This place was packed on a Wednesday night. Diverse crowd and fun atmosphere - if you like arcade games and loud music. Drink prices were decent, and the service was good. Security was pretty tight. Im guessing it can get rowdy. When I was there, the crowd was great. There were people from college to people who came after a convention.
Going strictly by the star ratings...I liked it. Bartender was friendly, beer was cold. Good selection. Nice specials.Loses a star for arcade portion being a bit rough around the edges. Marvel vs Capcom 2 was busted. Calibration of area 51/max force was way, way off on the one gun. Killer Instinct was way overtuned. DDR pad was decent but song selection was weak. Will likely come back as I still have a bunch of tokens.
Pulled up past 1:30 am with a group of 5 black friends including me and we were denied entrance as it was to late and we watched security immediately permit entrance to 3 others who were not of the same ethnicity after the fact. Our friends even had a table but we we’re still treated poorly. Spend your money else where
I really enjoyed my visit. I stopped by on a Monday evening.I saw people of all ages enjoying the pinball and arcade games. They definitely have some classic games like pac man, tron, galaga, street fighter, Tetris etcI noticed some cool new school art on the walls. The bar tender made some great drinks.I would definitely re visit.
This place is a lot of fun and the bar tender that was there this past Sunday afternoon was in such good spirits but he was the ONLY bar tender there so he was quite overwhelmed. It just took too much time to get a drink which took away from time spent with our friends and playing the games. Id have given them at least 4 stars if they were better staffed.
This place was SO COOL! had tons of games from childhood that were so nostalgic! Only a few ate my tokens lol. $5 gets you a good amount of tokens here. I played for about 1.5 hours on the $5 and tried every game I wanted to. It does get very crowded so it’s nice to show up right when they open to ensure you get a chance play the games you want to. Also got a Modelo for $5. They played good music and have a nice misted outdoor patio area. There was also a food truck right outside too! Super cool concept & place. Can’t wait to come back!
Gets crowded around 9 on the weekends. Great club to dance, hang out, meet new people, and play arcade games. You guys should expand. Better than ziggys
This place was nice. Had a good time with some coworkers. Wednesday night is ladies night so you get a good handful of coins when you order your drink. The games there are pretty standard arcade fair and fun. Except for the mortal combat game. Overly difficult and the buttons were not responsive. Beers at happy are very cheap but they dont serve food so eat before hand.
Really fun if youre under 25. The music was good and the theme is cute, but it was more for a young young crowd. We went on a Saturday and it was really full. Like everyone pushing everyone. The bathroom had vomit and pee all over the place. A little more on the hood side.. maybe on a different night the experience is better.
This place is loads of fun but dont go on the weekend if you dont like the crowd and dont want to get bumped into every second.
This place is a blast, pure and simple. DJ has great taste in hip hop😉 Atmosphere is awesome, they really nail both being a great arcade and a cool quasi-clubby bar at the same time. Love the art on the walls. Even the bouncers are nice! Always poppin, probably since its kinda slim pickins in the downtown area, but this place would do well anywhere. Easy five stars.
Definitely do not recommend this place. The bouncers are nice and the male bartenders are great but the female bartenders are rude and condescending. It’s a cute bar and has so much potential but it’s so sad how rude people can be even when a small amount of interactions. Even the person around us agreed it was unnecessary how they acted.
Treated horribly - 5.8.24Late night, my friend and I were asked to leave by a male bartender after asking a female bartender if she was okay because she way crying behind the bar. When we tried to explain to the male bartended that we have nothing to do with her situation the bartender would not hear it. We were kicked out. The old saying no good deed goes unpunished. I would not recommend this place because the staff failed to handle the situation appropriately.
Fun times spent on Friday evening here. The concept is simple, drinks with vintage old school arcade games. There’s an atm to withdraw cash and obtain tokens. There’s no food here and sometimes the bartenders are understaffed, leading to slower service. Overall, a satisfying evening filled with arcade games and White Claw!
Meh. Pinball machines obviously havent been balanced since they were installed. They will sell you a drink and scream in your face for having one while they run your card. Also I guess they wash the dishes in the parking lot? See photo. I suggested coming here and feel like a bad friend. The DJ was good, but I like music from 2012 before the end of the Mayan calendar. Seriously cant believe the reviews, maybe they just havent been anywhere else. 🤷♂️
The place was very packed couldnt play any games. The bar was also very busy took almost an hour to get a drink, everyone just wanted to dance and not play games kinda disappointed
Security is absolutely ridiculous at this place. Had to get 4 people just to look a my ID because I grew my hair out, then gave me a lecture about getting it changed. Then they threw my sober friend out because she was dancing (not even wildly) and they thought she was “over-served”. The place used to be fun, but I will never be going back. The people who run it are idiots.
Drinks are great, maybe a little on the pricey side but I dont frequent enough variety of bars to know for sure. Arcade games are decent, kept in good condition. They run off a token system, you can get them from the bar or a token vending machine. Decent prices, and one token is equal to a quarter, currently.Employees are ALL amazing, from security to bartenders, everybody seems to love their jobs and theyre all incredibly personable.Theres food trucks that frequently set up shop in front, some are frequent fliers, others come and go. Theres also sometimes some cool transportation, like lighted bar bicycles and taxi carts? I cant even begin to describe them, youve just got to see for yourself! Photo attached :]I only wish that they had a kitchen for consistent food (and if they did, I know their menu would be awesome, if their drink menu is any thing to go by!) And I wish they had a little more variety in arcade games - but they make pretty good use of the space with what they have!Oh and theres also DJs sometimes but thats not so much my scene, it usually gets pretty loud lol
The security and management are nasty and rude they don’t speak, smile or say hello. Additionally, they do not have the aptitude to distinguish a fraudulent ID from a real one and are extremely unapologetic. A party of at LEAST fifteen could have been inside buying up the bar but instead we were waiting an hour for the police to force these people to give back a legitimate identification card. Poor business ethic and the bathrooms are FILTHY. 🤍
Visited here today with my wife. They had about 6 beers on tap, a decent selection, but not great. They had a good selection of arcade games to play from, most cost a token to play. Luckily there is both a token machine, and an atm machine at the location. Its worth noting there is no food served here, but there is servel close places to grab a meal such as Angels Trumpet close by.
Happened to be here for women’s night and happy hour, so I got to enjoy 2 beers for about 6$ and free arcade games for the night! The bar is dark and cool. Whilst sit offers rest-bite from the pounding sun the music is an intense mix of indie and hard rock. There are numerous machine of all sorts of arcade games (personally I’m a fan of the dance mat). Should you wish to top up the tan, the smoking section outside get a huge amount of sun!
Buyer beware... This place is great... IF YOU GET IN. IT RUINED OUR DATE NIGHT. We stopped by to get a drink. Check their FAQ page, everywhere it says free parking. This fills quick, and as locals we have been many times and know not to expect it. But we went at 7pm, a very slow time. They had AMPLE parking. Close to 6 spots at least. They and some horrible vendor truck blocking the main entrance. I tried to go around and park through the other way, and their *security* team, lol, came at us like we were rolling up with guns. We stated we were just trying to park in one of the open spots /at least 3 near our car/ and they flipped and said no. Well my wife with anxiety or whatever she has flipped and was like nope we clearly cant park here. Im like no we have multiple times and online it states its free. But because they let duche vendor and horrible *security* run the place we left. I will not be back. There is an arcade bar in tolleson we will enjoy instead. Thanks for ruining our date night cobra, suck on that juice you garbage establishment.
I love going here to game with friends but maybe leave your nice shoes at home lol the drinks are fire but the lines are long definitely recommended place to check out at some point
Nice concept but I had to realize the bar scene isnt for me. A bunch of thirsty dudes all trying to pick up drunk chicks who are annoyingly conceited.
Arrived with a friend at roughly 4pm on a Sunday (Halloween Eve), the bouncer at the front was grilling the IDs pretty hard, they have some okay outdoor seating, as soon as you walk in youre at a wrap-around bar with a DJ/dance area with games around it, some high bar seating booth/tables on the opposite side, a token machine, and some old arcade games in the back. They only had three pinball machines and The Mandalorian was the best out of the bunch, the arcade games were relic status/old bowling alley status, maybe to some thats what theyre looking for. Im looking for a mixture of new and old, these machines dont even look like theyre kept in that great of shape which is sad and some of them the tokens dont work correctly all the time.I am not a fan of the $10 Sub Zero cocktail. It had these coconut shavings on the rim that didnt taste that great which also melted on your hand (which made a huge mess), served in a plastic cup, it tasted like watered down Gatorade. I would not recommend it.
Music was mid, but what sold me was SEPHORA, best security! Made me feel safe and was a great spirit all around, will definitely be back! She needs a raise!
This is a great place to get tipsy and have fun. It’s an Arcade and Bar! What more do you need? They also have certain days when girl and guys get free tokens. And let me not forget to mention their new area on the opposite side of the building. (Where Snoh used to be). Not as many games, but it’s less crowded and has an Anime theme.
Accidently stumbled upon this gem. Bar full of arcade games, so much nostalgia when I played rampage and Donkey Kong. DJ on site and anime on the televisions. It became packed after 10pm which is good but with such a small space did make it hard to move and play games. Overall though, had a fantastic time. Favorite drink of the night was the Kirby. Had a rich orange flavor.
I stopped here while walking through First Friday and it made the perfect pit stop. The taps were ok, the cocktails seemed fine, but what got me going was the phenomenal music choice. A mix of old rocksteady reggae remixes and classic jams was the perfect audio compliment for a bumping arcade bar on a Friday night. I didn’t play any games, but it seemed like there was a good selection. Most importantly, though, the dance floor was alive and it was an easy place to have a good time.
Cobra strikes at the nightlife just like a snake. Mixing the vibe of hype music & arcade games gives you a new infused experience. The drink specials keeps your pockets happy & keeps you in good spirits. I highly recommend getting there early though cause the line is out the door and packed within. Might be a burden to some but overall nice place in Downtown Phoenix check it out
Before the house music and the whole “Club” vibe, Cobra was an awesome spot to hangout, drink a few, and play some games. Now, it feels more like a it should be in Old Town Scottsdale. In all fairness however, this is one of my favorite bars in DTPHX. Friendly and swift bartenders, great games, and unique events.
This was my first time here and definitely one of the most fun Ive had for a Wednesday night, probably ever. We have decided this is our new designated spot for ladies night on wednesdays here on out. Fun environment, great music, and amazing people! My new favorite hangout. Thanks for a fabulous evening, Cobra Arcade! ♡
Wonderful place to jam to good music, soak in nostalgia, and a guaranteed win of a good time. whether youre alone or in a group
Bismol experience at this Cobra Arcade bar compared to others. This one is significantly lacking on the quality arcade games, small space and many of the machines will eat your coins. I am a huge fan of Cobra Arcade, this one did not live up to my experience Ive had compared to several other locations. Wasted several coins trying to play, the coin eating machines should be marked or removed from service, pinball machines were disappointing compared to the other Cobra Arcades. I will not be going out of my way to visit this location in the future.
Exactly as expected old school arcade games. Cold brews, music its all good
I got robbed by the bar last night and Cobra was not any help for me I would never recommend anybody to go over there ever again I hope it gets shut down very soon a lot of people been getting robbed and I got robbed last night for my first time thank you very much cobra no help
Bar is always over capacity, let’s underage kids in and doesn’t do pat downs . The downfall of cobra is pending , horrible business.
Cramped, and a lot of games werent working right (though I assume the alcohol might have something to do with that). Met some cool cats hanging out at the fighting games. Beer prices comparable to anywhere else, but arcade games. Didnt get crazy till after about 9pm on Saturday. Before that was pretty chill.
This place seemed like a cool experience especially considering how many people were lined up outside. Once you got through the long line you had to fight your way just to get a drink much less play any games. If you are there to dance on a Saturday night this is a good place but the capacity is a major issue. Just dont have games if they are going to be in the way when people are dancing or move them to a back area. Overall a cool place but I would recommend going on a calm night if youre there to play games.
2 stars for good drinks, but every single game we played had some mechanical issue. The pinball flippers got stuck constantly and every cabinet we tried had at least one faulty joystick. And this was only a couple hours after they opened on Friday.
This place definitely earns the title of one of the top 10 nightlife hotspots in Phoenix, especially on the weekends. If you enjoy good music, awesome arcade games and a drink or two, this is the place to be! And dont let that stop you from coming during the week as well; theres just as many specials and good times to be had then too!
Cool place, decent selection of games. Although I think I would rather come game during the day.The price on the beer cans is decent enough and there are some good drinks though happy hour is the time to be.One thing though... I do find the idea of a DDR machine in the back to be questionable. A game that makes people get all sweaty and out of breath in a tightly packed room is not ideal for mingling hahaha#dudeapproachsee my sweet dance moves out there?*Girl sniff*#girlleaves
Very Chill place with a nice friendly crowd. Female bartender made my sister a specialty drink she created w/mango & Tajin....BTW that drink should be called June 15th. Im at the carwash as they scrub the dried residue of June 15th off my door jamb lol. Thanks alot...our 1st time was awesome & my sister enjoyed her birthday. 💖
I rate this place a solid four stars. It would’ve been five if it was spacious enough for the “dance” floor. Im not big on dancing but being grinded up on while trying to play on the arcade machines was not the best. Overall drinks were on point and the line to get in was minimal. Outside they have a bussin birria truck i 100% recommend.
Fun! Retro arcade games and a few pinball machines. Also beverages.
If youre native american it aint worth your time. I was on my second beer and put my hair down (I have long hair ) and was kicked out by security for being too drunk. I left politely but I was literally standing there talking to friends. Ive been going here for years and I was never treated like this when I had short hair.
Super cool vibe & atmosphere! All the games and fantastic service!
Cheap arcade games $0.25/game, cheap drinks that arent watered down but hard to get service as there are always few bartenders. If you dont get in before 10pm on the weekends then youll probably be waiting in line forever. No cover charge, on weekends theres usually a DJ and theres a small dance with plenty of cute girls.
I think the place is great. You cant really sit anywhere inside tho. The drinks are freaking awesome and the games are fun. They have retro games which was pretty cool. They always have good music playing. It does get a little crowded though. However a downside if you even happen to look slightly tipsy, stumble or anything of the sort you will have your drinks taken and cut off and get kicked out. I got kicked out after my second drink which wasn’t very big I might add and I wasn’t even drunk. I had ordered a third and they didn’t even let me finish it regardless after I paid for it. We tried to navigate through the crowd and it’s hard to not stumble through them since it’s a small place. It was upsetting so my husband and friends all left instead of dealing with the drama.
Been here twice. When ever I am on the Phoenix area definitely a fun time to grab some drinks and just hang out and play games. Saturday nights the lines are super long to wait to get into but other than that this place is a cool spot to go kick it with your friends. I took a star off due to the long lines but they cannot help it it’s definitely a must chill spot and play old school games.
Closed for a private party. 😖 Drove a long ways to be denied entrance.
Fun times. Doorman was cool even with the long line on Superbowl weekend. Tipped the bartenders 100 percent because they were awesome and attentive plus I was drunk. Good times! This is Lenny from Mills Modern Social in Tempe. See you again soon!
So much fun. The have a Dj
The place is cool. A bunch of different types of arcade games including pinball and DDR. The machines could be better kept. Most of the handles felt sticky. The music was loud and the drinks tasted a bit on the weak side but I wasnt there for that. I just played a bunch of the games. Lots of fun!
A 1:1 replica of the seventh layer of hell. This place is a scorn on Downtown Phoenix. If you have $18 for a subpar cocktail and are seeking tinnitus come right on in though! They’re also using an abuse victim as a meme to promote their bar on social media. If I had a brick with googly eyes it would have more class than whoever is running their account!
Dig this place. They used to offer free game play during happy hour, but the games are still only 25 cents, so its not a wallet buster or anything. The drinks are original and tasty. The staff is very pleasant and the location is great. The parking lot is small, but there are still a good amount of spots for the area. We like to bring our friends here who arent familiar with the area and its always a fun time. Love the concept.
Cool place to hang out. To be honest though the music wasnt as great. It might have just been a dead Thursday night but it seemed a bit dull. The arcade games are a fun retro thing to do though. The drinks were definitely lacking though. All in all nice place to check out but not sure Ill be back
Not bad but its trying to be more of a club so the loud music and couples lip locked grinding between machines werent what we wanted from a barcade... Might be different before the DJ starts.
This is my go to bar! I enjoy the arcade, the food trucks was an unexpected yet excellent touch! If you dont like dancing or video games, they have TVs that play movies incase youre not in a dancing mood. Also, they rotate arcade games so things still feel fresh and interesting.
I love the spot. I have yet to find another place like it in the downtown Phoenix area. The crowd can be a little young at times due to the ASU students but its definitely a mixed crowd With both awesome classic & new Arcade games, decent food and great music
This place was OK if you go before it turns into a nightclub basically. Im a bit older now, so the loud thumping music and line to get in, was really just a distraction from the arcade games. Most of the games are older, and you do need some quarters to play them. However, there is no charge to get in during the earlier hours and the drinks were reasonable.
Great games to play, though a mixed crowd. Drinks are awesome and bar is well staffed, and security staff assists in arcade coin jams. Loud with a DJ on a Thursday night, but playing some good tracks and keeping it interesting. Overwhelmed with the crowds of casual hangout people, with a minor focus on the games - but great collection of great classics in well functioning condition! Great 4 player selections!
Came here for a work gathering on a Friday night. Very cool concept (old school arcade games), BUT. Most of the games dont work. Such a letdown. The bar staff completely dropped the ball. They were very unattentive looking at the floor instead of scanning the bar for who needed drinks. Male bartender was maybe 2 feet from me and Im trying to get his attention and he never acknowledged me. Not once. There was about 40 of us in there and everyone makes over $500k, like to drink and have fun. I think my boss started the tab with a limit of $1,000. That was just her tab. 39 other people there. Had a good time with coworkers outside of work but it could have been so much better if games worked and had a bar staff that new how to work the bar would get me to come back. Otherwise this is a 1 and done stop for me.
This is a fun place! Nice staff and it wasn’t too crowded. Patio is nice and there’s a decent selection of games. I went on a Tuesday and got a huge handful of tokens w/ my drink purchase. Also, the drinks aren’t overpriced and the games were 1 token each. It’s definitely more oriented to adults. I’d recommend it if you had some time to kill (like I did before my flight outta town) or if you’re into arcades.
Seems very boring & outdated, it’s this little spot that has a little bit of games on one side and a little dance floor on the other , they were playing house trap music. & The food was outside 🤦🏽♀️… Bathrooms definitely need some help. Before leaving we tried to get a shot, but the line was too long..
Pretty overated in all honesty. The two times I have been there both times take 30-45 minutes to get inside. Then you have to luckily get to the bar. The bar is the biggest thing in the place. No area to sit down besides 4 small tables partially outside. No where to really stand and definitely not enough arcade games. Not even a little dance floor. So definitely worth it nor the spot to ever be.
LOVE THIS PLACE! took my husband here for his birthday and he didnt want to leave. with tokens being only $0.25 and most games being 1 token, you really get a lot for your money. their drinks, staff, and whole atmosphere is incredible. we will be back, and be recommending to ask our friends!
This was a cool place to play some old arcade games. A couple of the machines stole my tokens, but I just chalk that up to the retro arcade experience. Still got to play plenty of awesome games.
Hands down the best hip hop dance venue in town! Its very easy going for dancing newcomers to get along too! Inviting crowd and great music!! Its my fave. If you like Fat Tuesdays or Whiskey Rose, you will love Cobra.
My first time here was a good experience. I was met by security who checked my id and showed me where I could sit. They have a outside area, bar, and games inside. There seats at bar and tables inside. The other is a small lounge with bar and video games. The music is playing loud and gives you the feeling of being in the club. Its a great place to meet with friends, free admission, they have pizza, drinks, and games are one token. They are really nice there and you will enjoy your time.
Great hang place. Staff was friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced ($6 jack+coke). $20 in tokens lasted SO and I about 2 hours and we had to really start feeding machines by the end of it.
So I really enjoy the idea of barcades. Have some drinks play some games, all in all should be a good time. This was not one of those time in my opinion. The music was really loud as we entered. Not saying music is bad, but its hard to talk and laugh with your friends or date if you cant hear them from less than 5 ft.When we played the games they do have some good classics, but the selection is still limited. Not to mention 3 of the games didnt work properly, which was a real bummer.Add to that the price of drinks and the night was a bust. I know this is a bar, and that some of the main revenue is alcohol, but when the rest of the night was bad, it just left a sour taste in my mouth with the whole experience.Ive seen it done better, but still had some fun. Try to find another near you if you can, if not still can be a fun time. Just be sure to see whats working before you play it, and take breaks outside to get away from the noise.
No longer offers free token days. Pinball no longer set up to show for 2 player play. Staff is good if theyre around or you somehow manage to get their attention. Weird draft menu but found one decent thing on it. Ended up leaving to go to stardust instead.
Majority of the games cost $0.25 per play, and all were working the night we stopped by. Games are older, which is fun for nostalgia, but don’t expect any modern graphics. There is a small shared parking lot, but plenty of metered parking in the area
Fun atmosphere. Great music. Great game selection. Has my favorite game Tapper which is most of the reason why we come here so often. Games are only a quarter (1 token). Parking is a little scarce. But overall, this place is awesome!
I love this place. Great arcade games, most of them usually work too, great atmosphere - Everyone gets along with each other. It is very chilled out. Drinks arent too pricey, but they arent cheap. Personally this is my favourite bar in the world - And being British I have been to a few! If you are a gamer or just want someone to chill out this is the place to be.Friday and Saturday nights it turns almost into a normal club with very loud music and is packed!Top tips: foreigners - take your passport, they wouldnt accept my UK driving licence.Tuesday night is free token night - you get tokens with ever drink you order.
Fun bar, awesome pinball machines and video games
I like this place,I would definitely come back.
My friend and I went only for the arcade. I was very surprised that the games were in excellent condition and not just old run-downs. They have 3 of the latest pinball machines in top working order. Mixed in are older favorites like Centipede and Ms. Pacman. Very fun place. Ill be back.
The drinks were great, and you get a lot of tokens/plays for your money. One of the machines ate my tokens, so I was given back what I lost plus some extra as an apology. Great service, nice atmosphere, pleasant indoor and outdoor bar areas. The music is loud inside.
Had an employee party at Cobra and it turned out to be one of the teams favorite outing yet! Thank you Benjamin at the bar for keeping my people hydrated and the tokens flowing. Great bang for your buck at Cobra!
Just get the mystery shot. Its incredible. The atmosphere is fun as hell and the games are 25c each- not bad but not as cheap as 16-Bit in Indy ;) get there early for a slow drip of people and get all the games to yourself. Or get there later in the evening, and get on the packed dance floor!
Visited during their Halloween party and they didnt charge a cover. Bouncers were nice! I get that they need to have a presence, but these guys actually smiled and gave a great first impression. We honestly were just going to bar hop, but instead just stayed here to drink and have a good time. First impressions I guess. All the machines worked well.
Cool spot but they need to update the abv on Tower Station it’s 7.3 not 6
Was a fun place. I feel old but definitely was a fun place to hang out for a bit.
Cobra was great! You have to get there early if you dont want to wait in line but its definitely worth it! Drinks, music and arcade games what can be better than that!? Staff are great and they even have 2 food trucks right out front. Great for after the bar food while waiting for your ride. Do not drink and drive! Save a life call a lyft/uber!
Just another hipster bar. They thought they would be different by adding a few arcades. I think it barely qualifies for an Arcade Bar. The drinks that we had were okay. Dont think I would want to visit this place again.
Honestly I dont know why anyone comes here. Line is extremely long. They offer a black VIP cards but its only offered to certain people aka pretty girls the bouncers wanna hook up with. By the time you get in its overcrowded. Surprising its not a fire hazard or breaking a fire code. We decided to go to the opposite bar that they open. It was less crowded but of course we get a rude bartender that brings me the wrong beers and still argues with me.
Bar and Arcade of downtown. Lots of videogame themed drinks and decor. Nice outdoor area and building. Fairly pact so usually has a line to get in. Standing room only on busy nights.
The drinks were very good. I was surprised by how refreshing the freshco was. Games are cool, too. just need a better variety. This is a good pre-game spot.
Very lively bar with lots of classic arcade games to enjoy while you drink! Its always very crowded on weekends and within a few hours theres a line outside to enter. Its too small to fit everyone and the line gets very long, so get there early if you can.
We had a lot of fun here. The mixed drinks are sweet and low on alcohol it seems. The games are fun but a lot were broken Or damaged in some way. Overall, we had fun and that’s what matters.
Any place i need to be patted down for weapons before entering is not a place i want i hang out.
I love taking my wife out for dates here. Great music, friendly bar service, reasonable prices at happy hour and we almost never pay for tokens. Wonderful selection of classic arcade games in good condition. Combine with Moira across the street for food and it is the perfect date night.
This place is great! Its a lot of fun and the drinks are well made, you can tell theres a decent amount of alcohol in them. They have a wide variety of arcade games. The only downside is some people stay on the same game for extended periods of time not giving a chance to others who might want to play. I waited 20 min for Super Mario (made it very clear that I was waiting) but the couple just ignored me. Maybe a sign to remind the less courteous folks to share would be nice.
Fantastic drinks and reasonably price for the area. The arcade games available cater to nearly all generations and thr tournaments on Sundays are fun to watch or participate in.Tuesdays they give out tokens for drinks you purchase which is a nice bonus. There is also a food truck or cart outside in case you get hungry. Ive personally never had a bad time here.
The place is unique and a fun experience. However, on weekends the lines are super long to get in and it can often be difficult to grab a drink. Frankly, the place is too small to accomodate the number of clients they get on the weekend. The novelty of classic arcade games is cool the first couple times you go but to each their own. DJ is usually spinning some good tunes. I will say that on a couple of visits the bouncers were the epitome of how you would think bouncers would act...kinda rude and not very friendly. While they are not hired to socialize, they are definitely not there to be rude to customers. This was my observation simply standing in line watching them interact with some of the patrons. Maybe in between them doing some bench presses they can do some light reading on how to interact with humans respectfully.
I gave this place 5 stars it was my first time there and it was so fun the atmosphere is great music was good although it would be nice if they mixed the music with a little 80s not just rap lol, but i would definitely go back though. I had an issue at the end of the night security was extremely rude to me and my friends telling us to get off their property that we were annoying but we were clearly minding our own business laughing waiting for our tacos to be done from the food truck right outside the bar. He just kept telling us to leave it was so embarrassing, buy this was a good bar overall must go on Saturday
Fun place for an interactive date night. Great drinks cool vibe and awesomely friendly staff even the bouncers are down to earth. Wednesday is Ladies night which means free tokens and Fridays seem to be the busiest. It’s a small venue and can get crowded but people there are chill so no drama. There’s about 24 or more old school games like Pinball and Donkey Kong but often a few games are broken. Music is good often old school hip hop (at least the times I’ve been there). Limited seating options so be prepared to stand and mingle. It’s a perfect place for a low key inexpensive date, meet up or having drinks with friends.
Best bar in downtown for sure.. great drinks made by a couple twins working a very busy bar.. security was on it also, got to enjoy them break up a girl fight.TAcos our front were deliciousAll in all a great night out
Super fun bar with a ton of throwback arcade games. Their specialty drinks were a little on the sweet side but still fantastic. The bartenders are on their game and incredibly friendly! This bar is great if youre looking for something to keep you busy while you drink!
I love this place but unfortunately for gamers this is the busiest place in all of roosevelt row and draws some really shady crowds. You shouldn’t need to be pat down to go to an arcade bar 😬😬. Not cool
I dont know what to think about this place, of course there is a thousand reviews and I am sure 10 people not visiting here again will not matter. However be mindful of the guy thats slightly bald with a Mohawk (technically the bouncer) I believe. I didnt have any issues with him (until he cut us off,) but he had a thing for my buddy and got on his butt every chance he got. Then he had us cut off, which even the bartender didnt agree with nor did she honor. That was nice of her because trust me if I needed cut off I deserve it but not this time. Our whole group was cut off. This guy got on him about where he was standing waiting for drinks, about drinks on the arcade, etc. I get that there are rules and we followed them but that was a bit ridiculous. Especially when a lot more people were breaking those rules and were never talked to. Which they should have been. You dont think when you drink but these arcade games need to be preserved so again I get it. However there is a fine line between that and harassment. Also towards the end roughly 2am (we arrived at 9pm,) we were kicked out because a girl that works there talked to the other bouncer and there idea was hey youre not in trouble and it is 2am but leave. Also you can come back lol really?! That same buddy was talking to a couple girls, not even close to them(long table,) which in a few minutes more girls showed up. It seemed like they were having a conversation until one girl said something that had just showed up. My buddy either said something rude like shut up, or something simple like who are you. It was completely mundane that I dont remember. Then they all started screaming and yelling, buddy was laughing, thought it was a joke. I was recording because they got a bit crazy (which they didnt like.) But that is why we had to leave. No fights, we werent out of control or yelling. We had no clue what was going on until the bouncer asked us to leave. I am still not sure what happened, and no not because I was drunk. I really wanted to like this place, but that was pathetic. Again just be mindful because this place is clique. It was just one thing after another all night unprovoked.Edit: Just remembered creepy bouncer followed friend into bathroom stall as well, no he didnt go to the bathroom. I remember buddy complaining about that and just asked him if that was true.
It was OK. Only 3 pinball machines in the entire place. And they were a buck each game. They did have some decent classic video games like centipede and Galaga. Draft beer selection was meh. I also dont like that they scan your ID when you walk in. NOT COOL!
Drinks and arcade games from my youth. A great combination!!! This is definitely a place I would recommend. It is very close to the very cool, hustling and bustling Roosevelt between Central and 7TH. They have DJs and special events that are always a good time!!!
Excellent place to go have a cocktail or beer with friends.
Nice little bar with arcade games available to play. Check-in through Yelp gets you some free tokens. Depending on when you go, lines can be a bit long. Drink prices arent bad, the specialty drinks are pretty good. Reservations are also available for events.
Has two sides with 2 separate lines. The left(main) side is bigger with more arcade games and a bigger dance floor, and the line gets LONG after 9:30pm.The right side has a much shorter line, tables, great art on the walls(the bathrooms 👌🏿), anime playing on the tvs, and is a more intimate vibe but still very fun. Drinks are also reasonable with 9$ for an amf at the time of this post.
My honey and I popped into this place on a Tuesday night (Token Tuesday) and ended up having a great time ... The drinks were good (princess peach was my favorite) and the bartenders were friendly and attentive. The crowd seemed nice and the music was okay... well definitely be going back 😃
So much fun. All the old games and even when it was super busy, it wasnt that crowded on the inside. Most games are 1 token ($0.25) and if you havent been before, check in on Yelp to get some free tokens on your first visit. The beer is also good.
40 years old and married with kids. My friends and I love going her to play all the games we grew up with. We typically arrive early (around 8) so almost no wait for games for the majority of the night.Bring about 5 bucks for tokens but there was not a cover so that is ok. The music is great and there is always a retro movie on the big screens behind the bar. I highly recommend this place for a little guys night out and for the younger crowd, seems to really get going around 11pm.I think very highly of this bar.
All the classic arcade games plus a few gems that you might not see too often. The drinks were fine but nothing too special and nothing tailored towards the theme of the bar either really. The space was crowded but manageable so that was no big deal. Not a bad spot to start or finish your night.
Youll never miss a line on a weekend but its 100% worth the wait! Amazing drinks and bartenders, awesome DJ and a vibe like no other in downtown. They set themselves apart from the other local bars with the artwork and the nastalgia oozing from everyone wall to arcade cabinets. Try the Blue Waffle shot or drink, I promise you wont be disappointed!
This place is really awesome to go before 9pm, after that its usually extremely packed and more turns more to the club style place unless you like that it might be just for you. Ive been coming here for years and love it. Never had any drama with guests, the bartenders are friendly and if they notice you buying drinks and playing games they might slip you a couple coins.
Super fun vibe and great games for very reasonable prices. Pretty good drinks with normal or cheaper prices. Great service from friendly staff. The DJ was one of the best I’ve heard at a bar. The one downside is the crowd it attracts can get a little sketchy late at night.
Had a great time playing games here. For a Monday night, it was quite busy and everyone there was really cool.Itd be nice if they served food ... they had a menu for a place across the street but we wanted to eat at the bar. The bouncer was cool enough to give us information on nearby places to walk and eat. We ended up eating at Pizza Hut.
I visited Cobra Arcade Bar for the first time and I enjoyed my experience overall. I went on the weekend around 6pm and it wasn’t super busy, which was nice. They did have a good vendor on site that offered different types of hot dogs. They only took cash, but there is an atm on site. The drinks were great and the pricing was fair. I liked the patio seating but some misters would have been nice considering how hot the summer is.
This is too fun and definitely one of the only places youll catch us Gen Xers chillin with the rest of the alphabet! Get there early!Great games, drinks that are just as fun and delicious food trucks parked right outside!
Great place! Wasnt too crowded so we got to enjoy it as much as we can. The staff were very accommodating. They had a decent selection of games for their customers. Great place for a generous price! Would definitely come back
What a great concept for a bar! I love the 90s theme. My husband and I were so excited to see many of the same arcade games we played when we were kids. This is a smaller bar but the staff is great. I knocked off a star because of the parking. Its limited on the amount of spaces provided as well as the size of the spaces. I have a full size car and I felt I had to squeeze in carefully.
Pros: Cobra is the turn up spot. It’s always popping no matter the day of the week. Quirky little set up with the arcade games and it makes an awesome date night for weekdays and weekends before maybe 8 or 9. I’d definitely suggest Cobra for when friends and family visit from out of town.Cons: Saturday nights are ruthless. The line on Saturday wraps around the block so if you show up after 9ish you’ll be waiting 20-30+ minutes to get in. Once you get in it’s too packed to dance, very limited space, so it’s better for socializing rather than dancing if that’s what you’re into
This place looked cool until we were sat at an awkward place in the bar. We sat for about 40 minutes. Asked for a server and one man said, “I’ll get someone over to you right away.” No one came up to us. Not one single server looked our way. Terrible management. We didn’t order. We just left. Even if they were to acknowledge us sitting there it would’ve been okay. But we kept getting walked passed. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. Missed out on a great tip 🥱
Cobra is a great bar with a great atmosphere. I went to their 3rd anniversary party tonight and it was popping off like no other. My friends and I are regular patrons here, the staff is what makes it really great, from the door man down to the bartenders. And of course, the games! Always cool to play classic arcade games, but how about getting to drink while playing? It adds a whole new dimension to the bar scene, and really adds a sort of cool dynamic that otherwise is lacking.
Cobra arcade staff are intimidating, condescending, and rude, to put it mildly. Whoever runs this place is incompetent and it is dangerous to go here in my opinion. Not sure why this place is even still in business. Check out the negative reviews before wasting your time at this garbage dump. We saw security staff acting inappropriately and told them we would report it to management and warn others about their behavior. They indicated that they did not care. It appears “management” is part of the problem with aggression toward customers. I would not be surprised if it was a gang or group of ex convicts from prison who run this place, but I’m not sure. If they decide to harass you, there is apparently no one there to help which seems like a major safety concern. They did say that they do not care about negative reviews. Based on what they said, I tend to question whether they may be faking positive reviews to cover up their obvious problems. Its not worth the risk, just go somewhere else.
Hip spot with a good variety in of cocktails and draft beers. Arcade games are pretty cool if you like the old school stuff. Location is nice for bar hopping to places nearby. It can get very busy on the weekends so go earlier or you may have to wait to get in.
Awesome place to drink and hang out! Lot of people little warm inside but good prices on beers will cool you down! Vintage arcade games are crazy fun and playing while drinking is always fun! Good music too..!!
Lines get long after 9 but decent drink prices and lots of throwback fun from the music to the arcade games to the wall art. Recommend a visit at least once.
I dont know if these guys are racist or something but we werent even able to get in and celebrate my friends Birthday with him because they wouldnt accept my united states government issued tourist ID. The bouncer even gave us a weird look when i told him i was from Mexico. I wouldve liked to have gone in there and have a good time but it was unfortunately ruined.
Fun bar with great drinks and a staff that moves quick and still manages to be friendly. However, the star of the show here are the cabinet games which take me back to my dads old job and the game he had there. Its fun to come here and relive those times with my girlfriend on the weekend.
First time here I had a very nice experience! Great customer service since you walk in until you leave. The drinks are amazing!!! Recommend the Kirby :) definitely will be coming back!!!! Only downside their ATM charges to get cash out so before going stop by the bank and get cash out!! ( For the token machine to play games)
First time visiting this place and my partner got a $5 beer. He was charged $50 on his card. They won’t answer their phone so it will be disputed with the bank. Beware of being mis-charged and watch your receipts to ensure the receipt matches the charge…
Very disappointed, a very racist and classist place, violent, the security personnel and we visited the place with a legal ID that is accepted by the police by the banks, but since I am Mexican or I look Mexican and I am proud to be Mexican, the guy at the entrance is extremely Annoyed, he demanded my Mexican passport. I am an American citizen....we had to call the manager...he apologized and let us in but the experience was already bad..they should train their people with the proper information
Love this bar more and more every time I come. They partnered up with the best taco food truck in the world. Its worth every expensive penny that it cost. Nothing like original arcade games, friends, and drinks. Fun place! Highly recommend the fun public
I enjoyed hanging out at Cobra until today: whoever was bartending with a mask and a Batman hoodie shouldnt be an employee. He screamed at me and ridiculed me in front of everyone for ordering two mocktails. If after 20 years of bartending he doesnt know how to serve one, he might not be good for the job. On top of that, he gave my card to a man cause apparently, he is not used to women paying for their own drinks. Horrible service!!!
THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN! My boyfriend and I stumbled on this bar out of random and we are so glad we did! They are all sorts of old school arcade games to play and the music was awesome. The drinks were fairly priced and made very well! You need to bring cash so that you can purchase the coins to put in the slot of the machines. Will be coming back!
I haven’t been a place like this in a long time. I love the arcade games and being able to drink beer at the same time. I had so much fun playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and all the old arcade games along with some new ones. One of the change machines didn’t work but the lady was nice enough to have tokens ready.
I love the inventive names for their drinks. Some of them arent so great tasting but creative and fun nonetheless. The environment is always great and comfortable for all ages. Cobra bar has alot of my favorite arcade games and Ive only had a problem with two of the machines ever. Great place!
Great variety of games! Wonderful night! It is an arcade though so you need to bring money to get tokens. They do have an ATM if you dont have cash. Is a bar so just alcohol and no food but decent variety of beer. Wide variety of music is played and it is also very loud. They also have a patio.
Honestly Ive been in the bar but Im rating the food truck...Holy cow the food was sooooo good. Papa asada with the works!!🤗🙌 the bar was stupid packed...no thanks
A friend chose this place for his bday and its amazing! They have some really nice music and im dumb for not catching the djs name because his music was definitely prime dancing material. You cant go wrong with the drinks I personally loved the Mexican candy shots and their Bandita drink was fire🔥 🔥 🔥 I went on a Monday and it was pretty busy so I cant imagine this place on weekends will definitely have to come back!
Cobra is great. They have fun themed cocktails, and a good selection of beers. They rotate a lot of the games, but keep a few staples without it feeling like things never change. It always feels like a fun new experience each time I go. Anyone that enjoys arcades or bars would enjoy!
Fun place but turns into a club-like scene after hours. Old school games are great and I never had any issues with them eating my tokens. Get there earlier to avoid the crowd and club loud music.
Nice place to relive your childhoods arcade. Second day we went the ATM was broken. Was told that we needed to walk down the block to the next nearest one (why they wouldnt give us cash back with our drinks, Im not sure). In one way I keep hearing its $0.20 for a token (ie - 5 per dollar), but every time Ive gotten tokens its been at the $0.25 price (4 per dollar). Drink selection is decent with lots of options and always seems to be a decent crowd.
Its cool! Really vast game selection and the drinks plus selection are great. Too crowded on the weekends, but worth dealing with if you like to people watch and listen to what the DJ is playing. Great music and staff is very nice.
Underwhelming. While the drink selection is quite nice and the staff was excellent, the game selection and conflicting atmosphere leaves something to be desired. The idea of an arcade bar sounds nice on paper, but you soon find out that it tries to appeal to two different kinds of patrons and will satisfy neither.
More of a nightclub than an arcade bar. They open late (4pm) and once its nighttime the place is slammed with people in their early 20s, DJs, etc. This really isnt a place to play arcades and have some drinks. The arcades are more of a theme it seems.
Staff was awesome, drinks were great. Old school arcade games made the experience even better! We dropped by just in our bar hopping experience and ended up staying for a few hours. Totally worth the trip 👍
Tuesday night has free tokens with drinks, and they have all the old favs, it was hard to decide which games to play! I know we were there on a night that wasnt too busy, would be tough if it was packed!! We had a good time, stuck with beer and had a great time, would Definitely go back and recommend for a date night after dinner
Great bar. Worth checking out if your downtown, especially if theres a game on. Only con is theres not much seating and if its crowded you may have trouble playing most of the arcade games.
