Fun piano bar, they did a great job with the requests and getting the crowd involved. Loved the energy and kindness of the staff. We were there with a birthday party and a great time was had by all. They do a nice job of recognizing the celebrations from birthdays, to anniversaries to bachelorette parties to divorce parties.

Didnt rate food because I didnt eat there. Service was ok. A bit slow and they messed up a drink, but they were also packed, so I dont expect perfection either. We had a great time and Im looking forward to going back again. The musical talent was AMAZING. Literally everyone singing or playing an instrument could be on the radio. Go see them all play, you wont be disappointed!!!

We had a happy hour at Howl at the Moon for my fiances birthday and overall had an amazing time. However, one of my friends had an unpleasant experience with the woman working at the front letting people in. She ended up leaving after only being at the bar for 10ish minutes, while the rest of our group stayed.I was upset by this, and reached out to the event manager, Shasta, so explain our dissatisfaction with how we were treated by one of the employees. To say that she handled the situation perfectly, would be an understatement. She offered to schedule us with another happy hour and was overall just so pleasant and kind. Im just happy that she remedied the situation and we are all looking forward to going back!

Really disappointed with the experience here. A couple of the musicians were really talented but the rest were embarrassing to listen to. Playing several instruments poorly is not what we were expecting in a piano bar at all. The music selections were like from a cheap wedding.We paid $140 (you get a $40 drink credit) for a table and were excited to be seated right up front but after like 2 songs the whole front area was filled with people dancing (terribly) and so we couldnt see the musicians at all. Plus everyone was really drunk so they were spilling drinks everywhere and bumping into our table trying to shove the chairs out of the way. Complete rip off. The server was either really slow or just totally overwhelmed so the drinks took forever.Weve been to piano bars before and so I was really excited for high quality musicians and a good show but all we really got were a couple dudes screaming into a mic, one really good female singer and a TON of very drunk college kids and their parents. So weird.Definitely dont waste your money here.

This is the best spot in Power & Light! Live music, great service from the bartenders and servers (especially Bekah), and fair drink prices. Love it here.

Fun place for a night out on the weekend. The live music was pretty solid. Crowded, lot of activity, especially when the band is playing. It is a bar on the P&L district. Cover is a little expensive. When it is packed, it is difficult to get a drink.

The band is absolutely spectacular! World class act! And the band members were down to earth, engaging and I had an amazing time. I wish I could take them home.Neph

What an experience! The small bachelorette group we had came to this bar and we’re almost going to leave when we heard there was a cover, but worth every single penny. The dueling pianos and musicians was the highlight of the night. I cannot wait to see them live again! What a fun night and exceptional music.

Howl At the Moon is always an amazing experience. Bartenders and waitresses are always helpful and in a great mood. The atmosphere is out of this world and is a great place for fun always!! I would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for some fun at a great place with great music.

I’ve been here a total of two times now and I really love it! My first visit was one of their themed nights (emo night). I didn’t have a table and it was pretty busy that night so I stood by the railings near the back of the bar. The band was fantastic! The bartenders were fast and super nice. The second time I visited I paid $120 for a table and honestly will do so every time I go. It was super nice to be closer to the stage and have somewhere to set our drinks. You can have friends with you by your table even if they didn’t want to buy one which (I guess contrary to others opinion) I really enjoyed! I saw in other reviews that people didn’t like how crowded it was by the stage. I actually didn’t mind it. The open space by the staged is used more as a dance floor and I thought it was fun to get up from our table and go dance and socialize. The band engages with the crowd, played our requests, and was very talented. I really don’t have anything to complain about with this place. Everyone I brought with me (all different ages) really enjoyed it too! Definitely my favorite!!!

Was not expecting such an amazing performance from the staff. At any given time they had two piano players going, a singer, and a guitarist. Overall a fantastic place to have a celebration and the servers were wonderful!

This was the worst piano bar weve ever been to. I paid $240 in table fees for a prime spot for my husbands birthday just to have people stand all in front of us and not be able to see or get to the stage for request. I dont think they even played our request. I left to go to the bathroom and when I came back someone had pushed our seats out of the way to make room for their group. We always go the Howl at the Moon or Petes Piano Bar when we travel and this was hands down the worst one. We just moved here and will not be back unless they adhere to the typical piano bar seating policies. I want a refund.. total waste of money.

Ali is by far the best person Ive ever had the pleasure of interacting with. She was very attentive and made sure that our evening was the best that it could be. I will be back and I hope that Ill have the pleasure of having her wait on us again! Well done Howl at the Moon!

Went here for my birthday on Feb 5th! We had a blast, they have a special birthday gift basket that they give out. $40 gift card and a jello shooter thing and a shot glass and other things. They took me on stage and I did this cowbell thing too. 5 stars! Staff was also amazing.

Great bar for bachelorette parties! The staff was so nice and attentive even when the bar was packed! Would recommend.

An edited review after visiting a second time... Fair prices and the music was excellent. The musicians were incredible. Dont waste your money reserving a table unless you plan to sit all night. The minute you get up to dance or anything, people will take your table - its not truly reserved. The staff is also not the friendliest.

This bar was unlike anything Ive seen before. The pianists were absolutely amazing, far better than anything I would expect in a bar, and as the night went on and more performers joined with guitars, drums, etc, the more mesmerized we became. The drinks were excellent. Even when we tried to go elsewhere to bar hop, we ended up coming right back. No wonder there were 3 bachelorette, and 4 birthday parties there. Wish we had a place like this back at home.

Pretty good. Nice drink specials, could be stronger. Kind of disappointed that there was no food, couldnt drink as much. We did enjoy ourselves thanks to that little Asian girl who was rocking out and the drummer guys that made the night. They get 3 of those stars.

Stopped in off the street (from out of town), not knowing what to expect. Our group had the best time and I personally couldn’t have celebrated my birthday in a better way! The musicians are extremely talented and really engaged with the audience.

Had our 40th high school reunion. The drinks, food and music were great. Good to reunite with old friends in such a nice atmosphere.

Not a typical dueling piano bar. Super talented musicians play a variety of instruments. Turns into a dance floor as the night goes on. Really fun time.

Loud and rowdy, as the name implies. We didnt eat, but the drinks were average, yet priced like an exclusive location. We paid $28 pp for a reserved seat, which included approximately a $10 pp discount on drinks. For 2 Skrewball singles the tab was $28 minus the $10 discount. In some bigger cities, this might be ordinary, but here in Kansas City that price is very high, even in the trendiest places. The singles were not a drop over single. The onstage music was good, and they engaged the audience well, which made the higher-than-average cover charge more acceptable. Our server was mediocre, but another one working near our table assisted us a few times. This might be the right place for a rowdy once in a lifetime event, but not for an ordinary weekend night, and we wont choose it in the future.

Came out for a birthday and was under whelmed with the entertainment. Shelby was the highlight of the evening. I don’t know that I would call it a dueling piano bar and much as a dueling keyboard bar. They are great at covers but not engaging the audience. I can’t wit to get back to Indy or NOLA for a great experience.

Great entertainment for your dollar. We go early to beat crowds, and Fridays are less hectic than Saturdays. Good drink specials and fair pricing. Entertainers/musicians do a fantastic job engaging with the crowd and our a very talented bunch.

This was so much fun! We had a girls weekend, and this was the highlight. The musicians were fantastic & put on a great show!

Have loved piano bars and Howl at the Moon locations around the country. This however is more of a dance club with backtrack thumping music. If we wanted excessive dance club vibe (with excessive vulgarity), we would have found a club.And frankly they didn’t pull off the dance club that well.Just disappointing.

Fantastic live music - strongly recommend. Diverse adult beverage options are good and reasonably priced. No food at this venue, but allowed to bring in food from other places within the Power & Light district. Very good after-party location to continue an evening after a T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center) event. Very close to the free trolley stop as well.

What a fun night! The musicians were outstanding, and the range of music they played was unbelievable. Something for everyone! Our server was attentive without being pushy.

Tiffany the bartender is AMAZING. She made great drinks, great conversation and overall has a wonderful personality that makes me want to go back! Thank you Tiffany for being so awesome to me and my pals.

My sister and I had a great time here! Musicians were amazing and played a wide range of requests. Very entertaining! A huge shout out to the excellent staff from our very sweet gal, Tiffany, to the security gentleman who made sure we were having a good time. We will definitely go back when we are in the area! I very much enjoyed the atmosphere during my first time visiting this location. The staff there was very friendly and I like the bar set up. Best of all is the live band/ karaoke style stage set up with 2 pianos. I felt like I was in a live concert. They performed really well. The girls were of the chain with the hip-hop or rap songs. Sound quality was awesome! I sure did have a great time there. I will definitely return for more future visits.

Pianos, multi instrumentalists, and live music all night catered to the suggestions of the crowd! Great spot. When it comes to the p&l district, this is one of the top places to go. Drinks are cool and the atmosphere is excellent. Highly recommended *if you can get in!!* Id show up early just to secure a seat!

So much fun hearing all of your favorite songs on pianos. High energy staff. Its always entertaining whether youre sitting down for a while or just popping in to grab a drink to take outside for the concert. Clean restrooms too.

Spent my day putting in new server, switch, and point of sale terminals and printers. The gentleman there in the afternoon was very helpful and easy to work with. We got what needed completed finished and got out of there at the expected time frame. Very clean and well stocked bar with owners investing in updated technology to serve their customers more efficiently!

Staff were very friendly. Drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. Live music was great and entertaining. All together the atmosphere here is awesome and a great place to go to with friends or even solo. The place fills up quick on the weekend but I never felt crowded or cramped. I will be returning here in the future for sure!

Very fun, great atmosphere! Bartenders are friendly. Stage musicians are quite entertaining. Very energetic and versitle. Dancing on the piano, switching between instruments. Liked it so much that we went here 3x while in town for a conference. They are very accommodating for groups - so much so that they opened on a Monday (they are usually closed) for the group. What a great time.

Super fun unique night. I thought the musicians were great and loved the variety of music. The drinks were low quality but service at the bar was friendly and fast… about as much as you can ask for at this kind of place!

Drinks way too expensive. I asked for the cheapest drink they had at the bar, after the first suggested drink ended up being $30. And the bartender said cheapest thing they had were straight alcohol shots starting at $7.50Not karaoke, but live music. It was all right, three out of the five singers were good singers.

Im from out of town and it seems like this bar gets better every time I visit! Extremely fun environment that is very different from other bars and they have great drinks here! I love that you can request songs to be performed and the fact they seem to be able to perform everything thrown at them! If youre from a smaller town the drinks are a little pricey, but typical for the Power and Light district.

Awesome place. Fantastic entertainment. Extremely talented group of musicians/singers that really know how to put on a show. Fair price on drinks and pretty clearly a favorite spot for the locals. Next time Im in KC, Im definitely going back.

By and by an average experience. Watery overpriced drinks and mediocre talent. Most performers were pretty good but one guy didnt vibe with the rest.I give them credit they try to accomodate most song requests

Great chill crowd!! I HATE power and light, Ill only go near that place for howl at the moon. Mixed crowd, friendly crowd and staff, good drinks, great specials. Anyone can have tons of fun here. Sometimes a song maybe blah but members if the band play multiple instruments, plus sing and play what the crowd wants!!!

I pre booked a table here for a friends bachelorette party and am so glad I did! The band was phenomenal and so talented!! They engaged the crowd and wowed us all playing requests of every genre all night. The servers were on top of their game and extremely friendly. Prices were great and the drinks were tasty! Excellent choice for a fun night out! If you are planning an event the cost of booking a table is well worth it!

Very fun environment. Loved the music and drink selection. Wait staff seemed short when we were there. Had to go to the bar to get our own drinks several times. We used to go when it was free to get in and Saturday night there was a 5.00 cover. Seems a bit much to me with the drink prices and parking but still enjoyed the evening.

Wow! I love this place! A must everytime we make a trip to kc. Amazing musicians, quick friendly servers. We had a private event here and the gal, Lacey, who helped us book the reservation, went above and beyond to make sure the experience was everything we wanted. Will forever recommend and return to howl kc!!

We loved the atmosphere, first time there. The performers didn’t play either of our songs choices despite tipping them. The drinks were all mix and no alcohol. I’d go back for the atmosphere but I’d steer clear of any drink menu choice that contains mix.

I came from out of town and this place is amazing. The band is amazing and I didnt expect the level of performance they gave. 10/10

They have a decent set list but they DO NOT play requests. I gave them two softball requests at 8pm when basically nobody else was there and they never played our songs. all my exes live in Texas is super easy. They repeated a song twice and played shaggy 3 times and still didnt play my song. This is Busch league

So much fun and a night Ill always remember! I set up my best friends bachelorette party just last Saturday and everything was wonderful! The Bachelorette Package was definitely worth it too - our table was reserved right up front by the stage. The staff was super helpful! We were unable to eat beforehand but our waitress hooked us up with Johnnys Tavern menu to order from and the drinks were fantastic. Definitely bring spare cash to tip the musicians - they deserve it!

Work held their holiday party here and it was awesome! The band was amazing! The specialty drink they made us was so good! They even sang a song about our company. Everyone in the office is still talking about the party.

The place opens at 7 pm. We got there at 7:45 and had to wait in line, outside, for 40 minutes!When we finally got inside, the only chairs we could find were in an isle. We were bumped into a lot!This is a piano bar where multiple musicians provide non-stop music. The musicians were excellent, but the bar was so packed, we had a difficult time seeing them. ...and it was really loud...! There is a small dance floor, but there were so many people standing, there wasnt room to actually dance!If you like a loud drunken party with some great musicians playing music that you cant really hear, then this is the place for you!

My company hosted an event here, it was great. The staff was awesome, the catered food was great, its a really good location. Its a great spot to host team events.

Great place for dueling pianos. Went there on Valentines Day and the music was great. I requested a very random some and they played it perfectly. The bartender was perfect and very kind even with how busy it was.

We were excited to spend a night out. We were unpleasantly surprised that there was a private event. We were not allowed in until an hour after posted opening time. Even though I checked their website. When we got there the door service was non-existent. The bar service was spot on. We went back to the door to ask about getting a table. She motioned to a row of barstools by the window. We sat there but the waitress never served us. We had to go back to the bar area for service. The entertainment was good and we enjoyed that.

Its an ok place, but the dueling pianos with drums was more of a live band taking requests. Not a bad thing but still not the same. The prices are insanely high though. No draft beer and a bottle of beer was $7.25, after one of those I went with a jack and coke which was $7.50 which is still high but at least I wasnt feeling as ripped off with that. Good place to visit once and never return to I guess.

This is always a stop for us when we are in Kansas City. The performers are great and the bartenders are on top their game.

First time here and although the piano players and singers are very talented, it wasnt what I was expecting. Having been to a Chicago location where they were actually focused on the dueling pianos, I was a little disappointed in all of the extra stuff (drums mostly) that was a distraction to the piano playing here. Probably wont go back to this one.

We are on vacation and heard of this bar with dueling pianos. We are so glad we worked this into our places to see! Wonderful place great service and unbelievable entertainment!!!! Kudos to the entertainment was able to sing any song requested, pick up any instruments and play....had a wonderful evening!

Arrived at 7pm right at open. Was there for 3.5 hrs not one requested song was played. Feel like there was a set of music non request... which is fine if you eventually take request or involve audience. Not one requested song played after 8 attempts. DesMoines location great, KC location no.

Tried to reserve a table. They emailed us stating they had a few tables left to call. I did, sent to voicemail, left a message we were still planning on coming. When we got there, no table. We waited several minutes before the manager finally came over. I showed him the email and explained what I had done. His response was that everything was full, meaning it made no difference that I did what I was supposed to. It didnt bother him in the least, which is what bothered me the most (customer service? ). We requested our cover charge back and left. Weve never had such a poor experience at a piano bar and wont be back here. Go to Big Sky, much better experience!

Good location and clean inside. But was dead after Metallica concert. Stayed for a few drinks with friends and listened to the pianos playing. Fun scene, even though it was more empty than usual.

I went for a 21st birthday party, and in my opinion I think this bar is for the older crowd (Which is interesting considering it is in Power & Light which is typically filled with the younger crowd). It was alright but I do enjoy the dual piano players. That does make it fun.

I LOVE dueling piano bars, so decided to go to KC for my 30th birthday, which happened to be on a weekend. My friend and i started out at Howl at the Moon, it was very slow at first so we were skeptical on how the night was going to go. Needless to say, we spent the whole night at Howl at the moon and didnt make it to any other bar that night! The staff was so friendly and made it a really great night.

An establishment can show their true colors when something goes wrong, and this establishment did not shine brightly. After enjoying this establishment several times prior, when my husband and I headed here Easter weekend, we were sorely disappointed. To start with, after requesting a total of 4 songs, only 1 was played. At some point during the evening, I was struck along side the head and was told by management that there were no cameras in the place and the only thing he could do was to move his security guards closer to my table. When we decided to leave, I talked to him again, and he was unprofessional and walked off with my check telling me, hed take care of it. I was charged for everything. Although the entertainment is great, I hope nothing goes wrong.

We had a great time at this bar for several hours, but I am giving one star due to the way we were treated in the end. A bouncer screamed in my face telling me to Get out! In a very hostile and frankly scary way because I had taken ONE tiny puff from a nicotine vape. There were quite a few people vaping in this bar that were not asked to leave. But Instead of politey telling me I couldnt vape in there, this man felt the need to scream in my teary eyed face and literally push my very wet(someone spilt there drink ALL over me) body into the cold night. Even tried to make me leave before closing my tab. I had been in several bars before this and was never told i could not vape. I will never go to this bar again because of that experience.

Went here to have a fun night out with my husband for our anniversary and we had called and made reservations we got there and it was dead but it was during the week. We walked in and no one seemed to have a clue about our reservation.we first talked to bartender and he told us to talk to the Door guy who was rude. They got the manager for the night and he said no one had told him about our reservations and he was going to ck on it. The manager said that he would give a gift card but could not Refund our 50$. We told him we don’t need gift cards because we don’t live here and rarely visit KC. Manager said we would have to call GM the next day to talk to him about getting a refund.My husband and I were very up set and left. The next day a different manager call my husband and refunded our money and let us keep the gift card for when we decided to come back and try it out again. My husband and I appreciated the phone call back in a timely manner and that they were able to give us back our money! We will try it again sometime and hope for a better experience because we really enjoyed that band that played there while we were trying to get things sorted out

I don’t really understand the hype of this place. It’s always dirty, nasty, crowded, and there are never any tables available. The band isn’t very good. The sound mix is always awful and all you hear are the cymbals. They rarely play your requests. Probably the worst club in the Power & Light District.

Howl at the moon is a fun place to go but I absolutely DO NOT recommend their howl to go for a wedding reception. My sister hired them for her wedding reception and payed for 4 people to play and I only saw one song played with 4 players. There were two guys more concerned with drinking the entire time! The guy who was drinking before the reception even started, messed up the wedding party intros and cut off the first dance song before it was done! When we told him the song wasn’t done he responded “I know”. We had to tell him multiple times to turn it back on. He also messed up the father/daughter song. How hard can it be?! So extremely disappointed and we can never get those moments back. They completely killed the party and everyone left early.

Went there for my wifes birthday. Put in a request for a song and acknowledement with a big tip. After numerous friends of the musicians got recognized and talking to a number of them asking for them to at least say happy birthday to her, and after waiting 3 hours, we left without any acknowledgement. They knew who we were, why we were there, and did not care at all. How disappointing. Wish Ernie Biggs was still around. Went there for her other birthdays. Will not go here again.

I LOOOOOOOVE this bar! $17 for a bucket of whichever drink your choose from their bucket menu $30 for a bigger bucket that you can share with one other person. It’s worth it! I came here for a friend’s birthday, it was great. We got our buckets, & came back about 30 mins later for a refill, some lady spotted us & gave us a drink ticket, the ticket is good for one free drink (not the buckets) I think I’ve found my new hangout for Friday nights!

Extremely disappointed. Went 09/22/18 for a friends birthday. Her husband reserved 2 high top tables that sat 8 we had 10 and they said we could stand around the table. So 2 of us men stood. Within 2 minutes a waitress was asking us to sit down because the people behind us couldnt see. So, we did fhe best we could to get out of their way. Within in an hour there were so many people no body could see. There were 5 entertainers. Playing a variety of instruments , none of them very well I might add and they couls not sing very well either. People were spending $ to send up requests fpr them to play but they had set songs that they did and they did not stray from them. It was of the most disappointing performances I have ever seen. There was one dark haired girl that could sing certain songs. The guy that played lead quitar thought he was Keith Richards or Eddie VanHalen and Gods gift to women but he was terrible. Couldnt play or sing. What a terrible experince. Dont waste your $.

Private party. Wonderful staff. When we got hungry they took orders for a restaurant and added the cost to our ticket. Fun time for my wife and I and we will return on our next trip to KC.

My experience here was amazing. Its not often I get to hear my favorite songs from the 60s 70s and 80s sung live. Im 24 and love to hit the bars, but never get to hear my favorite music (I was born in the wrong era). Whoever it was playing this past Thursday (nov 20, 2014) played nearly every song I requested from artists like Bad Company, Journey, the Clash, and even the Ramones (yay!). It was a great time singing and dancing along. I wish we had something like this in Atlanta. Ill be back every time I visit Kansas City!

Love this place. Always fun, attentive service even when the place is shoulder to shoulder! Manager helped us out with reserving a table and it was relieving on a weekend night to have a set place to go. I recommend the bucket deal on drinks! Thanks!

Entertainment was great. But 9.25 per shot for anything was a crock. My wife and I barely drink and our tab was $90. 9.25 crown. 9.25 root beer shots. Ouch! Most expensive Ive ever had. These were single shots too

Very loud- not the piano bar I was used to. Service was decent- more recent songs in comparison to 80s music and later. A lot of songs I didn’t even know- and I’m 26.

Girlfriend and I went for an hour. Girlfriend was accosted multiple time by drunken bachelor party men. They tried taking her bucket and we became concerned they were putting drugs in the buckets. After another drunk guy forced himself on her and her friend and we had to shove him away, we decided to leave early. A security guard was less than 5 feet away and did absolutely nothing. We felt incredibly unsafe.
