Live Bait Restaurant

We have eaten here multiple times and visited the club whenever Flora-Bama is too full. They have most of your typical Seafoods like crab legs and catch of the day, but the firecracker shrimp is one of our favorites. The food is always great and consistent, and the club in the back is up-to-date and modern. Mainly geared for the younger crowd. They have plenty of parking in the back. A mechanical BULL SHARK, and you can also feed turtles. This place is always my go-to after being exhausted from being on the beach all day.

My first visit to Live Bait Restaurant was a mixed experience. While the crab cakes were not the best Ive had, the fish bites on the menu exceeded my expectations and left a positive impression. The customer service was a highlight, as the staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and comfortable.One of the most enjoyable aspects of the evening was the live music. The entertainment added a wonderful ambiance to the dining experience, making it even more enjoyable. Overall, Live Bait Restaurant has potential, and Id be willing to return for the excellent customer service and lively atmosphere, even though some dishes didnt quite hit the mark.

One of my wife and I’s favorite restaurants in Orange Beach. Atmosphere is great, and the food is always delicious. Highly recommend!

Staying at Holiday Inn Express Orange Beach location and decide to give this seafood place a try being so close by. We enjoyed the Crab Cake and Fried Oysters very much!The fish tacos are decent as well as the cobb salad, however, overpriced with the quality and the quantity. Same with the seafood gumbo.We do enjoy the beignets as well! Glad we stop by!

Being in the food industry for many years, I can say the place, surly impressed me. I proposed to my girlfriend and the staff went out of their way to make our special day even more special. Great staff, great atmosphere and great food. Thank yall, we will return and bring friends. And the bread pudding was, well after mine, the best I have had...lol

If you like great seafood and live country music then this is the spot for you. But then you walk in and you kinda see that it is set up more to be a nice family sit down place. That atmosphere can be a bit confusing with what you see and what you get. It can be a little too loud. But then were here for food and they sure didnt miss the mark on that. Although, we could use more alcohol in our cocktails. But for the price of the seafood and the flavors and amount you get for it, its definitely worth the visit. And definitely dont miss the $5 bout with the mechanical shark.

Best service we had in Orange Beach. Other restaurants werent bad, it is just that everyone at Live Bait was amazing. They were professional, friendly, and fast. We watched the guys cleaning tables, and they never stopped. We were so impressed overall that we asked to speak to the manager and praised the staff.I figure that since I complain when service is bad, it would be good to commend when it is top notch.We ordered gator bait bites for an app. They were good. Our table had the grouper tacos, bayou nachos, Megalodon platter, and seafood pasta. Those items are pictured. Two of our sons shared the platter and had leftovers. Everything was delicious and filling.10/10 will eat again.

We just stopped for a snack. I have a half dozen oysters and they were huge! Wife had a salad. We did not check out the club or the outdoor section. The staff was very attentive and our food was delicious. Beer selection was decent and cold

This was one of my favorite spots to stop for food on our trip. The atmosphere was awesome. The kids really loved the fish tank and the sharks all over. The food was really good, my wife had the Mahi Mahi, and I had the grouper bites. My wifes food was the best Mahi I have ever had. I was trying to get the gator poboy, but they ran out minutes before I could order sadly. Great place to take the family!

Not a bad seafood experience. Fried oysters had good taste and breading. The brussel sprouts had good flavor but were a little tough to chew. The Shark Bait drink was actually pretty good. Theres a nightclub section behind the main building if thats your thing. Theres a mechanical shark for riding as well.

We ate here Friday 8/16/24 and we had the worst food that weve ever had while visiting the coast in the past 30 years. We had fried pickles for an appetizer that tasted like they were freezer burnt. My wife ordered the crab cakes that came out with some type of green sauce on top that was supposed to be crawfish etouffee and it was inedible, I had the fish tacos that did not have any taste at all. There was a gentleman playing music that was obviously tone deaf and was also completely too loud for such a small room. No drinks, just appetizer and horrible food $82 and we wont be back!

I sat at the bar for dinner since it was just me dining tonight, and the bartender working was terribly not interested in doing his job. Zero personality, took forever to take my order. No refill offered on my empty tea, I had to ask for napkins and never checked to see how my meal was. Having said all of that, the 1 lbs steamed shrimp dinner was outstanding. Very nice sized shrimp seasoned and cooked to perfection.

We had breakfast here because everywhere else was an hour and half wait, yet the food, the waitress and atmosphere was phenomenal! We also had a party of 8, too. Once others find out about this place it will also have an hour and a half wait. Beignets, Benedicts, mimosas, chicken and waffles and much more. Scian was our waitress and she was on top of everything and a wonderful sense of humor!!!

The 6 of us each ordered something different and were all very happy. The fish tacos were the best thing I had during the while vacation. Awesome place to walk around and see turtles. Kids loved the electric shark!

The waiters clean off the outdoor tables and throw entire alcoholic drinks in the water, including the straws. Keep in mind there are turtles and other animals inhabiting the water here. An employee was bussing a table and threw every straw and drink in the water. Food was good though, hurts my heart to think about what else they might toss out to the animals.

Food was terrible. Shrimp was rubbery like frozen shrimp. Fish had no taste and fries were extremely dry. Kids got a chicken basket and hamburger basket, hamburger was plain and had no flavor, same with chicken. We came at a not busy time and it took 30 minutes to receive our food. The turtles are cool to look at but I do not recommend their food.

I cant remember the last time I had had better snapper. It was perfect, and our server was the absolute greatest. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So good, we all enjoyed the food and service was great. We had alligator bites, scallops, burger, crawfish poboy, and fried fish. The fried fish was plentiful and seasoned really well. The burger was great. Will definitely return in the future.

Honestly the main reason we visited here was for the penny machine, but we were also hungry so we decided to stay and eat. The service was great (I wish I could remember the name of the waitress - it was her second day) but she was great and very knowledgeable about the menu items. My mom raved about the scallops she ordered, and the sampler appetizer was great with plenty of food for the whole table.

Great atmosphere, good food, and okay service.It seems like they give their servers too many tables. At one point our server had 6 tables 2 of which were parties of 6. She was working her butt off but management should notice that is too much of a workload and affects staff and customer morale.Food was good. Hubby got shrimp and grits and rates it 5/5, our Bloody Mary was a shared appetizer for us and was delicious and fun!I got the breakfast plate with Gouda grits, which if you like cheesy grits are a must have! Would return to try something new here for sure!

We called ahead and made reservations, as we were traveling with a large group. The food was decent but the service wasn’t great and it was overpriced. It seems that we only had one waitress for a group of around 50 people. She did the best she could I think but there should’ve been more staff. Towards the end of the meal, a musician started playing and singing which lightened the mood. I don’t like giving bad reviews but I think it could’ve been a much better experience with preparations from management.

No reservations allowed! Our wait (party of 11) was about an hour. It was hot where we were seated, though the live music next to us was not too loud. We were short three plates and an entree. The sampler appetizer (not pictured) was extremely salty; everything else was mediocre.

This was my 1st time eating here. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. I went for lunch but it was after the lunch rush. It is also what we call snowbird season, not the summer rush crowd. It was pretty quiet. The building seemed pretty clean.The menu is nice, typical seafood menu for down here. I wasnt in a seafood mood unless it is fried crab claws....but those are just expensive right now everywhere. So, I settled for the chicken sandwhich with french fries, it also came with 2 hushpuppies. It was decent. Nothing good or bad to say about it. The tea was a little weird tasting due to whatever sweetener was in it, but not bad.Apparently though, our friends told the waitress they were waiting on 2 more people and she didnt even ask if they wanted drinks and left them sitting there for 20-30 minutes without anything to drink.......we just came from scuba diving so our friends were not happy as they were thirsty. Thats the only complaint. Other than that she was good.

We waited over 19 minutes after being seated before anyone even acknowledged we were seated. We ordered our entire order at once including an appetizer and waited 45 minutes on a Monday to finally get our food and the appetizer was served with the food. The food was cold when it arrived. I asked about it being cold and the waitress took it back for 8 minutes and brought it back out cold again. I then went to another waitress to ask for napkins and about the food a second time. She said go talk to your waitress.Unreal.

It was very busy when we went around 6pm on a Monday but worth it(first week of August)! The food can be a little pricey but the food they give is delicious and huge portions! The waiter was so kind unfortunately I forgot his name but he asked if we can switch tables so another family could sit close to each other and keep thanking us and even gave us a free dessert for moving:) I had the fish and chips, the fish was fried to perfection and hush puppies I mean who doesn’t like hush puppies.

The shrimp and Bayou nachos were good! The sides and crab cakes not so much. Didnt taste very fresh at all. Kinda disappointed with the price you pay. Service was just okay, nothing extraordinary. The musician last night was really nice!

Behind the restaurant is 2 bars. One is Karaoke, the 2nd has a DJ and the dance floor is always full on Friday or Saturday nights! I have partied on both sides & everyone was having a blast every time I have been here. The DJ bar (Live Bait) charged 40 a person to get in. I believe some well know DJ was there. The Tiki bar with Karaoke is free entry.

This place is like an oyster .. kinda rough on the outside but go inside and its a beautiful pearl! Loved the blackened gator bites and both soups were wonderful (Mixed them together and made a yummy new flavor!! Makenna did a great job and made sure we never wanted for anything.

Loved this place!! We actually went twice in one week. I had the fried shrimp both times. The service was great and the food was good. We just happened to be there on open mic day and that was fun too

We went for dinner. Ordered the shrimp and grits and the fried shrimp platter with Brussel sprouts. Although the food was okay we felt the portions were small for the price. The shrimp and grits had additional meats (not sure what they were) in them that were not described on the menu. The brussels are boiled. Service was good and our server was kind. There is a covered outside area where they have karaoke every night but no one was participating when we were walking out after dinner.

If u could leave zero stars that’s what I’d do! Me and my husband went for diner a year ago and service and food was great! This time we went we sat outside our food was wrong and on top of that we were never checked on or anything! We had to waive another server/bartender down just to get refills because our server was oblivious of us and only waited on one of her other tables! We sat there for 30mins waiting on our check and finally just waived down the same server/bartender to get our check! Absolutely ridiculous customer service

Not the same quality of food and service that it was 1 year ago.They no longer have Gator bites.If your ONLY eating seafood: Grouper was top notch. (They did run out of grouper a hour before closing time. 1 person at our table got Grouper. The others had to choose differently) Peel and eat shrimp are huge and have a great flavor. Mahi Mahi was also a good choice. Raw oysters were cold, fresh and large.If you plan to eat Chicken or steak: DONT!!! Lol. Both options had zero flavor.We sat in the bar area so that our party of 6 was able to be seated without a wait. We visited in Aug 2nd. The huge fans in the bar area cooled the patio well enough.The atmosphere (and turtles. Lol.) Were enjoyable enough.BUT!!! If you choose to sit in this area, do not expect the best service. It appeared to me the bartenders/wait staff were more focused on having a good time than making tips.

This was the worst service I have ever had in my life. We ate on 5/24/24, waited 10 minutes to have our drink order taken. Then waited 14 minutes to get our drinks, while a party of 9 came in after us and received their drinks before us. Food was good but didn’t see waitress the entire time had to ask other people to help us. Will not be going back, our waitress needs to be fired. Also tried to ask taller man for help looked right at me and ignored me. I usually do not wright reviews like this but the service was an absolute 0.

We were there late afternoon so there was only a few other customers. The staff were really friendly and made us feel like old friends. I had my very first seafood nachos here years ago and again on this trip. They were still great. My husband had the bohemith (?) seafood platter and he loved it but you better be hungry or share!!

We ordered Steamed shrimp and fish and chips. The shrimp was overcooked and cool served with shell still on! Wasnt even de-vained! It was like eating rubberized shrimp from being overcooked, The fish and chips were hot and okay but more of a panko style breading rather than a batter. Ate 2 shrimp and no more. Ate 2 straps of the fish and chips, and we stopped. Flagged waitress down to pay. She looked at all the food and didnt say a word. Came back with receipt and left! $56 for the worst dining experience weve had here in Orange Beach! We will never return to this establishment. A shame... Patrons beware if you go.....

My husband and I went there for the first time and we were excited to get seated so quickly...considering how busy everything is this time of year. The waiter was very polite, but made us feel a bit rushed. We had the gator bites as an appetizer and they were fantastic. My husband loved his New York strip steak and mac & cheese (they forgot to bring his mashed potatoes). I ordered the fish sandwich which was GINORMOUS!! I didn’t care for it much, it was very salty. We each ordered a mixed drink and we weren’t impressed with those. We probably won’t go back again, but it was worth a try.

Went to the restaurant July 2nd, 2024. Unfortunately my daughter spent the next day at Urgent Care as a result of food Poisoning.I called the restaurant, left a message for manager and did not receive a call back. Later I called again and once again had to leave a message for the manager. Finally, when she called back, her first words were, Hows your daughter? After telling her what was going on with her, she seemed to know and repeated back to me that the health department would be coming to check. It seemed like this had happened before and she knew what was going to take place with the health department.Dont think I will be returning.

Great place! Fun for the whole family! Had a group of 10. Good food and drinks. Live music was awesome and took requests. Lots of live turtles and half our group rode the shark! Lots of fun!!

On vacation looking for somewhere good to eat, we went to Docs the first night and then Live Bait the second. No comparison, live bait is much better food and not price gouged for dumb tourists like Docs is. There are plenty of great menu options at Live Bait (not just a bunch of deep fried seafood like Docs). The oysters on the half shell were twice as big as Docs and 4 dollars less for a half dozen. This place is a real restaurant with great food, prices are fair, atmosphere is much nicer and well decorated, aquarium and shark moulds for kids to look at, a little hot inside but thats par for the course in the summer. If youre looking for a place on the strip to get great seafood this is it. Also great filet mignon and other menu options. Wish I found this place quicker, will definitely be back if Im ever in the area again.

No long wait time and it was swearlty and humid in the restaurant. Over steamed crab (it stuck to the shell rather than being able to pull from the shell in chunks), super dry Mahi and the drinks were good. The guy playing live and singing was top notch.

Not really sure whats with all the negative reviews, other than it has fairly recently changed hands and is not the same restaurant as before. Its been 10 years since I was here last, and I do remember it being fine, not enough to compare it to what it is now. But, this review is based on my most recent dinner experience. And it was overall great!Our waitress was also a bartender, and the other bartender also checked in on us. They got busier and still managed to take care of us, too! We took forever to order so we appreciated the patience and helpfulness. Those ladies were hustling, though!I will say dinner options didnt seem overly appealing for whatever reason, hence why it took us so long to order, but the appetizers sounded amazing! So my husband and I opted for a few of those to share for our meals instead. We each started with a caesar salad. My husband had a dryer salad and mine definitely had a lot more dressing, but we were both satisfied with those. I actually prefer more dressing. Then we shared several appetizers following the salads.We ordered the calamari, the portion was a bit small, but the breading was light and crispy. We also got the 1/2 pound Crab Claws - sautéed style (maybe about 30 smaller claws, I had expected fewer and larger ones instead) but they were delicious. Lots of garlic and butter! We also had the Firecracker Shrimp and Rockefeller Oysters. My husband ordered the Shark bite mixed drink special. He said it was great. I had really wanted Rosé wine, but they didnt have much of a wine selection. A few whites and maybe a red. I settled for beer instead. All in all, it was all good and there were no leftovers!

Disappointed. I specifically asked if the seafood was fresh before I ordered. I was told yes. Sadly it was not.For the quality of food they are over priced. The alligator bites are disgusting.My grilled scallops were chewy and undercooked.The brussel sprouts seemed slimy, not sure what the sauce was on it but for sure been sitting around for some time.The fish and chips, fish was ok - yet the fries were old tasting.Mac and cheese was also old tasting.Weird sauce on the grouper tacos. I think it was the same as what they out on Brussels sprouts.When we left there were tables from others with lots of fish left on their plates.

Honestly very let down, I was hoping for a decent dining experience. The appetizers started off strong, but after that it was all down hill. I didn’t get my correct order. Half the items on the menu I couldn’t actually get because “it’s not on the computer” even though it’s written on the menu. Price was honestly set pretty high for such sub par food.

Ordered the Megalodon Platter, stuffed crab cakes were undercooked and cold. Fries were not salted. Waiter never refilled waters for everyone at the table, and had to be asked for another refill (given to only one parson).18% tip automatically added into bill, regardless of food or service.Live music was nice, but it was challenging to speak over the base.

Good service and food. We got a souvenir tikki glass with a purchase of a alcoholic drink. Worth the price. We tried the gator bites for the first time and they are excellent, they taste like chicken lol. I got the bacon jam burger with coleslaw and my boyfriend the fish of the day with shrimp and fresh oysters .

We had such an AWESOME experience at Live Bait! The mechanical shark was down but I called everyday to check 🤣 well it was open our last night & it was SO MUCH FUN! The staff there was incredible, the food & drinks were delicious, & we seriously laughed about the shark ride all night. We will definitely be back on our next orange beach trips!!

Live Bait used to be a great place for our family to go, but it has gone down hill over the last few years. The prices have gone up tremendously, but the quality of service and food has plummeted. The fish and chips were good, but WAY overpriced . The Greek nachos appetizer will always be a family favorite that we actually get for a meal.($10 for small $15 for large) This time I tried the BBQ shrimp, which really confused me. The shrimp was dripping with some really great sauce, but they still had to be peeled. This was ridiculously messy to peel and it removed all the sauce. The whole process seemed to be senseless...I deeply regretted my decision to get this.

DARLING place! The food was absolutely out of this world. Huge portions and the cutest live band. Good vibes all around. Karaoke and a cute little backyard bar! This is definitely a must stop on your orange beach stay!

Great food!!! I splurged on a $30 plate of 1lb crab legs. They were good. Great atmosphere and out waiter was very attentive. I would go back here if I was in that area again.

We didn’t want to wait in line at the breakfast place a few doors to the West so we opted for this place. What a great discovery. We had the Crawfish Omelette and the Sunrise BL(G)T and both were great. The service was friendly and fast.

Recently changed their name to Sharky’s. The food was not good at all. 7 of us went July 6, 2024 and no one finished their meals. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We went about 6 in the evening. It didn’t seem very busy. The hostess seated us, and then we sat there for more than 10 minutes without even a drink order being placed. At least 5 employees walked by our table, and nobody spoke to us.

Great restaurant and run by really good people. Were locals and come here regularly.

I just keep coming back to this restaurant! The food is phenomenal, the karaoke is so much fun, and they have the best service! Whenever I go, I ask for Holly. She is the sweetest and always makes sure we have everything we need to have a good time!

I’m not going to lie, when we pulled in I didn’t have high hopes of anything but fried bar food. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! They had a large menu and the food was amazing! My husband got the Grouper Pontchartrain, he said it was the best grouper he’s ever had. And the staff was very friendly, the kids loved sitting on the patio and seeing the gators and turtles, highly recommend.

Nice food and service. Not skimpy with the food or sauces, nice staff, great view, and a gator with turtles to check out off the back patio.Strait seafood dishes were great, Alfredo was ...ok.

We first attempted to eat at Live Bait Saturday evening, but were told there was an hour wait. We tried again Weds evening and were seated promptly. The prices are identical to the other seafood restaurants. I had the Shrimp Alfredo pasta dinner. It only comes with a small dinner roll, so also ordered cole slaw. The food was good, and the Cole slaw was very good. Im giving just 3 stars because of the service... Our waitress took our orders, brought my beer (1), and we never saw her again. Someone from the kitchen served our food. I would have ordered another beer, and probably dessert, but our waitress went MIA. Someone from the kitchen came out and took our plates away, after we sat for awhile looking at empty dirty dishes. Finally the waitress arrived with the check. We probably wont return, as there are many of the same sort of restaurants offering better service.

Its ok ... Food was ok. Service was ok. Karaoke was AMAZING! So, go for karaoke and maybe order food...but if you have a gluten allergy... Just stay for karaoke! 🙂

Live Bait has the best seafood I had the seven days I was in Orange Beach.*a year later*They are not the same place as last year. The whole place was painted over inside and out with white paint covering all the personality of last year. If you are looking for Chilis by the ocean with good food, this is it now. The picture above is double the current portions. I got red snapper, the fish was quality, but basic on a bed of fries. The staff is still awesome, and the food is still good just more bland like the walls.

We had both breakfast and a dinner here during our vacation in mid May 2021. Will DEFINITELY recommend the breakfast portion wise as well as flavorful. Must try the Country Fried Chicken with Sausage Gravy, FABULOUS! The Crab Cakes and Gouda Grits were amazing! The server, Haley, was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and simply outstanding for both of our visits as we requested her for our dining experience two nights later with friends. Fresh catch well prepared and Shrimp Scallop Risotto was FAB!!! Will come back simply to dine here again with Haley on our next visit.

These are the new menu under new management. My French dip was so salty I could barely eat it. The fries were soggy. The restaurant was very slow. When we needed things our waitress never returned. She was sitting in the lobby. I hope new management takes this into consideration. For how slow they were our service should have been amazing. The food should have been fresh.

The chargrilled oysters were the best we have found so far in Orange Beach. They had the authentic, chargrilled flavor!

Great food, especially the gator bites appetizer. Cool spot with a chill atmosphere. Little pricey, but the plate portions are big.

I had the pirate platter, it was good. The sampler was interesting too. Fried alligator & pickle slices. Karaoke started at 7pm and setup was cool. It was interesting sitting outback and seeing the gators and turtle marsh habitat. Pretty fun place IMO.

Poor bartender was swamped! Tending bar, waiting tables, closing tabs, etc. Sure dont blame him, though! Blackened shrimp was delicious! (Outside bar)

I had a great shrimp platter, batter was light and well seasoned. Coleslaw (fresh, pickled) and hush puppies (sweet tasting) are great too! We had great waitress! We would go back!

We went here on a Saturday night after our arrival to the area. Many of the other restaurants has large wait times and this did not. We liked the name of the place and took a chance.Cost of the food was high, but I kinda expect that for a tourist town.The food was really excellent. The gator bites were good and the grouper dish was probably one of the best fish dishes I think I have ever had. I might avoid the po-boy unless you like mostly bread.The service was good and overall friendly.Two main negatives:We went there on a live music night. I think it was maybe the position of our table but it was loud and we could not really hear each other at the table to talk. If you are going for a conversation, you may want to consider that.The place has a cool mechanical shark for 5$ a ride. I wish it was a two tries ride (kids wanted to try). So...gimmicky but the experience makes for good pictures.Definitely a place I would go again.

The food was average quality and taste. My husband’s meal was cold, and my meal had an odd “twang” to it. I’m assuming it was the syrup but I’m not certain. It was a little over-priced for the quality.

Delicious grouper Pontchartrain... both panko breaded and grilled! We were seated immediately and served quickly and thoroughly enjoyed the live entertainment. We will be back!

The fried oysters was large and delicious. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I use a walker and the restaurant was easy to get around in. The ♿️ parking was OK.

Grouper was very good, green beans crisp and tasty. Bacon jam burger was flavorful, however you can only have it cooked with no pink. Food was served in a timely manner. One drink purchased, not the best, short on actual alcohol, so overall flavor affected adversely. Atmosphere is on the noiser side, with large crowds and music. Server was friendly and prompt. They took charge seating when the normal host was busy.

This restaurant was able to accommodate our party of 20 on a Saturday at that! Service was great, food came out impressively quick!

Good food, good atmosphere, friendly service. Filet was one of the most tender we have had and crab was very good (but market price was high).

Well a year later and I updating my past review from 5 star to a 2 star. While the service was good the food just sucked. It was a gulf shores staple for us but it may just be the last straw. The food was ehhh, fries were cold, the atsmophere was just not the same. Their old chef has moved on to a restraunt in Pensacola, as we found out. We use to brag about how good everything was but its just mediocre now. Crazy what a difference a year makes. Shrimps & grits were my go to but as you can tell from the pics they just dont compare. Not hard to figure out what one was a year ago.

We just ordered the fried crab claws and the firecracker shrimp appetizers with side salads. Both were excellent. Crab claws were fried perfectly. Salads were fresh and crisp. Will definitely be back.

Had a great time. Friendly, attentive staff. We shared the Pirates Platter and my son got the Snow Crab. Yum! Loved the Shiver Me Timbers drink.

I love this place!! Always come here when I’m visiting. Holly is the sweetest and always makes sure we’re taken care of. Great food and fun atmosphere.

Kinda failing at this review 🙄 when our server brought out our food, it looked so amazing that everyone dug in before I could get photos. We ate here for breakfast and let me just say that this is a MUST STOP! The atmosphere is fun and upbeat and this was probably the best meal weve had this trip. One kiddo got country fried steak with breakfast potatoes and scrambled eggs, hes the picky one and he cleaned his plate. Another kiddo got chicken and waffles, he didnt care for the sauce that came on it but the waffles and chicken, but oh my 😍😋 he just covered it in syrup and it was a hit! I got the one egg breakfast with the gouda grits, fabulous!!! Everything was fresh, homemade (no packaged gravy here) and SEASONED! We thoroughly enjoyed this meal and will definitely be back, next time Ill get pictures!

I got a recommendation for this as the best seafood on the beach. I can say that the 1 pound royal red shrimp “low country boil” special was great. Corn, potatoes, sausage and a pound of very large royal reds. My server was super nice and didn’t let my water get empty. The owner checked on me a couple of times and even bused the table. I tried the key lime pie, and even though it wasn’t made there it is a very good local bakery that supplied it. Excellent

Passing through and stopped for lunch. The food was great, and the prices even better. The staff was attentive and super friendly. The atmosphere was super cool, with sharks everywhere. Thanks for a fun meal!

This place was pretty good. We went about 5:45 we had 6 people and no wait. The prices were pretty comparable to other places in town. They have several choices of seafood and a different cuts of steaks. I had gator bites for an appetizer and the surf n turf (pic attached) for my meal. The food wasnt bad, but the steak couldve been a little bigger. There was in door and outdoor seating. They have an outdoor bar and karaoke area as well as a mechanic shark (bull) to ride. They are located on a swamp and you can feed the Gators and turtles. You can buy the food for 25¢. Overall I would go back, but I wasnt overly impressed. They are in a good location on Perdido.

Went for NYE dinner and our service was top of the line. I really enjoy visiting this place when in town. Food is pretty good, I recommend the firecracker shrimp appetizer. After dinner we went to the nightclub in the back and had an enjoyable time. The bartenders were friendly as well. Will be back!

We searched for Gator for a few days and finally found it here! We ordered the Sampler appetizer and it was amazing. Our picky kids downed the fried gator and fried crab cakes in no time lol. Two of my kids got the Gater Alfredo and wow, probably the best restaurants Alfredo Ive ever had. Husband and son got Gator PoBoys grilled and blackened. They were delicious. I ordered the Catch of the Day, Grouper, and fried Scallops. All delicious! Im not usually a fish fan but I could eat that grouper all day.I cant leave our waitress, Georgia, out! She was one of the best waitresses ever. So sweet, patient, and answered so many questions. She was definitely the cherry on top of an amazing experience!

Very affordable restaurant with fresh and delicious food. It is always on our list when visiting Orange Beach. Great place for families!

This place was very good. It is large enough to hold people with out much of a wait if any. Live music was great and the singers passed around a toy chest for the kids to choose something. My wife and I had the crab legs and shrimp and shared. Plenty of food. I ordered the raw oysters and the rockefellers and both were amazing. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area

Went this past Friday & food was horrible. Ordered the blackened grouper, as it was the catch of the day, I do not recommend. My brother ordered some fried shrimp, and it looked like they brought out popcorn shrimp, also not good. Please do better.

Fast, friendly, great food, great atmosphere. Had 2 orders of oysters on half, mac-n-cheese crabcake, and a fun turtle drink!

Always a super fun place. Just stopped in for a drink this time but have eaten here many times. Didnt see the gators this time, but we did feed the turtles. Try the specialty drinks!!!

Ive been here quite a few times and the food and service has always been consistently good. The portions are very large so my husband and I usually get an appetizer and an entree to split.

Service and food was amazing! I dont eat seafood so when at the beach its hard finding a good burger. This place had it. My wife enjoyed the crab leg dinner as well. Drinks were delicious! Would definately recommend!

This place had a great atmosphere despite the music being a bit too loud to hold real conversations. My only real complaint is that they dont allow a substitute of sides which is a real bummer. Does anyone else actually eat these whole red potatoes that come with crab legs? I never have and wouldve loved if I could switch the sides out of a $30 dish for some plain French fries.

Best breakfast in town hands down. I had the country fried chicken breakfast and gouda grits. Delicious!!!

Good variety of food. My kids liked the chicken tenders. They were thick and tasty. Blackened scallops, brussel sprouts, and grits were de-lish!

The shrimp and grits was the best Ive ever had, and it was huge. My husbands fried shrimp were big and well seasoned. The staff was friendly and efficient. Everything came out quick. Its a bit loud in there though, especially if someone is playing that night.

Wow! So far the best restaurant we have eaten at in orange beach. Great ambience and live music. I recommend a visit if your in orange beach. Service was topnotch!

Night Club is a good little place to dance and have some fun, I will come back next time

This was a fun place to go. The kids loved the pirate cups and all the sharks. Food was good, but they were definitely not following the CDC guidelines for seating people 6 ft away or the servers wearing masks.

Went here twice on our 7 day vacation. Liked the atmosphere, food, prices, deliciously cold beer and live band!! Fettuccine and Nachos are also great, recommend Pirates Platter, Crab Legs to share and Fairhope beer!

Ate there twice first time for supper and came back 2 days later for breakfast, both where good

I couldnt imagine a better dining experience. The staff were all incredibly friendly and inviting. The food was spectacular. They even took the time to make sure that the coleslaw was good and not just something to throw in a container. A great place for the family, kids will love to ride the shark or visit the souvenir shop. Truly exceptional!

They sold to another company the food quality and plating is below par i here the chef moved on and it shows the photos on the left is last night the one on right is last year big difference

Stopped for our first lunch. Cool place inside. The kids were scared of the carpenter bees outside. Food was just OK for an $80 lunch with no adult beverages. We got barbecue shrimp and the shells were still on??? What a disaster. The fish and chips were our best option. Staff is friendly.

This started out as a terrible experience - waited outside (while 8 months pregnant) for an hour and half on a 45 minute wait because the hostess didn’t verify our phone number. At closing we checked on our name, the hostess said they weren’t seating anyone else. The manager graciously sat us, got our food out as quick as she could, and comp our ticket by 20% (or something like that). Recovery of a mess up is key. Greek Seafood Nahos are TO DIE FOR and the Pirates Platter satisfied both me and my son 😋😋😋

The food is basic. Its seafood with not much flavor to it. The gumbo needs to be revised and redone. its very thick, like gravy. The atmosphere is fun, especially with Karaoke and the DJ. They also have a dolphin ride like a bull ride. Unfortunately, when the group I was with went to wait to pay to ride the dolphin, we were told the associate was on break. We waited 15-30 mins, and we proceeded to walk away. The associate was standing there the whole time, not wanting to work. The associate who was standing by the security guard for the club walked up to the ride as we walked away. I was fine with not spending my money. The only good thing was the Karaoke, DJ, and the fact its one of the only places that stay open super late.

I really liked this place, I truly believe that they are the best fried oysters in the Orange Beach area. Both times I went the servers were nice. Only problem was the first night we went my family was told that we couldnt sit out back because after a certain time it turns into a nightclub. After this, we saw a couple little girls around the age of 5 running around outside though. But the incredible food made up for this.

The Filet was cooked perfectly. The seasoning and sear were absolutely on point, and the sides were delicious. Amazing food!

One of the best sea food spots Ive ever been to. The service was top notch and the food was amazing. Definitely worth my whole AIB check. I am also a senior at the Alabama School for the Blind. Thank to to Jewell for recommending this amazing spot.

Overall, its your typical tourist place. The food was okay, no wait during dinner rush. The entertainer was the best part, and could play a variety of country tunes with guitar/vocal. Had to flag the server down a few times for drink refills and getting the check, despite low crowd. Menu said $3 charge for every alteration to the dish, which seems a bit much to me.

I had no idea that it was Jimmy Buffet week here, so there are some look a likes and lots of loud singing.

Ordered kids chicken tenders for my child. She was still hungry after dinner, because the chicken strips werent even the size of chicken nuggets.

Comfortable atmosphere, great food and amazing service. Was there by myself the first time and ate at the bar had great service and great food. Returned on a later visit with family and friends and had a second great experience.

Great boil and oysters, had a memorable lunch here. Would like to return to try other menu items soon.

We had no wait on a Friday night at 6 (party of 5...3 kids), the service was great and we loved the food. We even saw turtles and an alligator after dinner by their tiki bar. This place is wonderful!

We came in expecting mediocre food due to some of the reviews, but we are glad that was not true! The oysters were great, and so were the gator bites, fish tacos, and Alfredo! Our server Andy was great also! I would definitely return.

Not what it used to be. Service was good overall and so was the food. The atmosphere was no good. Music was way too loud both inside and outside. We love live music so volume usually doesnt bother us bit the music was irritatingly loud and distracting. It also felt dirty and run down. We ate fast so we could leave. Will not be back.

Ordered the Grouper, grilled, baked potato. It was fine. It wasn’t bad, just not OMG good. The drink was fantastic! Service was fine. The live entertainment was fantastic! Solo artist, Heath, country music. Very good performance. Would definitely go back.

Ive never been treated so poorly. We got sat next to our servers friends where she herself sat and ate in between looking over at us waiting to order. She had no idea what was on the menu and no way of knowing how to correct a wrong order. We never had napkins once the wrong food came to the table. Ive never in my life had such a bad experience. All you could here was our server talking about what time they close and how they are going to party hard soon.Will never ever go back.

This was suggested to us by a local. Excellent food. Decent prices. Great staff and the service was fast. Andi was such a hoot and so sweet. She made the experience over the top for us. We will make this a must go to every time we come back into town.

Surprised at how great the food was. Easy seating late on a Wednesday, Memorial Day week…. as all other favs had huge waiting lines. Also had traditional nachos and they were good. Had only eaten part when entrees show up. Had shrimp alfredo and family experts gave it high ratings! Best they’d had this trip. Had a burger and fries and could only finish 1/2, and fries were so good! We caught family karaoke night in the Tiki bar, and a cute 6yr old stole the show! Husband also enjoyed 🎤, he stayed til they closed it. Wait staff was really friendly, especially to our 12 yr old!

We were seated on the deck outside and the view was pretty nice. Our server Brandon took our orders and he never checked on us again. Someone else delivered our food. The food was good overall.I had to go the bar multiple times to request drinks and napkins. It was rude the way he ignored us. The bartender on the patio had to come and ask us if we wanted our check after quite a while of waiting. When I pay over $110 for a meal I expect better service. We would come here again but would request to make sure not to sit in his section.

Went to live bait restaurant late last night, my wife and I had salads, I had the awesome Cobb salad, big and very well plated for the customer, if you like salads you will like this one, if you are on vacation give this place a try, I would recommend a few visits, oh and the staff were great👍

So the food here was absolutely delicious. I should give this a two star but didnt. The reason why a two star was because we saw our waiter three times. To take our order, bring us our drinks, and to check us out. We either had to get up and ask others for refills or other things. Not happy about that at all. I understand people get busy but communicate.

The Grouper w/ crawfish sauce was phenomenal. Friends got the fish of the day which was Mahi Mahi they were very happy with it. Was the best meal we’ve had down here so far. Gator bites and Fried pickles were amazing too.

(Family Vacation) We really enjoyed this place.The restaurant (we had brunch) with the kido fed the turtles and watched alligator. My 10 yr son enjoyed it. Oh mimosas were good and only.like 4l3-4 bucks (not sure if it was some sort of special)Adults Revisited later club side. It was not many people (but enough) drinks were average, bartenders nice and attentive, DJ played multiple types of music, He was obviously paying attention to his crowd. Pop, soft rap, line dances, it was a lot of young pleasant people but we still enjoyed Talking to and dancing with people from different backgrounds and nationalities. Security at door, and front door staff friendly and inviting.

Excellent food and the employees are awesome! We came in for lunch and had shrimp, firecracker shrimp wrap and pasta. The server was helpful and nice as we made our meal decisions. The firecracker shrimp wrap was one of my favorite meals.On a side note, my daughter left her purse in the restaurant and did not realize it until we were on our way home the next day. When we called and talked to a manager we found her purse was safely locked away in an office. Luckily, we have family nearby and they also checked our family members ID to ensure it was going to the correct person. Thank you to the manager and staff for their help! We will definitely return next time we are on the Gulf coast!

Extremely disappointed after choosing this spot that came so highly recommended. It felt more like a tourist trap between the drink menu of multiple $25 drinks to the karaoke bar blaring outside. We were a party of 5 adults and 2 kids. We were seated in a small room that was more like a breezeway between the restrooms and the outdoor bar. We waited so long for a drink order that 2 in our group went to the bar to order and still got their drinks quicker than we did. After there being a wait for drinks and a wait for appetizers, we found out that they were out of most of what our party was there for….crab legs, crab cakes and filet. If it wasn’t for waiting so long already and it not being too late, we would have left and went elsewhere.

Had an absolutely great experience. This place is a diamond in the rough. When you have been to some the other places and the go to Live Bait you have to wonder why its not as busy as the others. In my opinion this place should be packed all the time. Honestly one of my favorites in the gulf shores area. Thanks Live Bait!!!!!

1st time visitors. Bartender Constantine genuinely helped us figure out our tastes for the evening; wife loved her fish tacos and I loved the Zydeco pasta. Definitely made an impression, that we will come again next time we are in town. Fresh Beignets was perfect dissert for a perfect dinner. FYI: military friendly.

I will start off with the food was great. I had grilled shrimp meal. It was perfect!Now the service was not that great. Our waitress showed up for drink order and take our order and the ticket. We had a food runner bring the food, and another waitress had to check on our drinks.Now the other complaint was the “large party” gratuity. We have always seen it be 8 people or more. It is 6 people or more. Now as a local we venture to take people into best places. We got hit with 18% gratuity for our 6 people. Needless to say we probably won’t be frequent customers since the new owner has changed things this much.

We were so disappointed in every aspect of our visit to Live Bait. The food was barely mediocre, there is no bar menu or drink specials for the venue. I failed to get my order from the bar after ordering not once, but twice.The waitress was extremely unfamiliar with food or bar menu, this is the fault of management.Food was not delivered until 50 minutes after we arrived. And in waves, not all together. And two of the meals were not correct. (The restaurant was not crowded).Portions were small for the price. And to add insult to injury, the tip was added to our bill without permission. I normally leave a 20-25% tip minimum, but this meal and service was so bad, we left only their “mandatory” amount.This used to be one of my favorite places in OB, but I will likely not return.

Our family went to this place last year (2021) and really enjoyed seeing the alligators along with a good meal at a fair price. Went back this year, we did not get to see alligators and we were completely ripped on on the meal price. The place has average food at best… nothing special and for 8 people to eat with only two drinks , 1 appetizer) normal orders of an entree, nothing extra, the purchases was $330….. we questioned why it was so freaking high, the waiter just said he had not seen one of the items priced so high. They also put gratuity on the bill and only told one of us. We did not have a printed bill, so on top of the rip off pricing, we tipped way more also. We were all furious upon leaving and will not go back! Bummer…. We were looking forward to that meal.

Crab legs, potatoes and corn came out unseasoned it looked and tasted so bare. It came with a side of butter, I asked for a side of Cajun seasoning but it still didn’t taste good because it was boiled plain. The worst seafood with no favor. Not the place to go for seafood.

Ate here for breakfast on the way home. First, the server was top notch. Kevin came back to check on us multiple times, and was very pleasant. Best waiter we had all week. Eggs, bacon, waffles and potatoes were all fresh, and tasted great. Will be back next year!

We ordered alcoholic drinks but there was no alcohol in any of them. They claim that there was an ounce in a quarter of alcohol in all their drinks but that was hog wash. Will not go back to this place and wouldnt recommend it for anybody else. The server didnt even offer to show us the brunch menu.

Food came really fast, looked and tasted fresh! Drinks were sized perfectly, Wait staff were very nice and attentive. Prices were much higher than I expected.

Delicious lunch and kind staff. I got the Ahi Tuna Wrap and found it well seasoned but a little messy. The prices are tourist prices so expect to pay a bit of a premium. I came between shifts and the bartender even apologized for not being as readily available, while I felt like I had my every need met promptly. A very clean and updated look and wonderful staff.Don’t come here if you are a seafood connoisseur but if you’re just looking for a great lunch near the beach, I highly recommend it.

Closes at 9:00. When I told hostess it shows on Google it closes at 10 she said look at the door. Rude. I will not be back.

The wait was not bad for a Friday and a Saturday night. After we were seating and ordered our food came out within minutes. We also enjoyed the live music! Great atmosphere to get you in a fun mood

Interior of the facility is nice and pleasant. Food was good. Not the best Ive had, but still very good. Crab legs and shrimp was very dry, maybe a little over cooked. Bubbas has better Crab Legs. Wife enjoyed her food so thats what counts. Happy wife equals a happy life.

Great food and friendly staff! You get so much food for the price. We had so much left over that we have made 2 more meals from it! The owner or manager came by our table which was a nice twist; we arent use to that where we come from; he introduced himself and asked if we needed anything... The mechanical shark was a treat to watch as customers tried to ride the shark.. We had a great time and look forward to going back!

My guests and I (6 total) visited for diner and karaoke. We were seated inside with no issues. Our waitress took our drink and appetizer orders. When drinks were brought out there were multiple incorrect drinks. The appetizers were acceptable. We placed our main course orders, it was a replay of our drink orders with multiple incorrect dishes being brought out. We tabbed out and proceeded outside for karaoke. The karaoke DJ was great, unfortunately the bartenders outside were ABSOLUTELY THE MOST disrespectful and rude people I have ever encountered. I do not ever leave bad reviews as I am a business owner, but I’m this case I would be doing a injustice to the owner as well as future patrons if not.

Breakfast was really really Good. Service was great atmosphere was great, Bloody Mary was great everything about breakfast was great 5 stars for sure. This prompted us to return for a dinner meal. Well that was not so great 1st requested outdoor seating which was a big mistake because they allow smoking outside. Never thought to ask the question since most places we go do Not allow smoking. 2 ladies sat down and lit up when we had just gotten our food. Then we come to the food. Food was not hot not cold but room temperature. The staff was very friendly and polite. Do not get the gumbo it was pitiful. Seafood platter had enough French fries for 4 or 5 people and the fish, oysters and shrimp were average.

I might have given this place a higher rating if I hadnt already had amazing meals afterward. There was live music and quick service, prices pretty decent. My cocktail was very sweet, one was plenty. We shared the fried pickles appetizer. Huge portion but salty, so beware. I had the Red Drum, blackened and it was amazing. Service was good, the place was packed, didnt sense that covid precautions were firmly in place.

We’ve partied there a few nights and always had a great time.This is for the restaurant, which we had never ate at previously.My brother in law got married on the beach. The planned reception was at another establishment. The owner of said establishment cancelled on us the day of the wedding. (Screw you Chappy) so needless to say that we were in a bind and needed someone to take us last minute for a fifty top on about 7 hours notice. We figured since we planned on spending time at the club after the reception that we would see if they were interested in accommodating us.Keep in mind that they do not take reservations. The manager Jared, cleared out a room and was able to sit the entire party. Food was great, staff was kind, and we will definitely be going back. Thanks Jared!!!

We had a great time! Awesome live band, great food and great service. Our server Chloe recommended the risotto and it was awesome! The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly. I give four stars because the lighting was too bright. Turn it down a bit and set the mood. We’d definitely come back!

I normally love Live Bait now that new ownership is in place but I got super sick from the food there last night. The crawfish were still dirty and the meat was disgusting-- it was gray indicating the crawfish had been dead sometime before cooking and was a bit undercooked and rubbery at the same time. The shrimp did not seem like it was fresh by any means. It tasted like the store bought stuff in bags. The pasta portion was seemingly cut in half from what it normally is too which was disheartening considering it was $30 pasta. I feel like $80 went down the drain.

The food was amazing. The good looked (and tasted) much more upscale than the outside of the restaurant. I definitely recommend the grilled shrimp and the brussel sprouts were some of the best Ive ever had. The waiter we had was excellent. He was very nice and also attentive to our table. We didnt have a wait at lunch.

Customer service was excellent. Cant say enough about how nice the guy was. I was seated at the bar, because I was by myself. The food was pretty good. I had the shrimp dinner. The coleslaw and hush puppies were amazing. The shrimp was a bit overcooked, but it had a great taste. That is the only reason I didnt give it 5 stars. Again, the bartender/waiter was awesome. He has worked there for a while, I believe. I will definitely be back.

Great experience. We ate outside on the patio. Kids loved feeding the turtles. Food was really good. Ahi Tuna nachos were huge and excellent. The firecracker shrimp appetizer was good too just a little to much sauce. My daughter had the popcorn shrimp basket. It was good but the corn bread hushpuppy thay came on the side was really good. Only con was they wouldnt serve draft beer on the patio :(

Mediocre food and service at a premium price. I would rate this place as “okay”.I was expecting more / better. My children’s soda tasted strange, as did mine. I ordered grouper tacos, and they were not good. Coming from a person who loves fish, Cole slaw, spicy things, and tacos…. They were barely good enough for me to eat. Fries were bland and mushy. They were clearly frozen fries, but at that price point should be fresh cut.Don’t come here expecting world class food and service. You won’t find it. The only reason I gave them two stars was because the food came out somewhat timely, and the wait wasn’t unbearable for a weekend.

2 out of 5 of us enjoyed our meal, one enjoyed was a kids grilled cheese. The singer was great and fun atmosphere but server seemed more concerned with sanitizing than customer service. 2 of our meals were cold by the time we got them and apparently didnt care about doing refills. Alligator bites were good though.

Our server was very unaware of what was going on...maybe she was overwhelmed with our 10 top party, but still she lacked personality in a very large tourist city, and to me that the best place to come alive and get your money as a fellow server. The food was very bland and the seafood(crab legs) were $50, served cold and very small. You guys can do better than this for sure!!!

Really good food except from the grits they were really dry. Everything else we tried was great.

My wife and I are here for our honeymoon and really looking to have a good time. One visit to this place prevented that this evening. We called this establishment before we left the Phoenix across the street and the recording said “no reservations” no problem we look across the street, no too busy no waiting patrons out front, no problem. My wife and I walk across the street walk in and asked for a table for two. We were told it was a two and a half hour wait and they would not be taking our names or serving us due to the wait time going beyond the time they are open. This is problematic due to the fact there were zero and I mean zero people waiting to get in there and this was a good hour and ten minutes before they closed. If your cook wants to go home early, say it, don’t lie. Don’t tell me there’s a wait and there be absolutely no one waiting. It’s pathetic and shows lack of leadership inside this establishment. Want good food and nice staff? Go next door to Docs we waited 40 minutes and had a great dinner. They saved our evening.

My sister and I have eaten here twice during the last few days. Everyone we came in contact with was so friendly and helpful. The food was good, but the service was excellent! We sat at a table in the bar area, and the bartender, Austin Blake, was our server. He was so friendly and attentive. I haven’t had service that good in a very long time! We will definitely be back!

We came in because there was a cool shark on the roof. They got one inside too! Burger was good. :)

I ordered the fresh catch which was Mahi Mahi. It was possibly the best piece of fish I have ever eaten. I will definitely be back!! My husband ordered the shrimp po boy. He really enjoyed it as well. Our service was good as well.

Tourist spot for sure. Prices we high but the amount of food is on par. We ordered way to much food. Make sure you ask the waiter about portion size! We hate to waste food... we could have had eyes bigger than stomach?... atmosphere is good with the wait shorter than told. Gets busy quick in the early evening. Live band playing was nice. Food came out quick and correct hot and large quantities. Feels like more of a bar/club setting but clean.

Waiter was not friendly. Had to ask several times to refill drinks. My husband could not eat his food because it was spoiled. They even told him it was supposed to taste them we. We paid in cash and left a cash tip even left the change back for tip. The waiter told my daughter that because we did not leave a tip he would have to pay for our food. We want be back. Everyone that got something from there were sick that night. So no it’s not supposed to taste that way.

We thought we found a tradition restaurant having really great food and experience for a couple of years in a row, however recently found new owners changed menu for the worse. Food is now mediocre and smaller portions that didnt come with as many sides. I also used to like the wood stained and slightly dark atmosphere that it was before, they painted everything bright white. On the search for a new vacation restaurant I suppose.
