The overall vibe and food is good but they are pricey as hell! You get the smallest drinks for $14 . The hookah people automatically adds their own tip without your knowledge but the receipt didn’t show gratitude… if you are not paying for a bottle you have to sit at the table instead… I remember being here a few times last year and I fell in love with it but since they changed things around it’s a no for me I won’t be going back. But if you don’t mind good food good vybes expensive drinks and automatic tips being taken out then you would certainly enjoy it here! Just the new way they do things doesn’t work for me. Wish them all the best still because like I said overall the vibes is great!
I had a 5pm dinner reservation. We arrived on time , we stood and waited about 15 minutes until I went over to two employees who are going over a bill with a customer. The young lady that was working the bar, said something pretty rude and went back to the bar. The music was to loud I couldn’t make out what was said. She had short blond curly hair. Wondering if I didn’t take the initiative to go to them how long would they have left us standing there. Then when the other worker was done assisting the previous guest, he seemed annoyed and or frustrated and told me brunch is about over. I told him I was not there for brunch that we had dinner reservations. He then escorted us to our table and shortly after our waitress came. She was very pleasant, friendly and helpful, she mentioned she just came back to work there. The overall restaurant was nice the DJ was great enjoyed the music he played everything not just Haitian music, the music was really loud though, causing us not hear each other. The food was good, a little disappointed that the menu was limited we couldn’t order conch or lobster. Maybe that worked out in my favor. I ended up with jerk chicken plantains and peas and rice with a Mimi Punch my bill was $47.00 not including tip. I can’t even imagine how much the conch that I wanted would’ve been. Another thing they need to update the menus, QR code didn’t even work. I asked how much the Snapper was and was told small one started at $35 so imagine the conch and lobster. It’s really cute inside the aesthetics are there as well.I hate to do this to Black Own Restaurant in February, but I have to tell the truth! I hope that they are reading this and will address some areas in this business.Would like to revisit and have a better experience.
Chwa Hollywood is definitely a vibe. From great food and good music, its the place to be for brunch! Ive been here twice and each time gets better. I had the chicken and red velvet waffles (pictured below) the first time and shrimp and grits my second time. Their lobster was good and flavorful, and I heard the salmon is good too. You can tell its Caribbean infused because all the flavors are on point. I cant wait to come here during dinner to see what their dinner menu have in store 😋.
The music and food is on point, especially the shrimp nachos and the crabcakes. We were greeted with smiles once we walked in. Our waitress was amazing and down to earth.Only down side are the drinks. We tried a couple of their specialty cocktails and they all taste like juice, no alcohol!! The drinks are $18 in a small cup. We were disappointed about that. Bottle service is a must!
5 ⭐ ambitions4 ⭐ prices3 ⭐ serviceThere is potential. The vibe was okay. Dj and dinner. The food was good. I left satisfied. A bit pricey. The establishment can work on the decor. The flowers on the table were real but could have been fresh. They give a decent size portion of food enough to have left overs. The bathroom situation sunk the rating. I felt like it was a club from the condition of the bathroom. Holes in door. Partitions hanging on for dear life and the oder was horrible. That killed the little positive experience. May seem picky but when I spend the kind of money I did. I expect the establishment to be up to be par. I dont plan on coming back because of that. Maybe if they address those issues. All and all I would say give it a try we are all different this is justy honest opinion.
Chwa is definitely a vibe; loved the food, music and the aesthetic🔥. My friends and I had such a great time. Although the foods were a little bit pricey, we enjoyed everything we ordered. We had no complaints except for parking space.Prepare to walk a good distance to get to the restaurant because there are barely parking space in front of the restaurant. Overall, great experience, I took lots of pictures!
Pros: The vibe is amazing. The ambience is amazing. DJ is definitely one of the best I’ve heard in south Florida hands down! Food was great and well seasoned which was definitely a pleasant surprise. Hookah was wayyy better than any hookah I’ve had in south Florida.Cons: service is god awful. they are definitely understaffed and it’s basically one or two people doing everything. Waited forever for everything to arrive but the first order of food. Legitimately almost got up and poured ourselves water.Despite all of that, I’d return for the music, food and ambience knowing everything will take forever. The music definitely set the vibe
First time visiting. A good friend of mine suggested it. I have to say the food was amazing! The vibe, the ambience, the music everything was good. I don’t like the fact that children are welcomed and hookah is being smoked in the same area. That isn’t healthy for children. It is a fairly new place, so staff is short on service. However, I’m pretty sure once they are fully staffed and the ball is rolling it will definitely be a hotspot! I totally recommend if you’re looking to have a good time, celebrate any occasion or just love a good vibe with food. Must check them out.
FIRST & LAST TIME VISITING! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!I was invited to my friends bday dinner on a Thursday night. When I arrived, some of her guests were already there & some ordered appetizers. The waiter Francesca came & took the couples order next to me, which he asked her if she preferred the grilled or fried conch, & she replied both. After they placed their order, she left but came back to take mine. I ordered the conch and griot. When the food came out, I noticed the others received appetizers & mines came out as a full meal! I immediately stated that I did not want meals & wanted appetizers like everyone else. She stated I did not say appetizer, so she assumed I wanted the meals. Why would a person arrive at a restaurant & order 2 meals for themselves when everyone is ordering appetizers? Especially when the sides are exactly the same! I explained to her I couldnt eat all this, nor did I plan to & wanted to sides returned and only wanted the conch and griot alone. She said there was no manager on site & that she didnt have access to cancel the order. She left to get the drinks. While she was gone, my friend at the table said the waiter she had to speak to a manager when she ordered so there was a manager. When Francesca returned, I told her I was told a manager was needed earlier & wanted the manager. Francesca said the manager had left & was not coming until 9:30 or later. She refused to call the manager, & when I said to just take the food back, she said she would have to call the cops for not paying for the food. She also proceeded to tell me the everyone had said the words appetizer which the other guests said, they did not & even the couple that order before me took up for me & told her she was being rude & acting like it was my fault for her mistake. I ended up calling the restaurant while sitting there a few minutes after the waiter walked away. The manager Maritsa answered & said she was onsite. I explained the situation, & she agreed & mentioned how she had been hired to fix the customer service & would only charge me for the 2 appetizers. She also left the sides for me to keep & provide a free drink. I never wanted the sides & only sampled them, letting the people at the table enjoy as they pleased. Maritsa later brought me a bill in which she charged me for 1 appetizer and 1 conch entree. NOT HONORING what she agreed to, which was only charging me for the 2 appetizers & even charged me gratuity. After I told the manager, I was called sweetheart in a condescending tone & advised the police would be called on me for refusing to pay for meals I did not order. In order to not make a scene as the birthday person was at the table & more people arrived. I simply paid the bill & did not wish to escalate further! The food was good, but there was nothing I needed to go back for. I feel that at the end of the day, the waiter did not have any accountability for her mistake, and the manager decided to make me responsible for part of that mistake. The area was busy, & the restaurant was empty outside of our table of 20. So it was not like she could have forgotten what she promised. Even the other guest said they were not interested in coming back after the way I was treated. Never again!P.s. I also didnt like the way my credit card was taken for a long time and not in sight, so I will monitor the transaction & might request a new card.
We came here on a Saturday night for a friends Birthday dinner. Very nice ambience. The food was delicious, although I was skeptical at first. The waiter was amazing taking care of so many patrons. The food took a while but we had our drinks and hookah to pass the time. I had the jerk chicken and Mimi punch, both awesome ❤️🙌🏾. We appreciate the service!! Check them out.
Chwa is a Haitian infused restaurant with tasty dishes! I enjoyed this nice corner lot restaurant. It was clean and the decor was one that of a lounge/ bar. So dressing casual is key because it can go from dinner and dancing as there is a DJ in the restaurant. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Moreover, the food as it was good and well seasoned. We had a great experience eating at this restaurant but we had a few Cons:- Menu option limited ( only a few selected Haitian items are served )- a bit pricey for the portion of food we got- only side option was mushroom rice & fried plantins- Service charge added to bill 23 bucks and not to mention when we split the bill each of us got charged a 23 dollar service charge (service charge should have been spilt among the party)- Small portion of sides was given for the price we paid normal portions should be served.-While we were there we notice three dinner parities going on, so the can accommodate large parties. However due to this it can get loud.
My girlfriend and I was able to sit order drinks and an appetizer prior to others who arrived after our arrival. Waited over an hour plus to receive our meals, only to have it to go and not enjoy the ambiance. If you’re here to order drinks and enjoy music, this is the place to be. The only item this place seems to put out fast is the fried pork and fried plantains. If you’re here for anything more don’t waste your time.
The Good: the ambiance is nice, it’s at a great location, the staff is friendly and the food was delicious. The Bad: We waited 45 minutes to have 1 of our 2 entrées brought to the table. The waiter was gracious and apologized for the entrées not being served at the same time. He offered a free drink and appetizer for the delay. After another 25 minutes, the other entrée came to the table, but by that time the first meal was cold. We had everything wrapped up and took it home. In the future, I hope the kitchen does a better job with timing the food.
I can’t lie! Foooood awesome ! Beautiful people ! I had Griot tacos, and a crack conch, great! Good seasoning, presentation nice. Everyone was nice! 1st time! And I was really empress and I really enjoyed it! I love it!i love the service ! Great music, nice atmosphere with a good service! My First Time and guests what not my last Time! Yummmmmmmmy
The ambiance is nice, music choice is great but so loud you can’t have a conversation with your neighbor without shouting. Drinks were good, the food was tasty but took 2 hours into arriving to get it. They seem to be short staffed. After we got the food our waiter took another hr and a half to make it back to our table where we can ask for a check, which took another 20 mins. Would I go back? Mmm maybe idk. 3 stars
When we came in the place was not ready to receive us, mind it was 30 minutes after their scheduled open time. My guest and I waited for 10 minutes at the hostess and never got welcomed, greeted, or seated. I had to go to the bar and ask for someone to tend to us. After, that first bump and we were finally seated, it was smooth sailing from there. The food was ok, not the best, but good. The drinks were basic, but good too.
For a restaurant that is more in the high end I expect my service to be immaculate. First of all their website is down which is annoying. Secondly the waiter came and didn’t greet his self, he just ask if we are ready. Water wasn’t place on the table, utensils wasn’t placed on the table. My sister and cousin food came before our drinks. Drinks were watered down!! I’m asking for my food the whole entire time what I wanted they didn’t have. Waiter did try to accommodate me however, I was over the services at this point. You can tell this place has a lack of staff. Our waiter was basically the only waiter there.
Arrived for a birthday dinner at 8pm. We had reservations for a table of 25 people. No one welcomed or sat us. After being stared at for a bit, we went and sat ourselves to wait on the remaining birthday guests. No one approached us. Birthday person had to walk over to waitress staff, before we could be acknowledged 20 minutes AFTER they were spoken to by the birthday person. My wing appetizer order was taken at 9:40 and never arrived. I left at 10:50. Water was placed on the table for only 10 people at 10:45.Considering less than half of the establishment had guests and 3 sets of tables were occupied, there was no excuse for this lack of care and service.Beyond ridiculous service.I dont want or need a generic, uncaring response from Management. I need you to do better since base on previous posts, no effort had been made to date to improve serve.
Chwa recently renamed Afro Lounge in downtown Hollywood is a place where your taste buds will rejoice, but your patience might be tested. If you’re willing to overlook service hiccups for exceptional food, give it a try.The drinks – a topic that stirred both delight and disappointment, the flavor barely justified the price tag.Music is too loud, server can barely hear you.Just be prepared to bring your own smile.
Short of staff and it was extremely packed it was a Sunday night so that’s expected. Giving 5 star because this place serves the best conch ever…. I’ve never had a conch this good before. And I am very picky about my friend plantains. Their fried plantains are also fried and crisp to perfection… You must definetly try their grilled conch!!!
This place has the best Haitian food I have tasted had in forever! The manager/chef (I didn’t get her name cause it was so busy) was the reason for the 5 stars. We lucked up and ended up with a new waiter. I was worried at first about his mistakes but she never missed a single beat. The DJs were so on point that every song they played was a hit. I’m definitely coming here every time I visit
This place is so unprofessional , me and my friend went to the bar on a Wednesday were having drinks and some ignorant man started fighting with us the ppl behind the bar sat their and watched it all unfold as he was being very disrespectful towards us when we were literally minding our business. He started harassing us because we were ignoring his hi mami you look delicious comments then he spazzed out because we were ignoring him. The ppl at the bar literally turned around and acted like they were busy . Then the man behind the bar started shaking up with him and applauding him basically . Super Disappointed with their customer service will never be coming again when I visit Miami .
The food was great but the service was horrible. It took so long for us to get our food, the staff seemed like they were here to just be here (some were good). The music was good but if you want to come here reserve a table first!
This establishment did not live up to the description on their website. Someone put a bunch of tables, chairs, and couches in a space to basically create a makeshift club/bar & lounge. Making a reservation, as advertised on their website, was a waste. Our reservation was not honored because they ran out of tables to seat us. We were told that we could wait around and hope a table would become available and left standing there to fend for ourselves. We could see high tables with no chairs and chairs stacked up in corners with no tables. The person at the door was not informative and made no attempt to be accommodating. There was no organization or communication. We found an available spot on a couch in what we later found out was VIP. It wasnt until after we had ordered food and drinks that we were informed of this. We were told wed have to move if we were not buying a bottle. But they had no where to move us to. I guess we were suppose to hold our food, drinks, and hookah in our arms while standing in a corner. After much back and forth with the waiting staff, a table was made available for us. As we proceeded to move to the table, the owner of this establishment decided to make an announcement regarding the so called VIP area and asked that her establishment be respected. It felt like a slap in the face considering there was no respect given to us from the moment we entered. Not once did the owner approach us to resolve the confusion and clear lack of communication. But instead chose to indirectly chastise guests for their staffs incompetence. Aside from the food and music, it was not a pleasant experience. Hats off to the chef and the DJ. My advise....get there early if you want to sit and eat. As for me, it was definitely my first and last.
Cons:They were setting up when I got there and there was no host to greet me. The waitress brought me water that had an old receipt in it. The waitress tried to make up for the mistake and did get me a new water glass but I wasnt going to drink anything at that point.Pro: The food was really good and the music was bomb. The Caribbean flavors were definitely there. The staff in general was great. The DJ is BOMB. He really improved how I felt.Summary: this may not be a family friendly place only due to the fact that there is loud music and hookahs. If you dont care about that its fine. My food and my friends food took about 30 minutes to get to us and food was hot and appeared fresh. This did not bother me because Haitian/Caribbean food does take some time to make even after its prepared and this was fine with me. It appeared to be clean
Food was delicious. I had mushroom rice which was well cooked with Kabrit (fried goat) very tasty and tender and some fried plantains. But they should update their menu cause theres a price on the menu and i got charged a different price on the check which seemed to me that they were trying to get more money out of the customers . I told the sever, they fixed it but he told me that the price went up. Also my appetizer was brought up to me the same time as the entrees which was pointless to me . Other than that everything was nice and the ambiance very delightful
The staff here is extremely rude, un welcoming, and inattentive. I waited about 10-15 minuets before someone even came to give us water at the table. Keep in mind, the Resturant had maybe a total of 5 people in there (including me and my significant other). I ended up leaving due to the lack of customer service. I could understand if it was packed. Literally, it was super empty. I can’t speak on the food because I left and they didn’t even try to apologize or keep the customer. Instead, they said bye and smiled. With service like this, they’ll be closed down any day now.
My new taco spot! After coming back in town from celebrating my birthday I had absolutely no plans but in the very last minute I heard of this place and called. They were more than accommodating and welcoming! They food was great! Especially the chicken and griot tacos. The DJ personality shouted me out and they staff bought our table champagne 🍾 I truly felt like the birthday girl! Great atmosphere and vibes. Highly recommend.
The food was undoubtedly the star of the show. Every dish I tried was a testament to the chefs skill and creativity. From appetizers to main entree, each plate was a delight. However, its worth noting that my visit coincided with what seemed like a transitional phase. Despite the restaurant officially opening at 7, (I got there at 7:35) the restaurant seemed to be in the midst of opening preparations during my visit. The staff wasnt fully in place, and there was visible rearranging of furniture and sound testing happening around us that killed our mood.
I love Chwa. Food is amazing! Atmosphere is definitely a vibe! Ive been here a few times, so the service has varied. I will also say that its kinda expensive! My fave appetizer is $20 and then add a 15% service fee and tip...it does add up. But whenever I come here, I always have a great time!
We went to celebrate a friends birthday. We waited for more than 30 minutes for someone to attend to us, and more than to get our drinks. The worst was we put in our dinner orderwaited for 2 hrs to be told from the waiter that we did not order. Real terrible service and will not return.
This place has such an opportunity to be a great spot, but it lacks good customer service. The food was delicious, drinks were good, hookah was on point and dj was ok.I had such a great time with some friends that I overlooked the lack of good quality customer service. My advice to the owner is that to look for experienced servers and bartenders that knows what theyre doing.
You will regret even paying a dime here this place is TRASH TRASH. Theres plenty other places that are far more better than this one you will regret stepping a foot in here. Management is bad customer service is piss poor dont waste your time coming here this place USE TO BE GOOD ITS TRASH NOW JUST DONT COME HERE YOU WILL BE PAYING SO MUCH FOR SO LITTLE THIS PLACE IS UNPROFESSIONAL VERY UNPROFESSIONAL
I was here for a Christmas 🎄 celebration, if you like things on the spicy side, this is for you. However, everything was flavored nicely. I had the chicken wings and they were crispy, big, tasty and juicy!! These werent super spicy, they were delicious.
2nd time going there and absolute same service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Went in on a Wednesday night and the service was terrible. My food took 2 hours to come and I ordered a bottle of patron and they took another 45 mins to bring that. When you go to bar they completely ignore you and everyone act like they just so busy. The DJ and music is the only thing good there and you still cant enjoy that on an empty stomach. My group and I was so pissed we couldnt even enjoy the atmosphere. I repeat if you hungry I advise you eat before you get there or youll be like us, angry and starving.
If I could rate this place 0 stars I would! We were seated at our reservation time but that was the only good thing about the staff at this place. It took our waitress an hour to greet us and all she did was take our hookah order. The host ended up taking our food and drink order and he was having trouble doing that. Our drinks took another 45min to an hour to come and then our food took another 2 hours and was wrong! The customer service was horrible! The music was good but the DJ kept repeating songs. Our food took so long I ended up leaving with the plate because a Togo box took over 20 min! I’ve been waiting to try this place and was highly disappointed for not only a black establishment but a Haitian one. I would never return and never recommend anyone there either. Save your time, energy, and money!
The atmosphere was definitely live. The music was diverse and on point. The service was great and the food was delicious, although a bit on the salty side. I would have preferred the plantains made fresh but... whatever. I will definitely return!
I payed tO see 5lan last night. I left at 1235 and they still didnt perform 🙃 we got there at 9:30PM and didnt eat til almost 1130 half the menu wasnt available like Im so embarrassed because I hyped this place up to people and they was disappointed SMH NEVER AGAIN oh and the music/DJ sucked
CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TRASH!!A few friends and I went for the Wednesday night $5 special. When we got seated, we had to ask for the $5 special menu and the waitress had the biggest attitude when we asked for the menu as if we were bothering her. She didn’t even give us real menu, instead she airdropped a small version of the menu to us which I think was very unprofessional. We ordered our drinks and food at one time and waited 35-40 min just to receive our drinks. Mind you the restaurant was not that busy at the time. We were constantly looking for our waitress throughout the night to be assisted but we could never find her. We honestly thought she might of left for the night because we did not see her for over an hour. Over all the food was good but service plays a big part as well.
Never, never going back there.Badge for service, bad food and too costly. We ordered 2 fruits drinks. I drink failed the waitress didnt want to replace it.. 2 little fried conch appetizers a small fish to go, cost 167.00.To get 5 stars reviews, you have to give 5 stars services,5 stars food at a fare price.
This restaurant has potential but they need to start paying attention to details. You can not charge $40-70 for plate and your serving paper cup and straws on the table. We ordered diri jonjon but was served pois kolè , after serving was told that the didnt have jonjon. Plastic flowers on the table, not enough paper towel in the bathroom to wipe my hands. The plate that the rice was served is too small, rice fell everywhere on the table. My rice that was served this evening was cold, the food was luke warm. The only hot item was the plantains. The Food was ok, they really need to train their staff a little more. Like I said, this restaurant has potential, but unless the start paying attention to the fine details, this hot stop will dwindle down. Not sure if Im coming break again, but I hope you adhear to the advice. You have a chance to grow this restaurant with the different clientele, but if you wontcontinue to charge high end foods but the rest is mediocre, you wil NOT last.
No FOOD! Everything we tried to order on the menu, they supposedly didn’t have or ran out. The same goes for the liquor. What kind of restaurant does that? And then when they realized we didn’t want to order anything else as an alternative, everything magically appeared and they now had all of the food we were requesting. This restaurant would be good if they actually had the food they say they serve on the menu.
Had Sunday Brunch. The food was delicious, the portion was decent. The drinks were tasty. The atmosphere & music were a vibe. It was nice to see fresh flowers on the tables! I will definitely try out their dinner menu next.
Omg I don’t even know where to start!!Wasn’t that busy & wait to be seated was 30 MINUTES! They only have 1 server, ONE doing everything. Sat down for 1 hr until WATER was offered. Didn’t get the WATER until 1 hr LATER. It’s as if there’s only 1 worker back there and that is very sad. At that point my party was completely over it. This is RIDICULOUS & I honestly don’t even know how they’re still in business. Everyone you ask will always let you know if you want to waste my day go to CHWA. NEVER AGAIN, even if it was the only option. The only good thing about it was the DJ. SMH SMH SMH
The vibe at Chwa was exactly what I needed after a crazy week at work. The atmosphere was inviting. It was a twist between a Modern Restaurant and Haitian cuisine. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The food was delicious. I was licking my fingers and I didn’t want anything to go to Waste, because everything was so delicious and the drinks are refreshing. Alejandro was our server and he was so sweet and so nice… my girls and I will definitely be returning for a planned girls night out at chwa!
First time visiting that restaurant, first impression was delight and music was on point, atmosphere was very welcoming! My husband had a fish, plantain, rice and salad. WOW! Que Rico. I had griots. That food was too much and we devoured everything.. Waitress Virginia was fabulous and very helpful. The chef deserves to be recognized for the great work!
Well first off they didnt have any food or enough drinks by time my dad ordered his second beer they didnt have any more he didnt even have plantains so anything we ordered we had to get grits. The grits really wasnt cook well The salmon was okay but dry they put it on a bed of lettuce It didnt look appealing It looked like something they just toss on this bushes of lettuce and the flavor wasnt good Im so sorry Im not the service was outstanding the atmosphere was nice hopefully with the food and drink theyll do better we came for brunch
My wife and I reserved a table there for our first year wedding anniversary. I was trying to surprise my wife. They exceed my expectations. When we arrived, the table was nicely dressed with a dozen of red roses and a bottle of champagne waiting for us. The owner and the chef came to our table to congratulate us personally. The food was excellent as usual. They bake a special cake for us. Our waitress was superb. They made our night. It was a wonderful experience. One the manager surprised us by capturing the moments for us in pictures and videos. From the buttom of our heart, we want to thank Chwa Hollywood for that unforgettable moment.Claudette and Fritz
Mixed feeling about this place the host wasn’t the best host he told me there weren’t any seats and told me he didn’t know when there would be any.however a friend of mine went in 5 minutes later and was seated This place definitely is filled with Haitian culture. unfortunately I went on a night they were having multiple birthday celebrations. The food took very long however the waitress Genesis was very attentive and kept checking on the table. We received our appetizers pretty quick but for the price the appetizers are very small. The crab cakes are VERY good thou. If your from Miami you could skip the fried couch. We ordered the chicken, salmon and shrimp. I would recommend the salmon it was very tasty and not to spicy. The shrimp we weren’t even able to finish it was entirely to spicy and the chicken was a little to dry for my liking. Not sure if I would return here a bit to pricey for the portions served. I dide enjoy the ambience between the DJ and and customer service received by the server.. not so much the host.
First for the price this restaurant is charging, no reason to have flies in the establishment. Second, curtains are stained and dirty. Third, service sucks waiter doesn’t even refill your water, the wait for food is horrible! When we went only 3 tables with guest still took forever for a shrimp and grits. IG marketing will def get you! I can continue to go on and on but def do not recommend! Over hyped!
I love Mimi I have used her for my gender reveal and she was the best. The guest were very pleased with the delicious food. We’re using her for Friendsgiving this year. Not to mention she delivers food to any location. I’m using her for every event now. CHWA is the best.
My first time and last time at Chwa. Service was awful, the food was just one kind of rice you could order and no chicken, only Jerk chicken. From the front window, they had a piece of plywood replacing the broken glass. I would never suggest anyone to go eat there and worst you have to pay for parking. This restaurant was not a good place to go at all...
Went for a birthday. The good was good but they had alot if items on the menu that werent available so that was a little disappointing. But it was full of flavor so still a good night.
It was a party of 3. The food was good but small portion size. Another thing is the menu has no prices because a party of 3 should not cost over $200, only one of us ordered an alcoholic drink. But conch for $54.99 is ridiculous AF! And miss me with everything is high now, and again it’s the audacity for no prices on the menu as if they’re a 5 start restaurant. Granted it was good but I’ve had better conch for less. But we were charged 2 service charges when initially it was supposed to be on one check. But this was definitely my first and last time.
Chwa needs to do better at preparing for larger crowds. When I arrived the service was a negative…The server never came to our table until we complained. Along with not being attentive at all. We waited over an hour for drinks and over two hours for food. Won’t recommend.
NOT WORTH THE HYPE AT ALL!The food/service was very poor! The tension was thick in the room, the blonde short hair server works sloppy, wasn’t interested being there. The food had no favor which was very disappointing, I expected way better coming from a Haitian restaurant the pikliz had no temperature to it was watery Idk how that was even possible. Only pros were the music playlist is good and layout was decent. Still with that I will not be returning to this place nor would I recommend ANYONE to waste their time or money at this establishment.
I made reservations for a party of two and upon arrival, we were promptly seated within a mere five minutes. However, our initial excitement quickly waned as we found ourselves waiting for a server to acknowledge our presence for an extensive 25-30 minutes. Once we managed to gain the attention of a staff member and requested to place our order, we were assured a swift return, but unfortunately, that promise remained unfulfilled. Regrettably, my companion even attempted to get our drinks directly from the bar, yet this avenue proved fruitless as well. After enduring a further 15-20 minute wait, we reluctantly made the decision to depart from the establishment. As a frequent patron of this establishment in the past, I can confidently assert that this particular encounter was unequivocally the worst experience I have encountered to date. It is disheartening to reflect on the fact that we were unable to even place a simple drink order, let alone enjoy a satisfying meal. The level of customer service exhibited during this visit was alarmingly subpar, dampening what should have been an enjoyable dining experience.
Made a reservation for 6:30 (via text) Called but no answer. Once my husband and I arrived we’re told the kitchen doesn’t open until 7pm. We were fine with waiting. However, we had to wait almost 45 minutes before getting our food. Then they brought our food out separately. That was unacceptable. We waited another 15 minutes before my husband received his food. The food was good but very spicy. The atmosphere became very congested & noisy/loud. This place was advertised as intimate…it wasn’t. We literally had to shout across our table to hear each other. I did see a manager (I’m assuming) ask the DJ to lower the volume but it didn’t help. Our table was around the corner from the kitchen next to the bar. Initially we were good but as it got crowded people were huddled on that area. My husband was constantly bumped. This also made it hard for the waitstaff to maneuver through with people’s food. We didn’t enjoy our visit at all. We were trying to support this black owned business but there needs to be more organization. It was advertised as intimate, this was not that at all. We also expected more on the menu but it was very limited. This was our first and last visit to this establishment. To the owner….don’t bother responding. It looks like each response to complaints are the exact same. Just do better.
I wish I could give them 0 stars. I was there for over 15 minutes(after being seated) before even being spoken to. The server said that she was coming back to take our drinks order and never did. We spoke to three different servers before one finally took our drink order. An hour later, after multiple requests to speak to a supervisor I walked out just sober and hungry. Without even an opportunity to order food. The waiter and waitresses were on the dance floor enjoying the live performance while I perished away in the dining room 😫. They also swipped my friends debit card twice after forgetting to give her the discount offered by the manager. Save yourself the time and aggravation. If you’re hungry find somewhere else to eat. Period
This place decor and vibe is nice. The food and drinks were tasty. I have to say this place is extremely over priced. 2 appetizers, 5 drinks, and 3 medium snapper dinners total $ 430 including tip x2. We didn’t get a printed receipt because the waiter was using an handheld device. We asked the waiter if tip was included in the price and he said NO. 18% gratuity was included and we gave 20% in addition, after seeing the receipt he sent electronically we seen gratuity was added .
This place is great since it has Caribbean vibes! The goat was well seasoned and the drinks were great! The presentation of our food was excellen! Our waitress did an amazing job of taking care of us and we never had to wait long for service. The DJ was not on point though...too many songs were repeated and he did not have a good flow. Everything else was great!
Used to love this place. I know things are tough now but linen for the lap would be nice because of the type of food we eat will dirty our clothes. And who don’t eat with linen on their lap that’s proper table etiquette 😑 napkins that come in the plastic with the utensils won’t cut it. Like stop being cheap. Nacho steak was salty had to send it back and waitress caught an attitude like chick it’s my money that’s being spent not yours. Definitely not returning back anymore. gottta do better. Because someone will come around the corner and do better. And after not coming for a year service still slow. Food and drinks take forever including hookah. Ya always get comfortable and never want to change bad habits. Smh Good luck
Our main reason for coming here was to order the shrimp and the grits since I came here last year for my birthday. The first time the shrimp and grits came out (last year) it was poorly made, so the owner took it upon herself to remake it for us & it was delicious! So fast forward to this year. We came in March 17th, 2023 to order the shrimp & grits again since we were here on a business trip. Unfortunately, we missed the time frame to eat the shrimp & grits (they served it until 5pm), but we still decided to dine in since we were already there.First, for two appetizers and two drinks my bill came out to be $92, which didn’t make sense according to their menu. The lady added a charge for “sharing appetizers” and I’m assuming there is a gratuity as well. My girlfriend tried to order their veggie plantain nachos, but the waitress said they don’t do veggie & the waitress told my girlfriend she had to order it with meat, even though their menu clearly states they have a veggie option. She ended up ordering the shrimp plantains nachos & took off the shrimp & gave that part to me. For my entree, I had the wings and fries, which were decent. I wanted to order more food, but as I stated earlier, the waitress never came back to check on us until we had to flag her down later just to pay for our meal.Second, once the waitress dropped off our food we never saw her again and had to ask the bartender for silverware and napkins.Third, the dj was bad. He didn’t know how to mix the music and a lot of the music didn’t flow together.Lastly, when we were ready for our check we had to flag the lady down just to pay (mentioned above). The best parts of the night were the camera man and the flower lady who we purchased a photo and a glowing flower from, respectively. Our experience was just awful. We won’t be coming back after this.
Everything was amazing. The service and the chef were absolutely awesome. The food was exceptionally good. The atmosphere is fabulous and great music. We came for Sunday brunch and had a fantastic time. I Will definitely be back.
Server Fran Sets Bad Customer Service ExperienceTonight I set out intentions to gather with family in friends just to meet for dinner and vibes. (no special occasion). Our party of 12 turned into a party of 16. I was able to set reservations early on during the week and was advised for the additional 4 seats they will have to come in as a walk in an they could accommodate them a table, she also was very clear that she just cant guarantee the table will be in close proximity. (which was fine)Unfortunately, from the time being seated our evening was tainted, with overwhelming feelings.1. Fran had a bad attitude with a non helpful spirit. Not once was she warm or had a inviting smile. Even after the chaos was settled, she remained very poker face , which was not appreciated your a server part of your job is to serve and be pleasant.2. Waiter mentioned after being seated that we will be provided 1 check CANT be split or separated in anyway. Shocker , i called on two occasions for reservations not once was this mentioned. I also been here twice of big groups an was able to get check separated with no issues. which was a huge inconvenience for our group to be notified on arrival.Even at a sperate table with 5 ppl with 3 checks needed she advised it could only be 1 check. I been to plenty of restaurant establishments i have never heard of something so outlandish unless requested. The food was good, and the DJ was great !!!This was my 3rd time here (big groups) which is why I even recommended to family an friends we should go there. I want to think this was a isolated experience and will not occur again. However, i can not chance it. I want to spend my hard working money at place that I know customer service is a priority, not making me an my group feel like unwanted customers. The amount of money spent here, we could of hired a DJ and a private chef and enjoyed the ambiance instead of dealing with a waiter that doesnt like her job.Take your food to go an get a better experience!!!!!!
We was here for a private event. No water or silverwarewas on the table. The service was freaking slow. It took them about 2 1/5hrs for us to get our food. The sad part about it is, we had a preset menu and they ran out of food that we requested. Wont be back.
They take forever to sit you and they only have one person working so just to get your order in will take a minimum of 30 minutes. I watched many people come in and get seated then leave. They need more staff.
The food, ambiance, and music is wonderful. However the service is not that great. The waitresses take your order and never circle back to check on you. The fact that the gratuity is already included plays a big role in the mindset of the staff. They only care to tend to you when you want to order additional items but other than that they will not check on you to see if you are okay. The prices of the drinks are inconsistent as waiters give different prices. They also often add things to your bill that you did not order. I ordered a fried fish once and changed my mind in less than 5 minutes and the waitress told me it was too late to change my mind because they had “already dropped it in the grease” she noticed I was suspicious of her lie so when my fish came out a whole hour later she said it was been finished but she was waiting for everyone else’s meal to come out. Mind you the fish was pipping hot yet it was “dropped in grease” in less than 5 minutes after ordering it. She noticed the fish cost more money and so that equates to a bigger tip for her. I forgot her name but she was a Bahamian.
The atmosphere here was amazing but the service was just terrible. The wait time for food and drinks were about 2 hours. If you’re starving, make sure you have a snack prior. The DJ was probably the best part of the place.
Went to Chwa to celebrate my birthday and I had a great time. From the food to the music, I definitely recommend. To add to the experience, our waitress Francesca, was honestly the best! She recommended items that she knew you’d enjoy. She also made sure I and my party was satisfied with everything and that we enjoyed our time celebrating me, the birthday girl.
I recommend this restaurant no stars. Worse customer service from the manager. I ordered Fish (whole snapper) it tasted REAL FISHY. I complained about it to our waiter and she assist on calling the manager “Frankel” he got mad at me because I didn’t like my fish. And he also told me it was my fault that the fish tasted bad. He didn’t give me a good customer service. And then yelled at my waiter and told her the money is going to come out of her pocket. Nancy was a good waiter. She also calmed me down because Frankel was being real disrespectful. I wouldn’t recommend this place to no one because of Frankel. Again Nancy I apologize for the situation, you are sweet.
Food was amazing but music was too loud, couldnt even hear myself speak. Also they took over an HOUR for an appetizer, just unacceptable. If youre looking to waste your time, this is the place for you! Also if your trying to speak with any of the waitresses just know other people come first before you, soexpect to wait 1 hour for a drink, 2 hours for an appetizer and 5 hours for your entree so its best if you get here around brunch.
Delectable food. Our taste buds went on an exhilarating journey. Chwa and chef Mimi exceeded our expectations. Get the grits and the lobster during brunch. Ask for Alejandro. Service with a smile. Well be back over and over again.
I went there last night to celebrate my friends birthday. The vibe was great. The owner came out to introduce herself and wish everyone that was celebrating a happy birthday. She was amazing. But the 2 it’s because of it’s location NO PARKNG SPACE. My car and birthday girl car got towed last night.
I visited this place for the first time on 04/15. I’ve been wanting to come to this establishment for a couple years now, but I will honestly say that was the first and last time I will ever be back. Now the food was amazing but the service was despicable. Our server took forever to take our order, check on us, and bring items when requested. Not only was she rude with us after messing up our orders a couple times it was the fact that she thought it was OK to tip herself without asking. We had several checks within our party and she thought it was OK to keep the change to herself without asking. Now our friend wouldn’t have cared if it was less than $10 but if your service was trash and you’re not returning anyone’s cash differences why would she let you keep $20+ change to yourself. Not only that she additionally added $37 to my bill and when questioned she became very rude and couldn’t figure out where it came from. I honestly felt like she was trying to tip herself some more money because the bill definitely was not adding up. We questioned her about it and asked for a receipt and she was stalling for a good 30 minutes. It was 2am and I honestly was tired and wanted to go home. We were told we were going to receive it by email since it was so difficult to print out and have yet received it. I honestly wished I remembered the lady’s name so I can put her on BLAST. It wasn’t the lady with the dyed blonde hair but I do feel as though she knew what was going on with the receipt and she was the one that mentioned she would emailed it to us. Now I’m not sure if all the waitresses/servers are like this, but I will definitely never be back and will make sure to tell everyone I know not to go here or stop going all because of that waitress really stoled money from us. Very unprofessional.
This place is terrible…Music is way too loud. The dj doesn’t know how to DJ..The food may be good.. however, the service is poor. The servers do not tend to the tables in an orderly fashion or timing. You would typically wait 45mins-1Hour to receive appetizers, and times that by 2 is when you’ll receive your meal. That’s IF they don’t come to your table at the 50minute mark letting you know that they ran out of your dish, and to pick a new one.Never am I ever coming back to this poor establishment. And I’ll continue to tell people not to come. This place does not deliver remotely to even earning a 1 star. The star is for the heritage and the food only. Management needs to establish systems in place and new workers if they desire for this place to thrive.
I had a great time with my family. The staff were great, the food was amazing. The place is very clean and friendly.
I was here for brunch. The slowest and worse service known to man. Our server had the worse attitude. He wouldnt take our order until everyone had arrived. It took an hour, no exaggeration to receive our food and my chicken was undercooked. It was completely impossible to get the waiters attention to get a re-order. One person in our party still hasnt eaten. Oh by the way Im still in the restaurant as I write this review. I couldnt wait until later. The worse experience EVER. Never coming back!!!Update: My best friend really wanted to try Chea for herself, so I went back. The service has gotten better but they really try to take all the money you have out of your purse. The bill was ridiculously high. They charge each of us a service when we asked for separate checks. My $44 that I knew my dish and drink would come to was $57 after their service charge and taxes. I dont appreciate being told how much I have to tip. This was my last time ever going to Chwa, my friend was highly disappointed with her bill as well. I can say for sure I will NEVER set foot in Chwa AGAIN!!!!!
I had a wonderful time celebrating my friends birthday 🎂 The food is always good and the owner MiMi showed us a wonderful time. The drinks where just what I needed strong and stiff.. If you’re looking for some where to have a good time, great vibes, and good food.. Please don’t hesitate to visit. #blackowned
As an actual Haitian, I have never been to a Haitian restaurant where you have to request and pay extra for piklis for fried fish. They also didn’t have what I originally requested despite it being on their menu. The food is way over priced. However, despite the aforementioned, the food is well-seasoned.
Food be seasoned but the service is never on point no one greets you at the door. No prices on the menu and overpriced once you do order. I been here 3 times and only once they been on point. Bathroom need to be checked also it’s unkept.
I wish I can give this place a ZERO. TERRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT GO HERE. We waited over an hour for our food and only half of the tables food arrived which the other half never arrived after over 30 minutes of waiting. The half that received their food was done eating and food still didn’t arrive for the other half of the table. We waited and waited. NOTHING. Asked to speak with a manager who was rude, young and inexperienced. Furthermore, I usually do not write reviews however this is the reason I DO NOT support Haitian restaurants. Unorganized & terrible services. Paid for parking for 4 hours only to arrive to a restaurant after driving 1 hour to NO FOOD and bad service . In addition, I forgot to add that after waiting 2 hour for a non alcoholic drink that didn’t arrive after asking several times. Don’t believe the HYPE… Terrible Service & I do not recommend. Lastly, they never refilled drinks or asked if we wanted anything additional. Tables were missing utensils when we arrived. Restaurant had an opportunity to generate more sales because food is really good however they failed due to the terrible service & inexperienced staff.
I went to Chwa for my sister’s bday dinner party, when we arrived the waiter never placed our order for drinks but brought the food out, we were so thirsty we had to go the bar to buy drinks and the bartender was so slow she didn’t even fix the drink properly this place need an intervention. After we got the drinks from the bar it took us another 20 minutes to take our drinks order, then he got our drinks wrong there were people who arrived after us got their second round of drinks while we sitting at the table waiting for him to take our drinks order, I wish I had enough space to write everything. I would never returned to that place unless they’re fix their services and be more considerate about your guests or learned how to organized for parties. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE AT A HAITIAN RESTAURANT IT WAS VERY TRAUMATIZING FOR ME AND MY FAMILY
Worst experience ever. The server’s name was Fran. If you don’t like your job, then go somewhere else. I think that because an automatic 18% gratuity is added to big parties, the servers do a bare minimum with taking good care of their guests. People want us to support our fellow Haitian or black owned businesses but our experience at Chwa was straight trash. The food wasn’t bad although it took a long time. Got charged for pikliz that I never got and asked for several times. It’s only $1 but it’s the principle. The Dj was good. That server needs to be retrained on what customer service is or get out of the industry!!
I was really excited to try this spot with my significant other for a date night. The staff at the front such as the hostess and the bouncer were not friendly or accommodating and we got the vibe we weren’t welcome. We asked how long the wait would be since it was at full capacity and we were told “I don’t know” so we left. It’s unfortunate since we heard good things about Chwa and were looking forward to our experience. It’d be nice if everyone knew the first impression is a lasting impression.
A Haitian owned resturant so my party and I had high expectations. WRONG!! Our dinner party was for 12:30. We did not eat until 4:30pm!! The first waitress came and didnt want to take orders until the whole party was there, so no orders was placed until the last person walked in at 2:00pm🙄🙄. We was never given complimentary water, or silverware! We literally had to ask the cleaning crew to find our waitress 3 times then she never came back and they had the receptionists serving us. Eventually we had to get to the owner/ manager (who was nice) to serve us water and silverware, smdh. The manager offered to remove the drinks we ordered and end up only removing 3. After bringing it to his attention he removed $70.00 from the bill that was over $500.00.The salmon and gritz was really good but the birthday girl chicken and waffle wasnt. After waiting 4 hours we expected all the food to come out together, WRONG! People who came hours after us and sat around our table ate first!!The service was TRASH, the food was good.Tip: Dont have a large party here for Sunday brunch, you may end up very disappointed.
Bartender was extremely friendly. She made sure I was well taken care of. I didn’t know what I wanted to eat and she asked if she can make a suggestion. I said “sure why not” and she suggested the salmon. I never had the salmon here before, and she spoke so highly of the salmon. She said it was her favorite thing to eat there. So I trusted her. When I tell you the salmon was EVERYTHING she said it would be!!!! It really was!!! I was very pleased! I also ordered a lemon drop martini. She definitely made with love! There were some really nasty ladies sitting next to me at the bar, literally complaining about everything, and she was so patient with them. I gave her a very generous tip only because she kept her composure, and did her job gracefully. Thankfully she didn’t let those classless women wipe that beautiful smile off her face. Such a sweetheart. Will definitely be returning next weekend!
The worst dining experience ever! The service here is horrible. The waitress took my food order 1 hour after sitting at the table. The food came out 40 min later. So it took almost 2 hours for me to get my food. She never brought me any water or silverware. I ordered lobster and waffles, waitress didnt tell me the cost of the meal. When it was time to pay the lobster cost $65 mind you it was a 6 oz lobster tail, the waffles were horrible and dry. On top of all of that it was extremely hot in the restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
I went to their brunch and the food and service was amazing!! I ordered the salmon and grits and it was so delicious! I had a Long Island iced tea too shelf and that was so good also. I will definitely be back to try more of their food and check the evening vibe. Brunch vibe was nice the music was great crowd was very chill
We came on a Tuesday, the space is nice, food is good, but the music is entirely to loud. One can’t even converse without screaming across the table at 8pm! Being that this is supposed to be restaurant…I think the music shouldn’t be as loud. I understand after 10om on a weekend but definitely not prior too. As a consumer, adapt to your crowd.
I loved this place. The outside is very unassuming but the inside is absolutely beautiful! Very picturesque. Lots of Instagram worthy photo ops. The food was really good also. My family and I had the griot nachos, chicken wings quesadilla and the griot. I had the fried lambi but didnt like it because I dont like my seafood fried but other than that it was a 10/10!
Waited over an hour to have my order corrected. By the time my food came, the others in my party were paying fir their food to leave. Waitress unattentive. She was a ghost majority of the night. Great atmosphere tho. Food was delicious. I ended up eating it at home.
Omg, the food was amazing. Everything was so tasty and seasoned to prefection. Great vibe. We danced all night. We did not have to wait to be seated and food did not take long at all. I would definitely come back.
The ambiance, the music, & the food was all fantastic! Hands down the tastiest fried snapper I’ve ever had. I would have given them a 5 if the AC worked better (it got hot), but worse than that, the women’s bathroom was downright gross!!!! I was absolutely appalled by how disgusting the bathroom was… please hire someone to regularly clean the bathroom during business hours.
The downside… We went for taco Tuesday’s happy hour and we were given shots of “patron”, it was a diluted tequila, not patron. 1 shot of patron typically does the trick however I had 5 and felt nothing. We were supposed to be charged $5 per drink for happy hour and the waitress charged us full price for everything, they also charged us for things we did not order, unfortunately I didn’t notice until I got home. I contacted them multiple times, was given the run around and eventually never heard from them. The tab was $300 when it should’ve been $156. The waitress also disappears for very long periods of time so expect to wait. Overall very disappointed and basically afraid to go back.On the bright side, the food is good (kinda pricey) and the music is great, fun atmosphere. (If you don’t mind the poor service)Update: Not sure why this chwa rep is now telling me to contact them to rectify the situation when I’ve tried several times for weeks with no help. BTW the manager who served us/ screwed up our bill was named Sasha/Sade something like that . Rectify your service and your staff.
I dont ever take my time to write reviews. However, I am make an exception! The food is good. My only complaint is that the prices on the menu do not match the prices at the end. Once you get your bill, it comes off to being more. Then the waiter gives you a long excuse as if it was your error, not theirs. They didnt offer at all to fix this matter. I paid almost twice as much as I thought I would have paid for basic food.
After going to Chwa for a birthday dinner on 7/6, I knew it was a place I wanted the rest of my friends to experience. The food was good, our hostess was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, the place was very clean, and the ambiance was beyond enjoyable. Just went again last night and the experience was even better. Food(my favorite thing on the menu plantain nachos) and music(both DJs were awesome!). Everyone enjoyed the food and had a good time. Now we are ready to try your brunch.
Horrible service! My girlfriends and I arrived at Chwa at around 3:30 and we were seated immediately. We didn’t get our menu until about 3:55. We ordered our food and didn’t get it until about 5:05. They waited an hour to tell my sister that they ran out of what she ordered. When I started to eat my food I noticed there was hair in my food. Our waitress literally ignored us the whole time we were there and she had an attitude. I would rate this a 0 but I can’t. I’m all for supporting black owned businesses but do better!
This was my 2nd time at a birthday party at Chwa. The food is good. Plantains are dry and overcooked. It actually tastes like refried left-overs. The drinks are good. It was a large party; the host did the best he could in regard to customer service. Parking is limited. Dj was good as well.
The drinks and food took a long time to come out and the Gratuity was added to bill though we were a party of 3. But my issue was more on the timeframe of drinks getting to us. The music was great. Staff as well. It just took a long time for our drinks to be delivered.
By far the worst service ever. I tried giving this place a second chance because the food is quite exceptional. However, the service was horrible as the first time. The server Richardson, whatever his name was, was rude af. Spent nearly an hour waiting to be waited on, only to be told they ran out of rice. Never again, try to support a nice black owned establishment only to be hood winked on service. Never again!Update: So the owner is now reaching out stating contact him/her to provide more information. According to your manager that night you were informed and she advised there was nothing she could do to rectify the matter. Why youre wanting me to reach out when you were there that night and made no effort to come out to the table to speak to us is fake. Frankly, I dont care to speak to you, nor will I endorse your establishment. It seems the wait staff is inexperienced, short tempered and rude and you, the owners could care less.
It’s a nice restaurant, but so disappointing! I came based on their Instagram and I came from Miami to try their food, but they don’t serve half of the things they show on their page. The Spanish waitress don’t really know how to pronounce the food on the menu, and by this being my first time I wanted to know what’s good. No oxtails 😒 they have certain days for certain foods. Hopefully the food is good
This place is the bomb. This was my first time. The food is delicious. The staff is on point. Great customer service. 👌. The girls at the bar were amazing. CHWA definitely surpassed my expectations. It was a great night. This is definitely the place to be.
I had a very bad experience at this place, if you are hungry or with family and want to enjoy a good dinner don’t choose this venue, the food take literally an hour or more ! The drinks are over priced and in plastic cups! The waiter (Fernando) was a mess.. couldn’t even understand him and he didn’t know about the food to recommend anything to us. And to top it of the AC didn’t work, the place is hot and floors are slippery if wearing heals but they won’t let you in wearing sandals ! I won’t visit again.
The food was really good, nice vibe and the music was also good. My only complaint is the music was extremely loud, if they just lower the music a little so you’re able to talk to the people you’re with and your waitress then it’d be perfect. She got our order wrong because she couldn’t hear.
*LONG REVIEW* I normally don’t leave reviews. Actually, it’s very RARE that I ever do. However, I felt compelled to do so this time. My cousin and I went to Chwa last weekend and had a…let’s just say not so great experience. We immediately requested to speak with the manager to express our dissatisfaction. She completely understood where we were coming from and resolved our issue. (That’s 10 points for great customer service skills). Now here’s why I felt compelled to leave my review from my visit to Chwa yesterday. (Yes! I went back because she fixed my issue from the weekend before) A friend of mine had never been to Chwa and I decided to go with her. I called ahead of time this time to make a reservation. The same manager I spoke to the weekend prior is who answered the phone. Made my reservation and I showed up for brunch. Although the manager resolved my issue the weekend prior, she made sure that I wouldn’t have ANY issues this time around. I literally felt like a VIP customer the entire time! Our service was amazing! The food was amazing! The ambiance was and is always amazing! Thank you Chwa (Dominique) for exhibiting astounding Customer Service skills! I’ll spend my money at any establishment that can take accountability AND redeem themselves 10 times over!
Let me begin this reveiw with what I thought was a positive. The DJ is awesome, he knows how to keep the crowd entertained, and the presentation of which the food is presented nice. The set up is also nice easily overlooked becuse of the heat and aggrevating wait time for drinks and food. Now on to why I feel that this establishment needs lots of improvement. It extremely HOT inside of this resturant, they have one hard cover copy menu, and a QR scan that doesnt work to view the menu. After being seated we waited and hour and fifteen min before they decided to take our drink orders. We were told that they had unlimited mimosa but she failed to say that the price was $40 each person for the mimosa. I ordered chicken and waffles and the chicken strips were hard, the green fried plaintans that are served with the crab cake were so hard that it would be impossible to cut with a steak knife. CHWA has several hidden charges when they decide to bring the bill. I have eaten at many fine diing resturants and the mediocre food quality is not justified with their prices. CHICKEN STRIPS and 3 triangle shaped waffles with unlimited mimosa $90 not justified. I asked for ice to put inside of my hot mimosa and I received the ice when we were getting ready to leave the resturant. Everything took extremely long. my party and I had to continously add more time to the parking meter. I arrived at 12:30pm and my parking meter original hours was from 12:30pm to 3:45pm I had to then extended my time for a hour and 30 min more. This establishment needs lots of improvemnet.
The food was greatMusic was goodThey are trying to run a club and upscale restaurant at the same time while Little kids are running around the place!!& The service sucksHad to remind the server about my drink three times never got it.. tried to ask another server if she could help & she said only our server could help us.Servers weren’t attentive at allThe bus lady kept asking us if we were done with our plates and we didn’t even take two bites yet, which very annoying! My friend reserved a table for her birthday and as soon as we finished eating we had to leave the table and they move us to some couches that they claimed was a VIP area which was a joke…. Nothing was vip about it!
Food was disgusting and over priced. Very low quality lounge. The drinks was good and the bartender has great customer service, however, that was the only good experience for me. The music was terrible as well. It was very low vibration and like a fake show. I personally did not like this place and do not recommend. I will not return.*Parking was a Disaster….. spent 30 minutes to find a park and then had to walk 3 blocks…..
Terrible Terrible service! The wait was extreme, we waited over 2 hours after being seated just to get an appetizer!! No one ever offered us water or anything! The kicker is, the man bought us our appetizer literally sat it down and kept walking, he never acknowledged us, made eye contact or even apologize for the extensive wait. After complaining we still waited another 45 minutes until we decided we’d had enough. No apologies, no nothing but poor, slow service. Never again!
I went on a Sunday night for my hubby birthday. Everything was on point food, DJ, and my waitress was really sweet. My food came out less than 30 minutes. The only problem it took me forever to find a parking spot because I am not from there. Besides that great place check it out!!
Excellent food, great vibe, the owner was very welcoming and down to earth. Only thing I would improve is the waiters being more attentive. Check on the guest more and being more enthused other than that i will definitely keep going back!
Omg this place is a whole vibe!First haitian restaurant Ive been to where the food, drinks, and service is on point. Haitian food with a twist. The food is bursting with flavor. The food was so good, I almost bit my finger. Our waitress Nancy, hats off to her customer service skills, she was so personable. The ombiance and the DJ was a plus. Its my new spot even though I live 2hrs away. So worth it. Ill be back.
The place looks much nicer online then it does in person. They wouldn’t sit us when we showed up a bit early even though the restaurant was empty. Wait staff was absolutely horrible, bad attitudes all around. We were sat for almost 20 mins with no water, no drinks even though we had put in the drink orders after being sat. They didn’t have half of the brunch menu available and you couldn’t order anything outside of the brunch menu. One waitress was dressed where you could visibly see her underwear. No music, no ambiance, no nothing. Would never come again. Would never recommend.
I stumbled upon Chwa and was blown away by their Caribbean cuisine. The flavors were authentic, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lively. Highly recommend!
The food is good and the waitress Adena was very attentive and sweet. But they must change the house DJ immediately. How did we get from raboday music to Chaka Khan - please explain this transition. The place would be great if he created the party vibe. Now we are listening Stevie Wonder after Mase 💭 How did we get here??!!!!As I said the food is great and the place aesthetically looks great.
This place is a bit pricey but its absolutely delicious!! Ive been for brunch and dinner and enjoyed myself. Always great customer service and great music.
Visited Chwa on Mothers Day for the first time on recommendation of a coworker. The physical look of the restaurant is very appealing andthe music was good. I got there at 2:12pm there was a brunch buffet that ended at 3pm, I waited for about 15 minutes to be told whether I could join the buffet or not, I was advised to just wait until 3 to have regular dining. At 2:50pm we got a table. As soon as our server introduced herself, we placed our orders immediately. First off, I was surprised that they didnt have no signature Haitian meal available the only sides were fries, waffle and grits. We ordered 3 salmon and grits, a shrimp and grits, fries and some waffle. No potatoes, no vegetables, no rice until 6pm. Ok. The food came out about 3:50pm missing one order. Grits covered in what seemed like and tasted like reused oil. For the first time in my life Ive had to trash shrimp, my parents trashed their salmon. The food was oily and I felt awful. Disappointed and feeling too sick to argue about it, we paid our $162 for a margarita, a fruit drink, 2salmon and grits, 1shrimp and grits, 1serving of fries, 1 chicken and waffle and an extra waffle. About 6 hours later all 3 of us that ate the partial meals were in 3 bathrooms with diarrhea. My husband who is the only one that didnt eat was spared the painful experience. Im sitting at my desk in pain writing this. Our server Deena was good, she tried but man, this will go down as one of my worst food experiences ever.
It is a very nice place to have you’re Haitian food, if you order ahead your food will definitely be ready on time, I would consider you doing that, the ladies will take good care of you and foods are always tasty there.. I eat there almost everyday.
I went there with my business partner after a business meeting. The food was great. Alex made us a nice sangria (Madrid style lol) and the shrimp pasta was delicious. My friend had the lambi and I had chicken. The staff was great and the chef came out to greet us.Very nice place and excellent customer service. Great place to take your friends and family.I will definitely recommend Chwa for nice food , great atmosphere and excellent customer service.
Went there last night for the first time. Got there at 8 but was told there was an event at 9 so they might start kicking people out… the event was supposedly $25 but if I’m already there spending well over $25 in food I don’t see the problem. But whatever we stayed bc I already paid to park and wasn’t leaving. Now I will say the food was absolutely delicious. However my issues were the crab cakes… there was so much damn filling and dough and barely any crab . Second my friend ordered the crack conch and for $25 they tried it! The portion was so damn small. Delicious tho lol and so was the sauce it came with. We both ordered salmon ($70). Although it was very good not sure I’d want to pay $30 for a piece of salmon. Rice was so damn good whew! The drinks were weak but good. We got 3 grand marnier $42…. The prices were just ridiculous and then they charged an additional $30 service fee on top of the $180 that was spent. Shooting my bill up to $210 AND THEN YOU STILL HAVE TO TIP THE WAITER. The food was really good but I won’t be back due to all the cons i mentioned.
That service charge that isn’t a tip is ridiculous! My whole thing is, if I’m paying to eat why are establishments charging for service that i’m already paying for. Its a circular scam.I went there for Sunday brunch to try out a new spot in Hollywood and it was fairly empty as we were the first diners so they were still setting up for the brunch event they had so I cannot speak to that experience. There was no lobster or shrimp available. We both ordered chicken and waffles and the chicken was moist but the waffle was dry and crumbled, the mango mimosa was room temperature and there was a $15 service charge that wasn’t a tip. They should truly look into that service charge because it keeps me from recommending what could be a great spot to other people.
Im not going to lie, when I heard about a Haitian restaurant with music I was excited and I wish I had great things to say about this place but it disappointed me. The drink I ordered came after half an hour and it wasnt mixed well. The service wasnt good, our server would disappear for half an hour. I arrived at 11pm and ordered my entrée at 11:20 and got it before 1a.m.. The food came out decent but the music was incredibly too loud and caused me to have a massive headache. As far as the selection, the saying goes shoot the DJ because the playlist wasnt balanced well. Overall I thought the food was ok but it lacked seasoning and spice (piklis). The place was clean and nicely decorated but I dont think I would go there again.
Positive: music was great.Negative: I came a bit later than my group because I could not find parking (30 minutes+). My friends had just gotten their food served when I came in. The waitress never came back after dropping off their food, I had to wait for the lady who was taking people plates off the tables, to get the server so I could order my food. Everyone loved their food and someone recommended that I get Jerk chicken because it was good, however mine came out burned. I didnt want rice but was not offered a substitution extra plaintain would have been fine or more salad. The server attempted to over charged a couple of people in our group. SERVER OVER CHARGING IS A REPEATED THEME IN THE REVIEWS. SERVERS NOT CHECK IN TO SEE IF EVERYTHING IS GOOD AFTER DROPPING FOOD IS ANOTHER THEME (maybe owner should have a staff meeting to address those 2 issues). I know the reasons why those happened (over charging and bad customer service/ not check in on people after serving food) is because they are getting tipped by the amount people spend and they do not have to give gooe customer service to get tipped, since it is already included.
We made reservations and was never told about their 2 hour limit at reserved tables. The waitress informed us at the 2 hour mark and made us feel rushed out. The waitress placed incorrect prices on bill which she had to make corrections to 3 times. The waitress resorted to inform us that the menu items are at market price therefore expect the prices to be different from the menu, that would only apply unless market price is listed beside the food item. The place is very loud and subpar at best. I will not recommend. The manager replies appreciating my review and hoping I would return which is insulting. Just as I told your waitress I would never return back to that place. I won’t give you another opportunity to ruin my evening with poor communication, to try to add on $3-5 more on the menu price in hopes we don’t notice and to eat your salty food overrated food.
I gave 1 star for the DJ and bc the place is cute, the waitress was attentive. However it’s not worth paying that much for cold, dry, burn foods. The rice was full of jiroff, No taste. Fried goat, no flavor, burned, dry. Ordered salmon, It was dry. Not too forget the plantains. Who sale people dry cold, burned plaintains? They fried it in dirty oil. I ask to take a back and they brought back the same cold dry, burned plaintains. The owner is super rude, arrogant. If you definitely have to go, to check it out don’t buy food from them. Maybe drinks, you might as well buy shots because the drinks are $16 with not much alcohol on them. I heard about this place on tiktok and always wanted to check it out. This is why I don’t go to Haitian restaurants. I’m not comfortable paying top dollars for mediocre food. It’s Miami spice month where I can get 3 course meals from top restaurants and Michelin chef for $45-60. If you are going to charge $35 for salmon you have to make sure it taste good.
My first time there i had the worst experience ever. I was very disappointed at the staff. I went there for my birthday nobody came to talked to me or my friends, we had no choice but to leave without eating nothing. Constomer service is worst, horrible. Im not going back over there
My friends and I went there for the first time today for brunch, we had a blast. The food was excellent, customer service was on point and the DJ played all of the good music, he had all of us dancing. If you havent gone there, check it out. Will not disappoint.
Very very disappointed, drove 20 miles to support on a Sunday night. 7pm got there brunch was still on!! Which we had no problem with, loud music etc which was a red flag 🚩, 7pm its typical dinner time with family. Come on!! My boyfriend and I got sat, mind you from the seating there was issues ( couch is Hookah which host did not mention and sat us there, until waitress told us we couldn’t sit because we were not drinking nor smoking). Fine, we moved to a small table close to the bar. Mind you we still kept our cool. So it was time to order and here comes the big news!! Server « I am sorry, we only have cracked conch and salmon now on the menu, because we had brunch today » At 7 pm ???? On a Sunday night?? We decided to order just the nacho plantains no meat since there was none available 😂😂😂. 30 minutes still no food. So at this point we had to go, asked for check they still charged us for the apps which we never get!!!As a community we should do better, who has brunch until 7pm?? There are times for that, what happened to ending brunch at 4pm?? It’s ok to have brunch but their PR should have a time limit and their chefs should not run out of food at 7 pm. We gotta do better, it was a big disappointment and overrated place. Im sorry I won’t go back.
First time there with the family, Francesca was our server and she did a very good job.She paid attention to every detail and made sure we were well taken care of. Would definitely visit again.
Food is good I will give them that but make sure you ask for a receipt because they will try and rip you off I really hate to say it but I just experienced that and didn’t like it at all my server seemed shocked when I asked for my receipt and I saw items in there I did not order so I have nothing bad to say about the food but just double check your receipt
Amaazing food! The whole experience from start to finish is great, our server Ara is always so friendly and kind. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food and great drinks Ale and Paula make the best cocktails! 10/10 and the Kabrit so good!!! 🤤🤤 Chwa its a vibe
Food is great but the service is horrible! I came with 3 other people and it took 20-30 minutes for a server to acknowledge us, 45 minutes to receive our food and another 45 minutes just to pay for our meals. I don’t care how good the food is, I’m never coming back here again. The service needs to be a lot better.
I am literally just walking into my condo at 12:55am from visiting Chwa for the first and last time. I dont know if my expectations were too high... but its a lot of hype for no true reason... I ordered the jerk chicken well done, the chicken was undercooked, thus I left it there on the table, the rice wasnt good, the drinks were watered down... I ordered the Mimi Punch and Grand Marnier (they ran out of glasses and ended up giving us clear plastic cups), the Pepsi was literally colored water... the only thing I liked was the arugula side salad that comes with the entrée. The first waiter was rude and knew nothing, the female who took his place wasnt bad, but I think she was spread too thin with so many big tables/parties. The other 9 people in my party also left Chwa with a bad taste in their mouths. The DJ was weird with all those love and breakup songs (he played no scrubs, irreplaceable, etc 🤷🏾♀️) as soon as he started for 45 minutes... maybe he was still on the Valentines tip... the tables are long white folding tables with white fabric table cloths on them, the chairs were stained. The food is ridiculously priced for what you get (especially when they run out of items so quickly... got there around 8pm, no salmon, no cake, and other dishes). The service charge is even more ridiculous, especially when the waitress said it isnt her tip and I added another 20% (no matter how bad the food, drinks, etc... I always tip 🤦🏾♀️). I met the owner who was doing a live... I told her it was my first time... she was excited for me to get the Chwa experience and try the Mimi Punch... I tried it and if thats the experience... then its nothing to brag about... this is restaurant/lounge is trying to be high end and fabulous and could be... but the owners need to reevaluate some things... because right now it seems like nothing but a ripoff and some fake buzz! #thetruthhurts #toughlove #weneedtodobetter
The good was great, the service was gest, though I had to wait long, but it was a really beautiful and super busy night. The atmosphere was brilliant!! I honestly hope to find me a wife my next visit💘💘💘💘
Worst experience ever. Half of us got food while the other had to wait an hour to get something as simple as avocado toast. They were not even busy so it’s crazy that it took so long. The menu says bottomless mimosas but we were charged for every mimosa, the manager did not even try to accommodate us. The bathroom was nasty toilette can’t flush. Really bad experience
Came as a 4 top for brunch. Half the party received food 40 min before other half. It was avocado toast! They advertise bottomless mimosas but was charged per pitcher.Service slow. Not accommodating after feedback. Unfortunately, will not be supporting in the future.
The drinks were good and DJ was nice, service was ok. However this service charge makes no sense. The server made sure to tell us that we still needed to tip. This serve charge is complete robbery and I will not revisit because of this.
Chwa was excellent, the food was sooo delicious and the DJ was awesome. Two issues: hard to find a parking and the manager was rude to us tonight ( she was giving us an attitude, yea bring down a notch!!) not a great impression when it was our first time being there. We will only return for the food.
On their website its says brunch is at 11:00 and we got there at 12:30 and the doors were still closed and they asked us to wait an additional 30 minutes while they setup. There were no table cloth or utensils on the table. We had to wait 2 hours for our food while other people who came after us got served. The waitress was not attentive whatsoever and mixed up everyones order. The worst horrible experience ever. In my opinion only the DJ kept me sane the whole I was there.
Was looking forward to having brunch with my daughter here but quickly realized I have better CHWA than this!! Never have I felt unwanted & uncomfortable walking into a restaurant. We came before & enjoyed ourselves but this second time around we received the worst service ever. First off, no one was there to greet us. When someone finally did, she had a full attitude & was very dismissive. A line began to form behind us & we all were basically receiving the same treatment. We waited an hour before leaving. The food is not worth the wait!!
This was the weirdest experience I’ve ever had going to a restaurant. The server and host were rude and incompetent. My girlfriend and I walked in and were both misguided by the host who sat us at the wrong table, after a few minutes, we were told to move and be seated at a different table after the server had informed us about how the dinning table arrangement were, to which we complied and agreed to. We sat and waited to order some foods, but we were told they had a limited menu at the moment due to the fact they were still serving brunch at 7 pm and most of the traditional Haitian foods weren’t available to order. As a foodie, I am throughly beyond disappointed. I looked forward to trying out some of their traditional dishes in comparison to other top notch Haitian restaurants that I’ve been to, but to say this was a big letdown would be an understatement. I’ve had high expectations of this place after viewing and following them on IG, but you can never judge a book by its cover. I would not recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for real authentic Haitian foods and vibes.
Where do I start?I recently went to Chwa for a family (14) dinner and every single meal was on point and absolutely delicious. Love the location and the atmosphere. Chapeaubas to the owner. This is how my Caribbean people should always represent their country. However, the place is a little small for multi celebrations. My suggestion is to have portable room separators so each party can have a little privacy. The restaurant can be rearrange in a way to look more spacious. I will definitely recommend Chwa to friends and family, in fact Ive already done that. #LoveChwa.
Love going here. Ari, Ella and coke always make sure I have a great time. They might have the crown for best tasting Haitian food in Miami 😏
The food is very good. I will give credit where its due.The service is subpar. Everything takes 30-45 minutes plus to come out. Sometimes the servers forget about you. Lastly, the restaurant is extremely loud. Its a Haitian restaurant and they play Haitian music and hip hop...they have a DJ, so the music is at night club levels if youre there at night.
Horrible Service! From receiving service 45 minutes after getting seated, to platic utensils and cups for water. Obstinate on not wanting to split check. Only good part was the DJs!
What a beautiful gem tucked away in the heart of Hollywood Blvd. Ive visited a few times with family and friends on TacoTuesday. They have great management, the staff is always so courteous, I love the ambiance and most importantly the food is AMAZINGGGGG!! So far, Ive had the crab cakes and Salmon & both dishes were delicious. The flavors were exceptional and just burst in your mouth at the first bite. Kudos to the chef, Ill definitely be back to try more on the menu!!!!
I would have given this place a 0 star if there was one. My first ever experience went down the drain. I called to make a reservation for my graduation dinner, they didnt pick up but started texting me.So I went ahead and made the reservation through text and it was quickly confirmed, with the date and time.I knew i was texting someone since I inquired about the tables decor. The person shared the IG info of the decoration company and i got in contact with them. One day before my reservation I called again to add more people. It was added and confirmed. On the day of the reservation, i made it on time and there was no host/hostess, had to go to the bar to find someone. They told me they didnt put in a reservation. And the place was packed with people. They had the nerve to tell me to wait for 25 minutes before they could guarantee me some service.First of all the place needs a total reconstruction because its way too small to serve its community. The place also needs better management because it has potential.I will not give it another try and will tell others.
Great food!!! The one star is for service horrible service one bartender for the whole restaurant he’s overwhelmed I stand in front of him for an hour !!on Saturday night couldn’t even get a cup of water love the music and the ambiance again great but come on do better with the I love my people and want to support but the service is horrible
I am in Chwa now. We sat down at 8:55, order our food at 9:38, and our food is still not out. It is 10:41. This is ridiculous, if you want good service food and vibe go to pearl of the island its less than 5mins away
Don’t believe the hype. Over priced and poor service. I’ve never seen a Haitian restaurant charge this much for them to have such terrible service. The waitress take way to long, they are very incompetent, they don’t get your order correct and you wait an hour for the wrong food. They don’t even know how to count because they took forever to come back with my change after an even charge. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Food was Great tacos amazing fish hot rice cold plantains hard customer service and price was horrible never got charge for picklez at a Haitian restaurant that’s like the hot sauce .. drinks was bad for $30 they gave me a single shot and my server never came back to check on me . Not even bring napkins I work in the restaurant business traveled all they was from south Miami 1hr away and it was not worth it .. then it was flys flying everywhere ! Just nasty .. good for food not for vibe .. I’ll stick to small Haitian restaurant.. hookah was okay for $50 no refills !!!!
This is hands down one of the best places to come to for a good night worth of Haitian music, food, vibes, and a good time. Whether you come with a small group, just a date, or a good size group for reservation - this place is going to deliver a good time and experience.
I’m currently here and the short part owner told me I was too hype. It’s a lounge like why isn’t it more fun like they post on their Instagram page. Champagne $250 and the food was very hard. Fried hard that it wasn’t able to eat. Today was the first time it wasn’t good. The atmosphere and food. The crazy part it’s my birthday and I invited friends and family. Like I don’t mind that they always let their friends come drunk and eat for free but paying customers mood matters first!!!
Service is TRASH.. came here once worse experience with waitress Francesca.. from extremely long waits, adding things that weren’t ordered on the bill. Arguing.. literally grabbed my money out of my hand.Spoke to manager, resolved issue.. said working on different things to enhance service. He said I should come back cause it’ll get better.Fast forward to today. Service is still TRASH! Sat down.. waited 45 mins to Even receive a menu. For them to tell us they stopped serving food..To add… it’s a beautiful restaurant… from the first time the food was good.. hostess is full of life.. but service TRASHHHH!
I celebrated my mother in laws birthday here and it was such an AMAZING experience. Their service was top notch the food taste so good. They were so attentive and personable. I would recommend Chwa for any celebration 🍾. Shout out to Mimi for making it so easy for me to coordinate, Salim for showing love the moment we walked through the door, and my wonderful server Yanni who handled a hungry party of 13 with a smile on her face the entire time.
The food is 🔥🔥🔥 definitely my go to when asked where to go for amazing food and music. Located in a central location where everyone can enjoy. Parking is the only hassle but worth it once you get to this location
I’ve been here a few times,I’m Haitian so ofcourse im able to vibe to the music and ambience. the food is good, well seasoned as it should be.One thing I don’t agree with,is the price of the conch entree,$70 is pricey in my books.with the conch appetizer being about $25 with plantains.it has almost the same amount of conch if you ask me,just a thing of rice and some salad is the difference.felt a little ripped off.other than that,I like the spot.
Beautiful Restaurant, Great Environment and Amazing Food !!! Yal have to try the Griot and the Shrimp tacos, ohhhh and the rice omggg MY FAVORITEEE LOL !! and make sure you request Edlyn as your bartender at the BAR, she is AMAZINGGGG super friendly and sweet !! She makes the best Titos Lemon Drop Martini !!! Definitely will be returning. Thank you CHWA Hollywood for the amazing experience
Terrible customer service they are too slow and they got this attitude like they don’t wanna service you, they are too stand off-ish you ask for a service and it take 25 minutes before they come back and this is on a empty Wednesday literally can cough all the people in the building and it’s still like you don’t exist the girls are too nonchalant I don’t like that especially when people are spending their money on a business and I promise we weren’t rude or anything we waited patiently every time the whole time, we asked for a hookah and because we waited so long we changed our minds and just asked for the check, now why the hookah girl came to us after we asked for the check like are you serious look how long we waited but we politely told her no we good like come in na be fr
Really wish I could give this establishment ZERO stars!! Their staff lacks hospitality skills & professionalism! I attempted to attend Sunday brunch along with my group who made a reservation but when we got there they were very condescending implying that we had no reservation. Although we showed the proof of confirmation from them, they still denied it & instead of holding themselves accountable, they chose to blame my friend! After begging & pleading with them, they kept lying to us about finding a table. We waited an hour & a half & no one came to apologize nor acknowledged us, instead we were avoided & eventually left. There was another group there before us & they were waiting for two hours smh. . Never experienced this at any restaurant my whole life!!!
I am so sorry! I read some of the comments and I have to laugh! This is by far the best Caribbean restaurant in town! From the drinks, the food, the ambiance: Cant go wrong! I am a woman well over 30 and I enjoy myself EVERY SINGLE TIME! The cleanliness, staff, how well its put together.. Man listen! Bravo to CHWA!Oh! I cant forget the events that they have! ALWAYS right on time! Coordinated well, I am telling you, you cant go wrong!
The food was delicious and the customer service was great. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 star is because they took a while to bring out the appetizers and the meal. But other than that everything else was wonderful🤩
Walked in and waited a few mins before walking up to a worker to ask if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. After being asked how many we were seated at a table which holds four people. I told the gentlemen we have 7 in our party and he said just sit here till the rest of the party arrives. A few mins later a lady came over and we advised her of our party size and she said she will bring us more chairs. How are you going to sit 7 people at a table for four?
First time today my family and i , we went to this place on the February 14th is a very bad experience to us. Can you imagine, there was no customer service. First of all, nobody walked us to a table, fortunately I saw a friend of mine who asked us to share her table, so, we cannot stand the music,we were too closed. Second of all, a table was just empty, we asked one of the waitresses to clean the table for us, she answered us she couldnt do it because it wasnt her to take our order. So,after about 1:30 hour waiting, the waitress who took our order came to us to let us know that she was sorry because the cook just made her aware she didnt have what one of us has ordered. The place was so noisy... no mask, no distance.
Went in on a Saturday with a big group for my friends birthday, was seated after an hour and a half... ORDERED OUR FOOD and didnt get to eat cause they ran out of food after waiting another hour for it, kind of mad cause that griot looked real good. Server was super friendly.
This is a turn-up brunch, lunch, and dinner location. Ive been to Taco Tuesday, Ladies Night, and Sunday Brunch, and I had a blast every time. The music can be a bit loud but it comes with a turn-up vibe.
Music too loud! Have to scream to talk. Service slow. No tacos after 9pm but isn’t it taco Tuesday?? Omg!!!! Order appetizers no appetizer plates. Drinks watered down. Haitian restaurant…. Shouldn’t you sell black rice all night???? If I wanted yellow rice I could’ve stay at home!!!!!!Never coming back
From New York. Staffs were pleasant. Environment is enjoyable. Food was delicious. I will come back again whenever I am in Florida.
The music is too loud for such a small spot. You have to pretty much talk right into someones ear. But the worst part, is when my wife and I walked in, I explained I needed a table for 4. We were directed the couch section which is bottle/ hookah and I agreed to. As we waited for our friends and glanced the menu, the waiter came by and told us the table was reserved!! So we had to be relocated to either behind the speaker or along the wall from the entrance..we ended up leaving and found a better place. Bad experience for a first time visit. No 2nd chance for such a stunt
We had a birthday dinner party at Chwa. We had a blast. The food was amazing and they had a live DJ that was playing all of the best music. This is my happy place 😍
The food was great but ask for the prices because the menu has no prices and we were told how much we had to paid after we finished eat . If you don’t like surprises ask because they won’t tell you the total
Went to chwa to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and our waitress Francesca was awesome! The food, service, drinks and music was great. It was Definitely a vibe.
Went on a random Thursday night for drinks, turns out it was poetry night. The place was clean, tables well spaced out, hostess were knowledgeable about menus. Food was delicious. It’s a very simplified menu. I will go again and again.
I went there with my friends last night (Sunday) and the service was horrible. Our drinks didnt come on time (30 mns+) and some of the workers were just standing there doing nothing. I went there a few times on Sunday morning and the customer service is excellent. I guess the vibe is different depending on the time frame because its usually packed.
Its called Afro Fusion now. Its not as great as Chwa used to be. Theres hookah.
Don’t not go to this restaurant, the waiters will over charge your card and put any price on the receipt & make sure to check your receipt because they will OVERCHARGE YOUR CARD. smh Get better waiters who knows the correct price for your items on the menu.. HORRIBLE. I will not be returning there again.
