I came here to see the Rocky horror picture show live, and the whole venue is just so wickedly cool. Because I was first online, I had the best seat in the house in my opinion, though I would not have been super keen if I was super close to the stage, like some of the seating was set. The venue is pretty intimate in a definitely felt like such a cool overall music vibe. I dont know what other events I would come to for this spot, but I would love to come back for whatever this venue holds. There is a minimum at least for my show when it came to drinks and food combined, and please forgive me because I forgot what that minimum was ($25 per person I think?). Keep in mind that there is a minimum for drinks and food on top of your ticket, depending on the event. Mine was during prime time on a Friday night. The reason the club sells food and beverages with a minimum at tables is to keep bringing live shows to NYC. Just allocate for it and it should be a great time!
I enjoyed the evening here. The architecture inside is beautiful, and my pics do not do it justice. There is almost a mini music museum upstairs. I highly recommend you wander up there sitting your visit. No one will mind.It is very dark inside in most areas, and this does make it difficult to see your food or the menu and even your bill. There are candles at each table. These do not help. I would suggest some small reading lamps. These can be very stylish and are very helpful to the customers.
After a busy week at work, one of my favorite ways to unwind is dancing! Last night marked my first visit to The Cutting Room, and overall, it was a mixed experience. The venue itself is spacious and wasn’t too crowded for this particular event, which I appreciated. The DJ played a decent mix of Bollywood music, but his remixes left something to be desired. He often cut off the best parts of the songs and abruptly switched to the next track, which was a bit disappointing. To top it off, the night ended with a series of sad romantic songs instead of energetic party tracks, which would have been a more fitting conclusion.A major downside was the lack of air conditioning. It was unbearably hot inside, and despite our repeated requests to the organizers to lower the temperature, nothing was done.South East Asians sweat a lot it’s a very known fact. You can’t have a room full of us without any AC!! It’s going to be a sweat-a-thon!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We went to see Abba tribute sung by broadway performers. We paid for bar room tickets which were $54. We got there half hour early and there was a slow moving line. We got in only to find there was no more room in the bar area. They overbooked. It was very annoying. The hostess went around looking for a place to put us. She finally said ok I can sit you in the main dining room. We found a table for two under the staircase. When I tell you it was hot in there, it’s an understatement. It must have been 90 degrees. I asked the server if they could have the ac turned up she said no and that she was used to it. Well, she may have been but I was not. Spent $54 for tickets to be drenched upon sitting is ridiculous. Then the server asked what we wanted to order. My friend said nothing right now as we had just had dinner at another venue. The server, Danielle rudely said well it’s $25 minimum per person at the tables so you’re going to pay either way. Then she stormed off. She came back and asked for a credit card to start a tab so, I ordered a Diet Coke. It was so hot in there you needed something to cool you off. I wonder if the temperature is kept hot on purpose to make people order more drinks. She came back a half hour later with my Diet Coke and two waters. I then ordered the brownie with ice cream and my friend ordered the ice cream. By the time it got to us the ice cream was melted. The brownie was Soso. My friend had to eat the ice cream like it was soup. As far as the Abba tribute is concerned 😦 all I can describe it as is Abba on tranquilizers. The songs were not sung with the energy of Abba. The songs were drawn out, I suppose in broadway fashion. Whatever it was, it was boring. The worst tribute show ever attended. I could even recognize some of the songs except , I recognized the lyrics after a while. I went there expecting to want to sing and get up and dance, instead I was yawning wanting to take a nap. 😴 what a waste of a night. Now, I know I will NEVER go there again. No air conditioner during a heatwave is totally unacceptable. I was happy to leave before the show ended just to get in my air conditioned car to get home and go to sleep after that boring show. Abba tribute , I think not.
My wife and I were visiting NYC with our 16 y.o. son, happened to be staying in a hotel across the street from The Cutting Room. Had no idea what it was, but we set out one evening to find some food and music and decided to check it out. The host was super friendly, and after hearing the band line-up that night, 4 different rock cover bands, and seeing we could get food as well, we stayed. The venue is really interesting inside, dark, with a very cool stage, electric guitar chandelier, and a good mix of tables and standing room near the bar (we did not check out the upstairs balcony). Our server was very attentive, and the food and cocktails were great. The bands were really good, playing a range of classic rock covers like they meant it. Great fun.My son noticed that the next night, the venue would be featuring a Yes tribute band; As a huge Yes fan from the 70s, one of the few positive traits I passed on to my son, we were both excited at the prospect of going back. My sons plans made it impossible for him to get to the venue in time, so we thought it would not work. I called The Cutting Room and spoke to a server named Danielle. She was amazingly friendly and helped us figure out a plan so we could be seated for dinner and our son could join us at our table when he arrived. She even reserved a table for us to ensure this would work. The evening was fantastic! My steak was cooked to perfection again, just like the night before, and even my wife, who was not a Yes fan, had a great time. There are so many things about this place that are just right: Great music, cool decor, not too big, not too small, tables if you want to order really good food, and a big open space and bar if you want to stand and move while taking in the music.Staff work really hard there, and the result is fully satisfying and memorable experience that was definitely a highlight of our NYC visit. Next time in NYC, we are definitely coming back!
If you have not been to the Cutting Room, you need to go . The decor is great The have some great shows. We have seen a Steely Dan cover band and recently saw Broadway Sings Queen. Both shows were very good. You can have dinner and drinks while you enjoy the show. Check out the schedule I’m sure you will find something you like.
Hidden gem!! We took our sons (ages 11 & 14) to see BROADWAY SINGS QUEEN - a tribute to the band QUEEN!! First, the show was AMAZING!! If you can spend the little extra for main seating - do it. You won’t be disappointed. The doors open an hour before the shows start and definitely get there early to get inside and selected your table. Even though main seating is a guaranteed seat - there are better tables than others for certain! The show we saw was truly special… I can’t imagine where else you’d be able to see so many Broadway stars in one night - unless it’s the Tony Awards (who has tickets to that event?!)!! One warning: be patient with the waitstaff!! All guests enter at the exact same time!! So everyone wants their drinks and food ordered at the exact same time. It’s not realistic. So be prepared to be patient and the servers will get to you. Once the rush of the first round of drinks is delivered - then the service is much better because the waitstaff isn’t stressed by hundreds of customers all needing to order at exactly the same time!! By the way - the food was DELICIOUS!! We had nachos, fresh guacamole, a cheese board, burgers, flatbread pizzas… everything was amazing!! Great night out and highly recommend!! P.S. If your ears are noise sensitive and you can’t handle loud places… wear ear plugs!! A couple next to us had to leave the show (too bad for them) because the music was loud. I felt sorry for them but also thought, “it’s a nightclub atmosphere with Broadway stars singing QUEEN music…AND you’re less than 10 feet away from the stage…ummm… what the fork did you expect?!?!”
Went to see The Moth. Crowded w barely any AC. Where are the fire exits? And I understand general admission, but the whole party should be here, not 1 person holding 4, 6 or 10 seats. People sitting all over. Doorway blocked. If a fire marshal came by, I am sure they would be fined.Heard good things about here. So far not impressed.
Awesome spot to watch a show. Seen the Queen show and it was great. Food was good and all the performers hung out at bar after so if you wanted to meet them. Have a drink and take some pictures you were able to. I thought that was kool of them. Great time
I went with a friend who knew one of the artists playing. She had a neat martini with olives, and I had the same with a twist. I had the fish tacos, which were very good and three per order so a decent amount of food. We enjoyed the show we came to see, and after that was dueling pianos, which was weird, hilarious, and lots of bad singing from the audience lol. I had one more drink, called “hot for teacher”, which was spicy and very good. The stuff behind the bar were really friendly and our waitress Amanda, during the show, was awesome.
Broadway Sings puts on an amazing show, and the Cutting Room is a perfect venue for this type of event. Went to see Broadway Sings Taylor Swift with my daughters and wife and we all had a great time. As an added bonus, the food and drink at the Cutting Room was quite good.
The Cutting Room is such an interesting venue and it was my first time here for a concert! Unfortunately dining was closed for the day but they still had the seating waitresses taking drink orders along with the bar. My friends and I actually didnt get dinner since we thought wed be eating here but they understood our situation and was very accommodating. They let us order and bring in food to eat during the concert!! That was so kind of them. I highly recommend checking this place out!
Cool place, good bar, nice drinks and service, but if you are there for a concert then your experience will depend on the organizers because the actual theater is just one open space, people are standing on top of each other and blocking the view of the people that are sitting at the expensive tables. Basically your experience will depend on the people that organize your event.
Pretty cool spot for late night Perpetual Groove. Ornate wood carved piece above the stage makes it look historic but not sure on the age of the place. Quirky & interesting spots throughout to explore and watch the show from. Was kind of hot inside so had to search for areas that are cooler. Decent beer selection. 4.5 stars.
Great place for dinner & show. Went to see violinist Demola. Awesome show. Had a mandatory $25 per person minimum per table above the price for this event, however was happy to pay our 2 burgers & 3 glases of wine came to $85. The burgers and fries were pretty good. The menu price is expected for Manhattan. Travel was easy via # 6 train.
Great service and atmosphere but I do hope they get the plumbing issues fixed soon!! Otherwise perfectly fine experience. acoustics pretty decent even for me, who is quite sensitive to loud sound : )
Great chicken wings and fries. Although they didn’t serve with ketchup (had to fetch a bottle at the bar) and salt. Because they are a bit understaffed to serve tables it’s a hassle to call a server whenever you need one. It’s pretty much luck and then you should try and order for as much as you will need in the next hour… The show was good. They are funny and interact plenty. My suggestion to better the show would be to have the players concentrate more on playing at a high level, and interact more with each other.. It’s called dueling pianos and I left under the impression that I saw two piano players taking turns to cater to the audience’s wishes, and not dueling each other at any time.
Updated:The venue itself was a cool spot. Good aesthetics, warm vibe and large venue size. This particular night they could have used more staff maybe as after first drinks we either had to hunt down a server, but more often had to go get drinks ourselves. Other than that the venue is a good spot to check out events.Remaining portion of review is of the event on the night: If you have plenty of money to burn on either paying for a song to be heard or buying enough drinks that you dont care about the prev fact, or that you also paid a cover to get in; then not bad. Kinda like if you paid a comedy show cover then had to pay for each joke. Or if you got through 60% of the joke someone could out pay you to stop the joke and go to another. That said the talent of playing and singing is solid. They do an alright job of entertaining while trying to get you to pay more money. They know a ton of songs and if you stay about 2 hrs or so you start to hear more songs almost fully through.
A few things you need to know. If youre seeing a 9:30pm show you cannot get there early to eat. Theres likely another show. The guy at the door is completely rude and not helpful at all. So you line up at 9pm and wait outside for 45 min to be let in. If you dont have a table on the lower level then stand at the bar because upstairs you wont see much. The food is fine but you wont get any until about 10:30pm. The server was very rude. The band was great, but nothing else was
Line opened late; it happens. Got a nice seat with good view of stage. NICE! It looks like the stage is viewable anywhere and there are large screen tvs showing event as well. The atmosphere is Rock and Roll with a guitar chandelier. I ordered a burger with fries which was very tasty. (a little expensive, but similar to the late great BB Kings in Time Square.). I will definitely go to more shows at this venue
Fantastic show! Loved the performances, the food and the ambience. Definitely going back again when they feature another one of my favorite artists music.
Great musical artists who did some great versions of traditional ABBA songs. Nice cozy venue to enjoy good live performances.
My 4 star is based on the venue, staff, food .We went to the show billed as Abba. I respect the performers talent and work ethics. However the advertising was billed as Full orchestra, no it was a BAND. it was billed as the music from Abba, no it wasnt. Totally different arrangements, at times the arrangements were dilevered In Jazz expression several time. As we were expecting actual Abba music we felt dupped and not enjoyable. For those seeking Abba tribute, Bergen Pac Englewood NJ, end of July. Just Sayin
I attended a live event last night at The Cutting Room, and I will never be returning. We all showed up to have a fun night out, and we were all treated poorly from the second we arrived. Fine, you dont care about your guests... I can accept that. However, They even treated the performers inappropriately in front of the guests. They sat us in the room, at dirty tables with no menus AS the performers were soundchecking.I watched the table next to me actually lift up the table cloth herself and shake the debris onto the floor. The sound was unacceptable. The show started late because the show before ran late and was cut short. Sure. Things happen. But, for the sound person to yell down on the mic to wrap it up??? Wild.If youre looking to book a show here.. Think twice. This was the most unprofessional behavior I have EVER witnessed by a venue.
The actual venue is awesome and has great vibes. This review is about their customer service. I tried inquiring about possible renting this venue out for a private Event and this guy Ethan picked up. He was either high or has zero communication skills (both?) . Gave me the run around and didnt answer any questions. Extremely odd behavior. It was so bad I literally thought I was getting pranked. I can not reccomend.
Nice spot. Watched a show. Had a nice time but was very disappointed before leaving after overhearing a waitress question a customer about the tip that was left. Asked if everything was OK because she felt her service was really good. That is unacceptable. It may be hard for some people to even go out and have a good time nowadays, let alone leave a big tip. A tip was left but obviously not good enough for this waitress. This was disappointing to hear. I would have corrected it alright. I would have removed the entire tip. Sorry but not cool and not acceptable!
Really fun! The Broadway Sings Queen was an incredible experience. It was amazing to sit was close to these incredibly talented and passionate performers.Table service was terrific, efficient and friendly. Food was good and prices were reasonable. Well organized venue! Will go again.
The music here is great but get here early because a lot of tables have no view of the stage at all. The food was horrible and took about 50 mins to arrive. Worst gumbo I have ever had. The flatbread and nachos are also bad. The waitress is very nice but she can’t cover like 10 tables on her own. Go get some good food at Koreatown then get in line early
I understand how hard it is to work them late shifts as a server but this place at this time had no more than maybe 40-50 ticket holder customers for a 10pm show which were seated in small groups, my group were 7. Amanda our server with the help of several others was friendly and attentive that much I do give her credit. The bill starts with a suggestion of 20%-25%-30% tip. Unconsciously we gave her based $25 tip instead of the recommend $30 tip. Amanda very aggressively went after my buddy asking if he made a mistake bill, she followed by buddy asking him to check the bill and also went to his wife as well, Amanda adamant about the extra $5. Amanda felt she was entitledto the extra $5, so what my group did was we gave her $60 tip in order to bring closure to a place we will never return. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere we really did but that experience really was unnecessary. So please be careful with Amanda folks and double check your tip
DO NOT COME HERE OR PUT A SHOW ON HERE. It’s a mess. They triple booked the shows. That’s right. THREE SHOWS happening at the same time on the same stage. Didn’t give refunds. Terribly rude. If you come here, the show won’t start anywhere on time and it will be 30 mins long. DONT.
Paris Chansons( lead singers Julia Kantor and Max Cohen) and a band. It was a pleasant evening to be with friends and listen to familiar songs from way when we were young... mostly by French artists like Aznavour, Dassin, Piaf, Dalida and some other European classics. If you are in your 20th or 30th, most likely its not your kind of music. The club itself is nicely decorated and the food was just ok.
Wish I could give it 4.5 stars but I have my reason for not giving it five stars.First off -- very cool venue with great acoustics and tasty food. Staff is friendly and they were accommodating to nut allergies which was a big plus.I actually bought tickets to a show here having no idea what this venue was or what to expect. I thought it was a standard theater with just seats and nothing else. But of course upon my arrival I learned that this is a theater with tables that requires a minimum $20 spend when attending shows which is no problem. Given the cost of the items here, getting to $20 is not difficult. However, because I thought it was a regular theater, I bought balcony tickets because they were cheaper and I typically have no issue sitting in the balcony for shows. It is worth noting though, that here, there are really only 2 or 3 tables in the balcony MAX with a good view. And that is not an exaggeration. The balcony has two sides, and the side I was on had 2 tables that had a decent view of the stage. The other side looked like it had just one.Fortunately, I arrived early and got one of those 3 tables. But the majority of tables in the balcony have literally no view of the stage whatsoever. You can hear everything perfectly of course, but you cant actually see the show. Thats pretty awful if you ask me and they should warn you of this when buying tickets. And even in the 2-3 good seats, the balcony not surprisingly has little bars below a bannister so you dont fall off as is standard but when you are sitting at the table, you have to look through the bars to see the stage. So even with a good view of the stage, it still isnt amazing. But looking between the bars obviously isnt a huge deal. I dont recommend purchasing balcony tickets for a show at this venue though, especially if you are not the type of person who arrives to things early.
Horrible venue, staff was very stressed and unprofessional, it was xmas show where we booked the main room seating which was front of stage, when we got there it was apparently free sesting 1st come 1st served. Then they made 3 other people sit with us on our table as they have overbooked the place. Our waitress was so stressed and rushing. Ruined our night to be honest.Food wasnt great, ordered the guacamole was disappointing notFresh tasted like it was already premixed in a jar. The chicken tacos tasted like frozen chicekn and the chicken was over cooked. Very limited food menu. Recommended only if u r coming here for drinks but nothing else
Came here for the first time to watch Broadway Sings Queen. Staff, prices and seating miserable. Would not recommend unless you love the band. The waitresses all seem to be overwhelmed barely acknowledging customers. No one was able to tell me who our server was or the appropriate way to order food! The food was terrible and terribly over priced! The live music was great but everything else sucked. Not worth the money. See the brunch priced BLTA w/ side of ff with everything but the Bacon!
Fantastic experience! Well worth the money. Got very hot in the venue so dress cool.
Very very fun experience! I really enjoyed Monday Night Magic; really strong magicians who put on a great show, not only on stage but also at your table. Really high quality talent, which left our table baffled many many times! Really highly recommended and very well done; Thank you for a truly magical evening, in every sense of the word.
Last night I had the immense pleasure of seeing Katy Kaden at The Cutting room,a most comfortable venue ,with great service and food. The staff was exceptional.I will follow Katy as often as humanly able! She tore the roof off that venue with her bold and subtle musical stylings. The crowd was exuberant, warm and kindMusic makes the world go round and unites us all. Thanks cutting room staff, maitred, sound man, waitresses!!!! I will definitely return to this venue to see a show of my choosing.
Dragon Squad entertains in The Cutting roomA great opportunity I had to actually entertain and do a martial arts demonstration as well as set up my table for HEIMLICHS karate and represent myself Charles Heimlich as an actor for Dragon Squad in our movie trailer presented at The Cutting room we had a great time The Cutting room is beautiful stage was a little smaller than I expected but we had an awesome time well over 300 guests came to see us I highly recommend you get a chance to go to The Cutting room
Fun shows and not too crowded or raucous. Last show only had 1 bartender working so took a very long time to get served, but Julian is super nice and was working **very** hard to keep up. It was also a bit hot in there as the A/C didnt seem able to keep up. The staff are all friendly and the space is fun and intimate for a show. The price for most shows is also pretty accessible. Will go again.
Nice ambiance and historic building. Band fantastic. Staff, prices and seating miserable. Would not recommend unless you love the band and want to be charged a ticket price and a minimum per person charge at table of 25$ that you find about once you go to the table.
Came here for a comedy show with my mother. Really cool place, beautiful atmosphere. The waiting staff works hard and fast, swinging by tables two or three times a performance. Really exceptional.
Went to see Broadway Sings Taylor Swift here. The venue was incredibly hot and dark. We also got seated at a table in a back corner with no view of the stage. The food was good, and they dont seem to actually enforce the $25 per person minimum. Our waitress was fantastic and very attentive.I dont think Id go back for a show, though.
Its abit expensive for what it is. We booked a table and we honestly dont know why, after around an hour it seemed like a free for all and if you book in advance you have to have a cheque totalling more than $25 dollars each person. Thats not a problem if everyone has that same rule which they dont appear to. We left half way through. $120 down from 4 drinks and a pizza. We honestly had a better night at Rudys Bar and Grill the night before and spent alot less!4 bands scheduled (we saw 3).
Amazing, amazing experience. The band and singers were amazing.Cant wait to go back!
Venue is great the ABBA cover band not so much!
We had dinner and saw a live act last night. The cutting room has been at this 32 st location for the past 5 years. It’s a really nice atmosphere inside, with lots of intimate tables nestled around a ample stage. Food was good. Pricing very fair. They had a local artist last night, Nick Fradiani, a talented young rock vocalist from Connecticut. He sang his own songs plus a few Phil Collins, etc. wish he would open his eyes more when singing as that would go a long way in his stage presence. He had a big crowd attend even tho the weather was snowy and cold.
As a musician and band leader I had the worst booking experience at The Cutting Room. Venue owner changed the starting time of our show, two days before the show, because he decided to take on a corporate dinner rental. We lost ticket sales and walk-in numbers because of the that. Also venue wasnt communicating properly, were constantly changing our sound check and load in times, in general were rude and never apologized for changing our show on the last minute notice. Musicians didnt get complimentary drinks or food. This venue exploits independent musicians and wouldnt recommend anyone to book there or go support this venue in any capacity.
Nice establishment. Has live music, good food and drink, and a very relaxing atmosphere.
The owner was very friendly. This location is a nice space for a small show. This food and the service leaves alot to be desired.
Excellent voices and great interpretations of the songs. So fun!
Great room and bartender. Thanks for letting us in to the show on standby.
Interesting venue. I loved the show but the sight lines are dreadful. I also don’t appreciate that there is a $25 min per table since one already purchased a (not cheap) ticket. Evening costs two of us about $250. Not as affordable as it is on paper.
PROS- Great shows, nice ambiance, food prices are fair for what it is.CONS- Dont go for the food; its comparable to a 3 star diner, tables are cramped together, drinks are short, service sucks when its packed, not enough wait staff. This is usually due to greedy owners. Our appitizers came with our entrees.
Wonderful experience from entry to exit. The waitress for the right balcony this evening was on point. She always came around to check on us never MIA. You guys do it right! Thank you for a wonderful evening! PS the sound for concerts is SPECTACULAR for a smaller venue. Seriously kudos to you guys!
A great room! Comfortable seating and all seats have a nice view of the stage.
Absolutely fantastic venue, so we decided this was the place we wanted for our wedding! We couldnt be happier. Steve & Susan were a pleasure to work with. They were attentive, responsive and caring. They were extremely helpful with suggestions and were exceptionally cooperative with all of our requests (which werent too crazy, btw, lol). Everyone raved about the food, the atmosphere and the staff. From start to finish, I had total confidence the event would go smoothly. And it most certainly did! A huge THANK YOU to The Cutting Room for making our special night extra super special!
Bought tickets to show and got there early and was given choice of the worst seats in the house. All front and center seats reserved for management friends. !Burger and music was good.
Old fashioned, comfortable club. Great night of music from the David Bowie alumni.Wish they are had more interesting artists
Great small venue. Good service, good sound
Have been there only once. Benefit concert of my husbands orthopedic surgeon in HSS Who has a band.small cozy place food is excellent. Service was very efficient.
Amazing venue and performances by the individual performers. The show seemed well rehearsed, and outstanding. Kudos to not only the performers but the organizers.
Fantastic! Beautiful & comfortable for having drinks or food esp while watching cool bands. Great bar w huge projector for viewing live cool bands. Not noisy for its own sake. Super well run in great neighborhood* Wonderful art, inc Beatles & the massive guitar chandelier will make your visit here xtra special*** 100% venue!!
Nice venu. The bar isnt exhorbantly expensive. The stage is high enough see over tall people and low enought to keep the band accessible. Cool woodwork adorns the stage. This feature definitely stood out to me
Although the dueling piano guys were really good the service is absolutely terrible. Got the for a 10 pm show that started closer to 11 and took over an hour to get our drinks. The waitress just kept saying they were making our drinks. Got up and went to the bar myself and got back to the table before the waitress finally came back with our first round of drinks. No apology and then she disappeared again for another 40 minutes. Terrible, terrible service. Go somewhere else!! Plenty of other entertainment in New York City!!
Was good, had a great view of the Irish performer that night. The sound system was okay and it would have gotten 4.5 or better had the drinks & food we ordered 30 minutes before the show started not come midway thru the first half of the show and after the endof the intermission respectively. Other than that it was fun.
It was very good to see and hear how talented people are.
5 Indian people we felt this place is racist!!!Would give zero stars if I would got there at 10pm with my group of 5 first it took 35 mins to get seat on the hostess came told us the last seats are the seats were all way in the corner in the balcony and just dipped didn’t even lead us to our table but lead everyone else. There were people who check in later and got seated earlier with better seats and got leaded to their tables.Paying $25 per a person to reserve a table for that kind of service is not worth it.
Such a fun space to enjoy the abundant talent in NYC!The musicians, singers and support staff are top notch.A memorable experience!
This is a very cool venue, i will be happy if anything I want to attend is hosted here. Also, the music that was played between acts was really good. I heard The Pretty Things and a Syd Barrett song, very happy about that
A cozy nightclub and separate bar. A special place that we always enjoy. Good shows and food. Great staff. Still a great place to visit. Lionel preformed tonight and was great. Our recent visit on Saturday was not so good. First, the event was Lionel. He was as good everThe problem was with the Cutting Room and its manager. It was a very cold night. We arrived at 6pm , the stated opening time. The manager stated they had an event going on and we were not allowed in,period, not even to sit at the bar and purchase drinks. The event they having ran over to after 7pm. We were allowed in around 710pm. The Lionel show did not start until 720pm. We did not order food. We do not like to eat while the show is on. Lionel cut his show short as the next show was going to start at 10p and needed to set up. Now here is the best part. The very same manager who would not let us in for the Lionel show, let in evey one for the show after Lionel. This was a very noisy crowd and it distracted from our show. A cold and nightTHIS WAS NOT RIGHT. GOODBYE CUTTING ROOM.Still havent gone back. They have am attitude.Show was great with Lionel!!!
Great entertainment, clear sound system and good audio engineer. The service leaves something desired if youre not part of a large group. Its quite fine that servers perfer larger tables over individuals or couples but my GF and I sat for over an hour after getting seated and drink order taken upon seating. The show was well on its way by the time drinks made it too our table as i watched every table around us getting seconds and third refills on drinks (simple pours and mixed). Mind I add we waited over and hour outside to make sure we got in at doors so we had plenty of time to get drinks so we didnt have to be interuppted during show time. Not enough servers/bartenders for a full house there it seemed. Still love the venue but there is opportunity for improvement.
Came here for a jam session featuring artists from Nashville. Great establishment with good food and vibe. Would definitely visit again. You gotta get there early if you want good seats.
It was 5 of us that came to the venue. 2 were our elderly parent. We came way ahead if time to get a table because we were told over the phone that they do not take reservations. There were no seats for 5 people and many tables had a reserved sign on them. So clearly we were misinformed about the no reservations. We finally found a very small table that was literally right next to the stage (touchinf g the stage with one side). We moved it away from the stage because it was right next to the speakers. A waitress came over and extremely rudely said we need to move it back where it was. Our aunt expkained that there were no other tables and that considering we paid fir the tickets, we should be able to sit where we can see and hear the show. The waitress had a horrendous attitude and just called someone who moved the tabke back with us still seating on our chairs. The waitress never came back to serve us. After 30 mins another waitress came. When she brought our drinks the made us TAKE IT FROM HER as opposed to putting it on our tables! We never got any water even after asking for it. At the end (wait for it) she brought our checks and when my friend did not include tip because of witresses rudness and bad service, she took my other friends receipt and added double tip to it and told her that because her friend refused to pay tip, SHE HAS TO PAY DOUBLE TIP FOR BOTH OF THEM NOW! I am not kidding! Needless to say, we are not going back. The venue itself was good, but not worth the aggrivation at all.
The show was so much fun. The piano players were very talented and had great sense of humors. Fun night had by all.
Great place for sure, so I rated it 5 stars. Wonderful food and service, and a great sound tech, however...... They are harboring a crack head waitress who WILL steal your camera equipment if you leave it unattended for 5 min. Im absolutely sure it has happened before because the owner covered for her with a story about the surveillance system not working. No one runs a night club in NYC with no working surveillance! They are entirely lucky that we didnt involve NYPD that night.
Fantastic venue. Decent food. All around great place. Favorite show - Broadway Sings!
Went for the dueling pianos. Great show and the venue was very pretty.Staff was very nice, but the show started more than an hour late meaning we had to wait in line outside for a long time. Then the staff was struggling managing the tables, water arrived 45 minutes after we sat.
Excellent performance venue, excellent artist lineup, and the food selection -- burgers, gumbo, chili, seafood, salads -- was quite good... especially when you expect bar food!Maybe my opinion is shaded coming off 16 months of not being out, but then, Ive been here before and also had a blast! The P. A. gets a little muddy when up very loud, but thats the kind of music you come to enjoy...
Great for a gig. The sound is decent and I love the chicken wings. You can find some really fun events here during the week and weekends.
I could not help but feel. Like I was witness to a hustle for $$$ .The talent spent the night simply trying to extort more money from the audience. Clearly they were very talented performers . I don’t think they played one song for more than 90 seconds the entire night. I want to feel like I was entertained and not a witness to extortion at some tourist trap.I think you can do much better in NYC .
This place is absolutely gorgeous,It’s a beautiful classy place. However, they could use for a better staff to compliment them even more. The first person you see to the door which I’m guessing is the hostess is extremely rude and made comments that were entirely incorrect. My friends host an event here and we were all treated with disrespect. The person in charge of tech was incredibly unprofessional, the waitresses were hard to hunt down, and as I said before the hostess was just a cherry on top for how unprofessional this place is ran. I think the only one that made sense here was Eric. Love how he’d come up with solutions instead of arguing back-and-forth. There’s more to this story but I think I made my point. Happy my friends will now take their business elsewhere.
Love the Cutting Room as a place to see live music. Comfortable nightclub setup, great stage and cozy ambience. I also have been surprised by the high quality of the food served, especially for music venue. It is as good as a fine restaurant no matter what I have ordered. Would give 5-,stars but the main drawback for me is that the noise from the bar patrons at times has interfered with the listening room experience.
Sound. Decor. Hospitality. Professionalism10/10Had a great time.Support live musicSupport live local music...even betterBistro seating. Food quality very good.I would return....
Went there for a show. Paid for a table seat. Only asked for two glass of ice water since it was super hot out and we didn’t feel like eating because the AC wasn’t strong enough in there. Water didn’t come until we asked for the second time which was half way into the show already. Female server gave a bit of an attitude. Maybe because we didn’t order any food? Was going to bring friends here for future shows and the Resturant itself. But the rude waitress ruined it. Such a shame!
Great Lighting, Ambience, Sound and the art deco type ceiling is the bomb. When the bubbles fall that is so nice. The drinks do the job. The selection of cocktails is kinda small in choice. Its a Great place and the staff are wonderful.
We have visited The Cutting Room with the show Dueling Pianos. Its been great. It hurts the lack of patience of the waitress who served us on the top floor. He yelled at us and since we have had some comprehension problem, he repeated things to us screaming and with a bad face. They should think that they live off all kinds of customers. He has taken a tip that was included in the price without deserving it.
The Cutting Rooms new venue leaves much to be desired. It may be great if you are sitting right there in front of the stage in the theater area but do NOT purchase standing room only tickets (the only ones left for the show we wanted to see) as there is no real location to stand and see the stage even semi comfortably. The upstairs area has mostly no space that you can see the show properly except if you want to stand in between people seated at tables about 5 feet away from the banister looking down at the stage (with the banister in the view). The back of the upstairs area could work if youre OK to look at a screen projection of the show. (They might as well stream that and charge a fee, itd feel the same). The bar area isnt much better and the sound there is not worth the price of admission as you feel completely disconnected from the performance and the bartenders racket is louder than the performers sound. Its silly.(But the bartenders were very nice and made great drinks)Make sure you look at the sitting chart if you insist on coming here and manage to score a seated ticket as there were people seated BEHIND the stage, literally looking at the back of the performer the whole time. They had to get up and walk to the front to be able to see the projections this particular performer was supporting his show with. I wonder how they felt about that. They did not look to happy seen from our grappled position against the wall in between the bottom of the stairs and the opening of the kitchen door.Shame on the Cutting Room for selling tickets that offer no proper way to see a show. Never again.
My daughter is a performance artist in New York City and she and Steve Walter, the owner of The Cutting Room, are best friends. She has performed there many times and we have gone there just for dinner many times. It is a wonderful atmosphere and a gorgeous venue. The food is awesome!
Very nice decor and great acoustics. When you walk in theres a chandelier made out of stained glass and Fender guitars. The music venue was relaxing with tables in a cozy theater. It was an inviting place to sit with friends and have conversation before and after the show. Even though I came here to see a specific musical act, I would go back again because I enjoyed the venue so much.
Went to a dueling piano show and got in and was seated. No one came by and people kept walking by our table helping other tables but never even acknowledged us. I finally went to the bar and the person said they were behind and hed get to us in a bit. We waited long and longer and finally got someone to help us, she seemed irritated but took our order. Finally we got the bar tender to stop by and ask if we wanted to order, we said we got someone to finally take our order. But when it arrived, it arrived in duplicate. Over priced single dessert, soda with a glass of wine. gave the waitress 50 for the 35 dollar tab and she was shocked I wanted change. She said well YOU OWE ME at least 20% and that is 7 dollars. I said bring me my change. She said HOW MUCH. said ok 10...left a few bucks since they are super greedy when they give bad service anyway in nyc it seems. Id never go back, rude, bad service. overpriced food. Show was irritating too. Venue seems nice but to deal with all that, Ill pass next time.
Get there early for the best seats! Definitely a great place to see a show - we saw a comedian. It was intimate and the food was good with generous portions. Staff was really helpful and friendly. We paid extra for seats in the front - I suggest doing this if you want seats in front of the stage. Each show is different, but there are no reserved seats so get there early for the best options.
I was on the list to get in. When I mentioned it to the hostess, she seemed like she didnt want to be bothered by me. Otherwise, a new bartend behind the bar, first night. Thought she did great and very nice. Her manager helped her a bit. He served me my food... Without utensils or napkin. Venue, otherwise, was good.
A great venue with great staff. Attention is paid to all the details to make an exceptional experience.
Great atmosphere, great karaoke band, and a great venue. I attended a closed party here so I cant comment about all aspects but I was really impressed with the layout, the bar, and the staff
Went there last night to see Peter Criss. Doors were supposed to open at 830. I got there at 820. I didnt get in until 945!! Had to wait an hr and 15 minutes just to get in for an earlier performance that was still going on!!! What idiot is managing and running this club? Completely and totally unacceptable!!! Never again!! Needless to say Peters and sisters doll performance was cut short!! Also you had to wait on that long line to buy a ticket which would also make people who already had one not a priority for good seating!! By the time dinner was served we were all starving!!
People are like family. So many great and talented musicians. Very intimate venue. Definitely check out.
We visited this restaurant for a concert. First, I will say something positive. The decor was gorgeous. We were prepared to eat dinner during the concert and we understood in advance that it would be pricey. The issue was the extremely rude, arrogant, and curt waitresses. When you are paying over $100 for a couple to eat on top of the price of the concert tickets, you would expect not to be treated like dirt. The food was ok, not good, not bad. It was about the quality of a discount chain restaurant. But here is the kicker, the restaurant manager stopped the show, told the band that their 2 hour limit was up and we were all ushered out of the restaurant. It was so bizarre.
Great place for dinner and a show, not a bad seat in the house, food was good and so were the drinks. Server was very nice and what we ordered came in a timely fashion. Only advice is, not sure if servers are told to fall back a little during the time the performance is going on, however we wanted to order more food and drinks and it took some time to track down the server who was in charge of our table. I felt as if the restaurant missed out on alot of drink and possibly food orders. Just a suggestion to management. Otherwise our evening was wonderful!
I went here for my favorite bands concert. The venue is very disappointing. Server was far from attentive and it took forever to get our order in which caused food being delivered to the table right as the concert started (an hour from being seated!). Food was overpriced and far from enjoyable.I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone but if youre to go there dont make my mistake and dont sit by the stage on the first floor - people would literally be dancing around you so you wont be able to see anything.
Its a very intimate spot where artists go to perform. They do have a dining area upstairs where you can get a good view of the stage and they also have a dining area on the first floor as well on the side of the stage. It was an awesome experience. We went to see Luke James.
Its a cool venue but the food is terrible and extremely overpriced. Service was also pretty bad. We arrived 50 minutes before the show but werent let in until right before it, when the whole crowd stormed in and wrestled for a seat. We were only able to sit in the balcony, where the rails were too high to see the stage. Despite there being a required food/drink minimum, we didnt get menus or a server until well into the show.
An amazing venue for live music. I heard some early rock and some older rock-n- roll tonight at this wonderful place.
Wonderful hosts to Thierrys and LAs milestone Birthday Jam! And all those musicians were great -- they should perform a concert series there 😉
Beautiful venue but, much better for intimate performances and not ones that youre gonna want to be on your feet for, the whole night. Sound was awfully distorted and I saw a band here who was amazing at the Gramercy Theatre. I really think the space was too small for that kind of loud, live performance.
Fabulous space. Excellent musicians! Wonderful performers. All this and Queen!!! What could be better?
I had a wonderful time. The sound was really good and the Band I saw tonight was great. The Food we had was good and well priced. And the Service was Excellent. I was not expecting such fast service it was nice. Thank you
All the performances were excellent. Very entertaining. The venue was great. Good service and food.
Ive seen Livingston Taylor here twice so far and I think the space is great. General seating fills up pretty quickly among shared tables so if you want to sit with your entire party be sure to be there early. On the flip side, I was by myself at a table for two along the front of the stage so sometimes tables arent shared depending on tickets sold. Food is delicious and staff was attentive without interrupting the show.
Went here for the fundraiser of the Davd Z foundation. Amazing event, and this place handled it so well. Great service even though the place was packed. Enjoyed some appetizers and libations. The bar is large and the backroom boasts a perfectly sized stage for live music.
My 11 yr old son had a Bass Guitar recital here. It a hidden gem. The atmosphere was so chill, reminded me of a Chicago speakeasy and an old Wild Western Saloon. Just a really wonderful place to listen to great music. Food is very pricey, but a great place to go and experience.
18+ plus months without a live show.I was so ready and excited for this nightThank you Cutting Room for bringing the fabulous ladies to entertain usThe venue is a wonderful setting. Go see a show and enjoy yourself for a evening
A great sounding venue with very large capacity and surprising class. Quirky and fun with guitar centric decor and a stratocaster shaped bar. A little bit pricey on drinks, but good luck finding any bar in this neighborhood for much cheaper.
Great, live music up close and personal is a lost treasure in NYC, but not at this place. If you keep your eyes out for specific performances you want to see, you can get great seats almost like the band is in your living room. If youre late in purchasing, not quite like that, but still a cool place to hear great music and get great food with a good selection of drinks. Also, very cool stuff on the walls and the best chandelier ever (made of real Fender guitars of various colors, etc). No wonder Howard Stern chose this place to broadcast the Billy Joel 60th birthday party celebration concert. I like it even just for a cool place to come eat and drink.
Drinks are not great. I had gin and tonic and the only flavor in my drink was cane sugar! Also the service is just OK, had to ask for water multiple times, bartender refused to change my $20 bill, etc
They dont have reserved seating. Have to get there early for good seats. Everyone crowds around entrance to enter room when they open. It is very hot. They dont crank up the a/c. Food & service not the best & very expensive. I would not return.
Dueling pianos is an amazing show, we had a lot of fun!We havent tried any food, the beers were good!
Good place to catch some surprisingly good local acts, but I could do without the nickel and diming. We went to cutting room to see a coworker perform with his band. Though scheduled to go on at 10:30, they took the stage closer to 11:30. We had to pay a $20 cover though the website mentioned only a $20 minimum. Apparently the bar has the minimum and a table for the performances has a cover. The drink selection was modest with only a few draft beers, about 3 mixed drinks and some wine. Food looked better than it tasted. The steak looked very good but was completely unseasoned. The bands were excellent and the accoustics in the room were very good. It could have been a little quieter as the amps were maxed to 11 and no table is more than 10 feet from the stage, but overall a very good place to catch some music, just be prepared for leaving your wallet.
This re-invented Cutting Room designed from the ground up with all the themes of music run amok. From the music notes along the bar and the guitar chandelier gives it a fun venue feel. The drinks are crazy priced as one can expect from a place like this and the food that comes out of the kitchen here is very good. The layout is a bit quirky so arrive early to get decent seat for show. The service is friendly and as a whole makes the experience enjoyable.
It was a very unfortunate night. We were looking forward to see legendary actor performance Ben Vereen we heard about. We invited friends from Boston and arrived an hour early to get seats. The event was extremely poorly organized. Not only there were no seats available so you can see the performance, we were told by manager that it’s our problem. The place is a restaurant with a minimum $20/person surcharge. Finally we found some seats and were excited to see the artist. The show supposed to start at 7:30. However, at 8:15 there were no announcement or anything indication when the performance will start. When I approached manager and asked him when it will start the answer was whenever artist will feel liked it. I was in shocked of such disrespect and ignorance. We had other arrangements later on and had no choice as to leave. We were not the only group who left. Others were leaving as well.If you ever have any events at Cutting Room Do Not go!
First, any venue offering live music and performance is vital, however, What chaos! Obviously the quality of the shows change but the layout of this place, awful. Get there for the removal of the room divider, are you kidding? Ever hear if curtains? My advice on food is keep it simple, stay away from the steak, the quality isnt there.
John Miller Quartet plus 3 were outstanding! The venue is an intimate opportunity to enjoy a show close up and personal. There is a minimum, but easy to reach ordering food or drink. Food is way better than one would think for this kind of service. Would go back next time in the city
Great venue for a show! Seating is all close and the food and drinks are great! Definitely recommended.
