I am hesitant to even make this review as I live around the corner and know that bad reviews can really hurt a business, but this was just a bad experience.Called up for a relatively last minute appointment for a haircut. Hadn’t been to the hairdresser in about 2 1/2 years. My hair was down to my butt. I said on the phone that I am picky and that I usually end up regretting my cuts at other salons.Receptionist, who is LOVELY, put me in with the owner, Anthony. I told him numerous times that I really care about preserving the length of my hair more than anything else. Only cut off what’s needed to make it healthy again. Give it a bit of shape, done. I explained that I braid my hair in the summer because I swim, so it still has to do that. I explained that I do not have time to style my hair everyday, it needs to be easy to manage. He says okay, shows me that he will cut off about an inch, I say fine, we move on. Next thing I know, I lost over 3 inches of my hair and while I initially thought the cut wasn’t horrible, it certainly is awful 2 days later after the amazing blowout from Emi (lovely job, should have just gotten my cut from her as well) came out and all the product washed out. The hair cut is choppy af. I cannot wear my hair down, curled or uncurled, I also cannot wear my hair up, because it literally sticks out of the pony tail as well as the braid.I grew my hair for years to get as long as it was, it was my literal pride and joy. One of the few things I liked about myself, and now I am stuck feeling miserable all because someone who has been in business for 40 years (this information is from a review further down that I am encouraging you to look at) thought he knew better what I wanted than I did myself. He gave me a horrid 90s cut and then said next time I come back we should talk about cutting a “lob” since it would look good on me - how out of touch when your client told you 2 hours ago that all they care is to keep their hair long.Sometimes being in business for a long time and being resistant to the wants and needs of your customers makes you vulnerable to making bad decisions on their behalf that they end up hating. I will be stuck with this haircut through my graduation, that I have been working toward and looking forward to for a long time.Please do better by other people, because this was not okay! It does not take away from you as a stylist or owner to let someone show you a reference photo or to just do as you are told - you don’t have to walk around the earth for the next 6 months hating your own appearance through no fault of your own.Again - 2 stars only because the receptionist and the lovely ladies who washed and blew out my hair deserve better than to be lumped in with the bad haircut I got from the owner.

Wow! NELO did my hair for my a birthday party. She is incredibly talented. I have never had my hair styled the way she did it. Shes is AMAZING! TALENTED! Shes a hair artist! She did my daughters hair as well...ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Thank you!

Everyone at the salon was super friendly and helpful. The salon is clean and very welcoming, and Julia did an amazing job on my hair. They even gave me a shower cap before I ran out the door in the rain lol. They really care about your hair

Very clean salon, professional stylist and service. Michelle was very friendly and listened to my request and made sure I was happy with everything. She gave me a great cut (layers with curtain bangs ) and blow out.

From your first step into this salon to your last step out, it will be a wonderful experience. I was greeted with smiles at the front desk, then taken over for a consultation with Gary. He listened to exactly what I wanted and asked questions to make sure he understood. He then took me over for a wash with Afya who was just the sweetest woman. After my wash, I was back in the chair with Gary for my cut. As he was cutting my hair, he made sure to ask if I was comfortable with everything he was doing. His calm and focused demeanor made me feel so relaxed, for some reason I knew I could trust him with what he’s doing. After some conversation, Gary said he’s been in the business for 40 years and he loves what he does. I could definitely tell he has a passion and at this point I knew I was in good hands. Gary did the most amazing job with my hair, I walked out feeling not only beautiful but so thankful for such an overall pleasant salon experience.I went shopping after leaving the salon and got so many compliments on my hair. One girl even asked me where did I get it done so of course I gave her the information.

The best salon in town! The girls at the front desk were all very inviting and warm; the stylists are experts. I went to this salon twice to get both a keratin treatment and a cut/ style a couple days later and both turned out perfect. My stylist, Walter, took his time and constantly asked me questions about how I wanted my hair to look like. He also gave his professional opinion and worked with me to find the best look for my hair. He even went as far as to ask the other stylists at the salon for their opinions on my hair type and texture, resulting in the best outcome. The wonderful staff that work here really care for their clients and that shows through their work ethic and compassion. I’m very pleased with the job done and will be going to DeFranco Salon only from now on.

This is by far my favorite salon EVER, I would go from queens to have FERI transform my hair 😍 she is just amazing, she takes her time, always attentive, and puts all her heart into making everyone that enters the salon feel special and gorgeous. Most of my friends went to her and fell in love with how she restyle their look. I assure you won’t be disappointed you’ll be in awesome warm and professional hands ❤️

I am in the process of growing out a pixie, which takes time, patience, and a vision. I came to the salon upon recommendation of another happy client, and had Mandy do my cut and Nicole do the color. Before my first visit, I had a very vague idea on what I wanted to be done cut-wise, and Mandy had great ideas and lots of patience to discuss the options with me. I am very happy with my hair and I get lots of compliments. Thank you, ladies!

When ever i come to your salon i have the best experiences!! I love the color that Nikolas does on my hair and Feri she does a great job cutting and blow dry my hair!! I love them both! They are friendly, funny and they know exactly what to do even if i do not know what i want!

I had my hair colored by Jeri!! She really knows what she is doing!! This was my first time in this Salon. I asked Jeri to make my hair a specific color and she gave me exactly what I asked for. She was friendly and professional and made me feel very comfortable. The salon itself is very clean and impressive. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. I will be going back again.. I have been going to DeFranco Spagnolo for many years! The staff there is extremely friendly and kind. Maria, Mandy and Lori are my go-to glam squad and always keeping me feeling beautiful. What I love most is that I will comein with a request or thought for styling and they will give me an honest opinion on what I should and can do based on the health of my hair and how it should be cut and colored. I highly recommend this talented group of people!!

Great salon 💈 Nick colored my hair did a beautiful job. So happy with his work. I use to go far and spend so much money and my hair color looked like shoe polish jet black dull without life. Nick made my hair shiny and healthy looking again for half the cost!

De Franco salon is The Best hair salon in the area. Workers are very professional; the products they are using are the best. The salon is clean, and they are very friendly. My family members and I have been going there for many many years( more then 20 years) I always recommend my friends also go there. My hairdresser is Feri and color specialist is Nicolas. Feri is the best hair stylist. Not only is she so skilled at what she does, but she’s an amazing person as well. She’s my number one choice!I would highly recommend this salon to everyone. I only trust Defranco with anything and everything for my hair! My hair is my baby and I never use to let anyone touch it. About 5 years ago I decided to get a little cut and blow out and I never looked back! For the last 5 years, Defranco has provided me with affordable yet luxury services always leaving me happy. 100% recommend!

I used Nicole and she is AMAZING- Prior to coming in my hair had tons of Brass tones in it - I wanted a bright ashly blonde... in one session Nicole transformed my hair to the exact color I wanted (also showed her a pic of desired outcome) she was on point, and there was NO damage I was very surprised and very satisfied so happy I found her! Highly recommend :)

Words will not do justice to the EXCEPTIONALLY beautiful job Jen (color) and Ferri (cut) did to my hair. I got SOOOO MANY complements walking down the street, one lady even pulled her car window down to tell me how nice my hair is. My God, (I know its a bad habit) but I cannot stop touching my hair and looking at it in the mirror. This is my 2nd full head of color Ive ever gotten (for the most part its a very highlighted head). The first time I went somewhere else and my hair was fully burned (from the bleach and straightening iron) so I was a little hesitant at first but boy was I wrong, not a single sign of damage. My hair was nice, soft, long and brown when I went in and it was nice, soft, short and purple when I walked out. Ive gotten probably 10 real hair cuts since college and this cut by far is the BEST. Ferri full on explained what she was about to do and explained if I got my bangs any shorter theyd go too far up because of my curly/wavy hair. The customers in the salon kept telling me how nice my hair looked short (since they had all seen my long hair before it was cut). The color tho, I should start by saying I have very dark brunette hair and I know its a pain to lighten and bleaching does damage hair, I have no idea what magic bleach this was but not only did I look like an old lady after the bleaching was done (before the color) but my hair wasnt all draw like and wanted to fall off. Jen really looked for that one purple color I showed her in pictures and delivered. The color looks AMAZNG! THANK YOU!!!!

Claudia and Silvia always cordially help me with appointments even at the last minute. Nick carefully colors my hair for years and does so just the way I like it. Niloo is the best hairdresser for my curly hair! Her haircuts are meticulous and her versatility in styling is amazing. Whether I wants big curls, small curls, half straight or completely blown out, my hair always looks glamorous. I highly recommend Defranco Spagnoli Salon!!

Nikki is the best hair cutter in DeFranco Great Neck. She has creates a hairstyle that perfectly fits my face, and takes me less than ten minutes to recreate at home. I have known Nikki since she apprenticed, and now she is a star⭐️. I also recommend Nicholas who has been coloring my hair since he graduated high school!The entire staff - Claudia, especially, is family.

My hairstylist is Ferri. I go to her for about 13 years now she is awesome She can always make me look pretty and young looking. The hair style lasts for days when she styles it. Love her a lot as a person too. Highly recommending

I found my whole experience at DeFranco Salon to beGreat. The staff is very friendly and professional. I was left a voicemail alerting me to their being closed due to snow. Walter, recommended to me by a friend, did a great job and was a pleasure to work with.

My overall experience exceeded my expectations. My stylist who goes by the name Niloo, was kind, knowledgeable and attentive. These days, whether in a trendy salon in New York or Paris or a hidden little place that you want to keep as your personal secret, the interaction with your stylist is as important as the creation itself. And bid Niloo Adieu, content with a smile on my face.

I Absolutely love this place. Feri takes good care of you and super attentive. Feri listens to what you want and her execution is flawless. She definitely knows what she is doing when it comes to cutting and styling. All the girls are also wonderful in what they do there. I highly recommend going here.

I want the community to know that a awful thing was done to me by the owners colorist Amani she was well aware of the pain and suffering she caused me with some chemicals in my hair I made her well aware of the burning like acid on my scalp and she said only 10 more minutes, I told her again it was so severe, and she didnt even care. I came in late to my appointment and she was very angryangry over my lateness. I feel like she took out her fustration on me. I have been so upset and shocked how I was treated so badly! I have proof that I went to a dermatologist for treatment for all the burns and scabs left behind. This was totally cruel treatment by his worker in Roslyn shop. I feel the truth needs to be told.

I was very impressed with Lily. As a Jr stylist she did an awesome job of cutting and blow drying my hair and I have very long hair. I would definitely recommend DeFranco’s in Great Neck

I went and received 10% discount as a first time customer. Been there three times after. Brought my daughter for a haircut. I had, from their website, 10% Off for all our first-time Customers!When I mentioned to the girl at the desk; she looked at it; told me it was only for buying products. I told her thats not what it says. It says 10% off for ALL our first-time customers. She refused to give my daughter the 10% discount.They were paid the full amount; but neither I nor my daughter will ever return for any services, including their products!

Feri has been cutting my hair for over 10 years. I’m loyal to DeFranco because of her and the entire staff. Feri is professional, sweet, and more than anything, a terrific hair stylist!

It was my worst nightmare!! I looked for the best 5 star salon, my hair was long shiny and I arrived at the worst spa, the owner personally treated me, Antony, he was the one who damaged my hair and with a month of treatment he thought he would fix the mistake that was burning my hair and damaging it. my self-esteem, now I have my hair short and very sad and regretful of having arrived at that salon. I just want to let you know that I do not recommend that what happened to me in this room does not happen to you.My biggest nightmare arriving in this crappy room. 😡
