Zen Massage - Olathe, KS

Second time going and not disappointed! Ryan was great! My only suggestion would be for others be mindful of how loud theyre talking when walking in the hall. The walls are on the thin side & could hear what people were talking about in the hallway.

I have been going to Zen Massage in Olathe for 2-3 years and I really like this place. The front desk people are always very nice and the place is clean and professional. Miriam does an excellent job as a massage therapist. I have recommended her to others and they always have glowing reports too. Thank you!

Hubby surprised me with a prenatal massage and it was fantastic. I didnt even know I was hurting in some places till I went and my whole body feels amazing now. April took such good care of me, I would recommend her skills to anyone!

Just had an amazing massage with Angela. I have been suffering and limping around due to plantar fasciitis for months now. After a 60 minute massage concentrating on my glutes, hamstrings, calves and feet...I walked out pain free with no limp! I am one happy customer and will definitely be back soon! Thank you!!!

I just left one of the worst massages I’ve ever had. I booked a 90min deep tissue. When i was taken back the massage therapist did not seem to realize i was even booked for a deep tissue, nor acted like they were very knowledge about them at all (she asked if i wanted firm pressure). We got started and there was no music on, so that was not very relaxing; in addition to the massage therapist not having very good personal hygiene. I feel if you’re going to work so closely with others, hygiene is so important. I could tell right away the therapist was not skilled or trained well in deep tissue, as there was no intense pressure or focus on tight areas. It just a basic rub down, at best. The whole thing felt very sloppy and uncoordinated.I chose 2 stars because i received a massage there another time recently by Miriam that was FABULOUS. I plan to leave a separate review for her.It doesn’t seem that their staff has equal training, yet all the pricing is the same for each therapist.

I came to this establishment twice and i think people should know that although you are paying for a 60 minute service (at minimum) you are getting roughly about 50 minutes of service. That was my experience the first time i came and my experience tonight. I work out frequently and experience tension in my shoulders/upper back area frequently which was expressed. I wish that was treated more aggressively especially for a full body massage

Angela at zen massage was amazing...she made my hips not hurt and I had more stamina when walking long distances!

April is amazing!! I treated myself to a lymphatic drainage massage which in itself was a journey to find let alone someone who renders this service well. April went above and beyond and made this experience so relaxing for me. I walked out feeling so much lighter and can feel my inflammation lessen after my visits with her. Thank you so much for all you do April, you are amazing!!!!

I had a girls weekend with my besties and booked us all a massage here! They were so accommodating and we all had such amazing massages!! Angela’s hands were a god send! She really worked some magic on me! She asked me what I did for a living and went from there. No words were needed!! Scheduled my 16yr old son his 2nd massage there since his 1st experience was great. My husband & I go there as well. However, this visit was with a new person (Michael) weve not used before & was NOT a good experience. Michael came out to greet us by arguing with the front desk lady about me needing to be in the room with my son & she informed him that its the parents preference & he seemed mad. He gruffly opened the door and told my son welp lets go then as I was explaining that I was fine waiting in the lobby since the room is small & did that on the last visit. After the session Michael came out & said he did good, just so you know I dont usually do minors because I find them creepy, but your son was fine & would be okay with having him again. Since hes doing this for football he should do this monthly & your going to want to book today because my schedule is filling up fast and proceed to open the door leaving the lobby. I sat there feeling EXTREMELY uncomfortable & Im almost in tears writing this as a professional in health care as I would never treat my patients/family like this! It takes a lot of trust & money for this types of services & this was a complete fail on every level. I discussed this with the lady at the front desk since she heard everything & said she would definitely pass this along. This entire experience was completely unprofessional & has me questioning if I or my family will ever return.

April is the amazing. She listens to you AND your body very well. I was extremely impressed.

First off, I will admit that I do not leave reviews as often as I should. However, in saying that, I cannot express how much I enjoyed my deep tissue massage with Ryan today! I have had intermittent lower back pain for the past several months and a few days ago I had woken up with severe lower back pain that radiated down my left leg (assuming it was sciatic nerve pain). I decided to get a deep tissue massage to help loosen things up. Ryan was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. He knew exactly what areas to work on and what techniques would work best. I left my massage feeling nearly pain free. I am truly impressed! Never having had pain like that before, I did not think a massage alone would help as much as it did. Zen Massage and Ryan now have my full loyalty!

The place was nice, but the massage therapist i was with talked the whole entire session, very hard to relax with. She was nice, but not what i wanted at all. left me feeling bruised and even when i told her it hurt she replied with the hurt now will make it feel better later. not enjoyable

Had massage today at Zen in Olathe. and was probably one of the worst. I scheduled for a 90 minute pre-natal, massage therapist stopped The massage at 60 minutes and rushed out the door. Seemed like she was in a big hurry to leave. 2nd- did not give me appropriate time to get undressed, when she knocked back on the door did ignored the fact I asked her to hold on I wasn’t ready, ,completely walked in while I was naked and didn’t apologize just said oh it’s fine I too am a girl. Made me feel very uncomfortable. Found it odd that the therapist did not ask me my preferences and or any history. Just started massaging. I did have large knots but therapist was overly rough and I feel worse off than when I came in. I have a messed up back from previous medical history and she put so much pressure on that area evening after knowing I was in pain. It was also frustrating that the therapist would not stop talking, i come to have a relaxed session and if the client is not talking back or initiating conversation needs to be known that they may not want to be talked to during session. It seemed very unprofessional and I am definitely in worse pain then when I came. Very disappointed with the therapist, previous therapist have been fine.

My husband and I went for a Couples Massage to celebrate our anniversary. Becky and Ryan were wonderful and we left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Very reasonable.

I had a massage with April the other day and she was AMAZING. I came in with some lower back soreness from heavy deadlifts and she worked through all the tightness I had in my back. I feel amazing compared to how I felt when I walked in. I will definitely be back.

I have had several massages here and I always love it! It is a great price too! The only reason for less than 5 stars is for my last visit. I had a prenatal massage on December 31st. Sally was my massage artist. She was very good, but talked very loudly the entire time. I came to relax and have a calming experience, and unfortunately it was not an excellent experience. I am hoping in the future this will not be the case, but I definitely will be returning because overall I do really enjoy this place!

I love Zen Massage! I’ve been a few times now and will definitely stay going regularly. I’ve always had a different therapist each time and just had Sally this last time. She is an absolute doll! Very friendly, and very good at what she does! Her deep tissue was one of the best I’ve ever had. I feel SO much better than when I walked in! If I could give more stars, I would!

Had my first massage here today after reading all the rave reviews! I was not disappointed! I’m in my second trimester of pregnancy and needed a prenatal massage badly! The appointment process is very simple, request the times you would like via their website and someone will reach out to you to confirm!Fast forward to today, I showed up a few minutes early to fill out the paperwork and then I was met by happy and bubbly Sally! She is the sweetest massage therapist! She provided friendly conversation but also let me relax and I pretty much fell asleep by the end! Her hands have magic in them! I felt like a new person by the end of the massage! I was happy and baby was happy! Definitely coming back on a monthly basis! Highly recommend Sally if she is available but I think everyone here is pretty great! I got my husband to make an appointment for a deep tissue on Friday since he needs a massage as well!One of my favorite things about this place is that it doesn’t require you to have a membership or sign any contracts like most massage places and the rates are amazing!

I had my first prenatal massage at Zen and it was wonderful! Kacie was my masseuse and she did a fabulous job. She listened carefully as I told her my problematic areas and she explained in detail how the massage would go before we got started. She used the perfect amount of pressure and took into consideration everything I had told her beforehand. I will definitely be going back!

Trigger point deep tissue painful left rhomboid area. Thought I had 1 trigger point. Ryan found 6. Yes, I saw stars a few times as he worked on releasing them. Now thinking Ive had for a long time. Ryan said give it a week, then see if you need repeat work. Makes sense to me... Will not hesitate to schedule a repeat session, if needed. Thanks, Ryan !

Made a same day appointment about 2 hrs before the scheduled time. When I showed up I was told my therapist wasnt there and they had no idea what was going on.Thankfully, they were able to squeeze me in for a 30 min with a 25% discount as an apology for the no show masseuse. I really appreciated the customer service!!

I have had massages at many different places in KC, and lots of different therapists. Kacie is in a league of her own. By far the best massage I’ve ever had, and it’s not even close. I will never go anywhere else. Book with her and I promise you won’t be disappointed. New owner is awesome too- great place, would recommend to anyone!!!!!

I had an initial poor experience with a fairly new therapist, but the owner was quick to respond to my concern and make it right. For me, the quality of a company isnt about whether or not there are issues, its how the issues are handled. The owner, David, was quick to reach out and work to make everything right. At this point Ill concur with the other reviews of Zen and highly recommend. No matter what, they will take care of you!

Seeing all the great reviews for this place, I felt safe booking a “day before” appointment. I regret this. With all of my being. When my therapist came out, I was extremely uncomfortable, because not only did he appear very unkempt and unprofessional, but he had a noticeable odor coming off of him as we walked to the room. I really didn’t want this man touching my body, but I was trying to give him a chance and fighting my internal dialogue about judging a book by its cover. When the massage started I was laying on my back, and he started working on my neck. The close proximity to his face in this position put his breath near my face, and it was rancid. I had to hold my breath the entire time that he was working on my neck because the smell of his breath was so awful. I laid there thinking “I can’t wait until I flip over so I don’t have to smell his breath anymore.” I was so uncomfortable that I couldn’t at all relax or enjoy the massage. I forced myself to keep my eyes closed the entire time to keep my anxiety at bay. Throughout the massage he was very talkative and made many comments that also made me very umcomfortable—including saying that he “hated doing deep tissue massages on skinny girls” and telling me that he was also an esthetician and did waxing, but adamantly insisting that he did NOT do genital areas, which seemed so strange. The massage ended with him saying “ok. You can go ahead and get dressed, just let me put my shoes back on. I don’t like going barefoot in the hall.” I got dressed as fast as I could and bolted out of there. Strangest experience of my life and left feeling way more stressed then when I walked in. The massage itself was fine, and despite the hygiene problems and the social awkwardness, he seemed like a harmless and nice man. The entire experience was just so awkward and uncomfortable, but I was trying to keep an open mind and not judge him, but, if I’m being honest, because of his hygiene and uncomfortable comments, this therapist’s behavior me actually feel very fearful that something unsavory would happen in that room the entire time. I feel like it is my responsibility to share this to warn any other women especially before they put themselves in the same uncomfortable position.

The front staff were very friendly both on the phone and in person. The therapist was friendly and professional, I told her where I hurt the most. She spent more time in those areas than the rest which was good and all. I would have given a 4th star if she didnt spend time just running her hands down the area she was working on and if my feet were not skipped.Sadly though the deep tissue portion is where this all went south, she did apply more pressure than a typical massage it just wasnt what Id expect from a deep tissue one. The previous one I had that therapist had me close to tears and I felt wonderful for several days afterwards. With this one I felt good for a few hours and then all the pain I had going in was back making me feel I kind of wasted $79.**Update**As of 1/29/20 I have yet to receive any connect from the manager or owner as I was told I would. If I dont receive any contact by Friday 1/31 Ill be dropping my rating to 2 stars.I do wish to stress doing so does not reflect the professionalism of the therapist or their skill, it is a reflection on the store location. The therapist was not bad or failed to do their job, but as I stated above it wasnt a great deep tissue massage.** New update**Neither the owner nor manager reached out to me about my review so because of this Ive reduced my rating to 2 stars because of their lack of follow through and promises.** New new update**I did get in contact with the owner, lack of initial communication was simply down to them not knowing who I was or how to contact me.After speaking with the owner, I explained what I remember from my previous deep tissue massage and what I had at Zen, and he felt that another therapist would be a better fit for my muscular build and what Im after.With everything said in the conversation Im bumping my rating to 4 stars.

Have been going to Zen Massage since I moved the Olathe. I typically see Ryan and he does a great job. I need a lot of pressure due to really tight muscles in my neck/back and he is able to work out some really tight spots.

I have had massages every 4 - 6 weeks for years and have had to change locations a few times when my favorite therapist leaves or I moved. Ive now been going to Zen Massage for about 4 years and although Ive got my favorite therapist (Ryan), Ive never had a massage there I didnt thoroughly enjoy. It is very professional, calming, clean, consistent, and extremely reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place!

Miriam was great. Needed a deep tissue massage on my shoulders after working on a deck all week. Great facility and with positive attitudes. Feel great.

I have been going here for 5 years and absolutely love it. I have had a wide range of masseurs and masseuses and they are all phenomenal in their own ways. I know that I can count on feeling relaxed and my muscles relieved when I leave. The only complaint that I have is that the front desk people that I have encountered over the years have been consistently cold and unwelcoming. I know the quality of massage that I get every time for that reason, I continue to go back. However, the front desk people are the first people that you encounter as you walk in, and I believe that they should be trained to be friendlier and more welcoming or be held accountable to do so.

I have booked a massage with Kristen twice now. She does a fantastic job on working the areas that need the most attention. She is knowledgeable and its obvious that she is passionate about her job. I hope she is still available for future appointments. Id also like to add that Eva at the front desk was very friendly and said she would let me know personally when Kristen was available for an appt. That is good customer service.

Very professional staff and excellent massage for a fair price - without the nonsense that other salons charge. No membership and no frills. I dont need cucumber water and a steam room, so Im glad theres an option where I can skip all that and save $100 off the price of a massage.Highly recommend.

Booked a 30-minute Focus massage with Mary to relieve extremely tight lower back muscles after an accident. Mary found all of the pain points right away and worked out the knots. Immediately after the massage, I had better mobility and felt like I was standing taller. Mary is an angel, and I HIGHLY recommend her!

Great place! Ive been getting massages here for several years now. Never had a bad experience. Ive most recently started seeing Glen and hes very knowledgeable and knows what hes doing. I highly recommend him. The building is always very clean and well kept and the staff is friendly. Zero complaints.

This is something that I wish I had done years ago. This was my first ever massage. Ryan listened to where my pain was and past experiences...........nailed the much necessary areas, and now (the day after) I feel amazing. Rebecca did a great job on a deep tissue massage. I came in with a very knotted back and a very sore pec/shoulder. She listened to my issues and hit all of them. My back felt immediately better and could tell a lot of the tension was relieved.

My wife booked an appointment for me, and I arrived early to fill out paperwork per their instructions. The receptionist was friendly and thorough, and I had no wait, when my appointment time rolled around I was immediately brought to a room. I highly recommend Glen for relaxation and pressure work.

My therapist Kim was great. I explained the issues I was having, and she addressed them perfectly. The appointment process is easy. I really appreciate that that there are no membership requirements, and therefore, no sales pitches.

I knew going into this that I was taking a risk based on the price, and I wouldnt normally go to a place like this. My usual place was booked solid, and Zen could get me in on really short notice so I took a chance. You get what you pay for. I didnt think the massage was relaxing at all. The room was cold, the massage oil was cold, and the massage therapist acted like he was in a hurry and was rough. Usually when I get a massage I want it to last as long as possible, but this time I was just waiting for it to be over. I considered asking him to stop so I could just leave but I didnt want to be rude.

Our second great experience at Zen Massage in Olathe! I would definitely recommend their couples massages as a fun, relaxing experience with your significant other. They are always so accommodating and make sure that you are comfortable throughout the duration of the massage. We will definitely be back again!

The treatment that I received at Zen Massage in Olathe was beyond my expectations. I went for the first time and was treated by Erica. She was simply incredible. She had a great attitude, was very calm and in particular extremely effective. I felt very comfortable. The atmosphere was appropriate and relaxing (as it should be). I will definitely be going back again. I would highly recommend Zen Massage in Olathe. I went in for the deep tissue massage and Erica was excellent at locating my problem areas. I walked into this place in immense pain. I hadnt been able to sleep through the night in weeks due to multiple places on my body hurting tremendously. However, Jess has magical, healing powers Im convinced. I walked out and did a little Irish jig! Definitely go here. Amazing prices and an amazing massage.

I received a massage from Glenn, who is very knowledgeable about sports recovery and tension/stress relief, he also showed me some exercises that I can do at home as a bonus! I’d like to inform the consumers as well as the owner I have contacted the Kansas Environment and Health department about my concerns as it directly effects the consumers and their families. I am unable to comment on burglaries as the employee you forced to resign or myself have legitimate proof, that we shared with you and the authorities. Neither one of us were involved, and you not only accused and suspended her. But your forced her to resign after she gave you and the authorities geographical proof that she was no way involved, which you chose to ignore. As for this review, I am not breaking any laws. In fact I am voicing my experience as I am allowed to do under the First Amendment right. None of what I have said is false.I do plan to contact your corporate offices to explain to them the unsafe environment at the two locations you own as well as this exchange. Update your hours, I tried calling yesterday and saturday for help deciding on who would be best suited for what I needed. Finally drove in today and the door is locked with the word closed for the hours today. I used to come here all the time and wanted to finally come in because I felt comfortable enough and this happens. Completely unprofessional, a waste of my gas, and Ill be trying to find a new place now.

I had a great massage at Zens but I believe the ladies that greet you as you come in and as you leave could be a lot friendlier. Also i called a couple of weeks ago to inquire if you had a room that could be used for an Essential Oil class. I was told that someone would get back with me but no one did. Whether you have a room or not, it is good customer service to at least respond. Because of that, I will not return and can not recommend Olathe Zens.

I like Zen massage. They are reasonably priced with nice staff. My only complaint with this location is the American Shaman CBD store next door that was playing crummy music so loud that it drowned out the music in my massage room. It ruins the experience for me. I will go to the other Zen massage location from now on.

Ive always had excellent massages and excellent customer service here. Ive tried multiple therapists, and its difficult to pick a favorite because they are all so talented. The price is fantastic--$39.99 for a regular Swedish massage. I highly recommend Zen Massage of Olathe!

Ive been going to Zen Massage since it opened in Olathe, KS. I have always been treated exceptionally well. I always know when I see Owen for a massage, I will feel better for several weeks or more! I honestly dont know how I would feel without Owens expert care.

Sally is a freaking hidden gem. If you hit the Olathe location and are someone that enjoys a fantastic massage and some quality conversation, shes your lady. If you prefer a quiet atmosphere, she is perfectly accommodating to that as well. Shes full of life and experience and I always walk out feeling so much lighter. Go see her!

Oh, my. Becky is small but MIGHTY!!!. She gave me the best deep tissue massage. She found knots I didnt even know existed. She was thorough and has an amazing touch. I know I need to go more often and after my experience, I think Ill probably schedule a monthly massage.

I needed to either reschedule or be late for my appointment and the lady told me that she would charge the whole cost of the massage to cancel. I didnt want to cancel. She continued to explain that the paperwork that I signed...but this was a gift from my family...so what paperwork?!?! Not to mention that I wasnt trying to cancel. I then asked to speak with a manager and was told I could call the OP location for that. I did and was disconnected when I asked to speak with a manager! Called back the Olathe location to request that someone call me back and the lady then got an attitude with me. I tried explaining again that this was a gift from my son and she got very rude with me like this was all a joke to her! I have gone her for years with gift cards from my family and to be treated like this is appalling!!!!

I try to visit Zen once or twice a month for a tune up. Christina always does a great job, finding all the knots and working out the stress. I always come away totally relaxed and ready to face the world again. Highly recommended!

Mary Rommel is amazingly skilled in her profession. Im an Electronic CAD Designer with a lot of use with my Right mousing arm. This daily repetitive use causing pain.I also broke my right arm in Jan. 2021.Her Deep Tissue massage and cupping are immediate relief from soreness tight muscles and pain from overuse.Her attention to my details and finding just the right spots, leave me pain free. 🥳Ask for Mary Rommel. She is amazing 👏

Affordable and welcoming! I dont trust any other place because usually I end up wishing I was at Zen instead. Owners are friendly and family oriented people you can trust. At other places I felt guilty about spending the money afterwards, but at Zen I always felt like it was worth it.

I told whoever answered the phone that I needed to reschedule. She cancelled my appointment and attempted to end the call. I repeated my request to reschedule and she got my name wrong twice. When she asked me to repeat the spelling of my name again I spoke up assuming she couldnt hear me seeing as how I had to repeat myself so many times in one phone call and she told me there was no need to yell. I wasnt yelling. Very poor listening skills, and poor customer service.

Sent my husband for a massage. He specifically explained all he cared about was the knots in his back and shoulder area. The masseuse skipped over his concerns and left him feeling worse. No rectification was made and we paid for a massage that didnt help at all. I wont send him there again.

Jodi at Zen Massage Olathe is the best massage therapist my family, friends and I have ever experienced! The customer service and front desk receptionists are always incredibly kind and helpful as well! I have been a client at the Olathe location and will not ever go anywhere other than Zen for a massage!

So have attempted to have a couples massage many times here. About three years ago it snowed, not even that bad I might add and we drove out to the Zen in Overland Park and they just did not open that day and we were never called to let know. Then Attempted again in OVP last year they gave us the wrong date, then changed the time then called to state sorry we can only get one of you in. Figured we would try the Olathe location this time to see if was any better. Nope they called the day before and stated sorry we can only get one of you in. Its like they do not want customers to have a good experience. Go somewhere else where the value your business. : Response To Owner: and the other times Pre Covid that this has happened... Come on now....giving a half hearted response is worthless, this is three times this has happened not 1 but 3. Twice before Covid.

Ill preface this by saying I havent recieved a massage here, but have only inquired about it. Thats why Im only deducting 1 star. The process for scheduling appointments is crazy complicated. You have to email them, then wait for a call back. As someone who doesnt live by their phone and has times where I am unable to answer it, I feel this is not a good system. They need to change it where you can book appointment online or where you can call and actually reach a living human being, not an answering machine. What if you had to cancel your appointment last minute? You cant call and get anyone.

Cant get anyone to answer the phone. Left messages and sent emails. Contacted the corporate office, who contacted the local manager. The local manager said I understand your frustration at not having messages returned and I apologize for that. I was hoping youd spare me two minutes for a quick discussion - I respect your decision to go elsewhere and will not waste your time attempting to reverse it. But Id love to get some data from you that might help me figure out what went wrong.For instance, what phone number did you call from? And the rough dates/times that you called.
