Fun gay bar to hangout and chill with a drink. Definitely a place to check out when in town and talk with the locals. Affordable drink prices nice bartenders.

I used to frequent a lot. After receiving horrible service from the bar tender Teddy with the piss poor attitude on several occasions, I won’t be returning. Please find bar tenders who don’t mind actually serving customers. Refuse to pay for drinks and tip for subpar service.

I travel extensively for work, so, when you run across a “neighborhood bar” like this place, the stress and strife of the week fades away when you walk through the door. John, my bartender, is the perfect gentleman, and made this out-of-towner feel immediately at home. A great place for visitors when you are looking for something laid-back and relaxed. A definite place for those looking for something off the beaten path.

Visiting from out of town. The two new bartenders, Nate and zack are absolutely amazing! Big shout out to Nate for not only being an excellent tender of the bar but an exceptional conversationalis! If I could give more than five stars I would!

My experience was wonderful. The staff is so nice and the regular guest were very welcoming. I visited for thanksgiving holiday from dc and I had a wonderful experience and time here.

I had a blast there! Everyone was friendly, the drinks were great (strong and a good price), and the all around atmosphere was welcoming.Be sure to check out the treehouse out back! No, seriously, you wont be disappointed.The only complaint I have is the cleanliness, or lack thereof, of the restroom. But thats not enough to keep me away. John Taffer would have a heart attack if he came in, but I enjoy it.

This bars ownership and management is known to verbally abuse its staff in front of customers, even to the point of making violent threats. Steve Murphy the owner and Joey Betterton the manager can be seen drinking alcohol behind the bar, and customers do not get treated as if they want them to come back.

Oh boy were so I begin. Though the bartenders were friendly, this place just has a weird vibe. Maybe it was the crowd or lack thereof or maybe it was their drink options. I was disappointed to the say the least that this was one of the only gay bars in town. I know you all are trying to do the best you can. My advice is try to create a robust drink menu and bring up the energy.

The owner tends to get involved with the community’s drama. The bar manager is very unfriendly. I definitely do not recommend. The location is very seedy.

Passing through Memphis we were there early afternoon so no crowd, but it looked like a great venue. Bar, pool table, tables and chairs in the main area which has a simple menu with great prices.Towards the rear a separate bar which is a smoking zone, then out through the French doors to the court yard.Great layout, the barman was really friendly, wish we could have stayed longer.

Ive been coming here for years off and on and it is a great atmosphere with a smoke free bar up front, the backdoor lounge (where smoking is permitted) is comfortable and nicely furnished, with a second full bar. The back patio is where the beautiful old tree with the most awesome comfortable, be as you are attitude is not only acceptable but encouraged.

Definitely overpriced for a dive bar but happy to see more leather/bear gay bars.

This is something that people hate to hear. If you feel angry or violent, I suggest you get counseling.This is not safe for black people with substance abuse. Stigma and ignorance is bliss here.

This place is pretty nice. If I walked in Im sure the guys would know me by face but dont really know me. I see workers as workers and they just need a simple easy night tonight, ya know? The place looks great, it has a back lounge and a little backyard area. It has a tall fence in the back with a tall tree house you can go up in with the stairs on the side of it. Good to have private conversations, flirt, and get to really know a guy. Honestly this is the most gay male space I have ever been into. Most of the customers that come in that I stand side by side with in the same place are always male. So its pretty re-assuring that you can be you and try to flirt or talk to a guy without being judged if you like. In a homophobic way I mean, lol. Of course Im a 22 yr old young adult of right now, Im the little few of the young ones that come into this establishment. Truthfully speaking the average ages would be middle aged men, telling the truth. You have the regulars that mostly sit in the back lounge at the bar just watching a storm up on the televisions. This is a small bar/lounging place, if you are a gay male looking to find a guy or guy to talk to kind of just like you, this is the place to get noticed at. Most intellectual and college student guys come here as well. Its really different from the gay club scene here in Memphis, and I love that about this place. Also if you meet a guy here and he lives here you are bound to see him again on the same Saturday night, just start becoming a regular. Also other people of the lgbt+ community comes and some non-gay people too but its a minority which is lovely in my opinion lol.

If you want to see some of the raunchiest gay men, most with cigarettes hanging from their mouths then this is the place. Even the bartender Steve serves drinks with a cigarette dangling from his lips. Hey a little ash in your drink wont kill you! The outdoor patio is just as smokey. If there were 15 people outside at least 10 had a cigarette in their hand. After 10 minutes we left because my eyes were stinging from the smoke. We returned to the hotel and a shower was a welcome relief. I pity the gay men in Memphis....at least the men at The Pumping Station.

Its been about two years since I lived in Memphis ( I actually grew up there) and the Gay bar/club scene is extremely slim pickins. The Pumping Station is no leather bar by any means, it reminds me a lot of JRs in Houston except the Station is a bit more friendly both in staff and patron. There are tvs in both the bar up front and on the patio, I would come in and watch American Horror with brando. Id like to say its a great bar of its venue to visit while in Memphis but the fact is its the Only bar of its type in Memphis and definitely worth a drop by

Watered down drinks. I come thinking I can just hangout with friends and without public warning u cant enter without a proof of vaccine while everyone looks at u trying to enter the establishment #trashy true tea the bartender cant make most of the drinks you request

Love this place. Bartenders are friendly. Very comfortable atmosphere. Food available late in the evenings (steak on Wednesdays)

Great little hole in the wall spot near crosstown....The bartenders are always friendly and the available bar food will definitely hit the spot.

Prefer the outdoor areas. Wish we didnt have to walk through smokey back bar to get to outside gathering area.

Everything was fine untill one of the bartenders had a changed mood and kicked all of us out. I don’t know his name, and I don’t really care! Just be ware of those changing moods.

A quant diamond in the rough, hidden away on Poplar Ave suited with a full bar, the bartender Christian is super nice. Ill for sure be back.

Oh my Gosh, I havent been to this place in years. I believe it was in the late 90s early 2000s. I thought maybe this place was no longer around. Wow!... I think its high time for me to visit again.(I JUST MIGHT)
