So I will start out by saying this … I honestly and truly wanted to love this place unfortunately that didn’t happen. I honestly think it needs better management. It’s very dated in terms or the aesthetics of the spa it just feels OLD AND RAN down , Compared to the other many beautiful spas in Raleigh. But that wasn’t the most tasteless part of my experience. I do have one positive the salt cave was ok. But my service was the worst!!!The masseuse that I had was 🆕 and I could tell because the massage felt like it was from a student in school. She was very unsure of herself. It was very inconsistent what she did on one side she didn’t do on the other. If your a person that get massages on a regular then you’ll understand what I’m say. I have no problem with people being new however they should shadow or have to do demonstration on the owner in order to get a job you should feel what your customers/clients would be receiving before putting them out there . Because I value my self care days and I pay quality price I would like to receive quality service.Needless to say I won’t be returning to this establishment nor would I encourage anyone else to spend money here if your looking for a well balanced, tension, relief, Massage you won’t receive it here however I did find two new places that I received awesome service fromMy first choice is 1)LORENA LUCA SPAMy second is 2) WoodHouse they are both Worth every penny .
I had the Marine Flower facial which was awesome. My skin felt hydrated and healthy following my visit. My therapist was excellent - she was the best part of the visit. This is a large place, but yet felt very cramped - way too many people in the relaxation room (definitely NOT relaxing) and the locker room was the same way. No changing rooms unless you step into the small toilet areas. I’m sure this place is making enough money for some much needed updates and possibly rearranging the layout.
I had an AWESOME deep tissue massage with Meg Anne! She was professional, personable and kind. A skilled technician, she knew exactly what areas of my body needed extra attention. During my massage, she made sure I was comfortable during every phase. I left feeling relaxed and renewed! I would highly recommend her!The facility was.clean and the environment was relaxing and inviting. The relaxation room experience prior to my massage was great. Staff was professional and friendly.I’m giving 4 stars because I felt the locker room area was too small so space is limited when several people are in the room but my service was definitely 5 stars.
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a spa treatment with Edith at Skin Sense A Day Spa, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I walked in, Edith’s warm and welcoming demeanor put me at ease. Her professionalism and expertise were evident throughout the entire session.Edith’s skillful techniques and attention to detail made for an incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating experience. She took the time to understand my specific needs and tailored the treatment accordingly, ensuring that I left feeling refreshed and revitalized. Her dedication to providing a top-notch service truly sets her apart. The ambiance of Skin Sense A Day Spa is serene and calming, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Edith’s exceptional care and the tranquil environment combined to create an unforgettable spa experience.I highly recommend Edith at Skin Sense A Day Spa to anyone seeking high-quality spa treatments. Her passion for her work and genuine care for her clients shine through in every aspect of her service. Thank you, Edith, for an amazing experience!
My wife and I received a couples massage during Fathers Day weekend. As always, the atmosphere and staff at Skin Sense are very relaxing and my therapist Meg Anne was no exception. She had a calm, confident manner which allowed me to relax more than I have in a long time. She was also very responsive to my requests and made me feel as if I was the center of the universe. Her ability to read my bodys responses put me completely at ease. Thank you again for your service.
My husband and I had our couples massage there and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The customer service was impeccable, the massage felt so nice, and the ambience was actually very relaxing. Looking forward to our next one.
What an amazing day! Had a massage with Deborah which was great…so relaxing and finished that with a visit to the salt cave. Perfect day! Everyone was kind, helpful and super professional. Can’t wait to go back. And they have the cutest gift items!
I have been a Skin Sense Spa Member for several years, and love Skin Sense. I have had some wonderful massage therapists come and go throughout in my years of going to SS, and for the past year or two I have had the absolute privilege of being treated by Joi. She is such an amazing therapist and I am so thankful she is a part of the team! If you’ve been to Skin Sense in the past, but haven’t been in the last year or two- come check them out again! They have made some nice improvements to the facility, and the entire staff seems to be top notch. Also, the boutique shop is awesome, every time I come there is something new to see. They have the best gift items!!
This is my favorite place to come and relax. I get treated like the staff’s favorite client each visit. My masseuse (Joi) is the absolute best. I have had many different masseuses over my time coming here but she goes above and beyond making me comfortable. If I need extra pillows or anything she works to make sure I am well taken care of.
I took my niece here for a first time spa experience for her birthday! For that purpose, mission accomplished. She had a great time! The spa is beautiful (boutique very crowded with merchandise though) and serene. As other reviewers mention, the locker room is tight but has everything you need. The waiting lounge fills up quickly. When it is at max capacity, it doesnt feel very Zen. My massage was good, not fantastic but... I dont believe this is the massage therapists fault. Sometimes our bodies hurt and the massage is SO helpful, other times we may not get as much out of it. The facial was nice but its hard to compare because I was previously seeing an esthetician that was the best Ive experienced. She moved away--its hard to meet that bar. One last item--I found it strange that the esthetician working on my niece (who is 16) sold her a Deluxe Age Defying Treatment. My niece loved the experience and the outcome (skin was clean, sparkling a lovely) so that was great! It just feels like the service didnt match the clients needs/profile.
I have been to Skin Sense many times over the years and I have never had a bad experience! Every service I have received has been exceptional from facials, massages, body treatments, waxing and more. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and the spa is clean and well-maintained. My only (minor) complaint is that there is too much merchandise in the lobby area. It looks a bit cluttered. Other than that, always great experiences! Make sure to ask for Alyson is you are getting a facial. She is awsome!
Highest rating for Mera Holder for healing touch and wonderful massages. Ive been going to her twice a month for 50 minute massages for 3 months now, and she has gotten to know all my spots. I tried the salt cave for this first time yesterday, and could feel the effect on my sinuses. Had a wonderful nap, too!
Deirdre was my therapist and I only have one word to describe her, AMAZING, she is a miracle worker. She’s so knowledgeable in what she does and truly gave me an amazing 80min deep tissue massage and it was worth every penny and some. I have been to other spas but skin sense has thee best therapist hands down. I only want Deirdre from this day forward when I come to skin sense. I literally fell asleep on the massage table after my massage and Deirdre had to wake me up 😁. I could just go on and on. Thank you soooo much Deirdre you’ve literally medicated my body today you are truly appreciated 🙏🏾 . See you soon.Ps Deirdre definitely deserves a raise companies need to cherish good workers this is what makes people come backSuggestions:One thing that can improve is the quiet room. I do wish it was more personal space instead of being in an open small room. Guest lay there talking and you can hear their entire conversation which is not very calming and very disruptive for people wanting quiet time.
My girlfriend and I absolutely loved our couples massage. They were both professional, in sync, and totally crushed it. I floated out of the front door feeling light, calm and happy. Anna is really really good at what she does! Can’t wait to come back
Fantastic experience in the salt cave! Booked a session with my mom as a surprise for Mothers Day and we both loved it. The spa is clean, calm, and gorgeous. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We will be back!
Tyler and Paige were amazing (I do apologize if I spelled your names wrong). They allowed our massage therapy class to do a tour of their facility, Q/A time, participate in the salt cave, provided great info/ goodie bags, and purchase gifts from their store. The entire experience was amazing and as a future therapist I am definitely considering working at an establishment like this. Very friendly and super supportive. You couldn’t ask for anything more!
Joi is the absolute BEST! she is very knowledgeable and Ive never had a massage better than hers! Ive been coming to skin sense over 10 years
Self-care is hard for me. I actually was tricked into skin sense and surprised with a massage (He Loves Me). Joi took such good care of me I cant wait to face the week. I had an revelation and I will begin to take better care of myself . As I was able to relax I realized I make sure my dog is less stressed than me. I have someone to clean my car, my house, my hair, my nails, time for overall care.
I just had a fabulous massage from Michelle, she applied the right amount of pressure and noted areas that were tight. She was great and I really appreciated the insightful information. I will schedule my next one with massage with her. Thank you!
I absolutely loved my birthday spa 🧖🏽♀️ day with Mera doing my massage and it was amazing! She was everything and I feel nice and refreshed after the salt cave visit as well. I will definitely be back to book with Mera. Thank you again💜
I used to go to Skin Sense years ago but I had not been in a while. My aunt and uncle gave me a gift card for my birthday so I decided to check them out again. I was anxious about which therapist to choose for my full body massage so I read some of the Google reviews. I ended up going with Mera and she did NOT disappoint!! For me, the therapist can make or break the appointment. I liked that Mera went over the questionnaire with me and asked if I had any areas that I wanted to focus on. The level of pressure was exactly what I was looking for and she honed in on my tense areas to provide relief. I was coming off a stressful weekend and Mera provided the relaxation and stress reliever that I needed. A couple of times I caught myself snoring during the session but Mera didnt mind. I already made an appointment to see her again in August!!
Really had a great birthday experience here! I got the head-to-toe treatment and it was well-needed! The staff was friendly. The only thing I didnt like was that the changing area was really small but the good thing is that they had all the things you may need in there before or after your service like shower, towels, brush, curling iron, blow dryer.
I have been coming to Joi at Skin Sense for many months. She is an incredible massage therapist. Finding a good therapist is very hard and when I found her, I have stuck with her. She listens to what your concerns are and focuses on your problem area and offers advice on how to do stretching on your own to keep the area loose. Thank you Joi. I will definitely continue to book my future appointments with you.
When you are paying for relaxation and someone is snoring through 90% of the salt cave visit then there is a problem. Also, there should be a way online to determine how many people are booked for your session. The small salt room is jammed with about 9 chairs, and today there were a total of 5 people. There should also be no cancellation or rescheduling fees if there are too many people booked for your session. I would not recommend this specific place if you don’t like loud snoring and interruptions to your relaxation— opt for private salt caves elsewhere instead.
I wanted to share my recent experience at your Raleigh spa location. While the massage service was commendable, I feel compelled to bring attention to certain aspects that impacted my overall satisfaction. My primary concerns revolve around sanitation, cleanliness, and the issue of overbooking. In the meditation area, I observed towels not being changed after use. Staff members would refold used blankets and place them back for the next person, irrespective of whether the previous occupant had just showered or used the towels. Additionally, the glass pitcher in the meditation room containing infused water appeared unclean, with a noticeable ring inside.Cleanliness was a major letdown, with spider webs in the corners of the meditation room and a less-than-ideal state in the mud room, where we even encountered a bug climbing the wall. These factors significantly detracted from the comfort I had hoped for during my visit. Moreover, the meditation rooms size seemed inadequate for accommodating the number of visitors during our appointment time. People were left without proper seating, sitting on occupied chaises, and complaints arose about the coed nature of the room, catching some visitors off guard. While the massage service was enjoyable, the issues I encountered in sanitation and cleanliness overshadowed the positive aspects of my visit. Having spent over $500, I expected a more pristine and well-maintained environment.I trust that you will take this feedback constructively, as it is intended to highlight areas for improvement rather than criticize. I believe addressing these concerns will contribute to an enhanced experience for future customers.
Wow! My husband had Joi to provide an 80 minute massage. He raved about how professional she was. And how she addressed all of his concern areas. He will definitely be coming back soon!
I booked the Peppermint Patty with Ara as a bday self-care treat and truly enjoyed it! I was even sent a 10% of discount for my bday and they applied it without any question or issue. The front desk staff welcomed me and explained the process of the locker room, lockers, and relaxation room and asked if I had any questions.Ara was great! She explained the process in the beginning and ensured I felt comfortable the entire time. As I have once worked as a receptionist for a massage boutique in the past, I know some may not enjoy being asked questions about pressure, etc. But I was really grateful Ara asked questions as I’m not always one to speak up. She even asked if I’d like her to set up a mini fan to drown out any additional noise - I liked this as I’m a big fan of brown and pink noise.I like the overall set up but can say the decor is a bit outdated but I wouldn’t say it took away from my positive experience. I would return for additional bodywork/massages in the future.
I had the Peppermint Patty Massage for my birthday and it was such a treat. Mera did an amazing job. I was so relaxed after and it was the perfect experience for a tired working mom.
I started my day with a bad migraine and came in to see Mera for a 25-minute massage with CBD enhancement. She helped my neck and back relax so well! Would highly recommend her if you like a firm pressure.
My boyfriend treated me to a full massage and I throughly enjoyed the experience. The staff are extremely professional and the environment is relaxing. It felt like an escape from the world, loved that. They have small touches like tea and water in their relaxation room that I appreciated. I can’t wait to book again with Emily.
Go elsewhere!! Scam of a service!! My husband and I decided to get a couples massage for our anniversary. I booked the appointments, and noticed they also had an extra package for couples, called the Couples Suite, which included a 30 minute therapeutic soak for two. It was pricey, but figured why not get a little extra pampering? Terrible idea.To start off, the massages were fine. We both paid for an enhancement (he got the deep tissue and I opted for the hot stone). We were taken back to the room, which had a nice looking tub in it along with the treatment tables. Only thing off at first was that my masseuse was like, Ok, I guess Im working with you. Um, ok? Awkward, but whatever. We both relaxed into our 80 minute massages. Near the end of mine, my masseuse had to pause to start running the bath. He returned as it filled up, and continued the massage, but it was interrupted again since he had to stop and cut the water off. Was a little distracting. Still, not a big deal yet.On to the therapeutic soak. It was a large nice looking jacuzzi tub and clean. Full of water. Thats it. No oils, bubbles, flower petals or ANYTHING added to suggest it was supposed to be relaxing or therapeutic. Nothing to make it a treatment. No aromatherapy. Nothing. I mean NOTHING. We were told that we could adjust the water temperature as we saw fit, and at the end of our 30 minutes they would crack the door and flick the lights to let us know our time was up. The massage therapists remade the massage tables and left. My husband and I just looked at each other. We said, ok, well at least its a jacuzzi tub with jets. Wrong. Well, it was. But none of the controls worked. They were either broken or purposefully not hooked up. No power connected. Didnt know this until we got in. There was also a hand attachment nozzle, it was hooked up, but it didnt work either. At first we laughed at the absurdness of it. Surely, there was some mistake, right? This was a $95 treatment!!! We had no way to signal anyone that we needed assistance or had questions. We really didnt know what to do. We started to stress. They werent actually gonna charge us almost a $100 to sit in a bathtub for 30 minutes, right? Unfortunately, worrying about the cost of the soak we were in was anything but therapeutic. We completely lost the relaxation we had just gained from our massages as it was replaced by agitation and stress over the stupid bath. Not sure if they forgot about us, or we were just that miserable, but the 30 minute bath felt longer than our 80 minute massages. When someone finally came to get us the spa had closed and we were the only ones left. The water had been collected so we didnt have a chance to get a drink on the way out. We were still warm and and naturally thirsty. Not a big deal. I understand they wanted to get out of there but maybe leave time for the treatments you schedule for people to finish in the future so they dont feel rushed. Upon checkout the receptionist asked if we enjoyed our treatments. We said, not exactly. We told her the massages were good but the bath was awful. We asked if the controls were broken on the tub and if we were supposed to get some kind of soak added to the water to make it a soaking experience. She giggled and said, Oh no, its just a soak. The controls dont work! We told her that was not worth $95! She ignored that and said she had us all checked out and told us we had a balance of $25 left on our gift card and asked if we wanted to leave that as a tip to to our massage therapists. We looked at each other. This young lady was clearly not a manager. We said yes to the tip and added another $45 to be divided between our massage therapists. It wasnt their fault the bath sucked and as I said before, the massages were fine. Tried calling to get an explanation and hopefully an apology on this ridiculous charge for a bath. Unsuccessful on reaching anyone as of now. Weve never felt so ripped off at a spa! Disappointing.
I had a death in my family and I had to cancel my appointment. I asked for grace and instead of compassion the manager Tyler stated that there is a policy of restitution for the therapist to get paid for services not rendered. It is a shame that there are not special circumstances for death of a family member. Its simply greedy and disrespectful!
I received a $250 gift card for Christmas and was told it was a massage & facial package.. Yesterday, I went to Skin Sense and received both. Was told at checkout, I owed extra $85. Massage was $110; facial was $225. I paid the extra because they require your credit card to keep on file when you book an appointment so they have an advantage. (BTW, if you should have to cancel for any reason within 24 hrs of appt, your credit card gets charged anyway)Definitely won’t be going back!
I did a deep tissue/ therapeutic massage with Michelle Grady and it was great she knew what she was doing and don’t have any complaints. They ensure you relax the whole time and take all of it in.
Not what we expected. Staff was new and did not provide the calibre of service paid for. Disappointing. We were surprised that we told them of the bad experience with the therapist. They made no attempt at recompense. We changed in the massage room, because we were 7 minutes late and missed the full spa experience. We called to inform them of our late arrival ahead of time. This did not help. We were treated less than and felt it all the way to the counter to pay. We were charged for a 30 minute back massage, With charges for hot stone and deep tissue and trigger point. This was supposed to be a 50 minute full body couples massage. The stones kept falling on the floor, we will leave the rest to you. At checkout, they could not figure out how to use the gift card. It ended using all $355 exactly for services with gratuity. We were not offered a receipt. My heart sank, for my husband. He had the newbie. He had bought this gift card for my birthday. They should have informed us we would receive a less than experience and asked us to reschedule. To allow us to experience this poor service is.....a travesty! It was an awful start to our anniversary weekend. A yearly event so treasured, was ruined.
I recently had the pleasure to have another 50 min. massage with Emily Melvin. She is always kind, knowledgeable, professional, and very skilled at what she does.I always leave with a spring in my step.
Deidra is great for a massage, very relaxing while working on trouble areas for me. Would definitely recommend asking for her. She is amazing!
I never feel compelled to write google reviews, but Paige was incredible! It was my first massage ever, and she did a great job explaining what she was going to do and making sure everything was comfortable with me. She genuinely cared that I had a good experience. If I decide to come again, Im definitely requesting her!
Andrew was fantastic. Probably one of the top three massages I have gotten in the past 15 years & I get them monthly. Great attention to detail & super friendly.
This place is amazing! I came here with a friend a few weeks ago to visit the salt cave and it was wonderful! The customer service was great and everyone was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back! Thank you so much for such a lovely experience!
The fact that I am a new customer and a very busy mom and sometimes I forget things!, this was gonna be my second appointment and the guy that called to confirm if I was going to make it didn’t care at all and he just said that will charge me anyway for a service I didn’t get and this is for a NEW customer!, I was going to do a monthly or twice a month service but guess I won’t moving forward. I will definitely not recommend this place if this is how they’re gonna treat new customers!. I know it’s a business trust me I’ve work with clients, companies, etc. It’s very common to get this type of situation and even tho you don’t have to but most companies do a one time waiving fee out of curtesy. Hope they can change their ways!
Did a massage and salt cave experience. Booked a deep tissue massage and confirmed with therapist thats what I wanted. It was like a light pressure swedish massage. I even asked for deeper pressure during that and no changes. I explained what happened to the front desk and asked them to remove the extra charge for deep tissue. They did, which I appreciated.
I am very satisfied with the treatment I receive at the spa, my therapist is Joi B, very professional, dedicated and caring, at the end of each treatment she recommends ways to improve my feelings, I am very happy that she is my therapist.
My friend and I did a spa day for my birthday. We did massages, muditation, and the salt cave. Both of our massages were bad and very expensive. For the price, I expected way more.We didn’t want to make a big deal about it, and continued the day. The mud experience was nice but the room was cold. The salt cave was relaxing and we enjoyed that.Overall, for what we paid I was very disappointed with the massages. The spa space is nice and clean and all of the staff were helpful and friendly, but it was not worth the cost at all.Update: my friend who the booking was under and I both reached out. after an initial call and their promise to have a manager reach out to us we never heard from them again… I never leave negative reviews because I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it still makes me feel sick to my stomach the amount of money my friend spent on this subpar experience
Every time Im in Raleigh, I make sure to visit Skin Sense. Each visit is a wonderful experience. A couple of years ago, I struggled with acne. Being a teenager and in school, this made it difficult to feel comfortable in my own skin. Despite this, I always felt welcomed entering the Skin Sense. The staffs warm smiles and empathetic approach made me feel welcomed always. I would always feel as if they truly cared about making a difference to my skin and would actively give me product recommendations and suggestions to further care for my skin. After each facial, I noticed a significant improvement in my skin. Not only did my acne significantly improve but my skin started to glow. As well as the redness on my face completely disappearing. Their salt cave is another must try. Walking out of Skin Sense, I always feel refreshed and relaxed. They truly know how to treat clients with care and embrace imperfections. Their ability to transform skincare into a self-love journey is what sets them apart. This spa & shop is a must-visit.
I had a wonderful 80 minute massage by Joi. She is wonderful I truly enjoy my time with her.
Every service with Alyson is 5 stars! I enjoy getting my facials from her. She knows exactly what my skin needs!!
My husband booked the Salt Cave for him and I. The whole purpose of the Salt cave is for health, healing and most of all, RELAXATION. The first young lady that guided us to the Salt Cave was very pleasant with her introduction and provided the benefits and rules of the Salt cave. As she was leaving, she said that if”I see you asleep, I will lightly tap you.” So imagine being in this semi-dark room and letting your body and mind soak in this experience of complete relaxation for 45 minutes, and then BAM! someone comes in and says in a LOUD unpleasant voice “ HOW WAS EVERYTHING?” I have never experienced my heart jump out of my chest and ALL my relaxation went to fear. From my many experiences with going to SPAS, the purpose is to have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. My experience went from a great feeling to horrible one. I will never return to this establishment.
So I booked my services online with Skin Sense for 12/23/23. Terrible choice. Why, because the service I booked said Body Works, which took you to a list of massages, so I thought I was getting a massage. However, it turned out to be a body treatment that included: brushing and wrapping of the skin, a chocolate mask, and peppermint lotion which I thought was in addition to the massage. The worst treatment I’ve ever received, due to receiving something different than what I booked.Upon arrival after changing into my robe and slippers, I was placed in the Relaxation Lounge. After sitting there a young lady who I will not name came for me and I gave her the massage intake form. We went to the room and I was asked to lay on the massage bed, for me everything sounds like I’m headed for a massage. Well into the service, while the technician is applying elements, I say, when will you massage? Mainly, because she’a taking an awfully long time applying potion (but this a holiday service of peppermint truffle). She said, oh, I’m not going to give you a massage, I’m an esthetician. I said, huh? She said, I’m sorry for the confusion, I could hear your disheartening. I said, uh… still stunted. She said, well I know I would be disheartened if I thought I was getting a massage and that’s not what I’m getting. I asked her just before washing the elements off if she could ask for a person to massage me when the peppermint lotion is applied because thats what I came for (over an hour travel). So, she came back in and said, unfortunately all the massage techs. are booked for the rest of today and tomorrow. But, you can talk to our office manager when he comes in at 11:00 to see what can be done. I was livid but did not want to take it out on the tech., besides my body was full of concoctions. The technician continued apologizing and said, I can see how it can be misleading on the website. I said, yes, (the website has it listed as body works listed as if it is a massage). She said, I can see how that can be confusing. She then tried to comfort me by putting an eye mask with light on my eyes and jokes about doing a little massage-y.When I was done, I went to the front desk and saw the front desk personnel. He asked how the service was, I said um, I’m sure you’ve already heard that I’m not satisfied with the service and I began to share my experience. He said, yea, but you got the service. I said, no I did not get the service I thought I was getting. He said that it wasnt Skin Senses mistake of me not understanding the service. I told him that it was misleading online. He said he didn’t think so. I said, I’m telling you as someone that read the services it’s misleading under Body Works. He went on to say, if you had called and booked with a person, we would have told you that your service did not include a massage, but since you did it online we can’t help that you didn’t know. Meanwhile, I’m thinking to myself, if you would tell a person that calls, no massage is included, why wouldn’t you tell a person that comes in, or better yet, when I gave the technician the massage in-take form, why didn’t she say, you are not getting a massage. At any rate, the front desk personnel and I went back and forth. I said to him, is there no resolution? He was adamant that he couldn’t do anything. I asked him for the person over him, which he refused at first to give. Only by replying with, she’s going to tell you the same thing. I had to ask, how does one submit a complaint? What do you all do for people that are not satisfied? Can you offer a discount. He said, well I can do 10% for your next visit I said, I don’t want to come here anymore. He replied, thats fine. Well, needless to say our experience did not end well.In order to come up with a resolution, I emailed the name and email he gave me and in that email, I said, I would wait to post a review after hearing from their office. Well to date, I have not heard from anyone. Instead they have continued trying to debit my card! I’m only giving a 1 star because a 0 is not available!
I am on a 6 month trial here and I really want to love this place. One of my massages was only 40 minutes not 50. We started at 610pm and ended at 650pm and wasnt very good. The facial I got was the harshest facial I ever received, the esthetician was very rough. I am really hoping future appointments are better, or after 6 months I may find a new place. I was given the 4 passes to give people for membership pricing and inadvertently lost them, the staff would not replace them. My husband never got his when he signed up and was unable to get his after either.Update: the manager contacted me and took care of all of my issues. Very grateful for the contact and the continued focus on customer service.
The salt spa was peaceful bit it seemed as if they did not have enough staff. We were unable to get a massage but over 1/2 the massage rooms were empty. It was my 1st experience in a salt cave. It was a relaxing but would have been more enjoyable pre or post massage. They had a nice locker room and shower with all the amenities for showering post massage. It included blow dryer, curling iron, Q-tips, mouthwash and more. The building was nicely maintained.
Wonderful experience from beginning to end. And perfect deep tissue massage by David. Just what this tired body needed! I’m
The atmosphere was welcoming, relaxing and peaceful. I left feeling renewed and recharged. I highly recommend this spa.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming! I love the full body massage! The salt room is amazing!I also love that they have a sauna and the ability to shower after the sessions.Skin Sense Spa is a must!!
Overwhelmingly busy. The locker room has no space to change or even move when more than 5 people are in there (there were about 10 when we arrived). Then, we had to wait in the small hallway in robes because the lounge didnt have a single chair available, which was super uncomfortable because we were in the way of others, but didn’t know what else to do. The muditation room was great (would give that a 4), but unfortunately our relaxation experience was interrupted due to so many people in the spa at the same time. They clearly overbook and should consider this if they want to make this a relaxing experience. As much as I liked the muditation and salt cave, I would not go back.
Mera was great! She really worked out a bad knot in my neck. I would request her in the future.
We very much enjoyed our time in the salt room at Skin Sense. The spa is clean and the staff is friendly. They give you these slightly weighted cooling eye masks that are wonderful. The one thing I would love changed is the water feature in the salt room, it is too loud and distracting and keeps you from truly relaxing. Also, I would recommend true meditation music instead of what you had playing in order to really set the mood.
I did the yoga gentle flow and pranayama class, My instructor was Stephanie, she was so informative and clear - she did a wonderful job with the class. It was my first time trying and she made me feel so comfortable and was so kind to me and everyone else. Highly recommend :)
I made a last-minute reservation for a facial hoping to address some inflammation. Rachel was my Aesthetician and she did fabulous job. I appreciate her explanation of what may be causing the issue. Honestly, I fell in love with her hands! I felt loved (and I don’t know her)! Worth every penny!
My experience with Alyson is always pleasant. Very sweet and always make me feel comfortable
My group of 9 has an awesome time at Skin Sense today in the salt cave. The environment and staff were inviting and pleasant. We look forward to future visits, and adding additional services next time.
I love this spa and really enjoy the himalayan salt spa. Everyone is so nice and helpful. You will be completely relaxed and rejuvenated once you leave.
I love Skin Sense! This is my quarterly treat! Every treatment I have had has left me glowing. The estheticians are knowledgeable and kind. The facility is clean and relaxing.
I am a member so I can get a monthly massage. I always have a good experience. I love taking himalayan salt cave naps...amAzing ambiance. Yesterday, receiving a touch of stone full body massage for the first time, and I feel like a new woman. This is part of the monthly massage routine I kept promising myself for years, and Gavven gets it right EVERY time. I have to peeeeel myself off of the massage table.
Check in was very welcoming, check out was the complete opposite. The rooms are outdated and need to be upgraded. You can hear the other parties/employees laughing and holding conversations between rooms. Not worth the price of admission.
I’ve been going to Skin Sense for a while now and every visit gets better and better. Today I received a deep tissue massage and foot peel with Samantha and it was the best massage I’ve ever had. Her attention to detail and precision was something out of this world!!! She also was very pleasant to talk to. I highly recommend her and this spa.
I was really impressed at my experience today with Skin Sense. The ombience there was comfortable, relaxed, and made you feel on cloud 9. From to top to finish I enjoyed myself. Preston my masseur, was very professional and made me feel relaxed. He was also very knowledgeable about what I could work on to relief my pressure points. I will be returning, and recommend anyone to stop by here. Definitely worth the time! Thanks
I have been having significant shoulder and lower back pain and thought a massage might help. Hannah did an amazing deep tissue massage of the problem areas. Her skill level in finding the trigger points and applying the right amounts of pressure , stretching and manipulation was more like a combined massage-physical therapy session-sports medicine workout and chiropractic session all in one. I have had many massages in the past but this was by far the best and left me feeling 100% better. I highly recommend Skin Sense and in particular Hannah!
Update April 2024: I love Skin Sense, and it pains me to write this, but my most recent visit was disappointing. I wanted to try something different so I got the Hydrafacial - Hydrasculpt Hydrating Facial w/ Décolleté Massage. This was not worth $250. I understand it can serve as a preventative treatment and one has to commit to consistently getting treatments, but I was not impressed. This is no slight to the therapist who worked on me, I just didn’t care for this treatment and can’t help but feel this was a waste of time and money. I’ve given it a few days and I’m just not happy. After the treatment there was this strange feeling to my face and people were staring at me because of the shininess of my face. I’m going to stick with bodywork’s and muditation going forward.I did the muditation treatment. It was amazing. Given we’re in the midst of the Pandemic, I was a little anxious to go to the spa, but I needed some R&R. After researching the website I was put at easy. The staff was very friendly and professional. Skin Sense does an amazing job of ensuring guests safety. The sauna is currently closed but I was able to use their other amenities. This is my second time doing the muditation. It’s a great value. 45 minutes of peace and relaxation. I would highly recommend this. I love that I had the room all to myself. They provide clay, a brush to apply and an exfoliating glove. There’s a shower in the room along with a heat lamp. They provide you with everything you need. Great for a solo session or even for couples.
WHY does a day at this Spa have to be so stressful!I have been here many times but the past couple have been stressfulDuring my facial, the girl was having a constant sales pitch about their products…After being told I wasnt interested in any products, my facial was put into high gear and she had me out of there before my paid for time was up…..I contacted management and basically she didn’t care……Stop with the sales pitches during treatment…If you do a good enough job the results will speak for themselves and then maybe you could get some salesPeople pay ALOT of money for these services Please allow us to relax and enjoy them without the stressIf we don’t initiate the conversation about products then don’t
I was very disappointed my last time here. I scheduled a chemical peel. The esthetician and I discussed it once I arrived and she said with my skin I was a great candidate. She then. Cleansed my face and did about 2 swipes with the peel solution. I immediately had a reaction and she had to continuously neutralize it for a few ministers til the burning went away. When I went to check out, I still had to pay for the service eve though I was unable to get the chemical peel done.I honestly couldn’t believe it. I have not been back.
Ive have been getting massages for decades and in my opinion this is the one and only spa to go to! I am always pleased with the results but I have to say, in all my years of getting massages (including overseas and on cruise ships) Hannahs yesterday was the absolute best ever! Do not lose her!!
My school and I visited this place about 3 weeks ago on a field trip. This place is absolutely amazing from the tour we received. Angela greeted us and told us about the foundation of the company and answered every question we had beautifully. The salt cave and many spa amenities were amazingly therapeutic, you can tell when a business has really put in the effort to make it successful & most importantly relaxing. We ended our tour with Judy and she was wonderful as well and answered our closing questions. please book your next visit here if you’re thinking about it! I would love to continue my learning esthetics career here if granted the chance!
Even though I was there for a waxing, treatment was great. Chelsea was like a hair removing ninja and patient. Place is clean and very beautiful. In addition they have some goodies there you can buy.
If you have never pampered yourself and experienced the ultimate in skin care and relaxation you have missed out. 2 weeks later my skin is still remarkably clear, tight and more youthful. Fine lines around the eyes and mouth disappeared. I have also enjoyed the salt cave several times. Staff are knowledgeable, professional and very friendly. I would highly recommend Skin Sense Day Spa to family, friends, and the community!
I am so very upset with the experience I had today with Skin Sense Spa. I have a child with special needs, an emergency occurred, and I called to reschedule an appointment. I was calling 23 hours before my appointment and the manager was incredibly cold and lacked any sense of compassion. I missed the 24 hour window by one hour and explained the situation with my child. The managers lack of empathy was unsettling. When I asked to speak with someone else, she told me there was no one else. Any parent of a special needs child will tell you how rare it is we pamper ourselves. Before I even ended the call the manger charged my card. I cant afford to pay for an appointment I am not going to, and I had a gift card I planned on using. I am very disappointed, any organization who is unwilling to support a parent of a special needs child, is not an organization I wish to give my money to. I expected so much better from this organization.
I love everything from the retail space to the salt cave to the massage rooms. The staff is amazing and attentive!
Enjoyed a salt cave experience. We booked the room for a work event, 45 min of unplugged quiet. Most took a short nap. Staff friendly and helpful. Had a room where you could unwind before and rehydrate after the session.
I wish I had been more thorough with my research before using this spa. All the complaints are the same. I booked my services 3 months out and last week ended up being called out of town. Their policy is you must reschedule 24 hours in advance but they do not text you a reminder until it is already past that point. I gave them 18 hours notice to reschedule and they charged me full price. I am certain they rebooked the appointment and made double the money on the timeslot. Meanwhile they called me last month and asked me to move to accommodate their schedule and I did it even though I did not want to. They do not care about their customers only their business practices.
I had a facial with Rachel and it was wonderful! She took her time and made the experience so relaxing. My skin felt renewed. Highly recommend. The facility was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful clean establishment. Friendly staff.Gift shop area requires TONS of self-control. There are so many opportunities to assist in an individuals well-being.The reasons for giving four (4) stars...NO SALT GENERATOR!!!! My spouse, son and I attend salt rooms/caves on a regular basis. This is the first time we have visited a salt cave/room without it having a generator. Sincerely, had we known there was no salt generator, we would have reconsidered. Thanks to the staff for allowing us to have a double session. The results were not the same just reclining in the room. I usually blow my nose for hours after completion of a session and this double session did not make that happen. Plus, COVID has not disappeared, there were seven (7) of us in the room. After the session was underway, one person left the room and did not return. We did not find the music to be calming, it was too upbeat and it was too loud. We requested the volume to be lowered and it was. I have several suggestions: Have complimentary water or let the customers know they should drink water after the session.Change the music for a more relaxing atmosphere.Thank You!
Deirdre was amazing! Massage for days. Id come back every time for her.
I was referred here by a friend when I first relocated to Raleigh. I have been doing monthly facial treatments for over a decade to keep my skin healthy and address hyperpigmentation issues. I have been to a few skin spas in a few different states (I move thanks to job), and this was a ONE AND DONE for me. Like I said, I was new to town when I booked the first appointment, and my boss rescheduled a meeting for around the same time. They dont care if you are dying--you either make your appointment or pay to have someone else sit in your spot (who will also pay for their service, so they literally make double the money for half the work). So, I ended up telling my JOB I couldnt make it so I didnt waste $200+. I was a little late because I got lost (again tried to explain I was brand new and even showed my out of state ID). They did not care and proceeded to give me the worst microderm I have ever received and did not even try to make up for the ten minutes lost. She like barely touched my skin, even tho I made it clear I have had many of these over the years. Then upsold me on a treatment that I could have done at home at the very end (they literally used the same LED machine I have at home. I thought theirs would be medical grade...) I was sooooo underwhelmed and their lack of propriety made it worse. I left there looking no better and feeling duped.I found another spa the next month that actually offered more advanced treatments for better prices in the Raleigh area. Check out Salt facials if you struggle from hyperpigmentation or like a good exfoliation treatment. This skin care clinic is out of date and out another customer (who again, gets monthly treatments and spends good coin on good care).
Wonderful experience! The Salt Cave was so relaxing and rejuvenating. The whole spa space is beautiful, smells wonderful and love the Russian Tea in the relaxing waiting area - really added to our lovely experience.
If I could give zero stars I would!!!! I have been looking forward to my appointment for two months.. I am a busy mom of 3 young kids and I really needed this massage!! I woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning and let them know right away before my appointment because I was so sick. They called back and said they charged me full price and cannot work with me or reschedule!! I called them crying in the middle of vomiting telling them I would get them a doctors note anything to get my money back so I can get it another day when I feel better and they refused to work with me at all! I understand policies but there should be exceptions for emergencies especially with a doctors note!! I have never ever heard of or dealt with a business that would ever do this and wouldn’t work with me! I have never missed one before or ever been late! This is craziness!! Do not go to a business that has zero care for you as a client!!! It just shows they care only about money and not about you!! I will never go again and they will never get another penny from me!!
My daughter treated my twin sister and I to a salt treatment for our birthday. We had come from MD to celebrate our birthday here. We arrived early and relaxed in the relaxation lounge. OMG! The ambiance, scents and atmosphere was so relaxing. They offered hot tea and chilled cucumber water just added another delicious layer to the relaxation. The salt cave was the icing on the cake. The anti gravity chairs, eye packs, dimmed lights and water fountain was sooo relaxing. The salt on the floor and walls was so beneficial to our health. Read the benefits of Himalayan salt when you have time. The staff was so friendly, personable and professional. When we return to NC again we will make this a priority.
I do not like giving bad reviews, however, my recent visit was not that great considering the $600 spent. I took advantage of a couples package that included muditation, couples massage and salt cave with added scalp massage. We arrived, changed and we’re shown to the relaxation room. We sat there for 30 minutes until I went to the front desk to find out why the delay. Seems they forgot about us. Anyway, muditation was interesting - in a good way. From there we went for our massages. I’ve had a lot of them in my life and was surprised at the technique used. Felt really out of balance to only have one side of my back massaged at a time. Likely because of our late start, we had to wait in the lounge ~ 30 minutes until top of the hour for the salt cave. We each got 10 minute scalp (?) massage that costs $20 each. My husband is bald so this should have been straight forward for him. I have hair but even so, I’ve had scalp massages before that were very relaxing. What this lady did was move my hair in circles for 10 minutes leaving me with tangles!I will not be going back. Seems like a training ground for less-experienced therapists when it should be the elite, considering those prices! My husband has nothing to compare his experience to since it was his first spa experience but as he said, “it can only get better.”
Love this place ! the atmosphere, the salt cave, and massage therapist Samantha is amazing. Very detailed to my problem areas. I left feeling refreshed and tension free! Ask for Samantha if you can, you will not regret visiting !
Worst experience ever. I called within 23 hours to cancel because my daughter and myself got the stomach bug and were throwing up. Instead of being understanding in the slightest- all they kept saying was that they were charging my card for the services regardless if I came in or not. I had a Groupon for the salt cave and got charged for my facial as well as the FULL amount for the salt cave. Stay away from this place. They clearly don’t care about customer service - the only thing that matters to them is money.
Love the peaceful and quiet atmosphere here. Definitely helped me to de-stress and relax. The salt cave was amazing. My facial was very relaxing and my aesthetician was very knowledgeable and explained every treatment she was applying and why it was beneficial for my skin. Love this place and will be making it my regular stop for skincare and relaxation!
The salt cave was such a cool experience!! What a perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of life and have the opportunity to shut your mind off for pure relaxation and silence for 45 minutes. Rachel gave me the most luxurious facial afterwards! Will definitely be back to try out some of their other treatments from their EXTENSIVE menu!!
Great service during my 2 hour treatment of the CBD Massage from Samantha (she’s awesome) and the salt bath. Top rate place that is all about the customer. I appreciated the men’s locker room with all the amenities including a steam room! Rachel was so helpful to me and I was not even her customer! Savannah at the front desk greeted me with smiles! Great experience. I will go back!
I want to take a moment to share how this spa took what was a day we were looking forward to and turned it in the exact opposite.Im also going to start this out by saying, It was my fault that I wrote down the wrong time for our appointment. So, I played a role in this. But if you want to understand how this spa handles misunderstandings with customers who have been there before, read on.I received a call at 3:15 PM from a young lady who said, Should we still expect to see you today? Surprised, I paused and said, Of course, 5:00, were still planning on being there. she followed that by saying, Im sorry, we were expecting you at 3:00. She put me on hold, while she took a minute to see if there had been a scheduling error. When she came back, she apologized and said that due to the misunderstanding she went ahead and looked at two other dates July 5th, and July 12th, for us to reschedule. We were pretty upset at the time, and driving, and decided we would call back to reschedule.Of importance, I also told her we could come right now. She said, we would only get about 45 min of the treatment, but she would rather schedule us for the whole treatment. Not to worry.Around 4:45, the same day, the spa called us back to inform us they were going to charge the full amount of the visit, $304, to the card on file. Further, that the Director and Owner of the spa had said Go back, and listen to the call recording, to see whose fault it was.Apparently, it was my fault and I learned this at this point. This was a rescheduled appointment, from a previous 5:00 appointment, but I took it down incorrectly and thought we had held the same time.I completely understand making mistakes, and I own that. But the way this Spa handles it should be known.Foremost;1. They gave me the option to rebook on the first call. If I had rebooked my time on the phone with them earlier, theres a good chance none of this would have happened. But because I did not, clearly, that upset the owners. Rebooking was not an option when they called me at 4:45, telling me I was responsible for the full balance today.2. They took the time to go back and listen to a phone conversation recording weeks ago but didnt take the time to listen to the call that day, and listen to see if it sounded like there was a legitimate misunderstanding. They didnt care about the misunderstand, or that we were equally as upset about not enjoying a couples massage. They cared about money.3. You will be charged 100%. Because we missed the appointment, we paid $304 for nothing. Nothing at all. No $50, $35, 10%, 20%, or fee to cover a mistake. No pro-rated fee like most offices. Full Price. So, be aware if you go to this spa that there is no grace from the owner of this location. No compassion for a mistake. Charging the full fee is more important. As many of you reading this will know, when you have a hard week and you are looking forward to an experience like this, confronting someone with no compassion for their customers is quite unimpressive.**update: Pay close attention to the owners response. They listened to the booking call but not the call the day of the appointment. The owner doesn’t want to acknowledge that her staff told me not to come in, even though I could have had part of my appointment. Instead they told me not to worry, and offered two reschedule dates**
My first visit and was impressed by the friendly staff (who all seemed to be in a good mood and happy to be there), and great facilities. Wish Id arrived earlier so I could have spent more time in the steam room and relaxation lounge. Had a great Clean Sweep with Enzymes facial with Izabella. Ill definitely be going back.
When you go the massage is excellent. The staff is great. However, if you have an emergency and need to cancel the day of don’t bother calling management about it. When I explained the situation the manager was extremely rude and refused to reschedule my appointment and told me I needed to pay for my massage.
My fiancé gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. I booked an appointment to go with my daughter. The day before my appointment I received a call stating that they moved my time so I would have a better experience. I ended up waiting in a room with over 15 other people. My facial was amazing. Then I get taken back to the room to wait longer with more people and am told my salt cave will be free. The whole experience was ruined because we went in mid session and they came and turned the lights on to get the others out. I ended up leaving then because they messed up our time. Then I was still charged for my daughters salt cave. I will not be going back.
It was a great experience from the moment I walked through the front door. The front desk staff was friendly and explained how the process would flow from the locker room to the relaxation room to the actual massage room. My therapist Nikki was absolutely AMAZING!!! She covered all areas that I mentioned and applied the perfect amount of pressure. I will definitely return for a longer session. The facility was clean and all doors/areas were clearly labeled for easy navigation.
I was very excited that I found a day spa close to home and at first it was great. However, after purchasing a massage membership, I have had multiple cancellations and have had to reschedule my appointments. I book ahead due to my hectic schedule and to have my appointments cancelled and no accommodations are made to at least try and work with my schedule, in my opinion is unacceptable. Once, I understand, (things happen) but it has happened more than one time at this point. The space is nice, and the staff is friendly, but I feel customer service, especially for your members, could use some improvement.
First off, the facial treatment was great! However, I am very disappointed that I paid for a 60 minute facial (which is actually 50 minutes after consultation and what not--very familiar and used to this. My facial was only 35 minutes, 40 minutes at best. When booking the appointment, my facial was booked from 10:30-11:30am. The young lady who scheduled my services, said that I would then go to the relaxation room, and wait until 12pm, for my salt cave entry. This all sounded great!! As, I was there for a bit of relaxation and did not mind the wait. However, I came out of my facial at 11:07am, which was surprising to me and ushered into the 11am salt cave time slot. The salt cave was lovely. But I will not return, due to paying for a full facial and I did not receive that.
I was treated like a Nubian Queen. I really needed some self pampering today. I tried their Himalayan Salt cave for the 1st time. The whole room was covered in salt and was at a very comfortable temperature of 74 degrees. They would have gotten a 5 from me if I did not have to leave the cave to go back to the lobby to request that the music in the cave be turned down or preferably off.Once I resettled back into the lounger, I could focus on my meditation and prayers. I actually felt like I was having an out of body experience. In these hectic and stressful times, we all could use a quiet place to decompress and go inward.I am a bargain hunter, so I used Groupon to get this extraordinary experience and have one more session booked this weekend. I live for the quieter moments so I can slow my mind and body down.It was a very blissful experience for a true hedonist. I will be returning again and again, especially if these great services remain top notch. Zoe was a great hostess and I give her a 10+. They have an exceptional and very posh ladies locker room.
Nice atmosphere and relaxing waiting lounge. Facial was so relaxing and replenishing ! My friend had some milia removed 2 months ago from under the eyelid with the lamp probe , it removed them all and hasn’t came back ! My other friend had skin tags removed from the back and amazingly they are gone , as well !I’ll be back for sure for another facial !
Joi B. gives the best massages—and I’ve gotten a lot. Try her out!
I have been to skin sense a few times with my husband for couples massages and they always do an amazing job. I recently called to make an appointment and Ariah helped me work through my schedule so that we could figure out a good day. She was extremely kind and patient and truly went above and beyond to help me. Best customer service I have gotten in a while. She deserves a shout out.
Nyanda and Hasani are great team members and extremely nice! Great information and recommend to all!
Went with my husband today and we had a very relaxing time. staff was professional and friendly. The spa was very clean and well kept. We did the salt cave and mud therapy and loved it. we will be back for more services for sure.
I did enjoy this little spa trip. They have a nice relaxation room, my massage therapist was very deliberate and focused, I felt like she was truly present and not just going through the motions of a massage. The facial was nice, the aesthetician was very knowledgable, gentle, friendly and made me feel comfortable. The salt cove experience was fun, but the room decor looked like they were maybe updating parts of it? It took away from the experience a bit, but not enough for me not to recommend it.
Amazing spa treatments. Plus they have an amazing salt cave.A+Also, they have a wonderful staff !!! I would like to add They have an amazing gift area with some of the best things I have seen !
Had a relaxing nap in the salt cave. It is wonderful, especially because of all the pollen.
A MUST experience! Beyond relaxation, it is transcending.Surely, I will have this experience again and again.Plus, the environment invites peacefulness within. And, the staff are helpful and pleasant.Enjoy🌟🌟
Where do I begin. I’ll start with the positive. The masseuse I ended up with was nice and definitely wanted to provide a pleasant experience. After some intense yard work and a very rough few months I decided last minute to try and see if I could secure a massage. Spa Sense was the only establishment that had availability (maybe that should have been a sign). I hadn’t gone to this spa in a few years but it used to be a very nice experience.I got there 10 minutes in advance. When I got to the relaxation lounge, there wasn’t a single place to sit…I waited in the hall until a seat opened up. As I sat and waited, I couldn’t help but notice how worn the furniture was and how the decor was really outdated. My masseuse came to get me and it was almost 10 minutes past my appointment time. She looked as if she should be lounging on a couch, not at all dressed for work (fine to be comfortable but not to look like you just rolled out of bed). By the time she was ready to get started, it was 15 minutes past my appointment. I asked if she would be extending my time since we were starting so late. She became very defensive and kept mentioning that I booked last minute. I asked if I could have, and pay for, a 30 minute massage. This seemed to undo her a little more. She was extremely unprofessional so I let her know this was not going to work out. When I came out to the front the owner or manager did offer a discount and a new masseuse. I agreed but felt a sense of annoyance from her rather then a true desire to understand so she could improve future experiences. As I walked away the front staff exploded in laughter. The massage was ok, there were some odd things (wrapping my feet in full towels, massaging my ribs, etc). They put a thin piece of material over my eyes (it felt like a tissue), no lavender, silk eye pillow.I’ll leave it there even though I could go on. When you are spending $100, I expect way more. I will absolutely not be back.
I have been to Skin Sense various times. I enjoy the occasional massage and relaxation. I was scheduled for an 80min massage and facial. Unfortunately my masseuse was ill and gave me a 40min massage while leaving the room 5 times. Obviously, not relaxing. I asked her to please stop the massage and reschedule me. On my way out the receptionist required me to pay for at least a 50min massage and said after hearing from her manager they’d get back to me. Nothing. I called them two days later. They said they’d give me back my money and schedule me a new 50 min massage. It was supposed to be 80. They said they’d call me back to let me know if it’d be 50 or 80 minutes. Nothing. Again. At this point I had caught the stomach bug from my masseuse and had to miss work for a day. Nobody is calling me, or making it right. I’m not one to complain, I understand being in the service industry but this is unacceptable and inexcusable that management has not reached out to me once to try to make this right. They seem completely uninterested in their staffs well-being and their costumers satisfaction in their services.
It’s been quite a while since my last visit. Skin Sense did not miss a beat. I received great services from the welcome to the massage to my exit! Not going to wait so long for my next massage!
My fiance and I booked a couples massage in the couples suite with a bath and we also got facials. Our estheticians were great as well as the masseuse. We were very disappointed in the bath as the jets in the tub didnt work nor did the fireplace in the room. Dont waste your money on the hydrotherapy as they dont have functioning equipment for the proper experience. I wish they had informed us of this up front as it seems this has been not working properly for a bit. We didnt get offered robes for our treatments until the last 30 mins even though we had 2.5 hrs of services booked. When we checked out and they asked us how it all was, I informed them that the hydrotherapy was a disappointment due to the tub and fireplace not working. They had an opportunity to try and make it right, but instead said Im sorry about that. We spent $600 and that was the level of customer service we got. Very disappointed as this really overshadowed the full experience. Would most likely not return.
I’ve visited this location a few times. The staff is awesome and very attentive. The facility is always clean and the steam room in the locker room is a nice way to end your visit. Today I worked with Brandy who I’ve deemed the “draping queen.” She listened to me during our quick consultation and did everything I requested and more. She stretched, rubbed, and knocked out every knot in my back. I am extremely satisfied and will be back for more soon. I’ve never considered signing up for a spa membership but today... I did. I plan to join next month. Thanks Brandy! You made my day.
I Wanted to reschedule my appointment scheduled for today at 12. because I am very sick to another day!. I did not want to cancel it. I could not help the fact of that. I did not provide the 24 hrs so they told me they would charge my card on file $25. We went back and forth for a bit. SHE TOLD ME I COULD PROVIDE A COVID TEST!! I NEVER SAID I HAD COVID SYSTEMS..I told the girl that I understand it wasnt her fault but I still feel it was not right. If a person is truly sick, cant make the drive and wanted to r/s...they should have more consideration!! SO THIS WAS MY FIRST APPOINTMENT AND INTERACTION WITH THEM AND I WILL NEVER GO THERE NOR WILL I REFER ANYONE TO THEM!! THEN ON TOP OF EVERYTHING..I RECEIVE AN EMAIL SHORTLY AFTER THE CALL AND THEY CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT AND CHARGED MY CARD FULL FEE OF $175.00 NOT THE $25 ..****.I HAD A GIFT CERTIFICATE TO USE I WAS NOT GOING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET**** THEY MUST BE DESPARATE FOR MONEY AND HAVE NO CLIENTS*** THEY WAY THEY HAVE TREATED ME TODAY I AM NOT SURPRISED!!! BE AWARE!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed my spa day! I had a facial with Alyson and a quick massage with David. They are very professional and knowledgeable. I wish I could visit them every week. I do wish the relaxing room was available but it did not take away from a great experience. The office staff made sure I was comfortable. Thank you!
I love this place for so many reasons. The staff is attentive and professional, and the environment is so peaceful and calm. They are so right when they call it an experience rather. They add all the right touches--from the aromatherapy, to the music, to the lighting- from the beginning. You definitely feel very special and cared for, down to the glass of water they provide at the end of the massage. I cant wait to go again!
I Absolutely enjoyed my entire Spa experience. I loved the people, the atmosphere, the Salt Room and ECHO, my massage therapist was amazing. She was gentle and but effective. I will be back. Thanks you for a wonderful experience.
I love Skin Sense! I signed up for the 6 month membership for $55/mo to get a 50 min full body massage every month. On top of that you get a significant discount on any additional treatments you get. Totally worth it. I was having lower back pain prior to going here. It took a couple of treatments but my back pain is totally gone now. They are very professional and the facility is soothing and relaxing. There is even a steam room that you can use anytime you want as a member, or before or after any treatment you get. Definitely worth giving it a try.
I love this place! I came here yesterday with a group and worked with Ariah to plan it. Her and her team took really great care of us! I love the atmosphere and all of the amenities. Henry was my massage therapist and he was great!!
My mom and I were here this morning for facials and the salt cave to celebrate my birthday. It was an awesome experience! We arrived 15 minutes early just like the email said. The lady up front was great! She was super helpful and so sweet. She really made the experience great! The facials were awesome and the estheticians were knowledgeable!! We definitely will be back. Thanks Skin Sense! All my friends were jealous of the salt cave experience!!!
Deirdre provided one of the best full-body massages I’ve had.
I had the worst experience with Skin Sense. One of the Christmas gifts I was giving was a couple’s massage to Skin Sense. I also purchased a gift card for a value of $150 because of the gift card special, “With your purchase of every $150 gift card, receive a free $25 gift card!” I have yet to receive my $25 gift card and dont think I will ever get it but that is okay because I would never return to a skin sense again. However, this is not the concerning problem, my experience with this company proceeded to get worse. When I called to schedule the massage the automated phone system said “for the Brier Creek location, please press 1; for North Raleigh location, press 2. I pressed “1” for the Brier Creek location. A person came on the phone and assisted me with the reservations, from my knowledge by pressing “1” I thought I was talking to the Brier Creek location. The time was confirmed, but never the location. On the day of the massage we arrived at the Brier Creek location 20 minutes prior to our appointment time to find the location vacant. When I called to inquire about what to do, I was placed on hold for approximately 15 minutes and then hung up on. I called back and was able to speak with a representative and discovered that I was at the wrong location. Even though we were able to get to the Falls of Neuse location and have the massage, the time for the massage ended up being half the time I had originally scheduled and paid for. I understand that increasing my time the day of the massage was not possible because it would have cut into another customers’ time. However, I do feel that I should not have been charged for the full time. Being late we were rushed into the appointment which was not at all a relaxing or how they advertise an enjoyable experience. Had the Skin Sense website been current and accurate OR had there not been a Brier Creek location offered on your company automated phone system, the location miscommunication would not have occurred. As a customer, I had no way of knowing that the Brier Creek location had been closed. Especially since the website and the phone system continue to advertise this location. Nothing on the website indicates that this location is no longer in business. After contacting both the Skin Sense location and the owner, D. Angela Padgett, they did not even have enough respect to respond. This company does not value their customers and it really shows from my experience. I definitely would NOT waste money with this company and will be getting future massages elsewhere.
I absolutely have loved this spa for years. The facilities are top notch and the environment is completely relaxing. An excellent full service salon. However, I do take off one star because they do have a very inflexible cancellation policy. To be clear they state it on the website and they state it on the phone. So Id you think you may not go or need to cancel do so ASAP before 24 hrs!
I had such a lovely experience! They were very diligent about staying safe during the pandemic. They had me wait in my car and brought out the paperwork for me to fill out before my appointment. Everyone was wearing masks and were very kind and helpful. I received a massage with aroma therapy from Debrah and I can’t rave about it enough. She was very professional and relaxing. I told her about my back pains from my job as a waitress and she gave me multiple tips on how to relieve the pain at home. She was very invested in my well-being during the massage as well as outside. I felt like a new person after! I can’t wait to come back.
I am now a former client of Skin Sense. I was getting regularly scheduled massages there about every two to three weeks. I have no issues with the quality of services. Im angry about the 24-hour cancellation policy. I had to cancel the same day as my massage appointment due to food poisoning. No exception was allowed for me under that circumstance, and I was charged $165.00 for the cancellation due to sudden illness. I will NOT be returning nor will I ever recommend Skin Sense. ZERO STARS. One star indicated under protest.
So peaceful. Great clean warm facility. Staff were very friendly. Kevin, my massage therapist, did a great job with the deep tissue massage. I also got a warm pillow and eye pillow filled with lavender beads. So nice :)
I’m really bummed. I was extremely excited for this massage and to get a deep tissue massage in the place I need it. But the person who did the massage did more of a relaxing one. It didn’t help my muscles in my back or neck at all. I was really bummed. Paid $90 for not a good massage.Have had better deep tissue massages before for cheaper. So yes. I’m really bummed. I’m reviewing to let others know.. go if you just want a relaxing massage.
The receptionist was very nice and welcoming. I was running behind so I knew my massage would be cut short which is completely understandable. However the masseuse I received seemed annoyed and they werent very hospitable. The massage was just ok. They asked if I wanted water after the massage was done I said yes but when I came out there wasnt any. I was ushered out after my massage and into the lobby very abruptly. We were behind another customer who had just finished her service as well. That massuese sounded very nice and that customer had a glass of water. She seemed to ask her questions and said it was a pleasure to meet her asked her if there was anything she needed. So it seems like it was just bad luck on my end with the masseuse I received. The facilities seem nice. Unfortunately I dont think Ill be back, there are other options with better masseuses closer to my home.
I booked a massage (80 min) and facial (60 min) for what I thought was 2/17 at 9a and 10:30a. Unfortunately this afternoon after receiving a receipt of charge to my credit card, I realized I missed an appointment and booked for 2/11. I did not receive a reminder nor a call in the 2 1/2 hours that I simply didnt show up for the appointment. I did recognize that the payment was due on date of services performed (which is why I called concerned about my appointment) and I did see that the cancellation policy was 24 hours, but clearly when I thought my appointment was in 6 days, I didnt think to cancel. So now after I missed my appointment I was simply charged. The receptionist only kept repeating according to our cancellation policy... and offered to book me a new appointment (which of course I would again have to pay for). I get having to reserve a person to provide the services, but I had 2 1/2 hour of services, how about a phone call???? Disappointing at best. I will never come to this spa (have never been - this was my first attempt). And I will be sure to share my experience with my friends. I literally feel like I was stolen from. And I have had to try three different browser to even submit this feedback to the leadership of the spa and none of the submit buttons worked. I also tried to find a contact us on the website to no avail. Just terrible customer service.
Recently came to Skin Sense with my mom and a good friend. It was our first experience with Skin Sense and we all agree that the salt cave was an excellent source of relaxation. However, the service provided was not favorable. We weren’t given much direction on what to do, where to put our things or where to find provided socks and sandals. There were a lot of extras and add ons we weren’t offered that we would have been very interested in. Checking out seemed to be a difficult task, as well. Pleasant but not memorable.
I have been a client of Skin Sense for the past 4 years, but opted out of a membership in 2020 due to the pandemic.I, now,, get facials and massages as needed - about once or twice a month.I was considering renewing a membership a couple of months ago, but opted out again. This time due to the new manager who tends to be somewhat overbearing to her staff andcustomers. Maybe its just me, but Im might be looking around for other massage options soon.I do really like the person who gives me facials, but the person who did my deep tissue massages just recently left.
This place is heavenly. The salt cave was surprisingly big and very serene. This is the best kept secret in Raleigh
Relaxing atmosphere. Has relaxation room before massage. Has different massages available. Technicians are awesome. Gives you the pressure you want for your massage. Hot stones relaxes your body
Echo is a wonderful massage therapist. I have had quite a few massages in my life, but she was outstanding! I recommend her highly. All of the staff at skin sense are very professional.
Rachel did a fabulous job of making sure I was comfortable and relaxed. She did a wonderful job of explaining the procedures for my facial and how it would help my overall skin care. Beautiful spa and fantastic service!!
I had a great experience at Skin Sense!! Very relaxing atmosphere and staff was friendly. I went in for a facial and the esthetician, Yedid, was great to work with. She recommended great products for my skincare routine. I highly recommend Skin Sense for facials and other spa needs. Their services are worth the investment.
The BFF and I went yesterday for a couples massage and time in the salt cave. Loved my massage therapist Nicole. She was great! She listened to my requests of focused areas. The salt cave was so relaxing! We both left feeling like noodles! It was fantastic!! Both Nicole and Geanie get two thumbs up!
Everyone was great. A very clean and relaxing atmosphere. Savanna was super nice and always explained everything along the way. Could not have asked for a better experience!
I enjoyed the salt cave and a head to toe treatment during my visit. Everything was very well done , and the changing room and waiting areas were very nice as well.
Thank you Skin Sense for our wonderful bridal spa day! Lauire of Skin Sense was great to work with as we planned our event which included relaxing and rejuvenating massages and time in the sea salt cave. After our treatments, we gathered in one of the private lounges which the staff had set up so we could enjoy the lunch we brought in. This was the perfect start to the hectic wedding week. Again, thank you!
I had a great massage and overall experience! This was my first time here and I look forward to returning! My massage therapist (Adrian or Devin?) was wonderful, very professional and accommodating. I would highly recommend Skin Sense for all your massage needs!
No salt in the air. My lips and skin had no salt residue. Very disappointed! Water feature in room was broken. Music was choppy. First and last time I will visit this salt cave. Halo salt lounge in Cary is the best. Don’t waste your money at skin sense!
Stunning spa with amazingly affordable pricing. The membership makes the services even less than youd pay at a massage envy but you get so much more. The steam room, the fluffy robe, a warm neck pillow to enjoy while you sip hot spiced tea and kick back in the relaxation lounge. This is heaven. Not to mention the quality of the therapists is so much better than what you find at these massage clinics.
I never leave reviews but my experience was extremely disappointing and pretty much ruined what should have been a very much needed treat to myself.I was booked for a thirty minute facial and a thirty minute massage.I arrived on time and waited about ten minutes before someone showed me to the changing area.My facial started it was very basic but I didn’t expect much for 30 minutes so it was ok. I did like the esthetician’s personality and demeanor. When it was time for the massage the professionalism went completely out of the window. I was told we only had five minutes and “we close at six so there’s nothing I can do”I decided to change and check out. When I approached the front desk about my experience it was completely dismissed saying oh your facial took too long she went over her time so sorry there wasn’t time for your massage”. She wouldn’t even look me in the eye.Mind you I waited another 10 minutes waiting to check out because there was only one receptionist and she was dealing with another unhappy customer who was also disappointed and misled while booking his appointment:I will definitely not be back and will gladly take my business elsewhere as there are many other options in the area with better customer service and professionalism.
I came here on a birthday Groupon for the salt cave. When I arrived, I understood why this spa is one of the top spas in the triangle. Friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled staff mixed with glowing ambience make this place one of my favorites to unwind. The salt cave was very relaxing and releasing, and I took the best nap Ive had since childhood, Im sure of it. I finished that session off with 15 minutes in the eucalyptus steam sauna and the rejuvenation was real. Call today and do the couples mud bath too, thats next on my list.
Alyson is always the absolute best! For a wax or a facial, she is friendly and professional. She is quick when you need her to be (wax!) and takes her time when you have questions (facial!) Everyone who works here is knowledgeable and very nice and it is a great experience. They are taking covid precautions seriously and I appreciate that, too. Highly recommend you book whatever you’re looking at, and ask for Alyson. My pores have never felt so clean!!
Great SPA one of the best ive been to. It was very relaxing and staff was amazing!! Only thing that was disappointing was how our schedule was set up when booked, we got pedis first and then 80 min massages but staff pulled us too early and nail polish did not have time to dry and got messed up when on massage table. Understand they have tight schedule to stick too, but i would have rathered cut massage short 5 min as next day had to get polish change at quick nail salon and was flying out of state the next day. The Salt Cave was great make sure to put lip balm on before you go in.
We went to the Salt Cave for the first time for my nieces birthday and we loved it. I had no idea I could relax and fall asleep that fast! It was a fun time! The staff was very pleasant! We will go back for other services!
I am absolutely furious at the fact that this facility would not offer common decency and compassion for a situation that was meant to be a beautiful birthday experience but turned into a medical emergency! Today is my mother’s birthday and I planned a massage for us both and was thinking about adding a pedicure as well since she mentioned she wanted one. Well, my mother split a tooth today and had to have emergency dental surgery to extract the tooth. Needless to say, she is in a lot of pain (she’s 72) and we cannot make our appointment today. I called the spa and explained the situation and stated I want to reschedule. I understand they have a 24-hour cancellation policy but this was unavoidable. I offered to bring by a copy of the dental bill as proof of the emergency as well. Do you know what I was told? There is no exceptions they were willing to make to avoid me being charged almost $200 because I didn’t cancel 24hrs in advance!! How the heck could I have known my mom would have a medical emergency 24hrs before it happened?!! And don’t tell me that there is not an exception that someone could make?! They wouldn’t even grant me my request to speak to someone else to see if it was a possibility either. And I was going to reschedule, not just cancel. Ms Angela Padgett, I cannot believe that this is how you run your business. This is appalling! Please join me in finding somewhere else to patronize!
We had a couples massage for our anniversary. We didn’t get notice of our appointment needing to be canceled until 4:00 PM the day of. Really sucks , glad we were able to find a spa to fit us in last minute or our night would’ve definitely would’ve been ruined. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
SAVE YOUR MONEY. My husband and I booked a deep tissue massage. It was the furthest thing from a deep tissue. The pressure was more of a tickle the entire massage. My husband verified his was the same way. I asked my massage therapist for harder pressure in which she said okay and the proceeded with the same pressure she had been doing from the start. I dont write reviews but if youre looking for a deep tissue- look elsewhere.
When I called to schedule our appt it was specifically for a couples massage. When we were in the waiting area, my boyfriend was called back. Then a couple was called back. I waited a few minutes and had to walk to the front desk to ask for couple massages if both people are suppose to be called back at the same time, the lady responded typically yes then informed me that we would not be getting a couples massage today and refused for me to speak with my boyfriend to see if he was okay proceeding forward (this was his first time getting a massage and I reassured him we would be together for him to be more comfortable). They failed to even give us a heads up and communicate with us for any changes beforehand. During my massage, the therapist was shaking very bad. I did not get offered different oils, etc. My boyfriend was offered different oils and had different services offered for his appt. I was very frustrated and they only gave us a $25 discount total and stated we will make this right for you next time. ... there will not be a next time at this place. I will go somewhere else due to lack of professionalism. They shouldve made it right the first time and it seemed like they just wanted to get people in the door for their money vs quality care.
I bought a Groupon for this vendor. On the Groupon site, it says cancellation fee may not exceed Groupon value. So why does the Merchant require a credit card on file? They say for cancellation but you dont need it for cancellation if the cancellation fee is not greater than the Groupon value. Sounds like the merchants trying to pull a fast one to get extra money. Furthermore , Groupon should require the merchant to include this in the fine print but they dont.No longer using Groupon!
I have been to this location so many times and each time the experience is memorable. I love the staff. And even though the faces change, the service remains stellar. The ambiance is only relaxing. This visit I tried the Salt Cave. Its different and relaxing and I loved it! Skin Sense is an old time favorite!
Ill never go back, after 20+ years. My husband has been buying me GC for Skin Sense for Christmas since my son was born 23 yrs. ago. My daughter had her first teen spa experience here. My adult children and I shared a salt cave visit. Even tho we are separated, my husband still bought a GC this past Xmas. I work in a hospital and had made an appointment for a bit of pampering 9/21. I got called into work and left a message to cancel appt. Next day a charge for the visit shows up on my CCard. I called and was told the owner has a very strict cancellation policy, which Ive never been told before. I explained my getting called into work and was told the owner would be told and get back me. After 3 more calls, no response from owner or manager. I know Im not a $1,000 a month customer, but an acknowledgement, call, some follow up, would have been the right thing to do. So I went in, spent my GC (which was zero due to charging my CC) on Eminence products, which btw are superb, and I will not return. You lost a loyal customer. .
I went to spa for salt cave where I had two visits or could bring a guest. My guest a few days ahead said she couldnt go, so I went by myself. They marked Groupon redeemed online, so when I called to schedule second visit I got a rude girl who said it was redeemed. I explained to her that I went by myself with no guest, so I should have one visit left, but she would not listen. This has been some time ago, but just thinking how I paid for two sessions, and only got one has rubbed me the wrong way enough to rate this establishment. I loved the cave the day I went, and the girl was so nice that showed me in, but cheating me out of a service that I paid for trumps that.
I would not recommend this for anyone wanting to visit the salt cave. Even from letting the receptionist know we had arrived it wasnt a nice experience. It sure did have the spa smell but that was about it. It wasnt relaxing and the staff seemed less than happy to talk to us about the experience we were about to have. The zero gravity chairs in the cave didnt work. So the creek from someone elses chair the whole 45 minutes was enough to drive anyone crazy !!! At check out we waited over 15 minutes to be cashed out . Only with the help from a manager could the details on my account be found. We mentioned the zero gravity chairs and creeking the whole 45mins . We were not offered any compensation or anything. I feel its not the best place to go if you want professional spa like treatment.
My daughter and I enjoyed really enjoyed our facials. Paula was very thorough and did a great job. My daughter looked radiant after her facial. I hate the new Covid restrictions but completely understand and felt safe while there. The environment is very relaxing but could use some updated paint/decor.
My best friend of 30 years and I spent her bday here and it was amazing. The tech that performed my facial was professional, pleasant and SO good at her job. Then there are the salt caves... who knew this would be the best thing ever. Laying back in the gravity chairs, surrounded by pink Himalayan salt, in a darkened cave listening to soothing music and a water fall took us both way away.I cant recommend this place enough
If you need therapeutic deep tissue massage, Gavenn is the masseuse for you! Hes a natural healer and finds the tough spots instinctively. He also does relaxing massages. I highly recommend him.Because of him and the front desk team and manager, I love this place! Its a relaxing place.
The spa has a beautiful atmosphere. The ladies were all friendly and warm. And Chelsea gave me an amazing hydro facial!! My skin looks and feels beautiful!! She is a warm, healing, and very thoughtful esthetician!!
Staff were friendly, professional and able to answer our questions about the Salt Cave. I much enjoy meditation in general and there was something inexplicable in the way being in the cave drew me down into a deep time of contemplation. The 45 minutes went by quickly. Very interesting experience. I’m glad i went.
Was expecting a relaxing and sensational couples massage with an additional paid add on of a deep tissue massage. We were very disappointed of the service rendered, both massage therapist seemed unqualified and not knowledgeable of the target areas requested. Our needs were not met! Its only fair to offer a 100% refund
Relaxing and peaceful. Staff were friendly and helpful.
This is a wonderful spa. My mother and I booked this last minute, and we had the greatest experience. My aesthetician was Yded(sorry for misspelling) and she was fantastic. We will definitely visit during our next trip to Raleigh.
I went to this spa the week of my wedding to get a facial. The staff was very welcoming and informative. I worked with Isabella. She was great! It was my first facial so I had a ton of questions. She answered all of my questions and walked me through everything she was doing and why she did it. It was really relaxing!
I went to Skin Sense for a facial and it was a very enjoyable experience. I was given a comfortable robe, slippers, and hot tea, which made the facial more of a spa experience, as opposed to a mere facial treatment. My esthetician was very friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all of my skin questions and even recommended products for my skin type. The facial itself was incredibly relaxing and worthwhile. I highly recommend visiting Skin Sense!
Though they added on a service to my facial that I didnt schedule (decolletage something -- cost $60), my esthetician, Chelsea, did a wonderful job. In the end, they didnt charge me for the service that I didnt schedule (and didnt even know existed). Be sure to confirm your service in advance of the facial. Also note, monthly facial special does not qualify for Facial Friday discount -- fair enough, since monthly facial is discounted; I just didnt know. I have been going to this spa off and on for 15 years and the facials are usually very good -- Chelesa was exceptional.
4/26/2022: massage appointment for my daughter. daughter arrived ready for massage. Masseuse never showed.5/03/22: massage appointment for my wife. wife arrived ready for massage. Masseuse never showed.2 masseuse no shows within a week extremely unprofessional.New ownership and/or management required.
My family and i had a girls day for my sisters birthday here today and when we first arrived most of the workers were outside smoking. we go inside and the workers were just standing there like we hadn’t walked in. i had asked to use the bathroom before we went into the salt cave 3 times and was told we’d stop on our way to the cave and we didn’t, and then once we got to door of the cave i asked the lady who escorted us to the cave if she could show me where the bathroom is and she acted as if it was the absolute worst thing anyone has ever asked her to do. this was very a very nice salt cave but when the time was up they just flipped the lights back on with no warning what so ever. we weren’t even asked how our experience was, and were told not to touch the tester products. on the phone when we scheduled the appointment we booked scalp massages as well, and when we got there we asked about them and it was excused off like we didn’t ask. i will definitely not be returning to this spa. mrs. angela padgett i cannot believe this is how you run your business.
A friend and I relaxed in the salt cave it was fabulous. I had never done a salt cave before and I had never been to the day spa before. I would go back for sure. The only down side was we were not able to get into robes due to Covid. Also we were not offered waters like the ladies that did the cave before us were.
Deborah Mack is a wonderful massage therapist, one of the best Ive ever had, yay Skin Sense Day Spa, lovely place, I will be back.
This review is JUST about Skin Sense Salt Cave NOT ABOUT ANY other services. My experience with the staff and facility were great. The issue is with the Salt Cave.If you want true benefits of a salt cave this is not for you.As a severe allergy sufferer I have been to a 6-7 different Salt Caves/Rooms and they have been helpful. All of these places were covered floor to ceiling salt and had a halogenerator to pump fine salt particles in the air of the room. Without this machine there is little to no benefit of the caves/rooms. The issue with Skin Sense Salt Cave is they do not have a halogenerator. While they have an aesthetically pleasing and relaxing salt cave. All you are paying for is to just go sit in a room with salt on the floor and walls.
For my birthday my mother booked for 4 of us to sit in the salt cave. On arrival about 4 employees were gathered outside smoking...we were then escorted into a room to put socks and slippers on. We asked to use the restroom and they said they would escort us on the way to the salt cave. . 15 minutes pass and had to really use the bathroom ..So I asked again...and was told the same. I would be escorted on the way to the cave. .Another 10 mins go by. ..they get us to go to the salt cave and did not escort us to the bathroom. ..i had to ask again for a 3rd time!!! The salt cave was relaxing but when it was over. ..No one asked about our experience and when looking at the their products ..No one tried to explain or sell any products. Will never go back again.. Very poor service .. .Needs new staff
I attempted to the leave the review on the email that was sent after my visit - but both times this year that I got it, the link wont accept the review, so Ill post here.Tifnie, my massage therapist, was amazing. She applied the perfect pressure and really helped with the ache and pains post race. She never pushed or pressured me into getting add ons or extras, which Skin Sense used to be really bad about. The front staff was very friendly as well.It did suck that the steam room was out of service, which I enjoy utilizing when I do get the rare chance to treat myself. My only 2 complaints, which I have voiced my concern a few times now:1.) Noise. The massage rooms are not sound proof, and with that being known, staff and/or others do not pay attention to it. It sounded like my room was right near a socializing area for staff and a possibly washing machine/dryer. Yes, the music tunes some of the noise out but when you are paying good money to relax and then hear employees have their own personal conversation, buckets or supplies being taken out of a closet, or the machines being started, it kills the relaxation some.2.) Lounge. Not enough seating. Yall used to have these round, rocking type chairs that very were comfortable & you could fit a lot more in there. Those lounge chairs are nice but take up too much room. So, the ones that are there in their robes, have had to stand and/or sit in a regular wood chair while people getting a wax or any other service you keep your regular clothes on for, get the comfier chairs. It would be nice to have more seating and maybe a separate room for the ones that remained dressed and not in robes.
Poor management - last minute cancellation when I showed up. Director rude to customer on phone while I was in line. Did not add any discount or attempt to rectify the situation.
The rooms looked immaculately clean. I was in the salt cave for 45 minutes. They put a warm pack over your eyes. It felt nice. The problem with the salt cave was first they said they would be back to the waiting area at 4pm, by 4:10pm my sister went looking for someone and they came. No apology or explaination as to why they were late. (Ironically if you look at other reviews, if the client is late they have been locked out and not allowed to reschedule losing their money.) The group which was leaving took off socks and left them in the waiting area. We were not provided with socks or any foot wear. The salt pebbles were uncomfortable to walk on barefoot and deep. It was difficult to get traction. The chair provided would not stay in a semi reclining position, it kept going back into a sitting position so I ended up with my head down and my feet elevated, an uncomfortable position. (I am a big lady, wear 3X). I also received a facial by Isabelle. Well done except she massaged my port. I told her I just finished chemo. I have a port in my right upper chest, easily seen. She started massaging the right and left sides of my upper chest. I has to tell her to stop on the right side because of my port. The port is easiy felt through my skin so she had to notice it by touch at least but still did not ask me about it. I asked her if she had other patients with ports and she said yes. So no damage to the port but it is not anything that should be rubbed. It is used for intravenous access and you never want it to move out of position or it will not work. Staff seemed disorganized and we did not have any orientation of what to expect. Once in the cave we were urged to be quiet (we were a group of 4 and someone else was already there trying to relax.) So it was too late to voice concerns or ask questions then. I am several days out and I cannot discern any difference. Isabelle told me you needed to go once a week to see any significant benefits. Sorry I can not recommend this to anyone.
My son made an appointment for my birthday on a random Saturday which was July 17th. He spent $300 for a facial, salt cave, and a massage. I called to reschedule the July 17th appointment for July 19th. I called again on July 19th to reschedule and was informed that I could not reschedule because it was less than 24 hrs notice. I then asked if my son could be refunded, the answer was no. The issue here is that I was not notified of the 24 hour cancellation policy when I called to reschedule the initial appointment. The manager was not empathetic, I needed to reschedule because my husband will be at work and I did not have care for my 6 year old. I actually liked this establishment, but if I’m spending big time money with you and you can’t accommodate me then that’s poor customer service. I will no longer frequent this establishment.
I received the Balance and Replenish Facial and it was awesome! I also received a much needed brow wax and the process and result is perfect. All components of the facial smelled and felt wonderful. I really felt as if I was being treated with top-notch products! The next morning, my skin was flawless; a huge difference! I also purchased Jane Iredale makeup products and am beyond satisfied. My therapist was so friendly and she assisted all of my needs and more. The front desk staff was professional and genuine. See you all soon!
My boyfriend and I scheduled a couples massage for his birthday and the punctuality, professionalism, and attention to detail was great. The 50 minute massage was relaxing and exactly what I was looking for. For it to be my first experience with a professional massage I’m very pleased!
This was my first experience inside the Himalayan Salt Cave and it was everything that I wanted and more. Very relaxing and a spa like no other. I loved my experience and will be back often...very often. Thank you to all of the ladies at the d3sk that helped me during my time here at Skin Sense. Id give you all a one thousand star rating if I could. 💜
Our experience was fantastic. I had a facial and a couples massage. We felt great afterward. Kudos to Emily, Paige and Rachel for being a part of our Anniversary spa day.
Hello sir/madam, Im Joshua Baraka from Nairobi, Kenya. Am a beautician and a masseur by profession with an experience of two years. Im in search of job, if you have a vacant position at your spa please hire me, Id love to work with skin sense spa. Thank you
Wonderful service, Samantha is a great massage therapist and I HIGHLY recommend everyone should go in for some relaxation time. My esthetician, Paula, was marvelous too. They both made me feel welcomed and at ease. Five stars all day long!!!!
I had a facial with Yadid, and it was absolutely amazing! She was great at explaining everything and making sure I was comfortable. She also knew exactly when to have fun conversation and when to let me relax in silence. Im looking forward to my next treatment with her!
I cant believe it has taken me this long to review! Everyone, lend me your ears! I was introduced to Skin Sense for a staff outing, and am so thankful for it. Being new to Raleigh, I left Charlotte( and my mother, a tenured massage therapist as it happens) and had yet to find a place to call ohm . The managerial staff was welcoming, and I am sure they had their hands full catering to 30 women all at once! I must give personal shout outs to the lovely humans who helped me out. Brandy, my massage therapist was wonderful! Skilled and experienced, she was able to ask the right questions and deliver a divine experience. We did couples massage and though my best friend and I talked tsmoough a lot of it, she engaged us and was truly lovely. I must next give love to my skin therapist, Samuel! His expertise and knowledge base was impressive. He was able to give me excellent informtaion on some of the products available, while also giving me great pointers for personal home care. He made me so comfortable and at ease. Overall, my trip was beyond pleasant, beyond relaxing. It was a tremendous experience filled with laughter, happiness and comaraderie. I applaud the owner for being so particular and selective with their staff. It is truly the topper to the therapy cake. Thank you guys, i will most certainly be back!
I was going to wait until Monday when I go back before posting a review, but after reading all the one star ratings... I realize there is a very clear pattern of extremely poor customer satisfaction and people getting charged for services that were never honored. So I will share my first experience with this spa...I work in a very stressful industry and wanted to go to this spa with a business partner of mine to de-stress and try out the salt caves. When I called to book the appointment I spoke with the “manager” and explained that I had never been to the spa before and that I have never experienced a salt cave so I had no idea what to expect. I also asked what the difference was between the Meditation Salt Cave Session and the Adult Salt Cave Session was.She responded in a rude manner and said “We don’t offer the guided meditation!” O.K. Well there was nothing explained to me about either session and in my opinion if you no longer offer a service you should prob remove it from the list of services you offer? So again nothing about the experience or what to expect was ever explained to me. However, she did make it very clear that if I didn’t cancel before 24 hours that I would be charged for the entire session AND if one of us were to cancel that I would still be charged for BOTH of us! I thought that was a bit extreme but had already purchased 2 Groupon sessions, so I booked the appointment.I arrived on time for the session and called my friend/business partner who was stuck in traffic and her GPS said that she was 5 mins away. I told her I would meet her inside the Spa then. When I walked in I said that I was there for a 3pm appointment and gave them my name. I was immediately told to start going back to the salt cave and I explained that my friend was just a couple mins away. I was told that she would not be able to join me and I was baffled! I said “she’s going to be here in just a minute I can’t wait for her or she can’t meet me in the salt cave?” “No we do not allow anyone in that is late” The back and forth went on for a few moments and I was in shock with the way I was being treated. They said “We ask that everyone get here 15 mins early” I said “Well whatever lady I spoke to on the phone never told me anything about being 15 mins early or that we would not be able to enter the salt cave even a min late!”3:05 my business partner arrives and at this point neither of us would be allowed in and I would still be charged for both sessions after we took off time in our busy schedule to drive 30 mins and refuse to have the services that I already paid for! I refused to leave and demanded to speak with the owner and I was told that the owner was away for the next week and a half and they can take my contact info and have the owner call me when they get back. NOPE .... I want to talk to the owner right now!Another customer then entered the spa and they obv didn’t want a scene so I was asked to step into another room with the manager. At this point I was shaking I was so angry. The manager had a very rude demeanor from the start. Once we entered the room we continued to go in circles and continued with the fact that I should have been informed about arriving 15 mins and that when I explained that I had never done this before and that I didn’t know what to expect THAT is when an expectation should have been set.She was very confident in saying “fine I can pull the phone call recording to see if I disclosed that information” I said “OK! If I am wrong and you told me to be here 15 mins early then I will apologize to you and you can charge me for the service and I will leave”Well of course she didn’t listen to the phone call in front of us so that we could hear... but she did go back and listen to it and when she returned had a complete attitude change. It wasn’t until that moment that she was nice and offered to let me reschedule and not charge me for that days session.I mean... at this point do I even want to go back to this place??? I went there to de-stress and my stress was only intensified.
Outstanding service, the vibe was everything me and my fiancé could ever imagine. We enjoyed the salt cave and it was worth every penny I was in there drooling lol. But definitely going back and will be a regular. From the customer service all the way down to the full experience we was not disappointedThank you
My husband bought a couples package at the North Raleigh location. We scheduled massage, muditation and pedicures. Our massages were mediocre, when we were escorted to the mud room we were given no guidance on use and were left in a freezing cold room with a shower head that did not even work. The room had not been cleaned and there were remnants of mud from prior use. When we move on to pedicures there was only one person to do both and we were on a very tight schedule so had to cancel that service. When asking for a refund for the services on our credit card we were told after 2WEEKS of trying to contact management that they would not issue the credit. I have been a client of Skin Sense on and off for over 10 years and will never go back for service nor ever recommend service. Quality and customer service have gone down hill fast and the front desk people have had no training in customer service.
This spa is lovely and the massages are always relaxing. I was quite taken aback, though, when I, a female, was assigned to a Male massage therapist without them checking with me in advance. (They did change it for me when I objected. )
Excellent, flawless experience @ Skin Sense! Their facials are customized to meet the varying needs of different clients skin which is appreciated! They are friendly and welcoming. Two thumbs WAY UP!! Thank you for a gold standard visit!! Excited to return soon!!!
My Massage was not relaxing at all. Girl was too rough. When I asked for the pressure to be less, she was still to rough. Ive had quite a few massages and this was by far the worse. I dont like their cancellation policy. They change you if you dont cancel within 24 hours.
Salt cave smelled slightly of mildew. Chairs were okay but not super comfortable for sitting for 45 min. Skip the scalp massage. The pressure was very light and did not cover full scalp (mostly the temples). Mine was 12 min and my husband’s was 11 min. Neither was the promised 15 min.
There are some good people at this spa, and maybe management has changed in the last 6 months, but customer service is no longer the priority. For my pedicure the tech was about 15-20 min late. She had driven to the wrong location. I was fine with that but then she rushed through my pedicure to make the rest of her appointments. My 50min pedicure was 32 min. When I addressed this at the front desk I was told that pedicures include drying time! I laughed and call BS on that. They agreed to give me a complimentary pedicure but I didnt really want another one-I wanted a different service. The tech was very average and my toes didnt even look that great. I was told they couldnt do that. So I scheduled another pedicure. On the day of my next appointment I called first thing in the morning to cancel my appointment for late that afternoon. I am a runner and had some blisters on my feet. I was told that I would be charged the full price of the service b/c I was under the 24 hour window. They didnt even ask if I wanted a manicure or anything else. I am just tired of the low-end people working there and will never go back. They are trying to be something they are not and that is a high-end spa. Sorry but your money is better spent elsewhere.
