Mechanical bull, line dancing, great atmosphere, doesn’t get crowded until 10:30ish pm.

Great service. Very clean. Lively environment. Great place for a group outing. Love this place. Im definitely coming back. Enjoyed a Journey and Toto concert here, it was such a great performance. Beer was average price. Bathrooms were clean and seat were foam padded and very comfortable. The night was amazing.

Together, Jasmine and Amanda created an atmosphere of hospitality that went above and beyond my expectations. Their teamwork and commitment to excellence are commendable, and they are a true asset to PBR Bar. I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend this fantastic establishment to anyone looking for a great night out.

Long review so you know whats up!!tldr up front: it’s a pretty good club, best ive come across in the norfolk and downtown norfolk area. the music has gotten better, drinks are good, bartenders are good, people/men are decent, younger crowd, vibe is good. theres better out there but it’s the best in the area. a strong 6.9/10 overall.the 411:bar is great. there are three but my preferred is the one behind the bull next to the bathrooms and pong tables. good drinks and cool and attentive bartenders. i dont usually have to wait too long, even when they only have two or three people on a Saturday night. theyre always on it! just make eye contact, smile, BE PATIENT, and fricken relax.they have two tables for beer pong, thats fun to watch. i think they have jenga too. bathrooms next to that with plenty of stalls, usually pretty clean and never really a line for the girls.you can also buyout a vip section, which ive been a part of before and that was super fun. bottle service nonstop and youre right on the dance floor.the mechanical bull is the best part in my opinion. a good challenge that’ll leave your thighs sore but extremely fun. if youre a woman, you’ll probably get wriggled/jiggled around a bit but all in good fun. if youre a man, you may or may not be on/last for long. they definitely love havin a purdy lady up there.men arent too gross or pushy here that ive noticed. if you express disinterest, they back off. no one’s too handsy and everyone is reasonably friendly, wanting to dance, and have a good time. you can really start a convo or dance with anyone if you so please. crowd ranges in age, early 20s to mid 30s i would say, but more 20 somethings than anything if i had to guess. you’ll definitely see some cowboy boots and hats too. reasonably diverse crowd as well. handsome guys and beautiful women for sure.i will say this is obviously a country bar so be prepared for some country songs and line dancing. it isnt overwhelming on saturday, not sure about other days. great time if you know the dances. otherwise, they have a large outdoor area (theres large doors that stay open all night to allow airflow and so you can walk in and out easily) with plenty of tables and one cool, long table with fire. so you can take a breather or smoke a cig when you need. they have a cig catcher so throw away your butts!!!also note: you cannot take pepper spray in but they have a bucket with security at the front you can leave it in and grab on your way out. security is fine and cool, ive never had any issue with them. i also heavily recommend rideshare, ive always been able to find a ride within a few mins at the end of the night, but there’s a parking garage right across the street and a couple others in the general downtown area.they do kick you at at 1:45am but im pretty sure thats standard and an ABC law that has to be followed. so just leave when they say leave and dont be weird about it. you can cue up your ride and wait out front, OFF the property. they do let you know when it’s last call and when bathrooms are closing but ive never heard the DJ call out the last song.it’s a good time honestly. check it out. waterside/downtown has lots of cool shops, restaurants, etc. so it’s a good place to end up and finish the night. i recommend starting at bluemoon taphouse since it’s right next door. yeehaw! 🤠🐂EDIT:this PBR is definitely better than the one in hampton by miles as far as DJ, mixing, music, and vibes go!!!

Came out on a Thursday for line dance lessons, and i had a BLAST! Jasmine did such a fantastic job, and made me feel so comfortable and confident! Grayson was my bartender and was personable, and had a fun game to help me choose my drink. His drinks were delicious. I enjoyed my night and the atmosphere here!

My FAVORITE bar in all of hampton roads!!! the atmosphere is amazing and the service is always impeccable. the staff will 1000% make sure that you have a good time, especially lizzy, goose and joe!! and lets not forget the best bartenders arounddd, my girls chienne and jazz NEVER forget my drink order!

PBR is my favorite bar I’ve EVER been to! Back in town visiting for the week and stopped in with friends, the bartender made a drink customized to me and it happened to be emo night (amazing). 11/10 can’t express how much I love this bar, it only gets better each visit. Meabh is also the cutest emo cowgirl ive ever seen and is so incredibly kind!!!

Loved this place in norfolk, by far the most happening place in the city, the turnout to the club on Friday night was amazing and we enjoyed our stay. There is even a free bull riding area when you get to sit on the bull until you fall, so you can do that as well. We had the long island ice tea which was decent enough and music was good too. Overall a good club to dance and chill.

LIZZY was the most amazing dancer in the world!!!!!! Absolutely stunning! Total goofball! 10 out of 10 would recommend to ANYONE! Keep doing what you’re doing!!! Excellent service and an excellent experience! YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!!

Was fun for a bit but they decided to kick everyone out before closing. I was drinking a cup of water on my way out and the bouncer told me while I was standing in front of the sign that said “no alcohol beyond this point” that I can’t bring my cup of water out. I then proceeded to say the sign says nothing about water and if I’m not allowed to bring water out then I am going to stay here and drink it. He then proceeded to grab my cup of water and slam it to the ground and toss it in the trash. 12 minutes prior to closing, might I add again. This establishment has never been friendly to me. 4/20/2024

Grayson was the best bartender i have ever interacted with. he knew my beverage of choice after one order. his personality made me feel at home and I was moved by this experience. will definitely return

Amy was the best bartender I had at any of the bars I went to when I was at Waterside visiting for work! She was very patient with me and the large drink orders I had. I definitely recommend going to PBR and making sure Amy serves you! I will be going back again for sure cause of Amy!

My wife had a panic attack because we were expecting to leave at 2:00. Instead, we were pleasantly (rather rude actually) kicked out with everyone else 15 minutes prior to closing. Change your closing times if its not actually 2:00AM. Not pleased one bit.

I was at PBR Norfolk and one of their bartenders Grayson learned my drink quickly and every time I started walking walking his direction he singled me out in the crowd. His service and attentiveness was astounding with everything going on throughout the night.

PBR is an excellent choice to go dance the night away. It has a me mechanical bull that you can ride. Plenty of bar space to order drinks with good pricing. There is more than enough dance floor space for everyone to enjoy. Restrooms are plenty and clean to. They had several activities like beer pong and giant Jenga. The best part of PBR is definitely the DJ, hes music list was on fire. He mixed up it from country to hip hop to bad bunny latins hits. Definitely recommend PBR for a good time or drinks and dancing. It does have a cover which is NOT cute but it is what is.

Greatest of the greats of bars on waterside. Make sure you go see Amy and Cheyenne. Never a dull moment.

Had an awful experience with the bartender, Kenny. I was there late and came to his bar to order another drink on my tab. He told me I closed out and I said “No I didn’t”. And he doubled down that I closed out. When I asked for a receipt he was dodgy and said he couldn’t do that. I took a picture of the receipt he said I signed. I’m assuming he tipped himself 10 bucks and signed my name. Or he gave someone else my ticket and they signed for me. Either way that’s terrible service. But the fact that someone forged my signature is a frustrating experience. And the fact he argued with me when I know I didn’t sign it.

Amy is the best bar tender that pbr Norfolk has she always pours the drink right and is very quick at getting them too. You can’t go wrong getting your drinks from Amy.

Lastnight I decided to make my way to PBR even though I’m not really a fan of the country bars. Definitely worth the trip because of Bella 👀 she was so sweet

If you like country music and line dancing and bull riding then this is a great place. When its crowded it might be hard to get a drink but there are three separate bars to choose from. Staff is extremely friendly and outgoing. There is a 5 dollar cover charge, but if you get there before 9 then you dont have to worry about that. Again, great place, great people, fun time.

Jordan and Jas are amazing. I had an amazing time visiting for the weekend and they were definitely what made PBR fun.

PBR Norfolk is my FAVORITE weekend spot. The DJ is so in tune with the crowd and can really throw a party. Cheyenne the cocktail waitress is attentive, fun, and gorgeous!! Bartenders Bella and Amy can sling drinks like there’s no tomorrow. I definitely recommend throwing your boots on and checking this place out

At this point I only come here for Amy! She’s absolutely amazing! If she’s not here I literally walk out. I try to tip as much as possible because she deserves. If Amy leaves, I’m not coming back. She’s literally a bright light that brings me back almost weekly to see her. She’s amazing.

Literally the only place I wanna be at on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Drinks are great($3 specials on Thursday BTW), the mechanical bull is free to ride! Literally the only place that does dancing skits and at midnight does this thing called “blackout” which is my personal fav. And when the lights come on and I leave I hear “have a good night and get home safe” from the workers. Ya this place is different and in the BEST way possible. 10/10 will go again!

Fun environment. Good music. Not quite as country as I expected, which is good for some patrons. Ladies on the bull is always a nice touch to keep some invested in sticking around longer then they plan. Cant hate, its a great business move. Drinks were a little inconsistent though. I like to share the wealth as a bartender myself, so Ill usually order drinks from multiple bartenders. Some have standard pours while some may rush when busy and short a bit. Only real gripe.

Good place to grab some drinks and dance. Would be like every other bar in town but the customer service here sets it apart from any other bar in town. It’s one thing to go out and drink at a bar but it’s another thing entirely to go out grab a drink and feel at home. Thanks to Cheyenne I will be drinking and dancing at this place any chance I can.

This place was ok not the best not the worst. It says its open until 2 but security starts kicking everyone out at 1:45. It takes FOREVER to get a drink because they dont have enough bartenders. The bartenders they do have were great though, non stop working. Its overall ok. Went back a second time I was standing waiting for my friend to get out of the restroom and I got kicked out because they claimed I was drunk and falling asleep. I asked for an explanation because I was not drunk nor falling asleep and they refused to provide one. I am still very confused about their security standards.

I love riding the bull even though I cant ride it at all. Lol. I probably look super funny. But still have a blast. Spent a lot of alcohol. Just have to find one of the bartenders thatll make your drink right. Where I can taste the alcohol. They didnt have any food.

Its definitely an experience. Fun atmosphere. Very lively. I was mesmerized by watching people ride the mechanical bull. Maintenance should check the fans outside on the patio. Only 2 out of 6 are operational. Most are missing fan wings, which I thought was kinda strange.

Couldn’t ask for a better place to have a weekend night out with a couple friends. The bartenders are always incredible especially my go to cowgirl Lauren. Get ready and get over here.

Usually have a great time at this place.. But last night was not a good experience for a few reasons. First off whoever was DJ last night was TERRIBLE & flat out rude. At one point our group was standing close to the DJ & anytime someone would go up and request a song they were told no. Even myself went and requested a song at midnight for someone in our groups birthday and got told nope. Also this is considered a country bar yet they play songs like one direction & Mac miler all night long. Music was so terrible we ended up leaving because of it. Maybe get a new DJ? One that will actually listen to requests? Another big issue is the bartenders must make up prices as they go for the night. Had order Jack & coke & Titos & cran first time going up was $16.75. 2nd time maybe 15 mins later same drinks was charged $18.45… pretty shady now won’t be returning

I used to love PBR but it really hasn’t been great lately. They now charge a 15$ cover fee rather than 5$. Which is kind of ridiculous. The drink prices have also increased like crazy. Theres no reason FOUR green tea shooters should equate to 50$. Anywhere you go they are on average 7-9$ per shooter. Not 12$. Even house vodka & redbull has gone up here. Go elsewhere if you don’t want to empty your bank account by the end of the night and still be sober. Light pours too.

I had a bad experience yesterday was the first to see that I was going out. I lived in Illinois and the Employees are gentlemanly and polite, its the least one asks for in a bar .., and I take my niece who is the first time she goes to the Disco, and we had an unpleasant Attention .. we asked her for 2 drinks , and I told him that what he gave me was not a correction, please give me what I asked for and the one who was only the only male who worked answered me ... that if he doesnt like it, I should get out of the bar, I told him it was a bad thing. Polite and he answered me rudely and told me to leave, it is not together that I have employees working like him in a tourist place like PBR one of the Client deserves respect.🥂

Free 99 to get in for 21+. Went on a Saturday night. Beer looks like it is reasonably priced. The DJ couldnt play a song more than about 2 minutes for any song. There is no demarcation for a dance floor, just dance wherever you can find a space. No one was doing much of line dancing from what I could tell, but this was one visit. And whatever that was at midnight was... Interesting, but mostly because a rave with strobe lights is not my expectation at a western bar. They do have a mechanical bull which would be another selling point.

Every time I come here its a good time. Im not really a big fan of country but the vibes in there are always fun ! You can ride the cowboy, get a couple drinks, and just dance on the dance floor. I learned a couple of line dances when I went last time. . I wonder if I will remember them again when I go . Cant wait to take advantage of the patio that they have when it gets warmer.

First time here Robbie made it awesome kept my drinks coming. Never kept me waiting. A bearded guy named Brian told me about the founders club. He had me jump on the bull gave me some riding tips and allowed me to gall off gracefully. Place is great on Friday and sat. My new spot!!

I liked the drinks and the music is good. I really like that they dont play too much country, I think Norfolk has a huge young hip population and they are trying to target that market very smart. The only downside I would say the music is too loud. I cant meet talk to anyone because of how loud it is. They should lower volume by the bar area where most people meet to talk.

AWESOME PLACE!! The only reason PBR gets four stars is because of the drink prices. Everything else about it is epic. IT is a great place to chill friends, do some line dancing, ride a mechanical bull. We had a blast here and would definitely come back.

Got turned away at the door with 4 other coworkers, even though crowd was lively and still an hour left til Close. Security said theyre not letting anyone else is cause Its late and thats how it is. Yet another disappointment in this disappointing downtown scene.

10/10 would 100% recommend again! Francisco is the best bartender to go to so make sure you see him when you’re there!

We were set up in the reserved section for freedom Friday, and we had a great time. Service was great and the staff was was friendly.

Decent music and staff friendly. Bull was fun but not for faint of heart. Just here with some friends on a business trip would have loved to be here with a date and do some line dancing. They made it look fun.

Literally goes from playing a dance song that has everyone hyped up to a country song and it kills the whole vibe ( Come on djs). People go out to drink, dance and have a good time. There should be more variety. Throw in some Reggaetón, Reggae/Dancehall, Hip-hop etc. The music that gets played here is all old-school. Theres nothing new or trendy at all. Be more inclusive... We dont want to hear the same thing every week. Please get the DJ to mix it up. I know they can do it maybe management tells them what to play?? or get another DJ in the 757. There are many great ones playing all types of music. This place has crazy potential and thats the only thing lacking.Look at all the comments mentioning dj and undanceable music, many people feel the same way.. One even said You wait more for a good song than you actually dance. I couldnt agree more.I hope management sees this and take action about it.

Very entertaining!! My husbands knee wont allow for much line dancing, but we had a great time watching everyone else. I couldnt believe how many different dances there were!!The riders on mechanical bull were also alot of fun to watch! The DJ swung through the rafters between his sound equipment and the machine that customers had to sign prior to riding the bull. I was sure that he would mess up at some point, but he nailed it every time!One last note, The waitresses wear buttless chaps and spanks and dancing on the bar is sure to happen. If you enjoyed the movie Coyote Ugly, you will enjoy this place!!

If youre looking for a country western bar, this is as good as it gets. However, every song has a line dance and those take the whole dance floor, which gets kind of annoying. But overall, it is a fun place to have a late night with friends.

PBR is still my favorite bar, Cheyenne and Haley always have the best customer service! They even make the effort to find me in the crowd to make sure I have a drink! Love this place and the people who work there!

In less than a year this place has really declined, they went from no cover to charging $5 and now $15 a head (male and female ) and haven’t changed a thing. Total waste of money. Don’t wait in line.

As a country DJ in the area I visited this venue and it was awesome. Definitely lively, fun, energetic. (I don’t drink ) but Hurd the drinks are good. Kevin is an awesome manager so definitely a place to check out if you haven’t been !!

Last night my friend and I ordered 2 shots of fireball from the bar next to the outside. Not only did the bartender pour from a bottle that was not a fireball bottle, but also it tasted watered down!! It was disgusting and disturbing! It was $18 for 2 shots. Be aware!!!

My husband and I were walking in tonight, we showed the bouncer our IDs and he waved us in, then as soon as we start walking forward he freaks out saying that he needs to see our IDs, though we JUST showed him. My husband, confused, said he just saw them, and just from that the man brought us to the front of the building and kicked us out, infront of everyone. Extremely rude, and he seemed drunk (carrying his drink the whole time). Decent place, trashy employees. Wont be coming back.

This place is middle of the road mediocre. Its saving grace is that its the only club in downtown Norfolk. So, if youre night carries you past midnight, this is probably the place youll end up.They play country music all the time, its crowded with dudes, and the drinks are expensive. I dont go here any more.

Great service, fun atmosphere

I would have selected zero star if it was an option. I went during happy hour and Nicole (server) overcharged me 6.75 for a drink that I was later told should have been $5.00 due to it being happy hour. My bank card was charged an extra $2 over the cost listed on the receipt, so my bank opened a fraud claim.

Decent bar, great dance floor and bartenders. Drinks are way overpriced. $7 for a draft thats not even a pint? Sheesh. Almost $7 for a bottle. Meh

Very busy club with good music, games, and a riding bull. Lots of space and things to do to keep you busy.

Dont know if it was the night we went but music was whack and so was the crowd. Drinks not only overpriced but they are also watered down and taste like garbage.

The bar seemed nice upon entering, but the vibe changed once inside. The music was very censored(which is not a problem at all) but they played mostly country music and rock. When we asked could they play 1 hip-hop song the dj said he would have to ask the manager. We then told the dj that there was an edited version of the song and he said he still had to ask his manager. No big deal! Then, halfway into the night the dj shouts out that according to CNN Alicia Keys had died. Everybody around me went into a panic searching there phones for what happened. Then the dj says he was just joking...what?! I went to the dj booth and asked why he would say that and he said they thought it would be funny 😑. My friends also experienced some mishaps. My friend, who is Black was standing at the bar waiting to get served. Everyone that came before and after him were served and he made eye contact with the bartender but was ignored. It was until my friend spoke up that he was served. The bartender paid for his drink because he knew he kept skipping over him. Ive heard and read several reviews of this bar because prejudice in some instances but I experienced it first hand last night. its sad because it could be a really nice place but they definitely cater to a certain crowd (that obviously doesnt look like me)

Always fast and accommodating to me and my friends needs. Always come back here for the people! Love this place!

I did not like the atmosphere of this bar- not intimate and relaxed- too many college kids dressed up. Not enough alcohol selection, they do not offer any Budweiser products, and very overpriced with special party package options over 100$. If you are looking to have a drink and chill this is not the place

Pbr is a good time. Its a country themed bar / night club-ish spot. Has multiple bars inside and has an outside area as well. Dance floor, dj, mechanical bull, whatever youre feeling you got it. Its in a good location at Waterside in downtown norfolk. You can bounce around to other local bars and restaurants and then end up at PBR to close down the night. Anytime there is an event downtown you can expect it to be a good time. Get a crew and head on over to pbr to burn it down.

Fun bar in the Waterside District of Norfolk. Great place to dance and have a great time with friends. The only downside is the prices, they are a little expensive with the cheapest beer being nearly $6.

I went for my birthday, it was really cool, laid back. The drinks were a little on the high side, but I had fun.

This place is for crazy young ones who love to drink like a fish. Dont expect to eat here because they do not serve food. But if you want to party hard, then this is the place for you.

Scamers and thieves, avoid this place. My girlfriend went here and had a few drinks, that were mediocre at best, and at the end of the night when the tab was pulled it was around $50. The problem was when the bar tender ran the card he said it was deck declined, tried two different cards and both were declined and never let her see the actual receipt. Then made her pay cash for the tab. Went and checked the bank account and the card did work but still was forced to pay cash on top of the credit card payment.

Many people love this place. I just dont like blasting music, especially country. Always crowded with slow service. Definitely more for partiers. Im more of an old lady these days.

Maybe I went on a bad night lol. It was a Saturday night so not sure what was going on. The music was lame, and the bull was broken which was my reason for going there with my friends. No one was dancing and it just looked deserted.

If youre not from Virginia, dont go.

Wow, just awful, while i have to admit the atmosphere is great the service is completely awful, walked up to the bar and got passed over many a times while the guy ahead of me was waiting even longer, ended up spending half an hour waiting for a beer, dont come if you are trying to drink and have a good time because honestly youll just get pissed sitting there waiting for poor service, obv this place brings in money cause the crowd is huge but they cant staff it properly ,do NOT COME I wont be back, spent 56 dollars plus tip for 4 beers and 2 shots, the cheapest available, WOW if I could give it zero stars I would, plus I never ever log on to write reviews this is my first time and I had to share my god awful experience

Always have a good time here, but just went last night and the bartender threatened to kick me out because I didnt tip 20%. Will never come here again

A place with a bunch of hipsters and a douche DJ that is cocky and chews gum with his mouth wide open and dances with his shirt off and plays like 2 country songs all night, that is not a country bar. You can absolutely not promote this hipster, lame ass club, as a country club.

No legs is the man, will come and talk to you and is the nicest guy up here. Look out for him!

Great spot to visit in downtown Norfolk. Bartenders were on point. With the dance routines and the mix of music, this is a unique bar experience in Norfolk.

PBR Norfolk at Waterside is the place to be! Awesome bartenders, buckle bunnies, and music make this the best country bar on the southside of Hampton Roads.

Absolutely awful service, the person to the left of us waited over 30 mins for a drink when the peoole on our right just walked up and got a drink, we ended up waiting over 20 mins for 1 beer. Poor organization, staff ignored us and werent very friendly. Will not come again. Piss poor service.

Very busy on Friday & Saturday nights. Lively entertainment and crowd. Took a while to be served at the bar (due to the large crowd).
