Its a club. Dance floor looks cool but is small. Sound is good, but really freaking loud. Even with earplugs. Slow service at the bar, but friendly. Over priced drinks. $15 for flavored vodka and club soda, $10 for a cider. Mixed crowd, but mostly young, too drunk, and super pushy on the dancefloor. No reentry but theres a smoking patio upstairs.
Great venue! There are two efficiently run bars with strong drinks, an impressive dance floor with tons of LCD screens on the ceiling and walls. It even has good air flow all things considered. The bathroom situation is weird and it wasnt clear if the bathrooms were meant to be gendered as labeled, or if the staff directing go anywhere had it right. Just get rid of the gendering of the bathrooms, Portland can handle it.A security guard snatched my glow stick, its whatever, he was doing his job apparently, but really didnt need to be so rude about it.
This is one of the hottest, sweatiest venues I’ve ever been to. I was so glad I went sober because it was so hot that anyone would be at risk of severe dehydration and passing out. Around me in the crowd, everyone’s hair and clothes were soaked in dripping sweat (including my own). In the front, someone was tossing water bottles into the crowd which was a nice gesture, but it was ultimately so hot that I couldn’t stand being in the crowd and I had to miss most of the headlining act. Maybe it would be better in the winter months, but I won’t be returning during the summer.I’m sad to write this review because I do like 45 East! But this is a safety concern to me that I think the owners + attendees should be aware of. I hope they can fix the AC to make it a safer, more enjoyable environment.
This is my FAVE club! 45 has gone outta their way to create a great atmosphere, all while keeping their people safe. They offer drink covers for safety, vibe checks and security on every level. While I believe there’s some room to improve with security being a little rough (especially when it comes to hearing people out on issues that happen, there’s always 2 sides ya know). I’ve always felt safe and accepted here. The staff know my face (many know my name) they make small talk with us & joke around too. They have a great new rewards program (like seriously what other club does this? It’s genius), amazing bevvys (Jacob on the lower level is the absolute GOAT) and fabulous alcohol monitors like Kessia, Justin & more as well as some fabulous staff members such as Hannah, Eli, Ian, Shawn, Jean & many more. This staff keeps this place the best EDM/Kpop club around! We appreciate y’all and the hard work that goes into creating a safe space for everyone.
I have seen so many shows at this wonderful venue! The lighting and the sound in this club is like something I’ve never experienced in a small venue. With that being said the venue is small and gets packed but when the crowd gets going it really goes off!Red cube and 45 east run An amazing venue and always have their patrons in mind when it comes to safety and everything! The safety matters crew is really there to help with ANYTHING you may need! Thanks 45 for being awesome
10/10 would recommend this club & all the beautiful people who work it!Y’all have something good happening here & we love that this has become a safe space for not only myself, but my friends too!Thank you Jacob, Eli, Ian, Hannah, Kessia, Justin and many many more for your hard work and ability to keep 45 a safe space for everyone!
I found 45 East by recommendation of my Lyft driver after trying and failing at several other night clubs. I attended last night with a group of friends and at first I was a little disappointed. We arrived around 1115 pm and there was literally about 6 people in the entire club, and the 2nd floor was empty. I was pretty shocked. However, that was because another big DJ (Troye Boy) was at their sister club until midnight. So by midnight the place was packed. Even Troye Boy showed up.Im from LA where drinks are super expensive and was excited to see the price of well drink to be only $6! I mean they arent huge drinks but they will get you there!Really had a great night, no complaints.
I’ve been attending shows here since it first opened as 45 East in 2016. They’ve had almost the same staff the entire time, all like family. I feel home here and I thank it to everyone who works there. Don’t even get me started on the production… it’s INSANE. Thanks 45 East staff for all that you do! 😻
What a fun venue! If you’re visiting, this is the EDM venue to check out. Security helps me feel safe, vibes are always positive. As a woman, I love venues that don’t allow “creepy” or unsafe behavior - I can even attend here alone, no problem. It can get a bit crowded, but the back patio and upstairs help change up the energy and offer a lot more space. I enjoy dancing to the main act upstairs.Solid bartenders get to you quickly and the drinks are good! What else can I say? Good staff, good music, good sound, good drinks.
Seriously, the best venue in the city. If you like electronic music, you truly need to catch a show here. The audio is amazing, the lasers are fantastic, they have the best acts. The staff is really great, and have a safety crew, and free water for people doing their rave things. I would come here every day if I could, as its truly Disneyland for people who enjoy electronic music, but cant travel across the country for some festival. Its highly, highly recommended.
I’ve been to this club many many times to see some top DJs and its excellent. Sometimes a bonus DJ is playing in the second floor. People of all ages, mostly young, never had a problem, quite the opposite, everyone has been super kind and are there to have a good time. The rare fun saboteurs tend to be promptly dealt with by security. Every post has a sign with a QR code that anyone can take a picture of to have help locate them.
This place is like two steps away from being one of the best EDM clubs Ive ever been to.I think the management allowing water-packs inside the venue - as is the norm for the scene - would be a great start.Fantastic A/V. Its the main pull for me to come here. Drinks arent too long a wait either.Security could also do a better job of sussing peoples vibe at the door I feel, but maybe that just reflects my own experiences when Ive been inside.
I would give it more stars. But the drinks are way overpriced and I spent $120 just to get buzzed. I do not recommend buying alcohol there but the atmosphere is pretty fun Ive never seen any problems.
One of, if not the best EDM spots in Portland. Ive been coming to shows here since it was Branx, then Euphoria and now 45 East. Ive gotten to witness a lot of the changes theyve made to the venue and its improved more than I can easily describe. Theyve clearly put a lot of work into making what it is now.The sound is top notch quality, both on the upstairs and downstairs stages. The lighting setup is incredible compared to what you see at other clubs and venues in Portland.Bar drinks are pricy but are made well should you get a cocktail.Every night is fully staffed with security, bartenders, custodians, and conscious crew (or Safety Matters as they call it).One of my favorite spots to see friends and hit shows!
You can order pizza from coat check fyiSecurity is stingy and they way oversell shows here. Best for smaller artists, a sold out crowd is completrly uncomfortable to dance in
This place has the best vibes and its 100% underground music which I appreciate more than anything. Absolutely nothing artificial/mainstream comes through this venue🥰🥰 I have seen some of my favorite artists/DJs here just this year and had the most unforgettable experiences!! Every time the crowd also creates a certain vibe too that cannot be described in words.. You just have to go to experience it. They have so many incredible shows so go check out their website and grab some tickets!!! You will have the best time even if you do not know the music. This is a place you can come and just let yourself go and be free. The few times I was there I did witness some very minor altercations and security guards were amazing about defusing the situation quickly and remaining calm in the MASSIVE crowd of dancing people. The vibes never broke 🔥🔥 and the dancefloor stayed hott... it may have even gotten hotter 😁🥵🦾I will take and post more photos next time I go 💋
I wish they cared a little more about Sound Quality and less about packing ppl in like sardines. We were upstairs for D&B night and left early because the sound was such garbage. Also, any place that full and hot should let ppl bring in their own empty water bottles. Please 🙄
I have been going to 45 East for all my EDM and Dubstep concerts. I have seen a variety of artists from Benny Benassi, Flux Pavilion, CASH CASH. Local Artist such as JSTR (First photo) All bring a unique energy to Portland and make the music scene what it is. The security is good, never had a serous safety issue as they have an organized team that’s on top of things. Staff is friendly, drinks are pricyish but you can usually afford it.Overall, great place, coming from a guy that’s been there like 10 times now😅
Came to PDX to see Claptone spin and check out 45 East. First time seeing Claptone but a long time fan. He did not disappoint. 45 East has one if the best sound systems I have heard in a club EVER! The show was not sold out which sort of surprised me. The upside was having room to move around, dance, and avoid the crazy guy dancing like no one was watching and he was the only one on the floor. Will definitely come back for another show. #Claptone #45East #noeyesonme #united #youmaketheworldgoround #weallfeelbetterinthedark #musicisair
Charging a $10 coat fee PER ITEM during winter while simultaneously not allowing readmittance is ridiculous. I tried to find the information on the website before hand and there was nothing. We were already spending $50 after the processing fees per person. Factor in drinks (limited cocktail options) and the coat check and its not worth it.Also glad I didnt pay for VIP cause you cant even see the DJ from there.Sound was decent and the balcony was nice though.
45East is just my kind of place and I love the availability for the DJ world to come in, for shows to happen, in the genres of music Electronic, Dubstep, Dance, EDM, Progressive House, Chillstep, House, Drum&Bass, etc... My first time there just this night of Thurs April 21 and Ill proclaim it was BADAZZ seeing Au5 and Chime there! They tore the show up!! 👍🏼💯🔥
Thank you for everything you do to keep attendees safe and have an enjoyable experience! I’ve been to multiple shows here now and have always had a great time, and I feel totally safe attending as a female on my own. The first time I ever went to a show at 45, I went a little too hard and got sick, and a staff member waited with me and my friends outside until a ride came and brought me water and snacks. After a show last weekend, one of our friends got a little lost in the sauce and left the venue, and a staff member helped us find him and gave me a space blanket to stay warm while we were looking. The staff definitely shows that they care and I appreciate that so much! Love the new visual setup as well! My only dislike is that the drink costs are definitely on the high end, but ticket prices are pretty affordable so it evens out.
Security is completely incompetent and rude. I was in shock at how they treated people. It was like a bunch of TSA rejects taking it out on people trying to have fun.
I have been going to shows at 45 east for years now. I really like what they’ve done with the place. The led screens throughout the main dance floor really make the place a unique experience. Drinks are reasonably priced for a night club. The staff is friendly and the sound is great.
What a great EDM venue. Ground control watching after crowd, security kicking out moshers - no warning, and free water throughout. Acoustics, audio control and visuals were on point. There is a coat check and a low key lounge upstairs with less intense vibes than the main event. Very pleasantly surprised.
Idk if anyone will care about this, but this place is extremely RACIST!!! I came here right after I moved to Portland to find new friends to hangout with but punjabi dude outside the club thinks he’s entitled for some reason cuz he works there andPissed me off just because I could speak his language.. he wanted to show off infront of a girl that was there that day… discriminated against me and Indians really,… he said some really bad things thinking nothings gonna happen to him but ik putting this honest review might help…. hoping this really finds him.: he’s the only Indian dude there..…. Like bro l had so many girls and he just jealous (probably his wife doesn’t satisfy him) and he holds my collar and pushes me away for no reason. I have a 1000 things to do than complain here but this complaint deserves to be here….
At the 2/19/22 Audien show the place appeared to be way oversold. Bathroom lines were absolutely ridiculous. Female security person upstairs obviously hated her job and everyone there. Saw three different people puke in the garbage can right in the downstairs bar. You could barely walk around, let alone dance because so many people, as you can see from the photo. I’ve been to other shows there that were great, but this was a really disappointing experience. I gave an extra star because almost nobody was wearing masks and they weren’t enforcing it, which we appreciated.
We had a great time here for J Worra, the sound/lighting system is excellent for a venue of its size. The bartenders were very friendly and the line for drinks moves quickly. I especially enjoyed the signs throughout the building highlighting the safety of their guests, with a QR code and a phone number to call if you need help/don’t feel well. Would frequent if we lived in Portland!
Thank gosh for this spot! Best music, best sound, overall best set up. It’s clean- yes- clean bathrooms and all! They even have table service if you want a nicer experience. Highly recommend this spot for dancing the night away to great music!
Update: Someone from the venue responded with When we greet customers who need ADA accommodations, we... which strongly implies that theyre referring to when they greet people at the entrance with visible mobility aids like wheelchairs. I dont use a mobility aid, but I have a spinal issue that makes stairs very difficult for me. When I inquired about restrooms downstairs, I was told theyre upstairs by two separate staff members. I wasnt made aware, through signage or verbally, that there is a restroom available downstairs at all, and/or that its only made available when members of staff visibly notice a person using mobility aids.Friendly-enough staff, I suppose, BUT the drinks are horribly expensive, the coat check is expensive and they are notorious for over-serving patrons, which is dangerous. My biggest issue, though, is with accessibility & cleanliness. The only bathrooms are upstairs and people with mobility issues arent given any alternative to the stairs. If they only cater to the 100% able-bodied, they should make that clear with signage or notices BEFORE you purchase tickets. I guess the ADA means nothing to them. And dont ever look down at the carpet when youre on the stairs because its disgusting. Absolutely filthy with every body fluid, mixed drink, and whatever else people deposit on it.Yes, the visuals upgrade is nice, but 45 East is pretty far down on the list of great clubs in Portland.
45 East is where its at. Its not some massive venue, its intimate, and you practically touch the DJ. Big names? Always. Security is on point, making sure youre safe while youre vibing. The staff? Super sweet. This place is the ultimate EDM experience in Portland. No joke, its my happy place ❤️
The main stage has a wall on one going the entire length so if youre in there everyone exits on the other side and people are crammed in there cause you have to keep the walkway clear which is on the opposite side of the wall. so idk why they decided to have that, but it wasnt the best decision. Felt like a can of sardines in there. Beer is 8 for a can, but its a club, so of course theyre going to charge extra. Anything for that extra profit margin, i guess. Plus, they are all these rules, yet i dont think i saw one rule that said no drinks on the dance floor, which is important, especially if youre crammed in there due to the bad design i mentioned earlier. Drinks get spilled on the floor, causing a slip and fall hazard. Sound systems are really good. Some people even showed up with ear plugs. Next time, Ill just be in the back or against the wall.
One of the best sound systems for Portland night clubs, in my opinion. Bass hits so goooooood
I was escorted out for no reason. The person next to me was throwing up and the security thought it was me. I’ve has had one white claw and was not tipsy at all. my friends stayed inaise while I stayed outside in the freezing cold. Get better security with better hearing.
We had an amazing time! Sound and light were on point and the crowd was super fun. Well be back
Always a great time! Incredible headliners, safe environment, ALL the sounds.🔥🎶💥
Had one of my first experiences at a night club on my birthday this past weekend, and I am so glad it was here!! Security was fine, my girl and I were on the guest list so that was pretty cool and easy to figure out where to check-in. The venue itself was very clean, the bathrooms absolutely spotless and well set up. No curtains or anything weird. The bartenders were very attentive and met my partners expectations when she asked for a sweet drink. While neither of us had seen the opening DJ Tony LaBoy before, we were very impressed!! Everyone was moving and grooving, very pleasant atmosphere. If were ever feeling like dancing, this is one of the places well be. Thank you 45 East!
I have been attending shows at 45 East since it was previously named Euphoria Nightclub. Theres a reason I still keep going to shows there. The staff there is incredible and accommodating to the patrons attending and enhance the experience. They are able to get quality performers/artists who always put on a great show. And the added renovations to the building and sound system have only enhanced the experience further. If youre looking for some fun and excitement, I would recommend checking out 45 East! 🤘
Place was great, cozy and the atmosphere was very friendly. Loved everything about the place. Security guards very respectful and professional, bar service pretty fast, drinks decently priced.
Last night I went to Valentino Kahn the bartender up stairs completely ruined my night after I went for my 2nd round of drinks he whispered and said you know it’s not nice not to tip your bartender with a really rude and sinister tone. I was gonna tip like I always do on my last round but I’ve never had any bartender do that ever such a bad look on the establishment on his part.
Great vibes and just generally beautiful souls here I went to see zingara on Saturday and sultan+shepherd on Sunday and honestly had the most fun I had in years it was amazing to see so many’s smiles and people just enjoying them selfs with no judgment and expressing them selfs through dance I will 100% be going back for as many shows as I can
Every show I’ve gone to here has been great! They recently added more lighting/monitors to the main stage which really amplifies the experience. Staff is always friendly and looks like they’re having a great time. They also have staff monitoring the dance floor to make sure party-goers are safe which is a huge plus! The sound is okay 🤷♀️
Security is overly forceful, bathrooms are upstairs and always full, and the entire place smells to high heavens. Been here twice and it’s been a terrible experience both times.
Employees are rude. They way oversell the venue so it’s not even enjoyable.was forced to turn off my necklace that lit up, (very dim light). I was wearing an outfit similar to others there, except I was wearing more clothing than they were but only I got kicked out for “showing too much”.This is NOT the EDM venue you want it to be.GO TO NORTH WAREHOUSE INSTEADThis venue is a waste of your money
Favorite venue, so many cool people who work there that I absolutely adore. I would go there every day of every weekend if I could. Have made some of my favorite lifetime memories there. Very safe and in my opinion affordable for what you’re getting. Long time fan and it’s not changing anytime soon🤘🏼
Such attentive staff members and phenomenal atmosphere, second floor patio with a killer view but better yet a stage upstairs and on the first floor. Led screens on the walls with visuals on the ceiling is a fresh touch to an industrial scene presenting edm and dub artists abound. Every night here is a refreshing experience proving to be a watering hole for people of all backgrounds. Tickets are always affordable, artists are always on point and they ensure your experience is more than you bargained for. If you havent been here that should be your only regret.
Zero out of 5 stars. The behavior of their security staff was completely unwarranted, unprofessional, and unacceptable.
The club felt very safe. All of the security were polite and attentive. I like that they have volunteers to keep an eye and help people as well. The club had a great and respectful vibe, no creepers and folks were polite if they bumped into you etc. It makes one wonder if all the negative reviews are from people who couldnt pace themselves and were salty that they got ejected for being sloppy drunk.I felt that the music could have been a lot louder/ bass deeper for an EDM show. When I go to a show I really want to feel the music through my whole body.
This is an iconic place in portland and it’s been a music venue forever. I like that it’s an edm club now. World class sound, lights, etc… and the lineups are great. The men at the door in charge of letting people in have full COP vibes. I’ve witnessed some pretty aggressive power tripping towards friends and strangers at the door here. Just a friendly warning to all the party people out there. Don’t have anything you shouldn’t have. Don’t smile, don’t make a joke. Just behave as you would going through TSA. Then they will grant you the privilege of being permitted into the edm club. Oh silly Portland, a parody of itself. 🙏 🙄🎉💃
Go out in Portland they said, it’ll be fun they said. Yeah right haha. More like get over served at 45 east, get punched in the face for being a fun loose drunk, lose all your belongings and your brand new phone. Have nothing done about any of it. Security? Non existent apparently. Go home feel like it’s your fault. Have nothing done about any of it. It’s great!
E45T is my go to spot most weekends. The artists that they book are always incredible and ticket prices are never pricey for who you are seeing. The staff there are also super nice.My biggest complaint is that I wish the venue was bigger but that is hardly a complaint.Overall, it’s one of my fave places to be and will be for years to come.
45 East is hands down best club in Portland. Always clean and safe environment for everyone. Amazing bar service and security is always respectful.
Would have been a great night at an awesome venue if not for power tripping security guards beforehand. One security confiscated (right into his pocket) my vape outside of the venue. I watched the same security guard watching the people in front of me snorting powder without saying a word. Enjoy my vape, a**hole!
I’ve been going here for a few years and it has been amazing. I recently went there with covid restrictions and I’m glad they have it in place. It feels good that they are checking thoroughly. It shows they care about their staff, DJ, and customer. I read some of the reviews and I don’t think people who are giving them are the customers who understand the environment of this venue. This place is amazing for what it is especially in Portland consider this is the only place that is built around electric dance music. I just want to thank the owner for just opening this venue in Portland.
Super amazing atmosphere! Staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the crowds are too. The performers are always people I’m interested in. It’s a nice lowkey local venue so you don’t have to worry about driving far distances for events. The cover charge is usually affordable as well. I highly recommend 45 East for a place to go dance and have a great time!
I love 45 east. I start going there 4 years ago. When it was fresh. A lot of changes have been made for the better. The lighting and production is really unmatched! The security is friendly and welcoming, shout out to Brian for always greeting us, he is full of good vibes and super friendly. There has been a lot of backlash and negativity the club has faced. Which 45 east is only 5 years old. It’s grown to be very successful and with that success comes learning curves along the way.Today I had the opportunity to speak to Paul, the owner of 45 east. He is a very caring and charismatic man who has a lot of love for his patrons and his team!He informed me the club is somewhat ADA friendly and works a long side his team to allow patrons to come as they are and feel welcomed and provide accommodations. There is a better and safer route they are taking to keeping all patrons safe. With this new route, I was assured all staff has been through the steps to being certified through this program. Thanks for keeping it plur. I will def be back soon ❤️
I used to like this place, but over time Ive noticed the issues here. Every single time Ive been to a show theres at least one person whos puking everywhere outside, which is probably because of overselling alcohol. As well, it is excessively crammed and its impossible to see the stage unless you want to get shoved every 15 seconds in the crowd. Theres also the 12th planet issue, which speaks for itself. I would think that a company who pretends to care about the community would at least acknowledge it. It also appears that a lot of promoters deleted me off Facebook after I pointed this out, which is interesting. Overall, unless youre a club bunny I would suggest literally anywhere else for edm shows.
I’ve been going to this venue since I moved to the Portland area 7 years ago. I’ve seen world class djs year after year in a very chill environment with good security, reasonable drink prices, amazing lighting, and an amazing sound system. Will continue to rage her for my stay in the PNW.
This place is an absolute blast, which honestly came as a surprise to me after reading reviews before visiting for a show. The bouncers were friendly (not overly so), and the bartenders were quick and kept up nicely with the huge crowd. Cold water was readily available, and it was nice being able to use the patio to cool down as well. I will definitely be returning for a show. As for other people complaining about the dress code and being turned away at the door: do some research on their website first and that wouldnt be a problem. Cheers.
My friends and I being the die hard jersey shore fans we were excited to see pauly d play. But as we were having a good time, one of my friends gets elbowed by some other girl, my friends moved her arm out of the way and some how gets kicked out? Only enjoyed about an hour of the show due to security kicking out the wrong people. Wouldn’t recommend going here unless you plan on standing in the back where no one can hit you. Considering we were also the most sober out of the crowd as well.
Always a great adventure!Staff are smiley, the guards are on point, but still fun. Artist after artist you give these sometimes existential experiences to people and that’s wonderful. Music therapy !!!!!
So the security and bartenders are amazing, the problem with 45 east is the crowd. Security does its best to keep them under control, but every time Im here I end up getting constantly pushed around the dance floor by drunk bros that dont care who they shoulder or elbow. Which is really too bad because the venue itself is amazing.
I’ve seen quite a few shows at 45 East over the years and there is no doubt that they have the best venue in Portland! They host a wide variety of artists and will always have something for every type of EDM fan. The sound system is top notch with crisp audio and an amazing light setup! Will definitely be planning on going to more shows at this venue!
I was in town for work and decided to go to an event (by myself) because I loved the headliner. I seriously did not know what to expect and was a little nervous about being a lone female at a club, but I had an overwhelmingly positive experience at 45 East. The door people were welcoming and friendly, as were the security and bartenders. The sound system was on point! Never once did I feel unsafe or creeped out. It may have been the event but I felt like people went to this club to actually listen to the music, which is quite refreshing. There was a free water station (one of my big pet peeves is when you have to buy bottled water at a club in order to stay hydrated). I 100% recommend 45 East!! Thanks for an awesome trip to Portland. My only regret is that I couldnt stay later due to work the next morning.
Ive been to so many shows here over the years. They always bring the best talent and best vibes. Sounds is always on point and the staff has always been friendly. Looking forward to more amazing nights of music here. 5 stars.
Update: I have spoken with the owner of the club and he is working to address the issues I mentioned in this review. He was extremely receptive to constructive criticism and offered me a refund for the show and tickets to another show. It is my belief that in time these issues will be solved and it will be restored to its former glory.Edit 2022: this place has become an absolute nightmare, they way oversell tickets because the have a large space upstairs that accounts for more people than should be allowed in the building for safety purposes because they have extra space upstairs even though everyone is downstairs. This used to be the best Portland had to offer but now the crowd being completely over intoxicated and security doing nothing about it. You dont have room to move around at all, people are completely over intoxicated its a huge problem nobody had any manners at all. Sick of being crammed in there like a sardine, sorry but the tickets are more and more expensive and all that happens is you get shoulder checked every 2 seconds. That or the guy thrashing around behind you smashes into your shoulder/head and blames YOU and tries to fight. Luckily for him Im older and have kids.(I had had about 4 beers over the course of the night and would have been totally safe to drive you could tell this guy was all kinds of cross faded) I just put my hand out for a hand shake and we removed ourselves from the situation. Used to love this place my favorite venue in portland but red cube has gotten incredibly greedy in the last year. This used to be a safe space where you could hang out, enjoy the music and have enough room to dance around a bit but now its absolutely garbage. The bar staff is top notch and the security guards are good especially the black haired bartender that works the first floor bar and the black security guard thats usually standing at the top of the stairs. Near the bathrooms. They are great! Super friendly and attentive they both deserve 5 stars.I used to love this place so much and it absolutely breaks my heart to have to write this, but they have absolutely exploited their layout to cram way too many people into a small space. Save your money and watch festival sets on YouTube. So sad to see my beloved scene go in the trash because people are so self involved and dont care. My fiancee and I who are long time patrons (well before this place was called 45 east) will not be attending any more shows at this venue.
I always have fun here!!! The insta is lit and super helpful for finding out whats going on. Def have gone just because I saw a post about a show happening right then. I love the fact that there are always multiple artist upstairs and downstairs, so you can check out different vibes, and often the artists upstairs are local! Shout out to the safety crew as well for checking on me three times when I sat down outside lol.
Always a fun night of dancing at this nightclub! I love all of the artists this club brings to town. Great music, good vibes, and friendly staff. Really enjoy the option of a VIP area, too. Just wish I could make it out more often!
Cool venue, drinks are reasonably priced. Staff is great, however, I had to give a 3-star review because my last interaction with the security was poor. I have never been to a venue where the security would put their hands into my purse and move my items around to check the contents inside without asking me for permission prior. I do not mind my purse being checked thoroughly, but for someone to reach inside my purse without asking is not okay. Its just courteous to ask as well...
Friend got kicked out because she puked, but while waiting for a cab watched multiple people leave and reenter the venue to go to their cars despite it being a no re entry show. This place definitely picks and chooses which rules it follows.
– Any behavior that is perceived to be offensive to the club’s staff or patrons is not allowed45 east (Red Cube) went ahead and broke their own rule, and has yet to acknowledge it.Red Cube books predators, doubles down on said booking, even after MANY patrons disapproved. After so many deleted TRUTHFUL comments, they finally deleted every event link/post. And skated over the issue completely. No apologies to the community for making many of us upset. I will never again be attending 45 east, or any red cube curated event
Been going off and on for about 6 years. They have gone above and beyond with improvements to lights and sounds post phase 1. Staff always friendly I think they can do a little better on drink prices for the non alcoholic drinks for us goers that are designated drivers I think 10 bucks for a redbull is a but outlandish.
Imagine a large dive bar (with brick walls and dim lighting) but it is a music venue that is built such that the crowd is always facing, and mainly focused on, the musician. It was a wonderful way to get close to your favorite professional musician.
This place brings in local and global talent/community. Its always great dancing. I enjoy the lights, lazers, and screens all over the venue, feels like being on a spaceship. The 2nd floor also has a stage; so there are usually 2 performances going on at the same time. Venue has 2 bars so lines are never bad, and a spacios balcony to catch fresh air/smoke. Its always a positive experience. It can get a little crowded on big nights but everyone is very nice so it always works out!
Overall great experience, staff seemed friendly and got people in pretty quickly. Crowd can get pretty packed on some nights which is to be expected in a club but there was access to water and decent bathrooms. Doesnt get 5 stars because they dont allow LED gloves
Best Edm club in Portland hands down! They have the friendliest staff, top liquor selections, and the best sound system period!
As a successful career DJ who has travelled the nation and globe consistently for more years than I care to admit, I can say emphatically this venue is 100% proper. The sound system is completely dialed in, the layout is beyond ideal from the stage. The staff is second to none, and the owner is one of the most genuine people you could hope to work for. In fact, we play for him exclusively and feel no need to look elsewhere because there aren’t many people in this business who do put the time and effort and consideration into each event quite like Paul Song does. I will put my name and reputation on the line for him any and every time. Anybody saying anything less than this, has some strange motive because there has never been anything less than stellar work in the dozens of times I have played for him. You can even find a live show of mine on SoundCloud from whiskey bar when he was there.Dave AK1200
Went on 2018-2019 NYE party with Gabriel & Dresden on main. Night was off the hook with the extended play. Only thing that sucks, well besides the over priced drinks, was I couldnt dance long before having to stop. Im having a little problem with my lower legs and hips do to a car accident a while back but cant hold that against anyone. Really like this place. Staff was fairly low key but visibly going about their business ushering folks out who been bad or just need help and policing the rest like a bunch of trail bosses. One other drawback was outside area infront clearly cordoned off for smoking and space for patrons but theres a $5 reentry fee. Go upstairs to the outside patio area and not even a dime to get back in. My advise to management is lose the reentry fee and dont be so greedy at the watering stations. Charging more for a Jim Beam neat than a strip club is a little over the top. All-in-all great vibe, staff, great music, great friends and time. Id do it all again and will recommend this place to anyone looking for awesome in town venues.
HELL FRIGGIN O. just and the absolute worst experience here! was looking pretty hot in a cute dress and PLATFORM flip flops and they didn’t let me and my friends in. it just hurts to know that everyone in there was uglier them me. also im in the navy and. to see us treated like that is so sad. NOT A WIN
We have been here twice to dance the night away. We are not the typical guests and had some attention due to our joining in. Definitely a well put on show. We saw DJ Jazzy Jeff, and others. There was a great sound system and lights, so many lightsCold water available and multiple bars so the lines were manageable. Upstairs there is a place to chill out a bit. It has different music offerings, a full bar, patio and good vibe. Even if you’re not 25, but like EDM and aren’t afraid of putting yourself out there, you should take a minute and visit 45 East. Best EDM music in Portland.
Kill the noise was awesome, I dont see why 45 east gets so much hate in the reviews, its a pretty nice club and they get some big names to show up, tickets are cheap. Security didnt hassle me at all, just the usual quick pat down, ID check, and a stamp on my wrist. They have tons of free water spouts and a big upstairs area where you can cool off. Pretty good sound a light setup. My only complaint is they ban vapes yet allow smoking on the balcony. I dont see why I should have to pay a $5 re-entry fee and run to my car to get my nicotine fix when cigarette smokers dont have to put up with that.Edit: upped it from 4 to 5 stars because Ive been to about 10 shows there since then and its my favorite venue in Portland.
Been coming to 45 east for years. Love this Establishment. The staff Austin & Brian have been nothing, but great to me. Love to see the venue Evolving with new features. 45 is definitely the place to be. Amazing vibes💜🤘
My husband and I love this place and have been coming here for years because they always host the best artists coming into town. They have added a lot more lights over the years and the stage production quality has continued to improve. Excited for this Fridays event! 😊
This place is getting worse and worse.Between booking 12th planet, gatekeeping local talent, getting rid of their blacklist policy, and firing safety crew after Moonlight Masquerade, I am personally done with the venue and would like to see a real change in policy after a clear and long history of not caring about its patrons.
This venue is literally my home away from home 💜 The shows and artists are incredible and every single weekend is guaranteed to knock your Demonia boots and socks right off! The entire staff make it their top priority to ensure everyones safety and good time and they always have the best photographers! Thank you for being here and surviving the pandemic, and coming back stronger than ever! Youre a lifesaver!!! We love you! 💜💜💜
One of our favorite clubs in Portland. Great sound system, friendly bartenders, and amazing artists are always playing. Never leave without a big smile on my face. It gets hot though, bring a fan and stash your coat in coat check.
This is definitely one of my go-to nightclubs in Portland. They’re always bringing my favorite artists!! The new visual upgrades they did are awesome and everybody should experience it!
First time at this club and the security personal made sure it was the last. My fiancé was walking downstairs and the security rudely yell at him to keep moving when he was just waiting for me. My fiancé was very upset at this. We are going to a business place and expect to be treated with respect. We are making this place money and were treated like teenagers by security personnel. It could also be interpreted as racism as we are Latino. We would at least expect our money back. You guys ruined our night!!
The shows are awesome. The people are awesome. I have some of the best memories here with friends. Rules are simple, the staff is friendly. Theres a safety crew that tends to people that get a little intoxicated. Honestly my favorite place hands down. Home away from home.
They notoriously over-serve their patrons. As a rideshare driver, I pick up people here literally black out drunk every single weekend. Last weekend one of these people got so confused they tried to steal my car. Ive also seen people being removed via stretcher an uncountable amount of times. If youre looking to be served an illegal and irresponsible amount of alcohol, and wake up with zero memory in a hospital bed or jail cell, this is the place for you.
Bought a ticket to support a friends show. As soon as I got in, I was told to drop my backpack off. Fair enough, I guess, but then they tried to charge me $5 for it. I only had $2 in cash, which I handed over. They told me it wasnt enough and that I could use the ATM they had. I refused, and said I was a diabetic and was being courteous giving them ANY money considering they had no basis to take the bag from me in the first place. After being judged and reluctantly given a ticket, they stuck a security guard on me who asked if I wanted to go outside. All this happened while my friend was playing a new song of mine for the first time. Very unpleasant. NOT recommended.
Doesnt seem like much during the day, but the inside is surprisingly spacious and nice. Kayzo set was fire, well tequila shots were cheap (for a venue), and overall enjoyed the place.
I love 45 East! They book a great variety of EDM Artists and tickets are always really reasonably priced. The drinks are good and they have a smoking deck that is nice for when you need a break. I highly recommend!
Love the new facelift, and they can bring in some great artists. Most the experienced security is actually really understanding except for Tanner with the broken heart tattoo on his cheek. Dude was killing the vibes of multiple parties and security acted like they weren’t his friend when I asked who he was. Hopefully they find someone to replace him to match the rest of the teams energy and keep progressing to better nights
Had the best time with my girls at Dirt Monkey. Staff was professional, fun and friendly. Drinks and music were on point. Loved the lighting and the music kept me dancing and laughing with my friends all night!
Im a huge fan of electronica music and have seen numerous shows at this venue. The majority of my experiences have been positive. The club is a cozy size making the shows more intimate. Sound is great. Bar prices are reasonable and drinks tend to be strong. One note of caution would be to watch out for creepers and keep an eye on your drinks. Ive had two experiences where two different female members of my party were clearly slipped drugs in their drinks. Dont expect the bouncers to be understanding if you appear intoxicated regardless of the circumstances. They dont serm to have any concern for the safety or wellbeing of the patrons.
Gotta love this venue. Always bringing in amazing talent.Nice view of downtown from the upper deck out back.Never experienced a bad crowd and I dont think Ive ever even seen a fightThough, the bums out front are annoying. The venue should put some speakers out front. Lol
Had such a fun experience listening to one of my favorite EDM artists from Italy. The staff here was super friendly, the venue was spacious, and the music quality was great. I would come back!
Only place Ive found in Portland for consistently good house and techno. Staff is awesome and the owners are doing great to make us feel covid safe with the measures theyre taking. Keep up the good work and Ill keep coming back!
Friendly staff throughout the experience. Drinks were a little more than typical but since we were there to see a show it was worth it. Great music, loud sound system (I could hear down stairs music to). The covered patio at the back was warm and friendly.Fun place to explore up and down stairs:)
Most of the time 45 is where you’ll find all of the big EDM people when they stroll through Portland. Lasers and lights for days and there are two levels which is super awesome when they throw events with two stages. There’s an outdoor balcony upstairs too which is pretty sweet when you wanna get some fresh air and chill. Another awesome thing about this place is the people who attend the shows. Everyone’s pretty awesome and just wants to have a good time and be there for the party and the vibes and the drinks and the hydration and the long sentences that use “and” too much. So totes try this place out if you haven’t yet.
45 east is a great club, they have great management as well as bartenders and security. Let us not forget 45 east is known for great live DJs and bands of all types. If you want to enjoy your night at the best club in Portland Oregon I suggest to check it out!
The best venue for EDM shows in Portland. Amazing acts, a very intimate club feel to see your favorite artists in, and still large enough you can lose yourself in the crowd dancing the night away if you want. Red Cube events here always draw in the best crowds, and you can tell how much most artists enjoy playing for them.Amazingly friendly staff, awesome drinks, some of the areas best local talent to open the night up, and some of the friendliest people Ive met are regulars here. I dont know about all the comments on other reviews about homophobia or other discrimination (that was before my time here), but in the last 18 months Ive been attending shows here, I can say Ive never seen an instance of that from any of the staff, and the community that Ive become a part of here has given nothing but the most amazing support when I was coming out and when I started transitioning.Always good vibes here. Highly recommended! #PLUR
This club is awesome!! Shows are top notch (as you can see by checking out the schedule), and the staff is wonderful. Ive been a patron for years, and have always been welcomed and loved. Whether you live in PDX, or are in town and want to have an awesome evening, you should check it out!
We read the reviews. Everyone complained about the bouncers.. ok. THEY WHERE RIGHT!!We got kicked out for my foot slipping down 1 step of the carpeted stair case. What??!We paid $60 dollars for the concert and got kicked out with the last hour to go. Thats The best part of any show!Ill never go to this club ever! Bouncers are the WORST!!
45 East is a sick venue, which is why its a damn shame that the bouncers are overbearing garbage. In the four hours I was there for an EDM show, people were being told not to pull their bandanas over their faces, a girl was kicked out almost immediately because she was wearing booty shorts (Pretty standard for ravers, and wasnt even that risque), and a bouncer literally crawled across the stage during the performance to tell some guy in the front row who wasnt causing any trouble to put his shirt back on. Really? To top it all off, right after the show ended, a bouncer immediately came over and told people they werent allowed to get water from the fountain, and had to leave the club. When I say right after the show ended, I mean it. It was less than two minutes after the artist finished his set, he was still on stage, and people who had been dancing for literal hours were being told they couldnt get a drink from the fountain.I would love to come to another show here, but it feels less like a club, and more like a daycare with overpriced booze and electronic music.
Was a little stinky, prices were outrageous and way expensive for what it’s work. A Red Bull was 8 dollars. Only one DJ and there was people puking in trash cans on the back patio. I don’t plan on being there again.
This place brings amazing talent through! they recently added more screens and lights to the ceiling and it makes a crazy immerssive experience. Always have a good time here! I literally met my wife at this club and weve been together for 5 years now! Great spot!
I found myself in Portland, again, and was looking for a late night dancing diversion. Did a net search and found this underground spot, 45 East. It is in a non-descript wharehouse area and upstairs. The high vibrations were pumping, the crowd was cool, and the libations were served quickly. The VIP area kind of pushes the DJs to the side of the main room and inhibits viewing the show from the opposite side of the room. The sound system was decent and adequate. I feel that there could have been more of a light show included for the full sensory effect. Doc Martin and Josh Wink spun together an uplifting experience. The bar staff and security were excellent and friendly. I had a great time and will return every weekend I find myself in Portland in the future!
Great venue with top notch EDM artists! I love that they took the time to remodel the building, because if you saw it before, you know how much of an improvement the whole club is! They have free water in multiple places, which is wonderful!
I’ve been attending shows here for a while now and have never had a bad experience. I’ve gone to shows on weekends, and week nights, with friends, or by myself and have always experiences the same respectful treatment by staff and other patrons. I highly recommend 45East and plan on continuing to attend shows here for the foreseeable future
Every show ive seen at 45 has been a great experience! Staff is friendly, covid guidelines are fair and safe, and the sound quality is bomb. Its been so cool having a solid venue in portland to catch all my favs.
Easily my favorite club. They consistently bring in great artists and keep investing in making the club and better venue. This place singlehandedly makes Portland an EDM destination for most touring DJs. The staff is always great as well
Cant speak for the most recent negative review, I had a pretty stellar experience for the most part. Shoutouts to the staffer for pointing out the prime capture area for photo/video on the main level. Noisia shreds live.Only reason this place doesnt get 5 stars is the $5 reentry nonsense. Need to ditch that policy. Otherwise, great and personable staff, clean, and fantastic sound. Security was also polite and professional.
We had a bad experience with one of the staff members. There was a miscommunication at the bathroom because we thought they were cutting in line and didn’t know he was staff trying to clean the bathroom. non of the staff members even wanted to hear our side of the story. We got kicked out and they told us we were intoxicated when we are just trying to explain ourselves. They didn’t care and just kicked us out. Last time we come to 45 East.
Legit one of the coolest venues Ive been to.
Zero stars. They make their security guards sneak peeks in your bathroom stall while you’re going potty. Huge safety violation & moral violation of my personal space and safety towards others. Bunch of nasty & egotistical workers. Don’t waste your time.
They have the bouncers search more than necessary and take your supplements (I imagine theyll reply with something about liability but thats not valid), but the ticket prices are good.
I’ve played here many times and the sound has been top notch! The bar staff is amazing too. Tip your bartenders and bring good vibes and you won’t have a bad time here!
Overheard the bouncer talking about We are expecting over 800 people tonight for Dirt Monkey... This venue continously overbooks shows to the point you cant even enjoy any of the sets no matter who comes to town. They have terrible AC units ( Youd think they would atleast cover this front if they are over doubling the capacity of their club) and their well drinks start at 8$! Every time I have tried to come here and enjoy myself ( I go to most edm festivals and events ) I have been seriously disapointed. You ethier leave overly drenched in sweat even tho you barely danced, or you leave early. Youre better off taking your business elsewhere. Its so cliche for businesses to rip off young adults who enjoy EDM
This company and venue are About the worst POS garbage bags Ive ever done business with. The club itself is hot, over capacity and overall bade minimum for the price you pay for a ticket....last time I was there the bathrooms didnt have toilet paper holders or napkins in female stalls. The mirror was leaned up on the wall. Talk about bare minimum to just get buy why they take in $40 tickets. The actual owners, red cube, dont give a darn about their patrons. They discriminate against people who speak their mind. And 86 otherwise local patrons for no reason at all. Stay far away. There are much better options for nightlife then these scumbags. Its only a matter of time till the firemarshall sees the over capacity crowds and hoards of drug dealers hanging out at VIP
The crowd was awesome but the door men were prejudice towards the colored customers. They did not let me back in, when I came outside for freah air, saying that I was misbehaving. I had a single cocktail! They did not treat my other white friends the same way. We ended up leaving the club to go somewhere more friendly. I hope this kind of ignorance is not common in Portland.
My favorite in Portland. It has an upstairs relaxation area with a bar if you want to rest from all the head banging. I will say it does get crowded downstairs. People are pushy and want to dance the night away.Size: 6/10Ventilation: 7/10Style: 8/10Bars: 2 (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs)Prices: 7/10Bathrooms: 1Smoke area: Yes
Best EDM club in the NW hands down. Solid sound, fantastic lasers and lights and the crew from owner down to coat check are good people. I can’t recommend this place enough!
I have been coming to this club since I was 15 back when it was the B Complex and a rock venue. Now as 45 East, it hosts many of my favorite DJs which should be a good thing right? Flase (Blackbears). Quite the opposite actually. 15 years ago they didnt have air conditioning and they Still dont today. Hundreds of dancing, dehydrated, drinking, probably drugged up people packed like sardines on the dance floor, I felt on the verge of passing out multiple times (not on drugs and staying hydrated). Youd think by now, they would care enough about the attendees and Artists for that matter to install some air con or Fans at the Very least! Its torturous and makes it hard to enjoy the music/experience you came for. They have changed what used to be a nice chill spot with sofas, chairs and a generally more open mini dance floor to the left of the stage into a VIP Only roped off seated table area. Which when Ive gone, tends to stay mostly empty and just takes up space that the rest of us paying patrons would love to put to good use. And having an area for people to relax and cool off, but still be able to see the stage was priceless; not to mention a good health/safety measure. My last main complaint is echoed by every other person who has arrived at the club, excited and ready to dance, only to be turned away and sent home to change our shoes, because we were wearing FLIP FLOPS. In SUMMER. Going to an almost Unbareably Hot Dance club. Was this information clearly provided on the event page? No, obviously not or I wouldnt be writing this. In order to find this information, you have to follow a link or go to the venues website and read their policy/Codes of Conduct. Which if youve never had an issue going there before, or at any venue really and generally follow basic rules, you may not think you Need to locate and read the code of conduct.Anyway, at the end of the policy it says shoes must have ankle straps. Apparently (according to one of the bouncers) this change was due to some idiot tripping while wearing flip flops and trying to sue the club. Not sure why that has to ruin it for the rest of us. People try to sue companies constantly for things that were their own fault. I also find it ironic and hilarious that 6 inch Stiletto heels are A-OK, drunkenly stumbling up and down the stairs, but again, not sandals without an ankle strap. So after 3 Uber rides, a different pair of sandals, and almost half way into Justin Martins set, we got to enter the club. ABSURD. And saddening because I would love to see Shiba San, Claude Vonstroke, Paul Oakenfold etc. coming up, but because of these issues, Im highly hesitant in buying another ticket to this venue.
I love the artists that roll through this place thanks to Red Cube. Ive been a long time attendee of Red Cube events and used to come to the Euphoria venue a lot when it was Branx/Rotture. Ive however had many poor interactions with the staff, particularly last weekend. They were extremely unsympathetic towards a misunderstanding with my friends ticket. I wont go into detail but they basically told us to piss off after we waited in line in the cold and paid for our tickets ahead of time. After missing out on a great artist and driving home I sent them a message over facebook explaining my disappointment in my favorite Portland venue, but they told me to piss off again instead of maybe offering a measly $12 refund and creating a positive experience for a frequent visitor. Sucks because theyre in a position of power with such great artists getting booked there and hardly anywhere else locally, so unfortunately I have to interact with the ego-inflated staff again if I want to see my favorite artists.
Favorite place to boogie in Portland! If you love dance music, you wont be disappointed with this place. Sound and production are great and they do a great job keeping the industrial vibe going at the same time. It is the perfect balance of what I love about Portland and the dance music scene.
Very fun place to go to out for a night of dancing and fun electronic music. Lots of variety in terms of shows every weekend with very friendly staff. Security there does great work at listening to complaints and making sure that people are respectful and not causing too many problems.
Good sound, good crowd the night I was last here. Ive heard it isnt always that good though so your mileage may vary.Drinks were fine. Nobody seemed cranky to pour me one. Water was out. Ive noticed a trend in PDX of places not putting out the water like usual in an attempt to increase drink sales. Please dont do that. Thanks.
First time at E45T - Jade Room and I was very impressed given some of the reviews I had seen. Really clean, outstanding sound, chilled peeps, bartenders, entry folks and bouncers were really polite and professional.... couldnt have asked for a better experience watching Jax do his thing in PDX. Thanks for the great experience.
Club was poppin but $30 is not worth dropping. And then a $5 coat check to boot? Please. Music was nice, if youre missing bass canyon this could help you get your fix.
45 east has really fostered the rave community giving everyone a great experience. The security guards are always there to help you in a respectful manner. I would recommend this place for anyone!
I enjoyed myself a little too much and lost my wallet. I emailed them the next day (they were closed) but they sent me directions on when to come in. Ian and his team searched and helped me find my wallet (thank gosh because I am from out of state). Not only is this place a great time but they have great customer service! Cheers!
Awesome venue, just please save yourself money and dont buy drinks here. I got charged $20 for two cheap shots. Will continue coming here to see artists I like, however I will not spend a dime beyond admission.
Small, decent nightclub. Not the best audio quality, but some cool artists come through frequently and only a few hundred people can fit inside so its a neat experience. Bars on both levels.
Recent dress code changes meant our drive to Portland ended up for null, as the staff wouldnt let us in because my girlfriend had her big toe showing through her expensive dress shoes. Staff was incredibly unprofessional and offered no help. Told us to go find a shoe store at 10pm then turned around on our face and walked inside. Sad to watch this venue turn into garbage.
First time there last night for JVNA and QUIX. A good crowd, lots of space, and a good safety crew of employees helping people out. Glad to have this place for lesser-known DJs to come. Drinks are too expensive, but I hope to come back soon.
Ive seen a few shows there, edm, and some synth wave. Bouncers are a bit uptight. My friend couldnt even use his light up tie during the show...I think my biggest complaint is the sound system. They really need some more mid and high range, its basically all low, doesnt bring out the sound of edm or synth.Lastly, horrible beer selection. Who actually drinks olympia....
Dress code had changed and that kinda sucks. More Club like and less rave like now days :( but they still have good shows.$10 for a vodka Redbull.Only one bathroom.
My friends and I would like to commend one of your employees by the name of Mario. He stopped an uncomfortable situation from happening in its tracks early this morning at the end of the Ookay concert. This employee acted quickly and prevented what could have been a horrific night. The world would be a much safer place with more people like Mario. Thanks for looking out.
Saw Le Youth for 15 at the door, perforned downstairs. Totally worth the price, great show, great visuals. Just went to see Golden Features last night, also for 15. However this was upstairs, no visuals, and the show abruptly ended at 130, he barley played for 50 minutes. Kind of disappointed that the same price could warrant different experiences.
Brittany is the best employee and amazing person at 45 east. She was nice enough to charge my phone during Nora en pure! Purified love
Decent venue, nice led pannels, could use better lighting aswell. The sound seem to be a little low, could just be me. The bouncers are a little too much. They need to find a way to keep the floor dry, its annoying when were trying to dance and slipping.
This place is now under new ownership and has decided to kick out all of the queer music nights like Blow Pony. They had the nerve to then do a benefit for the Orlando shooting survivors. Yikes....hypocrites, much?I have been to this club a few times and usually avoid it because its too dark, and if a fire broke out, I doubt people would survive. Its a deathtrap. I wouldnt be surprised if it has one of those U signs on it. But I wouldnt know because you cant see anything!
Portland on crack, but that can be fun too. Basically this place is trying to be a nyc or LA night club in Portland. The huge ceilings and LED screens make for a great atmosphere and the sound is outrageously good, however always super crowded with people over eager to spend too much money on a status drink. Same problems you run into in downtown LA and Chelsea in NYC. Just a different brand of douchiness cause it is Portland and feels stranger here.
Favorite spot to catch electronic music in Portland! From Rusko, to Claude Vonstroke these guys bring something for everyone! The sound, lighting, and staff make for an all around amazing experience! Highly recommend attending!
Worst venue in Portland. Terrible distorted sound system and annoying lights that blind you every 5 seconds. Way overpriced. Tickets are marked up like 50% at the door but thats just the beginning. Need to hang up your coat? Five bucks. Wanna sit down? VIP lounge will cost you. Need to step out and take a call? Five dollar reentry fee. On top of that everyone is extremely rude. They seem to really not want people coming back. If an artist is playing that youre a big fan of, drive up to Seattle instead. Otherwise whenever you think about the time you saw them live youll be reminded of the miserable night you had at 45 East. DONT. GO. HERE.
Rude staff likes to point flashlights in your eyes for no known reason. Too much security throws off the vibe, makes you feel like a peasant. Id rather go clubbing in my own home.
Been many many times. I mean considering its a night club it was eveything I expected inside. 5 stars because they keep getting Darude to come (edit: They just brought him back for New Year 2020 show! I would give 6 stars if I could)
Paid money for a show and wasnt allowed to go inside for wearing Birkenstocks, which I can wear to: Doug Fir, Mississippi Studios, Revolution Hall, Star Theater, Crytsal Ballroom and... literally every other venue in Portland. Rude staff, terrible crowd, awful vibes -dont bother.
Love this spot, love the smoking deck. Feels like theres room to move about and I like that. Good location, excellent headlining djs. Ill be back many more times
Best place in town for EDM, but their ticket system is terrible. Dont post available at the door and then have so few tickets. Even so, find a way to post SOLD OUT. Maybe on the website...? Also, the time prior tickets were 20 bucks, advertised 15 online. Somewhat arbitrary chosen rate.
Always has top notch talent excellent sound and lights one of the best production teams in the state if you like a wide range of EDM and see and act coming here you want to see… you won’t be disappointed
I have been fortunate to enjoy amazing artists like Riot Ten, Sacha Robotti, J. Worra and many more at this cool industrial venue with an amazing view of downtown Portland.
Showed up on a Friday, pre-purchased tickets only to find out that they wouldn’t allow “slip style” shoes. Asked for a refund and were told to address the website LOL, worse than an airline 😂😂
Mediocre sound quality and very cramped if the musician/artist is popular. Parking nearby is shady so park in a well populated area if you dont want your car to get broken into.
This girl was blacking out puking and falling, and they kicked her out and put her on the street. Wouldn’t even let her find her friends, just put her out there for anyone to grab and take advantage of. There’s so many other ways to deal with someone who’s acting like this especially a woman by herself. Also what kind of edm venue doesn’t allow flow toys, that’s always been a huge part of the scene . They have good artists but everything else is w h a c kReply to owner: it was kind of a while ago for 12th planet if that helps. And no they were literally telling the girl “we’re going to the street” and took her to the street, she didn’t want to go at all. My friend kept asking her “no wait dont take her to the street do you have friends here?” and she was so incoherent and not on this planet, couldn’t even respond and they kept escorting her outside anyways. She also was puking in the bathroom not on the floor, we followed her outside to make sure she was okay and she got kicked out. I’m not trying to attack your company with this review I’m just trying to warn other women going to this venue maybe I can help someone
This venue is horrible. Unfortunately, it seems to be a breeding ground for toxic masculinity. If you don’t want to be groped by a random dude on the dance floor, don’t go here. Stay safe, y’all!
Was told that I couldnt bring my nicotine vape pen in at the door to a concert I was attalending so I had to leave it in my car and also have to pay $5 to re enter Everytime I go out to smoke it. Yes they have a smoking patio but I didnt bring nasty cigarettes with me to smoke. Also cash only, REALLY!!
Basic shots were $10 each. Maybe this was higher than normal because it was New Year’s Eve
Amazing venue, people and sound. Some of my most memorable nights in Portland have been spent at 45 East and with the Red Cube family.
Great venue! Sound is amazing and they’re constantly changing to make it even better! Never had any issues at this club!
I come here at least once a month and tonight security told me I had to move from my spot I had been standing in at the front for over an hour because some chick and her boyfriend decided to come up and try to push me out. Where am I supposed to move during a sold out show? To the back? Super disappointed in Security team tonight.
45 east is such an awesome venue, amazing edm artists, great staff, super cool set up with two stages! Always good vibes there!
Came here for my first rave experience, Dirty Audio. I’ve come back several times sense. Party Thieves was the best! I was definitely a fan after seeing them.
Awesome little club! Great lights and sound! Great artist coming through every month and a full bar! Dope!
It’s a fun place and it has great sound. Definitely check it out if house and edm are your thing😃
The best shows for the cheapest prices in PDX!! Staff is friendly and enforces rules kindly! I’d go here every weekend if I could…. Oh wait! I DO!!!!! 11/10
Greasy mini warehouse club. Immaculate vibes. They get big names in a small venue that makes for a completely unique experience.
The outside didnt look like much but this was a rocking cool place!! The two level club with a bar and dance floor on each level was a blast
Great venue and awesome DJs. Easy coat check, 2 levels and an outdoor upstairs deck.
The sound is not the best but you will have a good time regardless. Recommend earplugs.
I really enjoy this place. it doesnt have a large dance they do have two bars and the lines to get drinks are very small. They have a bit of security there as well.
Really trash customer service. Cant believe some of the replies to these reviews. Also the crowds are normally stuck up people who dress to impress, expensive drinks, disgusting bathrooms, not handicap accessible, and is just a trash place.
Love this place! So many great artists, and tickets are usually inexpensive. Venue still needs some work, but I see improvements constantly being done. Keep it up!
Use to be good for blow pony, but was degrading before the transition to euphoria. Unannounced price increases. Worst case coats and umbrellas lost from coast check, best case very long waits.
The recent upgrades have transformed this space into one of the nicer nightclubs in Portland, but Im not typically a fan of the crowd at nightclubs, so I only find myself here for CANT MISS artists.
45 East brings in a wide variety of talent. Theres a taste for everyone. Great sound, great space. Never a bad time here!
I absolutely love this venue - their production is top notch and the drinks are great! This is the place to be for seeing your favorite electronic artists! ◡̈
Let the bass roll! Best EDM club experience in PDX
Amazing space!!!! Always have a great time and the staff is amazing!!!!! Good priced drink and never to much riff raff. This spot is is great for Portland!!!!
Atrocious excuse for a venue. Security accused friend of being to drunk who literally had a breathalyzer on him. Most likely profiled for having psychedelic clothing. Don’t support this venue
Always a great place to see some excellent electronic music, some of the best DJs in the world play here, ticket prices are reasonable and drinks are too, glad Portland has a club like this!
Its a club. Raniers(big can) run you about 5 bucks. I dont think they do food.
