Fun gay bar. Primarily lesbian crowd but very welcoming to anyone. Theres a cabaret in the back. Service here is friendly. Its very clean and well maintained. They have very basic bar food but its quite good! Drinks are fairly priced and poured just right. A hidden gem! The owner here cares a lot about her establishment and it shows. Its a very comfortable place to hang out during the non-prime hours but you can really get your party on a Friday or Saturday night. Check out the drag shows here too. Great acts without the pretense of some of the larger establishments in the area. The stage is small but it makes for a much more intimate setting and you can get up close and personal with the queens. Overall a really great bar!
I have gone to this bar about 10 times. I liked it a lot. Then I had one of the most miserable experiences Ive ever had with an establishment. They get paid $100 by a towing company per car they let them tow from their lot, then the towing company charges $300 to the people they tow.I sober drove a friends car home last night, and left mine there. Left it there for about 5 hours. They dont even use the lot during the day. What a sleazy business practice. That practice just encourages drunk driving and is completely unethical to their customers.Never going to the Town House again. Please support sober driving and dont go their either.
If this was five years ago, Id be giving this place a four stars. The only reason Id dock it a star was because of Monday Mens Night not being as good as it used to be. Unfortunately, I cannot say that this place is as good as it used to be. It has gone downhill in a few ways. I used to say that this was always a place to have a good time. Now, its a hit and miss. The reason I say hit and miss is because of the overwhelming level of political correctness. Often, Id be visiting this place, and thered be such an abundance of it from both staff and customers that it get to be uncomfortable being in there. Id have to leave earlier than I had originally planned. I go to a bar for a good time, not to watch every little thing I say or do as closely as I often feel I have to. To their benefit, its not like that every night. There are some nights that Id be getting great customer service, feeling comfortable, and having a good time by myself or with my friends.Ive been there for their Wednesday night drag shows many times. They are quite a talented bunch. They know how to entertain a crowd and do great numbers. My favorite drag queen there is Jamie Monroe, especially her Liza Minnelli numbers (Im a Liza fan). My only complaint about the drag shows is Gucci Velour. Every time Ive seen her there, she has been extremely rude to friends and me for no reason. Ive seen her do the same with many of the other patrons. Her self-righteousness also does not need to be displayed when shes working (shes also a hypocrite). Ive made multiple complaints to the bar about her. Besides, she is a horrible performer. She needs to go!Ive been there a few times for Bingo. It is superb! I love that their money goes to HIV funding. Im 100% for the cause. Aside from that, Ive always had a blast playing with them.Overall, the quality of the drinks depends on the bartender. Heather, Trent, and Mickey are the best at them. They are also polite to the patrons and me. Ive carried some pretty good conversations with some of them during their slow times.Sometimes, this can be a good place to go for a good time. I just have to observe a little more about when the best times are to go there, assuming the time frames are consistent. I hope the overall quality of the bar improves back to what it was five years ago.
Good drink prices, karoke thursdays, drag on the weekends. Bartenders here makes the drinks STRONG after 9pm so be careful and watch them if youre not into that, I personally appreciate it dont have to buy as many drinks
No longer cash only, the Blackharts new owner is open for suggestions and very friendly. If you have an honest concern, the owner, Wes, is all ears and is open to talking to people about it.
The Town House is great for a number of reasons. The staff is friendly, the drinks are pretty strong, the music is usually pretty good, etc. The only drawback to this place is that its small and gets CROWDED on busy nights, especially on the dance floor. If thats what youre looking for on a certain night, though, go for it! The Town House is one of my favorite GLBT establishments in the Twin Cities.
Good location, parking lot, always shows and activities going on. Really laid back divey queer bar right off of the light rail. Cash bar, reasonable prices and fried bar food available
Great place the staff outstanding one two three hydration as I said it it is just a very nice kind of place the staff and the management are just outstanding they go out of their way to help you if you never been there Ive been there a few times every time Ive gone the waitresses the bartenders the owner Holly just outstanding they go out of their way just to make your trip very pleasant take care from Lou the photo guy God bless
Theyre alright but if you identify female they make you wait longer for your drinks, I tried to get my drinks from the bar (I am trans and identify female) but the gay bartenders make the different individuals wait longer than the GAY inspectors so I found that a little uncool.
Definitely a little hole in the wall, teeny tiny inside but lots of fun. Friendly, good LGBT crowd. Only major downside is cash only.
The vibe was s**t as soon as we walked through the door. Some A-Hole skipped the song I put on 30 seconds into it because they had the remote and didnt like the song I chose.
Classic Lesbian bar inclusive of gay and trans folks with great shows, but cash only and some straight cis dude bros will sometimes crash the joint on accident, but still not to be missed for historic value alone.
There was good music, an awesome crowd, and nice prices. I had a great time. Just make sure you bring cash!
Barely a star, very unattractive bar and unattractive bar maids/help...all around boring...staring at paint is Sexier than this place. HA HA HA SELLL OUTS ...FATTY TWO BY FOUR CAN NOT GET TO THE BACK BAR ....
I LOVE THIS LESBIAN/GAY FRIENDLY BAR FOR ALL LGBTQ PEOPLE AND ALL OTHER PEOPLE LOVE THE DRAG SHOWS KARAOKE AND MORE ITS ALL AWESOME
Not a great selection, an ancient ATM, and a cash-only policy. The atmosphere is convivial and the drag show is killer!
Seriously? Cover charge? Any gay bar in ANY large city does not charge cover, unless theyre awful...used to be okay with this place, but after the cover charge, Im turned off.
So rude i didn’t know i have to pay cover i just pass for the door and went to order a drink and the guy was so rude like you need to pay right away or i”ll just kick out i mean its just a minute since i got here and my first time!! So bad im disappointed!!!!
I go every sunday. It one of the best bars in the midway; i have a little family here
A friendly, inclusive local spot with a great crowd of regulars. Great karaoke.
David is a hoot. Love the special dish contest. I had a great time
Great music, and really nice drink specials. You would never expect this gem to be in midway.
Super, super divey. Five stars at exactly what it is trying to be. But maybe replace the carpet.
Had a great time watching the Town drag show tonight. Disappointed that they dont take cards.
It is, what it is! Great pours, good prices, great music, but come prepared with cash.
Strong affordable drinks, friendly barstaff, amazing entertainers!!
Favorite LGBTQ bar to go to and I drive 30 mins to get there!
Cheap drinks fun atmosphere and great shows
EXTREMELY colorful! Accepting! Loving people! My fellow humans!!!!
Not going big to be Town House anymore. It was sold. Probably going to run every one of the regulars away.
Everytime I go there I get the cold shoulder from bartenders I will not go back
Good shows darts pool and a creative crowd
OPENMINDED, friendly kool, but can be dead sometimes.
Place needs an upgrade. It is extremely out dated
Spacious, attentive waitstaff without hovering
Hometown bar with a hometown vibe. Get to know people!
Food, drink and fun entertainment.
