the buzz on the street. Staff was super friendly and very attentive. Clientele includes everyone which is a nice change from the NYC scene. In close proximity to multiple other gay bars/clubs.

Drinks were way too strong, I wanted food but after looking at the cleanliness of the place and not seeing a kitchen I decided against it. Being a single out of townee that was checking out the scene I was disappointed that this place was not really single friendly. By that I mean to say everyone was in their circle cliques and I just did not feel welcomed at all. Yet the bartenders were very welcoming and it is a diverse crowd of people in a good location.

I moved to Dallas 6 years ago and I’ve explored many entertainment venues and I have to say that It didn’t take Tamar to say this place has some racial tension in the air. I can say I waited at bar while other patrons walked right up and served immediately. Several times I was looked over and server acted like I wasn’t there. I ended up having a white friend order for me and decided it wasn’t worth my time!! I won’t go back!! I’ve never lived in a city where there is so much racial divide.

I dont know what just happened. I asked for a stronger drink suggestion. The bartender/ manager suggested something with brown rum. I said no I dont drink brown liquor. I said how about 1800, the clear one and asked the price. He said 7 so I said cool 2 of them. He brought 2 brown shots. I let him know I dont drink brown again, and asked if he had clear and he said no but OK OK OK . Confused as he walked away with the shots and an attitude, before I could say Thats okay Ill take them anyway. He was gone. My girlfriend came from the restroom and I explained to her. She went to ask him. And he told her I didnt tell him clear. Then I butted in over her to say. I did tell you but you were being fin rude. Do u know I got kicked out for cursing. What kind of bar is this? Dont spend your money where its not appreciated. Thats all I can say.

I have been here once before and had a good time and bartenders were nice and attentive However this past weekend my husband and I went and were completely ignored we sat there and the bartenders helped everyone around us that walked up after we had been sitting there for 10 minutes when I asked for a drink I was told he will get to us we waited another 10 minutes and finally got up and left really wanted to like this place but after this it’s not on our list of places to return to.

I have no clue why people of color go here anymore. The bartenders ignore minority customers and walk right by you to service others. That includes the black bartenders, particularly this one big black woman with blond streaks who apparently is having an identity crisis. Then they charge different people different prices. Spend your money where welcomed.

Im really surprised that this is even an issue anymore, but just watch your credit card statement from this place. The bartender decided to add himself a nice little tip onto my bill. I dont have a copy of my receipt - it wasnt provided and they were crazy busy at the block party so I couldnt really ask for one. Im not going to fight it because one) whats the point and two) he obviously needed that couple of dollars more than I do. Still just sad.

It was very nice & clean. Nice atmosphere but once we sat down at the bar we did not even get acknowledge. We sat there as if we were invisible did not get a hello, we will be right with you. The lady that couldve helped us didnt and they werent that busy. The workers were 2 busy talking to one another and when we tried 2 get their attention we were ignored again. So we got up and left to Woodys.

I was in there Tuesday night for my boyfriends drag performance. I bought 2 shiners and tipped 2 bucks and saw after I left the bartender charged me 3.50 for the tip. 3 stars because I love the queens but c’mon don’t steal my money.

Went here for Happy Hour and was surprised to see that they charge almost $8 for a domestic bottle of beer. So, plus tip youre looking at $9. Call me crazy but isnt that a lot for one beer? Can we say gouging? Bring lotsa cash or several credit cards to drink here. Its sad that this is what Caven has come to.

I was treated so horribly by a bartender named MARCUS! When we asked him for a specific drink he looked at us as if we were speaking a foreign language. I then tried to explain to him the drink we were asking for and he says “idk what you’re talking about what do you want from me”...i then broke down exactly what goes in the drink and he looked at me with a disturbed face saying he doesn’t know what I’m talking about with an attitude. It was simple... vodka with cucumber but he had a problem serving us. I’ve been coming to JR’s for YEAAARS and I’ve never experienced someone with such attitude and no desire to serve us and make money. His body language and demeanor was extremely distasteful and they lost a long time customer. I wish this didn’t happen because i lovED that place but they lost a faithful customer. You guys need to work on customer service or get rid of the employees who don’t know anything about customer service. Such a sad day...

I don’t get it. Most bartenders are sweethearts usloy, stewie, Danny, but We come here to spend money and have a good time not to be talked to like trash. The guy angel yelled at me across the bar (not even his section) said not to throw things in trash behind the bar because he doesn’t like that and I left out the curse words!! If I’m spending money I don’t expect to be treated like that or be cursed out. I’ve never gone to him as a bartender but after being yelled at and feeling this uncomfortable I don’t want to be here while he’s bartending. Customer service is key. And that’s not what I got from him. But I guess he must be part owner to be able to talk to clients the way he spoke to me

I usually love jr’s But my last visit not so much. We got at the bar and started playing pool, we were still mid game with drinks we had just gotten. I wasn’t not aware that y’all close at 2am or we would not have wasted money on a game and drinks we couldn’t enjoy. We had to leave in the middle of our game and drinks because the police man came around saying come on y’all it’s time to leave we are trying to close. Don’t serve me a drink at 1:58 and tell me to leave at 2am on the dot.

Ive had many a good time here over the years. Sadly though, JRs just doesnt hold the same pizzazz for me anymore. The down stairs feels like it hasnt really evolved over the years. I really dislike the new jukebox. I dont understand the why they continue to plat the muted videos on the televisions that dont match the music being piped through the jukebox. I do like the upstairs area much better. It has been updated, and feels modern. Plus being able to open the garage door windows to make it open-air on nice days/evening is wonderful.

I stopped there for lunch and a coke.Omg. The grill looks disgusting dirty🤮. Go look for yourselves. How come the health department hasnt done anything about it.. disgusting dirty.. 🤮💩🤮

We always have a great time here. Once a month we have a themed bar crawl and spend several hours at JR’s partying. Pre-Covid we would go occasionally, but now (especially with Dylan bartending) we go much more often

Not that you have much of a choice these days since real social interaction has been ruined but jrs is definitely not dedicated to getting part of the solution. Got upset with me for walking in although there are no signs that say the witch who was supposed to be at the front wanted me to wait for her to get back from whatever she was doing smoking a cigarette or gossiping or taking a bathroom break I dunno. But she was extremely rude that I walked in and she was not there. Then won’t let you order at the bar, just rude all around.

Went for the Ru Pauls Drag Race tour after party. Had a great time! Drink prices were great, good energy to the place, and everyone was very nice! Would go again..... and again.... and again!

After being a generous patron on multiple weekday evenings, I made sure my friends were tipping the fabulous drag queens, I was refused entrance on a Tuesday due to having my work laptop in my bag with me. It will be hard for me to want to return to this establishment after being refused entry (and ability to tip the fantastic queens) for coming right from work and having my work laptop with me.

This place has always been very accepting every time I go here. When you follow the rules that an establishment has in place, most people have a wonderful time. If you try to ignore standards that are in place for a reason, which are clearly posted prior to entering, then you might have a bad time.In short, have fun here and follow the rules! If you dont care for the rules, you have many other options in Dallas!

Spent money to request a song never got it played , was told to wait and still nothing!!

Of all the bars on Cedar Springs, I have to say that JRs Bar & Grill is probably the best. Classy, clean, and contemporary yet comfortable. Drink was ok but then again most Bartenders arent making Tom Collins all the time.

These people may or may not be racist. These people may or may not have allowed one of the Braxtons in the bar because they thought she was a gangster. IDK, I just now that the next time Im in Dallas, there is literally ONE establishment in the city who CANNOT have my business. Its JR.s Thanks for the news story. Get it together. there are people who are never planning to give you their business and I havent even planned a trip to Dallas. Again, I just know when I attend, not a dime will be spent here. :)

Depending on the night. This bar can be fun. Pool tables, great upstairs patio of the strip. Candice always makes good drinks at the bar. Music is a hit or miss.

Popular gay bar in the heart of Oak Lawn and the LGTBQ neighborhood of Dallas. Great drinks, great music and an always up for it crowd. Gets packed on weekends, drink prices are very good and staff is always wonderful.

Took my friend and myself to they gayborhood for the first time. We were being completely respectable but the workers did not think so. So they kicked us out. We understand that we were drinking, but isnt that what this place is about? We asked for our check multiple times. Horrible service._

Stopped in after Baylor claimed the the Big XII Championship today, Started with queso and margaritas. Remember getting some nachos at your son’s little league game? The best part was the pickled jalapeños on top of the five-gallon can of cheese over the stale chips. Bingo. De ja vu! Ok, the chips were fresh, but same cheese, and no jalepenos. The margaritas were average and did NOT Redeem the queso. Left and had a wonderful dinner across the street at Three Eleven Kitchen.

I came on a Saturday around 6:30pm and all of the staff were rude. Im a very friendly and respectful person and I expect to be treated the same, especially when I come into your establishment and need I mention Im an excellent tipper. Wont be coming back here again. At least not around this time. 👎👎👎

Watch out for this bar!! Theyll run numerous charges on your debit even after youve closed your tab AND left a generous tip. If you contact Christine shell give you a it must be your bank that split the transaction into 2 different charges!! answer.And the Queen who answers during the day is extremely rude. If you are calling regarding an un authorized charge on your card he tells you rudely do you have a pen and are you ready for the email??If JRs would be a bit more honest maybe the bad reviews wouldnt be on here.There are numerous negative reviews on here that plainly state the overages and charges not authorized by the consumer. Caven Enterprises are a corrupt group.

Girl yall go eat lunch here sometime. The grill masters name is Jimmy. He cooks some good ol burgers and they have some amazing fried zucchini. 10/10

I mean, if you are someone who lives in Houston or visiting Houston and looking for gay bars! This place should be either your first or second destination there.

$9 Moscow Mule served in a glass instead of a traditional copper cup ... and served with a scowl. Use to be a fun spot when you hit the “strip.” Better to hit the LGBT dives.

Never a bad time. Always look forward to going there when visiting from Kansas. Friendly, attentative staff. Broad range of clientele makes for a very down home type of experience.

Super friendly bar staff, especially Dylan who is becoming my regular bartender there. Upstairs patio and downstairs parlor meets all of my bar check boxes.

The Sangria x Margarita Slushy machine in the second floor is amazing, a little too acidic cause of the lime in the margarita but it works out amazingly with the Sweet of the Sangria

Absolutely LOVE coming here, especially in the early afternoons. Great people, fantastic music and Stu makes the best drinks in town.

Staff is competent, though the drinks are overpriced. Happy hour is a comfortable group but tends to get pretentious after dark.

JRs has amazing bartenders and staff. Very reasonable pricing for drinks, and the hamburgers are delicious.

The service here is trash. Totally ignored at the bar. Went over to Sue Ellens and serviced right away.

They charge me $32 for 2 Vegas bomb that’s unacceptable.. I ask my uncle which he’s a frequently customer and he said they charge me for 4 drinks !Marcus .H. Was the bartender!!

I knew a Bouncer who worked there part time who Quit because dress code was stereotypical of black culture and hes a Forensic Scientist and a big black man too!
