Vanity Restaurant, Nightclub and Entertainment Venue

I came across Vanitys Happy hour during a break in between classes! I was looking for a quick bite and maybe a sip at a decent price. The bar manager was friendly and helpful. We decided to try the Flight of wings and the Chorizo stuffed mushrooms! The wings were I think 6 different flavors all great! Chicken was perfectly fried! The creamy cucumber blue cheese dip was out of this world! That is one great recipe! I returned the next week to some changes! The great drink specials were over much to my dismay! Yet I was enthused to find out they changes their menu. I mean it was good before but it is excellent now! New food options and quite different apps which is wonderful!! I will be back soon to give my reviews on the menu changes and the food!! I was also told by the awesome bartender they are changing their name as well to Temple 144! The place is just beautiful inside!! The club side is the bomb!! Clean bathrooms, clean bar and great staff!! Big shout out to the Chefs you are the freakin best! Great job on the new menu!

Very rude bartender, yelled at my friends and I after we gave him a few drinks we wanted and he couldnt remember it all, then when I went to tip him he threw the cash in my face and said too keep it because he thought the tip was too low apparently. Then went to over charge me first saying it was $56, then the receipt said $66, and now looking at the charge on my statement which says $80, even after I wrote a $0 tip on the receipt. Really discouraging experience as a first timer at this club and just wanted a fun night out with my friends.

First of all New Haven needed a place like this! Place is gorgeous and staff is very professional. As a former night club manager I have to make a few suggestions though: Sound system is OK but no acoustics. You can hear the music clear unless you are on the dance floor. Also I dont know if you guys making any money from the pool tables but I would consider getting rid of the pool tables and expend the main floor. It also gets really hot in there, perhaps better AC :-) over all a great experience. If you like house music check out their website for the line up, this place is bringing the scene back to New Haven!

As a nightclub this place is not ideal. I can’t speak to it’s merits as a restaurant. But as a nightclub it wasn’t good. They tried their best but fell short. Music was not good, the service was OK, for some reason their ATM reader thinks you’re making fraudulent purchases which just delays purchases, even though I didnt have the same issue at other places across the street. I spent a good amount of money at this venue in one night and it was easily one of the worst nights I’ve had in a while. I liked the people who worked there and they really tried to accommodate my group, and were always respectful and understanding, but for whatever reason whether it was management or just this night in particular I had a disappointing time.

I attended last night to watch Deorro perform and it was an absolutely incredible night. First off, it was a pleasure finally meeting John. He is extremely nice and made my friends and I feel so welcomed. He’s quite the professional.Secondly, Vanity came out perfect; what a beautiful venue. Everything from the bars, seats, lounge area, and bathrooms looks as though a lot of hard work, time, and dedication were put into each to make everything look as beautiful as it does.Lastly, this venue is unlike anything Connecticut has ever had. I couldn’t be happier that we finally an elite nightclub to attend, that also brings in major artists.I had so much fun last night. The nightclub area is the perfect size. The staff I encountered - bouncers and bartenders were all very friendly. The music was great, everything sounded nice, and the visuals and lights were pretty cool. To top it off, the crowd was excellent - no one ever made me feel uncomfortable, there were no fights or altercations, and I had a blast dancing. My feet are so sore today but I would repeat last night again in a heartbeat. Undoubtedly my new favorite place in Connecticut. I can’t wait to see what other artists Vanity will bring into Connecticut and look forward to attending more of their events as well as having dinner there some time.Whether you’re in your twenties, thirties, forties, or fifties, if you’re into the EDM scene this is the where it’s at in Connecticut.

Went online to look at the menu, everything looked great! went there with a party of 4!! big mistake no tables set up for dinner nobody to greet us with menus, a girl sitting at the bar yelled sit anywhere! we pulled two tables together the waitress gave us a piece of paper so called menu with a few items wraps / misc items, I ask what happen to the nice items from online? she replied Im not sure! no specials not even close to the menu they have posted online! the place was completely empty 3 parties walk in and turned back around in the 5 minutes we where there> I was so embarrassed to think I would take anyone to this type of establishment!!! stop the madness call this place a night club!! close the 144 Temple restaurant part down you have nobody that cares about the restaurant part !!!!

The staff is friendly. It’s a fun atmosphere. The food is awesome. The chef takes great care in preparing the meals and offers a variety of tastes. One of New Haven’s must visit. The night life is amazing as well with some of the best DJs in the business. A visit to Vanity will not disappoint you!

While I get that this place is trying to fill a gap in New Haven nightlife (by building up the club scene), I was sorely disappointed with my experience here. Ive seen far better clubs in much more modest cities, and frankly I expected a more polished club from a city like New Haven. Vanity lacks the modernity and class of a good club, and still reeks of the old Playwright/Russian Lady vibe (except now with creepy sexist undertones). In addition, the bartender we dealt with could not even produce a Manhattan (we all tried the drink produced and agreed it was straight vermouth on the rocks). And the cover was exorbitant, especially given that we were the only people on the dance floor while there. Youd be better off going to one of New Havens many classy bars/restaurants, as this place will not settle your appetite for a club and it will make you wish youd spent your $$ elsewhere.

They charged my friends and me the $5 cover when we got there a little bit before 1AM. We figured we still had a little over an hour, so that wasnt a big deal-- except that there were only a handful of people there, and the staff had already started cleaning for the night! We didnt feel comfortable getting drinks or dancing when they were sweeping and wiping down tables, so we left. In short, it was inhospitable and felt rather sleazy to charge us money to get in only to watch them clean up.Afterwards, we went to BAR instead, where there were still tons of people dancing and having a good time. With only forty minutes before closing, BAR let us in (for free) and took our coats (for free (where as Vanity charged $3/coat).In short, dont waste your hopes on Vanity being the nightclub New Haven was missing: just go to BAR.

This place was absolutely amazing! From the moment you walk in the atmosphere is great and you can tell alot of work went into making the place visually stunning to look at. Now...let me tell you about the food. They have the best executive chef out there. Chef Andrew is a diamond in the rough as far as Im concerned. He makes the best food Ive ever tasted. From the appetizer to the entree to the dessert. He makes food interesting from macncheese incased in cheese-its to a popcorn shot (yes you read that correct!) The flavors are out of this world. I wish i could have had everything on the menu it sounded and tasted that good! I would eat here every day if i could. Not only was dinner great but afterwards i was ready to dance some of it off. And let me say their nightclub is killer too!! It feels like a totally separate entity and had high energy. All in all.. you need to go here. They have it all. The atmosphere, the food, and the entertainment. You wont regret it.

NICE PLACE..I went to support a couple of new artists. They were good...But the Bartender was My Show, I asked for her to be creative and just MAKE me something...WOW...the pickled cucumbers along side the hot wings were a interesting touch..

Such a shame this historic and beautiful venue will most likely close again bc of absolutely horrible management/ownership. Didnt want to believe the bad reputation bc it was so new but after experiencing it myself I will never book another event there nor will i be visiting as a patron- not at least until its under new management/ownership once again. I give it until winter before it has to shut down again. Two thumbs way down. 👎👎

Johnny brings the best Djs in the industry on weekly basis !!! The place has a really cool setup. The dance floor is huge. And their vip sections are bigger than most clubs

Old Crowd like 40+. Paid $50 to see Rick Ross pose on Stage. Will not party here again.

High cover, watery drinks, and practically empty. The place is crawling with bouncers and people avoided the dance floor like the plague. Save your money and go somewhere fun.

This place is gorgeous! Super busy Thursday through Sunday but a good place the rest of the week for happy hour after work!

Between the multiple bars inside, the pool tables and the huge dancefloor and sound system, this place is a must go for everyone!

The interior looks dated and I think they hired an entire bus load of prostitutes and Bros to fill it.
