I recently organized a bachelor party at Lone Star Saloon, and it was an absolutely stellar experience! From the moment we reached out, Charlie, the bars manager, was incredibly responsive and helpful in organizing the event. His accommodating nature made planning a breeze, and he was open to all our plans and ideas.Charlie went above and beyond, assisting us with decorations and even helping to hire a dancer for the party. His attention to detail and dedication to making our event special were evident in every aspect. The venue itself was fantastic, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.Everyone who attended had an amazing time, and I couldnt be happier with how everything turned out. If youre looking to host any kind of event, I highly recommend Lone Star Saloon. Their exceptional service and dedication to ensuring a memorable experience are unparalleled. Lone Star Saloon is absolutely fantastic! The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. I love coming here right when it opens because the slow crowd allows you to fully appreciate the stunning backyard area. The patio is drenched in sunlight, making it the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the laid-back vibes.

I could not say enough good things about this bar! We live a few blocks away and it’s the perfect spot for happy hour, or drinks with friends later in the evening. The owner is so sweet and remembers us. The other bartenders remember us too and are so friendly. It’s dog-friendly and has a great selection of beers on tap and liquor. We go at least once a week. Thank you, Lone Star for being so welcoming!

I dont recommend this bar, we paid $34 for two beers and two shots, it doesnt accept card payments or small change, you have to withdraw with a $10 fee.Then the atmosphere is zero. then we arrived at 11:30 p.m. knowing that it was written that it closed at two in the morning but it closes at midnight.

Great bar!They (bar) hosted the full queer wrestling event. What a show - hillarious. 😂Bartender was great as was the bar and the entertainment - priceless.

One of my favorite spots to go. I will say that the cash only part is a bit annoying, but the drinks are always good, the crowd is always fun and the atmosphere is enjoyable.

A nice fun bar for bears and their fans. The best part of this bar is their patio, which has a good fun vibe when it’s not too crowded. The drinks are pretty strong so bring your friends and enjoy.

Tonight was my 3rd and final night going to this place. Im always patient and wait for a bartender, and there is always some rude, entitled person that just walks right up and cuts. Bartenders dont ask who was first and serve the white person, but tonight was more insulting. After serving the white guy - who cut me, the bartender walked away. Another bartender came over, unfortunately, no Stella in a bottle or grenadine for a cocktail. Im tired of the way this spot makes me feel, so Im not going back.

First time here! 5 stars from me, safe space and love the vibe!For someone who has a lot of anxiety in public spaces (especially bars) I found this space to be very inviting, welcoming & friendly amongst patrons and bartenders. I love the outdoor area in back and the wide open space in the front indoor area with high ceilings, making it feel not nearly as claustrophobic as some other venues.What I also love about this bar is that its very body-image positive & everyone is encouraged to be themselves. I find a lot of gay bars in SF are quite the opposite. But this place is unique and stands out. If youre walking here alone or foreign to the area, just be cautious of your surroundings. A lot of sketchy characters hang nearby & look for easy targets. But by all means go to this Bar. Its a safe space for both men & women.Looking forward to my next visit and surprised I havent visited this bar sooner!

This bear bar is so chill. The owners are down to earth. The customers are just awesome.

Worst service ever and really low quality cocktail. Really not an inclusive space for straight people because of the bartender’s comments, and if you are straight, just pls don’t go. And remember to bring cash as it is cash-only place, and if you don’t they will yell at you all over the bar and call you that you can’t afford it before they offer you to use the ATM.

Can’t believe it took us this long to stop by here. This is already one of my favorite gay bars in SF! The crowd is on the older side and overall such a chill vibe across the bar. There’s pool, a little disco vibe, a little grunge, and a beautiful back patio!

Great place for drinks, hanging out, playing pool, and meeting bears. Theres always great music on the weekends with local DJs keeping the vibe fun. Definitely one of my favorite gay bars in SF.

I was an out of town visitor and although this bar was relatively dead I enjoyed myself on a Friday night. That being said. 1 bartender charged me $15 for a double Titos and soda. The other bartender charged me $20 for a single Makers neat. I guess what Im trying to say is go for vodka and not whiskey........

Cash only, but there is an ATM in house. There is a great patio here if you smoke or vape. The bartenders have always been friendly and fast. The crowd here is also generally laid back and easy going. A great place for a few drinks, or an evening of fun an conversation. You can find much more than conversation here, if thats what youre looking for, as well.

One of the best bars in SF!! If you’re just looking for a chill gay place to grab a drink with friends and handsome strangers look no further. Sometimes there is an event with a $5 cover but always worth it! Well-priced drinks, the best bar staff and an outside patio in the back.

This is one of those places where the staff is very helpful and attentive. Where do you feel yours, even if you came alone. Very cozy.There are promotions all the time, and you can get free cocktails and a private room for an hour. To do this, register on 909gay,com to create a profile and just show it to the administrator. Great guys!

Around 10 pm this night I asked the bartender BRUCE JENNISON if had a charger to charge my phone. He didnt, so I left. I came back later to use the restroom, and after he asked if I wanted a drink. He said cash only. I was a little confused, but before I couldnt even ask to use the ATM, he kicked me out without giving me a reason. Very rude, seems the decision was racial motivated

A neighborhood hole in the wall bar (in a good way), that has reasonably priced drinks, friendly staff and friendly patrons. The crowd is mostly gay males, 30+, culturally mixed, though with a small tendency towards caucasian bears. NOTE: the bar is cash only, they have a cash machine in the back.

Went here last night with a few friends of mine. Definitely a fun and unique place. Definitely leans toward the burly bear and cub community. The only place Ive been to that gives discounts to short boys! Well drinks came out to only $4 last night, that is unheard of in the city. You can always count on getting drunk for cheap at gay bars. They have a great outdoor patio space too, with bar in the back. Spent most of the night out here, which was perfect with the warm weather. The Stud and the Eagle are nearby too if youre looking for a different scene afterwards.

Tasty Cakes is a great bartender. Fun bar to hang out in. There is a nice patio in the back. Main bar includes a pool table and a DJ box.Sometimes there is great art on the walls.Check it out and have a great time.

The archetypical bear bar, now fully open since California loosened pandemic rules. I used to hang out there a lot years ago; I stopped going after the place was sold and became noticeably less bear-friendly. It’s changed hands again and is now owned by former bar staff, and it’s back to its glorious old self.

Place is either packed or is virtually empty. No in-between. Cubcake is always a good time

This hole on the wall bar is nice. Big screen tv for games. Beer prices are good, beer is cold. Gets packed on weekends but is a nice place to chill with your friends. Free popcorn. They have baskets of free condoms for patrons. Patio has its own bar as well. Great place to meet new people. One of my fav places in SOMA

I want to like it here, but I really don’t. There’s nothing unique about it. Other neighborhood bars are more interesting with a better crowd and friendly bartenders.

Great place to get your Gay Bar on. Dont let me chick-like demeanor fool you, this is a boys only bar (typically), I stopped in for a drink with a friend who does the gay bar scene but hadnt been to this one. Its a good, solid place. Kinda not jammed up on a Saturday afternoon, but still enough ppl to mingle should you so desire. Really close to the Stud so if you are there, swing by and check out Lone Star. I disapprove of the name due to: Texas. But its a good place to drink and is pretty mellow. At least it was on Saturday afternoon maybe 5ish.

Fun gay dive bar in the Soma. Bar up front with a pool table. In the back there is an equal size open air patio with seating. Staff is friendly and drinks are cheap. Draws a 30+ crowd on the scruffy side.

Bears, Bikers, and Mayhem has been the slogan of The Lone Star Saloon for decades (although the mayhem is the sort about which everyone says, Gee! That was fun!). The new owners (since 2010) have kept all the best features and community outreach going strong, while making several much needed updates to the decor that greatly enhance the atmosphere. Its an easy walk from the Muni station, so well worth a trip on a Sunday afternoon for their infamous beer bust.

Always a good time. I might have tried on an off night this time cuz it was really really dead. Hung out for a drink, went walking around the streets and came back, then there was a cover charge, had another drink and still no one around. Ive been in the past and it was great fun. Just not this time.

Went in for an early evening drink and loved the place. Lovely atmosphere, reasonable prices and bar man was friendly. The lady who was with me also liked the atmosphere.

Ive been going here for Years! Its a SOMA institution. Medium sized back area with bar (weekends). Mixed Gay crowd on beer Sundays. Great events on weekends and DJ music

Easy, laid back bar for men. If you are a boy that needs a lot of fluff and decor then you may want to consider getting out of SOMA and heading to the Castro... we like it here the way it is.

It was alright. The gogo daddies looked very bores. Might have been a bad night for me. Would I go back? Yes, it’s a different experience.

Hit or miss during the week, but no worries, the bartenders are great, music is usually good, and there is always someone fun or interesting to talk to.
