The dance floor smells like armpits lol. The security needs to deny entry for smelly people. It is a major health hazard I almost choke on my drink.
There is a pickpocket ring operating out of this bar. Multiple people had valuables stolen. DO NOT GO HERE. The staff doesnt care when you notify them. Seriously do not go, the bad music isnt worth all of your stuff being stolen.
My girlfriend and I went here in January and had a really “meh” experience. We sat down and my girlfriend ordered a tequila sour. The bartender, white dude, quite skinny, loose fitting white sweatshirt and jeans smirked and said “Little bartender secret, there’s no such thing as a tequila sour. We’re always gonna make a margarita.” Dog I been a bartender for over 10 years, a sour can be made with any spirit + lemon juice, a simple syrup, and, optionally, egg whites. Then I order a whiskey sour to which he says “That I can do” and my partner says “Okay, I’ll do the same thing but with tequila”. We finish our drinks and we get cashed out by another guy who was much nicer. He noticed the first person didn’t start us a tab and said “He never does” and rolled his eyes. Didn’t charge us full price for drinks and wished us a good night. That’s the only reason it gets 2 stars not 1.
Wonderful selection of liquors, especially considering they have no martini glasses. Jules was our bartender and made excellent conversation. She is a luminous personality. She was open to adapting drinks to our taste and that made us feel very welcome. We were able to enjoy a bees knees, sidecar, amaretto sour, and gin martini… which is disturbingly hard to enjoy at a single establishment in this neighborhood
My friend & I purchased drinks at the bar and she payed for hers on her card and the female bartender with blonde hair screamed at her for not tipping. I then payed for my drink ($12) with a $20 bill and she took it without giving me change and said Thisll do. When I asked if I could have change she rudely said No, thats what your friend gets for not tipping. WTH?! Tipping for what, turning the ipad around? This was extremely unprofessional. If she wanted a tip and asked in a nice manner we would have tipped, but she was hostile and unwelcoming. Overall a bad experience.
Terrible service. Rude bartenders. Blonde hair female bartender is mad rude she will look at you and just go serve somebody else. 0/10
Mediocre place. Rude bartenders. My friend didn’t tip on one bottle of beer and the bartender complained about it and didn’t serve either of us for the rest of the night
The bartender simply just does not give you your change back. The explanation was: “we don’t have any.”
Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. Guy in the baseball cap behind the bar wouldn’t give me service as I didn’t tip him. Extremely rude and aggressive. Won’t be back.
DO NOT GO HERE!! I had my phone stolen last night out of my purse. 2 other girls also had their phones stolen - one I met outside the bar and the other at the police station the next morning when we were both filing reports:) The bar is not worth losing your valuables, having to go to all that trouble, and ruining your night!
I only gave 4 stars because this vibe might not be for everybody. It wouldn’t be my choice for kiddos or grandparents. Girls night, fellas, couples most definitely ok.If you like to be on the scene and in the mix this is the spot! Located on prime real estate on Avenue A this is the place to see and be seen. You can take your drinks inside, outside or if you’re really feelin secretive head to their speakeasy in the basement. We came for after dinner drinks...but had to order from the menu. Post COVID money maker. No complaints on their fries.WARNING: the bathrooms are beyond small and and not kept up.
So I ordered this burger and after the first bite I this was something special, I can honestly say I was blown away. Idk if it was an accident but the burger tasted like popcorn. I made a friend take a bite so I wasn’t the only one tasting this. I pulled waiter aside and told him to tell the chef that even if this was a mistake they need to repeat it. Maybe it’s corn oil?! Idk I’m not a chef, but it tasted exactly like actual popcorn. I’m going back for this burger and I’ll be upset if it doesn’t like popcorn 🍿
Used to love this place for clubbing but it has grown so much in popularity that it’s impossible to even get into the dance floor to dance. Music is really good as they play musics from all eras especially 2000s. Usually no cover for women.
Cool place I went there on a Friday at like 230 so not really prime time , but Id go back and see how it is later at night
Not filled with TVs! Bartender was very friendly. Im new to Going Out and she made me feel comfortable. Very chill, kind of empty. One person on their laptop lol. We were there early (about 8:30) though so probably that vibe is not typical.
This used to be one of my favorite bars as of the few remaining rock ‘n’ roll bars. I remember going here when the strokes were regulars and it was an amazing atmosphere until very recently. I went here tonight with a new person from out of town. I walked in first and she could not find her ID, so I stepped to the side out of the way to make sure she got in. Security asked me to move to inside which I did but apparently I was not far enough into the bar so they kept pushing me in further, and I explained that my friend who is not from here is not inside, and I want to make sure that she is OK. They said why be inside if you don’t want to be here and I told them that’s not the issue. I want to make sure my friend gets in and they would not have it and asked me to leave. Happily since this iconic rock bar sold out and was playing vomit top 40s pop. Not worth it. I won’t be back.
Great atmosphere and music, loads of whisky and bourbon. The kind of place where the boys in the band hang out. Not full of loud sorority girls, at least not on a Tuesday night.Loved it.
Racist patrons and bouncers. The bouncers are discriminatory towards colored people even though they are one of them. A group of us were dancing on the dance floor and my friends went to get a drink. I continued dancing minding my own business. A white drunk college kid comes in with a girl and forcefully pushes me to the ground. I give the kid an earful and the bouncers come and throw me out of the club and do not say a word to the kid. Will never return to this place.
Came here for girls night and wouldRecommend! Packed place (decently young crowd on a Saturday) that’s great for dancing, music was great. If you’re looking for a chill vibe this is not it. Ended up needing the manager and security and they were both amazing and resolved the issue immediately. Drinks were medium and service was pretty quick considering the crowd. Will definitely be back
Terribly rude bartenders, refused to serve me for no apparent reason and would not explain why. Shouted at my friends for simply stating we did not receive what we ordered. Good place being ruined by the bartenders.
Tiana,Please have her as a bartender she actually is the greatest bartender created. She’s so sweet and very inclusive. Please if you ever come here request Tiana!
There is a small cover charge but very fun place to be at and totally worth it. The staff was really cool and responsive to the people, space, and interactions so it never felt like a bad time in there. The DJ mostly played electronic music but they had a good mixture of music with it to get you moving, throwbacks, chilling songs, and just party music, also a lit but of pop and reggae but that was rare. Overall great vibes, really nice people, and a lot of fun.
Extremely rude staff. got two drinks and had the same bartender both times tipped for the first drink but not for the second bc the drinks were not that good (and i’m only getting 2 seconds of her time, she didn’t even try to engage with me). yelled at me exclaiming i’m a “no tipper” and told her coworkers not to serve me or my friend. checked my bank account when i got home and she gave herself a $4 tip! fyi, the bartender was the girl with the ugly black lipstick. overall ugly person inside and out.
Atrocious venue, rude bartenders, dirty bathrooms. Avoid. The bartenders are extremely hostile and vulgar. The bouncers are surprisingly nice, but once youre inside, the staff are such nasty people.
I have never been to a worse bar experience. Please don’t waste your time here…. a friend of mine lost his wallet here and went to look for it.Staff was incredibly rude (went ballistic). Turns out his wallet was there.I think they were actively bigoted against my friend for being dark asian.
If there was a zero star rating, this would be the place to give it. There was a bartender with a beard and long hair who appeared under the influence. He charged me $37 for two drinks when I ordered four. I let him know that he missed the other two drinks I ordered so after making them for me he charged another $74 on top of the $37 I already paid. When confronting him on this error, a little short girl behind the bar jumped on her stool, and flashed a light in my eye. They told the female manager working the door that I was being disrespectful. They did not even allow me to explain my case and told us we had to leave. All in all I was out $100+ Dollars and did not even get to have one drink. Ironically, the only person empathetic about the situation was the bouncer. If you are in New York, I highly suggest you avoid this place at all costs!!!!!
Customer service is a zero. Employees are extremely rude. I love the location and i’m a huge dive bar fan, but if i were you…i would avoid this place. Much better places to drink in the area.
One star is too much for the way we were treated. The middle-aged white female staff member is terrible. Wouldnt let my friend pick up her own belongings. Kept me out while I had to let her go in alone to a crowd of drunks where she wouldnt let her pick out her own bag and coat. Were not here to steal. Well respect you when you respect us. Do better. No wonder the terrible rating.
Packed with underage college kids.Charged me $45 for 1 bud light to which the bartender responded “don’t order drinks for people you don’t know.” I plead with the bartender I have no idea what she’s talking about but I’ll pay for the beer. Proceeds to signal the bouncer, escorts me out. Old lady doing the cover charges throws a drink at me that hits me in the face, blames it on random girls walking out. I check my statement and I’m charged $58. Sleezy place.
The bar charges $4 for a cup of water. The bartenders and bouncers are extremely rude. The place is so overcrowded you cant even walk, let alone dance. Tell your friends to avoid this place if they want to have fun.
A fun bar with great bartenders. The owner is not someone you want to meet while enjoying the fun crowded dance floor. One of my favourite bars in New York until the owner herself kicked me out for bumping into her. There are many bars in the area that don’t charge the same cover and are just as fun without someone breathing down your neck.
We didn’t even get inside - the blond lady at the doors thought we’re couple (two girls) and didn’t let us in (You’re too drunk). Homophobic place. Usually I don’t write reviews but this was really awfully awkward. Zero stars.
Got 3 light beers for $12+$3 tip a couple days ago. Just got an updated transaction statement for $75. Tipped themselves an additional $50. Criminal. Only bringing cash to these EV slums for now on.
The manager, an older blonde lady with tattoos made a big fuss about outside food while providing none. There is no food available yet they make a fuss about food. Ridiculous.
Jackson was my bartender. Went during the Happy Hour for 4 dollar drinks. Awesome. The punk music was good. I don’t like weekends. I usually stay home and play my guitar and practice. Fries were super good. Hope to see you again Jackson. Hope you songwrite
Definitely doesn’t card and serves to underage kids. Obnoxious kids. Like running around moshing and making out practically on top of you kids. Charged $17 for a literal teaspoon of a drink with absolutely no alcohol in it. Would call the cops on them if I half the mind… don’t go here.
If you are fond of a doorperson that cant bother to look up at you from their phone when they barely acknowledge you and proceed to rudely say I need your ID and you need to pay 20 dollar cover, then this is the place for you. 20 bucks? No problem. ID? Of course. Im sure the doorpersons pay is not great but it is not an excuse to go out of your way to do your job with an unpleasant attitude so bad towards new customers to make someone never want to return. Even after entering despite the extreme attitude at the door, the atmosphere did not warrant the price of admission even in a Friday night after 11pm. Music was ok. The crowd was not. The drinks were basic. This place is a regrettable experience.
Kinda super difficult to get em to answer the phones here but otherwise a pretty cool bar my sister works here
Short Blonde bartender with a bunch of tattoos is one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. I tipped generously on our group drink order then asked for 1 shot right after. I didn’t tip on the shot because I had already given a nice tip on the drinks moments before. She started screaming at my friends and I telling us “we sit around and look pretty and never have to work a day in our lives” and that “we aren’t welcome at the bar”. I explained to her I had already given her a good tip on the prior tab and then she continued to scream at us and comment on our appearances. She was extremely out of line and I have never felt more uncomfortable.
Homophobic and discriminatory. The manger didnt allow two girls from our group because they were showing affection on the line to the bar. After the bouncer allowed our group to go inside, the manger saw our friends (who were both women) kissing on the line and blocked them from going inside with us with her arm. She stated they had enough even though we were all fully sober before entering. its literally 2023 and people like this shouldnt be allowed to have an ounce of power. would give a zero if it was possible!
I don’t recommend this place at all! Way too crowded. The bouncers are rude. I made the line twice to get in. They weren’t stamping at the moment. I had to step out of the bar to make a call and the bouncers were not letting me come back in ( they know who I was because I told them I was stepping out ) and were asking me to show my stamp and pay the entry fee when they know I was just in the bar!! There’s way better places in the area, don’t waste your time and money here.
Bartender yelled at my friend when she didn’t tip (it was a basic Moscow mule), and threw the water she ordered away, and told her coworker “she doesn’t tip,” in reference to my friend. Not cool and unnecessary!
This place is super cool on the weekends for people who like a lot of dance music and want a nice time doing that. The bartenders and patrons are super helpful. On the internet this is touted as a punk rock bar but from what Ive been told thats only Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. If you like top 40 and dance music go there on the weekends. If you want an AstroWorld situation go there on the weekends. People are shoving people are pushing the bar gets beyond capacity really fast. For a disabled person its a little tricky but as I said the staff and the bartenders are really helpful when you want to get in there on a mobility device otherwise prepare yourself for a few steps into the joint.
Only one bartender on a busy (Thurs) night last time I was there, but she was polite doing her best to keep up. Not her fault at all, but the bar should have been better staffed. It would also be nice if bartenders paid more attention to the ends of the bar instead mostly just serving customers in the center, but its somewhat understandable given the staffing level. Otherwise, no complaints.
My family and I sat here to eat as one of the places from vacation. The food was not only terrible, but terrible customer service. The manager told me to shut up because we didn’t tip. My sister couldn’t eat the food so she bought something else. The manager told us to get out because we can’t bring outside food and especially because we didn’t tip. My sister put her food away, but the alleged manager said “it’s common sense to not bring outside food”. I would agree if everyone else was eating outside food, but only 1 person out of five. The waitress was late to responding to our requests. She was unable to explain some of the choices that were presented to us. She then proceeded to tell the manager that we were rude to her because I asked where the burger was on my BLT sandwich. I have never been treated this way by any restaurant and I know it was because we were black. This experience was so ridiculous especially when the alleged manager starts screaming at you to get the “f” out. I don’t recommend this place to anybody especially if you’re a minority.
Stopped in on a Tuesday night. Cool bar with a Joe Strummer mural out front! Bartender was fantastic and very friendly and the music was cool—several Pixies tunes played while I was there.
The front door person straight snatched my water bottle during bag check, chucked it to the trash, and started yapping like what’s the big idea, huh? what do you think we sell here? mind you, this was a sealed yankees poland springs water bottledidn’t even go in and was already without my water, so I’d imagine it saved me from a worst nightmare in this place0/5
Went to this bar with my friends and had a negative experience with some people on the dance floor, but the general manager, Zoey took care of it right away and was so kind about everything. 10/10 customer service and the staff is amazing.
Decent bar, kind of a dive vibe. I would prefer for the price of their cocktails itd be a bit more artesenal or crafty, considering its also going to come in a plastic cup, the price should be a tad less. The staff were really pleasant, its what youd expect from a bar in East village.
Very rude manager named Zoey. The bar had fresh black paint on the restroom door, which then got on my coat and permanently damaged it. This happened to some friends of mine as well. In addition to this, you have to buy water here. Overall, my interactions with Zoey were terrible and she was very condescending and dismissive.
Great neighborhood spot. Mix of all types of people.Real bar with real vibes. They also have awesome music playing. Terrific staff. The downstairs garden is a little weird vibe to it but I guess it could be nice for a business meeting where nobody else can see or here you.IG@jarnold45
Went to this bar on July 14th night. One of the server took my full drink and threw it way … pretending he was cleaning … after asking to the nastiest manager ever to get my drink back she explained me that it is what it is and it’s called business …Her behavior was unacceptableI will never come back again and don’t recommend it at ALL !East village is full of cool bars … they will have no consideration for you !I would have give no stars if it was possible
I’ve never written a google review before but had to for this place. the blonde woman at the front was one of the rudest people i’ve ever met—dumped a drink all over my friend on purpose. when we confronted her for it she shrieked that we were all “86”ed and started taking flash photos and videos of us saying “86, 86, 86.” we talked to the security guard, tre, who laughed at us for complaining while the woman stood behind him mimicking us “crying.” she continued to take photos of us as we walked away so we took some of her. childish, rude, really weird power trip. never coming again, even if we were “allowed to.” don’t come here.
The woman with the short hair who calls herself a “manager” is the RUDEST person I have ever met and doesn’t deserve to have a job here. I have lived in nyc for 34 years and I have never experience anything like this, especially at a dump like this bar. We were out celebrating the end of the work week and we are special education teachers who have a very demanding and difficult job. My friend accidentally bumped into her and of course apologized but she wasn’t having it. She then saw a tortilla I had that we had used earlier for a tiktok challenge with our students ( i know lol) and she snatched it from me and then kicked me out immediately. We had been to many other bars before and it wasn’t an issue. She could have nicely asked me to throw it away and I would have but she was so rude and nasty. She needs to be fired because judging from the comments, she has done this before. Please don’t waste your time or money at this bar.
The woman/manager at the door is extremely rude and demeaning, perhaps one of the worst people I have ever met. Also the bars have the least professional serving staff Ive ever seen and they CHARGE YOU FOR WATER.
The restrooms are a bit too small for the amount of people that come here.I did love the classic films they showed on the televisions. Music was playing live at the back of the bar but crowd wasnt really moving much. Prices arent bad at all.Great dive bar for college crowd but not much else.
Horrible service. A hostess hit me in the face with a door and was unapologetic. I was with 9 other people and spent 4 hours at their sister bar. When we asked her to apologize, we were removed. The owner tried to buy us off with a round of drinks. We can buy our own! This is the East Village and we expect a community atmosphere. Will never return.
Mediocre bar with pretty over priced drinks for the neighborhood. A double tequila soda was $24 dollars with wells tequila. The beers were also pretty expensive, around 7 or 8 each. The staff was friendly enough but nothing exceptional. Wouldnt recommend going out here as a group.
Came here off a reccomendation as a decent punk bar. Its garbage now, bartenders were odd and the space felt empty. Also the fact they charge industry standard for drinks and add tax afterwards is odd, every bar ever works tax into the price rounding it out to qn even number. Greedy
Horrible. if I could give less than one star I would. The old lady with glasses at the door refused to help me with getting a refund when I had just walked in for less than 2 for minutes. She instead chose to call security who forced me and my friend out. Unprofessional. Racist. And bad service. Don’t go here.
They dont like disabled people.
1st review, Paid $10 cover, then $8 beer, and got kicked out 10 minutes in because they thought said beer was brought in from outside without letting me ask bartender for proof… had to leave behind my friend on his bday, also they tried to charge us $5 for tap water
Cant pour a beer. Refused to give me water. Major attitude from bartender. If your not a finance bro or tourist, skip this place -- you wont be welcome. Good music tho.
Ever walked into a business and you knew in your gut you shouldnt order but you do anyway? Well that was my experience. The staff is mediocre. The service was worse. And everyone seemed to be in their own worlds. I learned a valuable lesson. Trust your first instincts.
If I could give zero stars I would. My friend’s real ID was rejected even though they didn’t even have a scanner to prove it. Levi (the manager) was extremely rude to us. He put the ID in his pocket and told us to call the cops to get the ID back. The entire situation could’ve been handled so much better yet the attitude of the entire staff towards us was abhorrent. I expect better from a local east village bar. Disgusting.
No admittance after 3a on Saturday nights.
Not happy with Niagara. My roommates and I had been to the club multiple times. One of my roommates was accused of dining and dashing with absolutely no proof, when we were at home, in our apartment the night she “supposedly” got accused. We had not been to Niagara in five weeks, yet the bouncer and hostess were laughing in her face accusing her of dining and dashing the night before we showed up. We will not be back, it was one of the most embarrassing moments of our lives. My roommates and I have never, and will never, dine and dash at any restaurant or nightclub. Niagara employees are disrespectful, rude and have no respect for anyone.
The waiter is very rude and disrespectful. The manager only cares about how much you spend stay far away from this place if your black ! The food is terrible a waste of time and money . No type of customers service skills and if you don’t TIP the amount they feel they deserve it’s a problem . TIPS are not mandatory so they should show appreciation for any amount received. I read others comments on here and see many people have the same issue .
Dont have much to say about the bar itself, but get bouncers who actually know how to identify a real NJ ID/dont like to mess with young girls for their entertainment. I was held up outside of this bar for over 10 minutes because the bouncer believed my real ID was fake, meanwhile let in all my friends who also had new jersey IDs. Either the bouncer didnt know what a real ID looks like or he had a good time getting a reaction out of me. Either way not a good look for your bar.
Best place ever! If you have a family, make sure to go. The whole place is one big maze of arcades, but dont think its not for adults. There is a casino there, beautiful resturants and it can even be really romantic for a couple. Would definitely love to go back. I give the whole area a 6 star.
Pretty standard bar. Not a ton of personality and seating is really limited (they have two little two tops and the rest is seats at the bar). That configuration means its not a great place for a big group but decent enough spot to grab a beer when youre in the neighborhood.
I have never actual made plans to come here, but have been many times. Waiting for a table at Death and Company? PDT lose your reservation? Lost? Come on in and have a drink. Its a no frills sort of bar that gets a good crowd on Friday and Saturday night. Cant go wrong really, but there is nothing special about it.
I came in yesterday during the day and Charlotte made me the BEST martini!! She was so fun to chat with! Highly recommend.
I love this dump. It is a bare bones filthy dive but it is cool and comfortable. I have mainly come here for late afternoon weekend day drinking, and it is never too crowded at that time. Everything is cheap. I have been once or twice later at night and a crowd can develop.
Okay place to go out and dance. They let it get a bit too crowded so I’d recommend going somewhere else.
Once you find out this is the venue that the try guy got caught at (allegedly) then you realize how iconic it actually is. Bring your friends from NYU and NJ/LI, they’ll love it!
My husband’s REAL driver’s license was rejected after the bartender twisted it a couple of times and mentioned it was “bubbly”. Mind you, this was after 10 minutes of standing there while the bartender was chatting with customers. Terrible way to declare an ID fake if you don’t have a scanner to prove it. Very poor dealing with customers!!!
Classic East Village bar and staple. Dive bar with solid drinks and they also are a classic punk rock establishment with bands on occasion and dancing on weekends. Worth a visit to this institution!
Racist and incredibly rude bouncers. Got in without a cover, left and tried to go back in to get my jacket and they asked for $10 cover. Beyond egregious actions from the bouncers. Never come here
Went to the bar and they said they had enough people and that we were too young despite being 23. proceeded to let multiple people in right after we walked away. avoid giving them any money bc clearly they don’t want it
Drinks and bartender great. The wannabe coat check guy that crushed my computer and then said sorry for the inconvenience I’ve told them not to put your coats and backpags ON THE HANGERS in the back... and then decided to put everything on a pile... then went ahead and moved the furniture crashing onto our bags that were further away from his wannabe dj/coat check (FYI) area and then proceeded to tell me in an angry uncomfortable voice that it was my fault and his inconvenience.......
I’m clearly not alone in my review of the female bartender at this place. Most unwelcoming person I’ve ever met, I would advise a career change for her.
Female bartender was very rude.
If youd like to go to a bar with a club in the back room and a bunch of yuppies, this is your place. Everyone was drinking beer, the music was terrible, all the patrons were white and couldnt dance, but above all, EVERYONE looked like they just got off of work. If thats your scene, cool, but Niagara is in no way a good place to go unless youre absolutely hammered.
My 2 friends and I came here to relax after work and we were repeatedly asked to move tables because we weren’t spending enough money… on a weekday. Definitely were disappointed and won’t be coming back to this location (or recommending again)
Terrible experience at this bar. The management is incredibly rude to customers. I recommend you visit any other bar aside from this one. This will be my last time visiting.
It is by far one of the best experiences my wife and I have had in this post Covid new world. Anybody that wants to show their love ones a good time this is the place to go just make sure you go during the weekdays Friday through Sunday can be very hectic
Went out with friends for a good time at this bar, bartender was rude and clearly not having a good. seemed like the people that work here hate this place too. Would never go there again!!
The woman who served me 5 years ago was a nasty white lady who I complained about her service and I spoke to her boss about how she charge me $10 and I have not sign their copy of the receipt bill. WONT EVER GO THERE AGAIN!
Disrespectful staff that yell at you for no reason. Walked ‘too close’ to the rope at the bar and had a bartender grab me to scream at me.
Way too crowded of a place. Its a dive bar and is pretty small and tight. The dance floor and photo booth are fun, but there are better places in the East Village.
Spent $100 on drinks and the bar tender wouldn’t give me a cup of tap water. I smell garbage.Besides toxic staff, music is bad. Avoid
The drink selection maybe average but I love the black and white tiled floor, the vintage music videos on the TV’s and the corner location where you can just watch the people walk by.
Racist and aggressive bouncers. Avoid avoid avoid.
My whole entire handbag was stolen and my good friend who was with me had her phone stolen on the same night. The bartender and bar back seemed like they cared and tried to help but the bouncer was useless. DO NOT GO HERE
Niagara is my go-to place for fun, laid back dancing on a Friday or Saturday night. I used to live a few blocks down the street, and my friends and I would end up here just about every other weekend, be it for a quick drink before heading elsewhere, or to kick off our shoes and dance in the back room. The staff is pretty decent, everyone dances to Shout!, and theres a photo booth. Youre guaranteed to have some fun here!
Bartender wanted 4$ for water. Was incredibly rude. Doesn’t deserve business from a normal clientele. Gross, upsetting and unnecessary.
Great place but they charged me twice...really scammy
Abusive staff. Told our table that we hadnt spent enough money to stay after we racked up a $150 bill in 45 minutes. The manager swore at members of our group.
**Waiting for Niagara to reply my email** will rate again after I get a response:Out of my best intention I would respectfully share with you a really unpleasant experience with one of the bouncer while trying to enter your bar tonight.I am a 27 year old Software Engineer at xxxx living in New York.Tonight, as usual, my two friends and I disposed ourselves to go to Niagara. We usually start our night at Yuca and around 1:30 AM we cross the street to Niagara. This time we tried to enter Niagara earlier (around midnight). When we arrived at the door, for my surprise, we observed there was no bouncer at the door. The only person we saw standing by was a 25-35 year old male wearing a hat who was chatting with some ladies and using his phone. I was with my passport in hand but the person didnt pay attention to us at all. We started entering the bar, and when my the last of my friends was crossing the door the person who I just described started to yell at us and ask us to leave the place immediately. This didnt happen when me (the first of the group) crossed the entrance and open the second door, neither when my friend following me did so, but when the third and last person in my group was entering. The now recognized bouncer (who, as I described before, was minding his own business on his phone and chatting with this ladies on the side) started to yell at us get out of the bar immediately. My friends and I were really surprised of this reaction. I explained the bouncer what happened -- we were heading to the door and thought the bouncer was just a cool dude trying to pick up girls. I am a regular customer of the bar and every time I am checked ID, but this night after seeing the person standing at the door we thought maybe the bouncer is standing in the inside of the door for ID check.Despite my reiterated intents of trying to explain to the bouncer what just happened, he just showed no intention to cooperate, insisting on (and I quote literal words from the bouncer) leave now and try other night dude, not tonight dude... go away.If you ask me, looked like the bouncer was just trying to look for a fight, or appear to be a person of power at his own bias judgment. I tried to calm us all down, start over with what happened, but the pedantic attitude we kept having form the bouncer made us leave.I will not make judgement about this single night experience about Niagara, but I am certainly sure the bouncer was absolutely unprofessional and I ask you to intervene and put this person in place. I was holding a foreigner passport on my hand, I speak with an accent, but despite my efforts to make this person think over what was happening I kept getting the same phrase in a pedantic accent not tonight bro, go away.I am reachable at +xxxxxxxxxx if you would like to discuss further details about this encounter.Looking forward to hear from you.
Atmosphere/layout*Dive/punk bar vibe, 10 seat bar, two TVs, music played over speakers, DJ booth, back room for bands, comedians, and other performersService*FriendlyFood/drink*Beer and a shot special (Miller High Life and a well brand)*Small food menu (burger, nachos, etc)
There is an extremely rude lady named Zoe running the door. She is unqualified for any role having to do with hospitality.
Must see .. them good eats. ... there. Amazing band. The booking agent is everything you expect in the village. Great guy with taste for sound and crowd
Worst bartenders I’ve ever had to deal with. Very rude. Especially the one with tattoos on her arms.
On some article is best hook up bar in America. Has a photo booth in the back. 2 for 1 happy hour till 8 every night.
On an active corner of East Village. Tiny food portions. Had a draft beer for $8 (Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner.) Waitresses were friendly and wore masks.
Typical East Village bar. Conveniently located on the corner of 7th and A, this bar is a frequent place for people to meet up before the night out since you cant really miss it. Nothing special about this bar, and its sad that it lost the basement floor that was around a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, the basement was separated and converted into Cabin Down Below and Niagra was left without a place to host live bands as it used to.
Fairly average drink selection, pretty good food, occasionally sticky. My favourite bar in the world. Theres just something about it.
Don’t go here, the old lady working is probably one of the worst people I’ve ever encountered
Come here late at night if you are interested in dancing! Sure, many of the patrons are on the younger side, but dancing is far too hard to find in NYC. Average bar prices as well.
They got new owners and now they act like they’re some high class prestigious members only club
Usually enjoy Niagara, but unfortunately tonight we were turned away at 24 because the male server couldn’t figure out our out of state IDs. Went to Bull McCabes instead. Probably won’t go back to Niagara.
Good for a night out to drink but when turned into a club, they played Olivia Rodrigo… was expecting a more club scene
Great dive bar. 2-4-1 happy hour until 8. The club in the back gets a bit grimy at night. It also gets overly packed.
Im WAY too old for this place so my opinion proabably is irrelevant. The art movies on showing on the TVs are interesting to say the least. Bartender was great.
There is a comedy show and open mic run by Steve Girard...fuuny guy...every Saturday at 6The bartender is nice ...the bar is filled with lost souls who talk loud but they seem nice enough
Niagara was great. The vibe was fantastic and the music played was my type meaning early 2000s and late 1990s music
Great vibes, quality bar bites and well made drinks
I dont think I like this place. Im not sure how or why I keep finding myself here. It gets way too crowded, and the crowd is meh. I also seem to remember not being fond of the staff, but I wont hold that against them since I cant remember what state of mind I was in.
Arguably, worst service in NYC. The manager is very rude and punishes clients for expressing discontent with service, especially when he is responsible. No idea how good their drinks are
While it’s a fun place to dance to some good music, it is way too crowded, and it’s hard to move around. A friend and I both had our phones stolen in the same night.
Still great and much the same since my first visit back in 2008. The Saint Joe Strummer mural is still there. The Future Is Unwritten. Know Your Rights.
The place has the worst security of all. They did not help us and were very prejudiced, even after we reasoned with them.
I would be very concerned coming here, fights break out, women get knocked to the ground and no one does anything about it. Staff and security doesn’t care what happens to you here. Beware.
Great dancefloor and a great vibe on the weekends. Go early, before 11, on weekends to get a chance to have a little bit of breathing room because this place gets insanely packed late night
These employees literally hate their customers. Imagine you invited your least favorite person to drinks and they were running the bar
Definitely a dive. But the bartenders are nice, and the drinks are cheap. Especially if you go during happy hour.
They took my actual Government ID, said it was fake and wouldn’t give it back. Not worth the hustle.
I have ordered a whisky sour and I got some lemonade with alkohol. Do not recommend
Pee Wees playhouse was on when we were there. Hardly anyone knew Pee Wees playhouse. Im getting too old. Five stars.
Ordered a vodka sprite, The bartenders literally gave me water. All the bartenders do not treat you with respect
One of the worst bars in Manhattan. Their drinks are just pathetic and artifical
Just wanted to point out that this place is accessible. Ramps are available, and the bar is willing to help any disabled customers.
Very intoxicated young man in a sailor hat sat next to me. Very smelly
Come here to get drunk and dance, nothing else. They sometimes do Improv here for Dirty Little Secrets and that’s also a great time!
Fun bar that fills up on the weekends. Mostly a college/post-college scene. Also contains some expensive doodles from artist Yoshitomo Nara.
PHONE AND WALLET STOLEN AND THE MANAGERS DO NOTHING
If you are looking for an establishment that charges $5 for a cup of soda water this is the place to go!!!
Best bar to go to for happy hour and Im comfortable there then most other bars recommend you go there
Great music choice, good for dancing, but totally packed on the weekends. Mostly a place for young people and singles.
Great place to come during the week (it gets super crowded during the weekends) for happy hour. Our favorite part: the photobooth!
No food available but they do have a good beer selection and comedy on Friday nights
Good place to catch bands. Also, they have free stand up each Saturday night.
I loved the vibe here! The bartender was awesome and the other patrons were lovely!
Meh. It could be so much better but everything about it is just the worst vibes
Place just had a douchey Chad and Becky vibe to it. Too loud, too crowded, and just bad energy.
Decent bar but it gets very packed and can be hard to navigate/hear during the weekend.
Terrible noise making trashy hangout...Usually attracts YUPPIE SCUM who only care about themselves and scream and smoke grass all night and are serving minors as well...
Decent music, very poor practices with respect to people management. Very chaotic.
True East Village staple. Cheap dranks, tiny stage for to rock on and a lil do booth to rave from. No pretension.
Excelente party, good music, good drinks, will come back !
Lovers of Today used to have a great happy hour for cocktails. When did that go away?
I gave the bartender $50 for a drink and was refused change then asked to leave the bar
It was a 90 degree day plus humidity and there was no a/c and a packed dance floor..... nasty I don’t recommend
I dont think they serve food here but they serve alcohol and have some good live music - so if thats what you want, without pretentiousness, go here.
There is a woman there that is so concerned with herself that she is a problem with the customers
My old fashioned could have been better. No orange peel or cherry at the time. It was alright.
Great place to come hang out with friends , grab few Drinks & dance to some good Music !!! Lovely Place ! Snap @ALOUi1
Sunday night, drinking beer, good music, Chris is a great bartender, and freshly popped corn!
Wonderful drinks and staff! Only downfall was the burnt grilled cheese.
My go to bar on the lower east side. If youre into the 80s punk/alternative music scene, you will love it!
Niagara, great service and great person. 100% recommend over all competitors. She is going for the stars
Quiet on Tues & Weds, it’s a cool place to hang out though, very friendly bartenders and staff ~
If you accidentally leave your jacket the staff will take it home as their own. So rude.
Love this place like my many lovers plus the bar love is around the back and downstairs. A must
Im glad this place is open again. Theyve been great! Weve been going back every weekend
Extremely rude staff. Will not be giving them business ever again.
Went for the Over the Barrel comedy show on Saturdays. It was a tough crowd but I can tell it has a lot of potential.
Awful service. Charged me for a drink. Did not ask for
Awesome time as always and great outdoor setup. Levy was a great host
Terrible. Staff dumped black pepper all over my take out because I complained of the waiter being EXTRMELEY Rude in the first place.
Terrible experience with the doorman. Not sure when this place became pretentious.
Cheap drinks and 90s-2000s indie playlist on forever repeat. What more do you want?
Yes, the staff was rude, and yes, they charge for water.
Great club with a great music history
Rude and nasty staff me and my friend was assaulted by three people they force pushed us out and began assaulting us down the street there gonna get sued
A Dive bar with friendly service and a $4 pint for happy hour. Yup, that works for me.
Great for dancing and great playlists if you like 70s and 90s throwbacks.
Always a good spot in the EV to pop into for a quick drink, or to people watch for a bit.
Lots of good shows and live events. The staff is amazing.
Chill Rock and Roll haunt in the East Village. Great happy hour prices and cool bar tenders.
Bathrooms are not gender neutral which i did not appreciate at all.
Your normal bar. They do have a decent dance floor in the back though.
They kick you out aggressively if you take your time ordering
Hip, cool bar with a cool stage. Not cheap but that makes sense, its in an expensive neighborhood.
A bouncer charged into the bathroom. Grabbed my friends throat & broke the sink. True story
Good college dive bar. Fun vibe, great music, fun crowd.
Cool club...now with live bands. Historic place for Punk music!
Absolutely horrible customer service the employees walk around looking confused and when you try to ask them a question they snap back in a rude way as if you was there asking for free food HORRIBLE do not waste your time PERIOD!!!
I havent been but it looks like the one thats standing out there that young lady I sure like to try
Its fun here, but in weekends it gets super packed.
Historic Landmark for NYHC. Must go if you are part of the underground scene.
