Guerlain Spa at The Plaza

My husband booked me a prenatal massage here for my birthday today. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and really needed the relaxation. To say this was phenomenal would be an understatement. The spa is gorgeous and the experience was amazing. My masseuse was a very skilled woman named Evie and I could have cried with how she knew exactly what I needed at this point in my pregnancy. I was on cloud 9 the entire time and my baby was happy because mama was happy. Highly recommend if you want a luxurious prenatal experience! I definitely plan to return!

Our experience here was absolutely perfect! From the macaroons, champagne, tea and one of the best massage ever! Really enjoyed it, Maria was my masseuse and she was amazing! Definitely coming back!

I have been twice and thoroughly enjoy the staff and massage services. Tina has great hands. My only issue is that the relaxation room can be a bit crowded and loud. Most people keep it down but one woman was using her outside voice with her boyfriend (who was ironically whispering) which killed the relaxing vibe.The macaroons and champagne are a nice touch.

Anticipation was high as my husband had booked a spa day for my mother and me at the renowned Guerlain Spa. We were eagerly looking forward to our well-deserved massage.I celebrated Mother’s Day with my mother-in-law a few years ago; every part of the experience was delightful. It is such a shame how much the quality of the experience has changed. The massage itself by Maria was wonderful, and at least not everything was disappointing. However, the customer service from the front desk was poor. The person who greeted us was loud and rushed. She brought us to the lockers, quickly said some instructions, and left. After we changed, we were waiting by the lockers, and another woman came to say if we were not ready, they would take time from our massage. We didnt even understand that we needed to go outside and find our massage therapist because we were told all the instructions in a rush. The cleanliness of the bathroom and locker areas was not what you would expect from the spa at this hotel. There was visible dust and dirt on the floors. Also, the decor was dated. The relaxation room was packed afterward. We did have one nice glass of champagne and a little sweet treat.To end our experience, the same front desk person who greeted us at the beginning asked if we wanted to pay gratuity, and despite all the flaws, I decided to pay 20% because the massage itself was lovely. I gave her my credit card to pay for it, but when she gave me the receipt, I saw the full balance. This was a gift, and she told us she didnt use the credit card on file, didnt ask if we wanted to use it, and just didn’t ask for a preference. She just went ahead and charged it all to my credit card. I ask her to cancel the transaction and charge it to the correct credit card. She was about to do that until I said if the one you are about to charge has X last for digits, then its in my credit card again. Her colleague, realizing how poorly the situation had been handled, checked herself and told me the other card had been deleted. Such poor attention to detail. Then, the same other woman asked me to go outside to call my husband because there was no reception at the spa, so he could provide all the information she deleted, in not the best attitude. I just signed the bill and left.Considering the amount we paid for the massages and the quality I expected from the reputable Guerlain spa, the experience was nothing short of a letdown. The front desk, which should start to set the tone for the entire visit, was a disappointment. The negatives far outweighed the positives. If the intention is to lower the quality of everything else, then the price of the services should reflect that. I have no intention of returning or recommending this spa to anyone.

I had a very positive experience in Guerlain Spa during my recent trip to NYC.The facility is amazing - clean, welcoming and stylish.I came 30 min before my facial and the receptionist asked me if I would like to use their steam room. Of course I would!After my session in the steam room, I came to the relax room and had tea (you can opt for a glass of champagne as well). I was served very nicely. My esthetician, Maria, went above and beyond. She is highly skilled, friendly, very positive and nice. Her technique is amazing (I work in the spa industry so I know this craft very well).Checkout process is quick and easy. There was just one issue: after checkout, I asked the front desk staff if I could take some pictures in the lobby (its close to reception and no one was there). They graciously permitted me. The moment I took a picture, a woman showed up and told me it was prohibited to take pictures. Her point was because some guests could be around, but there were none! She mentioned spa policies, however, no signs were posted and no mention on their website or intake form. She had a rather rude, I am the boss here mentality. People love to see real pictures from real guests and if its strictly prohibited that should be clearly communicated ahead of time ( and actually I saw many pictures in other reviews, even inside of spa). I still give the spa the high score because of the rest of the amazing staff!

Absolutely perfect hot stone massage! Guerlain is very expensive but an extremely lovely experience, nice relaxation room to hang in after the service as well

I checked in with ease with a friendly front desk staff. My massage with Maria was outstanding. I highly recommend her. Exceptionally clean facility. No sauna or hot tub, but a terrific steam room. This is not a very large facility, but just enough. For example: small steam room and only two showers, but ample size locker room, and decent amenities. coed lounge area but no lounger seats, just seats and sofas. Suggestion: the music would have been better if it was “Spa music“ instead of what was playing with dimmer lighting. Green tea and complementary champagne were lovely. I would definitely go back and request Maria!

I treated myself to a morning at the amazing Guerlain Spa at the Plaza Hotel for my birthday and Im so glad I did. The experience from the moment I walked in till I left was nothing short of exquisite. Gabby checked me in quickly and gave me a tour of the facilities and explained all the amenities that were available. I was given a cozy robe and slippers and waited for my masseuse. The service I booked was the Body Polish and it was amazing. I felt like I walked out of there five pounds lighter with baby soft skin. I was so relaxed. Gabby even sent me home with some Guerlain samples as a little birthday gift. It was such a beautiful experience and I highly recommend making the visit!

I had a 60 minute signature massage with Maria and it was fantastic. The bed was so comfortable and Maria made the whole experience so relaxing. She worked on the knots in my neck and I feel amazing. Thank you Maria!!

For such a luxurious experience in the legendary Plaza hotel, $330 for 1.5 hours is a steal. I used to pay $200/hour for a mediocre facial.And my skin feels so hydrated and soft afterwards m. They make every effort to make sure you feel taken care of. I’ve been here twice and it has become my sanctuary.

Lovely spa experience, it was very calm and relaxing! A great massage from Maria and a lovely facial from Antonia had me very relaxed. Facilities are new and fresh, and the Guerlain products are lovely as well.

Had such an incredible massage with Marie! Her technique was incredible and so relaxing. She really listened to me and focused on the areas I mentioned, and the whole experience was super luxe and custom. Highly recommend!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Plaza staff could not be more warm and welcoming. Relaxation room included lovely treats including champagne. But star of the show was Ana Christina! I got a hot stone massage from her and it honestly felt like she had 8 hands. Best massage I’ve ever had and will definitely be back. Most relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

Maria gave the best Swedish massage I’ve ever had. Massage at the Plaza is a definite bucket list item checked off! The pre and post service champagne, light snack, and decadent facilities were an added bonus.

I like a massage! It was a good session ❤️ but the sap itself is pretty tiny and also pretty old. It’s just New York’s vibe… everything is tiny and old

Massage experience was lovely for the most part. I booked a deep tissue, therapist was pleasant, pressure could have been more therapeutic. General ambience of spa could use updates, felt a little cold and dated. I would recommend carpet in relaxation room with furniture that is more indulgent. Also, dim lighting everywhere for better ambience. Staff was pleasant, no complaints with the service.

I recently visited your spa and was disappointed to find that despite booking a female masseuse, I was assigned a male masseur instead. This discrepancy made me uncomfortable and did not align with my preferences. If I had known that was the case (before finding out only in the relaxation room) I would have rescheduled or gone somewhere else. Not the level of service I expected.

It was nice atmosphere. Small area, no pool or jacuzzi. Tea, champagne and chocolate was offered! Nice massage!

I had one of the best relaxation massages that I have EVER had thanks to Maria! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to book this type of service. The steam room was a nice way to relax before my massage appointment.

I saw Maria for a prenatal massage and omg it was AMAZING. She was clearly very experienced, welcoming, and comforting. I cannot recommend treating yourself to this if you are pregnant! For the first time in a long time I left feeling light as a feather!

Maria was the best massage therapist I’ve had in a long time! She had her work cut out for her during my 60-min deep muscular massage but she performed magic! She expertly added hot stones to soothe my upper and lower back. And that scalp massage…. I’ll be back!

Right after, I was welcomed by a truly genuine warm heart lady, Antonina Dutu, the esthetician who gave me an hour of bliss. I felt deeply rejuvenated and deeply relaxed.  All I remember is the amazing velvety hands of Antonina massaging my face with a divine elixir that left my face soft and supple.All together, this was truly remarkable and memorable time spent. That was nothing short of absolutely amazing. Im definitely going back soon for another session. Thank you, Antonina and Guerlain spa, for this special time. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to spoil themselves with such a great experience.

My mom, sister and I came here for a spa day on our girls weekend and had the absolute best experience. Atmosphere was spectacular. The staff was so kind. We were treated with champagne. We all did facials and full body massages and everything was incredible start to finish. I had Maria for my massage and it was hands down the best massage I have had. It was very relaxing! I highly recommend booking a treatment here and if you snag Maria then you are in for a real treat.

Had the most wonderful Imperiale Massage by Maria today at the Gurlerlain Spa! So relaxed and refreshed - lasted all day! She is wonderful!

Called many times to cancel the appointment, more than 24 hours before. No one picked up the phone. They finally called me back the same day of the treatment. I tried to explain my husband and I have an emergency. No compassion or empathy AT ALL. We told them to charge us in full, but reschedule. NOTHING. Nope. I had to go having an EXTREMELY sad situation going on in my life. Cried through the whole session. 0 relaxation. On top of that they charged us 20% tip, obligatory!!! I had a deep tissue, with a technician I didn’t want because I rather male therapists. 0 stars to this spa! Not very clean or modern for the Plaza hotel. Don’t go there. There are many more and better places in NYC, I guarantee! Lived in the city for over 20 years.

I had an amazing experience at Guerlain. Zoraida, the masseuse who attended to me, had hands like an angel. I was feeling extremely stressed out prior to the massage, but after the session, I felt completely relaxed as if a weight of 100 pounds had been lifted off my back.

Diane was exceptional with my facial. She created the most peaceful atmosphere and was so gentle and soft. I left with glowing skin and feeling ultra relaxed. Highly recommend. Quality facial.

I ended up coming here as a result of a birthday treat to myself. Didn’t know what to expect since this was my first time here, and I’ve become a bit cynical of luxury spas in NYC. However, this was probably my favorite luxe spa experience in the city, hands down. Ana Cristina was attentive and really worked on areas that were tense. It was a great massage, and would highly recommend if you’re looking for a deep muscle massage. Afterwards, I went to their in house beauty shop, which was also a great experience. Gabby was excellent! She was very knowledgeable about the brand and didn’t try to sell me anything, but I ended up purchasing products because why not? At the end, I had an issue that occurred with my card where the system charged me for much more, but Gabby was able to resolve and really went above and beyond to help rectify the error. She even followed up a few days to confirm if everything was resolved with my bank. I normally don’t post reviews, but because of how well they handled a complicated situation and went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience, even if things were out of their hands and were a result of a technical issue, I was compelled to write one. Will definitely be back here whenever I am in need for another massage/want to treat myself. And thank you to the staff for an amazing experience!

Beautiful space. Calming, spacious, ultra luxe. I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Ana Christina, she was wonderful - very strong hands and fantastic technique. The massage table is heated which was something I’d never experienced before. Tea, water and champagne are offered after the treatment. Lovely showers and a sauna in the changing area so you can take your time getting ready afterwards. The price is very steep but without a doubt this is a five star experience in the heart of New York, and you feel a million miles away from the busy city.

Very disappointing experience. There is no pool or hot tub and it didnt feel like a spa at all. The locker room needs renovation and the showers were sketchy: there was barely any light at all and a cheap almost see-through shower curtain instead of a proper door which gave me little privacy. I had an underwhelming massage with Hanako.  She spent 40 minutes covering my body with oil (zero massage or pressure). She seemed to be an unskilled masseuse. Finally, I could hear a loud, humming sound in the massage room (likely coming from the ventilation) which ended up giving me a pretty bad headache. My advice: run away, there are plenty of better spas in the area.

Unfortunately, I cannot rate the service I received at Guerlain.It was a true disappointment and I cannot fairly recommend it.Update: I received a call from management and they removed the charge for the service.

My wife and I were completely blown away by the superb experience here. From the manager Gabrielle going wayyy above and beyond for us and making us her own VIP’s, to the staff treating us like royalty, to our wonderful Masseuses Evie and Zoraida who were incredible at their job. I am so happy we were able to spend our anniversary here and can’t wait to go back for our next massage.

I didn’t get a massage, but the facilities left a lot to be desired. I went to freshen up prior to our room being ready after a red eye flight. The steam room was not working and I was not made aware prior to walking into it myself. The locker they gave me didn’t lock. The spa slippers they gave me were way too small and their only solution was to give me hotel room fabric slippers. I opted not to use those as it was a wet area and it seemed rather gross to use fabric slippers under those circumstances. The bathroom area had no soap by the sink. They had razors set out but no shaving cream to use. Lastly, there was no lotion set out at any of the sinks. I am typically ok if there are a few details missed, but to me it seemed as though they have a lot of kinks to work out.

Disappointing experience - came here with the intention to get a massage and enjoy a spa day after only to find out there is no spa. The steam room is out of order (looks like it is just intentionally not being turned on) and there is no pool or hot tub. The 6,500 square feet advertised is basically a gym and a locker room. Very disappointing especially since it is located in the same area as spas with more available amenities.

I received a gift card for Signature massage for my bday and was very excited to try this place out. However, my experience was extremely disappointing for the price you pay and I will never come back or recommend this place to anyone.Guerlain Spa is located inside The Plaza but besides that, there is nothing special about it. I came 15 min before my appointment and was greeted by the front desk who gave me some form to fill out and asked me to wait. I was waiting for about 10-15 min and no one offered me water or any beverage. It was August in NYC with super hot and humid weather. You would think at a place who positions itself as luxury someone would offer you at least water.The dressing room is extremely small and no privacy between where you undress and main entry where people come in from the main hallway. There was a curtain but the lady who let me in made a point to open it fully and tyed it to the wall. That was a bit weird. Was not it the point to have the curtain down for privacy?The waiting room was pretty small with people waiting there for their turn to be called for a massage. Again, no one offered me a beverage when I waited for my massage for another 10 min or so. I thought there was a steam room that you could use after your massage but noone actually showed it to me. I did see it was there after I explored the area but I was not sure if it was open to use.When I was taken to my room for massage, I was told about all the extra services that I could add to the massage. No prices, no other information was shared so I had no idea what all of these services meant and price points. I asked about Deep Tissue and I was told deep tissue was extra (later I looked and saw that signature and deep tissue were the same price). I decided to stick to Signature Massage. The massage was very underwhelming. Like that was barely any effort put. Just some oils and light touches. Worst massage I ever got.After the massage I was asked if I wanted some beverage (finally) and I was directed to the lounge room (same place where we waited before massage). The room was so crowded. Like all seats were taken, not relaxing at all. Men, women, couples - we were all in this small lounge room trying to “relax”. Needless to say it was not very relaxing to sit next to people in robes I don’t know. I quickly finished my drink and left.At the front desk during check out I mentioned I had a gift card. A young man who was checking me out said that 20% is what I should minimum pay as a tip. Interesting approach to tipping when you can provide mediocre experience and still collect at least 20% tip on $300+ 90 min massage service. I didn’t want to argue and said ok. He already had my card on file (you cant make an appointment without one). The lady standing next to him quickly looked at his computer screen and pointed out to him that tip was already covered by the person who purchased a gift card for me. I didn’t know that because the email only shows you type of service you are gifted and nothing else. If she was not there, he would gladly collect additional $70+ in tip on top of what already been collected.Overall, this is not the luxury experience you would expect from a place located inside The Plaza and charging high prices for the service. Take your money elsewhere.

An amazing facial experience at the Spa in classic Plaza hotel. Total relaxation with wonderful service. The bee facial was fantastic for my skin. It actually glows after the treatment. If you are looking to pamper yourself, this would be a great choice.

Wonderful experience with Maria at Guerlain Spa. I did a 90 minute Deep Tissue massage and will say I think it was best I ever had!!! Highly recommend Maria!!

I had an underwhelming deep tissue massage with Hanako. She spent 40 minutes slathering my body with oil (zero massage or pressure) and 20 minutes jamming her thumbs into my muscles with no apparent skill or precision. Before getting the treatment I had no problem areas, but I left with a painful tweaked back muscle...definitely the sign of an unskilled masseuse. I also developed a rash all over my arms despite showering off immediately afterwards, which brings me to the womens locker room. The spa itself is beautiful, but the locker room needs a renovation. There is no sauna, the steam room smelled like mildew, and the white shower curtains on the two shower stalls were covered in orange/pink mildew. I should have brought my own flip flops because there was only one size available (XL) and it was like walking around in clown shoes. Lastly, despite requiring visitors to be vaccinated, I was not asked for my vaccination card while there. Unlike most other NYC spas, this one does not require staff to be vaccinated and only tests them once every two weeks.

Loved the black orchid facial. This spa is a wonderful and peaceful island in the middle of all the Midtown hussle and bustle.

I have tried quite a few spas in NYC and the deep tissue massage at the plaza hotel today was phenomenal. The therapist, Natasha took great care of me. The best pick me up when you are stressed and tired. I cant recommend it enough.

I saw this place in an article on the Time Out magazine and decided to give it a chance after doing some research and looking at the reviews. It is definitely worth it! I came in for a facial and it was just what I needed. The place has a very soothing and relaxing ambiance, perfect for a spa. I felt like I had left NYC for a couple of hours. A place to recharge and relax. Will definitely come back.

Ladies! And the gentlemen too! This place is HEAVEN! Located in the hustle and bustle of Midtown this quiet and zen island of peace is a much needed retreat! The prices are steep but the experience is absolutely worth it!Just entering the magnificent lobby of the Waldorf Astoria is a treat in and of itself. Upstairs on the 19th floor youre warmly greeted by the front desk staff. Youre led to a beautiful and stylish lounge area and offered a drink of your choice. You have time to unwind and get in relax mode. Then the massage therapists greet you and lead you to the beautiful massage room and allow you time to undress and get in the cozy massage bed with automatic temperature controls. The massage therapist then joins you and asks what music you prefer and if the bed temperature is good for you. I mean REALLY?! This is heaven! She was knowledgeable, kind, and professional- asked where she should focus in the massage and if there are areas to avoid. She then proceeded with a nice massage- not the best Ive had but the experience itself was amazing. After the massage she offered me another drink and left me a little delicious piece of chocolate. I then had the suite for about 20minutes to dress up and touch up my make up. Then you go back to the lounge area to savor this bliss a little longer.Dont think about it- you deserve this treat! Treat yourself!

The most relaxed spa I’ve ever experienced💗

Lapin and I came here to celebrate a milestone. We thought, what better way than to do a couples massage ($425) at the Guerlain Spa. The couples experience was a side by side massage in a private suite with a bottle of champagne and Godiva truffles (4pcs).Our masseuses were Marina and Ivete who were nice. Our massage was for 12:30pm and they were running a bit late but we were enjoying a complimentary mimosa while we waited. They took the time to let us pick which of the 4 scented oils we wanted and told us to make ourselves feel at home ( although it would have been nice to know what we could have done in the room to make ourselves comfortable as we had no idea what we could or couldnt touch ). They also asked us what we would like them to focus on and any information we would like to disclose. They told us we would get 5 minutes to change but it felt like a bit longer since we were under the towels waiting for a bit. But I am not sure if the masseuse knocked when she bought the champagne but she saw me naked...then again I am sure she already saw what I had to offer. Lapin thought it was rude of her -- I agreed with him but I didnt care very much as I was about to get a massage!We mentioned it was Lapins first massage and he would like it to with little pressure to start. He had Ivete and according to him that little old lady really did a number on him. He also ended up with a couple of scratches on him. He couldnt stop talking about how much in pain he was in. Marina did a nice job for me. She stayed away from my sensitive areas and paid close attention the back and neck like I asked.Marina was nice enough to set up the steam shower for us to enjoy after the massage. And boy, was that awesome. The only downside was, they only gave us 15 minutes to use the showers, try the products, and get dressed? We felt a bit rushed which isnt a really good. I believe, 30 minutes for a couple to enjoy the room -- take a shower and get ready is ample time instead of the 15 minutes which made us scramble to find towels and getting ready.Our experience also included a makeup refresher, steaming our clothing, access to the spa facilities, and a shoe polish. For the makeup refresher ( Ivete was kind enough to schedule me in ), my makeup artist was funny and bubbly. He was awesome to work with but I felt like he was rushing a bit as he took like 10 minutes to do my makeup before hurrying to the next guest. I get it, he is just one person and its a complimentary service but he did spend 5 minutes trying to sell me on products while Lapin and I were getting ready to leave. For the steamed clothing, gym, and the shoe polish, no one mentioned that we could do it or where we could do it. Only after we paid and then mentioned about it, they told us we were supposed to ask before...would have been nice to know that.... Would have been nice if they knew what package we had and let us know ahead of time....cause we are here to relax and not manage the logistics of our package.On an off note, since we were celebrating an anniversary, we asked if we could keep the cork or the empty champagne bottle. We were told only if we were guests at the hotel. We live in NYC, like 20 minutes away, there is no reason for us to stay at hotel but we did choose to spend our anniversary at your Spa instead of the many many other spas available. And again, we mentioned that it was our anniversary, its not like the spa is going to re-use the bottle or the cork. What is the harm in letting your guest have a memento ( that they technically paid for ).Was it worth it? Probably not, but Lapin loved the way the Guerlain products smell and I can see a cache of luxury products coming my way. And that, is worth it.
