This is a great venue! It has a nice balcony, a large space where you can see the stage from any spot, clean bathrooms, and several bars (so no wait for drinks)! The venue aso had a killer AC system. It was 108 degrees at the time of my show, but inside the venue it was nice and chilly. Another plus is there is plenty of parking nearby! I’ll be happy to go to more shows here in the future.
This was a really cool venue. I had never been here before, but the first thing I noticed was how open the space was. Its not a huge arena, but its a sizeable place that feels like a big concert venue, but still has that intimate space feeling. Its got a balcony with some seating as well, but I think its extra to go up there. Backstage is also really cool if you ever get a chance to see whats back there.
I went to see Sean Paul in concert at this venue. I was highly disappointed with the fact that they do not accommodate their paying customers with any parking! I got there 2 hours early to make sure I got a parking space across the street. I didnt want to walk blocks. Of course, I had to feed the meter about $6 to park where I was,but it was better than coming outside and my car being gone! The lower level of the venue is standing room only,so I paid extra to sit upstairs. When I got there,I discovered they werent actually seats, but bar stools with a back on them. The seating was definitely not worth the price I paid. SP put on a good concert, but Ill never go back to this venue!
This is an awesome music venue! The sound is great and the atmosphere created with the lights and “fog” is perfect. The only reason I’m rating it 4 and not 5 is because of the rude unfriendly bartender. Whoever was the skinny blonde dude working the inside bar during the Marcus King show, that’s who I’m referencing. The rest of the staff were awesome, especially security!
Too crowded with not enough seating. Having to pay additional money to go upstairs where it isnt as crowded and has more seating was kind of off putting and lame. Seeing the production for laser city v3 was a real treat, but again the venue was too small to enjoy it the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Drinks were fairly reasonable but the food options were sub par and quite overpriced for what was included. Staff was friendly but threw out our unopened pack of candy on the way in which was odd seeing as people had an assortment of things that werent allowed in upon entry. The talent we went to see made it tolerable but I certainly wont make this a regular spot to visit.
My first concert at The Van Buren did not disappoint. I saw 6lack here, and it was an incredible concert. The sound was very good, and the open floor space allows you to be close to the stage. The security also works hard to keep the venue safe and in order. I appreciate the hard-working staff there. I will definitely be back to this concert venue again!
Second time being here. I like the wide layout of the place and the acoustics are actually really good in the building. The second time I was there they had benches in the back and side areas which is nice for a general admission venue. Will definitely be looking out for more shows to come. Saw Strfkr the other day and it was the best.*added videos of seeing STRFKR more recently. They never disappoint
Went there last night. The venue itself is cool. The show was great. Ordered two shots of Jameson which was costly at about $35 with tip. Was refused a pickle juice back even though there was an extremely large bucket of pickles with plenty of juice right behind the bartender. Said it was against house policy. Your policy couldn’t be more lame. Maybe be better accommodating to your guests when they are paying those kinds of prices.
Well dang, I have barely been to concerts because I didnt know they could be this comfortable.Very pretty, well laid-out, and air-conditioning seems ready for the hottest of heats.🔦💡Light system and/or skills was very awesome.Theres probably much more good to say about the place that inexperienced me havent appreciated, surely!
I recently attended the Quinn XCII tour with special guests ARIZONA and Julia Wolf at The Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ. I had a great time and the venue was perfect for a concert. The acoustics at The Van Buren were excellent. I could hear every word of the songs and the music sounded great. The sound system was also very powerful, so it was easy to feel the music even if you were standing in the back of the crowd. The bathrooms at The Van Buren were also very clean. I was surprised at how well-maintained they were, especially for a concert venue. There were always plenty of stalls available and the lines were never too long. The crowd at The Van Buren was also very friendly and energetic. Everyone was there to have a good time and they were all really into the music. I didnt see any fights or arguments and everyone was respectful of each others space.Overall, I had a great experience at The Van Buren. The venue was perfect for a concert and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend The Van Buren to anyone looking for a great place to see a show. Here are some additional details about my experience:The venue was clean and well-maintained.The staff was friendly and helpful. The sound system was excellent. The crowd was friendly and energetic.I would definitely recommend The Van Buren to anyone looking for a great place to see a show.
I have mixed feelings about this place. Beautiful venue and they bring in great acts, but it’s really a pity that majority of their shows are standing room only on a flat floor. I’m short so it makes being able to see anything is impossible. Also the ventilation in this place is TERRIBLE. Last two shows I went to I nearly passed out from the heat of being packed in so close and amount of second hand weed smoke I was inhaling.I know it’s hard to regulate, but I’m not a smoker and when it’s already hard to breath from the heat and sweat… it’s ROUGH.They did have a massive floor fan to try to help circulate air, but in reality it only helped the four people standing directly in front of it. It honestly felt better in the 90° weather outside under the misters.I’ve also had pretty bad experiences with the staff. Not at all friendly and very jaded demeanor. However in a bar environment I guess it’s like splitting hairs to complain about service.I do appreciate how clean their bathrooms are though and that they have a nice outdoor area with drinks and food. Just a shame the inside isn’t more comfortable. Please oh please get more fans and perhaps more seating options. 🙏
This venue has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at a venue And it really made the concert a unenjoyable experience. Almost every encounter with an employee and supervisor, they had an attitude. When asking about upgrading tickets to the balcony first, they stated a table for two was $200 then when I went back and asked again, they said it was $100 so there was really no set price and they were just making it up. Thank you to employee checking IDs. She was extremely nice
This is a great small/medium sized venue for concerts. Ive seen a number of shows here recently and the sound was very good. They often feature bands that would play larger venues in other cities. I just saw Royal Blood and not long before that Wolfmother. Both shows were excellent and tickets were reasonably priced.
My First Experience at The Van Buren was absolutely Amazing!! 💯 First, There is Plenty of Parking all around The Venue, Most of it looked to have some kind of security/monitoring. The Venue itself is Wonderful Vibe!! It being General Administration & standing made it so much more personal. (There is a V.I.P section 🙌)Also a upstairs balcony type area to watch the show as well. It was my first time at The Van Burrn but will Definitely NOT be my Last!! If you have never been to a Event at The Van Buren I Highly Recommend the Experience, You wont be disappointed!!Oh.. I saw Prof in concert 9/20/2023LFG 🙌 Incredible Show 👏
This was my first time going to this venue. An honestly Im not a fan of live nation. But we wont get into that here. After the events yesterday Live Nation deserves a huge shout out and thank you! The headlining act bus broke down and was late. Live nation stepped up for the band in a huge way and did VIP meet and greet check in so they could get us in out of the extreme all while supplying us FREE water. All through the show handing out free water to anyone in reach of the rail. The AC in this venue is amazing when it is 115 outside. The Staff and Security is very friendly. The Sound is incredible!
Love going to concerts at The Van Buren! Easy security and friendly staff. Pretty disappointing when 66 man-bun Van Buren Staff stands in front of you and scrolls Instagram for 10 minutes though. He kept holding his girlfriends camera up for videos which made it even worse. If you are under 6 foot, this is a tough theater to get a good view of the stage. The stage is maybe 3 feet tall and the theater floor is flat, so your best bet is to hang out way in the back or get on the balcony.
Had a great experience at The Van Buren. My wife and I recently attended a concert at The Van Buren, and I have to say it was one of the best experiences weve had.My wife was limited to a wheelchair due to recent surgeries, the staff went out of their way to accommodate her and the other patrons in wheelchairs. The staff was great, the sound system steller. Everything about The Van Buren is top notch.
Best venue in the phx area for live music. Beautiful bar area—nice big clean restrooms. It’s my favorite spot to see a show.
Ive attended 4-5 shows here so far. It has several bar lines, so its pretty quick to get a drink. They have hot food options, which are pretty decent. They have an outdoor patio with seating. Staff is pretty friendly and helpful. All-in-all, its a nice venue.
The artists performing were amazing! The venue itself was FREEZING. I know the performers are up there sweating under the lights but the rest of us were turning into ice cubes. Also, the floor was sticky from the very beginning. Other than that, it was a cool vibe overall, a more intimate setting than a lot of concerts.
My wife and I had a great time at a recent VNV Nation show. We were disappointed at the quality of “food” that was offered via table service from a VIP upgrade. We paid over 15$ for 4 small cubes of stale cheese, 3 slices of overly fatty shaved“prosciutto” and two rock hard crackers. Please do better! Plus the server that was watching over our table split mid show leaving just one server for the entire balcony leaving us wondering how to choke down the delightful “snack” we ingested as we could not get anything to drink.Other than that the show went on and we had a good time.
Its been years since I have been in The Van Buren and it really hasnt changed much and is still one of my favorite places to go to concerts. Introducing the kids to the live concert life to start the next generation of music lovers. The three of us went to Jack Kays, K.Flay and Grandson concert in a June 2023 here at The Van Buren and it was one of the most high energy show I have ever been to! Be prepared for long sets of you are standing on the floor. You may be standing for 4-6 hours depending on who is playing and how fast the transitions take.
So this was the first time I had been to The Van Buren so I didnt know what to expect. Its a very nice and spacious place which for concerts becomes standing room on the bottom level with seating on the top floor for extra cost. Drinks were pricey but it makes sense for venues like this. Will definitely return for a concert here.
Please check the bag policy. They only allow clear backpacks, bags, purse or small handbag 4.5 x 6.5. Leave them in your car, so you wont waste your time. We were not required mask. Its clean. Line was quick. They did check the contents of my small purse. We watched stand up comedy so we have seats but I know if you watch concert, some of them dont put the seats out so make sure to inquire.
The Van Buren is a great live music venue. The historic building that once housed the Phoenix Motor Company, beginning in 1939, was renovated around 2017 into a live music venue that holds around 1900 people. It’s standing room only except for an upper deck overlooking the stage that you pay extra to get into (at least at the show I was there for.) There’s food and drink options inside and a couple restaurants and an arcade adjacent to the venue. Parking is a little scattered through the neighborhood around the Van Buren, but there’s plenty of it and it’s easy to get in and out. Not a bad spot in the house. Definitely be keeping my eye on their schedule for an excuse to come back.
LP Concert!!!!!....What can I say...FANTASTIC Concert. Over way to fast!!! I can listen to her for days!!! The Van Buren is a great place to see a concert. Its a smaller venue but 1. Great atmosphere 2. Effective staff.... 3. Acoustics are fabulous and the prices arent outrageous...this is my second concert here and both times have been a great experience. Holds a lot more people than you realize. Will definitely be looking at more concerts there. Not a lot of pics...but I was really enjoying the concert...Thank you
Very cool venue. This was my first time attending a show here so I wasnt sure what to expect. Parking was simple at one of the many lots close by ($5 to park for a downtown event is a bargain in my experience). Entry into the venue was easy as well. Security was ever present but cool. I didnt see any harassment. The main entrance is awesome with the chandeliers and the bar was well staffed. In the ballroom, there really isnt a bad place to be. The band was always visible in this big open room. The sound system definitely kicks! While I prefer a bit more highs in the overall mix, the low end was astounding. You could feel the bass punching you in the chest and I love that!Overall, a great experience. Ill definitely be back for more.
We came for a drag show, dirty disney I believe. The building is beautiful inside, very spacious and clean. Bartenders were very friendly, lots of stalls for the womens restroom, that alone deserves 5 stars.
Nice atmosphere and helpful staff. Appreciated that they was good available for purchase as well as a full bar. Nice venue for an intimate concert. Took one of my daughters to see one of her favorite bands - Set it Off. Third time seeing them and second time at this venue. As it Is as well as other bands opened and were all good. As it Is happens to be another band she is into and the drummer Derek was so personable and have her an autographed set list and then posed for a photo with her when we ran into him after the show.
This was my first time visiting this venue and I loved it! The sound was awesome, the decor was awesome, and it was just overall a great experience! Les Claypools bass sounded so thick and deep here, Ive seen him perform at numerous venues and this was the best sound out of any of them. And for the most part you could see the stage from almost everywhere in the place... Unless youre under 511, then youd have a problem seeing the stage from almost everywhere except for right up front.
This is a nice and clean venue. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the security staff. The only thing I didnt appreciate was how much additional money they wanted to charge the day of the show to sit in the mezzine section.
Liked this spot. First time here for the Sean Paul concert. The atmosphere was really nice and the bars had good liquor. There is no bad place to stand and watch the concert
This was a awesome venue for seeing a band, very well maintained building, with available viewing from two floors, great sound, super nice security, located in an easily found location just off the interstate. Perfect size for enjoying your favorite group, a more personal setting rather than feeling a million miles from the performance. I totally recommend this place, I had a fantastic first experience here seeing Chromeo here, and you will enjoy your favorites here too.
Please is o.k., nothing bad or negative to say about it....food was o.k. ,but I wouldnt order it again, and drinks were good. I guess because it was before the concert, and place started to fill up, it was a long wait for the bill and drinks.Again, please is o.k.
It was a nice venue, the staff were nice handing out water making sure everyone was hydrated! Myself and a couple of other people were waiting for almost 4 hours in line to make sure we were front row, just for the staff not to respect that and bunch people up, people were pushing to get through the front which I think is very unsafe! They should’ve just kept one line but the staff just let a lot of people bunch up by the entrance kinda annoying!
It was both my daughters and I first time visiting The Van Buren. We drove about 7 hrs from El Paso TX to see JINJER perform. And they rocked the house 🤘🔥. My second time seeing JINJER and my daughters first time. Space of Variations, Malevolence, and POD all were equally good. The staff was friendly, good layout and good sound system. Will definitely come back if JINJER announces another U.S. tour for 2023.
Such a fun venue, always a more personal show seeing bands here it feels like. Staff handles the place pretty well so you rarely see issues. Always a good time!
I frequently attend shows at venues all over arizona, and i can officially say the van buren is the worst one. every time i go, there’s an issue with something. my husband and i bought clear stadium-approved bags just to attend a show here, and when we got to the venue, they wouldn’t allow us to bring it in because it had backpack straps and not over the shoulder straps. they offered us a locker but i refuse to pay extra money on top of what we spent for the bags SPECIFICALLY for that show. we ended up throwing away our brand new bags and carried our belongings all night just to see one of our favorite bands. their ID policy is also ridiculous. my sister got turned away from a DISNEY CHANNEL EVENT because they’re not able to accept a photo of an ID if you’re under 21, but they can if youre 21+? makes no sense to me. they also turned away a young child and she left in tears because all she wanted to do was listen to hannah montana lol funny thing is we attended the same exact event a year ago and got in just fine with a photo of her ID. almost every staff member i talked to was so rude and heartless. maybe they need a change of staff and/or policy. until then, me and mine won’t return to this venue.
1st time here a few weeks back and loved it. Cool bar when u first walk in and spacious floor room to the right once u enter. Everyone was nice and chill and performance was awesome. Reminds me like the marquee but I think this place has a bigger and more seats in the upstairs area. Parking was easy to get, just across the street. Looking forward to coming back once another band I like plays here.
The Van Buren is a solid concert venue in Phoenix. The layout is basic, but with enough space to fill the room with music and good energy. The standing area is a wide open floor flanked with bars on either side. There are food and drink options outside as well, and are pretty good quality.Nothing too fancy but overall a great spot to see a show.
The nicest music venue Ive been to. It was immaculate, and the restrooms would have been fine for a nice restaurant, let alone a concert venue. The staff was also great, super friendly even when it was time to shut things down. Large patio outside for the smoker with a beer and food stand, nice big lobby bar. The sound system was great. I have nothing bad to say about this place.
This is a really sweet venue. It has an old timey vibe, its small and intimate, and you can see the stage no matter where you are. The restroom is big and very clean. The bar has a nice selection. They also have outside seating, and they are connected to a pizza place so you can grab food before to show. Beautiful venue. I saw Sleater-Kinney there and the show was exceptional.
Ive been here twice now. A concert for LP a few years ago that was great! Another one just yesterday for Gus Dapperton. There are several areas to order drinks once you pass an ID, bag, and ticket check! I felt secure and the place was almost ice cold 🧊.There is a parking lot, which I believe costs money, I took a Lyft.Once the bands started playing, people gather around the stage and most are polite and give you your space. I always get a basic experience so I cant speak on much else. There is an attached pizza place and a few other restaurants nearby. Overall, I enjoy coming to this venue when my favorite artists show up!
This venue is pretty good... You can buy better seats up in the mezzanine. They were great seats. I would recommend bringing ear plugs with you though as the sound can get a little bit loud! (getting older...) The bathrooms were clean and well lit. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves at the Ice Nine Kills concert!
Update they fish for good reviews some of these reviews are from people that have never attended the venue. Read the true reviews of people who have had real experiences.Im sorry I dont mean to be a complainer but the staff at this venue is brutal. I just had such a bad experience that I couldn’t help but warn others. We got kicked out of this venue before the event even started they were trying to say that a member of our group isnt 21 but she had valid and current ID we asked them to revalidate ID and they did then they made up some story that we were drinking in the line (McDonalds soda) anyway we got kicked out after we spent hundreds on our tickets and no one will talk to us they didn’t care. They acted like us explaining ourselves is arguing. Dont attend this venue. Its not worth it the team is hostile and completely disrespectful. If anyone can reach out to me I would appreciate having a decent conversation. If anyone has tips on what I can do to rectify the situation please respond. Thank youd
This is the second time going to this venue, by myself I have to say, but I enjoyed every second of it, good security, I have to say that from one concert to the other everything have changed, from the prices to the cashless way to buy for drinks, food and merchandise, everything was more expensive, I got a very cool hoodie for 72 taxes included and some 🍻, I will come back hopefully.
Excellent concert venue. Large enough to have fun, but small enough that the show still feels intimate. Mezzanine seats were a great place to see and record video from, and featured a bar with drinks and food brought by a server. This time I saw highly suspect who put on an amazing show. Looking forward to seeing Armin Van Buren here in a few months.
This place is one of the best venues for a concert I’ve ever been to. The stage and floor are smaller so you get a great view no matter where you stand. The outside bar serves the best concert venue food I’ve ever eaten. The barque brisket is absolutely to die for. As far as drink are concerned, I tried their honey badger and take it from me. You have no idea alcohol is in there so you always done it quick and want another one. The staff is also friendly, even security which is unusual for places like this. Well I’ve enjoyed both concerts I experienced and look forward to me next.
Best place in Phoenix for a concert. Small outdoor area. No waiting for the bathroom. No wait for drinks at the two bars. I enjoyed many concerts here, many sold-out shows, and I have never had a complaint. It’s a great, somewhat intimate place to see a show.
Saw a concert there, was roomy, plenty of bathrooms, 3-4 places to get drinks throughout the building. The acoustics in the place is great. Limited parking was an issue.
Great venue really enjoyed it but do not get there to early me and my fiance got there a few hours early to line up for the ville valo concert and once we were let into the courtyard in front of the entrance we were all in a line with our positions from waiting outside not changing much to the employees walking out saying there is no line. Needless to say, everyone who waited for hours to get in, it didnt matter, so it became free for all of who could get into the door first. Didnt really care for that been to other venues that actually keep some semblance of a line to ensure that what happened that night doesnt. Beautiful venue, dont agree on how they handled the non line. Also the funnel they pulled once the door was open was crazy serious safety issues all these people pushing there way into the one door that was open was very unsafe, yet one employee was talking about safety issues weird ig.
Our first time visiting The Van Buren was for Roller Disco Party. It was awesome. My wife and I were amazed at how many people dressed up for the night. We are looking forward to the next Disco night. This venue is really nice. There were at least 3 different bars and plenty of balcony space.I am definitely looking forward to coming back for some concerts.
Great concert and well put together with From Ashes To New on 6/5/24. Great first time experience. Would recommend others to see for themselves.
This is a great place to see live music. The only bad part is the drunken people who feel entitled to force their way to the stage while holding a beer in each hand. The venue is awesome, the concert etiquette sucks with the people….
The Van Buren is a great venue to see a concert. The atmosphere is very chill and Ive never felt cramped in large groups compared to other venues. You should have a good view of the stage nearly anywhere in the place, and Im a short human. It is not incredibly large in size, but its also not small. They have a full bar and the staff is friendly.
The venue’s process to buy band merch was such a failure and something Ive never seen as someone who tours and has been to hundreds of venues big and small. There was one single merch line for all bands, rather than the accessibility of going directly to the merch table of your choice. I observed several people upset, and watched security repeatedly turn people away from approaching an empty and accessible merch table during the show. The line began at one table and even if patrons were not getting merch from THAT table, they were not allowed to go around to the table they wanted merch from - forcing them to wait and missing the show for seemingly no logical reason. The line was so long it blocked the stairs to the mezzanine which is a fire hazard and another issue. Craziest thing Ive ever seen. No doubt this impacted attendees experiences and certain bands sales.
Nice venue, staff are all pretty nice and helpful, wish that the stage was slanted like the Marquee Theatre because it can be hard to see the performers even when your close to the front.Being able to get pizza right after at Ziggy’s is a big plus, it gives people a ideal place to go after the show.
Great venue. The event went flawlessly and the staff was always available to assist. The place is beautiful and well maintained. There is food and beverages for sale on the patio. The only downside is that there are no parking spaces on premises. If the event is shorter than 4 hours, there are parking meters on the streets nearby.
Great venue, clean and a decent size. over 30 pay the extra for balcony seating! Trust me ya old farts
NOT the place for EDM shows. Lots of things to mention are how they only serve overpriced spring water or free water from the fountain which is just tap, bad food for the price too unless you go to the pizzeria next door but there’s no reentry. The balcony is an up-charge but is NOT VIP, it’s just the only place your allowed to sit inside. The sound system also seems for more of an acoustic sound, they don’t turn the subs up high enough (for references I typically don’t beed my earplugs here). Lastly is security, when there’s EDM shows here they have a power trip, not allowing a bunch of things in even though it’s not prohibited, all which I have previously had no problem with till 4/26/24. (No flow toys even if they’re non LED, no point and shoot cameras even though it’s not professional equipment, no face covers although the place is flooded with security, I had a power bank to charge my phone and NOT EVEN THAT!! This place has really gone down hill for the EDM scene so be aware of what to expect inside and be aware for a security named Trent to not let you bring things that aren’t prohibited in the first place.
Looks to be a new building. The air was cranked and the sound was good. The restrooms were in good shape all evening. Dont be fooled going in there are two more large bars inside. Go to the far bar on the east side of the building, the lines are the shortest. But be warned a 24 ounce beer is $12. Also, this venue was supposedly sold out, but was not crazy crowded.
Public parking wasnt too far, although plan to add $20-30 to your fees for the event. Concession available was decent, it didnt take too long to get through security.
Really cool music venue that opened recently in downtown Phoenix. A large bar, satellite bars, a very nice mezzanine that looks down on the floor, and a good size stage. This might be the only place that you are actually tempted to take pictures in the bathroom of the tile and faucets! Only downside is that the floor does not slope so if youre smaller be sure to get there early and get towards the front. They do, however, have bleachers along the side that can be saving grace if you cant see over people.
Love the Van Buren... Big, Open Space... Great Drinks, Clean Bathrooms (lol) and the staff is always wonderful... We’ve gone to about a dozen of their concerts (Blackalicious, Ziggy Marley, Chromeo, Allen Stone, etc) and events and have NEVER been disappointed! Thanks for bringing legend, Common on Sunday night! Amazing show! Can’t wait to come back to the Van Buren!
Dont have vendors selling food on the patio past when you are open if you don’t want people waiting for it. Not a POTS accommodating location, won’t let you sit and wait for your food that you paid for even if you have a disability as long as they want you out. Rude, power-abusive staff
My first time coming here, and I came for the Kevin Smith - Moobys Restaurant pop-up, and wow was it well-organized. The employees and staff were very friendly, and all was well-maintained and sanitized, very socially responsible. I hope more pop-ups happen, and cool venues like The Van Buren keep hosting them. On the way out I saw Galactic will be playing in March, so now I know Ill be back soon.
Saw Allen Stone, great show! Clean venue, general admission is standing only. If you want to sit, pay for the mezzanine. Public parking around the venue was expensive.
100% obsessed with this venue. It’s absolutely huge but we were able to see the stage easily and didn’t have to fight for a spot. Drinks were on pointe. I was shocked they actually made a proper old fashioned and it was great. Upper seating de k is a great option when buying tickets. Looking forward to the Madonna dance party.
Just saw Crosses the other night. Solid little venue. Great sound quality. Staff are super friendly. Easy to enter and leave. Multiple metal detectors on the way in.
I visited The Van Buren on October 21 for Maggie Rogers. The show was fantastic. I really enjoyed this venue. It was very nice and clean; a pretty classy spot. It wasnt very large which was great because the performances felt more intimate. Id highly recommend visiting. It was my first time at this venue and I had no complaints whatsoever. In fact, this would have to be my favorite venue Ive ever visited; I definitely plan on checking out more shows.
Wonderful two floor venue with great sound system. Clean with a nice aesthetic.Standing is the name of the game for general admission and the ground level, though, they sometimes roll out seats up closer to the stage. Premium/VIP seats are on the second level balcony as well.Decent craft beer selection at the bar. A tall costs about $12. There is a bar inside and outside of the concert proper.Would go to again.
Love the venue, way better than being down on Mill. Just wish the parking was better. No onsite parking, and most of the rather empty parking lots around are trying to charge $30 for parking.
First venue Ive been to, was not disappointed. Location wasnt hard to get to. Had paid parking for about $30. I believe the time limit was roughly 8 hours. Didnt use any facilities so Im unaware of the conditions or accessibility. The staff were really welcoming. Didnt have any bad experiences, enjoyed myself. If another favorite band of mine rolls on through there, believe Ill be back 👍 thank you all for the hospitality.
Dont let the outside of this place fool you, they can pack a house and get drinks out in a timely manner. Everyone was super nice, even on a sold-out concert night.
Great place to see a band. Not too big but also not too small. Sound is very good (depends whos doing the mixing). Easy to get a drink but craft beer options are limited. Parking is not bad if you go a block or two away. One of my favorite venues in Phoenix.Update: still one of my favorite venues two years later. Drinks cost more but still reasonable for an event space. Ticket prices still very reasonable. I really dont mind driving from the east valley to see bands here. Way better than stadium shows.
This is now my favorite venue for music. Watched Sabaton tonight, and of course the band blew the house down. But to the Van Burens credit, it magically rebuilt itself so fast that no one really noticed. The staff and security were all great, and super polite. We sat in the party section on the mezzanine, and it was damn near perfect. Well be back for Amon Amarth, and we already have mezzanine seats reserved!
One of the best concert venues in phx! I love to watch shows here, there isnt a bad spot in the place to watch the show from. You can order food and 2 bars inside and 1 outside for quick drink service. Staff is always nice and respectful. Also if you really want to feel comfortable and have your own space, you can get balcony seats with its own private bar.
Horrible for ADA folks, no disabled person can comfortably sit on high bar stools! And behinad all of the sound and lighting equipment!! And the spouse has to stand outside of the ADA roped off area. drunk people in there falling down- awful! Never again…. And Ashley McBryde is too big now for that Rinky-dink bar. …Ugh, was miserable all night and left early before my 3 fav songs.
Went to see Beartooth here and I couldnt be more impressed. The venue was sold out for this show and it still felt like there was plenty of room to move around. It was a general admission show with no seating on the main floor but there was limited seating outside on the patio where you could take a load off. You could also grab some food out there. Inside, the only seating was in the VIP section. These were high-boy bar stools at little tables on a balcony along the back and side walls. Not only could you sit down, but no pro basketball players could stand in front of you and block your view...There was hardly any line to get into the show (the line was a little longer for age verification prior to entry). Once you got your 21+ wristband, it was a breeze to get in and get a drink. And there were plenty of bars both inside and out.The security crew was fantastic! They kept the lines moving quickly at the entrance and were very helpful. They stayed busy all through the show catching crowd surfers and keeping everyone safe. They even handed out small cups of water to keep people hydrated during the show!Parking was the only hassle as there is no dedicated venue parking and it is in downtown Phoenix. I found parking about a block away and walked. The plus side to that was there were not many pedestrians to deal with once I got back to my car.
A favorite venue for shows. Seen dozens of shows here, always great. Intimate and laid back.
Stood in line for 4 hours in the sun to get in. Staff came with 2 jugs of water. I asked for one and the Lead security said No and laughed and then started chugging from his bottle giving us direct eye contact. 30 minutes later my girlfriend passed out inside the show and has to be escorted out by medics. This place has no humanity.
Stunning! Good acoustics (at least where we were on the ground, stage left), good sound production. We saw Iron and Wine there recently and were totally impressed by the renovations. Definitely my favorite venue now, although I think accessibility options could be clearer both on their site and during the ticket purchase process. Basically plan on getting there when doors open (theres dining outside) if you want to score a seat in the small bleacher area or at one of a few cocktail tables around the parameter. Theres a balcony as well, but its stair accessible and requires a wristband. The main floor is ground level, which is great for wheelchair access but its also standing room apart from the options above. If you are in a wheelchair, you might want to call and ask if they have a more accessible option that doesnt compromise your view/experience.
They charge too much for a balcony view when there isnt a guarantee that youll have a better view of the show, especially if you dont get a stool. There are different levels of up grades, but be careful. You may have to stand the entire show looking over other people.
Always a great time, small venue, nice facilities and great staff, never hesitate in going to a show here
Great place to see a show! Weve never been here before but my husband bought tickets 4 months ago for Tyler Childers. They sold out quick. If you get there a couple of hours earlier you can meet the band as they come off the bus. We got there an hour earlier and missed them. The line was already around the building but we still got our food and drinks pretty fast. The lines were much longer 30 min later. It was amazing how close to the band you can get! The pulled pork Frys were delicious but small for $10! The 24 oz beer was $10. But considering we only paid $28 for our tickets it was worth it.
The Van Buren took such good care of us tonight. I will definitely be coming back . I am so grateful for the workers who rallied around us tonight and made us feel so valued.
Saw The Maine here and the sound was absolutely incredible. Not a bad seat in the place unless youre behind one of the support beans in the back. I wish good venues didnt work with Live Nation, but the venue itself is great.
I always have a great experience. The staff is top notch. They really take care of habdcapped people like me. Thank you for your care and empathy.
Great venue, fun staff. The only downside was the audio quality. Lots of shaky raddeling things when the bass hits.
Great venue Arizona! Comfortable environment. Even in the back youre close to the stage. Good sound throughout. For a concert venue it is incredibly clean. Clean bathrooms with tons of stalls and stocked with butt wipe. Full bar with decent drinks. Nice outdoor area and metal detector entrance to help with safety. Will definitely go back. The only negative is parking is very hard to find unless you pay 30 bucks. Overall Great place.
I love this place for shows and themed dance nights! Sound system is great and place us always kept up and clean, but it doesnt get the 5th star due to drink prices. Cocktails are on the expensive side even for wells. Im sure pricing is for a reason, but compared to other standard bar/venues its a little on the higher side for the same quality.
Phenomenal venue! I only wish I’d have been here more times than I actually have. This place is right next to the best Pizza spot in town! Ziggy’s Magic Pizza! Pull thru for a slice with a two slice mix-n-match and a drink special for $9! Also, $2 cheese slices all day on Tuesday! So next time Yall pull up for a show here make sure to get some Ziggy’s while’s you’re at it!
Came here to see the Knocks, Cannons, and Juliana Madrid. Venue is setup really nice with an outside patio area with seating and bars, a large indoor bar section, and the stage towards the front. There is also some private reserve seating on the second floor. It feels very open and not crowded. Plenty of restrooms so you never have to wait too long. Acoustics were good, plenty of cool air and ventilation so it wasnt too hot. Staff is really serious about security and under age drinking but felt really safe. There is a parking lot nearby and a designated uber drop off area. No complaints this place is awesome for small to medium concerts!!!
Saw Ween recently here and the venue was great except for the beverage I ordered was supposed to have some alcohol in it. I rarely drink and was looking forward to having a mini buzz so I was disappointed especially after paying $22.00 for it and thats before the tip. Ween was so good though as always.
Love this venue in DTPHX. Amazing bands come through here, and come and go by the blink of an eye! Definitely get set up with email notifications or follow them on social media to keep up on who is coming into town! The venue itself is beautiful, and as long as you are taller than the average person or make it to the balcony level, there is not a bad seat in the house ;)
So amazing, great atmosphere, great drinks and a very good venue for concerts where youre standing a lot!
At this point in time, Ive now attended 3 shows at this particular venue. Thus far, no complaints...the staff has been friendly, the bartenders are a bit heavy-handed and as well they should be for those drink prices, security is usually on point, they also have several small lockers available located near the entrance which is definitely a plus.. so when your girlfriend insists on bringing the big purse, the little purse, and a change of shoes,- no worries,- rent a locker, and its all good. Overall, I have to say, I do like this venue and have enjoyed coming to shows here.
Went to the PROF concert here. It was the best show ever! The venue was an intimate size so it was easy to maneuver. Not so small that it took away from the concert experience. Overall I liked the layout of the place and had no problem with waiting in line. Service was decent and bathrooms were clean, no waiting. Outdoor patio area if you wish to smoke or vape.
Ween was great on 14th and 15th, clean restrooms and nice floor great security and workers. Solid audio and visuals, good sound isolation from the outside too when you gotta take a breather or something ahah. Come here for sure if youre in the area and one of your favorite bands are playing. Tickets are pretty cheap too if you catch em a couple weeks beforehand
I was supposed to see Mariah the scientist tonight. They kicked me and my friend out for “under age drinking”. I’m 21+, she is not. SHE DID NOT DRINK, never held a cup, wouldn’t even blow over a 0.0 on a breathalyzer test. On top of that, they wouldn’t show us camera footage of it happening. ON TOP OF THAT, they wouldn’t give us a refund. Truly unfortunate situation but girl with the red hair in bob/shoulder length cut, freckles, and nasty attitude needs to be fired
Let me start off by saying this isnt in regards to service or the atmosphere of The Van Buren as Ive never been inside as a customer, but towards interactions with the staff as a bystander using the city bus stop. Ok now that thats been said here is my problem with The Van Buren the staff including some of the management are homophobic, bullies, and believe they have authority and can have someone trespassed from city/public property, **NEWS FLASH** Van Buren Staff you are 100% WRONG in that belief, because of this incident I will never patron The Van Buren and ask that if youre against homophobia and bullying boycott The Van Buren and encourage the Owner and not the General Manager to reach out to me and further discuss this incident further. Ok more about the incident my husband suffers from PTSD and several other mental health issues on this particular day he was having a mental health crisis and as his spouse I know how to deal with him. We had been walking from 15th Ave & Van Buren trying to find a bus stop with space for me to sit and we could wait for a bus (I myself have a heart condition and cant walk long distances without needing to sit and rest for a few minutes) but if youve been down Van Buren close to downtown you know that the bus stops get camped out/overtaken bu the homeless using it as their home or local hamgout spot. When we get to the bus stop at 5th Ave and Van Buren my husband does something (I admit he could of handled better), Im not going to say. I will say what he did caused The Van Buren Staff to step in (I will commend them for this and only this). As Im talking to my husband about what just happend the staff start making comments and escalating my husbands mental state, I calmly tell the staff that Im his husband and hes having a mental health emergency and Im attempting to handle him. Now the correct response for this situation would be for the staff to cease all communication with my husband at that time and continue to communicate with me if anything further needed to be done, because in order to descalate my husband the the environment around him needs to be calm and such. What do you think happened if you guessed The Van Buren Staff continued to escalate the situation youre correct by name calling using homophobic slurs (not very professional and in any job that I worked at doing something that could potentially be labeled a possible hate crime would be and is grounds for immediate termination there were 2 fairly build women outside that I assumed were management, they actually took the side of the employees and did absolutely not a G-D@mn thing to get them to put their focus back on their actual jobs but instead theatend to call the police and have me trespassed or arrested while standing on city/public property while trying to descalate the situation. Now unless those staff members were MDs, Nurse Practioners, or Psychologist working in the the mental health field and knew what they were doing and this was just a side hustle (although I dont know why) H*LL Id even take Psychology/Med students on their Psychiatry rotation offering to help me with my husband. Seriously all the Van Buren Staff was doing was keeping me from what needed to be done, the owner needs to seriously seriously consider re-evaluating who really belongs in a management position and who needs to be demoted/let go and his general staff mainly the the tall skinny white male with red hair and goatee and the heavier build Hispanic/light skinned male with glasses and dark hair should both be immediately terminated as they were the main 2 escalating the situation and using the homophobic slurs and name calling. Again to the OWNER NOT THE GENERAL MANAGER of The Van Buren I encourage you PLEASE contact me to discuss this incident further.
I was there for a concert recently. Found a parking lot within walking distance. There is a parking garage within walking distance. It was very clean, very beautiful. Had a nice outdoor patio, the bathrooms were clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. I was very satisfied with this venue. Had beer, alcohol and small bites to eat. It was easy to navigate and easy to find.
I cannot express my gratitude enough to the venue staff, they were beyond kind, helpful, and accommodating. I approached a young Security Officer, Mason, with an assistance request and when he was unable to answer my question he radioed for his Security Supervisor without hesitation. Both were complete gentlemen who helped me to the best of their abilities and led to one of the most memorable concert experiences Ive ever had.Adam, the Security Supervisor, was candid and honest in his responses to my questions, giving me realistic expectations that were later surpassed thanks to the efforts of both him and his amazing staff.I would recommend this venue a thousand times over and will most definitely be returning.
Had a blast, there was plenty of dancing room and moving around room. Everyone was polite, great place to see live music.
Drinks from the bar are delicious, good size and not over priced. Nice set up, bathrooms super clean and even have a place to sit if needed.
Great venue, lots of space, not hard to get a drink or use the bathrooms. Never felt claustrophobic while dancing or on the venue floor. Excited to go back
I absolutely love the Van Buren! We have gone multiple times for 90s Hip Hop Dance Party night and also the Nsync vs. Backstreet Boys night! It was a packed house for each event.I like the fact that they have three bars in the venue making it easy to get a drink. The patio area is great for a late night snack, a cold drink from the outside bar and just hanging out with friends outdoors.I also very much appreciate the security. I always feel safe here!
I always enjoy shows at the Van Buren. It is run so much more professionally than every other venue in the county. They get you in on time. The sound is good. The view is great and its never hot. Also, security is very polite and helpful.
Nice small venue. Not a lot of seating space. Prepare to stand. Otherwise a great place to see a show.
Absolutely love seeing shows at The Van Buren! Not a single bad view in the house despite being standing room only (balcony has paid seating but who sits at a concert?😁) I havent tried the food but it always smells delicious. I get even more excited when a band I want to see picks this venue to play at! I Greatly appreciate how safe they make coming here too, theres almost always police on site after a show, I never feel uncomfortable walking alone to my car afterwords. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Just an overall great venue, cant say enough good about it! You wont be disappointed!
Got my 1st show at the Van Buren featuring Mt. Joy and Trampled by Turtles. We were there for the Turtles but the line extending around the block on account of the airport like security was in effect. Staff did their best to alert those in line about the no purse policy but alas the line was long and confusing. Bottom line we missed the Turtles but got to ride on Astrovans with Jesus. At another show it was less crowded and flowed much better. As always things are getting better with time.
