A must see if your a Blues Fan!! This place is tucked in the Greenwich Village of New York. Loved the vibe, service and atmosphere. Our server, Crystal, was amazing with suggestions if sites to see and her fav eateries.Definitely a return visit is in order.Music was amazing with top notch musicians. A must see!
You can’t have a bad time at an amazing live blues venue with your name! Even if your name isn’t Terra Blue, it had an extremely intimate atmosphere, great cocktails, and some of the best blues musicians I have ever seen (and I’ve seen quite a few over the years). Even if you aren’t really into blues music or haven’t even heard much to know if you like it, do yourself a favor and experience this place. You won’t leave going “Meh”. You will leave understanding the emotional power and longevity of Blues Music.
A gem! BRING CASH for the cover and the tip buckets for the talent! Cards are good for drinks, snacks, etc. Highly recommended for jazz lovers. Warm vibe, friendly service and lots of table seating upfront, alongside the bar and along the window (though far from the stage)Arrive early and stay late! Use your ticket to come back if you leave. We arrived early Sat nite for the first set, left for a bite to eat (no food here), then came back early enough to find seats for the set at 10p. Will be back!
LOVE THIS PLACE! I GO THERE WITH MY FAMILY, VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY. THEY HAVE GREAT SHOWS AND ON MONDAYS, AN OPEN MIC THAT YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR. I SIGNED UP TOO LATE TO GET ON STAGE BEFORE I LEFT BUT AT LEAST WE ALL HAD FUN AND MY DAUGHTER ENJOYED HER WINE. MY GRANDSON EVEN GET OFF HIS CELL PHONE TO HEAR THE MUSIC ON STAGE LOL
The place is small, intimate, you are very close to the musicians and it sounds good. The musicians are first class. In our case we had two hall of famers and a Grammy nominee. Unfortunately there is no food, you have to eat outside, before or after. And the wine... we had a bad California white, and a very bad California red. Definitely better to drink whiskey or beer. The service is excellent. We went on Monday and paid $10 for a ticket, plus beverage and musicians gratitude.
A relaxing spot to listen to some good blues music while enjoying an overwhelmingly large selection of whiskeys. Great spot for a date or if youre just visiting NY and looking for a great experience and a chance to escape the fast-paced city for a little while.Note: cash only for the cover, so swing by an ATM before you go. Also during the early solo set, excessive conversation is generally discouraged, so if youre in a chatty mood, wait until slightly later in the evening and then enjoy. But definitely go enjoy at some point.
If you are looking for the best jazz experience in New York, go to this place! Hands down the best show put.The sets start after 8pm and goes until 3am. They have different artists each day each week. There is a $20 cover charge, cash only.Only drinks, no food. Cocktails are nice, range between $13-$18 and they have a large selection of bourbon 🥃 and organic whiskeys. They have a full bar but a small cocktail menu, so you can get whatever you want.
Nice spot that can have some pretty great music. Like any venue, some acts will be better than others, but Ive always had a good time and have enjoyed the other guests (sometimes theres some dancing which is always fun). Look up whos playing and swing by if you need a little blues fix in this jazz town.
Excellent blues night experience. 20 dollar entrance only cash if you go early and listen both of the bands. The service is very good.
So good to go back after 2020, (only now we could find time to go to NYC again). Took the family, and it only got better! Great staff, the band was amazing, anyway, Terra Blues remains as my favorite spot for good drinks and the best blues in the city
Intimate, the band were great too and the old fashions were excellent. Theres $20 cash only entry fee which is well worth it. I went 9:30 and still got seats at the back, after that the place filled out.
My favorite place. Live music 7 days a week! They dont serve food, but right downstairs is a restaraunt tht stays open pretty late, they have the best wings and fries. The guys who work there are the coolest. Drinks are great, service is awesome.
Came down from Boston to see a band. Club was great, band was great. Only knocked the food because they dont have more than nuts, but you dont go to a club like this for food. Id certainly recommend.
Great ambience and wonderful music. As the name suggests, they play blues. The performers are top notch. The attending staff are very friendly and welcoming. They served us coffee even though it was late night Friday. They didnt charge for the coffee as well. I highly recommend this place for its vibe, music and professional management. The performers were too good and engaged the crowd with their light, friendly banter in between performances.
A blues bar! I love this place. Great live music.I have been there 2 times and will be going again. $20 cover per person.
Wonderful evening at Terra Blues on Sunday. Superb venue, two great acts. Sensational whiskey selection, delightful service. Highly recommended.
Really good place for music and drinks. Okay we came here a little bit early before the main set. But it was still very good amazing choice of hundreds of whiskeys. You pay a $10 cover to enter. From seven till eight 830 we listen to an acoustic set first. Overall good place to be. Will definitely come back for the 10 PM show which will be a lot more exciting.
I had a fantastic time at this cozy and authentic bar. The atmosphere was truly awesome, and the live band was exceptional, singing from the soul. However, it can get quite crowded on Saturday nights, so make sure to arrive early to secure a spot. My only wish is that they offered a wider variety of appetizers; they only had nuts. On the bright side, the cocktails were delicious, and the prices were affordable. The only downside was the $20 entrance fee. Overall, it was a memorable night with great music and a vibrant ambiance.
The place only accepts cash. We don’t live in the US and non of the ATMs outside accepted our credit cards. We had literally 39 out of the 40 dollars required. The register inside also didnt accept contactless pay so nothing we could do but leave the place.
The house band is spectacular. One of the greatest live music spots in New York City.
A Shaman offered me a camero. I declined. He counter with a young man’s Harley. I declined. Enjoyed the music and had a great time.
Had a great time at Terra Blues on Saturday night. We saw SaRon Crenshaw and his band. It was my first time seeing Mr. Crenshaw and he did not disappoint! He knows his craft and the band is very tight...best $20 bucks Ive spent in a while!Thank you to the band and the staff who were very friendly and attentive. I will be back for more!
A true NYC institution. Great live blues music, huge whisky list and drafts. The performers here never disappoint.
Great vibe for amazing blues. Just walk in and all the bands are filled with great musicians. My go to whenever Im in the village.
One of the coolest bars I have ever visited! Such an amazing vibe - exactly what a blues bar should be like. The musicians are also so talented. Was absolutely transfixed by Samoa Wilson. If you make a reservation you can get a table front and centre - highly recommended because I does get busy. Just don’t forget cash for the musician’s tip buckets! Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in New York!
It is not possible to pay by card for the show, you must have cash..You cannot pay with Google pay for the drinks, you have to pay cash or a physical card.In the entrance theres a very very very unfriendly old man who told me I cannot go inside with a little pizza and later I saw a guy with a pizza in another table..I expected for a better treatment. Will not come back
Fantastic venue for blues music and whiskey. The space is intimate but not crowded and the sound quality is exceptional. The staff were nice and, while there was a 2 drink minimum per person rule on the menu, did not pressure our table into ordering more drinks at any time. The selection of whiskey was one of the best Ive seen and the pours werent small. Most of the bourbons were $10-$15 which is reasonable compared to other places. Would highly, highly recommend to any music/whiskey fan.
Absolutely the best !!! It’s my go to place if I want great music , happy ppl and to dance !!They always have great musicians. I never even look at the calendar, I just pop in and never been disappointed. Highly recommend if you are a jazz lover
Awesome service and really great music. Ill be back on my next visit to NYC without a doubt. It would be hard to get better value for your $20 cover charge!!
Awesome atmosphere! Really cool vibes, cozy place, the staff is friendly and helpful. If you are into whisky or bourbon you will have a plethora of choice. The music was absolutely brilliant, the sound was good (not too loud and great quality). Definitely recommend the place if you like blues. One of the best Blues bar I have been to so far.
Wonderful Bluse bar, 2 live shows everyday, I love this place !!
Luvd it! Make sure you bring your VaccCard for entry, hit the ATM for cash to tip the live band/entertainment. Parking on the street if you can find it about a block or two away.No food only a huge selection of whiskeyz, liquorz and beer.IGAVE it 4 starz because they dont have any other way of tipping the entertainment! And no snackz.
A real jam in NY. The stuff is super energetic, fun and welcoming. Amazing artists come to play live and reasonably priced drinks.I visit this place every time Im in NYC, and will keep doing so :)
I went there last week Dec 6th and my tab was $130 and some change. I left a cash tip and now my cc transaction is more than what i signed for.$150 exactly. The server was rude to begin with. I would try to get her attention and she would walk away. I tried one more time and tapped her shoulder and she looked at me and rolled her eyes. The music was great but service was terrible. I tried calling and no one answers the phone for 2 days. I finally get a response and they send me to an email address which I’ve yet to receive a response from
We were there last night and it was jumping. We listened to a Blues band and they were wicked good. The bartender rocked the drinks and the ambiance was SINsational!
I visited this place on Sunday evening when Junior Mack (Grammy Nominee) was playing with his band. It was 20 dollars in, but you can come and go as you wish (in case you need to get something to eat for example) and it was really worth the money. The music and the band were amazing and I really enjoyed the overall show! Also the service here was great. The girl serving the tables did an excellent job. Her whiskey recommendation was on point. Also this was one of the few places that I visited in NYC where the waitresses really smiled and had some conversation with customers. One of the waitresses was for example concerned about my leather jacket because it was raining.Overall the service, music and drinks here are good, and I can warmly recommend this place to everyone who enjoys live (blues) music.
Very nice blues bar, good performers, nice staff. Really do recommend. About 20 usd entry on friday evening.
Amazing venue, cosy, candle lit with great sound. Got in at 9 to watch the amazing Saron Crenshaw play followed by Spady and band. Cover charge of $10 is all you pay, whether you sit through one set or the whole night.Great selection of booze, reasonably priced. Most beers between $8-10. They do not serve food!Good crowd and good service. Must visit if you are a Blues fan.For reservations, just mail them, details on the site.
Nice performers, drinks, and great service. If you get the whiskey flight be warned that the olives are a bit of a joke.
$20 entrance fee eachGood feelingGood jazz music showRelax and enjoy
If you can’t make it to Beale Street, Memphis, this is the next best thing. In fact, even better. Amazing artists and ambience. Shout out to the waitresses, they do a good job slithering through tight spaces and serving you drinks and plenty of water.
The live music was well worth the $20 entrance fee. It felt very intimate being close to the band, I just wish we could have stayed longer. Great place to hang out.
We saw SaRon Crenshaw. He played an Awesome show! Great bourbon and whiskey choices.
This is one of the coolest places that I’ve been to! I love blues music and coming from Toronto, where we don’t have a dedicated bar, this place was special. The staff are great and they have a wonderful selection of cognac. I would definitely recommend this place and I’ll definitely be returning every time I visit NYC.
We had an amazing night there with my friend. The entrance was 20 per each, the bands were very good, especially saron creenshaw. We really appreciated the atmosphère and the staffs kindness.Don t forget to bring cash to tip the artists.
Awesome experience....amazing talent....great music. Hi Krystal 😘Im from Jamaica...will definitely be back when I visit NY again ....thank you for a memorable time👍
I LOVE THIS PLACE! THE MUSICIANS PUT ON A GREAT SHOW. ELLIS HOOKS IS LIKE THE NEW GODFATHER OF SOUL. ITS A COZY, INTIMATE SETTING BUT WITH A BIG CONCERT FEEL. THE MUSICIANS HAD SO MUCH ENERGY THAT IT RUBBED OFF ON US. WE WERE ALL CLAPPING ALONG WITH THE SONGS. THE STAFF ARE ALL VERY WELCOMING AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY HAVE RESERVATIONS FOR THOSE WHO DONT WANT TO SIT AT THE BAR. WALK-INS ARE WELCOME TOO. I SAT AT A TABLE CLOSEST TO THE STAGE. FUN WAS HAD BY ALL.
Great location! Was my first time there but definitely will go there again as soon as I’m back in nyc! 🙏🏽🫶🏽
This place rocks. I will go next time Im in town!
$10 entrance fee was totally worth it. Perfect service, tasty drinks with a huge variety of whiskey (also affordable) and great atmosphere. Live music was great. 10/10 would recommend, sometimes even 11/10.
The best most authentic live blues place in NYC. Been going there for 15 years and it never disappointed! Great atmosphere, great talent, and the stuff is always lovely.
Super great music, and very talented musicians! Whiskey collection is also very impressive. Cover seemed kind of high, but ultimately worth it. Lots of fun!
If youre in the area, dont sleep on Terra Blues. It doesnt get much better than this!
The Blues Band that night was terrific - The Pioneers!!!! The band played till 2am. I would definitely recommend this place. Great music!!! And they are open every day for live music!!
We were visiting from Toronto and we googled blues bar and this came up we went there and initially we felt this might not be the right place but after a while we really enjoyed our time here and the singer was engaging the audience and asking them where are they from and we ended up talking to almost everyone in the audience it felt like we all knew each other’s and laughed a lot and had really good time .. this place is highly recommendedMore suitable for mature audience 25+ I would say not high schoolers for sure
The last remaining jazz blues bar in the area....great drink service. Ticket prices are worth it since youll get to stay and see all performances for that price. No drink minimum a big plus. Be prepared to get squeezed if you sitting at the cocktail tables and side lounges.
Solid place for jazz and blues with late shows. Chill vibe.
Atmospheric club, great music. Favorite place to spend Saturday night after a dinner.
Low, dim light setting, spacious venue with options for tables, bar or standing. located on second floor. The band were amazing, loved the blues notes they played.Drinks were little pricey, and there is an entry coverage (20 $) cash only.No videos or photos allowed
I hope Terra Blues will serve food as well soon, but for now, drinks and live music are enough! My family and I went there last week and are planning on going back regularly because we enjoyed the performance (9 pm to 1 am!) The cocktails were great and the ambiance was lively. Regulars said they have different artists each day, so we’re excited!
I’m surprised the reviews are so good…. Must be tourists. $20 cover for a mediocre band and from what I’ve been told by musicians who’ve played here, the bands are terribly underpaid. $17 cocktails, and they’re okay but I’ve had better quality whiskey, and considering its a whiskey bar, they should be able to make a decent whiskey cocktail. Bartender punk-looking girl with the hat is nice. Other girl was rude and made a terrible cocktail. Overall tourist trap.
$20 cover, worth every penny for some awesome blues. Junior Mack was amazing. Intimate venue, gets pretty full as the night progresses. Crystal is super helpful and provided amazing service.
Don’t go here. You have to pay 20 just to get in and then we tipped $5 for $32 worth of drinks and the bartender followed us for an extra $1 tip for some slow service, it took forever to get those drinks. Bartenders are insane dontcome here.
Great place to listen to the finest blues bands in NYC!The bands are fantastic and so the serviceThe variety of whiskies, ryes, bourbons and moonshines is endless and well balanced.Visit this place at least once in your lifetime, youll enjoy it!
Had an amazing experience here - sitting was sparse at the beginning but became available later in the night.
Such a classic live music spot and a nyc staple
One of my all-time favorite live blues clubs in the city. Sat front row for a late-night set and everything from the music, the atmosphere and the intimate seating made the entire experience one of my best memories in NYC. SaRon Crenshaw never disappoints, but Id go back to see any of their headliners. This place knows how to do live blues.
Love, love, love this place. Fantastic music and drinks. They have a cover of $20 per person at the door, but what decent Jazz bar doesnt. Must visit if you like Jazz or if you want to experience what a jazz bar should be. Its packed for Friday and Saturday nights. If you go at 9.30pm, you should be able to get decent seats for the 10pm set.
Great authentic venue. High quality musicians, and excellent choice to hear some really good blues music. The drinks were reasonably priced and the service was good too!
I was in NYC for a week and spent 2 nights at Terras Blues. Jordan and Sarah behind the bar were brilliant, Scott, the manager, so welcoming and the musicianship was awesome. I was moved by the World Trade Centre museum and loved the Top of the Rock, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, the Guggenheim, the Met, High Line and much else, but the thing that would bring me back to NYC again and again would be the prospect of another night or two at Terra Blues! Just treat yourself.
Went to this place for the first time. We walked up the stairs only to be approached by a completely drunk guy that couldnt stand straight, or look you in the eye because of the level of inebriation. He proceeds to say that the cover is $20 per person CASH, no card for us, but we watched a couple in front of us get told that ladies are free, and would only be $20 for them. They werent happy with the cover charge either, and turned back down the stairs and left. He then drunkenly said that he would make an exception and take my card for the cover charge, we happily declined, and tried to tell him that we just heard him tell the other couple that ladies are free, and only $20. It seemed strange that their would be a cover, as the clubs right next door are not charging to get in, and they have live music as well. Secondly, I was a bit hesitant to give $40 to some random drunk guy asking for money at the front door, as he didnt really seem like an official employee, manager, promoter, or owner, and if he actually was someone representing your bar, its a pretty sad situation to see someone that intoxicated on the job. I asked him, Would you rather have no money, instead of some money? He seemed more than happy to receive no money, and turn away business for the bar instead of letting us in for the price he told the previous couple. We ended up going to The Red Lion instead. No cover charge, and they happened to have a full bar, as opposed to your establishment that was empty.
As a big classic rock and blues fan, Terra Blues was one of my favorite live music venues in NY. There is always a great line-up for both shows, and the performers cover famous blues standards you wouldn’t otherwise get to hear. Love the laid-back vibe and amazing energy from the crowd. Huge selection of whiskey and bourbon too.
I came here with my Afro American friend, the guy at the front ID, while he hesitated with our IDs my friend recalls him looking dead into his eyes and not even looking into his ID. The guy at the front returned our IDs and said I dont feel comfortable with the IDs We asked him what the problem was (its not expired) and he didnt say anything. I left in disgust of the RACISM we experienced there for there were no problems with our IDs we just came from another bar. DONT COME HERE IF YOU BELIEVE BLM.
Best music!!!! Unfortunately no pictures aloud
What an absolutely fantastic place to spend an evening. An absolute blast. The bartender was extremely nice and very pleasant, it was great talking to her. Music was great too, nice and loud, I caught the late set (no cover that late). Loved the ambiance, its tough to find a club so dark in the city these days. Either way, somewhere I cannot wait to come back!
After a long day, we entered Terra Blues at 8 with little energy left. We made up our mind to get back home after the first act BUT Clarence Spady blew our mind with his music, we decided to stay. It was followed by Jimmi Hendrix tribute show by Junior Mack, Wayne Livingston and band. They were brilliant and such musical wizards. We had the best night ever. This is *the* place for blues music. We ended up stayed up staying until 1. The ambience is very intimate with low lighting and candles and the waiting staff were super chill. Must must visit blues venue in NYC .
Went for a show last night. The Michael powers frequency band was playing. Show was awesome. Great atmosphere, and solid service. Intimate setting and was able to sit right next to the stage. Would definitely recommend going for a show, even if you dont know the band the atmosphere is worth it
Great intimate venue to enjoy the blues. Big concert halls are fine but this small, up close feel is the way music should be felt.. Great drinks and waitstaff. Was entertained by Saron Crenshaw, catch him if you can. His version of the thrill is gone and night life are show stoppers. Will definitely visit again!
Awesome blues bar down in the village. Great atmosphere, friendly bartender and really good music! Cover charge a little steep at $20 per person but the we did have a really good time here and the musicians were outstanding. Well be back.
Best live music bar in NYC in my opinion. Great atmosphere and the acts are always good. Its a great place to just grab a whiskey and chill to some good music and forget your day. Also would be a nice date venue. Would highly recommend
This bar is nice and have good music. People working in there are nice. They dont have good beers. The musicians can be seen well from all parts of the bar.
Super friendly and warm place. Came on a rainy Monday night at 630pm and the bad had plenty of room. The draft beers were 6-8 dollars and were average selection. The music was top notch jazz and blues. I would most definitely come back here. It was exactly what I needed to soothe my soul! Thanks for a good time.
What can I say about this legendary blues club that hasnt already been said? If you want to see the blues in New York City, this is the place.2 acts a night with a rotating cast of characters that know how to put on a show. Huge selection of whiskey, solid cocktails, and great bartenders and servers. Cover might seem steep at $20 a head, but youve paid more for less, trust me. Hard to go wrong here.
Music was amazing, as was service. Cocktails were delicious. Very busy on a Saturday night.
Great venue for music. The lead singer I saw even sang off mic on the floor and it didnt seem to matter. Bartenders are all super cute and friendly. Good mix of seating at tables and the bar. Definitely will go again and you should if you like blues and cute bartenders. Who doesnt? Communists.
Great music and atmosphere! Very small place and a little dark inside. better to be earlier to have a good seat. Good drinks and better to come here with fully belly couse nothing to eat. Usually 20 dollars for entry. Stuff very friendly. Everyday new bands. Best place for blues lovers. Around few similar places worth to go.
Every time I visited NYC Terra Blues was always the place for my night-time entertainment. As a blues lover the performers were always varied and excellent. The bar staff were brilliant and attentive too. On my last trip I was there so often they thought I had moved in to the city and was now a resident. Sad to tell them I was a tourist and when they found out I was leaving the next day they bought me some drinks. Excellent place. My one downer - I never got to see Michael Hill live.
Great Blues place, filled with an amazing atmosphere, music and drinks. There are several bands that play every night, so you can hear different music in a single night.
TB its an amazing place to listen good blues. It has a fantastic atmosphere plus the music is high quality always. Its the only local in NY that you pay a very reasonable cover fee and you can listen to two concerts, the acoustic one at 7 pm and the band at 10 pm and they dont chase you for leaving. Check the daily schedule and plan to go! I highly recommend this place!
I and my friends had enjoyed 2 sets yesterday at Terra Blues. 1st set was SaRon Crenshaw and 2nd- Jr Mack Band. Both sets were beautiful, played well. The sound was just right, not too loud even though we sit upfront. Nice atmosphere. We really had a great time. Highly recommend, $20 cover charge is a plus too.Drinks are extra $.
The music was great, wonderful atmosphere
WOW! What a cool place to hang in NYC!!! - If you like live music, particularly the Blues, you must go to Terra Blues. It is incredible. The musicians are top notch professionals (really), the great service and huge choice of whiskeys make this place a-must-go-to. Oh, and did I say its only a small cover to get in. Usually only $10 for three sets of killer good music by killer good musicians......... ENJOY!!!
An incredibly memorable experience the first time I went. Though there is a $10 cover, as long as the band plays to your liking, you will have a great time...That is if you like more modern blues music, electric guitars or live music in general.Inside is a dark but cozy atmosphere, drinks moderately priced, seating is crammed but, as long as its not packed, it can make for quite an intimate date. The second time I went, I brought three friends but I wanted to quickly see what the inside venue was like and security reluctantly allowed me to take a free look. Thank God for that since not only was it packed, it was folk songs with a ukulele and we ran out of there as fast as you were being chased by lions.Looks like a hit or miss but 3 stars for the benefit of the doubt.
DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD TO THE WAITRESS THERE ! They lost mine and didn’t seem so sorry about it. Very unfortunate since the bar and the music was good..
This is one of NYC’s best blues music spots. Some amazing bands visit from out of town and the house band and regular lineup has some amazing musicians. When you want real guitar-driven blues, this is the place! The atmosphere is intimate and its common to see band members wandering the crowd while playing guitar. Well worth the visit. Some of the regular musicians are simply amazing. The scotch and whiskey menu will have something really nice for everyone. Not every blues spot has a great selection. This is done right. Take a friend or a date. This is one spot I am missing and can’t wait till the world reopens.
Music here has always been great. This is the place where you listen to Blues music. Sharon is a great singer and performer. He doesnt disappoint. The staff is also awesome and the $20 cover is so well worth it.
Chill doormen, fantastic bartending, and the musicians were top notch. A perfect atmosphere for my birthday weekend, I would recommend this to all who love an intimate space with good energy.
Long live the blues! This is an incredible way to spend an evening. With captivating performances and moderately-priced drinks, youll discover what entertainment meant to an older generation, and youll understand why those who reminisce on it do so with much affection. The $20 cover charge is worth the value. Get there about a half hour early to ensure you get a seat or spot at the bar.
Been there twice and liked the entertainment, but it is a small place with small tables and There is a cover charge to get in and a minimum amount of drinks you have to buy, though they dont seem to enforce that. They need to have some snack on the tables, this would probably increase their drink orders. Even if they had a small, reasonably priced menu with some appetizer type items, would be better (along with the table snacks).
This was the best evening of our stay! The atmosphere of the place gave all our attention to the performer. They have a great selection of whiskies. Little expensive. Book before going to be sure to have a table!
My favorite spot for night activity in the city. Life music experience their was awesome. Totally worth the 20$ cover charge.
One of My favorite blues/ jazz spots
Most Amazing blues music I have heard. Acoustics are super. Place is fantastic. Service is very good. Definitely one of the top places I have been around in the world. Every nyc visitor should stop by. I will be going again and again.
This is our second time at Terra Blues and I will say without a doubt best experience in NYC. We saw Jr Mack and Saron Crenshaw band, both were absolutely amazing!! One of a kind experience. From the service, music and incredible ambience...one of a kind experience!
In my recent visit to New York, I had an electrifying experience seeing the SaRon Crenshaw Band playing the blues from 10 pm until 3 am. Everything I could ask for as a blues lover, this place had it all. The service staff members were fantastic and the Manhattan was great too. I can confirm that the blues is alive and well here!
Incredible music and the largest best whiskey list I have ever seen. I am going to start keeping track and try and drink every single one. I think there is like 200 of them. Such an amazing place for drinks before dinner with the acoustic blues, or late night drinks when they tear down the house.
The largest liquor wall i have ever seen resides behind the bar! Quaint atmosphere featuring live blues music. This place will not disappoint for whiskey and blues lovers.
Dim lights, cozy atmosphere and extremely good blues musicians (and I dont say that lightly). SaRon Crenshaw was playing the night we went, and I absolutely fell in love with his playing style and voice. The only real downside is that it is a little bit expensive. You pay a 20$ cover + 8 $ per beer (at least two drinks per set, although the waitresses were not pushy at all in that sense) + tip for the musician and waitresses, if you feel like it. Consequently, you can easily spend more than 40$ for a one hour set, which is quite a lot, even considering the quality of the music. That being said, I believe that it is a place worth experiencing. If I lived in New York, I would become a regular for sure.
Had a great time at Terra Blues…the music was just out of the world…got in at around 7pm, stepped out for dinner and came back at 10 to stay till 1am…the music kept us thereThe whiskey choice was the required icing on the cake to make the evening memorable for us- my wife and I and a couple of our friendsA must do
Great location for live music and drinks. Low lights perfect for a dates w friends or solo. It’s a small place as well which makes it more personal.
$10 cover charge.Good music, wait staff, and atmosphere. We sat in far back of bar. Unfortunately a rude bouncer kept harassing one of the ladies we were with because she was speaking above a whisper in an acoustic set. We were 150 feet from stage in back of bar. I thought this was excessive. The bouncer just kept staring at our friend and made it unenjoyable for her.
Great place for drinks and good music. They bring great blues performers every day, so it is great for music lovers or tourists who want a NY music experience. Their bourbon list is excellent. No food though, so have dinner before.
Great Jazz place!!! Loved it!
One of the best live blues I’ve heard and strong drinks. Plus they allow in and out until 3am with a $20 cover, great value, would definitely recommend.
My so far worlds best blues club! They have the genius Saron Crenshaw twice a week! And they present a sort of cremedelacreme-mix of real bluesy artists - male, female and divers. Again: Im gonna move to New York, even if I have to walk!
This place is one of the most magical places Ive been too. Second only to a place called Inspiration Point on Canoe Island in the San Juan Islands. Every Thanksgiving they have a Jimi Hendrix tribute-band play and you can bet your bippy--they do Jimi justice. The ambiance of Terra Blues will transport you to a surreal atmosphere where you will not ever want to leave. Great music, great drinks, and soul invigorating-place. Go there or be square
Visiting every time I come to NYC. Good music, good atmosphere, and friendly staff.
$20 for entry. The standing area was very crowded and dark. Two men were grabbing my body for too long while passing through the crowd. The music is great though.
Upon entering a security person asked for ID, perfectly OK but scans it into some data base the Manager said it cant be deleted as I was not going to stay in a place a slippery slope to NYCCP style tracking and surveillance...of course he said it was for my safety and protection....heard that before, very dangerous rhetoric
Yes it was 20 bucks of the bat but well the local band was just super sweet. You might be sitting right next to some gangsters wanning to have achill night with some good music. Dont look anyfurther this is the place. Classic interieur, done by a real carpenter.
Since wandering into this joint a few months ago Ive been back numerous times. Everything is great about Terra Blues. The atmosphere is wonderful, the music is tremendous, and the service is great.Theres a $10 cover on Saturdays and if you get there for the early show that starts at 7, youll have your choice of seating. Oh - and theyll take a credit card for the cover. Excellent!Choose a seat on the side if you want to be able to talk (quietly!) with your friends. Choose a seat in the middle if you want to really get into the music. The bar is extensive but a bit expensive. If youre into beer though, they serve Chimay Blue. Cant really beat excellent blues while sipping on a Chimay Blue in a great atmosphere - thats my ideal Saturday night. If you happen to pass by and see that the Clarence Spady Band is performing - make sure you go in. Theyre excellent!
Superb blues bar with high quality musicians and a great vibe. Theres often a cover charge around $10, but its well worth the money. Great cocktails too!
The house band is incredibly talented. Some even earned Grammys I was told. They played renditions of Jimi Hendrix that were simply beautiful! Great staff, the vibe of the people was great, no drama or annoying people, and if you wait around for a table at front, once a group of customers leave, you just squeeze in when you want. Awesome show, great customers, terrific staff... nothing but an awesome time all around.
Best blues!!! A must do, if you visit NYC!Kick back, an enjoy, the many varieties of whisky n Spirits. while enjoying the atmosphere “cool cats” vibe...It definitely screams the heart of Manhattan.
Other reviewers have it right, so I sound like an echo: lively music (always a packed house), extensive whiskey list, great experience. Prices are steep, but hey - its NYC. This will quickly become one of your go-to spots.
Really cool place to catch some live music. Service and drinks were good and the band was fun
This place always exceeds my expectations and more, always a good vibe, very intimate and personal and I truly love the live band !!!!! Arrive early for front row seats 🙌🏼
Great atmosphere, highly recommend 🎩✨
This is one of my favorite places in the world. Iiss it dearly now that I no longer live in NYC. Whenever I visit the city Im sure to stop in because the music is always great, the service is always good, and again, the music is the best. It is truly a go to venue regardless of your mood, you will leave happy.
What a great show in a great atmosphere! Saron gave us a memorable time.Would get back anytime.Drinks were really good too.Definitly 100% recommendable!
Terra Blues is not handicap friendly. I wanted to attend with a guest with a handicap who couldnt stand during the performance and required a seat reservation. Terra Blues could not offer me a seat after 7PM. Without a reservation I couldnt risk having my guest show up at Terra Blues and not have a seat available. The unfriendly staff at Terra Blues, however, was unsympathetic. As a result, we chose to attend another more handicap-friendly jazz establishment, and I would suggest that everyone else do the same.Replying to Owner:Terra Blues is certainly not a handicap friendly establishment and you should be ashamed of your response. It is not handicap friendly if after 7:30pm you accept walk-ins but dont provide chairs to handicapped walk-in customers. If you allow walk-in customers then you should be providing the necessary services to handicapped walk-in customers. Providing a chair to a handicapped customer is not the same as allowing reservations for other customers. Your establishment is despicable!!!
Great place to be solo, forget the world, have some Whiskey, and enjoy great music.
Great place, great live music. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to New York. The beer is a little bit pricey, but it was fully made up for by the fact that the musical entertainment was incredible.
A small charming place for live performances. Good acoustics, very friendly staff. If the tables would be any closer to the stage, youd be a part of the band. Very intimate.
Nice place with very good music and barkeepers who know exactly what youre craving for. The next time Im in NYC I will definitely visit this place again.
Terra Blues is one of the few clubs in NYC that is amazing space for music, has a great selection of booze, and retains an atmosphere that is, at its core, authentic New York City. There are very few places locals would unanimously agree is a great spot, and Terra Blues is no exception. From the outstanding musicians (with the occasional celebrity drop-in) to the excellent bartending and service, it remains a great place to have a drink, take a date, or simply relax and listen to some fantastic music.
Very good but... you take your time and reserve a table in advance. Romantic night, you know? Then, the waitress just spoils it by placing walk-ins at your table. So whats the point in making a reservation?
Not as hard to get into as Blue Note but definitely awesome. Small, dark place with a huuuuge selection of whisky and bourbon. $20 at the door (cash only) but they accept card when youre inside.
Great place to sip Bourbon and listen to the blues. However, I truly believe Terra Blues is haunted, Im very serious, my drink slid across the table and fell hard to the floor with a loud thump. I didnt know it was my drink that fell, thats how loud the thump was. I told the waitress, she said, yeah things like that happened here before. She believes its haunted too. I was sitting at the 2nd to last table in the center by the bar.
Always a good night. Good bands. Good vibe. Good service. As for the guy who said terrible beer selection...what is he looking for? an obscure craft beer from Grafton, WI. ? The beer selection is fine. Enjoy the music.
Worth the visit. Good atmosphere, not too large, but also not too small, endless list of bourbon to try out, would definitely come back. Strangely though, 80% of the visitors were tourists.
Great atmosphere that gets the crowd totally immersed in the beautiful sounds up on stage. The staff is cool and courteous. Wonderful time! And the whiskeys...just.so.many!
This place is a small joint, but it had some great artists. We got lucky and scored two seats in the front. The waitress came by regularly, and gave us water.
