TL/DR: Dont pay cash, or the bartender will double the price of your drinks. I didnt realize that until I ran out of cash and started using my card.My friend moved to NYC last year, so I am here visiting him. He took me out to Rebar, and I do like the bar. The music could be better, though. They have a DJ playing unremixed pop songs from over a decade ago. I dont know why they pay a DJ for that, but thats a moot point.What I am actually frustrated about is when we ordered our first drink, a vodka tonic, and a rum & coke, it came out to $36. I thought, wow, that seems expensive, but I chalked it up as we are in NYC. Then, we ordered our second drink; he said it would be $38. I thought, bro, why did it change $2? We didnt have enough cash, so I just pulled out my credit card to use. He came back, and the total with tip was around $22. I was puzzled but then pushed that thought aside so I could go back to dancing. Only when I woke up today did I see the situation for what it was. He was taking advantage of us. Any business that takes advantage of its customers deserves 1 star. Probably zero stars.I looked at other reviews from other websites and found a guy recently having a similar experience. That makes me suspect even more that the owner has an employee who rips off customers and pockets the difference. This must be a relatively new hire. The bar owner should take some action because hes stealing from the bar and damaging its reputation. I am saddened because I just read the owners bio on Yelp. Owning this bar is his dream, and someone is actively destroying it.

Came on a Wednesday, so I shouldnt have expected too much. But I got a drag queen over an hour and a half late on a week night (on several occasions), no drink specials despite the ad saying so, tiny overpriced drinks even for the area, and theyre playing meh music off YOUTUBE with terrible sound quality. Why did I pay cover plus overpriced drinks for what I could get for free(and better) in any college dorm room? Im 30, so thats really saying something. Save yourself the trouble and dont go on a weeknight. Support queer spaces, but also dont get ripped off by them.

Tonight, November 20, 2023, I have attended REBAR’s Friendsgiving for the 4th year in a row. It is held on the Monday before Thanksgiving. Again the wonderful presentation of food in the large display was plentiful and tasty beyond words. There was Turkey, Virginia Ham, Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, String Bean Casserole, Mac ‘n Cheese, Bread Stuffing, and a few other tasty specialties. The assorted sweet desserts came a little later. All in all, as tasty a Thanksgiving feast as one could have. Patrons were eagerly enjoying the food and drinks. Many thanks to owner Franco, Arsenio, and main chef Ron. I eagerly look forward to next year’s Friendsgiving.

I asked for a Bombay Sapphire martini, but it was not pure Bombay Sapphire in the glass. I drink it all the time. This gin left an after taste on my tongue.

Good vibe, stiff affordable drinks, and friendly staff. It usually doesn’t get busy until after happy hour ends at nine making it a great place to sit down for a lil bit before dancing all night. Music is dance hits mashups which I love but isn’t for everyone.

What a gorgeous space! GREAT sound system! Fun crowd! What I am most impressed with is the staff at Rebar. I have worked at many clubs and bars DJing in NYC. I have never met a warmer or friendlier staff than the staff at Rebar.

Unfortunately this place is loosing its quality! I have been a regular for years and always take visiting friends to Rebar, but on my last couple of visits, specially, last night my perception of the quality and overall atmosphere of Rebar went downhill. Last night a bartender became belligerent, and insulted me because I did not tip him on the first round of drinks I bought for myself and my friends, and the other bartenders took a very aloof and belligerent attitude towards me and my friends, to the point that we decided to leave to another place after a hour or so of getting there. On top of this, the cover is high, the drinks are expensive and the AC was supposedly broken, so imagine that space full of smelly, sweaty people on a NYC summer night 🤢 Rebar do better or you’ll be losing more patrons like myself!

This bar has a lot of potential because of its location but there’s this one worker named Junior that is rude AF. Like I’ve probably been in 500 bars around the world and I swear he’s the most grotesque I’ve ever met. He acts as if you’re doing a service by coming here like we’re not in New York with a few thousand options to choose from...

I love this place! The go-gos are phenomenal, the DJ’s always set the best vibe and there is typically an incredible photog running around capturing the best moments of the night!Serkan is one of my fav bartenders in the city, look for him on the weekends! He keeps the vibes high and the drinks full! It’s so great to have a truly fun gay bar in the city with a killer dancefloor!You cannot have a bad night at REBAR.

Rebar is always a serve. Serkan is my FAVORITE bartender in the entire city and makes the best drinks–the sweetest and always hooks it up! The music here slayssssss and my friends and I have the best time! 10/10 would recommend!

Michael w. is one of the best bartenders in the city. we feel safe with him. amainstay. kind and real and so much fun. treats everyone with respect. we literally come here for him. such a fun bar!!!!!!

Finally went to this place for after work happy hour. It was nearly empty and staff still ignored me (Im even not brown). What seating there was, was uncomfortable and for a new bar, the design looks 10 years old. The music, I dont remember it now. Worst of all, Happy Hour means $6 well drinks and cash only. When my friend arrived, we left to another nearby bar with a real happy hour full of nice people.With so many better choices nearby, avoid this strange, nasty place.

Ways to improve a night like RAM:1. Stanchions should be used for a real purpose and make the pass through to the bathroom/coat check/Ram room free and clear. It was way too packed and impossible to get to the back area when we wanted to. We are the ones who paid for the privilege to get back there ( albeit $10) but still. The feel wasnt VIP. You had to elbow your way to the back and then you were stuck there once you arrived.2. Limit the amount of people allowed into the club. the Eagle does it, other venues do it, respect the people who are inside. Again, way too crowded.Definitely a beautiful space and staff. Fun vibe. And great theme for the party. But just thought Id share my unsolicited advice.My two cents.

Good spot in Chelsea if your looking to sit have a frozen mar and maybe a beer on a Sunday night after work. I like it so far. the bartender from turkey is very nice.

So glad they re-opened this location with a fantastic renovation (bye bye ginormous bar) and made the space really cool and functional. The new and some old staff members are the sweetest bartenders/porters around. Alan (bartender) is my favorite!!! Hes super friendly and always aware of who needs a fresh drink (very important). He always makes everyone feel at home and thats how it should be. Ive told everyone I know to stop in any day of the week for a great time, great vibe, great drinks, and great service.

Excellently redone and rebranded into a wonderful spot that flows better and feels more comfortable. That said, its always packed.Great drinks served by some of the most professional and most talented bartenders in NYC. These guys know there stuff. They get it right the first time and youve gotta love that in a packet bar.Music is on point. Often theres a DJ as well. This is a very happening spot thats friendly and fun.Check this place out.

Great spot where karaoke cave meets dive bar low-key vibes. Nico is amazing--such great service and positive energy. He helped a friend order an off-the-beaten-track beer, and was conversational when he had no need to be. Will be coming back thanks to this awesome experience! Thanks Nico/Michael!

Not being from the city, someone recommended this place and I really enjoyed my time here. The staff was super friendly and engaging. One bartender in particular, Cole, was very attentive and remembered my drink every time! Coming from a service background myself, I’d have to commend Cole and the rest of the staff for being as professional and awesome as they were!

Thursday night dance down was a fire playlist for millennials. Fun vibe as we all get back out there as the pandemic takes a back seat. Cool staff, welcoming crowd, fun spot for dancing, drinks and hanging out.

Last night was the first time Ive ever experienced racial discrimination. This coming from a 31 year old, Georgia boy. I came to this establishment with about 30 patrons and was told that the club had reached capacity. My boyfriend had a friend that was working the door and he allowed 3 of us in the bar. To our surprise, the club was nowhere near capacity. It was full of Caucasian patrons and maybe 5 African-Americans. After realizing that they were only allowing Caucasians in, we left. The club literally had less people inside then in the actual line to get in. We decided to go and inform the others in line that it wasnt full to capacity but it was full to black capacity...meaning the owners felt that there was enough blacks inside and didnt want us there. It said that NYC is suppose to be a liberal state and where a lot of laws are derived from, let alone it being 2017. I dont recommend this bar to anyone of ethnicity or friends of. You will sit in line and be ridiculed for wearing hats and stereotyped as thugs. Please dont spend your money here nor patronage

Hi! I was here last night celebrating my 21st birthday, and I left my WellsFargo debit card. It’s disabled so I’ll just get another one. Other than that, great atmosphere, drink prices, gorgeous bartenders and overall a fun place to hangout. Thanks for a great experience!

I have been to this bar many many times, but I wanted to take the time to review this wonderful crew. Someone stole my wallet tonight and the manager was right on it and went to the security cameras searching for my belongings. Alan the manager was looking up for my wallet the whole time. Tyler and Luis were looking for it since I told them. I am so grateful for their selflessness and care. This bar cares for you and your comfort. Thank you Rebar.

Great versatile venue with 2 bars, a coat check, large bathrooms and a fun atmosphere, look out for the special nights to practice your own versatility. It has a lot of fun for everyones taste. Big banana Thursdays are the best and will fulfill your desires.

What a blast! Place was jammed packed!! I think they reached capacity! Met some of my gay friends there that I havent seen in forever! Fridays music was more my style, saturday more techno, but if into that youll love it!! Great bartenders, amazing security, owners very cool. Crowd was mixed, from younger to a lil older, all sexy people! All races and faiths welcome seemed welcomed so I dont know what the haters were reviewing but it wasnt this place. Cool crowd, no rift raft, so niche, its not some trashy place, so look your best & enjoy the eye candy..🍷🍸🍹

A coworker brought me to REBAR to see Marquee Monday. It was the best show I’ve ever seen in a NYC bar, so much more than the average drag show with a set, live Shows and a sexy male lead. Sherry and Danny are amazing and talented. Definitely coming back soon!

The new space is gorgeous. It’s a cross between classy club and an old school men’s bar. It’s a neighbothood spot and the crowd there is a mix of Chelsea hotties and cool locals. The parties there are interesting ranging from a Broadway musical style night to 70’s nights to some sexier underwear party nights. Definitely a spot to check out.

Amazing gay bar with awesome drinks and always a great crowd. The bartenders are always friendly and easy on the eyes love this place especially on Friday nights.

This gaybar is completely unwelcoming, I get called slurs every time I walk in and walk out. I am thinking of suing this bar because of the harassment and problems this bar has caused me mentally. I dont think I can take this much harassment anymore. Never coming back here ever again. I hate this bar and seriously will never visit ever again, Goodbye.

Was my second time at this place, so far was a good night again First time was a Thursday night, and second time on Saturday night. Obviously Saturday more crowded, and my point of view younger public then Thursday. Prices of drinks are very reasonable, Saturday music is kind of 80’s mixed with Disney and Divas songs. The reason for the 1 star was the bartender who intensionally served us with pure cranberry juice. I bartender for 3 years at the Marriott Hotel and I definitely know the diference of a vodka and cranberry and a pure cranberry juice. First drink he gave us regular vodka+cranberry. And for being a bartender for couple years I always make sure to give a good tip. No matter what! But my thought he didn’t like the tip and the next drink he served us with pure cranberry juice. Its so sad because first of all this bartender is brazilian, as I am, and second of all he is a kind of “famous” instagram fitness person who goes with @breme something... Probably well know for the gay community. I fell bad because my partner mention that he fells like he did intentionally. I totally disapprove this kind of behave at the costumer service industry. Don’t expect make a 10$ tip when you serve 2 vodkas cran!

Look its Monday evening. I wasnt expecting it to be pumping so I cant comment on that.I can attest to the great staff and smoking hot bar tender. As other reviewers have pointed out Michael is as advertised.Just stopped by for a quick drink at happy hour and it was a great vibe.

Love love love this place . Came for Happy hour this past weekend with a friend that was visiting . The space was industrial and sexy . Scruffy bartender that talked our ear off and knows how to make a great drink . Will definitely be back .

Fun place cool remodel it needed it it was getting kind of Ghetto maybe thats why the dropped the G name..good music.drinks a bit expensive but good.nicer crowd too. The RAM events they have are great fun and a step up from the Eagle crowed

They are the nicest staff ever, we had a group of about 15 and showed up at 2am and they were closing down, but michael was a gem and opened the bar back up for us! Will be back again for sure

Cool place, a little clickish. Never been at night. Early evening bartenders are hit and miss depending on the tender. Clients tend to be on the cool side.

Watered down well whiskey (at the back bar). The front bar was full strength. Asked for a remake of our Manhattans. He put in twice the whiskey, still weak. We both agreed it was watered down. How do they get away with this?

I’m from out of town came here for vocation I’ve been buying drinks like crazy went to the bar to ask for some olives the bartender have the Audacity to ask me why like the hell is this the kind of customer service you guys gives will never come back here whenever I visit very unprofessional not because I’m in a club that have like two black folks he think it was ok to do such !

Love Rebar, everyone is friendly the staff is sexy and fun and fast! Every time I’m in the city that is my go-to bar. Always fun always something going on and always run into people I know.

My only gripes are that theres a sense of elitism when walking in and the lack of base in their sound system (which I understand because of their neighbors). Other than that I never felt unwelcome or discriminated against because of my skin color and no one ever told me to take my hat off (a rule that is now not even in effect)

Even after buying drinks they refused to give water. My friend was struggling. We managed to get eat nearby water. But this is simply not ok to deny people water

Walked into the place to what I thought was a slave auction. There were a handful of of POC there, but they were coonin so hard for the attention of the paler people that my friend, who was a light skin muscle Puerto Rican, and I had one drink, and left.

Good place for drag race, never love the dj or the music.
