This company has the worse business model ever. Im not a stupid person but I also signed the contract. Dont worry if your massages start piling up, you can suspend your contract. Sure you can do that, BUT all that does in extend your contract by 3 months on the end. I was never told that, it was in the fine print of the contract of course. Well mine started piling up, so I asked if I could use 2 of my massages for an hour and a half to try to catch up. They of course said no, I would have to pay for the upgrade. UNBELIEVABLE since I had 312.35 on their books for the 5 massages plus tax that I was behind. Then they only give you 30 days after your last payment to use the massages that arent used. Oh yes they LET YOU gift 2 months a year then only 2 massages for those months. Man they are my massages I paid for, I should be able to give all the massages I want away. I REALLY BELIEVE THEY DONT WANT YOU TO USE YOUR MASSAGES. My last payment is in Oct, I will never be back, and if anyone asks me about it, I will tell them my experience...............
WARNING WARNING. I signed up for the one year contract to save some money. I didnt use the last three sessions that were paid for. So after fulfulling my contract i cancelled the agreement. So 3 months later thinking i had 3 sessions of credit i called to schedule a massage and they told me that i had no credits because i terminated my contract and have only 30 days after to use them. Yes its in the contract you sign. After talking to Alyssa the manager all she would do is one session not the 3 i paid for just the one and she thought she was doing me a favor of offering one. Hey Alyssa your contract is .................................Im so sorry i bought my friends gift cards. I used to go 2 times a month for almost 2 years. I own a small company Alyssa and i would never treat my cash clients like that. YOU GET ONLY ONE STAR.
I purchased a 1 hour massage. The process of making the appointment went smoothly. I showed up about 5 minutes before my appointment, filled out the paperwork and waited for the massage therapist to see me. She did not come to get me until 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. From here, she started to take me on what seemed like a tour of the facility. Some small talk. She asked me what kind of a massage that I wanted...Im wondering why I filled out the paperwork if the massage therapist is going to ask the same questions that I just filled out on the questionnaire. ??? Upon getting myself ready for the massage it is now 20 minutes after my scheduled massage. It did not take me but 2 minutes to get ready! The massage was fine, nothing spectacular as I have had quite a few massages in the past to compare them to. The massage therapist quit the massage promptly on the top of the hour thus giving me a 40 minute massage when I had paid for 1 hour. I guess you dont get what you pay for at Massage Retreat and Spa.Upon paying and getting ready to leave, I find out that the massage therapist says I need to come back in 2 weeks...after this very disappointing experience, I will not be returning.
Only giving one star because the facial.... WONDERFULThe massage however, was an absolute nightmare. 10 days after the massage and I am just now able to sit back. This girl has NO BUSINESS giving a massage. Elbows being raked up and down your back with full body force IS NOT a deep tissue massage. Appointment started nearly 15 minutes late. Was hoping this place would work out as I have massage done every 2 weeks. However, we had 2 deaths in our family and I have missed my regular therapist. Believe me... The Lord Jesus could come down and try to stop me from seeing my normal girl and I would take the time to reschedule with her, have a chat with my Heavenly Father to explain the problem, before EVER going to this place again.
Ive had a membership at Massage Retreat and Spa for a few months now. Initially I went to get a massage but they had no openings so I tried a facial for the first time. It was relaxing yet I had no idea what I was looking for in a facial. My second experience was better and I learned work could be done on my face to help with my complexion... I also bought a kit of product to try at home even though the shows therapist helping me rushed through the explaination causing me to feel a little confused/overwhelmed. Nonetheless I tried to go back and see her a second time. Two things happened: I had to reschedule my appointment which was inconvenient for the fact that I had scheduled it weeks in advance and also the girl doing my facial was not in any condition to work that day -- she was having personal problems and I feel I didnt get the best care because she was distracted by her own health concerns. I am understanding and realize this could happen to anyone but I decided to make my next appointment with somebody else (this is my 4th skin therapist at this point). She helped make up for some of my negative experiences at Massage Retreat and Spa, she addressed my wants/needs and explained a skin routine that I could do at home. This skin therapist directed me to the front desk receptionist who further helped explain and answer all my questions for new product to buy, she was very patient and thorough. I was excited to follow up on this experience until they called me to reschedule this appointment for a second month in a row. Its discouraging not being able to rely on a business that I have invested so much time and money into. Whats the incentive for keeping a membership if youre not fully satisfied? The variation in experiences has been exhausting so I hope this review helps others not have the same thing happen to them.
A few months ago a male massage therapist got a little too close for comfort on my front side. I didnt say anything because I didnt know if it was professional or inappropriate. I later learned that man was terminated because of that type of conduct. I had two massages since then that were ok, not deep tissue but still ok. So I cancelled my account. Two months later they took $128 from my checking account, this card number was one I used ONE time to pay an extra service time charge, NOT the card I had authorized to be used for monthly charges which I cancelled because of cancelling my account as advised by my bank. This is sneaky and wrong and theft in my opinion as they were not authorized to use this card again let alone keep it on file. And when I called I was told my account was still active. Now this caused me to have overdraft charges. I was told it would be a few days until I can talk to a manager. Oh, and when I initially signed up I was told I was on a month to month plan and could cancel any time. Now I find out that I have a 12 session/month contract. Not cool.
The facility is nice, clean and quiet. My massage was excellent and included a discussion of my problem areas and her recommendations for treatment. My wifes masseur was ok but she eemed to be a relatively new to the job. All and all it was a good experience for both of us at their introductory rate. Id go back again. If you look at the reviews from all of their locations you will find a LOT of comments about their membership program. People not understanding the contract they were signing and not being able to get out of it. I read their flyer, they asked if I wanted to be a member and I said no. All was good. They ARE into marketing and will offer recommendations and discounts to get your to join their annual membership. Just know that that is their business model and they will highly encourage you to join. Dont sign anything you dont understand completely.
This place sucks. Their membership is not a good deal at all. They talk you into what seems like a simple membership and said you can cancel it at anytime online but when I tried cancelling it they told me I have to wait until the whole year membership is over, and there is nothing they can do youre stuck paying $65 a month. They were super pushy for me to sign up and did not listen when I said no the first two times they asked me. Creating a membership with no out for people who cannot afford it is SUCH a scam!!!
I came into Massage Retreat last October and signed a one year contract for $49.99 per month. In December, they sent me a letter that the were raising the price to $54.99and that I would not be grandfathered in. My daughter went into the spa one week later and they tried to sell her a yearly contract at $49.99 and said she would be gandfathered in.This is unethical and unfair to those who had signed a contract. They also failed to honor the terms of the contract for 2nd massages within the same month. The 2nd massage for 90 minutes was supposed to be 39.95 plus $20 extra to go from 60 to 90 minutes. They will not honor that. They are charging $69.95 for the 2nd massage if it is 90 minutes. They also gave 2 -60 minute gift cards to people when they signed up for a yearly contract that were good for a year. They are refusing to honor them and are charging the gif recipient when they come in an extra $10.WHY They say there prices went up. A gift card for a 60 minute massage is a gift for a 60 minute massage, I demanded a cancellation of my contract and reported this business to the Minnesota Attorney Generals office. I have asked that they require this business to honor signed contracts. If they continue to scam people, I will go to watchdog and ask my 5 other friends who had the same experience to really get the message out on social media.BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS.
One of the ladies at the front desk signed me up for what was supposed to be three months of service after I had my son and I would only have to pay a certain amount each time I went. I was able to suspend the first three months since I had my baby but when I realized I wouldnt have time to go I wanted to cancel my service now they are saying I can cancel it when its up in 2018 and I signed up in 2016! Love how they dont mention it will be a two year ageeement. I had a child on the way why on gods earth would i agree to being charged 60 something dollars a month for two years with a baby. And how they are handling it is a joke completely unproffesional too!
TERRIBLE, I will never be back, not only did they screw up my appointment, while waiting in the reception area I heard them screw up 3 other peoples appointments, and at one point an employee walked into the reception area and told the girl working at the desk that she wanted to punch her client in the face (she didnt know I was sitting there and felt stupid once she realized I was). After hearing how they talk about there clients I dont think I would care to have them do anything to or for me. I drove two hours for my massage/facial and only received the facial since they screwed up, the facial was lousy, I could have done what they did myself.
Went for a 60 minute custom facial, had a women named Janea who was kind and was told that she was “experienced” with facials. I came in with a clear face and only asked for a brightening and even skin tone look and said NOTHING about extractions. She started picking at my face very aggressively and left my face with very red raised bumps that she said would go away. I was extremely sad to see my face like that, much worse that when I came in. I woke up to see SCABS all over my face. Payed nearly $100 just to make my skin 10x worse. Will never go back and do not recommend anyone to go there for a facial.
I love every therapist Ive had there. Always so professional and effective Rosy the receptionist/scheduler/coordinator made my day when she scheduled my appointment .I could hear her smiling through the phone and could sense what a cheerful person she is Contagious!
Just know going in that its not 60 minutes of a massage. They count the consulting and changing as a part of the sixty minutes. Its more of a 45-50 minute massage and you get rushed out so they can get their next person in. But its their buisness, they can run it as they like, I will just be going somewhere else.
Massage therapists and front desk are great. Yes the prices went up but this is so therapists can have health insurance and PTO so I dont see this as a problem. Always be aware therapist can run behind if fully booked.
Love seeing Melissa monthly, and I love that my fiance and I are on a dual membership, so when he wants to get in for a massage, it costs us less money than if we didnt!
My facial was great but the massage was terrible and cut short by 20 minutes because the person before me took forever to get dressed after their massage. I will not be returning.
WORST PLACE EVER. THEY OVERCHARGED MY CARD I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER WHEN I READ THE REVIEWS TO NOT GO. I ADVISE EVERYONE TO NOT GO HERE AND DEFINITELY DONT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CARD.THIS PLACE IS A SCAM AND TRAP People in memberships where they keep charging you hidden fees. Dont go to this place.
Scammers! We had to pay in order to reinstate our account so we could cancel our membership?!?! Makes no sense but paid it because they threatened to send to collections and we did not want to ruin our credit rating. Beware!!
The BEST 1 hour Upper Body Deep Tissue Massage I have ever had!! Thank you Mike!! And Alicia, Front desk was fabulous!!
The absolute worst customer service I have ever had. Theycon you in to a membership that you can’t get out of. It’s the worst massage place ever I would never go there I would never recommend anybody to go there.
I’ve been a member for years, and I love this location. Reasonable with amazing estheticians & therapists. Great sales & specials.
Melissa is the best! I plan on coming back to see her again soon. Can’t wait!
