A cute spot! Definitely, exceeded my expectations. Its not fancy, but its a nice place to hang with friends and have a good time. Went here during Labor Day weekend to visit my friend in Memphis for the first time. They had events all weekend including different bands playing. I didnt know what to expect but I loved the vibe to the place. They had cornhole, food, indoor and outdoor bars, plenty of seating, and my new favorite Memphis bartender, Jack! He was so good at making drinks and giving us recommendations. Very easy to talk to and made the whole experience so much better. He made the best white teas and strawberry margaritas! They sell food as well but we ordered too late so the kitchen was closed. Luckily they had a vendor there that sold brisket nachos. It was over $10 but it was a huge portion and it was worth it. Overall, the place itself was so cute and I would def come back next time I visit.
We had our 20 year class reunion Friday night mixer here in July 2024 and people are still talking about how great the event was. The event attendant we had, Brandon, was AMAZING! He went above and beyond to help whenever I needed anything. He anticipated needs with a smile and was such a joy to work with.I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Railgarten for an event. Jeremy, the manager is super responsive and easy to work with. He made choosing food for the event a breeze. While parking is a challenge, I still wouldnt hesitate to choose Railgarten to host another event.
Decent place, the menu leaves much to be desired. The burgers sounded very good, and they came out looking very tasty, unfortunately the meat patty was not at all good, it tasted like a frozen patty, thawed and cooked, that frozen after taste, which was too bad since the rest of the burger was pretty good. Fries were good. Not a lot of choice of draft beer, and somewhat a little expensive for such a small plastic cup. Nachos were decent, meat tasted good, but I am not a fan of queso sauce, but I am sure others like it. Seating and atmosphere is spacious and creative. The band playing on a Sunday afternoon was very good.
First time here while visiting the city and I had a great experience in a great environment. Staff were all helpful, friendly and had great attitudes when helping the customers. Guests were enjoying many different sections of the venue and all sections of the property seemed family friendly. This is a very unique gem!
Railgarten is definitely a chill spot to come hang out with friends. The atmosphere is very hippish yet diverse, and youll feel safe. It plays great music and has an awesome outdoor venue with fire pits for the chilly seasons. I havent tried the food but the drinks definitely do the trick. Kick back relax and enjoy yourself.
I really appreciate the impeccable service that I received from Marie. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very welcoming. Would 10/10 recommend and will be coming back!
We ordered food and never got it. Checked with the bartender and they said they had no food runner so the food was probably sitting in back (after 30 minutes of waiting) and asked if I still wanted it. Since Im not keen on cold fries and other food, I asked for a refund. They had 6 staff members standing behind the bar, chit chatting with no customers so Im not sure why having a specific food runner is necessary when there are so many people standing around doing nothing.
We went on a Thursday night. We were charged $5 each. Although we only heard 1 song b4 the band stopped playing. The food selection is very small. Maybe 10 items. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my friend ordered the fish po boy. We sat outside. The atmosphere was nice but there were 2 cats that kept coming to our table. They were not shy. When we tried to shooo them away they stood their ground. One even jumped on the table next to us. When we complained the manager got an attitude and said she would see what she could do. After abt 10 minutes she called the cats over and fed them. But when they finished eating they came back to our table. When we complained again, we were told that they were bar cats and that they lived there. I personally do not think cats should be in any kind of restaurant. Even if it is outside. Some of the customers had dogs but cats with no owner are different. It was the managers attitude for me. Like the cats belong there and we didnt. Especially after paying 2 get in and spending over $70 on food and drinks. I will not be back.
This place is huge, bring your posse!! Four stars only due to the parking situation, which sucks for everyone but about 10 cars. Not sure how it works late at night but it cant be good. Food is good, beer selection is limited but hits all the local Memphis breweries. You can sit outside or inside in the a.c play ping pong, volleyball, Cornhole, or sit and relax on some foldout chairs or on a picnic table, or relax in a hammock.
Brandon is the most friendly, accommodating , and attentive Bartender. He is THAT guy at the Railgarten! See him if you want to catch a vibe, ambiance is also a vibe💫the Mai Tai is EXCELLENT
Great hangout or meeting spot with indoor and outdoor seating options. You can eat, drink, play games (beach volleyball, Jenga, etc), listen to live music or watch a show since they host great events. Its hard to find parking during popular times but you can always park around the block and walk over.
I come to Railgarten mainly for the outdoor concerts they host. There are plenty of options to stand or sit. It is good for big groups, with a lot of food and drink options to make everyone happy.
Loved the atmosphere ☺️!! Brandon and Marie took care of me at the bar and the drinks were amazing(:!! 10/10 experience!!
Dope experience! Duwayne Burnside performance was awesome live raw, food was great, crowd loved it🫶🏾
Awesome place to spend your day and night hanging with friends and family including your dog. Yes I said dog. Theres a bar in every direction you look. They have fire pits all over the outside area with unlimited supply of firewood. Theres a stage inside and out along with ping pong tables and projection screens. The food is great and the atmosphere is second to none. I could go on all day about the place, you should go check it out yourself.
Great atmosphere for the entire family...even pets.... We love all you guys...
We went to see School of Rock Cordova house band here. Great venue for live music. The music was great with a great atmosphere. This place is a must for live music.
Great place but 3 lines of 30 people to get a drink is ridiculous. And this wasn’t during a band intermission. This lasted for over 3 hrs
Brought the kids to play outside before dinner and it was just dirty from the night before. On the playground alone there were several crushed up cans and a table with dirty cups and empty cans. There were condiments on the ground and several things we had to stop the kids from picking up. I ordered my drink ($9 on the menu) and food separately. Just handed over my card, didn’t see a receipt or hear a price (my fault there). Just checked my bank account and was charged $14.59 for a $9 drink. Food was good though!
Average place. Boyfriend got the French dip and it was pretty good, I ordered The Monte and it was just weird. I would stick to the typical raspberry jam for dipping rather than the odd mascarpone cheese they put on it. Drinks are ridiculously priced. A small flute of a mimosa was $6. Saw the champagne they used, very cheap stuff. Drink menu has no prices either. We went for Sunday brunch, figured an up and coming place would have better deals. Waitress didnt really come around much.We were excited to explore everything the Railgarten has to offer. Well give it another chance in the future, hoping by then prices will be better.
This place has limited parking so it would be best to ride share or uber. The venue is large but it is cold outside and they were having a private event at the main bar. They had a few food selections and they were missing drinks. The staff is extremely friendly and I like the open space outside. Will return when it gets warmer.
It was a mixed bag. There are parts of it I love. It has a wonderful outdoor complex with lots of things to do. It seems a great place to go with friends. It was however a little confusing as a first timer and the staff seemed annoyed that we didn’t know what to do/where to go.There website says they have lots of vegan/vegetarian options, but really it was just one thing. Veggie tacos with you had to get with no cheese and were pretty simple. The cocktails were also meh. So if you’re a vegan who likes cocktails, maybe not the place for you.But a carnivore who likes beer - I can see this being a favorite.
Had outdoor fire pits the night we were there. One of the employees worked to ensure our fire was going well before he moved on. Great atmosphere.
This place committed fraud by altering the tip and overcharging my credit card an additional $15 on top of the 20 percent I left. Do not go here!
This is a pretty happening night spot. Mutiple bars with different themes and seating areas. Live music, volleyball court for outdoor entertainment. They have a full menu. Kid-friendly with playground. Foldable lawn chairs for seating during shows. A unique place with a very fun vibe. You gotta see it to believe it.
So I didnt get to try their food yet, but I enjoyed the atmosphere! I came out to hear Cedric Burnside (Blues singer) and let me tell you he did not disappoint! The show was Life changing and I would definitely come back to check out the food! Thank you Railgarten for the amazing experience.
The environment is great. Very fun place to hang out on the weekend. Just be aware the parking is terrible. There were quite a few kids, which I thought was odd for a bar. And I got a cocktail that was pretty watery. 4 stars because you should definitely go, but be aware of some of the shortcomings.
We didn’t drink or eat, went for Lucky 7 Brass Band. Great vibe, plenty of room to dance.
Its a cool place to hang out. The appetizers I had were okay, nothing Id run back to get. I dont drink, so I cant speak to that. I did enjoy the performance they had outside. I will most likely return just for the performances and eat before I come.
Very cool atmosphere. The BBQ nachos were excellent and filling. We don’t live in Memphis any more, but if we did, we would probably visit consistently on nice evenings. Cover charge attempt was pretty high.
This is a fun place!! Live music, at times, in an outdoor, very relaxed atmosphere. Great for kids and adults. Volleyball, Cornhole and childrens playground are all available. Plenty of picnic tables. Lawn chairs and other seating. Several beverage centers sprinkled throughout with soft drinks and adult beverages. I have not had the food there, but it is available.
It was a nice vibe the staff was friendly. I ordered the brisket nachos and it was good just not enough brisket & they put the cheese on the bottom instead of on top of my chips. The drinks were better at the outside bar, overall its a very spot. I went on a Sunday afternoon, I think I will go again but in the evening hours to get a better feel of the atmosphere.
Nice local spot to watch sports, listen to music, or hangout with friends or family. They have a playground and multiple outdoor bars. The food is really good and the staff are friendly. Its generally clean. The parking isnt great though and the parking attendants are somewhat demanding.
Great place to go and I love going there with friends and family.
Fun night out at Cooper Young area. Mardi Gras night with descent band. Slow on drinks depending on when you get there. Outside was spacious but due to the weather condition, I cant stay out there for long unless you get a seats around a fireplace. Kids can hang out in park and beach volleyball area, so good for a family night out as well.
Great place good food and drinks! Lots of fun... great customer service. Honestly, I went for the first time sometime during the pandemic and it wasnt that memorable...we couldnt remember what we ate or drank... never went back... Recently visited for the celebration of Life for our Memphis Queen, Lola Mitchell...aka Gangsta Boo ...only had drinks and hats off to the young lady who was serving drinks on the inside... told my friends we gotta go back and we did...the burger is amazing, exactly what Ive been looking for... I told the server it was one of the best Ive had in a long time... she told me it was farm fresh and I was like yep thats the difference I get coming through...the brisket nachos were just as good! Hopefully they stick with the fresh products... Ill definitely be back sooner than later!!!
The Ambiance is very nice. Lots of people, the band was great they normally have live music or sport events. perfect for friends or date night. I havent tried the food yet, but the drinks are great. Can be a bit crowded on the weekends. Fish bowl drink is so good!
Mixed drink was weak and not very mixed, more sort of layered. Burger was REALLY good, surprisingly good. Was there during the day, seemed like a fun place. No idea what its like at night. Parked around the corner on residential, theres a pay lot around the corner if youre into that. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Decent place to go, but get there early because they charge a $10 dollar cover, and the band has to stop playing at 10 pm because of the neighborhood directly behind them. The music sounded great for the one,and-a-half songs I heard walking up to the place and going to the bathroom. Prices are really high too.
A friendly, fun atmosphere. There were bars on the outside as well as the inside. There was a sign there that said, I love Memphis. I had to take a selfie. There were lots of fun entertaining things to see and do. There was even a volleyball game setup,
All of the shootings thats been going on there in the last month makes me stay away
We started at The Farmer with dinner, which was very good. Our son is allergic to chicken, so we ordered him fries. Our waiter, Noah, let us know that the fries are cooked in the same oil as the chicken. We really appreciated the concern! After dinner we went outside to a very cool area with live music, a sand volleyball pit, and an expansive playground. Our son really enjoyed playing while the wife and I listened to live music from the Memphis All Stars, who were incredible. Especially the young kid they had drumming!Last, but not least, was the guy working the entrance. He was entertaining and talked with us about our trip. He was awesome! We loved everything about this place. Definitely recommend!
I went here for the first time and I really had a great time! Nice people and nice vibes! I love the outdoor part the most. I went only for drinks at the outdoor bar which is also really cool! The drinks that the bartender, Ed, made were great!!! I will be going back. I have heard good things about their food as well. I will get some food and drinks next time. I highly recommend this establishment!
Great place to watch a game, show, or trivia. Food is so so but thats not why you go here.Great outdoor area with corn hole, sand volleyball, and playground for kids during the day. Dog friendly!
Great place to bring the kids to burn energy while catching up with fellow grownups. Open a tab at one bar stand and go to whichever one has the shortest line. Order food and they bring it to whichever table your sitting. Love going there as it’s all contained and my child can run and be free. Will return.
Overpriced, compulsory gratuity is a let down. Tipping is supposed to exist for good service, not being a compulsion. The cocktails are mediocre, but the atmosphere is pretty good.Reply to Railgarten: We were 2 people but we were charged a gratuity directly on the bill.
I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere. The band playing last night was amazing. The DJ also had a nice selection of music in rotation, after the band finished their set. The drinks and food were decent, but the short rib nachos were cold, and could have used more sauce, or melted cheese. I will be visiting again!
This is a great outdoor venue, and Ive never seen it used to full potential. Id love to see it with people using every space--it would be a HUGE party! The outdoor stage is perfectly positioned, with plenty of room for performers and not a bad view in the joint, and the indoor stage is classic, with enough height to give everyone in the hall a good vantage. The multiple outdoor spaces are fun and lend to so many fun conversations and opportunities for people watching. I also love that theyre dog friendly--our pup has had a lot of positive social training at Railgarten.I will say though, that I will never eat their food. They have not one thing vegan friendly last I checked, and Ive checked multiple times. The last time I checked on fries, the vegan go-to in uninformed eateries, I was disgusted to see them proudly labeled as fried in duck fat. This is the one huge, significant hole in an otherwise great venue.
Neat place. Sand volleyball. Live music.
Good food and drink in an **amazing** outdoor space. Really, really cool. I was skeptical after being charged $10 cover at the door (in the parking lot), but the band was decent and the rest of the experience made it worth more than that.
Got a invitation to go by a friend to check it out.Great place to go and hangout with your family even kids.Very pet friendly.Had a nice outdoor mini concert last night. Great BandPlenty of Bars to get drinks from and the menu for food was pretty good.We ordered Chips and Queso..Very good.We will be back.
I was served raw chicken. 😑 Thats just a no go for me. My chicken tenders were raw in the inside. Luckily, Im very observant or I would have eaten it. My partner on the other hand ate a whole tender. We dont know whether it was raw or not. Let us pray he doesnt get sick. Its a chicken crisis going on and too be served raw chicken... 🤢🤮. The manager did apologize. He was very nice. Im not one to make a huge fuss. I simply asked for my money back and a margarita. Check your food though while youre out there drinking and having a good time enjoying the live music. I also tried their nachos. Youre getting minimum cheese and meat. The meat was brisket. The brisket was hard. I would not recommend. This was my first visit. Its easy to spend a 100 in here. I mean FAST. My friend has been hyping this place up for months. Ive definitely been to better places in Memphis. I would come back for music but Ill never eat here. Ever.
Love love love seeing The Big Damn Band. It was such an awesome night. My hubby first time seeing the band and he was truly own always. Rev. Peyton played an axe you guys thats a first for me too.
One of my favorite spots in the city, especially for outside seating. I always like going here for trivia and hanging with groups of friends. Food portion sizes could be improved, for instance I ordered some cheese balls and it only had 3 small cheese balls for $10-12, cant remember exact price, but I just felt it wasnt worth what I paid. Portion size was kinda small for an appetizer. Needless to say, I didnt share my balls with anyone lol. I still love you though, Railgarten! :)
Update: I finally went back. The vibe is still good, but this place definitely scammed me. They charged me 140+ dollars for four drinks. My friend and I each had two. Thats 35 dollars each, even though the website says 9 dollars. I dislike dishonesty more than anything else, so Im going to update this review to reflect that. Bartender wouldnt give me an itemized bill, so thats the number one indicator that they are tracking extra drinks in the 5icket that dont belong.Original Review: This is a pretty awesome place with a hippie vibe. I love hanging out there when its own. Its got a great friendly atmosphere. People even bring their dogs. And there is plenty for anyone to do no matter what their age is. I always try to bring people there when they are in from out of town. Unfortunately, the last three times I tried to go they werent open for one reason or another even though the websites indicated they would be.
Music was awesome. Drinks were good. We didnt eat. The music is loud inside, but they have outside areas where you can go to tall and eat also.
Amazing. Live band is awesome. Food is great. Fun place to hang out with you friends. Is kid friendly. Bring tennis shoes because they have a play ground and a sand box for volleyball.
Nice place! Great band. I went on a Wednesday night with some family members. Great place to come relax and listen to live music. Only thing that I think wasnt cool is kids are allowed. Alcohol is being served and kids should not be in the same space.
Rosha is the bomb! She makes the best drinks and is a great conversationalist. Even though she is not a manager, I see her going above and beyond to help coworkers who are struggling on her shift and making sure guests have the best experience. She recommended the blackened codfish and I will never eat anything else there again!!!
I can deal with mediocre food. I can deal with mediocre service. But their cover charge is either a sham or their entrance is ran poorly like everything else here. Literally saw them let in a group of people in without charging them. Heard the bouncer say its alright let them in they dont have to pay. Then they proceed to tell me they have an event that is 10$ per person. I get the band has to get paid but at least be consistent. The only reason this place gets two stars because their washroom attendant was only part of the service that was actually good.
Cool place, but be careful and check your bank statements after you leave here. My husband and I ordered three drinks and shared one appetizer. Charged us $80 and then the next day we had another charge for $60.
THIS!!! This!!! what an amazing spot. EVERYTHING you can imagine to hang out & chill is here. Now it’s January and a teeny bit 🥶 chilly; and we still had a blast. Fireside beers in the courtyard rocked! But imagine volleyball, grilling’, corn hole, live music — it’s all ready for summer. We still loved the vibe in the desolate winter. Staff is super friendly!!
The atmosphere of this place was fantastic, and the food was quite tasty. Things were a little pricey but not outrageous. The one thing holding them back from 5 stars was the service. The first waitress we had never came back after we placed our order, like ever. After that it was miscellaneous random encounters with waitstaff and constant (but awkward) eye contact with management until we finally got our bill. Too bad, because this truly is a cool place to check out.
Parking can be a bit of a challenge and its a little overpriced, but what weekend hangout doesnt have both of those issues? Awesome place to hangout, listen to live music, and drink.
Went here for my sons 21st birthday. It was a great place to be loud. And the drinks were good. The server was so awesome. Wish I could remember her name . We ate.our body weight in the duck fries. So good and the sandwiches, were great. Chicken and the burger with pulled pork on it. Great. Id recommend this place. And I will definitely go again. However, there was trivia night and we felt left out because were not allowed to participate. The music was turned off and so was our evening. We left shortly after the trivia started. I will be sure to skip the trivia days in the future.
Great hangout spot to eat, drink, and play!!! Live bands on certain nights. Bar areas are set up all over the complex & plenty of areas for you to sit. Atmosphere was GREAT & service was A1!!!
The place is huge and unique. Great staff and in a safe and beautiful part of Memphis. If you dont have fun there thats on you!
Love bringing my kids here as a great way to let them burn energy and still get to spend time with friends and family. New menu is delicious. Looking forward to more warm days listening to music.
The diner was fun, but the bar was super loud and Iver crowded. We wanted to have a birthday get together but couldnt hear anything over the music. We retired to the diner. The food all seemed way too heavy and really pricey. Its nice to have lighter options that arent rabbit food. I like trendy dishes but I wish it had a few more sensible things to order.
Cool laid back spot. Good food. Beer prices are a little on the too much side but overall its something different and I feel safe there. The sand volleyball area is a plus. Gives that beach feel. So nice and pleasant.
Great atmosphere definitely! We take the kids on trivia nights and relax . Family friendly Will keep returning. And the bartender Jess is 100% the best!! Theres something for everyone
We went there to see a local band play. The atmosphere is great, very much like a backyard frat house party. The food is good, but some items are a bit pricey for what you get while others, such as the chicken fingers, are reasonable and the portions are generous. The mixed drinks, beer, and wine were pricey for the pours. While the table service was good at the start of the evening, it rapidly declined afterwards and it was hard to get refills of water or wine, which the bar did not serve. (I would have given them an additional star had it not been for this.) Also, be prepared to pay a cover charge when theres a band regardless of what their website says. I didnt mind since the band was great and a lot of fun.
Great place to hang out and enjoy drinks. Its a surprisingly large place tucked in the middle of midtown. Theres volleyball, ping pong, a stage for live music, and even tons of room for kids to run around. The food is awesome but a little pricey. Even so, its our new favorite hang out.
Really awesome atmosphere! Theyre signature burger is absolutely to die for, and theyre drinks are pretty damn good too. An awesome place to go if you want to experience a variety of bar themes without having to go all over the place. Will definitely go back!
Good place to hang out with friends. Service can sometimes be terrible though.some of the bartenders are having a bit more to drink then the customers and barley function .. I dont really care what people do at thier jobs but when it start affecting the customers experience. Its just like how and why do you keep these people on the staff. Get the service together and I would happily give 5 stars.
Such a cool place to chill when its nice outside. They have live music, a billiards room, a restaurant...Its great for the whole family and kids can run around the outdoor area. They are some yard games to keep everyone occupied as well. Check it out!
One of the bartenders inside was cussing up a storm, dropping the f-bomb and complaining about other customers to us while my Dad and I were trying to order drinks. They were also not wearing masks (one had her mask dangling off her ear while complaining of how hung over she was). Just not something you tell customers. The food was hot and fresh, and delivered to our table outside by the private event booths. Their kid area was spacious and had tons to do for my nieces.
The venue itself is unique and a great idea. The service itself was probably the worst that I have had in a long time. Ourselves and our friends each ordered a full order of Brisket Nachos that were good, except our friends were served first and were given a half order, then we were given our order it was twice the size. When we asked about it, we were told that there order was a full, but they were out of the bigger plates. The problem with that was that we recieved our order after theirs. It was very obvious that they were cheated out of their full order. Also, the bartender outside by the shipping containers had a very bad attitude and had made two terrible drinks. We are from out of town and try to eat at local establishments, but will never go there again nor do we recommend it to anybody else. The employees at the gate were really nice though.
Over all really cool place and we are lucky that this place is in our city. Good food, volleyball, small entertainment venue, and a place for kids to play. Definitely a place to check out.Food was good too. Somewhat of a different menu in my opinion, but still very good. Place looked really clean.
This place is a bit of a rarity. It has both a large inside area and outside space that are perfect for summer afternoons. The outside is very family friendly and youll often find the friendly pup on a leash around. Kids will be playing on the outside kids play area and adults will be playing corn hole or ping pong outside. Friday and Saturday nights are sometimes more adult themed with the occasional DJ or event. This is an alcohol establishment but i have never seen anyone beligerant or too intoxicated and Ive been many times. Its a very laid back atmosphere and when it is busy they open the outside bar and have several different places to purchase drinks. A large stage is outside and a live band is usually playing in the summer. If youre an adult looking for a place to relax and maybe have a drink or a some fries definitely check this place out. Bring the kids and maybe even the well behaved dog for a good time.
Stopped by for the first time in the late afternoon with 2 friends. We saw a matinee then wanted some drinks and a snack. Railgarten was nearby, so we went by. Its a place Ive been wanting to visit since moving to the Memphis area a year ago. The drinks were good-- we had margaritas and beers. Then we ordered a sausage and cheese plate and that was YUMMY! A few types of cubed cheeses, hot mustard, crisp cracker triangles, sausage strips, peppers, fresh fruit--- it was a win for all 3 of us. The only negative was that the bartender- a younger, dark haired, girl- wasnt very friendly. We were there last week on Tuesday around 3pm. She couldnt have cared less if we enjoyed our experience or not. Im sure they can find better employees who WANT to work! Otherwise, come try it out. Theres something for everyone! And the vintage lawn chairs took me back to my grandparents backyard. It was nice!
This place has a lot of potential but the food service is awful. We ordered dinner and the bartender managed to completely mess it up. Then when we went to ask where our food was she called my wife a liar and was not helpful in trying to fix their mistake. Even the manager was not helpful and also very rude. Sad. They should really consider a better system for food delivery. They got overwhelmed by a few customers :(
This is a Memphis must! Three different bars with two of them being tiki style dive bars, a volleyball sand box, several different fire pits and stages and GREAT food. Heads up though that parking is extremely limited.
One of my favorite bars in Memphis. I love that there is so much to do here. Volleyball, ping pong, beer pong, sitting in a chair listening to live music outside, great atmosphere. It’s hard to get a drink sometimes because they’re so busy but that’s okay. The diner is good too.
I enjoyed my time in the diner. This location has frequent live music and a nice, chill atmosphere. The menu recently changed. While not bad, I definitely liked the previous menu more. Many old menu items were low carb, heavy on the flavor, and not readily available at other restaurants. I would have given a five star if the old menu was present.
If you like eating your food outside surrounded by dirt and gravel, then t his is the place for you. I, on the other hand do not. The food is so,so. We were there with a large party and we had buffet style as part of the package. The staff were friendly, but they were slow about refilling the food. They got better only after we went looking for them. Plenty of places for the kids to have fun. Only good thing. Forewarning, the parking is a nightmare.
My workmates took me here today for my birthday. I really liked it! The food was awesome and the service was friendly and very good. We ate in the diner. The atmosphere and music were good also. Some had ice cream afterwards from next door. I did not so I cant comment on that but they enjoyed it. I understand they have other buildings and outside areas with games and live bands.
I normally enjoy hanging out at Railgarten. However, they were out of iced tea for their specialty cocktails, and there was one stall in the bathroom that was usable, but leaking water. I brought my out of town friends here and we were all disappointed.
Parking was less than adequate. Bathroom in the 1st building had no soap, bathroom in the tiki bar area had no paper. No one seemed to know about our reservation, but they did find out with a phone call. The person that seated us didnt explain how to order our food and drinks so we were sitting there for the longest before someone went and asked about our server. The food was good. The drinks were very good. Atmosphere was very chill and friendly. I at 1st thought I would never return, but by the end of the night, I will be coming back. Maybe. . . . The website states there is valet parking, but there was not even though the cones were out.
I absolutely love this place! Its similar to a few other places in Memphis, but better because it combines all of the best aspects of them. It has a ton of different options for outdoor and indoor seating, with different levels of activity around them. Not only that but it also offers giant Jenga, beach volleyball, live music, a playground for kids, cornhole, and much much more! This would be a fantastic place to come with a group of people and hang out all evening long period They also have areas for private rental in case youre wanting to have a small gathering or party in a private spot period I would say that the drinks are a pretty average price considering the location
Fantastic experience here over the weekend. Had a dude, First 48, who walked us to our car, given that there was an assault nearby recently. Our whole group couldnt stop talking about how reassuring and safe we felt.Good to see Memphis stepping up and showing some love during this difficult time. God bless
This place is huge and a great place to party and/or hang out. Great food and drinks 🍻🍷. Indoor / Outdoor environment. Fire pits, two stages, volleyball, Lots of big screen TVs for sporting events. Private seating/events areas.
We brought a busload of youth to this new place and they LOVED hanging out in the backyard, which was comfortable, entertaining and breezy the day we went in early June. Everyone also raved about the delicious food! It was very nice to have a place downtown that we could enjoy instead of just running through like a cattle call with 36 individuals to feed. The prices are not low, but it was worth it.
This place is amazing. From the time we walked in the door we were welcomed, the hospitality is unreal. The menu choices are unique, but delicious and Ive never eaten any types of food like this. I normally dont eat hamburgers, and would never order one at a restaurant, but i tried a piece of my childrens burger, and i knew i would definitely come back just to get one!
Last night was the first time for my wife and I. We truly enjoyed the Atmosphere. We came to watch the fight. Our only issue was the fact that there were no chairs at the table(s). We stood for four hours. Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves. I have a good feeling that we will be back.
I had a wonderful time being that it was my 1st trip there. The entertainment and games kept us busy until we left. The drinks were good but I didnt try the food but it looked delicious. Nice friendly atmosphere.
Amazing atmosphere. Very nice security gentleman at the front. Honestly there was a bit of some attitude from the bartenders but nothing that cant be looked past. The live music makes it worth it. Would recommend
Great place to bring the kids and pets. Also a great place for live music at night Thursday - Saturday and mid-day show during brunch on Sunday. Sand volleyball court which is the home of 901 Volleyball tournaments, ping pong, corn hole, trash pong (beer pong using a volleyball and trash cans), frozen drinks, ice cream, lawn chairs, Trivia Wednesdays... Just a very cool place to hang out.
This is a nice venue, the staff is friendly and its comfortable. Downside is the stage is low so you cant see much if your not tall or in the front. So get there early and get your spot
Love it!! The food was great, well the burrito breakfast at least, lol! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff! Have to come back and try the Parlor and experience the outside atmosphere. A lot of games and also indoor ping pong! Great addition to this area!
Went on a Saturday with family, including small kids. Kids played in different areas outside while the adults hung out and watched football around the fire pit that was well-tended to by a worker. Definitely a cool spot to chill. Would recommend to anyone.
An amazing venue fit for nearly all occasions. Enjoy a drink and some music inside, or play some volleyball with friends and drinks outside. During the colder months (and warmer), sit outside by one of the many firepits or firetables whilst live music keeps the squad entertained.
Really great music venue 👌
This restaurants deserves 0 stars, actually. My friend was the first to order, he got his food last, and he found mold on the bun on his burger. The staff observed it and said it was fine to eat. How could someone recommend eating something if it can cause a serious health hazard that can get you very sick? We waited a long time and expected our food to be delivered to our tables. We waited for an hour and found our food sitting on the bar because the waitress forgot to serve us the food. Who forgets to bring food if it’s their job? My son ordered off the kids menu, chicken tenders, and got the most soggy, chewy, and cold tenders. In addition, they tasted straight out of a grocery store freezer and tasted horrible. got the burger and it was small and not worth the money considering it was missing many of the ingredients it was supposed to come with. The service here is a JOKE if you couldn’t tell already. The waitress completely ignored another one of my friends and was extremely rude when she asked to get a refill on her soda. Overall, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND to anyone because this place is a disgusting nightmare.
The staff didnt seem particularly competent. The waitress tried to take our order by memory, without writing it down, and, unsurprisingly, forgot one of our partys order. Furthermore, the food was nothing special. It wasnt bad, but it was not worth the price. This place is one of the many who suffer from the delusion that putting unusual toppings on a mediocre hamburger can make it good. Maybe the other items on the menu are better, but, at the prices this place asks, Im unlikely to ever find out.
Cool place with many options. Door price fluctuates greatly be ready for $20+. Music selection is interesting. Food is good for the setup. Drinks are fair prices. Place is kept clean.
The best part of Railgarten so far is the staff and conceptGuy at gate called the restaurant gourmet and judging by the prices it must be but I could not eat there the day I stopped by. Couple of bars and sand for the kids to play in with plenty of music on, surounded by old box cars.
Love this place. From the live bands, to the fire pits, to the indoor and outdoor ping pong tables. I wish they never took the nail and hammer game away. It was the best thing ever. Good for groups and hangouts
Variety restaurant in a hippie, chill setting in the heart of Midtown. Lots of meal options - indoors and outdoors spaces with amply room for social distancing. Excellent customer service all around. Prior to COVID-19 weekly live musicians/bands provide a wide range of entertainment for patrons. My wife and I enjoy the atmosphere and the high level of customer service received on many repeated trips here! Also you can enjoy boiled crawfish when in season here.Social distancing effectively practiced here.Thank you
We attended the Eric Gales EP release party on 1/28/22. It was the worst music venue Ive ever visited and Ive been in every super arena and dive bar across America. The party was for about 300+ ticket holders and there were maybe 50 seats available, leaving others to stand for hours. Since I had contacted Railgarten earlier about seating and they indicated that the limited seating was at the request of Gales, I dont necessarily blame them. He was hours late, gave a lackluster performance, and totally misread his audience. If he thought a mosh pit was appropriate, he guessed wrong. The majority of the audience was 40+. I am 69, disabled, and unable to stand. To the venues credit, my husband explained to the manager and he found a backless, hard metal stool that I pushed against the wall. The drinks were okay. For its intended concept, I imagine many people enjoy Railgarten. My review is for that night only. I encourage ticket holders to check in advance. They did advise that we arrive early; I just didnt realize that meant hours earlier! And one last note. They were very responsive to my questions.
Great environment! Lots of room for activities and live music on an outdoor stage. Drinks are a bit pricey, but its a good place to get the night started. Music usually ends around or before 11pm
Ate at the Diner early afternoon. We were told it was a newer menu, and it was very narrow in scope. Waitress was alright, very quiet and didnt check on the meal. Food was good, a bit pricey Id say. Sodas tasted flat and a little off, also the unwelcomed guests crawling all over the table - ants, could have been nice. The grounds were grew with the stage, outdoor bar, games, and everything else were great! Looks like its be a blast on a Friday or Saturday night!
I ordered nachos and after 30 minutes, and several orders served, I didnt receive them, so I went to the bar to ask the bartender to check, he was so nice and polite and he went to check, he also picked up some chips to gave us while we were waiting, and finally told the manager about the issue, manager offered to cancel the check and also gave us two nacho plates. Excellent service!!!!
Amazing, spacious outdoor area with giant Jenga, life size beer pong (volleyballs and trashcans instead of ping pong balls and solo cups), ping-pong, a volleyball court, and other things I’m probably forgetting. Great areas with both sun and shade. Solid, large inside area, as well. Highly recommended.
We were the only two in the front bar. It took at least 20 mins before we got our drinks, the bartender was on her phone while we were waiting and I watched her stop to check her phone with peoples food in her hands waiting . It only bothers me because Ive been a server and trainer for 15 years. The food was delicious and it was only the chicken strips . The portion could have been a bit more generous for the price but overall definitely worth 4 stars .
I didnt want to review Railgarten after just one visit. This visit was awesome and the bartenders were on point and fast. Even though I prefer the outdoor concerts, being indoors last night was so much fun. Ill definitely be back for more concerts.
Great place to grab a cold adult beverage and excellent food before a Fb game in Memphis!!!
I was excited to try this place out as I was at Knife Bird across the street and heard the music and was immediately enticed! So, I grabbed a few of my girl friends to check it out the following weekend. Parking is always a hassle but nothing to complain about. There was a $5 charge to enter which was surprising but I even overlooked that part. Its a nice outdoorsy place that have many places to sit. You can play games or simply find a place to chill with your friends to talk. However, my disdain for this place began when my friends and I ordered drinks. There were two bartenders; one a male and the other a female. We had our drinks and food options ready however, when it was time to order I could tell immediately that the male bartender was already not in a good mood. I asked for a Mai Tai and he stated that he couldnt make it as they did not have any rum. I said ok, so now I had to look to see what else they have which made him even more irritated. So I went with a house margarita and when asked if he had limes he stuck his nasty hands into the limes and threw one lime in my friends drink and then mines. I was handing him my card and asked Are you ok? Which then he responded nastily, Yeah, its just that we are busy! It was 9:30pm on a Saturday and the place wasnt even packed yet. The people there were so nice and patiently waiting and he was the one with the attitude. I snatched my card back and said, Thats ok. He proceeded to throw the drink down the drain angrily.I ordered with the waitress who was very polite. We got our food and all the drinks were watered down, the nacho chips were stale, and they did not give us napkins. We had to ask several times for napkins and the server gave us literally 1 napkin. My friends opted for a second drink and again it was watered down. The Blue Hawaiian my friend ordered had a nasty taste to it which I am not surprised because it was supposed to be made with rum. According to Angry Watson, they did not have any rum so how are you making these drinks without it??? Make it make sense! At $9-$13 a drink I would expect more from them. Needless to say I will not be returning to this place as the customer service was HORRIBLE. I hope management reads this and makes the necessary changes. Unfortunately, I did not get the disrespectful bartenders name, however if it helps it was the guy that worked the bar around 9:00-10:30pm on 4/3.
I took my son to enjoy live music. He did just that. He also loved the beach volleyball area and the playground. We only drank sprite and received free refills.
Great place with a great concept. The outdoor area is amazing and is kid and dog friendly! And its a fun place to do a group get together. Service is great and you have to try the duck fat fries! Only ding on the Railgarten is that parking is tough. Its more luck to get a spot than anything else. And it would be AMAZING if they opened up a small area in their employee parking lot for motorcycle parking!
Absolutely amazing food. The cooks are top notch. I would recommend to everyone I know
Love it. It is family friendly. They have several ping pong tables, volleyball sand court, movie screen, a stage for bands and 3 or 4 bar areas. We just had a great time.
Spent a lot of time waiting in line to order food on Friday night. Food came out pretty quickly after it was ordered, and it was delicious. I ordered the Railgarten Burger, and loved the seasoning on the fries. The place is not really first timer friendly, but I bet it is great with a group even on your first time. I went solo and it was my first time. Railgarten is not a small place and it seems to have different parts (dinner where desert is served, a bar and games areas, and then an outside area for events and live music). None of this was really explained to me when I came in, and I was not sure where I was allowed to go.Atmosphere is great. Music was modern, and people were enjoying themselves.
We have been coming here for years and always loved the atmosphere and people; however the last few times we have came the service has fallen off severely.Tonight might have concluded our long-time love of this place. First thing was my fault, I didnt realize that there was a band and there would be a cover charge even though we were inside for a going away party and never even heard the band. What I didnt understand was after paying said cover that we would have to wait literally 30 minutes in a line to order anything or to tab out. The bartenders took their sweet time in serving the most watered down drinks I have ever tasted. I am pretty sure it is illegal to water down bottles in the state of TN, but they didnt mind offering up shots of Jack that looked like weak tea.I truly hope management sees this and corrects the wrongs that are happening in what once was one of the best spots in the 901.
It was all fine. I wasnt in a great mood, so I dont want to unfairly judge them.
The open atmosphere was spectacular. The whole place is reminiscent of all my favorite backyard get-togethers packed into one. Its a garden party on steroids.Last night was my first visit and I can tell you that Ill have many more to come. Thank you Railgarten for showing myself and my ladies a damn good time!
We came from out of town and a friend recommend this place. It was a home run! Duck fat fries poutine was mind blowing! I we lived in Memphis, wed be there all the time. Amazing! Staff is super awesome!
Railgarten is a great family friendly venue for drinks and food. I cant comment of the food, but the place is awesome for about anything else. Inside theres a live band venue with a full service bar. Outside theres a large industrial inspired area... Much more than just a patio. Past the duece and a half back with the table, Theres an area through the brick wall for ping pong and corn hole. Theres many fire pits and tables around across the back edge of the yard lined by railroad containers for seating along with 3 bars. Theres a regulation volleyball court, more corn hole on the other side of the yard and a playground for the kids with another deuce and a half back for seating... Find a nice night and watch the game outside on the 20ft screen while having a child one watching the kids play. Awesome place!!!
Fresh food, but lots of fried selections. Food was very heavy. Would not consider this restaurant to be a good value, at all. Hot dog w fries is $10. Premises clean, fresh. Service good. This is a hipster place. Nothing more.
We needed to get out of downtown Memphis so we found this nice little diner with a hip-hop feel. It was very mellow. The Korean BBQ tacos were delicious. The pork tacos were just ok. The beer on tap was on point.
Just as the review before, be very cautious. They scam you out of money. The last 3 of 4 visits we have had to call and have total adjusted, as well as the others in our party. We were overcharged over $100+ each time. We were told by regulars to expect it, though, so it’s our fault anyway. Definitely not worth the hassle, but if you do, always double check your bank statements. They WILL take your money!! Try and pay cash
5 stars for the staff!!!In spite of being incredibly busy in a pandemic, and understaffed, everyone had a smile on their face and made sure everyone was having a good time. Carl is a beast on the grill and made me the best smoked sausage Ive had in a while.Ashley is a fabulous bartender who keeps on top of business. To the manager that told her she was a disappointment... Shame on you. The only disappointment I saw was when you stepped behind the bar to make a personal drink, ignoring the line she had, and refusing to help the customers that keep you in business.
The food was great. I had their burger and my daughter had the po boy. The building with the Railgarten name on it, is not the restaurant. That building has a bar but not the full menu. The restaurant ( the building to the left ) seemed to be a completely different place. There were initials on the door which led me to believe it was not Railgarten. It seemed like a nice place to hang with friends on the weekends. There were fire pits, a place to play volleyball and other games.
Had an awesome time here on a Friday night. They had several things events going, but nothing clashed and they were all entertaining for any crowd. The poker on Sundays is also great.
As much as we enjoy taking the kids here, it never fails that they mess up the tab and over charge us. We had about a $100 tab going Saturday night plus the tip. I closed out and all was well. Then this morning I see an additional separate charge of $75 come through the bank. Definitely not ours as we only had one tab going on a single card and I sure didn’t sign off on this when I closed my tab. I call and no answer so I sent an email. Hopefully they can figure this out but it doesn’t help the fact that this is the third time this has happened to us. We also know a handful of other friends that have the same experience. We bring in tons of business here as we come with 20-30 other people and have even throw events within their establishment. My husband is over it and we will be looking for another hang out spot if they can’t get it together soon.Edit in response to the owners response: a $75 preauthorization on a bank debit card for a $100 total tab is unheard of. The last time this happened with your establishment it was $100 extra and I had to fight for a refund. If you are seriously saying that it requested $75-$100 “preauthorization” to be taken out two days after our original visit in order to open a tab then that’s hard to believe. I have sent a photo from my bank account to your establishment showing the two charges. I advise all to just pay in cash.
Good food, good staff, slightly Bohemian style but ok for kids. Nice creative hangout area in back with picnic style tables and volleyball and ping-pong. Not so great parking, but worth the effort when you get to hanging out part.
Fun indoor/outdoor location. I went on one of the few cooler spring nights and sat outside. There are multiple bars so you dont have to crowd around the indoor bar to get service. Pickup volleyball, a stage for live music, lawn chairs and picknic tables. Inside theres games and TVs with a laid-back vibe. Social areas outside are made out of shipping containers, with TVs and projectors outside.
This place is a blast! Ping pong (inside and outside), giant jenga, music stages (inside and outside), playground and sandbox for kids, giant beer pong, large outdoor area with dozens of folding chairs, balcony. Nice beer selection too! Next store is a diner and ice cream shop by the same company.
Great mix of liveliness but also spaciousness, so it’s great during Covid. Food is typical bar food, but pretty good. Live music on weekends outdoors. You guys need to provide things like napkins, forks, condiments and hand sanitizer- had a lot of trouble finding any until I asked behind the bar. Prices are a tiny bit high relative to Memphis.
Our waitress couldnt handle her sections. Food took an hour to come out. Service was unfriendly and inconsistent. Dont be open if you cant still provide quality service. Popcorn shrimp were delicious though.
Love the new menu! Could management consider making a smoking section with tables so nonsmokers aren’t subjected to cigs? Also people with dogs, could have a gated pen area where their dogs can run around. I have been to a bar like that. That might help with their restlessness.
Great atmosphere both inside & outdoors with lots of kids & adult game activities. Very cool design with the rail container decor and great outdoor set up for live music. Food is great and local beer selection is solid. Love this place!!
Good food, Decent service. Confusing layout. Online menu is different than the physical menus.
This place is family friendly... if you want a place for enjoy yourself and for kids, its one of the palce for it... the kids park is very good, my kid enjoyed a lot. And we had a great time there. Food is also good...
Always a great time here. The main room is pretty big with ping pong tables and a bar with some high top picnic style tables when you first walk in but the real gem is out back. The compound is huge. Theres hammocks, an outdoor bar, a giant tire swing (which is occasionally out of service cause too many people hop on and break the chain), a volleyball court, a stage for shows, and more that I cant remember. Kid and pet friendly. When the weather is nice this place is extremely lively and parking can get challenging but have no fear because there is valet. Great times to be had here. Cant wait for warmer months.
Event moved inside due to weather. We called about seating because some of our party have disabilities and were told there are plenty of seats. We get here and there is no where to sit with a wide open floor with no chairs or tables. We ask about food and were told we had to have a table with a number so server knows where to take food. Apparently they dont understand about the Americans w Disability act.Yes we are still here standing infront of Merchandise table.
Had a terrible experience tonight. Friends and I came to watch football for the evening and planned to stay and have dinner and drink during the game. It was raining so of course over half their seating is wiped out. They didnt have any tables set up in the pong hall because they had scheduled a band to come play (even though it was obvious the majority of people were there to watch football). So, I walked to the diner to see if we could go over there. The place was totally empty, although all their large tables were reserved. My friends and I sat at a booth, everyone ordered food, we asked to have our football game turned on, and everything was okay. They get busy though and start trying to rush us out (asking every 5 minutes if we need anything else), even though theres a table of people literally passed out drunk asleep with four out of the six people with their heads on the table and one of the large tables that was reserved when we showed up at 5:30 still hasnt shown up over an hour later. We had planned to stay and order drinks and enjoy ourselves, but the wait staff was tremendously rude.
We were here for a school event and I must say that I was impressed with this place overall. I like the concept and it’s different from the other restaurants in Memphis. When I arrived it took me at least 10 minutes to find a parking spot but I ended up finding a parking spot across the street since that restaurant was closed. We were there in the middle of August and the weather was nice so we spent all of our time outside in the yard area. The kids started by playing ping pong outside and then they played volleyball for a while. It was nice. Plenty of seating in the yard area as well and there’s a place where you can order your drinks outside in the yard area too! The staff here did an awesome job as well. There were about 3 servers walking around the yard area to get your order for food if needed. We hung out for a while just socializing with our friends from the school and it was a nice pleasant atmosphere. The kids were ready to eat and we reviewed the Yard menu and didn’t see anything that our “big” kids wanted. We found a “Diner” menu and it had different food options and some stuff that our oldest wanted to try. We were told that we would have to leave the yard and go inside and place a carry out order with the Diner. So we all went to the Diner and placed our order. The cashier in the Diner told us that they would deliver our food to the yard if we had a table #. We got the table # and the food was delivered to our spot within a reasonable amount of time. I ordered something simple and got the Waffle chicken strips and fries. The food was ok but I definitely would not recommend the chicken strips. There are more options on the menu and I will try something else next time. The only change that I would recommend is to have the option to order from the “Diner” menu while hanging out in the yard. It was kind of awkward walking to the diner just to place our order and then returning to the yard. Later in the evening, the kids were able to enjoy a movie on the big screen which was nice. There was an inflatable slide for the younger kids to keep them busy also. Overall, this is a great place to hang out with friends and the service was great. I will be back at Railgarten in September for a company celebration and I’m looking forward to another good time.
This place was super cool. LOVE the mixture of different atmospheres all rolled into 1 location. Food was good, drinks were good, and there is a ton of stuff to do!
I enjoyed being there. Not sure about menu how Tasty but my Long Island was gooood . It is also nice to watch games while you listening live music . Good job
For Gods sake, please please turn the huge projector and TVs off when the band is playing. They were brighter than the stage and it really killed the feel of the room, especially when at one point there was coverage of the Supreme Court abortion case hearing plastered over the wall. Why on earth would you want that in the background of a show??
Ive been here multiple time and have a great experience every time I go. Must of the employees are friendly when I get one that isnt I go to a different bar and theyre usually nicer. Great for all ages becuase of its backyard feel
This place is pretty legit! Read the about on the menu. It’s like 2 acres of old rail yard stuff with hidden treasures throughout and cool old railways stuff. Great live music, great patio and great food.
I get that this place has a cool atmosphere but the drinks are way over priced. Who charges $5 for a PBR? Also there Panchos cheese dip is $6 if you want chips its an additional $5?!? The valet parking people will park your car and when you come to retrieve it they will tell you that it is over there and make you walk a block or 2 to get your car after youve tipped them. I dont get the hype...
