During my vacation in Orlando I had such a great time at Hank’s. After a few days it was feeling like home. Dale is the best bartender in town! I love Hanks!
Look, we all know what this place is for, so it serves its purpose. The bartender is great. The scene is raunchy so if you dont like that then dont go.
I was confused when I entered. The parking lot was full or cars. Some coming, some going. Inside is two pool tables & the main bar-nobody by the bartender in sight! It was empty!
Fantastic, dark, little place that lives up to all of the best reviews. I was passing through and made to feel *very* welcome. Dale, the bartender, is a lovely guy. Cash-only, but theres an ATM on site. Thursday pool tournament was fun to watch. The patio... well, that was the most fun Ive had since Ive been here. Cheers!
Tim has got to be the rudest person to ever work in a public facing job. I overheard him teasing a recovering alcoholic about not wanting to drink. He said, well then why would you even come to a bar? Maybe people just want to be social. Its no wonder this is one of the least busy places in Orlando to gather, when they allow someone like Tim to work there.
I didnt realize this place was a hook up place. 😬 I just searched up gay bar in Google and came here because it was close by.I went here with my bf for a quick drink and game of pool, and there were tons of people going back and forth between the entrance and back patio. Im guessing the action is over that way. There was also no hard liquor, just canned booze.Giving it 3 stars because the bartender gave me an ice cold drink from the back of the fridge.
Little hole in the wall bar but still very cool. Place is a bit cruisy but thats what Hanks is known for. Overall everyone was nice and respectful. The place is what it is and its really what you make of it, if you want to cruise then do so, if not then play darts, billiards or hang at the bar and talk to Dale the bartender, he was awesome and made me feel comfortable (especially since Im now socially awkward these days) hes very personable and easy to talk to. Definitely will be going back and exploring more 😈
Nice bar, super nice bartender, cozy, fragrant garden, with many secluded places
Tiny beer and wine bar best known for its patio. I believe its a two drink minimum ( beer, wine, soda, water) to use the facilities. Never had a bad time.
New to the Florida area and googled this place. It was so dark that I didn’t feel safe you could not see the other side of the bar. Let’s just say I went home early that night.
Bartender real rude. Told me I must buy a beer at every hour or get out. I but drinks, and played 3 games of pool. I asked him did u not just see me play pool, and buying drinks. He said he dont care none of that and barked at me like a dog. I told my friend and got out. We have been PLAYING pool, and drinking together.
Hank’s is a small gay men’s beer bar with friendly staff and cheap prices. They have done a great job with the recent upgrades and landscaping. Two pool tables and a tournament on Thursday nights. You should def stop in!
I love Hanks it’sself and I always have, but it could be totally be elevated. It is absolutely unsanitary. The bathroom smells like hell. The owner pays her one employee minimum and is swiping money off of the LGBT community, doing nothing to give back. Having a DJ or something like bingo means that you actually care about the gay community and that you’re employing other people other than yourself. This bar can be so much more than what it is without changing its character. I am so angry at the owner for leaving it how it is.
Im from Tampa, and I started going to Hanks back in 2007. It hasnt changed much since then which is how I like it. I try to get up there once every couple of months. My next visit will be 3/30/19. Good place, fun people and reasonable prices for beer. Well worth the 90 mile drive.
Hanks is my husband and I “Cheers”....we all need that place where we can just be ourselves & everyone knows your name lol normally we go to Hanks once or twice a week (Tue or Fri) and always have a great time. Great place to grab a beer and just be your best Gay Male Self...if you know what I mean 😉🤫
Hanks was a fun, cozy, dark, one of a kind gay bar. Will be back at end of March 2020. Met a few guys out back on big patio. Drink prices were really reasonable. Bartenders were nice, friendly and handsome.
Hanks is a bit old school, but so what...I am old. Hahahahaha! But what has worked for older lgbtq+ folks this well for this many years will work for anyone in the years to come, believe me. Ive chosen to move out of state to get treated better than what stupid Florida bureaucracies proffered as I reached retirement, but for two hundred or more miles around this new place o mine I have NOT found any establishment as affordable, friendly, intelligently sane, or thrillingly adventurous as Hanks. I really miss it. I made Hanks work sometimes for me as a comfy second home.
This place is awesome. Go during happy hour from noon to 8 p.m. daily and save on the already inexpensive beer. Go see Stan and tell him I sent you - he is a kind soul and makes everyone feel welcome.
This place ROCKS!!! Went here in March 2015. Bartender is very friendly, forgot his name. What I appreciate about this bar is no one is cliquish like most bars who need people to have status in order to make conversation with them. I love going in and walking around the garden and looking at the men and cruising round. I used to live in Orlando from 2002-2005... I did not know that this place even existed. All I knew was parliament house and that was it. Makes me want to move back to Orlando. Now thats my kinda bar!
End of the road. Came upon this place via Google Maps and thought I would stop in. My first clue it was going to be a bad experience is when I pulled in the parking lot and a very drunk man was trying to climb into his car and decided to come over and ask me questions for 15 minutes about my car...I could barely get away.I walk into this stank hole of a place that is so dark you cannot see the other side of the bar. I let me eyes adjust for a few seconds and make out a door to what appears to be a fenced in patio from the outside. Once out there, I immediately encounter 8 men sitting a picnic table getting higher than a kite.Walking past them, the patio is a maze fence with tall plants. As I get to the end, it dawns on me that is not an area for drinking (if you get my drift) but before I can react the bartender from inside comes charging at me to inform me that there is a one drink minimum. I accompany the bartender back inside and order a beer. He asks which one, I say shock top and he says, oh, one of those flavored beers. He asks for $3.50, I give him a $5 and thank him for his day. I dare not touch the bottle or the change laying on the bar.As I turn to escape, some guys at the bar ask me how big something is. I smile and wish them a nice day as well.I feel for any roaches that were not able to escape.
This place is good but a week ago some of their workers treated me very badly. Tim is jn bitter about using my cell phone. What is the problem? How can they have a person like this serving the public in cold season gives all the volume to the air so that people are not in the bar they must take action on the matter
I have been to every guy bar in Orlando. Hanks is always the funniest. Everyone is respectful. Drama Free.. Fun Times.
An awesome place to hang out and make some new friends. We go a couple of times a week and love it. Dale the bartender is a great guy and so is Brent.
Bartender not friendly and it really sucked o ly wine and beer available. Extremely boring place.
Congratulations, they are finally improving it... it was already in decline... step by step you can see the change for the better...there should always be music on the site, usually they almost never put the music
This place reminds of The Boars Nest from the TV series Dukes of Hazzard. I loved that show and Bo and Luke duke. I had fun here cheap drinks and a nice big patio .inside needs a little help but has potential
Out of the way but it was worth a visit. Great entertainment and service on a Saturday night (11pm). Would recommend and will definitely return.
I’ve been going to Hank’s Bar for years. Sure sometimes it’s sleazy. Sometimes it’s just entertaining, but there’s never a dull moment there. Make sure u bark back at the bartender Dale!
I went to Hanks for the first time ever 2 weeks ago at first it looked like I would not enjoy it, I did not like paying $3.75 for a small michelob Ultra draft which was gone in 3 sips, then I went outside, the people was all friendly & thats when I ejoyed myself, yes the place is run down but it was a great experience from being in all the other gay clubs , looking foward to going again when I am back in town.
Wonderfully fun with a seedy edge. This is not the bar for your straight girlfriends or prissy gays. Plenty of action.
I love this place and will keep going every chance I can get. What a great place to a have great time. I love the patio you get to meet good people there.
Fun locals bar. Great bartender the nite I was there. Great dive bar vibe.
Been many times and always enjoyed myself. love the patio and cant wait to go again when I’m in town.
