The Z Bar

Popped in here on a Halloween weekend Saturday afternoon (dressed as Beetlejuice and Lydia), and we had been mostly having beers, but this looked like a place for cocktails, and indeed it was. Had some great seasonal concoctions, including a lychee one and a spiced apple one. The bartenders were cool, the atmosphere was nice, and the drinks were great (and reasonably priced.)

Z bar is amazing! The bartenders are all very friendly and quick to serve. Their craft cocktails are delicious and during happy hour 4-6 you can get them for 3 dollars off! Their beer and shot specials are good too and range from $6-$9! The outside is amazing during the day, lots of room with an outside bar as well! At night there are ample fire pits to sit around ! One of the best bars in Reno and definitely a favorite in midtown!

Great little bar with live music. Its a lively place with a karaoke outside on the patio. There are a lot of tables and chairs outside. A food truck is also parked outside. Stopped here with a few friends for a few drinks and had a great time. Hope to return soon.

Didnt have food but the bartender made the best strawberry daiquiri. Great outside atmosphere with lots of games and a fire pit. Recommend highly.

Looking for a bar with mostly 20 year olds who are open minded and non judgemental? Come here. Want vibes similar to sitting around a campfire talking with friends? Come here. I havent been to many bars in Reno, but of the ones I have gone to, Z-Bar is by far the best. It is my go to for a good time.

Pretty cool joint right in the middle of it all. When I went it was dead but it was a Sunday night. Great food recos from the bartender. And the fire pits out back make for a great nightcap.

Had a few drinks loved it good music and the door man I think his name is Chevy super cool dude but also made me feel safe .for sure will be coming back...

This inside-outside bar is such a fun experience. The outdoor firepits are warm and relaxing in any weather, even the heart of winter!

Just stopped by for a drink so can’t comment on the food. However, the atmosphere and service was top notch. Nice area in the back if you are looking for a little less crowded.

I cant recommend this place enough. It was so fun. We stopped there during my friends bachelorette party. The outdoor seating area was awesome. Seating around fire pits and a nice big space. My friends loved the bar tender. They told him they wanted rum in a shot and he created a few different shots for them that they raved about. We met the owner by chance and he was great. We roped him into taking part in a party dare before we even knew he was the owner. We got him to draw a pen tattoo on the bride. He told us after he was the owner. Great guy. If you are looking for a party or a chill relaxing time, this place is great for both.

Am having a great experience here. Very charming and friendly staff. I went here with a few friends of mine and we had a lovely time. Professional bartenders, good music, delicious drink, whats not to like about this place? Its also pretty close to my home so there is a good chance I will be a regular here at Z bar!

The drinks are great, the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable about bourbons and whiskeys which I love. The patio has HUGE potential but needs some tlc to get it back to its glory days. The firepits are warm even during a cold and snowy weekend. Stop by on a midtown crawl...

Ya know I have been coming here for years and watched the amazing transformation of Z Bar come to its full potential! I absolutely love the outdoor seating and firepits and we stayed long enough for karaoke last night. What a great crowd and service is on point! But I have to mention a couple weeks back on a rainy afternoon that needs to be noted. Two business owners , me and my hubby, overworked and overwhelmed decided to stop for a drink. Z the bartender was working away in an empty bar. We usually will stop for 1 and be on our way. He stopped everything he was doing and we started chatting. Almost 2 hours later we forgot about our troubles and had the most amazing conversation with Mr. Z. Thank you sir for taking time out of your day to visit with us. You have no idea how much we needed a distraction from our crazy lives and will be back and bring our friends! You sir made lifelong friends and customers! If you are looking for a great atmosphere and even greater service, you will not be disappointed!!

Open mic night is a genuine taste of Reno, Nevada culture. Locals sing, locals play drums and guitar, its a one of a kind experience that cannot be repeated, and you meet a genuine class of locals over top notch bar service and enjoy the benefit of a super comfortable atmosphere.Definitely recommend 9:30pm-12:00am for tourists or those investigating the Reno area.Open mic nights can vary through days of the week, but Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are dependable in terms of local open mic performances.Have fun yall, and be responsible with how you party. Uber is a way better idea than a DUI, having a sober friend is even better. Be wise. 👌

Beautiful, clean establishment, serving delicious cocktails & draft beers. Zbar has such a welcoming vibe, great indoor seating and outside there is plenty of space for games in the sun, live music, fun events, and relaxing evenings by the cozy fireplaces!

This place is absolutely phenomenal. Great drinks, amazing prices, the staff is amazing, and ownership will always treat you with a smile. I dont know what the word count limit is to leave a review, but I could go on and on and on about how great this place is. John, the gentleman who runs the food, concession stand outside is a great guy, with an amazing menu. Food quality is absolutely stunning, please take my word for it, if you live in Reno or visit Reno anytime soon you have to visit this establishment.

The Z Bar sets the ambiance for the perfect night of girls night out, date night or to gather a group of GREAT friends.On this warm summer eve, it was for the perfect girls night out to reconnect after being stuck in our houses for wayyyy to long so we grabbed the perfect libations going fireside on the cute back patio.I had the Strawberry Basil with my ALWAYS liquor of choice - Vodka, strawberries, lemon, balsalmic vinegar & basil syrup - yummmyyy and my friend opted for the RC with upgraded Empress 1908 Gin, raspberries, cucumber, lemon, mint syrup - deLISH!The staff was super friendly, made GREAT suggestions for drink options and helpful with lighting the firepit for us to enjoy. Look forward to manyyy more chill evenings at The Z.

Ah yes. The Z bar. If youve ever wondered if you could have the best of both worlds of a hotel bar and a high school party completely acted out by people in their late 30s making out, youll get it here. Its loud, dirty, and overpriced. If youre 30, balding, overweight and grow too much hair on your neck, youll find a home here. However, if you dont live in your mothers basement, find somewhere else to buy a bud light for 9 dollarsEdit: the owner got mad. So Ill make sure Im specific. The Firestone draft is 9 dollars, and they dont sell budweiser. Big whoop. At least its clear that the owner himself will lie to you to make a quick buck. Sad!

Awesome down to earth atmosphere and great karaoke.

Bartender was amazing making drinks, honest about what she made best, and very good at what she does. Sitting out back was great, with a big crowd, kind people, especially employees. Fire pits are a warm touch on a cooler night, karaoke was a lot of fun to listen to and watch. Great place to hang out with friends on a random Thursday! Very pleasant experience all around, kudos to the staff!

A cozy and well-stocked bar with a large patio. There are fireplaces outside, but bundle up all the same. The bartender was knowledgeable about their cocktails and the service was great. No kitchen onsite and no slots that I saw, so if you want to get away from that noise, this is a great spot for locals.

I had an amazing time here! The bar is a bit small but dont be fooled, they have an actual large patio with a food truck! I went there a couple Thursdays ago and they had karaoke too. We played giant Jenga and sang a couple songs! Their cocktail menu is very decent as well.

Literally the most disrespectful business Ive ever interacted with. Last year and this year, loud music often playing until 1 or 2 in the morning, louder and later than their permit allows. You can hear it several blocks away in our residential neighborhood. I know Im not the only one to try to contact them or even get the city involved, but we cant get staff to ever answer the phone or return messages so maybe a bad review will finally get their attention. TURN IT DOWN. Youre on the edge of a residential area and people need to get up to work and go to school in the mornings. Have a little consideration!!!

Love the cocktails here, the bartenders are always friendly and creative. The patio is wonderful even on a chilly and evening since the have fire pits. It also has a food truck right on the patio with yummy food!

Lots of variety in drinks with experienced bar staff who can whip up just about anything. Great outdoor setup for people who dont like being cooped up inside. Although the inside is still really nice too, but a bit cramped when busy. The outside area is large with grill, cornhole game, multiple fire pits, many different seating areas and couches and also well lit. Overall a nice hangout spot where youre allowed to bring food or have it delivered and just spend time with friends. This is where my friends and I like to go.

First first time maybe second time but the first time I remember in a long time going to z bar and it was just a wonderful wonderful evening. Ran into some students of mine from 20 years ago and enjoyed the fires and other than the tiny mens bathroom and the very long wait for a beer it was just a wonderful place. Happy staff friendly staff and the vibe was just awesome.

Dont support this bar. Trying to be an outdoor nightclub, playing incredibly loud music past 12a next to dozens of apartments and houses with no signs of stopping after multiple complaints. The city oughta do something. Ive tried connecting through social media, calling, among others--nothing. Completely insane.

Came here for date night with the hubby, and we had a great time. We sat outside by the fire and even though it was chilly, we stayed pretty comfy. We haven’t had a lot of going out experience since moving here a couple years ago, and the experience at the Z Bar was exactly what we were looking for. Prices are a little high, but the drinks are well made. The bartender was super awesome, and we even met cool people there. I will be back as much as I can.

Cool patio, great drinks, fun crowd, not enough bartenders on hand. Took a VERY long time to get a drink with a pretty much full bar & patio ordering craft cocktails from one bartender. Left after one drink because of this, but I could see it being a great time on a different night w/ more staff.

Get the Strawberry Balsamic Cocktail. It is so good!!

A small indoor space with an exceptional patio! The propane will help you keep warm even in the dead of winter and the food truck on the back padio serves exactly what you crave after a night of drinks

Drinks were good and our bartender was great, a little too crowded for my taste but I can see the appeal for larger groups. Definitely not a very low-key place but a great environment if you want to get to know people and mingle.

Place has a good atmosphere and the outdoor seating area is nice with the fireplaces nearby. Its cozy on a chilly night. I did notice this is more of a cocktail bar with a limited selection of beer. I did not see any beer on tap. If youre more of a beer drinker theres places with more if a selection

Its a fun place; the layout is really interesting and cozy. But I got charged 25 dollars for a single glass of Whistlepig rye whiskey. :/ The entire bottle only costs 84. I cant quite understand that markup.

Drinks were excellent. I just moved to Reno a couple of weeks ago, and coincidentally my former colleagues were in town on business, so we stopped in for a quick drink. The bar tender was great and I think we made it there during happy hour because the price was quite inexpensive.

My 2 friends and I came in after googling this place and lemme tell ya. Were from Utah and dont know the area too well. We walked in on a monday night and Alejandro was probably one of the best bartenders weve ever run into. He not only made classic cocktails better than weve ever tasted, but also made a drink from the taste of the liquor we asked for, come see this man, he will not disappoint. Good aesthetic and atmosphere.Definitely will be back.

Great atmosphere. The bartenders are always friendly. The drink selection is very wide and they usually have seasonal special cocktails. They have spent a lot of time in the renovation and it only makes the place better. When they reopen, will be 1 of the first places I visit

The drink menu at this place is so delicious (prices are a touch on the high side - But not unreasonable). what theyve done to this location is nothing less than amazing. Such a super great outdoor dining area lots of fire pits and lots of seating.You should be drinking here.

They have great drink specials, the outside seating has a fireplace and is great. There is an upstairs seating area that is perfect to lounge in with your cocktails. They always have new drink menus that feature the best cocktails you can find. Definately a place you can bring large groups to, or have a small gathering.

Went there with some new colleges on a Friday right as they opened up. The bartender was amazing & quite skilled. Hes diversed in understanding his audience. Service was top notch & loved the outside seating area. Dont let the outside fool you. Great place to mingle.

One of my favorite bars in Reno! The front looks very Dive-y, but their whiskey selection is pretty amazing, and 50% off for whiskey wednesday is awesome! The patio out back has a firepit for almost every seat.

One of my favorite bars. Definitely my go to bar. I love the vibe and events they hold and support. Solid deals every now and again too. Ive never not seen KJ the owner there. Its a solid set up for sure.

I’ve only been there once on a trip and my card didn’t get charged until almost 2 months later. I called to see what’s up and they told me they accidentally set transactions to be processed quarterly. Lol I prefer to pay when I actually swipe the card, not 2 months later. I’m sure the tip will tack on shortly.

What a Awesome experience being entertained by a great band and some good Old School R&B and Soulful Bluesy Jazz. Open and Inviting to take a mic and join in to lead a song with the group and the audience. R&B nights are Tuesdays starting at 8:00pm but the flavor is really jumping off come 9:00pm...

I have only been here one time, but the staff was pleasant, the patio area was filled with games. It’s easy to enjoy yourself here!

Had a great time enjoying Margaritas with my wife and two other couples. It was packed so we had to stand but we were talking and we waited until a table opened up.

Some of the best cocktails in town and the atmosphere at this bar is sophisticated and fun. Theyve always got a great staff and the small parties they throw are fantastic. Come check out their outdoor firepit area this summer!

The bar itself isn’t bad, however they won’t charge your card for your drinks until 2-3 months later, (the only bar in Reno to do this) and they won’t call back if you have a question. Good bar, bad owners and business practices

The parkings in back. From Virginia Street, it looks like a regular dive bar, which it is, but it has a lot of live bands, and jazz on Thursdays which is sort of strange in that its probably the only real jazz place in Reno. Its dark and bit dingy inside, but come on, where else are you going to get real jazz? A bit crowded with the stage, but theres the outside patio area. A few older folks and mostly young folk. Not a great singles scene, but bring your dates and friends for good music. They also have a cute bartender woman from Hawaii.

Love the atmosphere of this place, especially for Happy Hour when the drinks are priced just right. Theyve added fire pits out back which make for a safe and enjoyable bar experience!

KJ is truly a man of his Art. I recommend the GRAPES OF WRATH if you like refreshing, spicy, with enough whatever in it. To get the job done after one drink. But I got 2. LolThanks to JG who brought me here for the 1st time after many years. I still love this place. Happy hour a must.

Very cool atmosphere. Bartenders were very courteous and ready to serve you. The deejay, DJ Urijah, was incredible! Very enjoyable evening.

Seemed like a good place, the ambiance was fine, the speciality cocktails were tasty but the service was infrequent and the server we had outside was both rude and attempted to double charge one of our tabs. Overall a mixed bag.

Went to the food truck and the guy told me “I don’t have time to take your order.” I asked him why they were still open if they were unable to take order and he said “I don’t have time to explain that to you.”

I actually love this place but there was a weird homeless guy lamar that suuuuper creeped on me. I told him I was uncomfortable twice and that didnt stop him. I ultimately had to ask him to go away. He was 53 and Im 24 Im a child to him or should be ew.
