Headline: views are spectacular, music has been good both times I’ve been, great space to dance or to just hang outDetails: I went during Halloween and during a weekend in June. Both times, the music was good (actual songs that people know, actual songs you can dance to, the crowd is hyped, etc — and you know how hard this can be to find). There’s a side terrace with views of the city that you can stand at and look even without a table. But most of the time I was inside — dancing, sitting at the bar or a table near the bar, it’s a great time. I like that there’s multiple bars and one that’s more quiet / that you can sit at to chill for a bit. Highly recommend.
Be aware that it is SO extra to enter the facility. For example it was room after room, and they kept checking your wrist for the stamp. The view here is also nice but it was SO packed. Difficult to even make it to the restroom. Went with a promotor and people kept trying to hop on our table. The margarita was about $24 and was not good. Overall it was fun because my boyfriend and friends made it fun.
Took my girlfriend here on a surprise after work date and she was totally amazed with the decor, rooftop view and cozy intimate feel. We ordered appetizers and drinks which delighted our palate. Service all around was great as the server remained attentive at all times. We highly recommend and will be back.
I found the management and customer service at this venue to be very poor and distasteful. My friends and I waited in line and were not acknowledged by the security or management. The bouncer did not even make eye contact with us (for over 5 minutes) or give us a status of the wait time. I believe we were discriminated against based on race. My friends and I are African American and we noticed that everyone who they allowed to enter happened to be white. The overly exclusive political nature of NY nightlife needs to end. Will not be returning.
Really cute rooftop. There is different part of the rooftop we’re you can see more or less of times square. We didn’t have a direct view of it but there is so much buildings around that we still got a great city view. The cocktails were so good too ! We tried several of them and we were not disappointed !!The food is amazing and really good. We took there famous flower dessert and it was so well made we were not expecting that much details ! You can even eat the flowers !!The only downside of it is of course the price that he is on the higher part but well… it’s New York I guess. Our waitress was a bit off too. She never came to our table and every time we had to call her since she was basically ignoring us… but still it was a nice experience.
I went there for private event. The view is great both before or after sunset. They got full-bar but unfortunately they ran out of mint on that they so I missed my mojito but the bartender make something else for me which is okay. The balcony of the bar can see Manhattans view and the sunset point.I do recommend to check the weather before your visit.
Amazing place to party in NYC, music was insane! Lots of fun. Note the demographics in here are early 20s to late or early 30s. I met someone in NYC who wasn’t thrilled about that, so you should be aware! Just be ready to stay in a long line to get to the rooftop- it could be exhausting but patience is everything x
Super nice views!!! Okay music depending on DJ. Last time we were here a woman and his boyfriend was walking around filming under girls skirts. Talked to security did not take it serious. So be vigilant when you are here!!
Here with some work cohorts. Security is visible and everywhere so it has a feeling of being secure. ID scans etc at the beginning more than TSA. Seemed like you had to know someone or network to get in.Nice views on the terrace levels. Better for conversation. Wasn’t exposed to pricing but I get the feeling it would have been on the pricey side.
Sadly I’m a victim of FAT SHAMMING and DISCRIMINATION from PHD Lounge. I was told they didn’t like “my look” and won’t be letting me in (it was a free night for ladies and someone I knew had a table and invited ME!). As a plus size black woman it was disappointing and disgusting to hear. I was dressed very classy. I drove all the way from New Jersey and was early. They made me wait over and hour and a half.***They were only letting white women into the club that barely even made an effort to dress upstairs .
It was fun, I came with a promoter and coat check employee was nice as well. They seem to care about the club. The view when you had up the lounge is absolute beautiful. The DJ played really good music for a Wednesday night but there wasnt a lot of people but it was still fun. The whole place is really great looking and there is plenty of dancing space and sit down areas as well. Would definitely recommend coming here and looking forward to coming back on a weekend with friends.
Extremely embarrassing going here. I have to take medicine with me to deal with a medical issue and their bouncer took my medicine bottle out of purse, shook it around and told me to check just the pill bottle. I understand tje stafety of their patrons but to do blatantly shake my medicine and call to attention that I have a medical issue is extremely embarrassing. To make it worse, that SAME bouncer prevented me from picking up my purse when we were ready to leave because he was checking people’s bags in the wrong area right in front of the coat check. What an embarrassing, terrible experience. Train your staff for better discretion and customer service.
I went here for my sister‘s birthday. We arrived, and they had people standing up in the lobby. It was an unfortunate situation because it was cold outside. There were no chairs or offers for people to be seated anywhere. We waited until something became available, even though we had reservations. I will say, however, that they had a very large area that could easily be turned into a sitting area and a coat area for spillover when people are waiting for reservations. The hostess was amiable and very gracious. The aforementioned is beyond our control, and she made every attempt to visit everybody and let them know and keep them updated on the reservation and their status. I’m disappointed because this place is lovely on the inside. As far as the food in the drinks is concerned, the drinks were OK. Some unique names are given to traditional cocktails. I like the spin that they put on the cocktails. However, the food left much to be desired, as well as the service. Overall, I think this place has tremendous potential. Still, I would not recommend it for any special occasion or night when they have something planned for anyone because you may be disappointed.Another thing to note is although I love Reggaeton music, many other patrons may not, and the venue made it very clear who their audience was. Despite the diverse demographic, the music catered to a specific audience. Our tab was about $900, and if we drop that much money in a place, it should at least be inclusive and provide us with a notable and memorable experience. As you can tell, I’m an avid reviewer, taking lots of pictures and videos. I did not have the best experience here, so needless to say. I only have personal photos and videos as we celebrated a birthday to document the occasion, not to review the venue. I hope that they take these comments and concerns into consideration and make adjustments because there is lots of money to be made in relationships to be built if they decide to make a shift.
Although the aesthetic is nice for a nightclub and bottle service is great (shoutout to the bottle girls). The first thing you are greeted with are rude bouncers and desk staff. I would like to specifially mention Peter who was probably the rudest bouncer I have met. Fire him. He puts first impressions for this place in the hole. People will walk away if they are greeted with someone like Peter and spend their money else where.
I really loved the Shad service! (I think spell like this). While the security guardians aren’t let me just go to the bathroom, he went to talk to them and helped me so much. I really just want to go to the bathroom and the guys didn’t want to let me go. so he talked with them and helped me… I’m so glad that he was there to help me do I’d like to thankful for his service.
Music was meh on a Saturday night. It’s hard to dance when you keep getting a dancing song then a karaoke song/slow song. But it wasn’t awful just not my cup of tea.
The view is just out of this world!Drinks are good, bartenders are nice, although I paid different prices for the same drink with different bartenders ( weird)Music is always great. Perfect dance night .Only complaint-the women bathroom is impossible small, and the line never ends.
What a treasure to find! Totally casual, 17 floors up to a beautiful view and a stunningly decorated rooftop experience. I love the sunflower entry to the bar. Lots of cozy, intimate seating. Friendly staff. Im sure its packed on the weekends but during the week, very quiet and peaceful. Views straight into times sq.
We have had the worst experience with the security of this place . RUDE. Marshal HIS NAME X We have had a reservation with PR TEAMS and he didn’t allow us to get in with camera. Even tho we were booked inside, this is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful!!!! Not WORTH GOING or even show up!!!!!!Like really disrespectful !!!!!!!!!
If I could give zero stars, I would. The staff and bouncers are super rude and disrespectful. Prices are outrageous and the place isn’t even worth the visit nor price.
Went here for halloweekend and had a great time with a couple friends. The bouncers pretty standard for regular night life but I appreciate their patience with us in trying to find one of my friends at the end of the night. In terms of the venue there could be room for better renovation. You cannot go here without a table/promoter and quite frankly there are too many tables (not enough room for dancing). The views are so pretty but the little patio is too cramped.
Long story short … RACIST , PREJUDICEattended last weekend with some colleagues. All expenses on the company. They didn’t allow us to pay with our AMEX, as per the manager “ they can only charge 300 on the card because we could possibly call and cancel the pending charges” …. Not spending a penny here ever again & advise others not do so as well . Very unprofessional
If you like the kind of place where you MUST be thin (stereotypically acceptable), wear what THEY want you to wear; a savanna environment where every male is hunting and the females are waiting and wanting to be hunted; then that’s your place.
Disappointing Experience: Rude Security and Unjust ChargesRating: 1/5 starsMy recent visit to PHD Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown left much to be desired. While the ambiance and location of the rooftop lounge were commendable, the overall experience was tarnished by the disrespectful behavior of the security staff and their attempt to impose unjustified charges on patrons.Upon arriving at the lounge, the security personnels attitude was shockingly rude and disrespectful. Their demeanor towards guests was unwelcoming, creating an unpleasant atmosphere right from the start. Their lack of professionalism and basic courtesy was disappointing, to say the least. A warm and inviting ambiance is crucial for any establishment, and sadly, this was sorely lacking. What truly marred the evening was the outrageous attempt to charge an excessive fee of $150 plus tips from every guest. This exorbitant charge was completely unexpected and unjustifiable, especially considering there was no prior information or clear explanation for such a fee. Such a practice is deceptive and exploitative, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of guests who expected transparency and fairness in pricing. While the rooftop setting and views were captivating, the unprofessional conduct of the security team and the attempted overcharging overshadowed any positive aspects of the lounge. Its deeply concerning when a venue prioritizes profit over guest satisfaction and integrity. In conclusion, I cannot recommend PHD Rooftop Lounge due to the disrespectful behavior of the security staff and their attempt to impose unfair charges on patrons. Management should address these issues promptly to ensure a welcoming atmosphere and fair practices for all guests.
It truly captures the essence of the NYC nightlife scene. The atmosphere is buzzing with energy and the view is absolutely stunning. The music was great, and its definitely a fun spot to hang out with friends. The vibe is definitely upscale and trendy, and its clear that the prices reflect that. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, as the prices are quite expensive.Getting in can also be a bit of a challenge, so its best to plan ahead and make reservations if possible or get in with a promoter. But if youre willing to deal with the crowds and spend the money, its definitely worth it for the experience.
Got a table, be ready to spend. We didn’t mingle with other groups, but it was a fun place and had good music that got everyone dancing. Can take really cute photos at the rooftop, and would be a good pre-game spot
I had a terrible experience at this place. The white security guard who handles the stamp was incredibly rude, and the venue was extremely overcrowded. It was a complete waste of time and money, and I would not recommend it to anyone. In fact, I would give it 0 stars if I could - 1 star is far too generous for this disappointment.
First and foremost, I am a dark skin Black American woman with an eclectic taste of music and lifestyle. I say this because I believe it contributed to my experience. This particular nightclub as I visited twice, always tries to compensate an urban feel by playing lackluster radio ear worms of the hip hop genre that they think will contribute to an urban/diverse environment. Does the total opposite as its majority of white people who attend. You’re better off at TAO. The Music and DJ are ridiculously boring. On top of that I was treated beyond poorly by the club staff on December 10th, 2023. It ruined my whole vibe. It began with a male worker who began to clear and set up a section with his team. This man KEPT bumping into my back and after a while that constant bumping started hurting me! I was no where near interrupting his working and constantly tried to move out of his way. So, I thought it strange he kept contacting my body. I’ve experienced being a server myself I could NEVER treat a customer this poorly. I HONESTLY think he was trying to assault me. I began to tell my friends to take heed on what he was doing and the worker began getting visibly agitated because of our awareness of his proximity. He then flags down a security guard and tells me to be removed. Mind you I don’t even believe he spoke fluent English. Just Spanish. However, I know a little Spanish so I was able to read his mouth and body language which was accusatory. I flagged down the same security guard and explained the situation clearly. The Guard told me if the male worker kept bothering me to report it again, because, this was common phenomena from this particular worker. The male worker after that verbal exchange, ceased his actions and left me alone for the rest of the night. Thank God.Another poor experience I had on the same night was visiting the women’s bathroom. Whatever attendant they have hired was disgustingly prejudice and rude! While on line my friends and I (black) watched this woman GREET and HAND paper towels out to every single white woman, Spanish woman, and Asian woman. When we gestured for a paper towel she grunted, made a gesture down to the counter for me and my friends to take it ourselves. Her face looked visibly upset and repulsed! While she was just smiling to everyone else. Mind you, this lady is an African woman with dark skin herself! I just didn’t understand the poor treatment and never will. Very disheartening and uncomfortable and I actually will never go there again. Just too much. I would like to be in spaces where I’m wanted and accepted.
During my recent visit to the PHD Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown, the experience was soured by the rude and very disrespectful security staff and their attempt to charge an unjustified fee of $150 per guest. The security teams disrespectful behavior created an unwelcoming atmosphere, and the unexpected, excessive fee lacked transparency and fairness. Despite the scenic views, the unprofessional conduct of the staff overshadowed any positives. I cannot recommend this lounge due to these issues and hope management addresses them for future guests sake.
Drinks are worth the money. If youre looking for a decent DJ, this is NOT the place. DJ seems like this is his first time playing. No flow, no style, no build up. Terrible ☹️ how do you go from Bad Bunny to AC/DC on a hard drop with no fade?
It was like a hell from the begining. Security was like a beggar, he constantly wanted to get tip. He was very rude. Actually he belongs to the streets where he can beg for money freely. Entrance fee is always changing, like 70-100-150 dollars. There must be just one price. Inside is so so. Overpriced. I recommend Le Bain. Le Bain has better view, nicer employees.
Was there last night. Overly crowded, too too too many people. We almost reserved the table that would cost around $800 minimum, thank god we did not. I saw people with table reserved didn’t even have little space to move their legs. They should definitely limit the number of entry at once.
Seems like a tourist scam. 64$ entry, rude staff, drinks with cheap alcohol, very small terrace. You will meet a lot of other tourist. Not worth at all to pay the entrance. There are way better venues in New York.
Went for a work event, was told my bicycle helmet was a weapon and not allowed to bring it in.
Don’t waste your time w/ bottle service here. Go to Le Bain or Tao next door next door for better white glove service depending on the night if you are getting table service. PHD will pay more attention to you if either you stay in the hotel or if you are a first timer. I came here to show my friends a good time because I had one the first time, won’t be frequenting here again.
I didn’t go inside but was turned off by the guys treatment at the door. A tall, lighter complexed guy with baldie got easily irritated by my line of question. He told me that myself and my one guest were required to have a $150 minimum bar tab. However the girl in front of me with two guests was also required to have a $150 minimum. But one single guy behind me was also required to have a $150 minimum. The math wasn’t matching and I was trying to figure out how he was coming up with his offers. But, he got annoyed. Lol. Experiences like this don’t entice you to return
Worst Experience after such a long time! This place definitely isn’t the place it used to be. Not only was the place dead on a Saturday Night, but the service was horrible. We had a group of 5, and when we got there, the doorman lied to us about, it being completely packed, and for that reason a table would be $2400. So my argument was, “But It looks Dead tho”. The doorman and staff assured us that the place was packed, and when we got up there, it was the worst I’ve ever seen any NYC lounge in a long time. DJ was horrible, Vibe was horrible and the staff was completely untrustworthy. Would never come back here again!
Absolutely terrible, staff pushed my fiance amd her friend aggressively and threatened to pull a gun on me.. absolutely horrible experience
These people demand that you spend as a single person $150 in bar consumption! This is highly unreasonable as people should drink in moderation and at their own pace! Also, they don’t display this information anywhere, they simply tell you that once you have reached the front of the line. Let’s talk about consideration of people’s time or the lack of. This place is a big joke!
Very expensive and no longer “the best of the best” in terms of scene, but still a beautiful venue and view.
Came to the second spot after the first spot and venue tried to charge $300 for bottles came to phd $118 for two tickets out of four group of girls with the promoter that told us to come here and told us he got us mind you I come here all the time and there’s groups going in free meanwhile they charge us . The issue is equality and treatment with nyc nightlife and hospitality services and promoters and venues and door people up front charging certain people .
Hate going to this place. Great view with little outside area. But music suxs and they are always trying to rip you off. Got a table for my bday they said $2500 then try to charge me $3200. Hope they go out of business
Music can be hit or miss. The club caters to preppy and wealthy. If going general admission for an event be prepared to wait at least an hour, or spend a pretty penny.

DONT COME HERE!! My recent experience at PHD Club in NY Downtown left me shocked, prompting me to issue a stern warning to potential visitors. The management and their bouncer, Bobby (if thats even his real name) displayed incompetence and disrespect throughout my entire visit. From the moment I approached the club entrance, I was met with an unwelcoming and hostile attitude from those bouncers, who seemed more interested in exerting their authority than providing a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons. I am a guest at the hotel and this is the first and last time I will be staying here.
This reminded me of clubbing in Dubai. The crowd was diverse, eclectic, international and vibrant! The DJ was also pretty good and the drinks were standard overpriced Manhattan cocktails with more ice and juice than alcohol. Id definitely suggest ordering bottle service or shots if you plan on drinking. I had a great time at the club-- I was just surprised that the security didnt check vaccination cards and some of the hotel employees werent wearing masks.
NASTY BOUNCER THAT SAYS NASTY DISRESPECTFUL THINGS TO WOMEN. HORRIBLE
Horrible place ! Do not go here! They charge dauble for each personThey ruined our nightThey asked up to pay$600 for two hoursI explained the situation and they did not back down.
Probably the worst club Ive ever been to. Period. Which is saying a lot.The entire experience is only for selling tables, moreso than any other club. Barely any room to dance, the entire venue is stuffed with couches and tables. Bouncers will kick you out of an empty table even if they arent prepping it for somebody who actually bought it. If you arent buying a table, there is no reason to be here, and you arent welcome, despite the outrageous cover and drink prices.
Rip off. They charge you $300 + adm fee + tip to get in (2pax) as minimum spending on drinks. I asked when they were closing because it was 1:30am already. They told me they close at 4AM and that we should have plenty of time to spend it and have fun.Little I know that at 2:15AM club was almost emptied and not even the DJ was playing music anymore. We ended up just having time to drink 2 drinks each. Not recommended.
Total rip off. They select guys who they think have money and charge $150. After signing they then demand you tip them 20% without even stepping in the venue and receiving service. Be careful if you enable them with your credit card into. They charge it without authorization. Totally shady. Avoid at all cost!
Highly recommend this place! The drinks are delicious, and the vibes are awesome. Great music, the terrace part is gorgeous!! Such a great view of the city, the flower wall is beautiful & the staff were super friendly. It’s a must see ☺️
Terrible service! Felt so unsafe & the most disrespectful, degrading “bouncer” iv ever encountered (besides that one guy trying to protect us) I was greeted upon walkin in phd then as soon as i refused to “get with bouncer” he started being so rude & disrespectful which there’s not much control over but as you can see phd won’t have my friends or I business again! he was being so hostile & aggressive for no reason ??
If you’re looking for an up-scale, trendy rooftop bar, this is the place! Little spendy and loud though. I’m a bit of an old soul, so I felt out of place there. Definitely caters to the Gen Z/TikTok/white chick vibe.
This spot wasn’t worth to money that they charge. The staff is unprofessional and unaccommodating. They did not escort my party to our table and when a drink was spilled they did not clean the mess we were left sitting at a wet table. Not to mention when we arrived our table was still dirty from the prior party before us and they seated us there either way with out sanitizing the table first.I would NOT recommend this spot to anyone I got extremely sick after leaving this spot I was unable to enjoy the rest of my night. The only reason I give it two stars was because of the DJ she took requested and played good music.
Great night club with an awesome view. I personally thought this was a lounge but its great for a night out. I will say the choice in music is a bit dated. There is a 150$ bar minimum for men that arent known patrons of the club.
My boss was trying to impress a new client so I told him to take them to PHD, it was a Sunday night and they still made him pay for a table even though the venue was at 20% occupancy. $1200 for some cheap champagne and very mediocre service, the DJ was absolutely garbage - would not stop interrupting the music and singing along, and then an hour later they tell us the club has to close. AT MIDNIGHT. That information should have been volunteered at the door before we agree to get a table with bottle service. Then on the way down I go to pick up my electric bike from the coat check and I find out the coat check guy was using it my bike to charge his phone. Unbelievable.
This is my 3rd time here for an event. The first 2 times I witnessed poor service. This time no a/c in July. No compensation. No apology. For an event that was booked months prior. I unfortunately feel this is personal against the same event. Which is full of financial employees. Heads of JP Morgan were here sweating. We heard the requests for the A/C denied via radio. Told by multiple employees its bc of our color the a/c was off to get us out of the building. Which is ridiculous! You will lose multiple clients. Piss poor service. Sad. Disgusting.
Terrible establishment and terrible attitudes from employees. The bald bouncer refused to take my ID even though it is real and i am a fully grown man. He actually broke my ID, keep in mind i am here on vacation and NEED my ID to get home… i talked to police and could’ve pressed charges, but i took the high road because clearly this “bouncer” needs this job and i didn’t want to cause any trouble for him. 0/10 review, never been treated like this before in my life.
Went here with some friends visiting and wanted to show them a great New York City experience, and this was a disaster of a venu. Maybe the rudest promoter/front staff to exist. The man “taking care” of us had an ego the size of the Empire State Building. The price was non negotiable even though we had discussed prior via email. Not to mention when we did finally get to the rooftop the music was non danceable and our server came to serve drinks ONE time. I WOULD NEVER WISH THIS PLACE ON MY WORST ENEMY. Stay as far away as possible from here. Go to Monarch Rooftop for 1/3 the price, better views, music, and experience!
Another beautiful rooftop lounge which for the winters may be a better option. Its not easy getting stamped unless youre ready to drop some serious money for a table and a few bottles. The views are beautiful with a nice dance floor, great DJ selections and a friendly staff. Being a group of about 12 people or so, we had to get the table. the table was small for the group, but whos there to sit and drink anyways.Be prepared to spend and have a fun time here...
Ok i was one guy and if youre not with at least 2 girls theyll force you to spend a minimum of $100 per person which is stupid if youre 2 men and a girl for example. But I did it alone, so the drinks are expensive about $17 for vodka/jack something but I dont get how you can spend $100 without getting completely wasted. Then the music is alright, nothing to complain really. The crowd is okay (was on a Thursday), the view is great although not amazing Ive seen better. The terrace is not that large and youre often stuck there. The security guys are nice although they think their bar is like a nuclear site to protect or something and it feels a bit ridiculous. Overall, the place isnt that big either, i mean i would go for $50 minimum spend but not $100. So if youre with many girls, its a good place to have 1-2 drinks for about an hour max. Otherwise, its a waste of money/alcohol.
Never in my life have I been treated with such condescension, disgust and discrimination at any establishment in New York city. It was downright embarrassing, uncalled for and really really ruined what was supposed to be a great night for my cousin who was visiting from out of town.I made a reservation at this establishment on May 19th for Saturday May 29th and was very excited to attend as my friends and I have frequented its sister location uptown. My friend, who arrived first was greeted with coldness by the security guard and told to wait outside in the cold. When my cousin and I arrived the security guard tried to dismiss us immediately which I thought was very strange. He looked at my email and said that I did not in fact have a reservation and that this happens all the time and we should just leave because we wont get in. I immediately asked to see the manager. I told him that the establishment at least needs to know that their system has glitches. When we went inside and tried to explain the situation instead of an immediate apology he kept cutting me off instead began to instruct us on how reservations are made. We were three adult females and this guy is explaining to us how to make a reservation in very child like terms and even went as far as acting out how to confirm with our own friend group. He told us that they should have called but they were short staffed. Then said we should have called (we did) but they have noone to answer the phone but he kept making everything our fault. All while other guests noticeably of a lighter complexion were never even stopped to be questioned about their reservation neither by the security guard nor the manager.I asked the manager if there is anything that he could do and he immediately, while giving a slight smirk said, We have no tables for you. Our tables start at $1500 tonight. This is when my friend said that he was racially profiling us. I didnt think it was possible but he became even more aggressive than he initially was telling my friend that he was old enough to be her father which he was not. It was clear we were already prejudged as too young and too far below the standard of this establishment to be let inside. Or at the very least, not good enough to be offered some kind of make good for our future business. He screamed at us and threatened to call the police on us for calling out his racial profiling.I too am a restaurant professional and I have never spoken to any guest the way that we were spoken to. I will NEVER give this restaurant group my money again. This is such a shame as I have had good experiences with the other location.
Worst hospitality that I have ever experienced in the industry! I’ve arrived expecting to pay general admission and was told there was a bar tab of $150 to enter in which I decided to do an add-on minimum of $600++. Once I was escorted upstairs to the table they were 86 on a regular bottle of Don Julio tequila reposado and añejo and a bunch of other bottles. The waitress and manager were kindly catering for the inconvenience which happened to happen on my birthday but since I decided not to purchase anything the female general manager came over saying I had to either do the add-on, the bar tab or leave. When I was interested in the bar tab it ballooned up to $400 minimum in which I didn’t agree on and was personally escorted out by the female general manger until I left the premises. Save yourself the trouble and don’t come to this place because they can’t even cater to the bottle menu they have and you have to purchase something you don’t want just so you can be there no matter the occasion.
The place is great, wonderful spot to enjoy the view of New York. As for the service, I might say that it needs a lot of work. Went there for my brothers birthday, and was basically request to order a thousands dollar bottle to only find out that we had an extra 300$ to pay. After giving them 4 different credits cards, the manager comes to us and says that our cards are declined and didnt know what game were playing... (After a moment of rudeness) Were able to withdraw cash from their ATM to pay off this added amount, just to find out that all our credit cards had been charged for the same amount ( and for some 3 same charges)
I wouldn’t recommend going there. They are unprofessional, when we arrived they didn’t even escort us or even tell us where we were suppose to go. When we got to the elevator the staff saw that we were going to take the wrong elevator and didn’t say anything to us until last minute because they were to busy talking to each other instead of doing there job. Food was horrible. Waitress weren’t on top of there tables we had to clean our messes and table. It’s not worth what we went over priced for bad service and bad experience. My party ended up getting sick afterwards. I won’t ever go here ever again. They try to take advantage of you because they think you’re unaware of what’s going on because you’re drunk they didn’t serve us the drinks we wanted they gave us different liquor then what we ordered and charged us for stuff we didn’t even order also a different party that was there said the same thing to us about them not serving them the right liquor they ordered like hello we know what our liquor taste like because that’s what we drink all the time. Won’t ever go there ever again.
Yuck, yuck, yuck! This may have been the worst rooftop bar I have ever been too.Bar service and bartenders were terrible, they could barely concentrate on drinks and customers. The crowd was terrible, filled with tons of rude and frankly obnoxiously drunk. People were so drunk they were sleeping on couches and puking on the floors. They boast this as some sort of club so we went to dance and have drinks. Theres no dance floor! Instead people are dancing in the aisles and its so jam packed you cant move without getting pushed and elbowed. Not recommended! Go somewhere better!
Pretty cool place and you cant beat the view. The atmosphere was awesome. The only disappointment was our bottle service girl. She was not attentive what so ever and we ended up having to make our own drinks the entire night.... gratuity was already included... other than that I loved the music and we danced the night away.
After an amazing dinner at TAO for my birthday I was told to go up to the Dream rooftop but the bouncers said minimum of $200! For just Myself and one friend, that is outrageous. We just wanted a nice cocktail, super upset.
Worst experience so far, we had a reservation, that was a disaster immediately, they lost our reservation info and everything went downhill from there
The rumors are true 😚 the door is super inconsistent here!! they pick and choose who can come in. if you don’t have a reservation or table, it’s like a free pass for them to be actively racist & sexist.came to celebrate a birthday on a friday nite with a group of predominately black friends & bouncers said we had to spend at least $2000 for a table! did not even look at our ID or vax card.soooo 🙃 my friend went back with another group of white passing people! and they let her in with no fee ! and said people confirmed they were not on the list!!!heard one of the bouncers was whispering to another to “assess body language”… y’all please don’t give them money, there’s more fun & less problematic places to go in nyc 💗🧚🏽♀️✨
I wouldn’t spend one penny at this establishment. I made a reservation for a photoshoot, showed up, and was turned away. I was told there is a separate process to take professional photos which is not listed on their website. Their problematic white manager made excuses and did not take my feedback in regards to them listing this information online. Instead of being understanding and accommodating, she refused to take responsibility for the business she works for, was condescending, and had me escorted out because she didn’t like what I had to say.
Great views! Very B&T crowd and average boom-boom house music. DJs think that if they turn up the base, they can get people to dance as opposed to playing good mixes to do so 🤔. You also need a dance crowd. Door was unfriendly too. Is there a reason for that? I only gave stars for the view. Overall, poor experience and we had pre-arranged bottle service...
I reserved a table with the manager Nicole for party of 12 for my bachelors party and agreed on 2000. When we got to the front door, the bouncers were power tripping and tried to stiff arm us into paying 3700 min instead. They were being racist and told us to leave if we were not going to pay. There are other good bars such as: 230 5th, Mr Purple, Arlo Nomad, Somewhere Nowhere, Castell. DO NOT COME HERE PLEASE.
Just got home, amazing time. Im speaking from a male perspective here and literally there was lines of woman going in all the way to when I was walking out. I couldnt believe I was leaving but I was a little sleepy after a long day of working. The place is off the hook. The views are great from the huge terrace. The hotel itself is awesome. Its a paradise for people who like to have a good time and party. There is a DJ in the lobby of the hotel when you walk in. Tonight was my first time and I love it. Will be back no question. I know some people complain about PHD being expensive but if you want to hang out in what looks like the set to a Puff Daddy video you have to pay. There are plenty of bars that serve alcohol but if your single and looking to mingle this is your place. Seriously I cant believe I left, the party was so official.
A man sexually assaulted my friend and I when we visited there. My friend was obviously upset from the man assaulting her too but WE were escorted out. When we were forcibly dragged to the lobby the manager, a short white man, was there. I tried telling him what happened and he told me to shut the f**k up. I became frustrated and upset and was removed roughly by the bouncers. The bouncer wouldnt let me go even when I was outside trying to explain that there was a man upstairs sexually assaulting women. The manager informed us he was calling the police on US. They refused to give us their names when we asked for them.We paid $200 to get into the bar, with an extra $100, and we were kicked out for being upset that a man was grabbing and touching women inappropriately in their club. This is unprofessional and is dangerous because it is silencing victims of assault. This couldve easily been handled but they thought it best to protect a man sexually assaulting women who paid to be in their club.
Visiting the city and wanted to go to some cool rooftop bar/club with some views, Great venue but the music was beyond terrible, they want you to pay a minimum of $150 + tip but they playing Katy Perry and Rihanna haha (I do music so that was such a let down) Would make a great electronic music venue tho. Drinks were also very bad, asked for tequila sunrise gave me tequila tonic. Go somewhere else!
Waited in line with my girlfriend and was told we had to spend a minimum of $200 because I am a guy and we didn’t have reservations. When I said no thanks, he offered to reduce it to $150. No thank you mark.
Nice atmosphere, food average and service about the same.
Wildly expensive Rooftop with an incredible demographic of well dressed people with first come first serve outdoor lounge tables. $20 a drink. 4/5 stars as a rooftop.
Nice view from this rooftop also inside its super nice. Not my favorite in terms of music and people but for a different night could work. The price are just too much if you take a table.
The worst play to get some beers the music sucks!
This place is overrated. Besides the skyline view there’s nothing special about it. Pretentious and overpriced. Extremely rude bouncers who enjoy talking down on guests. One of them insulted my friend on her bday. Terrible experience. There’s plenty of other bougie spots in NYC to visit with so much to offer. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
One star for the view down Broadway, only if you go out on the patio thou. Prices to be expected, being treated like a thief and rudeness, disappointing. They held my credit card, I guess OK, but during check out “I will give you back your credit card after you sign the receipt” she said and inspected every pen stroke while looking over my shoulder. Plenty of other over priced places, with views, in the area. The service can’t be worse elsewhere, I’ll take my chances. Not fond of only way in/out either. Oh, and plastic glasses ... $16 plastic glass of wine.
They are open from 10 pm on fridays, so don’t try to come at 9 pm and ask for 100$ deposit to sit at the bar or if you want a table then there must be at least 6 guests. While I was waiting for them to be open I spend an hour in the pub and was going to visit them at 10pm to have a one cocktail and leave!
DISCRIMINATION DISCRIMINATION!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER come back to this bar! I went last night with my parents, my boyfriends aunts, mother and grandma for my boyfriends event. They wouldnt allow any of them in because of their AGE!! They said it was because they werent following the dress code but they were letting girls in with booty shorts and my parents, my boyfriends family were all dressed up in heels, slacks, button downs and dress pants! They also said that we needed to buy bottle service!!We were waiting for a hour and a half to get stamped but no one would do it. Finally my family just said it was fine they didnt have to go upstairs to the bar area and left, they only would stamp my hand! I thought all of this was horrible, unprofessional and just rude!! My boyfriends family and my family came to this event to be treated with respect and we didnt get that everyone was treating us like peasants and they were very snobby. I dont understand how this bar is still open and in business by the way they treat their customers. I was very disappointed with that and their drink prices as well. We will NEVER be going back to the Phd lounge AGAIN!
Prejudice against tattooed peopleI wasnt allowed service after I took my jacket out, even though I was welcomed for an event. It seems that having many tattoos is something they dont allow in the place, so you get an unbased complaint and get kicked out.Never stepping at the place and none should, to be honest.
Views great, music - fine, early 2000 nostalgic beat hits. Guys have a $100 drink minimum each, which is obnoxious, but OK. Then, even if you get a table ,the security can tell you stand over there or I will escort you out if you stand 1 ft away from another table, which is deemed too close. Not sloppy dancing, not drunk, just standing & talking. The couple at the table that complained had 2 bussers and 2 security guys surrounding them, just pushing people around. Its a get down kinda place, not an elite club. People are everywhere, its busy. This treatment was unnecessary, and is enough for me and my friends to never come back. Not your good spirited night out in New York place.
I would not recommend this place at all. The manager was rude and unprofessional. He was condescending, speaking down on my cousin and her friend while I was visiting from out of town. The manager was screaming at us as he was telling us to leave all because my cousin out in a request for a reservation and no one had gotten back to her to confirm or not confirm the reservation. The manager himself said they were short staffed and had no one to answer the phone, so we were unable to get in touch with anyone. The security was also rude. This establishment is not worth it. I’ve never been disrespected like this in my LIFE! Do not recommend!!
Nice for a vybe with friends solo or coupled up!
They lie at the door step telling you ball park estimate prices. Told us my group of 9 had to pay a 6,000 dollar cover for full meal service, and you had to pay that 6K before getting upstairs to the bar. A group of four girls (thots) after me.. bouncer told them needed to spend at least $150 which is entirely reasonable. If you dont have enough room for a large party, tell us. You arent studio 54, stop trying to act like it.
I would give them a 0 if it were possible. My friend and I were going to meet a couple of friends there at the roof top and the door man or bouncer (whoever decides who gets on or not) told us that we couldnt get in because it was only guest list and tables tonight We stayed in the hotel to wait for our friends and let them know. However next time we heard from them they got stamped and were able to go in. I went back to this bald headed, chubby white bouncer in a striped shirt asking him why he let our friends in but not us he had the audacity to blatantly ignore me and act as if I wasnt talking to him, while I was literally in front of him. After he kept ignoring me I politely told him to F off and left... Weird thing is they let me in a couple of days ago.
My boyfriend and I had a fabulous night at Tao to continue on to have drinks at PH-D to be greeted by rude door staff !!!.. To then he told $200 min spend if not just have a drink at the lobby bar!!.., this wasnt what we wanted and after a long cab ride to PhD , got another cab home as totally put a downer on our night wasted $40!!... Im from the uk visiting and will never visit this place again !!... Was looking forward to a good night !! U.K. Culture yes we book tables etc however your still welcome to just a few drinks ! I just didnt want to have to spend $200 on demand!!! Rude bad attitude door staff dont do places justice or make them more appealing!!
20 bucks for a tequila shot. Even for NYC rooftop bars thats insane. PHD Midtown has a much nicer outdoor area; go there instead. View isnt amazing either.
Really beautiful views and upscale environment, but you want to know the right nights to go because it can get a bit sloppy/douchey if it’s too busy. For NYC, TAO group knows how to make a beautiful, well maintained club.If you’re visiting the city it’s a definite destination for the atmosphere and views of the skyline alone (a beautiful balcony and floor to ceiling windows). If you’re a local, ask around what the better nights are (I’d say weekdays because it’s more industry people and models vs weekend warriors), but usually expect a finance guy, mid 20s-mid 30s professionals crowd. Not too snobby, but not low key either. Dress code is upscale, but don’t wear anything you wouldn’t want a drink spilled on.Overall, one of the nicer clubs in the city for a classy night of drinks and dancing, but not much of a culture or vibe. You’ll make your own fun, music is typical pop/hip hop (nothing special), crowd is decent, safe for a work party kind of spot.
If youre looking for breathtaking views of the New York skyline, look no further. Even on a foggy night, the views were magical. We went on a Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday. Even on a Tuesday, the staff makes a big to-do about guest lists, being escorted up, and tables. This definitely isnt a low-key place to go hang out. Guests were dressed in hip club attire. The drinks were expensive, but the prices on food were fair. The pinot grigio available by the glass on the menu was phenomenal, as was the avocado toast, which had jalepenos and was pre cut to share. Most other sharing pieces came in threes, so for a group of four, they recommended ordering two. The music was mid-2000s hip-hop, which was a fun throwback. Theres a deck open outback for two things: taking skyline pictures or smoking. The crowd poured in around midnight at which point it was time for me to go home!
Worst service ever. No bag is allowed. The security told us we have to check in our bags. We went to the cloth check. One of our friends gave her backpack. I had a shopping bag with me but she said she cannot put them together and we have to pay a fee for each bag separately. Then we said we dont want to go the place then, give our bag and the money we gave you. She said I cannot give the money back! Even though we have not left the place and not used any services. We asked to talk to the manager. The lady in charge said there is no manager, Im the boss here! We insisted for an hour to talk with manager but she refused. The security guy who was there also told us there is no manager here and she is the boss! After one hour discussion, she called the manager and put us through. I told the manager that the cloth check lady told us that she is the boss. The manager got mad about her, although the manager is she is following the rules and she cannot refund us if we left the booze after checking the bag. We said we have not left the booze at all! Then she changed her word and said actually it is not a matter of leaving the booze, if you gave the money there is no refund! So we were about to leave. Then a lady came. She starter flirting with the the security guy and the security guy didnt ask her to check in her backpack and let her through! Another example of following the rules! Never ever gonna go back; neither should you
While staying at the Dream Hotel, we got to skip the line and no cover charge. It was a blast ! Amazing views, the vibe was cool, we met awesome people, we danced and danced. So much fun. It was a night to remember.... or mostly remember!
Is not worth to have a nice view and have so many frustrations over there. This place definitely do not represent New York classy night style. You must go there If you dont mind to wait 30 minutes to get in the bathroom and dance with everyone bump into you but if you have a sense of class you are going to hate this place . Girls, pay close attention to the reviews where other girls complained about being assaulted and have any consideration from the staff.PHD you can do it better! Please train your staff and find out a way for the use of the bathrooms be more efficient.
I forgot the name of this bar, but just remembered recently. I regularly go to rooftops in NYC and get a table reservation with bottle service ahead of time, as the case was here. I had been here for a drink once before and decided I would try to come here for an event. If I had a reservation and was paying $600+ for my table, why would I need to wait for my other 12 friends to come? This happened to have happened on my birthday last summer and I was standing in the lobby for 25 minutes before I decided to leave and have one of my friends get us a table at Tao which ended up working out better for everyone. But the people at the front who were controlling who they let in were very rude. I told the man that I was willing to pay my $600 fee as long as I got to get in and sit at my table that I had made a RESERVATION for weeks ago and he dismissed my request and didnt acknowledge me afterwards. Im so glad I left and will never be bringing my money/business here ever again and will literally tell everyone I know to stay away as there are literally thousands of other rooftops in NYC that Ive never had a problem with like this lol. If I can sum up the staff and professionalism of this ROOFTOP BAR not ROOFTOP NIGHT CLUB it would be: RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, UNRESPONSIVE, LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ON THEIR OWN POLICY, and LONG LINES FOR NO REASON.All in all try to avoid coming here UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIT OVER A HALF HOUR FOR AN UNIMPRESSIVE ROOFTOP LOUNGE.
They make you pay what ever they feel like at the door. Sometimes is not even that great of a place to be at. Just like I said. Be aware that if you come with a group of friends they will try to charge you thousands (depending on the night and how the bouncer feels like charging). Better go to other places in midtown.
Had the most horrific night at this bar last night. The bouncers and supervisors were extremely rude and be-littling to my friends and I and refused to let us enter the club regardless of my table and some friends already upstairs. The bouncers had the audacity to insult and accuse my friend of being undocumented. This racism is unacceptable. No-one should be judged by looks or an accent. I cant believe this place is still running with staff like this. I will never come back here.
A girl who went ahead and kissed the bouncer got in for free. 3 guys well dressed and behaved didnt get to enter. And me and a friend of mine were asked to pay 150$ to enter. Some nonsense entry policy going in there.
SCAM SCAM SCAM purchased tickets for an event and was denied by security because he first said we were acting “irate” and then said our real IDs were fake. Get this- they were all NYC and NJ IDs- not like we were even from some random far away state. Didn’t scan them or try to verify them using a credit card or anything. We requested to speak to a manger to which they refused us and threatened that “we better leave the property or else.” Then when we tried to get a refund through the ticket website which they told us to do the ticket website reached out to PHD and the refund was denied because PHD claimed we couldn’t show proper IDs. Having a bouncer with a horrible attitude that cannot tell a real ID from a fake one is a real problem and this club should not be allowed to operate like this and scam people out of their money. If I could give negative stars I would, will never be coming here again!
This is a cute rooftop! Not the most affordable place but really lovely. Great aesthetic. Not particularly rememberable food or drinks but a nice place for a date or girls night.
I dont think Ill be coming here again. The guys in front of us agreed to a $150 bar tab each to get in which shouldnt be hard to hit when theyre charging $19 for a vodka soda and $12 for a beer. The DJ technically wasnt very good but played decent music. With how packed it was there wasnt a ton of room to dance. Im glad I got in for free otherwise I would be terribly disappointed.
I have been to this establishment several times in the pass and thought it was just ok. My one star rating is do to the obnoxious staff, on arrival I was told by the doorman that to be let in I would have to pay him $300, I told him I have been to PHD several times in the pass and never had to pay, also I was there for a small birthday celebration. After I refused to shell out the money he called me cheap and stated that he couldn’t help me if I didn’t pay. After this I asked to speak to a manager and was denied, I asked why the 5 women I brought with me didn’t have to pay a dime, they had no answer. Avoid this place at all cost, there are tons of clubs you can attend in nyc with out being harassed, and have a great time.
Big hype, not a great place to take a date, and if your single a lot of pretty girls are paid to be there so you buy them expensive drinks as they working for the club. Location location location. The food downstairs, same owner, Tao is good, they use perfect sauces on there specialty rolls. And the sushi is done right.
Terrible experience, Id give zero stars if I could. Charging whatever they felt like at random. First it was $200 drink tab each. Then later $100 then later it was ladies free guys $150, mind you 2 of our friends got in absolutely free 30 mins prior. Never doing that again, the lady at the door was trying to get over.
I had very bad experience. They was rude with me and didn’t serve because I said I’m from Russia.I living in USA 7 years. It is discrimination!I just said true. Why I have to lying where I’m from? When I try to complain for manager he said “so what? You gonna give me problems?”Very sad. You guys so angry!
Been here several times before; while staying at the dream hotel for the week. Usually I would get stamped for free to go upstairs to the rooftop lounge by a lovely tall lady -- because I am spending thousands of dollars here at this hotel. This time, the new guy at the door, wanted me and my co-workers to open up $150 drink tab each -- on a freakin Tuesday! Most of us dont drink. And according to the older doormen and the hotel desk staff, this new bouncer was just being difficult to us because he was new. My company is literally spending tens of thousands of dollars for us to stay here; and this is how we are treated? Will definitely consider booking at a different hotel during my next stay. This was one of the main reasons why my company booked this hotel in the first place...
This rooftop has an amazing view over NYC skyline, both uptown and downtown. The music is cool, the drinks tastes amazing and the atmosphere is great. I had a blast last time I was there, dancing and drinking! Really recommend it as a place to go and have drinks, before you hit the nightlife later.
I went for Halloween weekend. It was very crowded but since my group and I reserved a table the service was good.
The bar was nice but the coat check was ridiculous. When I say it was ridiculous...it was ridiculous. They didnt give us the same number of tickets as the jackets and then had the audacity to say they did. This was followed up by showing another jacket that wasnt mine and insisting after they found my jacket that it was the original jacket shown. They never would say sorry...it was just constant arguing about it was the first jacket shown. The manager was a joke and I would rate him rude at best...complete and utter jerks. My friend lost her cardigan the same night and all he would say was they are not responsible for the jacket inside of a jacket...chances are the chunky guy that was so rude is running NYC in a womens Calvin cline horizontal cardigan looking like a hot mess. Club was crowded and cool but wont go back unless jacket free.
$600 just to sit down. Not exaggerating. Predatory. Join me in teaching these people a lesson: you cant just charge whatever and expect to stay in business. They list several bottles of wine and tequila for $14,000. These are $140 bottles tops. You cant mark up 100 times. The worst part? No food. They had no food. Only on Wednesdays. Pro tip: if youre going to charge $600 for a table, order a stupid pie from Dominos and serve that!
One of the better rooftop bars in meatpacking. Get there early to avoid what all the other reviews mentioned about lines, coat service etc. Views are great and they make some decent cocktails. Price is up there.
Great Looking Club, great view of the city, good looking crowd, here is the catch, they make you wait about 20 minutes outside in line, after you are finally in the building lobby, depending on how you look, how you are dress and wether the bouncer thinks you are capable or not, they tell you there is a 200, 300 or 500 bar tab minimum, so most people after waiting in line say “Fine”. So after you agree, They grab your credit card they make you sign and they take you upstairs, they give your CC to the bartender who opens a tab you may not entirely drink and doesnt give you your CC until you are completely wasted. Most of the people just leave 100, 200 dollars behind cause they are completely drunk. I’m not sure if this is legal but watch out, not everybody gets the same amount charge some dont need to place a tab.
I was there two nights (Wednesday) ago. The guy by the door is a jerk. I understand minimum spends and differential pricing (men vs women) but there is also differential pricing between men - not sure on what basis. Minimim charge for one male can be $x and for another it can be $y depending on his mood. He might answer a question and just walk away and ignore you waiting for a line to build up even if the place is empty. Your tab will be locked with one of the three bars they have in there and you cant use your minimum spend on another bar in the venue. The place itself is ok and nothing special. Save you money and dignity and go elsewhere. Its less of a lounge and more of small cramped bottle service place. If thats your thing then go for it.
Doesnt matter if you are dressed up etc, the doormans discretion is still the best way to turn away potential guests of the space even if you are a guest of the Dream Hotel based on looks (gender, size, skin tone, etc.) based on how marketable you are to their preferences. And we all know what that means. They price how much you have to spend in the most unpalatable way. PHD - Please upHold Discemination aka continue to uphold the European model standards.
I don’t know what it is about this place but every time I go here the front desk turns me off. From the bald guy looking and talking at people like they’re garbage to the monotone girls taking the credit card information i just always end up saying you know what, I’m not spending my money here. 1st impressions are important and the face of this place gives off snooty & disrespectful. I’ve never made up upstairs to review the actual place itself - a shame.
Beautiful views!!! Instagram worthy pics of New York skyline. Nice place to take your friends. Black people friendly, jeans on women (friend wore snug jeans paired nicely with a cute top) allowed. Did not try drinks, cannot comment. Only flaw was that music was not up to date! Why is “shake that laffy taffy” playing on a Friday night? Can we get the top 40 in here? Otherwise decent place
A great lounge with amazing views of the city. My friends and I went for a benefit and ended up hanging out outside at one of their tables with the most incredible views. Good drinks and company. Fun place for after work as well as on the weekends.
PH-D has a fabulous view and is an overall excellent nightclub. However, I take off one star because many members of their staff (from bartenders to doormen to security) are known to be rude to patrons, and I have personally had unpleasant interactions despite bringing repeat business.
Good place , Great vibes , views , Music but a horrible doormen. No matter how much money you spend with them they don’t tend to recall and a party for one $150 for their personal pocket, It ain’t a Taj Mahal we going too upstairs. Seriously the management needs to be stopped or this won’t end well for the company. These are definitely not getting my table business at this location.
The worst place ever.please don’t go.the manager is very unprofessional and talking with a disrespectful way for no reason.he was asking for deposit of 100$ for having a place at the bar.people was very mad and disappointed leaving the place.worst hospitality and ever.I don’t recommend this place. When I just got he was in problem with a costumer because he left out for something and he didn’t let him again. He was refusing people that bought online tickets. And he keeps asking for moneyDon’t go
Deff overpriced drinks. I came here with wife after dinner, 2 drinks were almost half the price of our dinner bill. Place is cool, but not sure its worth it. Music too low, outside area was limited to a 4x6 corner in the back.
Awesome view of the city and empire state building.Elevator takes you up, and you enter some tables and lounge couches for your group to sit in. Depending on the night, it can get crowded with pretentious lounge goers standing around people watching.Almost every night I come here, it felt like I was at a school dance, groups of people sticking only to each other, and a tiny dance area in front of the elevated DJ booth, and everyone else just sticks to the side. Cant really blame people for this, the way its designed and where the tables and couches are located, it hard to really network with people. Space is tight and you have to literally jump around people to get through.Bathroom is tiny but attendant is super cool, keeps saying thank you for coming, you look good, he keep saying all these compliments.. Im sure its what he gets paid to do, but it got a little too creepy they way he said it....but he was saying it to everyone taking a leak. Theres cologne if you need to respray yourself in the bathroom.Good place to come with groups though, if youre single and ready to mingle, you might have better luck elsewhere.
Left a cell phone behind and was told by staff at front door I could not go upstairs at 10PM to look for it. I was told my stamp expired and I needed to wait. Super unprofessional additional staff told me I could not go upstairs by a man with a beard on a power trip when questioned as to what the big deal was. Out of all the places in town. Why would I ever go back? Staff was unprofessional and unorganized.
Horrendous! Me and my girls pre-paid to go here for NYE from the UK. Queues were an hour long, clock room couldn’t hold any coats, no seating area. People are like sardines in a tin. Entry fee $200. Awful service and staff are rude. Views aren’t that great either.
We sat at the table for about 40mins and no one came over to take our order. I asked the server if they do not serve the table in that area, he said yes but they were busy serving everyone else around us. This place is antiquated and the vibes is very sad and underwhelming.
Food: Excellent.Space: Rooftop bar! Really beautiful views of the NYC skyline! On the outer banks its really narrow. The interior is small, but doesnt prevent people from dancing on tables and the lounge booths!Scene: Sexy and sleek rooftop bar. Open and conducive to mixing and mingling. Good for get-togethers and date night.Crowd: 20-40s Afterwork crowd. Pick-up scene. Mostly trendy and people watching scene.Service: Ok. It does get packed, so youll have slower service. Unless you are ordering >$1500 bottles :) When that happens, you can watch the staff dance with the patrons who just ordered it :)
Amazing place! I went there alone ,they immediately let me in, view is amazing, people is nice, no tourists, music is good and prices are ok for a place like that.I did not pay anything at the entrance even if,a guy, told me he had to pay 150 dollars. Average age is 25-45.Average cocktail price is 20 dollars.
I showed up to the W55th location last night for my rooftop reservation for two. I showed the gentleman my confirmation email and he told me that I was actually supposed to be at the downtown location. I was so confused, because the email had the W55th St address. He said he would call the downtown PhD and let them know we were coming. Okay fine, we got back on train and went to the downtown location. We arrived and the gentleman there said, “No, you’re supposed to be at W55th. I don’t know why they sent you here. We’re completely booked up.” I’m a really patient person, but this runaround made me so mad. Fix your system! I should have had a reservation at one of these locations. Why was I turned away from both? Huge waste of time!
The skyline is definitely the draw of this high energy club/lounge. The crowd is semi-mixed, mostly Asian/White, as well as men outfitted in their best to impress and women who look like they all work in fashion. Its not your everyday club/lounge but its nice to go once just to check it out. Strict door policy.
PH-D has amazing views. Get there early and enjoy nice cocktail. I went there on 7/24/15 with the Rooftop Tour and I had an wonderful time. I will definitely return when Im in New York.
Didn’t get in as we only had ID cards on us and not a passport. Never heard of that rule and we were fine at other clubs. The bouncer was very short with us and then just left us standing in the cold ignoring our questions.Disappointing!!
1 star is actually way too much. The bouncer told me I wasn’t pretty enough to get in. Asked me 150 bucks. That’s not how you treat customers.#letuglypeopleparty!
I called and left a voicemail after multiple attempts to cancel a reservation via phone as they request. But nobody ever answers. I then received an email, day of reservation saying I was a no show. Poor customer service all around.
Rude bouncer. Low level bar for Instagram reels and influencers. Real New Yorkers do NOT spend time here. Avoid.
What a horrible arrogant non appreciative business. I used their booking system online with a nice message asking for a table for two so I could organise a nice evening for my boyfriend and I. I got an automated confirmation email back but no reply back. Not even that it was full. Nothing. What a way to run a business. Shame on you.
Well if you are a single guy trying to get in this club you cold just skip on through cause this place will not let you in unless you get a table. I got there around 9pm to get in early but there was a private party at the time. I was told to come back at 12am. I did. Was told the only way in was to get a table if I wasnt on the list. Im by myself, they let in about 30 girls (they were on the list), the ratio was in my favor, and I still had to get a table? I was the only guy there at the time. I convinced the doorman if I had a few ladies with me would I be able to get in. He said yea sure. I managed to convince some girls if they would walk in with me. Id get them a round of drinks. Of course he asked if they were on the list. They werent, so I stepped in and reminded him about what he said. He pointed to the prettier one and said Ill let you in with her but not the other two. What a slap in the face to those two poor girls self esteem. They left, I went home, promising never to return unless I got on a list of some sort. Im sure the owners were up there and said they didnt want any ugly girls upstairs and no single guys. I havent gone upstairs but Im sure I would have liked it. The doorman was a ball headed russian looking guy, I forget his name. He was a real D!#@. His co workers agreed after I spoke to them about it.Like I said before, if you arent on the list, youre not getting it. If you are a hot sexy model of a woman, then you will. If you arent youll be asked to step off the line or buy a bottle. You will def get in if you buy a bottle. I just dont feel like paying $300 for a $35 bottle. I met a group of Brazilians who payed 500 for the table. It was a group of 5.
Another great nite at PH-D!! I love this rooftop. Its very sleek and sexy. And i like that you have the option of being inside or out and still get great views. The food and drinks are always good. As well as the djs each time that I have gone.
Had our company party here, good company, food and drinks. Great atmosphere. One thing that couldve been better is getting everyone upstairs faster or told our committee planners what to expect, that people with big bags and personal belongings would have to check it and that caused huge long lines for everyonr
If your a woman, youd really enjoy this place. Men typically are expected to pay a hefty entrance fee when there are major events in NYC. i.e. NYFW. Drinks are pricey but tasty. Always has a good vube and amazing music though so if you want to dance the night away with your girlfriends without getting drunk, this place is perfect for you.
We got free access and drink coupons to the lounge while staying at the Dream. This is a happening party place - loud music (the DJ played some old school hip hop, which was good), wild crowds and good drinks. The lounge has a small outdoor balcony with sofas - gets crowded usually, but the views of the city were super from there.
This bar is a scammer like he asking for tip more and I don’t even see the service and club . Just be careful guys when you go there .
Front desk host on Monday night was very rude . My friend just asked which way do we go after paying and she snapped and said I already said it twice ! The hostess is going to take you guys and he told her okay Im just asking, relax and she said I am relaxed and he just said you know what, give me my ID and money back and the front guy (promoter or manager) only said sorry as we left. He should have asked what the problem was and how he could fix it or address that ladies attitude. You dont even know what kind of customers you just lost.
This place is the stereotypical meatpacking club:great decor, great view. the music is really enjoyable with a top 40/old school hip hop mix. but the crowd is too stuck up to dance and enjoy the night and overpriced drinks : $9 with tips for a mini bottle of water !!!!!
Upon entrance, the manager downstairs was very disrespectful to myself and a few friends. Ended up still getting bottles and spent nearly 4k for a terrible experience. Overcharged and a boring time / music.
Dont bother unless u wanna waste your time & break the bank. Went there twice & both times never even made it up to the rooftop! Doorman make up ridiculous entry fees.first time we went they tried telling us we only could get in if we got a table &bottle service(which was 1500$). Heard great reviews of this place so figured we would try again.Went last night & the 1st guy told us it was 300$ ppl or 1000$ for 4ppl. We walked away & I decided to turn around & ask the other doorman who then told me its 2000$ to get in..Its ridiculous that they make up whatever # they want.. It cant b that good to spend that kinda $
The bouncer was amazing at helping us with no reservation and our group being split up. The manager though was an absolute jerk. He needs to work on his ego.
I was passing by and I saw some people going in this hotel . I asked the security on the door were is line there was a rude like arabic guy in the entrance he said that I was not going in . I was showing my Id the let me pass tru the line when I got to the elevator the security told I was not permited tl go up since I do not have a stamp. I went to this unrespectful guy again I asked him I m going up or not ? He said very rude NO! Plus the people that I saw going to the rooftop look like prostitu.
Waited in an extremely unorganized line for 20 minutes just to be told by the bouncer that there was a $100 minimum. Just wanted to grab a drink and check out the space. Don’t waste your time here. Check out St. Cloud rooftop bar instead.
Went to PHD last night while in town. It was free for us to get in however the guys in front of us payed $1200 for a table. Drinks were around $20 a piece but hey that’s NY. Honestly not worth the money. Went to the bathroom and some girl was puking in the sink. Not very classy.
This could be the best Hip-Hop venue in Manhattan. Spectacular, open views of the NYC Skyline, extensive Scotch selection with heavy pours, and most importantly, the DJ was on point kids! Just as youd expect tho, its super hard to get in. Theres a phalanx of suited bouncers just looking for reasons to keep you from entering the exclusive private elevator to the top, so fellas, u you gotta be dressed to impress or disarm them with gab. Its posh, its Manhattan whadda you expect???
Dropped $10k on a table and the power-hungry bouncer pushed me and kicked me out for trying to charge my phone lol. Worst customer service ever. Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy. Literally close your eyes and go to any other place in the city and you’ll be better off.
This is the most shittiest place that i have ever gone to you have to spend over $500 you and your guests just enjoy time without food. the staff shittierIf you do any wrong for example lean on the table the staff will come up to u and let you knowU have to pay to put Your coats away and it’s mandatory $5 per Item. Please don’t waste your money.
I just need to understand how an order of Kettle Rocks translates to a 5 count pour for $44...double charge.Glass of wine served in a dirty plastic “glass” with what appeared to be fungus on the side.Hard pass.Enjoy, I solemnly swear to not spend another dime at PHD.And encourage others to do the same.
Ive never once been discriminated against based on my appearance for nightclub entry, so last night came as a huge surprise. I attempted to enter PH-D nightclub wearing an outfit similar to what I wore in my Google icon photo and was summarily dismissed. The gentleman at the door told me that I needed to remove my Maison Michel headband and my prescription eyeglasses in order to enter the club (without my glasses, then I wouldnt have been able to see). I didnt realize that being nearsighted could be a discriminating factor -- it was and apparently is at PH-D. I assume of course, that the doorman was sincere in his requests and that those were the reasons for my denial. I suppose that was much easier than flat out denying me because Im black.
The rudest staff. We were told that based on how we were dressed we couldn’t afford to go to the rooftop so we could just go to the back bar. The drinks we got there were like a 3/10. Definitely not missing anything by skipping this.
Sadly, this place is located next to Tao where the chances of getting in are even lower! Waited in line for 30 minutes with minimal movement, not even a bribe to the bouncer would jump us spots. Once inside we were told we needed to drop $350 on credit to secure us a spot inside, no information was given until we were inside the building. Dont bother waiting in line unless you have cash to drop, disorganized mess.
Was invited by my dance instructor to an event, wanted to see her solo performance. Was denied entrance because I dont have a City ID. Non-resident forbidden zone. Nice.
The weekend vs weekday experience is very different. At weekends the door staff get rude and overly strict. The view upstairs is stunning, the drinks are good and bar service excellent. Must come early at weekends unless you know people.
Wow good job I checked the reviews I was just about to book a table. Great costumer service is a must and if you guys don’t have that then you are loosing out on business good job trying to attract costumer with these shocking reviews.
Legit no respect for their guests. Walked in to inquire about a table and felt like the manager or whoever he was wanted to square up. Ended up getting a table to a dead crowd Bc the Dj was wack.
Good roof top view and terrace. Decent music. I like some of the hotels interior decor. Compared to other Meatpacking club options, this is not bad at all.
This is worst rooftop ever in nyc. They are scam. They should mention their policies on their website. Please avoid wasting your time.
The only reason Im giving it two starts is because of great views and nice bartenders. The bouncers and employees guarding the entrance were super rude even though I was a guest at the Dream hotel. Totally over rated place.
I actually been there 3 times and I love 💕 how day walk me all the way up true the lights walls going to the elevator and ones upstairs the view is gorgeous and the bartenders are super nice and really efficient and helpful I have no complaints of the club at all or the people that works there 💕🙏🥰
Only good for the view but there are so many better rooftop bars in Manhattan I’d go elsewhere. Cocktails are a huge disappointment.
I will be back in NYC next week, and Im trying to read up on this spot. I heard its off the chain. I know D-Nice DJs on Tuesday nights, and Im trying to get in on Tuesday. Is there a fee at the door? Does the doorman need a fee to get in? I dont mind paying for drinks. How early can you get in? Is there always a line? Dont mind waiting on a line, I just dont want to waste my time if I cant get in.Let me know.
VIP manager was very friendly and accommodating in getting my business partner and I up to the rooftop. The bartender Megan was on point with serving drinks and lots of good looking people here.
One of the best clubs in New York. Been here a couple of times. Being pricy is a norm in the City, so leaving that out, there is amazing music and a great outdoor rooftop lounge to get away from teh party and socialize.!!! BUCKET LIST THIS ONE!
One of the bouncers that worked on the night of the 21 of April. A light skin gentleman I believe. Is a complete and utter miserable human being. Messaged the company as well and got left on read.
Chill and laid back spot for hanging out with friends/coworkers. Amazing view. Wouldnt recommend food. Drinks are over-priced but thats expected since this is a rooftop lounge in Manhattan.
DISCRIMATION, DISCRIMINATION, DISCRIMINATION IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. My daughter went last night with 8 friends for her friends birthday...they were with a promotor. The promotor took the girls in groups. 7 girls got in when the bouncer stopped my daughter and another girl and told them they had to wait. They waited 45 minutes and finally decided to call other friends to come pick them up. Today we found out that the bouncer wouldnt let them in bc my daughter was too fat. SHE IS FAR FROM FAT! SHE ISNT A STICK FIGURE but shes far from fat and she is beautiful!!! This cannot be legal. When I couldnt believe what I was getting my kids said mom if youre not skinny and pretty you cant get into clubs in Manhattan Im pretty sure the owners wouldnt was this to hit the media. Im a business owner and would never in a million years treat the people that pay my bills this way!!!!! I have calls into my lawyers and the owner on this shithole!!!!
