I have not been to The Stage Stop in many years. From what i am told it jas a new owner and it is trying to be brought back to life after many years out of the spot light. In tje 80s and 90s this was a very active lounge woth some great bands playing its stage. Hopefully it will be as big again one day.I went in to see a friends band play. There was a 5 dollar cover charge which is cheap in my opinion. The atmosphere was very upbeat. Our server was friendly easy on the eyes and checked back with us repeatedly throughout the night. The drinks were downright inexpensive compared to most of the bars I have been to lately. Plenty of tables and a very lo g bar for seating. Billiards and dart as well. The sound was clean and not so loud you heard bells ringing when you left. I had a great time as did my wife. Unfortunately I was driving so she had a bit more fun than I did.If you have never been try them out. They have local bands every Saturday night and headline bands a couple times a month. Check their page to see upcoming entertainment.
Its an old venue. Sound and stage is pretty good and has been the start of many bands here. If you can catch the right show its ideal if you like a comfortable place to sit to watch a band.
Went there for the ‘Blues Jam’ on a Thursday only to find that the place was completely empty. Three people sitting at the bar with 100+ empty tables. Maybe the Blues night was cancelled / isn’t on anymore? Not sure, but the Memphis Flyer said it was.Anyway they had a country/folk band from Nashville playing who were actually very good, felt bad for them playing to an empty room.
Nice people. Good times. If youre the type of person who drinks wine or thinks that Phil Collins isrock, you probably want to find another place to go. If you like rock and roll and a downhome felling, you know where to go.
Ms Nita Makris has, over the past 40 years as owner and operator and her dedicated, friendly and professional staff have provided Memphians along with local, touring, and legendary musicians with, what some consider a home away from home. A comfortable, equally reputable and respected venue to entertain and enjoy the many eclectic sounds that give Memphis music its much loved soulful and legendary history. Live music, spacious dance floor, high quality sound equipment operated by well trained and experienced personnel, billiard tournaments, darts, full bar, as well as popular sporting events shown on the big screen TV. The Stage Stop also has a full menu of appetizers and entrees. I go as often as possible to help support local music/musicians and my favorite local business woman along with the friendliest staff in town. 💜🎵🎸
My band Caging Elliott has played a few times there. And the guys at Stage Stop were kind and gracious enough to let us do a benefit for my daughter who passed away in August of this year and all proceeds went to her children. The staff is awesome and we will definitely be back. #zenasmom #forever28
Theyve been a music tradition in Memphis and the Raleigh area for 40+ years. All the best bands have played there at some point. A lot of them still do.
Stage Stop is the best. The atmosphere was great. The band Seeing Red is the bomb(also genuinely nice people) and love the dance floor.
Been coming here for years!!! Feel like I grew up in this homey place. Great staff good bands been owned and operated by everybodys Mom Nita Makes...
Went there Saturday night and was very displeased with the service. Waitress was practically invisible . Customers had to hunt her down to take their orders .Its sad how this once thriving establishment has turned into just another dirty watering hole.
It is a lot of fun .very intertaining .with all the difference bands coming in and playing .i really do like it .vomw on out and hear for yourself.u will have lots of fun.?Mark
Long time favorite for local musicians. Great sound, good food, reasonable prices. Makes you feel right at home.
Good food, nice people, and reasonable prices. Super talented musicians on open mic night. Love this place!
A rock N roll tradition, the Stage Stop is the place when youre rolling through Memphis and want to experience the music scene.
