My dinner experience at Bamboulas on Frenchmen Street was nothing short of spectacular! The ambiance was enhanced by the lovely music performed by Amber & the Sweet Potatoes, adding a delightful touch to the evening. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and creativity. From the charming atmosphere to the incredible live music, Bamboulas offers an unforgettable dining experience that captures the essence of New Orleans vibrant culture. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable night out in the Big Easy!🎶 💜👑-Marisa Balletti-Lavoie
Bamboula’s is a fantastic jazz bar! We just happen to be walking around Frenchmen area on a Monday afternoon when we heard this wonderful jazz music from the street. The jazz band was great, they were very lovely and interacted well with the crowd. We had drinks at the bar; the bartender was friendly and nice. Some people were eating but we just stayed for drinks. No doubt this bar would be rocking in the evening so this is definitely worth a visit next time we’re in New Orleans!
We were looking for a place with live music and a little different than the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street, and did we ever find it.The setup was great, with the music at the front of the house and a great band playing, really made it a great experience. The staff was great and quick to help us out with suggesting items that would be tasty. The drinks were reasonable, and the food was delicious. Far and away, one of the best gumbos I had during our whole trip.Take a moment to venture down Frenchmen Street and grab a table here, you wont be disappointed.
We stumbled upon this bar while strolling Frenchman searching for some live blues or jazz. Creole Cookin was playing and big papa knew how to draw a crowd! I tried the melon tone... and proceeded to have 4 more! They were just that good!! The fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and mini muffallatas were all delicious!
What a horrible experience we had in Bamboulas. There was really no need for it.We were walking by Frenchman street to check out the various clubs and decide where to stop, as you do when you are in that part of NOLA.We were entering in Bamboulas and a very grumpy man at the entrance told up quite abruptly you need to pay if you want to listen to music.Fair enough we thought and didnt give it much weight as the message was in line with other clubs. We got in, ordered 2 drinks, and had to pay cash, which is not ideal but ok.1 of the drinks was watered down, which is extremely unusual in NOLA.We then started watching the show. As we were squeezed in a corner, we saw a free stool. Awesome! We had been walking the whole day and decided to sit on it.The grumpy man comes back and quite rudely tells me to hop down.Ok I think it must be his stool so I move a few steps to allow him to sit & control the room and allow me to keep watching the show (that we had paid for at that point). The man immediately comes to me again and tells me to move because that was a fire hazard. He almost shouted at me and called me kid.Now.. I am a pretty big man, Im over 40 and I have my dignity. With total calm I move and tell him Ill do it but there is no need to calm me a kid, thanks. The man lost his temper and aggressively told me to shut up and stop acting like that or he would have had my a** kicked out. This was the only single bad interaction with a human being in NOLA. It left a very bad taste luckily washed away in the other days. I am surprised that place is not empty by now.Maybe thats because the following day they had already changed the bouncer. In addition, after the first song, music was not that good.
This bar is definitely a vibe. A neat building and atmosphere. The food was good. My husband said they had the best wings he has ever eaten so we even got some to go. The band was very good but also very loud.
They definitely need more wait staff. We had to go find someone to order food. Overall I wasn’t very thrilled about the food or service. The menu was outdated. There was a very large section in the back that looked unused. I’m thinking this place was just having an off night but I don’t think I’d return unless there was something specific going on. Good beer though.
A great all-ages venue. They book great acts, and there is no cover with just a one-drink minimum per set. My niece and I enjoyed the music while eating fries, big pretzels and jambalaya and sipping on ginger ales. The wait staff, shout out to April and Margo, were lovely and helpful. I have been several times and will certainly be back!
An absolute must do while in New Orleans. You have not done New Orleans until youve been to Bamboulas! Very welcoming, friendly, helpful and happy staff. Yes the fried pickles are fantastic as was the burgers and drinks. The building ambiance and bands they book are top notch day and night. Great A/C as well.
Good to have options like this far from Bourbon street. I enjoyed the band playing and the service was good. I did not like that you get your drinks in a disposable plastic cup instead of a glass, specially if you are not planning to leave with your drink.
Looking for Blues in NOLA turned out to be challenging. House of Blues was closed until July. Next place (I believe Blue Nile but not sure of name) was inexplicably closed. Google said they were open, but when we arrived they were closed with no explanation. Wandered next door to Bamvoulas and were happy to have found good drinks, good service, a fun atmosphere, and a live band. Fun night out!
We were on our way back when I heard the amazing music and the magical voice of Ed Wills. We ended up stopping by and staying for a while. They dont have a cover but they do have a one drink minimum which is nothing when you get to listen to great music. Place got busy as they kept playing but we still got a good view and the service was good too. I highly recommend.
Amazing restaurant & Bar day and night. Featuring local talent all day and night. This is what New Orleans is. Staff are kind and efficient, burgers are juicy, fried pickles are served cold and are delicious and crunchy. A/C is kicking full for those hot humid days and atmosphere is historic and fun. This is a must visit on Frenchmans Street! Reminder, there is no cover so please show your appreciation for the artists ($). Most places charge five to ten dollars per person to enter wherever live music is played.
We (husband and 5 month old baby) visited Saturday at 4 p.m. The live music lured us in (walk-ins) and we had a great time. We stayed for two hours and really enjoyed ourselves. The catfish po boy was excellent and served hot. We also ordered the hurricane and blonde Nola ale. We would return again.
Bamboulas has a lot of areas of seating where you can listen to live music. One night we were there and really wanted to eat, which was the night they didnt have a great live band (at all). The second night we didnt have much time to stay around and they had a great band. The server seemed kind of bothered to serve us and we really had to work at placing our order. The pretzel was delicious. The fried pickles were very soggy and we returned them. The fried green tomatoes with shrimp were pretty good! Entrance and restrooms are accessible to a degree (its N.O. after all).
Great live music. Terrible food and service. I had gumbo and it had no meat in it, no flavor, and was full of overcooked mushy vegetable in a greasy thin bland broth. I did not eat it. Told our waitress it was gross when she came to take our food away and she did not care at all. Ceviche was foshy and came with only 5 chips. Crab cakes were okay. Food took forever to come out and we had to request refills on our drinks twice. The band was great!
We had a group of 10 go in about 5 pm on a Wednesday. The music was great. A Swing band. We ate an early dinner. The food came out quickly. All the food was good . Our waitresses was great.
The music is phenomenal. The food is soooo good. The staff are attentive and pleasant. This was our go to bar. 100% recommend,as was recommend to us
Cool place, but dont go here if youre expecting service. We sat for almost 40 minutes with zero acknowledgement while the tables around us were served. It was busy, but no so busy that they couldnt have taken our drink order. Finally ordered our one drink minimum per set from the bar and then tried to order food and they were out of what we wanted. Sounded like a good place via the reviews but was honestly a waste of our time for overpriced drinks and no meal. The only good thing was the live music.
Great bar on Frenchman. The hurricanes were strong and the mini muffalettas were delicious! They also have live jazz bands. Fun spot!
Stopped in for the live music and drinks. I’m not sure what drink I had, told the bartender to surprise me. Was fantastic. Ended up having 3 of them. The music was phenomenal. Great atmosphere. The lady working the door was so nice, helped me find a spot at the bar to hang out at. Overall the ambiance was incredible. Recommend to everyone to check this place out on Frenchmen.
I went to Bamboulas after not being impressed with Bourbon street, walked to Frenchman Street had had a very good time at Bamboulas. Great service, food and the band was Fantastic.
This was a chill place. No cover and the food was decent and reasonably priced. Our waitress was great. Only thing I didnt like was that the band that was on, their main singer just kept repeating after every song that there was no cover so ppl should tip. I get it but it was a bit much hearing her say it over and over again. That being said the trombone player was amazing and had a great voice too.
Loved the food 😍 here, had an amazing waitress, and had an amazing experience with a live band. Its a little harder to get in here with children since there is a bar but if you can get in the shrimp po boy is 👌🔥💯, jambalaya just 👼, and a 😋 fried seafood plater. Overall great experience wish had more time in Nola to eat here again but well definitely be back next time.
We werent able to get into any of the jazz clubs along Frenchman Street during the evening, so we came during the day for lunch to see what we could find. We stopped by Bamboulas because we heard a band, so we came in for lunch. We had a great time! The band was a lot of fun and so was our server. My friends had drinks and I had nachos - we were all happy :-)
Absolutely some of the worst service Ive ever had. We were ignored for 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. There after, the server was super slow. The food amounts were small, expensive, and tasted bad. The gumbo had such strong fish flavor that it was inedible. Id never do back.
Best food on our trip so far. Service was slow, but food was really good. Recommended by a local. Roast beef po boy was best of our table: huge, well seasoned. Second best was the Seafood BLT. Crab cake appetizer was super flavorful. Fried green tomatoes had no flavor without the remaloude. The oyster po boy was light, but excellent oysters. 5 apps, 3 entrees and 4 hurricanes was $144, so a bit pricey. Also, order your hurricane without pineapple juice if you want to taste the alcohol. Live music was awesome.
Awesome live, local music, no cover! Stop by on a Friday or Saturday night for a funky, rippin New Orleans blues set! Open early Sundays for a traditional dixieland style Jazz brunch. Awesome drink specials from mimosas to moscow mules, hurricanes, and local craft beers. Both bar and table seating available. Nice mix of bar food, and new orleans dishes available. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating is the bar seating and wait time for drinks when bands are playing. It gets a little too hectic and crowded at the bar, even if youre sitting there. They could probably use an extra bartender most shifts or open up the back bar. Other than that, its a fun time and the music is phenomenal. Cant wait til theyre back in full swing after covid. Awesome local spot!
We wanted good food, good music and good ambience - this place had all with the addition of excellent service!! We got the catfish, turkey and shrimp poboys and each of them were super tasty. The band, Marty Peters and the Party meters, was absolutely great. We enjoyed the music so much! Overall a wonderful experience.
The crabcakes were salty and inedible. We complained to the staff but we were still charged full price. The live band was satisfactory.
Came in for lunch ordered a drink. Food was amazing. Singer played half a song before going on break while I was there. Came asked for a tip, I apologized for not having cash. She told me that was in bad form and I shouldnt come here without cash. One bad vibe killed the experience. Was there today at lunch time.
Let me tell you, Club Bamboulas is the spot. Justin Donovan Band was the I would say fusion jazz group I saw. They were absolutely phenomenal. The host was great also. Forget Bourbon Street. Frenchman is where its happening at. Club Bamboulas and Frenchman Street is where its at less the rowdiness of Bourbon street.
Very friendly servers and bartenders here. The drink menu is pretty extensive, especially the beer list. For the the type of place it is, you’d expect maybe 10 beers to choose from but this has more like 20-30. Live music was fantastic, and the seats near the door were great. Could stay here for hours and soak in the tunes.
They always have a good band. I stumbled upon the Secret 6 jazz band playing here. I stayed for 1 of their sets. The band had a tip bucket and were selling some CDs, I purchased 2of them for $20. Cheap drinks in the place like every other bar in the city. But why not have a cover charge at the door that goes directly towards the musicians , THE MUSICIANS ARE ALL SUPER TALENTED!!!
We were greeted with welcoming service, all the waiters were friendly. We werent sure what to expect either the live band, but we were not disappointed. This was the best night we had in our 5 day stay in NOLA. We will for sure be back. The drinks were well done and the food was pretty good. Wish the serving size was a bit more. Overall a great time.
Kaitlyn our server was excellent. Great food. Great music. We saw Giselle Anguizola. 1930-1940s jazz.
The service here is awful. Waiters and staff are unbelievably rude. Our table of 5 was kicked out because the waiter started an argument about Coke Zero vs Diet Coke. He cursed at us and was extremely hostile. Even worse, I am 5 months sober and in recovery. After asking for a lemonade, he asked “with vodka?” and I replied “no, thank you”. Then he chuckled and I saw him write “vodka lemonade” on his pad. We just wanted to enjoy some food and music at Mardi Gras and this man ruined our nigh. Hopefully he doesn’t stay long because the menu and vibe seemed cool.
A must do while in New Orleans. Good for all ages, as it is a restaurante atmosphere. Staff @ Bamboulas! We’re very welcoming, friendly, great staff. Yes the food was great we had the shrimp basket. The music and bands they book are top notch day and night. My husband got to play and sing with one of the bands and my girls had so much fun singing along with them. Great A/C as well.❤️ 514 Frenchmen St,Marigny,New Orleans
Great little jazz place! The band was tight and friendly. Definitely check it out!
Our favorite place on Frenchman. Gumbo and chicken ceasar salad were great. Music is awesome!
Someone put something in my wifes drink. And before you think she had too much to drink like the staff... she didnt even finish her first one. Also her purse was stolen. I will never go back. Had police involved.
Lovely, laid back, chill atmosphere.2 locks on ladies bathroom, both broke.Tables not stable enough to hold a drink.Chairs not stable enough to hold a customer.Owners need to invest a little TLC to stop this place from declining further.2 x Beers & tip $20.
Great place to listen to live jazz on famous Frenchmen street in New Orleans and have a great time. Food and drinks are good as well.
So, Saturday afternoon, great weather. The band is exceptional with tons of energy. The food was really tasty. However, beware, $8.50 for a small plastic cup of beer and charging $1.25 for a tiny cup of remoulade sauce without notice was surprising. No beer prices on the beer list. So, go for the music... The service was ok, but I had to chase down the wait staff for the check. Visited the table twice...for the order and to bring the check.
Drinks where great, the food is what you expect from a dive jazz bar cheap and decent. And Half Oyster for $.75 cent cant be that
We only stopped in for cocktails and to listen to live music. The band was great and kept thing lively and fun, I imagine they usually have a good line up every weekend. The service was slow, it took 20 mins to get our drinks and the waiter admitted to forgetting about us when he finally brought them. The drink prices were not on the menu and the waiter didn’t know any prices. To our surprise it was $27 for a small beer and a mixed drink. I don’t think we’d order alcohol here again but would stop back by for the music.
Was exactly what I was looking for for the New Orleans experience. Food was great and the band tonight was amazing. Service was a bit slow but the poor waitress was overworked and still provided amazing service. Love that it wasn’t near Bourbon Street with all the disgusting people and felt very safe here. Would highly recommend.
Every place in New Orleans is dripping with great Jazz and fine music. But to rate the place honestly, reset the bands to equal footing and judge it on its own merits. This place has great music, otherwise it is a typical dive bar. The drinks are expensive and there is no room for larger parties. Yes, I enjoyed the music, but that was the only enjoyable part. Like most places in NOLA, it survives BECAUSE it is on Frenchmen Street. If it wasnt, you wouldnt be able to drag a person into this bar. Get a few drinks in you first. If you want to SEE the band, get in early, there are less than a dozen seats where you can WATCH the band. This is an auditory experience. The darker, the better.
Came to Frenchman Street on the recommendation of the waiter at breakfast. Was drawn in by the music but totally ignored by the staff. Finally took a seat at a table. Several staff walked by and even looked in my direction several times and I was never acknowledged. Others who came in after were greeted, and their orders were taken. Not sure what that was about
House drinks were strong and tasty. The fried pickles were excellently prepared but too salty.
We were searching for food and live music and this was the spot! We lucked out and while the menu was simple it was really well done local dishes with no complaints. The live band was also well put together and tight. Enjoyed our time.
Best meal on my trip to New Orleans also great n nice staff the food was wonderful served hot unlike most other places our food was cold on arrival
Absolutely amazing bar. Amazing music. Service is top notch. Food and drinks are good. We had an amazing time
This place is awesome! Walked in late on a Friday night, seated and served right away. Sean was an incredible server! Great place for late night poboys, cocktails, and music. Also, no cover.
Great music, great food, friendly fast service. Loved this place. I had fried shrimp and it was delicious!! Big, quality shrimp fried just right and the fries were so good and hot. Simple food but so darn good.
Absolute must do while in NOLA. The food, atmosphere, wait staff, bands are top notch. We dropped in on Wednesday night and had an amazing time! There was a small crowd enjoying a great blues band. We will be back!
I havent yet been when the music has really been my style but their pulled pork sandwich is a great deal if you ever find yourself starving on Frenchmen! As my local friend puts it, the spice is just right. Drinks are strong, but when beer is $6-7 and a well drink is $7 its an easy choice. The sweet potato fries were also right on point. Ill keep coming back to find some music I dig because the pulled pork is great.
Great bar. Warm friendly staff and great local IPA beers. Fantastic band playing jazz and blues. Kids welcome if sitting at tables. Some bars do not allow kids at all
The added gratuity to a single person is ridiculous. No kind of mention about it nor any signage! 👎🏾17.00 for a lemon drop is overpriced!
A cozy but still lively place that we (tourists) really enjoyed! Had a great experience on a Sunday night, ate some of the best nachos Ive ever had, and had great drinks. Our server was great, but it was the server we thought was the manager who sold us on coming in when he chatted with us at the front door. Staff was lovely and it felt like a safe, inclusive space with wonderful music.
Stopped in while walking by due to the jazz we heard radiating through the windows. Had a few drinks and enjoyed the local jazz. One of the best times on our whole trip.
This place is an amazing little spot with live music and great service. Compared to the places around the prices are resonable and the food amazing. Our waiter Jud was amazing and even gave us free drinks!!!! The food was so good i didnt even bother with a photo. Had gumbo a poboy and crawfish beignets
THIS PLACE IS A BLAST. The service was great and the band was SO goof and so much fun. They were so accommodating for our group who had two blind people. If you are in New Orleans ... GO HERE IMMEDIATELY. Its a vibe. Frenchman Street is so much better than Bourbon Street in my opinion though
Come early if you want a table. Good is good and the band was too. 3 out of 3 wins.
Wait, staff was so stoned they could barely stay focused taking my order and had bad body odor
Amazing music and good Nachos! The staff were all kind especially the server and the security guard
Was just there in the afternoon and enjoyed the band playing, while I toasted to opening another business venture!!!
Had some drinks here and listened to a great band here. The atmosphere was great. I imagine the atmosphere is dependent on the band so perhaps we were lucky.
Please read if you have children / kids / young families. I read the reviews, looking forward to bringing my wife and 6 children (youngest is 5) in the late afternoon to have a meal and listen to the band. Website says families welcome, and one drink per person purchase required. We planned to have a few drinks and a couple of plates to share. We arrived at 545pm and the security man at the front said that we would need to buy drinks and few share plates of food. I asked if we could share, and he said yes and to find our own seats. We walked in. No tables of 8 available, so we went to the tall table section so we could see the band. The manager came up to us and said we could sit around the corner out the back on the low tables, but we couldnt see the stage. He said we couldnt sit on the high seats because of liability. Fair enough. So I went to a single lower table within view of the stage, and got my young kids to share seats so we could fit. Our young sheepish waiter then comes yo us and says that his manager said we must purchase a meal per child! Ok, so I asked - is there a childrens menu? He replied that there wasnt. When I asked if we needed to purchase 6 adult meals, he replied if you think its enough!? As we couldnt fathom eating that much, and in principle, we left. I dont think he was trying to be rude, but the joke didnt go down well in this context. Ive only posted one other poor review, but I feel compelled to give feedback on the poor management. I totally understand that these places need to make $. But all I ask is that you have a consistent policy. The manager made it clear to us, by making up rules along the way, that he didnt want us taking a table. I would suggest just make a blanket rule no kids at particular times (like most of the other bars), or put your policy of each child must order an ADULT meal on your website and on the sign out the front.
Great atmosphere with amazing music! Malichiam was our server and he did a great job even went out of his way to write down the best local bars for us. Food was average, portion sizes were small, good but nothing special. Overall decent experience.
So many good comments, are we alone in this joke??? Really? There are no prices in the menu, surprise is the check ahah, the food here is over priced for the quantity, the cocktails are expensive, the beer is cheap; the music is well…, mixed lol, there is a techno club or techno room by the bar, so you experienced the jazz group and the techno! Will you enjoy that?
We love this place and have been a few different times when we are in town. Great live music. My fiancé said their catfish basket was the best he’s ever had. So much so that he ordered a second basket. I had a bacon blue burger which was good! Nicely priced drinks and you can watch some football also!
Paid dancers. Dont worry about minimum drink signs. Enjoy the music and get your drinks at the great bartenders nearby! Absolutely ignored my mother and I. No idea why. I tipped on the first round of drinks but could never get another. No eye contact. Helped people who came in next to us repeatedly. My mother wanted to cash the ticket from the slot machine next to the bar.
Decent burger, friendly staff, great music. Worth the cover charge of one drink even if its just bottled water. Try to catch the villains they were great.
The music was amazing and the food and drinks were awesome
The live music is amazing and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I didn’t get a chance to try the food but the drinks are worth every penny!
My family and I went 3 times in a row because it was so much fun! Best place to hear really good live music any time of day, WITH under 18s. It’s family friendly but also great for a drink without kids. Waiters have always been so friendly and good is honestly good. But the drinks are also fantastic. Highly highly recommend if you’re looking for live music.
Amazing musicians here and great drinks! Did not try any food, but we went multiple times on our trip for amazing vibes
Food was phenomenal! We got the shrimp basket and it was great! Service lacked a little bit but music and atmosphere was great. Was good because we could take the kids in.
Cool place to chill and catch a chill vibe. We ordered dominos and sat there all day. Drinks are not crazy expensive either.
The music, the food and the atmosphere is incredible. I saw the review about fried pickles and I second that the fried pickles are amazing!! It’s a great place to grab a drink and have an appetizer while listening to local music.
Hands down THE BEST fried pickles Ive ever had!!! The pretzel and crab dip are also amazing! Great service, great music! I wish we would have found this place sooner!
Music was awesome. Jambalaya not to good. Drinks, eh. It was the Cajun Paloma. Two out of three toilets were not working. But I have to say the music was great.
Quaint atmosphere with live music and solid food.
We ended up at this place because previous plans fell through. Turned out to be a blessing! Good live music, awesome vibe, and amazing food and drinks. We my table got the crab dip, catfish basket, and a hamburger. All the food was really good, but the we couldnt stop eating the crab dip. Between the appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, the bill came to about $65, very reasonable for the area.
Waited and requested a waiter a couple times. Watched 3 full tables leave in the time we were there because they never got served. Which is unfortunate because the music and the atmosphere was really good.
Good music, good drinks good atmosphere, but the old guy at the door is unfriendly.
Nice place to enjoy a wide type of local bands. Menu has typical bar food heavy on the fried variety. Go for music and atmosphere! Service depends on how many people are in the club. I thought it was a little too curt at 8 pm.
This place is a whole vibe. The live music Great. The atmosphere Great. If you are on the fence about ordering the bread pudding, just order it.
An amazing experience!!!! Some the best drinks Ive ever had!!!!
Incredible food and awesome music. They have killer ceviche.
Hi, Last night we were trying to figure out where to eat, it being our first night in NOLA. The young man at the door and the fabulous band beckoned us in. We had jambalaya which was perfect! My husband enjoyed two Avita amber ales and I drank two ginger ales. Loved the club ambience. The evening was wonderful! Thanks for making us feel at home!
The jazz band that plays there is simply amazing, they played and sung a mix of different jazz songs that everyone enjoyed. I ordered the sidecar which was such a great cocktail. Also ordered the fried okra and nachos which were filling and gave large servings. This is a great place to go solo, couple or as a group. Didnt want to leave as the music and great energy just make you want to stay.
The food was AMAZING, everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked, although the service was slow. The staff were really nice! Normally you don’t have many waiters that talk to you and make you feel comfortable at a restaurant. I also loved the live music, I feel like the bands that are able to come in and play music is a really nice addition while eating here. I definitely recommend this place!
Great little place! Kids are allowed while eating, so its a great place they can sit and enjoy the music too.
Really loved this place. The service, food and music was top notch. Finally a delicious salad to eat too! (My digestive system had started to say NO to fried food!) Lovely server. And just very nice atmosphere. Loved the district of Marigny that this bar is in. Much more chilled vibes and more laid back then French Quarter. Beautiful architecture lining the streets here too, every corner a picturesque spot. Well worth a visit.
Delicious food, excellent music and friendly service! Awesome vibe and atmosphere! We will definitely be back! Added bonus: they went out of their way to help us out with a package we left behind. Great people and place!
Best jazz I ever heard live, good drinks, very good (and good looking) staff, New Orleans atmosphere at its most enjoyable. For Heavens sake, go there! You wont be sorry.
A must visit while in New Orleans! Blues band is so good they will have u up dancing! The place gets very crowded so go early, have a bite to eat and get a good table. The staff were very accommodating and nice!! Food was very good!!
Great music, not great drinks. We paid $10.50 apiece for green tea shots, but the bar sent out the wrong thing. We were not comped and the drink was not corrected. Food was decent and service was good. Would simply stick to beer next time.
Excellent bar, with great food, tremendous entertainment and a superbly helpful staff. They were crowded and short staffed when we visited, but we still got a good table quickly, got our orders in and were enjoying delicious New Orleans cuisine while listening to a great band. Highly recommended! We visited multiple time during our stay...Toby and Allie both took great care of us and kept things lively. ;)
A must visit on Frenchman street. Was a great atmosphere when I visited, live band were amazing as well !
Traveling solo and stopped in here on a Saturday night. I had so much fun the band was awesome covering all sorts of music. If you cannot have fun here then I don’t know what you’re doing out in NO!
What makes this place great is the live music. Live music In the middle of the week when it can be surprisingly a little challenging to find due to not all clubs being open for lack of a workforce. There was a band early in the evening (7pm) and a second band later in the evening (10pm). The bands they brought in were talented and engaging. There was Jazz and Blues. The wait staff was short handed but active in trying to fulfill all orders. One concern was our burger order was not how we ordered it, but our wait staff corrected as best they could.Quality Live Music made it all good...Hope that helps.
We stopped in to grab a quick bite and a beer for lunch. Dip appetizers were tasty and quite the pretzel serving with the crab dip. Decent selection of local beers on tap to try out. Reasonably priced. Live music in the afternoon was a great way to relax amid a full day of walking. Not far from French Market. Highly recommended for lunch time if you’re near there and if you have a family and need a little relaxation to chill and still get that NOLA experience listening to jazz. Don’t have to wait until night and risk it on Bourbon St.
Music fantastic! Venue great!Food was some of the worst ever. Must be really drunk to enjoy the food. The remoulade sauce was thousand islands dressing! The shrimp on the fried green tomatoes were cold and the tomatoes were barely cooked. The spinach and artichoke dip was bland and the pita bread seemed to be deep fried.
Great band, large beer selection, clean bathrooms... it was a very cool atmosphere! But the service was lacking. Wanted to order food but our server took forever to come back. Decided to just have a beer and leave at this point. Seemed like she was having a rough night, so I hope for her sake it got better.
Band was great, but the service nonexistent. Fortunately, my husband grabbed the beers on the way by the bar. We finally flagged down a waitress to bring a food menu and she gave that to us, but said shed have to see who our waitress was. Nothing. Stopped another waitress. Same story. No service. We enjoyed the music, hoping that one of the multiple servers would take our order. We felt like we must have been sitting at an invisible or haunted table.Finished our beers and stood up to leave. The first waitress finally asked if we needed anything. Nope! Not happening after being ignored for 45 min.Lots of great bars, food and music on Frenchman st. Skip this one!
Out wandering the neighborhood and decided tonget some food. Glad we did. Music was fun, food was fantastic. Had the jambalaya and blue cheese burger, and fried okra. We had all the top listed restraunts on our list. This place was better than all those.
Ended up here looking for a lunch place on Frenchmen Street. There was a great live band playing. Its a very laid back bar with small tables to dine. I wasnt expecting much from the food but after having the P.O. boy sandwiches they were great. The portions are also huge and the prices are excellent. Also had a very good server. Definitely would go here again.
Live music and best value drinks in NOLA, the food is good too. Frenchman street is the best part of the French quarter.
Waiter tried to spike my friend’s drink, she’s been 5 months sober and dude lied about alcohol being in her drink.
Jazz was great, but food was poor and service was horrendous. We couldnt get service to save our lives and had to repeatedly flag down a waitress to get a menu and place an order. They didnt have the beer I asked for (that was on their draft just) so the waitress suggested another that wasnt at all like what I asked for. I asked for a different beer and was given one but with clear disdain. Our food was quite bad actually, and the worst Ive ever had in NOLA (been several times). It was cold, undercooked and meager for the price. Id never come back here except to grab a drink from the bar and listen to jazz. Theres a reason the place emptied out the moment the jazz band finished up I guess...
We had a pretty good overall experience, not nearly like some of the bad reviews here. We had in our favor it was mid day and not crowded and sat at the bar. Service is fine food was as good as or better than expected. Really good catfish Po boy. Live music is a plus. It’s a nice layout and a well done interior, but when it’s crowded I can understand it being frustrating.
