Our family had the best time at BB King’s tonight. We had to pay a $10 cover per adult for the live music but it was totally worth it! Our girls danced in the middle of dinner and had a blast. Our food was brought to us within 15 minutes of ordering and was absolutely delicious. We will be coming back!
Vince Johnson was on stage with a couple of other guys and I did not catch their names but they were all amazing! Saw Vince a year ago and hes still got it! Tiffany our waitress was EVERYTHING! Flawless service. The food was to die for. Ribs, pulled pork, smoked sausage, catfish, coleslaw, hush puppies, double burger, fries, Mac n cheese, grilled cheese. All fabulous. The cook has soul and it reflects in every dish. I was floored at the good time I had and promise to return EVERY time I step foot in Memphis.
Rib!!! Get the ribs!!! I don’t care for ribs with sauce on them but these!! Not messy, just right, meat falling off the bones!!! The baked beans!!! Man it was great! We enjoyed the live music! There was a $10 per person cover for the music I didn’t expect but it wasn’t terrible. We didn’t get rushed out. 10//10 would recommend!
The $10 cover charge is worth the money. The venue is much nicer and better maintained than other venues on Beale Street. I saw a few children in the club enjoying the performance with their parents, which is a plus compared to other live performance clubs on the street. Note that I did not order food here, but I have seen other peoples orders, and they seemed legit.
Atmosphere-5 stars- This is a great place to go if you want good food and be entertained this is the place to go however if you want to have a conversation you may have a couple of seconds between songs. With that said we went there to be entertained so it was perfect for us.Service- 4 stars- Service is good but kinda slow especially with getting our drinks. Waiter was friendly.Food- 4 stars- I had the BBQ platter with a side of cole slaw and I upgraded a side to onion hush puppies which were really good.Biggest downside to this restaurant is the cover charge- it’s $10.00 a person so they are pushing the entertainment cost onto the customers. Might not be a big deal if you can stay for hours but when your meal is over I felt that they wanted you to leave to make room for the next guest.
What an absolutely brilliant night.I had been waiting for this day for decades, literally. You could have fed us bread and water and we’d have been happy. The BB King Allstars were the absolute best. Our server, I’ll never forgive myself for forgetting her name- was absolutely fabulous. The food, which we admittedly didn’t eat much of was excellent, the drinks were great the atmosphere was on point and the music. Oh my god, the music.I would come back every single day of the week if I could.
I decided to bring my wife to Memphis, TN, for Mothers Day weekend. While there, we visited the world famously known Beale Street, home and birth to the Blues. Out of a plethora of food places to eat at, we decided on the legendary B.B. Kings Blues Club. We were in luck as it just so happened that they had live bands playing all night while you ate, so that added to the atmosphere and dining experience. The music was good, and unfortunately, the ribs that I ordered were just ok. Dont get me wrong. The meat was mostly fall off the bone tender, but they were a little on the dry side for my liking. The cost of the meal was a little pricey compared to the portion size that you are served. The highlight of my actual meal was the gumbo that I ordered as an appetizer. The waitress had great customer service skills and displayed it to her fullest, and for that, I am most grateful.I would definitely visit and eat here again if the experience is the same as it was this time around.
If you like blues and BBQ BB Kings is the place to go. I love the live music here all the performers are excellent. The wait to get in was about 5 minutes. The hush puppies were decent. My ribs and mashed potatoes were to die for. The baked beans are decent as well. They also have burgers, po boys and more. The bathrooms were clean. And the prices were pretty high but totally worth it.
Highly recommend this joint!! This was our fourth time going to BB Kings and it still hasnt disappointed! We go because the food is always delicious and the live music is always fantastic. Personally, I think these are the best ribs Ive ever eaten at a restaurant. They start with a good dry rub doing the smoking process (and yes, you can taste the smoke). Then they finish the ribs right at the end with just a little bit of house-made sauce, enough to create another layer of carmelization on the dry rub bark, but not so much that the sauce overwhelms the flavor of the rub and meat. The result is a very well balanced rack of tender ribs! My wife got the catfish and shrimp for the first time. She said that catfish was the best she has had in a long time. This is an impressive statement because we live in the middle of catfish country near Pickwick Lake. My sister-in-law, who is visiting from the Charlotte, NC area, got the pulled pork platter and was thoroughly impressed. The two ladies also shared a Lucille, a coconut rum based mixed drink, and thought it was awesome! Finally, we got there at just the right time to hear not one, but two great bands! For the first half of the meal we heard The Misfits. The second half of the meal we heard The Diversity Band. Both were extremely talented. My wife and I even decided to go dance a little after we ate because we were enjoying ourselves so much. One thing to note: there is a separate cover charge at the door for the music. In the past 3 years weve been visiting, it has never been more than $10 per person. But this paid up front before you can go in and order food.
Even though I’m from Arkansas, only an hour’s drive from Memphis, this was my first time on Beal Street. The atmosphere was brisk, breathtaking, and everyone was friendly. It was the atmosphere of the French Quarter, just not jam packed. The club was full and amazing! They had two bands and they both were great. Please make this adventure a destination.
Bayyyybay if you like good food and a great atmosphere, step inside! I love that you can bring your kids and it’s no “must be 21”. He enjoyed the live music and the food was delish! We had the gumbo, catfish bites, wings and hush puppies. Everything was perfect accept the wings could have been cooked a little longer and more sauce added and the hush puppies were way overcooked. The dessert looked delicious but my kid wouldn’t share so I can’t rate it but I can safely assume it was delectable by the lack of sharing and empty plate at the end.Check em out when you’re in TN. Loved the strip of restaurants and bars. Beale Street gave me a mini Nawlins feel and that made me happy.
This was a very cool experience. They had live music which was great. I wish I knew the bands name to give them a shout out. The food was amazing. We had ribs and the chicken and waffles. Their bbq sauce was amazing and the chicken was freshly battered and fried not frozen. The waffles were the best I have ever had. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also had the banana pudding which was out of this world!
Greeted graciously at the door by Chris, polite, friendly and respectful. Love band was playing when we entered. Was seated and our waiter was not far behind. He got out drink orders and gave us time to decide what we were ordering. A non smoking atmosphere, love band w/a dance floor. Everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves. Our food came hot, and plentiful. Needless to say but everything was on point. I had the meatloaf plate, my daughter had the bbq pulled pork plate and my future son in law had dirty tacos. The weather was awesome, were there was a crawfish festival and mimosas fest going on also, which we didn’t attend
We visited on Wednesday August 14. We had an older guy as our server and he was excellent! I didnt have to want or wait for nothing. Very attentive! I dont know his name. Our food was really good and it matched the service we recieved! We caught the tail end of one band and that blues singing hit the spot! The reason for the 4/5 for atmosphere is due to that band Deversity. I think its ashame that they asked for $20 for song requests and we already paid $10 a piece to get in. They were unorganized didnt keep my attention. Never have I seen that!...I expect a band to just sing the blues, not beg.
My wife and I visited this place 3 years ago while renting a cabin for our anniversary and loved it. We came back last year, but they were doing renovations. This year, we came again to spend time with my sister, who will be facing Cancer for the 3rd time. In the shadow of a health crisis, my sister was able to set it aside thanks to the staff at BB Kings. Our server, Shanika (I think), was very professional, attentive, friendly, and took time to be encouraging to my sister during visits to our table. We requested a song for my sister, and the band leader told us from the stage he would see what he could do. Unfortunately, none of the songs in his set were appropriate. But he stopped by our table to say encouraging words to my sister for quite a while during his break from performing. It was a visit we will never forget.
Great atmosphere. Live bands and the music was great. The bbq ribs and slaw were perfect. There is a cover charge of $10 to enter, which is to cover the live music. Their menu prices average about $20, but I would say that for me, the overall experience was worth it. After all, its B.B. Kings blues club.
Service and food were really good. We ate here as a family one evening with 2 teenage boys and it wasnt bad. They give you a lot of food! Its conveniently located near the hotel where we stayed. I was happy they warned us about the cover charger at the door after a certain time. We just made it in time with no cover.
I came here with friends to get some Memphis memories. The food was so so delicious and our server, Joe, was absolutely amazing! The perfect amount of checking on us - not too little or too much. He even ran out and brought my card when I left it there (which would have been very, very bad). If Im ever in Memphis again, we will definitely be back! The band that was playing was also amazing and the energy was electrifying!
What a great place to listen to a really good blues band, eat dinner and have drinks. Reasonably priced food and drinks. $10 per person cover charge to get in. About a 20 minute wait in line to enter. Another 5 minutes to get a table. Well worth the wait. Superb band that plays from 8-12. We split a plate for dinner and we were stuffed. Beers range from$5.50 to $8 cocktails$11 - 14. Average plates about 18.
More like a 4.5. Had the ribs and chicken combo. Ribs were great, fall off the bone tender and very flavorful. Chicken had great flavor as well but the skin was not crispy and both meat items werent that hot. The sides were good but not great. Vince Johnson and his band were awesome. Great place for a quick meal, great music and ambience.
We came in with a cover charge to see the BB king band. They were outstanding. We werent really hungry and I was a little tipsy already from the drinks we got down the street so I couldnt drink any more.. we bought fries which the waitress didnt even want to charge us for so we tipped her. What a nice lady. This was our last stop for the night. I would highly recommend stopping by there to see this band.
Good food, great staff, entertainment did not disappoint. Sometimes you worry that a popular spot in a popular place is just a tourist trap. But there were many locals in the audience, and we got exactly what we came for - some good music and good eats. BBQ was quite good, shrimp and grits had just ending spice, bbq tater tots were surprisingly good, the hush puppies were perfect, and the sweet tea reminded me in the best possible way of visiting Alabama s as a child. Even ran into BB’s granddaughter stopping by for a visit.
We were staying at Memphis on our way back home and visited this place. My wife and I had a lot of fun listening to the music and eating here. And Paul was absolutely fantastic. We got some sausage and wings with fries for appetizer and it was great. The sausage was just unlike any sausage I have had before, so Id suggest getting that if you can. Its not on the menu, but you can just ask for an order. The wings were amazing too, although we liked the buffalo a bit better than the dry rub. And then the main course, the ribs, were amazing, and so were the sides. The bands that played were great as well and really added to our enjoyment of the food.If you want to have fun and have nice food and drinks, definitely check this place out. The $10 cover is worth it.
**B.B. Kings Blues Club, Memphis - A Stellar Experience of Music, Food, and Drinks**My visit to B.B. Kings Blues Club in Memphis was an outstanding experience that perfectly captured the essence of this vibrant city. We had great seats overlooking the stage, which provided an excellent view of the live performances that are the heart and soul of this iconic venue. The drinks at B.B. Kings were expertly crafted, offering a perfect complement to the lively atmosphere. The food was equally impressive, featuring a menu that showcases delicious Southern cuisine. Every dish we tried was flavorful and satisfying, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. The highlight, of course, was the music. The live blues performances were phenomenal, showcasing incredible talent and creating an electrifying ambiance that kept us engaged throughout the night. The energy of the musicians and the crowd combined to make it an unforgettable experience. In summary, B.B. Kings Blues Club is a must-visit destination in Memphis. With great seats overlooking the stage, superb drinks, and delicious food, it offers a fantastic setting to enjoy some of the best live music the city has to offer. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and soulful sounds of Memphis.
Food was pretty good, but rather small portions for the price, but we didnt go here for the food, we went for the music and vibe, and it was amazing! Great bands playing each time Ive been, people up dancing or singing along at their tables, and just all around positivity and happiness! Love this place!
Went to vibe by myself. First time here. It was a great experience. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the catfish and shrimp. It came out piping hot and fresh. I don’t eat catfish for the most part. This was the best I’ve ever eaten. I took a chance on ordering it because I had a taste for fish. I was completely satisfied! Also, the staff were very friendly, polite, attentive and professional. The entertainment was off the chain! Live Blues! I vibed out for about 3 hours. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend this establishment!
3 of us stopped in for an early dinner on a Thursday night. Place was about 70% full. We paid the $10 per person cover and was seated upstairs. Small menu of basics, decent drink selection. A little loud, but expected. My ribs had a char on bottom, tender and ok flavor. Just didnt like burnt part. The chicken fried steak and burger was good. We liked the entertainment, solid blues.
We went on a Friday night, around 6. Not crowded, so we got or party of 3 seated quickly. Our server Tiffany was quick to take our drink & appetizer order. The tots and cocktails came out quickly. The band was terrific and Tiffany was attentive to our needs. Our order of chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, & pulled pork plate came out timely & hot. Everything was delicious and plentiful. The drinks flowed smoothly, the band rocked, and a good time was had by all!!
Service was the best out of everywhere we went. The live music was wonderful to listen to. Make sure you get there before 8 because there is a cover charge. All the food was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We were happy and full. Also if you have food allergies you can be confident ordering here. They do take care to use separate fryers and use all means to prevent cross contamination. Cook even came out to say hi and assist with our huge order
We were here for a family reunion lunch. As the event planner, from setting this up to the actual date, Kathrine Corvelli, the National Sales Director was excellent. She was quick to respond to what probably seemed like endless questions and changes. The food, of course, was delicious and the service, (sorry I cant recall our servers name), was great! We had a lot of requests and they were handled promptly and professionally. The bartender was also polite and helpful with keeping me updated on the expense. The music was a highlight! I absolutely recommend a visit here!
The staff are the best Ive ever seen. Non stop extraordinary service from back of the hosue to frontHusband (man if few words) Ive never had a ribs like this in my lifeOMG no joke the Mac & cheese & ribs are the best thing Ive ever eatenBtw I dont eat ribs but yes please couldnt get enoughI am so jealous of Frank who has seen so many amazing artists over his 30 year part time gig hereTat the door man is the friendliest guy - who I cannot believe out of all the people he sees every day remembers you the next day even when you look completely different.I am already planning next trip with family & this will be my only place for food & music
We stopped in for a late lunch and some blues. The place was packed and they had a cover charge for music. The two bands we listened to were local regulars at BB King. The music was okay. The food was typical bar food and the servers were attentive. While we enjoyed this place, there are many like it, so this is not necessarily a unique must visit place.
I am really here to post about the atmosphere alone. Was visiting Memphis recently and decided to go to this gem of a place! I had already eaten so I just ordered drinks. The place was packed and busy but our waiter was consistently moving around and always available. If you go for anything….make sure the B.B. King All-Star Band is performing live….they are AMAZING!! Had a blast!
Our family went here for lunch and there was no musician on stage which was nice since we could actually have a conversation. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive to our table. The food was a bit of a letdown. The ribs had decent favor but had little meat and were cooked too long. The pulled pork was average and can be found at any BBQ restaurant. The burger was okay but again didnt offer anything better than what weve had before. I guess our expectation was too high knowing the great history of the place. I would not recommend someone going here solely for the food, but I would if there was a performer on stage.
Oh my gosh, the food was fantastic. I got the shrimp and grits and it was everything I hoped for and more. I think I literally moaned. So delicious. My family ordered the ribs and chicken, and also said it was good (I tried the ribs. Yum!). The drinks are good, too! Yes, there is a $10 fee for each person at the door — for the live music! It’s worth it. The musician came over and introduced himself to us. Maybe touristy, but definitely delicious. ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION THE FRIED PICKLES. I was put on this earth to eat pickles in all its forms. YUM!
The food exceeded all expectations. The fried pickles were so delicious. The pulled pork dinner was one of the best we had! Ribs were tasty and delicious. The entertainment was excellent! The voices and band of the performers were exceptional and created a fun atmosphere. The music filled our soul and we danced quite a bit! Our server SHANDA was truly the best! She topped off the experience with her personality and hospitable attitude! She brought the whole experience together!
Had a lovely dinner in here. Service was amazing. Staff really friendly.Cocktails really nice.Yes its 10 dollars in each but cocktails are cheaper and very good atmosphere.I just wish they had music/CD/dj between sets and breaks. Once band stops, there is an awful silence and it is really strange.Place was great and staff amazing.
$10 cover charge to get in was well worth the price of admission. The 2 bands I heard both sounded great. They all played well with each other and had a high level of talent. It’s a neat, intimate place despite being probably the number 1 tourist destination on Beale st. I visited early in the afternoon and was able to sit at the bar with a clear view of the band on stage.Favorite song was a nice 10 minute rendition of Hendrix’s “all along the watchtower” nice solos and jam sessions throughout. The first band finished and 25 minutes later the next was playing. Both were equally good and each had their own style.Service was good.I opted for the $28 bbq chicken and rib combo. The guy at the bar next to me had the same and recommended an extra side of bbq sauce for the chicken. The ribs were a 3/5 perfectly acceptable but not mind blowing. It was a big portion. The chicken was surprisingly the star of the show. Probably the best chicken I’ve had in recent memory. 5/5The sides were just ok. 3/5 there is a little bit of pork in the beans and the coleslaw was pretty bland by Tennessee standards.I would return again, but probably opt for a sandwich and just focus on the music next time.It was a blast, and the food was good enough.Go if you have any appreciation for excellent live music. The gift shop has reasonably priced souvenirs. Much like the rest of Beale street
Good eats & great music for a quick getaway!Waitress suggested the meatloaf dinner, nothing Ive ever ordered, so I decided to try something new! It was quite tasty, wrapped in bacon & ketchup bbq sauce topping with fried onion petals.Side of mashed pots wouldve been so much better if they werent from the box & sautéed veggies were great, zucchini, onions, red pepper mix!Next time Im getting what I went for, those ribs! Also tried a few of the loaded tots foe an appetizer, very tasty!I recommend getting a table if you go, youll get faster service.Music was fantastic and the 1st singer, she has amazing energy and love!Overall, great 1st trip!
There was a ten dollar cover charge, but it allows you back in all day, so we plan on returning in the evening for more drinks/music.The ribs were amazing, so was the Mac and cheese, the drinks are good, but a bit overpriced for the 2oz max of alcohol that was in them. The dark beer they have on tap is good too .I gave the service 4 stars because we waited for a long time for our food. Meanwhile other people that arrived after us got theirs. They blamed it on running out of paper in a printer. However, while we were waiting for 40min and I ran out of beer, they never came to check. I think we were forgotten. The band they had was pretty good and we enjoyed the music.
Sept 10, 2023 - Memphis, TN Beale St.I wish I had read the lowest reviews first and saw that they were very recent reviews, too, and had a plan B. First, we, too, were charged $10/pp cover for music. The music was good, and we really wanted to try some good Memphis BBQ. I know this is a tourist area, and there are other great BBQ areas all around. I didnt care to pay the cover, but we were already there.Food: The ribs and chicken were 2 out of 5. They were a bit dry. Not terrible enough to return the food back to the kitchen. I am not that picky. But it could have gone back. The server, sides and appetizer (fish bites) were great, though!
Every bite was amazing. I had almost given up on BBQ in the region and thankfully I gave it one more shot. Ribs fall off the bone perfection. Mac n cheese out of this world. Chicken fried chicken and veggies, banana bread pudding oh my. The best food Ive had in Memphis. Music and vibe on point. Service could have been better but the rest was so great who cares.
I visited BB Kings last night 6/8/24 and I am extremely happy! There was a $10 cover to enter then we were seated quickly. Surprising for a Saturday night around 7pm.Daisy was our server and she was phenomenal. She was friendly, communicative, and just a joy. The food and drinks came quickly and it were fresh. I ordered the fish and shrimp platter and had a hurricane to drink. Soooooo good! The drinks aren’t strong but they are tasty. The performers were out of this world good. I mean the talent!!!! I can’t wait to visit this BB Kings again. Makes me wish I visited the one in Nashville more when it was open.
Everything about this place surpassed my expectations. I thought it was gonna be mediocre food. Just another kitschy big name restaurant. Hell I was wrong the food was amazing! I had the pulled pork and my daughter had the chicken everything was a punch of flavor. We shared the strawberry shortcake. Delicious!! It was not cool to charge $10 a person to go in for dinner that should of been removed if you bought dinner. Plus the asking for tips for the band. We tipped the band cause they were great. So $30 to get in $80 for dinner, plus waitstaff tip $25, then $20 tip to band. Thats a lot for 3 $155.
Great place for some live music and a fun crowd. Got in around 6pm, left at 10pm and saw two bands in that time. $10/pp cover charge. We also ended up having dinner - Chicken Fried Chicken with Mac/Cheese and vegetables. Chicken and Mac were rich and salty (delicious). I don’t know what they do to the vegetables but please stop. They were in a bowl literally swimming in oil (or something) - inedible. Service was good. Overall a solid experience and would recommend checking it out.
1000 compliments to the performers and staff. This was the highlight of my trip to Memphis. The music and ambiance were perfect. Mr. Ashton Riker and the Memphis Royals performed. Regarding food, the white chocolate banana bread pudding was delicious. I had never had it before and it was like a crunchy cloud in my mouth. Delectable and fun. The bartender was too busy so service was slow, but I had a great time.
Atmosphere is electric. Beer and liquor flow like a silk river here. The musical talent is second to none with The Memphis Royals absolutely killing it!Ron provided impeccable service, always on point and a step ahead of our wants.Catfish bites were perfectly cooked, delectable little bites of moist fish with a crunch corn meal exterior. The tarter and Come Back sauce just push it over the top.Heard others comment that the meatloaf and ribs are both great.Great views of the band from almost any seat due to back seats being high tops.Bring tip money, always someone around to help you out. Men’s room attendant makes sure you don’t have to even turn the water on at the sink our get your own soap. Hand towel draped across your shoulder for convenience. Guy is the bomb!6/9 update: meatloaf is amazing. Grilled on both sides to give a little crust, bacon wrapped edges. Vegetables are delicious.Asked Ron what desert I wanted and he said “Strawberry Shortcake,” and he was right. Best I’ve ever had.
Great atmosphere with live music and two levels. The food was good, especially the Comeback sauce, but the service was very slow for a mid afternoon Monday when a lot of Beale Street was closed. Waited about 30 minutes before a waiter came over. Ordered two different beers but we both got the same beer.
How could you go to Beale Street and not go enjoy some music at BB Kings? The atmosphere is truly amazing with the live music and how the place is set up.For a bar, this place had some really good food with the nachos being really good. The drinks were top notch as well.Slightly pricey, but expected for the touristy style place but worth it and worth it for the music alone.
Great place for live music... And the food was great too! Food was typical southern cuisine and BBQ. Music was very good. Only compliant would be that the music is very loud which makes it difficult to order and have conversations. So if you want to chat over dinner you may want to eat somewhere else and come back for drinks and music.
The music ... it is all about the music. We paid $10 apiece to get in (ugh!) then listened as the bands constantly asked for tips and more tips. My wife and I always tip well so the encouragement from the microphone is not needed or appreciated. If you love to perform, then perform and money will follow. Shrimp po-boy was .. uh .. average. Wait staff was excellent.
Food was blah. Mac and cheese soupy, mixed vegetables swimming in old cooking oil. The tolerable item was the husppies for me. These are just my experiences. Others may find the food much better.
We stopped on a Saturday for lunch and were seated immediately. The band was just setting up when we got there. Note, there is a $10 per person cover charge to get in the door. Our waiter Jeff was fantastic and took great care of us. I order the pig platter which was awesome and my wife had a burger with tater tots.We decided to stay for awhile to listen to the band. It was a great experience and I would recommend this to anyone.
What a place! Visited from NC to celebrate a birthday on a Sunday evening. It was surprisingly busy for a Sunday. We ordered the blackened chicken carbonara and the bbq platter, and finished up with the bread pudding. All of it was fantastic, a real taste of memphis. Our server was very patient and carried on pleasant conversation with out party, answering questions about the food and city as well. It was a very pleasurable visit, highly reccommended
It was an extremely busy place but the somehow managed to keep track of groups and get them seated. The server gave of time with the menu, took our order and the food came in a very reasonable time. We arrived at about 7pm and were able to see the last set from one band and the first set of another. They were both really good. I had a great time.
Memphis Jones, the live band, was great. The food was yummy and the drinks were tasty. We were there around 5:00 on a Monday afternoon in March, no wait to get in. Two of us were going to get the ribs but they were out so we went with Chicken and Waffle and Meatloaf. The 14-year olds had wings and the Fried Platter. The chicken and waffle was really good. Meatloaf was tasty. The wings were meaty and perfectly cooked. The catfish was really good - coming from a 14-year who says she doesn’t like fish. When you go early enough it is a great spot to include the teens in live music and a bit of music history.
The ambiance was great. Our orders came out right and the customer service was good. I got the chicken with zucchini and macaroni n cheese. The macaroni needed more flavor, kinda bland. Definitely expected more. Everything else was good. The mash potatoes were delicious. Live music definitely added to the experience.
Enjoyed a live blues band. They were excellent (Divercity Band). The service was awesome, the atmosphere was true blues and soul. Never had bbq ribs so good in my life. Fell right off the bone, tender and absolutely delicious. My teenager was along and we visited around 5pm. We felt safe other than some panhandlers approaching us a couple blocks down Beale early on. We left before sunset. Visited on a Thursday evening.
They need to be handicap accessible. Wheres the ramps?? I made a reservation for my birthday and they tried to seat us upstairs. I told the server that someone in my party was in a wheelchair. We got seated downstairs but there were still two steps to climb. Some total strangers that were patrons immediately came to our rescue and picked my roommate up out of the wheelchair and carried him up those two steps and helped him to the table. I cant believe there wasnt any other options. The fact that no one working there that day seemed to care about our situation speaks volumes. Not one employee offered to help and it wasnt busy we were there around 3:30 before the dinner rush. Very disappointing
Bottled domestic beer is nearly $6……..Atmosphere is to be expected.Service is ok.The gentlemen cleaning tables and taking dirty dishes works very hard with a smile on his face.Live music was great.Ribs leave much to be desired. For $3/ bone, I expect much better.Pulled pork was average.Shrimp and grits and sausage/cheese platter were very good.
Food was fantastic and the live music even better! Staff was friendly and timely when the joint was slow, but fell behind when it filled up - my table quickly got to the point of ordering double drinks because we knew it’d be awhile before the server got back to us. Not their fault - looked like they had an overly large section to take care of. Not the sort of thing that would deter us from coming back regardless - the food and music made up for it in spades!Note that there is a cover charge (think it was
Music was amazing! I was taken back by the $10 cover at the door and that the band played about a 4 song set and then used 15 minutes to pass the bucket for tips and to peddle a guitar Pic, band photo and cd for certain donation amounts. When did they start letting street buskers play there? We watched 2 sets and they did this after each set. Killed the vibe completely for me. And now you have to exit the restaurant through the gift shop. Its simply turned into a tourist trap. Food was great...
Located on the corner of Beal Street we were surrounded by other tantalizing restaurants. We decided on B.B. Kings and wasnt disappointed. The ribs were falling off the bone and was very tasty. The pull pork nachos were simply delicious. The portions were huge too. We went for lunch but most definitely will come again at night to enjoy the live music!
This is a must go place when in Memphis! Our server, Ron, had plenty of people to help and we felt very well tended to. Thanks so much Ron for your awesome service! The live music was phenomenal, the food was amazing, and the service was out of this world. :) I ordered the Love on the Delta specialty drink and that was fantastic! We recommend the catfish po boy and the pulled pork sandwich. The fries are a great side too!
Food was good. The pulled pork is a very generous size for the price. Drinks are good but it took a long time to get them, ours arrived way after the food. $10 cover charge for on early dinner on a Monday seems a bit high but at least they didn’t charge for kids. We liked the band but it was a lot of sing along music and I didn’t come for karaoke. It was busy but wished the server was more attentive like we had to ask multiple times for silverware. The menu has gluten free on it but the server refused to confirm allergies. The tables are very close together and there are a lot of mini steps and uneven floors plus it is dimly lit so accessibility is not great
This is my 2nd time to go to B.B. King’s last time the food was amazing. This time the fried food and Mac n cheese was loaded with salt. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, which was extremely small as you see in the pictures. The entertainment was amazing!!! I love the band they have on Monday night’s. They sing great, tell stories, interact with the audience and are all around a lot of fun to watch!
The music was absolutely phenomenal. I had the ribs, fries, and beans. The meal came with cole slaw but they were out. The first set of ribs had a good flavor but they were super dry. They replaced it with a full rack of baby back ribs that honestly werent good. But, the baked beans were great and the fries were fresh. Ive had food here before and Ive never had an issue until that night. It was the end of the night, so maybe thats what it was.
I know its a tourist trap kinda place but it was fantastic. Our waitress was incredibly nice and engaging and enjoyable. The beers were good. The food was meh (what I expected) ribs were dry and sides were ok. The group playing was the best we found on Beale. The lady singing was absolutely killing it. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.
An amazing place to visit. The atmosphere was amazing. Enjoyed every minute of my time I was only planning on staying a hour and 3 hours later I was ordering food. Which came quickly and was really good quality and plenty of it.Although our waitress was really good. In every aspect. The down side is she had to many tables and the distance from us to the bar / kitchen was quite a distance so she was pushed to keep everyone happy. But did an amazing jobOnly down side is the $10 per head entrance fee is a little stepYes i would go again yes I would recommend going
This place displayed the atmosphere that is what Beale street is historically known for. The staff were very warm, friendly, & welcoming. The food was excellent and the establishment very well decorated as well as clean throughout - including bathroom facilities.
Awesome! Live music was amazing! The fried pickles were fantastic with plenty of thick, delicious ranch dressing. I had a catfish poboy. My hubby had ribs. Both entrees were delicious. I was initially served the wrong entree, and it took a bit longer than it should to get the correct one. The server had a needy and rambuntious table of twenty seated next to us, so she deserves some grace. Atmosphere was really cool. I had a peach melody drink, and it was so good if the alcohol content were higher I would be in trouble. Well done, B.B. Kings! Dont miss this one, yall!
My server was friendly and did a great job. The mixed drinks (especially the Strong Island Iced Tea) sucked. Could be the bar tender that night sucks, only been once so far.We started with the Loaded Pork Tots which were actually pretty darn good. Definitely recommend, but have at least 3 people helping out if you also plan on eating a meal.Entree: I got 8 Ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, and it comes with a dinner roll.-The ribs were delicious, fall off the bone, and lots of meat! A good dry rub on them and just enough sauce to note over-do it.-The baked beans were also very good, just traditional.-The coleslaw wasnt half bad. I enjoyed it.-Dinner roll was a dinner roll. Not much to say.My wife got Mac and Cheese and something else. Cant remember.-the Mac and cheese wasnt great. Bland and very salty she said.NOW! The entertainment, phew! Phenomenal! You pay $10/person for entertainment (someone mentioned getting there before 8 but it doesnt matter I was there at 5pm. If they have someone about to play they charge) and if you got time to stay a while, its worth every cent!-The first group were a nice old-timey Blues group who sang some classics and a beautiful rendition to Simple Man as well.-The second group Diversities (wouldnt let me upload any of my videos) is the name. They were beyond amazing! Great entertainment, they were allowing you to request any song you wanted and requested a small tip along with the request. They had people out of their seats dancing, they were interacting with the entire crowd, it was wonderful. What was best was that the staff or at least my server did NOT rush me out at all! We ate our food and then stayed for ours just sipping beer and enjoying.Definitely go check it out. I recommend the top floor overlooking the stage!
BB Kings is now my favorite restaurant in the universe. The Shrimp & Grits are the best I’ve ever had, better than my own recipe, which before now I thought were perfection. The live music is phenomenal. Reasonable prices, super friendly staff.
The service was great. The establishment was very clean including the womens restroom. The food was very good for the most part. The mac and cheese was very bland but not everyone can have seasonings. The seasoned veggies were awesome, the chicken fried chicken and the ribs was superb. The shrimp street tacos were seasoned awesome and had this kinda spicy sauce on them that was really good. The live band playing that evening was really good as well.
We were going to eat across the street but the line was long. So my son suggested B.B.Kings cause we was HUNGRY! It was about 4 o clock and there was a $10 cover to get in to pay for the live entertainment. My son was free. Thank Goodness. So we waited a few minutes to be seated. The place was busy. I ordered a rib plate that came with baked beans and coleslaw. I also. Ordered a side of Texas toast and French fries. My son got chicken tenders and fries. It took them an hour to bring us that. Then my ribs were cold. And no sauce was on them. Seemed odd but I sent them back because of the temperature. The next plate they brought out ribs had sauce and were warmer...weird. the Texas toast was just regular thin sandwich bread and it wasnt warm either. But I was so hungry. I ate everything except for my pepper..lol. the band was entertaining and when we left the line to get in was longer than the first one we didnt want to wait in. Guess it gets that way the later it gets.
We spent the day in Memphis and saw all the sights. Come dinner time, Beale Street was calling out to us. If youre looking for some mouth-watering, make-you-call-your-mama deliciousness kind of food, come to BB King Blues Club in Memphis. The BBQ pulled pork tator-tots plate was gone in seconds. The full slab of BBs Famous Ribs were fall-off-the-bone succulent, alongside the baked beans and slaw. The ribs were good even good naked! There was no hush about the hush puppies because we were going on about the crisp on the outside and the flavor and softness on the inside. If you want a good stiff, well-made drink, order yourself a Strong Island Iced Tea. That bartender knows his stuff!! The BB Kings Blues Club All-Star Band was exactly what the doctor ordered for an evening out with friends. Whether you wanted to sit back to listen or to shake your tail feathers, they are some talented individuals on stage giving me ear-gasms, pulling me back to earlier times. People were getting up and heading to the dance floor. Lastly, the service is amazing, friendly and efficient. Cover is $10. There are tables/seating on the lower floor surrounding the stage. There is also upstairs seating as well. Or, you can sit yourself at the bar. Every seat is a great seat in the house! So, come on down. I dare you to treat yourself to a spectacular night!!!
What an awesome place. We stumbled in when we got to town and had the kids with us. What a great experience and great meal for our first and then last night in Memphis. The music is also always great!
This was a very iconic place that I been wanting to go to for a while. I was on my way home from New Orleans and decided to swing by and check them out. The vibe was really nice in here and we talked to the people around us. They didn’t wanna serve us food at first for some reason saying the kitchen was closed even though people around us were getting served but they “changed their mind” I guess. But the food was ordered off the late night menu so options were limited. I got the ribs and the loaded bbq tots. They were pretty decent but the ribs were kinda cold. I was trying to stay positive about it still thinking about the waitress who didn’t want to serve us because she was tired I guess. But the music made up for it!!! Would recommend but still the way they handled our service was not professional and kinda rubbed me the wrong way. But this should be a 4-5 star location.
So many things to say about this place, but Ill start off by saying, what a great dining experience (s) we had. We ate lunch there and went back for dinner. The food was excellent, the mixed drinks were light and very tasty, and the bands were top notch entertainment. The $10 enter fee threw me off at 1st, but after returning later that night I truly understood why. Please put this place on your itinerary!! It will not disappoint....
The food was so good 👌. I got the pulled pork sandwich, WOW. This place has it figured out for sure. Not to mention their sweet tea, which was the best sweet tea that I have ever drank. I think I got 3-5 refills and drank every single one. Their fries are also very good. The waiter was very friendly, helpful, and quick. This place is definitely worth a stop. 11/10
Loved this place. Food was great. Loved the live band and music. Our waitress went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
I visited the place on Saturday night. It was my birthday and we wanted to celebrate it with good food, drinks and music. This is undoubtedly the iconic place on the famous Beale street. We had to wait ib a long line ( 30 mins maybe), to get a table. As you go inside, it’s different. The live band was performing blues on the stage. The band was terrific. The environment inside is cool and pretty laid back. Nobody will rush, even if there are people standing outside. I took a Long Island iced tea, and it was decent. The food was even better. I ordered the shrimp and husband ordered a dish with a catfish and both the dishes were pretty good, be it the quality, or the taste, or the portion size, we loved it. It was completely packed with a lot of people waiting outside, whereas mind blowing music is happening inside.Update: visited again a little late in night. There was no wait time, and the menu was limited. We took some catfish bites as appetizer which was terrific. In the entree, The ribs were the best, however the shrimp po boy was not that good. The fries served with the poboy sandwich was cold and bad.Edit and update: I went back again. This time the shrimp and grits was even better. And the fries were hot, perfectly seasoned, and was very tasty.
If youre in Memphis, then you have to come here. There is usually a long line waiting to get in and a $10 per person cover charge whether you are eating or drinking. The line took about 20 minutes to get it. The ribs were great, the pulled pork was average. Service was great and the live music was good, not the best we heard in Memphis. There was a table of women with kids that were running around and bumping into tables. The women ignored their brats and the management did nothing about it despite customer complaints from all the adjacent tables. Bad management will make or break an establishment.
This is a fun and exciting place. Was supposed to pay a $10 cover charge , but Ted, bouncer, let us in no charge with our promise to buy a T Shirt from him. We did. The BB KINGS BAND was Fantastic+ , played Etta James. Arritha Franklin, and more Jazz, Blues. My daughter and I danced and it was great! Dinner was served at our table by the band. Delicious and Big portions . THIS place is at top of hisrorical BEALLE STREET IN Memphis TN. Must visit!! Parking wasnt great. We parked on the street, walked about 1/4 mile .Pretty rough area after dark, didnt feel very safe. We would pay for parking next visit.
I was very disappointed, with this particular establishment and its very unfortunate, because I had only heard great things and had extremely high hopes. First of all, they didnt seem that full, but there was a 40-minute wait, and they seem to be struggling with the establishment a little over half full. Once I was seated, The waiter didnt bring any charisma or attentiveness, to my questions about the establishment or the food itself. The blue margarita, was extremely disappointing, and furthermore I ordered a barbecue pulled pork sandwich, which ironically I had just ordered earlier for lunch, from the hard Rock Cafe just adjacent to this establishment. The meat wasnt tender, nor succulent, and the sandwich was very dry, and the waiter nor the establishment did anything to try and alleviate these concerns. The only amazing thing, that I was privy to, was the live entertainment. This was the best part of the evening, and unfortunately, The bad service and bad food and bad beverages, really disappointed me, I really wanted to make an amazing review about this place, with all the history and how amazing Beale Street is overall here in Memphis, but unfortunately I have to tell the truth and be honest I do not recommend this establishment to anyone who is traveling or even who lives in this area.
BB kings cant be beat.Get there before 7:30 and you can save the $5 charge to get on Beille street. If youre going to eat at only one place in Memphis, go here.I would recommend to getting the catfish plate and the ribs and then splitting them. The vegetables world. Some of the best of both we have ever tried. And then if you drink definitely order the love on the Delta.
Really disappointed with the service and food although recommend. Charged 10 dollars to get in as live music was playing. Food came out and some of order missing , no sauces ect offered with meal . The best was the band as they where excellent but wouldnt return for the food unfortunately.
This might be a tourist trap but damn if it isnt my kind of trap. The ribs are exceptional. The music is outstanding. The service... well, the food got there.oh, and the drinks suck. But whatever - ribs and blues and atmosphere are hard to beat.
If you want live music while you eat some excellent bbq, this is the place. If you want a quiet place to chat while you eat- dont go here!Service was spotty (we waited at least 10 min to be greeted by a server. She was apologetic, but I noticed 2 other servers staring at us, walking by us, and then finally notifying a girl that was just standing around in the back that we were her table. They could have at least gotten our drink order instead of making us wait while they figured out who was responsible for us). I was impressed at the servers ability to understand us with the crazy loud music playing. We had been seated for 30 min before finally getting our drinks. Water in the meantime would have been a welcome treat. The ribs were super good. Literally fell off the bone. The specialty margarita was definitely not worth the $9. Crazy sweet and not well balanced. I ordered a bloody mary and it was tasty (I had 2). I really wanted the Shrimp and grits to be better. The shrimp and gravy were good, but the sausage had weird hard lumps we had to spit out and the grits were lumpy (old?). I probably wouldnt order those again. The fresh steamed veggies were a generous portion and perfectly cooked and seasoned. As for the music, the cover band that was playing when we walked in was really good. Very talented and entertaining. The only down-side was the lead singer was shamelessly asking for tips. Almost to the point of it becoming uncomfortable. Practically insistent. It went from fine, to funny, to downright awkward. We could have heard at least 2 more songs in the time he spent soliciting tips for his band. Just weird.
The place had an awesome atmosphere and truly great live music. In the end I think it was worth it, but I do want to warn everyone that there is a $10 PER PERSON “entertainment fee” just to get inside, so that is in addition to all food, drinks, and tips. If you keep your receipt you can come and go all day without paying another entertainment fee. Never seen this type of fee outside of New Orleans where they do it for certain famous acts, so still surprised by this for normal live music, but again I feel in the end the experience was worth it. Most tables seem to have a good view of the stage, sitting on the edge upstairs was where we were, and we really liked that view. The food was really good, I was shocked, better than most places you would consider to have good food. Also one last thing, the bathrooms were nice and clean.
Cool place, a lot smaller than I expected so it fills up pretty quick. We ended up skipping the Saturday night line and went Sunday afternoon for lunch. Theres a $10 per person cover, but theres live music all day and its good music so its worth paying to get in. The food is definitely overpriced and really isnt that great, better than other places on Beale street but not worth the cost. The service was good too, super friendly wait staff and fast service.
Very interesting experience. Good blues band performing. Dont miss walking down Beale Street and enjoying the atmosphere and establishments.
Food was horrible. How can anyone call this good food. I ordered a burger and fries. My girl ordered ribs, baked beans and potato salad. Sides were so small a fork couldnt even fit completely in the container. Ribs and burger had entirely too much smoke. Possibly dirty smoke. It tasted like a combination of burnt wood and charcoal. Those ribs and burger definitely need Bbq sauce.
I had a busboy come to my table and clean up food on the floor with a white cloth and then turned around and used that same white cloth to clean the table that I was sitting and drinking at , that is disgusting. As for the food , is below average , not worth eating and after the nastiness that unfolded in front of me with the busboy I wouldnt trust the kitchen either.Pay $ 10 to get in listen to some music and then go down the street and listen to some better music. Unfortunately the Legendary BB Kings name is attached to this place .
The food has always been delicious every time we visit. We have no complaints at all. We went on a Saturday and the wait time wasn’t bad. The staff members were very friendly and attentive. While at the table, we ordered and listened to the great band on stage. When the food cam out it was hot and very fresh. Most definitely get the ribs you won’t be disappointed!!!! Beware of the cover charge to get in on certain evenings.
The atmosphere is why you go, the menu has something for everyone. Prices on par with surroundings. Just a great place to fill the soul with music, the body with food, and the spirit with spirits. Enjoy and thank me later
Our first time here, had a wonderful time. There was a line to get in (on a Monday) and a $10 per person cover change and it was well worth it. The music was great, the service was good and the food was enjoyable. Id definitely recommend and go back. Prices were very reasonable and they pour a nice drink!
Catfish bites were delicious, went there for BBQ was very disappointed. The pulled pork bbg was dry and hard just on the plate came out with one small dinner roll asked for couple more and bbq sauce and was charged for it, bland baked beans and ok coleslaw.... wouldnt eat there again esp for the pricey food left hungry should have went elsewhere.
Super excited to eat here. Cold ribs kinda sucked but staff replaced however without my sides which I hadnt finished. Good vibes from live music. Watch your head if your tall.
The food and music were great! We were surprised by the additional $10 cover charge per person to enter. However, the entertainment was so good that we felt it was worth it.
What an amazing experience! The live music made the dinner feel so amazing. The food was great and so tasteful in every way. There was so much food for the price I couldn’t believe how much I had leftover! Our server was phenomenal, he could hear everything over the music. I definitely would recommend going during the live music. We sat on the second level and had a great view of the band, and they were very interactive with the audience! So many people were dancing and enjoying themselves. I cannot wait to come back again. I love it!
Absolutely great night here; great vibes, great music, great service from Shandra who looked after us brilliantly and just fantastic food......the ribs were delicious 😋.......only negative was the poor service from Frank behind the bar and his tip was adjusted accordingly!!!🥴...... would definitely recommend a visit to this bar.
Great live music, even bought a CD. The food was good and the wine was alright. We went for lunch and it was full. Its a must if you go to Memphis. That said, it seems to me that this city is losing the Blues and gaining distribution centres plus a top notch childrens hospital in St. Judes.
From the time (3:00 pm) arrived we felt a warm welcome. I have a disability and was treated with kindness and care. The manager made sure I had a safe place to park my scooter and we were led to a table. Our server, Georgia greeted us and did an excellent job. All of the staff went above and beyond to be helpful. We ordered the ribs and they were tender and delicious. We stayed to enjoy the live music that started at 4:00pm. Georgia stopped by frequently to check on us. The music was good and what you expect on Beale Street. I would say this is the best experience we have had since Covid. I wish more businesses had such great service and staff.
Atmosphere was kinda dead, service was as slow as molasses. We ordered catfish and shrimp platter and have been waiting at least 20 minutes. Even if the food is great it loses something due to the frustration of such a long and unnecessary wait. I sincerely doubt BB King would be ok with this level of service. The only upside was our bartender/server. The young man was amazing and I want to thank him for his service in the Navy
I had a wonderful experience at BB King this past Monday night , the food was good and my server Kameria was AWESOME !! she was very attentive and checked on us multiple times , never had to ask for refills or anything . The ambiance , the vibe , the people , everything was nice ! I will definitely be back !!
Awesome place. Needs to work on the service though. Food was great, would have been better if I got everything I ordered. Got an entre and no salad, no roll. Waiter left during our dinner. New waiter had no clue. Other than that. We had a great time and next time in town wont hesitate to visit again. Oh btw. Tone down the sweet tea... i mean it was like drinking syrup.
The service was top teir but food was not what ppl mk it out to be. 1st, they charge $10 per person on a sunday @1130 am. That was my 1st problem, but i wanted the experience. We had rib plate. Half sauce the other half without. The half without sauce was burnt. Sides were trash. Band did AWESOME.
GET THE RIBS. Four won’t be enough, do yourself a favor and get 8 or more. Tender, juicy, perfect char, excellent sauce.I went to a few other places around town and was disappointed by the ribs, so this BB King’s really redeemed Memphis ribs for me. Solid live music and really cool venue as well
My significant other and I absolutely loved this place! We visited Memphis for the very first time for my birthday/ our anniversary trip and we decided to go here after a man standing outside convinced us to come in and try it! I was skeptical at first just because I get nervous about trying new places but it did not disappoint. My significant other said it was the best bbq he had ever had. It was so hard not eating here again during the weekend we were there because after we left this place, all I could think about was how good the food was! I was saddened that the man that convinced us to try it was no longer outside anymore as we were leaving because I planned to thank him for the delicious recommendation. We will be back again one of these days.
Family of 5, ages 10-51, everyone liked the food n atmosphere. Live band was good. Check their schedule of performers. No reservation was required but it was busy so come early.
I loved this place. My first time coming into Memphis and I had to check this location out. At first, I had to pay $10 for the show. I was a little hesitant to do that, but I have to say it was well worth the show. The food was really good. The only issue that I had was my waitress, who only showed up with my food and never came back at all. I had to hunt her down to pay my bill. But other than this mild issue, I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend checking this location out when you arrive in Memphis. I will tell others about it.
Great music venue, live blues bands every night. The venue was packed on a Wednesday night. Food was really good too. We tried the BBQ chicken nachos. Huge plate with all the toppings and for once the BBQ was not over-powering. Drinks are reasonably priced. Even if youre a Memphis local, you will love the music and vibe. Highly recommend you try B B Kings.
If Keelyn is performing here be careful! This man mentions a giveaway at his show so that he can find and follow your girlfriend after. Besides that weird and unprofessional behavior. The food was exceptional and the rest of the staff did very well. Unfortunately Keelyn made me feel inclined to leave a poor review because he made me feel uncomfortable and I’ll probably never eat there again.
The meals are huge! Between 6 of us we shared 4 starters and each had an entree. Way too much. Could have shared 1 starter and our own entree. The music was incredible. Tina Turner singer was so good. Band was awesome. I had the blackened chicken pasta and it was amazing, but there was so much leftovers.
Oldest BBKings restaurant. Great music, excellent food, you can no miss this place when youre visiting Beale Street in Memphis. You have to pay a $10 fee per person, it doesnt matter if youre there just to enjoy drinks and the music show, or youre there to have a great meal. I highly recommend their wings, we had to order again because we loved them. The pulled pork sandwich is great, probably best I ever had. Waffle and chicken is a must, do not miss that one.
