The staff and folks are wonderful. We stopped coming because it was too smokey.. We would love to come back when everything reopens if you could set up a smoking area outside. We miss Todd and the friendly folks we were dancing with. Please consider this when reopening. There are 4 of us that stopped coming because of the smoke.
I use to love coming to the trough but so far tonight I am not sure I will be coming here any longer. The floor is all the way lit up with all these disco balls and other lights.. It was a bit darker before and not soo flashy.. This is a country bar!! And it seems to be steering away from the country part of it. Im sorry to see the Jackie sold it! It has changed so much and not the same bar I loved to come to.. :( Also there are too many live bands here. I come here to line dance. A live band every once in a while is fine but would be even better if they came on Fridays and not Saturdays!! But the past few times I have been here it has not been fun. Please take it back to how it use to be!!!!
Great place to come dance, hang out with friends, and get your drink on! If you dont mind a few drunk fools, tobacco smoke, and the occasional outburst (which security does an amazing job at addressing.)Derek is one of the best bartenders that I have had the pleasure doing business with. He has a vast knowledge of the art of liquor and seamlessly remembers your drink, even with a packed bar! My girl and I come here religiously every Friday and Saturday and dont plan to stop!Ive only had one bad experience at the Waterin Trough and it was with one of the female bartenders. I was unable to get her name, but she was tending the bar on a Saturday night when Derek was out. I am one of the few patrons, possibly the only, that orders scotch from the well during Sink or Swim. I approached the bar, asked for a scotch and Pepsi and inquired where Derek was, and when I returned to my seat and took a sip I had received whiskey and Pepsi... So when I went to have my cup refilled I specifically requested Inver House Scotch, which Derek usually keeps in the cabinet on the bend in the bar. I was told by the bar tender that she couldnt serve me that because it wasnt a well . I then pointed to the cabinet and described the bottle to her and was again told that it wasnt on the well and that, They are all basically the same......For a bartender to say that, They (whiskey & scotch) are the same., is beyond me and I stared at her for a second and settled for another whiskey.Again, this was my only negative experience here, otherwise the Trough is the place to be!
Really great atmosphere. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Dance instructor was really good and knowledgeable. Very patient with class. Drink specials were good, could taste the alcohol. Overall, really nice place and will continue going back.
I have been spoiled by going to the round up for years. Tonight was my first, and last visit to the watering trough. Horrible service, horrible bartenders, and horrible DJ and sound setup. First off i paid for sink or swim, and received this disappointment of a cup which costs a dollar to replace, and I was insulted to find out that there was a designated bartender for sink or swim ONE LONE BARTENDER! Who in turn wound up moving slower than molasses. And after the old folks left, the line for the lone sink or swim line, wound up just shy of out the door (about 60-75 people long) i then refused to stand in that line and chose to give in to their scam and pay for their joke of a whiskey and coke from their other bartender, number 2 of 3. Which charged me 5 dollars for a coke with a tiny little splash of alcohol. I for one very very rarely drink. But i enjoy having a couple drinks and doing some line dances. I was extremely disappointed in this establishments execution of a country bar theme. In my honest opinion i dont see how they keep the doors open. I will never ever return. The round up and their awesome bartenders will continue to get my business and feel like home when i choose to get out and have some fun with friends and loved ones.
I would have given this a five-star review, however before I even got inside with my boyfriend and another friend I was reconsidering entry. We visited this place for the first time on a Saturday and were unfamiliar with their entry cost and specials (Sink or Swim). While waiting in line my female friend and I were chatting and enjoying our conversation when the girl working the counter reprimanded us. Yes, she pulled a librarian move and scolded us for talking and laughing. She gave us a stern, Ladies!, followed by a dirty look. The group behind us was even louder and as far as I was concerned we were allowed to talk and enjoy our wait in line. Once we got up to the girl at the counter we asked what the Sink or Swim was as there were no signs explaining it other than the cost. It took the three of us a minute to decide what we wanted and again we were scolded by the other lady who hands out the wrist bands. She said, You guys need to hurry up or get out of line. Sorry, I know there was a line behind us but we were unfamiliar with their specials and were trying to make an informed decision. The drinks for the Sink or Swim were pretty watered down and wasnt worth the $15. If it werent for the fact that we were meeting another group who was already inside I would have left and gone elsewhere.Aside from the rude staff in the front, the facility itself was a great size and the music was awesome.
When I came it was very Smokey. Why can’t it be a smoke free environment inside like restaurants. That would be so awesome. Recirculated cigarette smoke is just awful. That would be such a positive contribution - let smokers smoke outside.
I hope they will consider testing the crowd for a no-smoking night starting with the Tuesday beginners class. I think they will get a bigger crowd. The smoke is really a turnoff.
Worst dance hall ever-- and the thing is people actually line dance to 80s techno. They seem to be missing class and brains. Came here to two step. Im from Texas though, maybe Florida just doesnt have it. I believe you can walk in here and lose brain cells
Made me go in as 18 cause they couldn’t find my birthdate on a military ID, than charged me even though they say it’s free entry for military. So 0/5 if I could.
Dont recommend going here after the experience Ive had. Dallas bull has a better atmosphere, better bartenders, and a better security team that will actually do their jobs.
A country bar? Really? I was there for an hour and didn’t hear a country song at all. I’d much rather drive an hour to the stockyard. What used to be my “go to” is now my “stay away”.
It use to be great, but it is trying to reel in the younger crowd, which I understand, just drops it down a notch in preferred places to go
Had a Bachelorette Party there, reserved a table and the bartender was awesome! Will be going back again.
This place is close to a senior park way too loud needs to lower business noise or move awaytoo loud
The hours on their website/door are false. They’re too lazy to change any signs/online inquires.
Try watching paint dry, and youll have a better time. Expect to lose IQ points if you go.
Sink or swim Fridays are a lot of fun! Really fun crowd too!!
Great country music, atmosphere, huge dance floor, and the people are awsome.
The DJ is the worst. Came here for the first time and never coming back. Dallas Bull is where its at!!!
