I used to eat here with some regularity before the pandemic and always enjoyed it. My wife and I discovered that it had reopened last year and had dinner during one of the downtown resurgence events last fall. They never disappoint. Besides being a unique venue, the food and service are great. Tip: Eat outside on the patio when the weather is nice!Last week I had a class reunion there. While the gathering was on the smaller side, less than 20 people, the management was very flexible with our accommodations. All my classmates and their significant others all enjoyed the food, service and old school architecture.Keep up the good work.

We were lucky to get a table as this place had three private parties going on. We managed to eat in the outdoor tent area which was cooler than inside but still ok. We each ordered appetizer size food and was a perfect amount for the not so hungry. Prawns were cooked perfectly and paired well with the mixed greens. Our waitress, Nicole, wasn’t so great. She poured a taste of wine and left the table with our bottle for all of us to pour ourselves. She was not attentive and seemed very quick to try and run away from us. We will be back for the food and hope we don’t sit in her section.

Had lunch here. Really enjoyed the food. Very cozy, clean, pleasant staff. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend crab stuffed salmon.

There is NO HAPPY HOUR!!!! The reviews about happy hour are old, I just wanted to let yall on Google know. Drinks were good but they were out of like 5 beers which is a lil disappointing. Marionberry mule was good, not super sweet and I liked it.

There was no wait on a Saturday at 6 pm. The staff was friendly and attentive. Quality of the food wasnt outstanding, but the service more than made up for it. Its a great place to get friends together and share small plates. They turn the restaurant into more of a nightclub after 10:30.

Great Rooftop. The food is high quality and delicious. Exceptional customer service, everyone is super sweet and they make you feel like family.

$4 water. No free water provided. Similar if not worse experience as other bars. Only go here if you really want to smoke hookah, otherwise, go anywhere else.

Great variety of American Bistro food. Both entrees we ordered were delicious and good portion size. The crab stuffed salmon was delightful. We also got the baby spinach salad.

I have exclusively frequented this establishment for group gatherings, and I must commend the consistently excellent service it provides. From the efficient service at the bar to the quality of the cuisine, every aspect is commendable. The staff is unfailingly courteous and helpful. The expansive and comfortable patio area adds to the overall appeal of the venue.

Havent had the food there, but at nights theres no cover. DJ and dance floor upstairs as well as downstairs. Always worth checking out

We have been long time customers of the Loft and we keep coming back because it never disappoints us. Great food great service are always on tap. The wedge salad is one of my favorites as well as the steak bites and the calamari. Rarely do we get dessert since I’m always too full, but this time we split a creme brûlée and it was amazing. Sorry didn’t think to take photo before. Haha!

Dj is not good. Vibes are so bad. No one wanted to dance. Music was so whack. People go here for the no cover charge, they definitely don’t come here for the music.

Went here for the rooftop view, which wasnt even open and ended up on the second floor view which is of the clouds👎As far as the food and service the staff wasnt very friendly our waiter was very short and not friendly. The food was undercooked, and there were very small portions. We ordered some of the specialty drinks, which were disgusting and didnt drink. The waiter still charged us full price for them and didnt even ask if we would like something else. Terrible experience, which was supposed to be a nice evening to try somewhere new.

A real big disappointment ! The food was OK and the music was good too what really was shocking the consistency of bad service by most of their servers. The first waitress was rude impatient and did not care at all about our order . The guy who served our food was equally disinterested and the girl who came to serve us later was not helpful either. They closed the heaters even though we were still sitting and eating . I understand that there are busy nights however if you don`t care at all for a table don`t let them in, in the first place . We called to confirm and reserved the place and after that if this is their level of service , I would say as a customer I am appalled.

Fantastic Remodel. The food was incredible. The Bistro Filet was tender and flavorful. The Veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. The Fries were skinny fries golden brown. Everyone was friendly. Great to see a restaurant reopen better than they were when COVID hit. Oh yeah super high-end entrees but not a one over $30.

Came here for friends birthday party. Great venue upstairs for events. Food tastes so good, and service staff are very fast and friendly. LOVE the bar. If they can write off the parking fees, itll be ideal. Definitely consider my next event held here.

My son and (now) daughter-in-law were married there. Fun ceremony on the roof and dinner and dancing in the dining room. Kam, Adrian and staff were awesome!

After reading the Yelp reviews, I was hesitant about going here. We had gift certificates and decided to go ahead and give it a try. Im so glad we did. The food was tasty and our waitress was totally on the ball. We were there on a Fri., around 6:00 pm. Place filled up quickly so others obviously like the food and service here as well. Would definitely come back again!

Would be five stars if the staff was a tad more attentive to customers when they walk in! The food is amazing and drinks prompt and delicious. The bar tender is personable and attentive once we were seated, the atmosphere is well balanced and did I mention the food was amazing? Best blackened chicken Ive had anywhere.

Great small plates. Good place to hang out for beers or cocktails and grazing on small plates. Service is also very good. We sat at the upstairs bar (which has a comfier ambience than downstairs) and the bartender was on top of his service.Nothing unique about the menu, but the food tastes great!

What cool place to enjoy your meal. Validated parking, online reservations, friendly greeting at the door, what more can you ask for? Ask for great food ofcourse. I was fortunate to have Jason wait on our table and besides having great service, he delivered great food. He suggested the lamb shank and the short ribs; they were wonderful. The only problem.....they ran out of the creme brulee, it must have been too good to keep enough on hand (@ 7pm). I dont blame him. I recommend this restaurant.

Its difficult to describe my experience as anything more than mediocre. The food was cooked well past what was specified, the fries were similar to what you would find at McDonalds, service was slow/error-prone, and prices were well beyond the quality of what was received.

Terrible Service! Inexplicably Long Wait times!When we walked in they told us the kitchen was backed up and that we would have to wait 10 minutes longer than usual. That 10 minutes was a wild underestimate, since we left 1.5 hours after arriving without seeing our entree.After waiting 10 minutes just to see a waitress and get our order in, we had to wait half an hour to get soup, and another 20 minutes to be offered bread. By this point we noticed that other people who had arrived and ordered after we did started getting their food. 20 minutes later we still didnt have our food. People at other tables were complaining to the wait staff about the wait times. After a final 10 minutes we payed for the soup and went to InnOut.If they had told us that they were going to be unreasonably slow, we would have happily come back another day. Now were missing an hour of our lives and hate the place. Their loss I suppose.

Cozy patio, live de and mostly 20 something’s

They mark up their prices for holiday events! I checked the menu of this location before coming on Valentines day and made a reservation. However, when I saw the menu, I was upset. Items were marked up $7-10 extra. I originally thought the valentines day menu was cute for the holiday, but i realized the special menu was for special prices.

Its a good place. Nice atmosphere. We went in on a Saturday night and it was very empty. That worried me initially, but thankfully a handful more guests came in. The stairs that go up to the second floor where the bar is are a killer going back down, if youve had a few drinks. I had the Fettuccine Santa Maria. It was good, but nothing to write home about. It had chicken, prawns, dried tomatoes, spinach, and artichokes. One thing particularly that I did like about the dish was that the sauce wasnt super buttery (my stomach is sensitive to butter). My date had the Lamb Shank. It came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. He seemed to like it and it was fall off the bone kind of meat. He did say his Moscow Mule tasted mostly like sprite with very little alcohol. My lychee martini tasted great, though the lemon peel that went into the glass was bruised and old looking. Overall, sure, Id come back.

Very nice. Not very busy went I went and was afraid food might not be great, but ordered the Oso Bucco and it was tender and delicious. Came with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies for $20. Pretty reasonable, Right? Its almost right next to the Improv, so if youre going to a show, its really convenient too.

Food was really good. There was some mistake and our food didnt come out for an hour! But they gave us a free bottle of wine as apology. So no harm done! Nice atmosphere.

This is your average small restaurant with all of the basics youd expect at a bistro. Nothing stood out as amazing, yet nothing was horrible. The service was very friendly and helpful, which produced an inviting atmosphere that I enjoyed. I had the flank steak salad as my main and the shrimp skewer appetizer. The shrimp itself was good, but it was covered in a butter glaze that was overkill and felt like a chain restaurant menu item. The flank steak wasnt consistently cooked, leaving some pieces rarer than Id consider eating, while others were medium and delicious. The lettuce was iceberg which seemed around the quality of pre-cut-before-delivery lettuce. Overall - 3 stars - not amazing food, but very kind service.

Our server was attentive without being annoying or cloying. Our food was hot, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Our orders were 100% correct and the ambiance was delightful. 10/10 will return!

The guy that manages the loft is really nice. He was engaging with my kids and made sure we were happy with everything. I believe his name was Adrian. The food was timely and tasted great.

Average food, very cramped space. The limited space made the social aspect of our social event very difficult. The lack of space combined with a high speed staff trying their best to get the job done means someday somebody will get knocked down, I had a few near collisions with staff that charged through the crowd and I wasnt drinking like some people were.

This visit was unforgettable as I had dinner with three of my professors, the acting head of the Urban and Regional Planning department at San Jose State, and a candidate to replace the current head. The fish and chips I ordered tasted excellent, the wait staff was fast and looked after our needs, and I had a wonderful time chatting with my cohorts in the program I am actively involved in graduate school.

Last night I had a very upsetting experience at this bar . I have came her several times both for booked parties or just for drinks . For the most part the experiences have been okay but last night my boyfriend who has a neck tattoo of a rose was refused entry . It was his birthday and he thought hed be able to come inside a bar that he himself has came several times before with no problem . Instead of being let in he was accused of being gang affiliated. (A damn rose) So a warning for all humans with an innocent or non innocent neck tattoo this place discriminates on neck tattoos and you will not be let in because of it . I was so upset last night I will not be returning and will be contacting a lot of family and friends who frequently book parties here .

Had the Meatloaf .it melted in my mouth! The staff were friendly. Just little distracted we had ask for place settings and a couple of things and we sat at the bar! We a little forgotten! But the food was delicious! Comps from one Chef to another💯👩‍🍳🦸‍♀️👱‍♀️

The service is okay, but the security guards need to be more professional. My encounter with 3 of the guards outside threw off my whole mood and vibe for the night. And when I spoke to the owner/manager his rude bevahior and impotent lack of respect and customer service was what led me to take my business elsewhere. I work in corporate security and im also a supervisor that overlooks the operations of at a minimum of 30 officers, there is no need to be hostile with someone that carries a flashlight around with them, a simple and professional discussion would have been more appropriate but their staff definitely is far from professional.

Went there with my wife after work one evening. Nice atmosphere, delicious food. The location is very good. I had no problems with finding a parking space. The music was loud at one point, but still great choice for dinner.

Attended paint night hosted by Arti-culture! Happy hour was nicely priced beers and well drinks. Appetizers were tastey, plentiful and reasonably priced. Portions able to share. Atmosphere and staff friendly and inviting. Parking is validated! A plus for a downtown restaurant.

What a pleasant surprise! Went there for my daughters SJSU graduation party and everything on their menu was my favorite! Plus the service was 5 star! We will be going again soon!!!

I wasnt sure how to rate this to be honest. It has its pros and cons. Like anything else really. I hate that the top floor is so crowded you cant really dance, but I love that its free. Who doesnt love free, right? There is nothing classy or nice about it. Its just your typical dance floor and bar. Music is good.

Avoid the seared ahi entree. Seasoning was extremely bland and vegetables tasted like they were ready to be tossed. Everything about the dish was depressing. A memorial could be erected to remember the tragedy of what this tuna steak could have been. Wifes dish was alright and service was good though hence the three stars.

Great Ambiance Poor Food Poor DrinksWe went here for Dine Downtown, the week in San Jose where restaurants give fixed price menus for discounted rate. Unfortunately, this place provided all lack luster food fare.We ordered old fashions at the table, we received a glass of whisky with water and a maraschino cherry at the bottom. It was not an old fashion, it was just bad.Three of us ordered off the fixed menu, one ordered off the standard menu. The fixed menu items were poor. Soup was bland, having no flavor and served warm. The tomato mozzarella salad, was just sliced roma tomatoes with slices of mozzarella and strips of basil. It was a disappointment with under ripe tomatoes.The entrees continued in the train of the meal. The pasta with chicken and shrimp, was bland, lacking any flavor to an overly buttered and oiled dish. Luckily, the table did come with salt. The mashed potatoes had an odd sticky texture, but missed one of the great joys of mashed potatoes, the flavor of a potato mixed with creamy butter. They were just sticky bland mash.But, maybe there was hope with desserts. Yet, there was none. The berries with grand marnier cream, was a little cup of berries with non sugared whip cream. The berries werent macerated, they werent even ripe! If you went to the grocery store, bought some berries, threw them in a glass, whipped up some heavy cream and gave it to your significant other, theyd wonder why you decided to put them on a bland diet. Maybe you did something wrong to offend them, or maybe you just decided that taking a page from the chef at the Loft was a good idea.The creme brulee was curdled, making it and oddly textured sweet caramel covered scrambled egg.Why not 1 star you ask? Why give them two stars? Well, the service was nice and attentive. The roof top porch was open and perfect for a summer night. The experience is fun, you keep eating bland bad food, but then you look at the people you are around, laugh and say, theres great ambiance. So, the saving grace of this place is the location.If you want good food, go somewhere elseIf you want good drinks, go somewhere elseIf you want good desserts, go somewhere elseIf you want to enjoy the company of friends on a summer evening, try somewhere else, if you cant find anywhere else to go, go to the Loft.

I enjoyed my evening so much while there with friends. The service was outstanding and food was delicious!!! I must say i cannot wait to go back and visit the loft and enjoy myself once again while in town.

The interior is nicely appointed, with classy wood trim and well-spaced tables. But the selling point (its in the name) is the loft - and the loft was a mediocre experience. The rooftop patio is indeed on the rooftop, but there are high walls that block nearly all view from your table - its no different, in terms of experience from sitting on the ground.Food was also mediocre. I had the lamb shanks, which were a bit low in quality, with a fruity sauce lacking in complexity. My wife had the blackened chicken, which was dry. Quality definitely not up to the price.

Nice bar with great drink selections. Cool little patio to hang out on upstairs (when the disgusting people are not smoking up there). If anything, that would be my only complain about this location and the town in general: to many disgusting smokers, poluting the air.

Its american food. I think they cook well. Today I had the steak salad and they cooked the steak correctly! There are stairs going upstairs and the dining area is a bit strangely laid out because of that.

Robert and Adrian, the managers were awesome. The kitchen crew was fantastic. Try the small plates and share. The tuna tacos are the best I have ever had.

Pecan panko crusted salmonis our absolute favorite! Portions seem to have gotten a bit smaller but the taste is amazballz! The atmosphere is great for a family dinner and for date night. Get there before 9pm on the weekends or you will be part of the bar/dance crowd!Update: this particular salmon dish is no longer available... But there are still amazing food choices to pick from.But please bring back the panko crusted salmon

The drinks are about $15 and the bathroom was a disaster. There are only two stalls in the womens bathroom. By 11 one toilet was not flushing and neither stall had toilet paper. Its understandable that the toilet could stop working, but there has to be toilet paper stocked well enough for the night!

This place was great a year or two ago, but the menu has now changed (removing the popcorn chicken, for example) and the food I have had since has been bland.The upstairs loft also seems to always to be reserved, meaning that you cannot really come for its namesake.I used to look forward to coming here, but I think I have just made my last visit.

Had a Pretty mediocre pasta with lamb and a pretty good whiskey drink. Enormous portions wont leave you hungry. Good for groups because the menu is stocked with crowd pleasers like sliders and calamari.

What a joke. They asked for my hat at the door which I’m entirely okay with but when I left I was told there was a table outside in the sidewalk with all the hats. It was empty. When confronted all they had to say was we told you hats aren’t insured. Absurd. Try not creating and situation where people aren’t encouraged leaving the bar to take hats.... never again.

I like the Loft. At night it is a nightclub. It is free to get in. It is for 21 and up people. They have a bar. They sell food like quesadillas.

The ahi tuna is quite delicious. Staff was attentive and kept the cocktails coming from start to finish. Definitely a place Id recommend.

The loaft Mmmm water down drinks.. well this place has good music upstairs I just went after hours as and danced bought 4 drinks both times margarita and Tokyo tea both water down and with the cheapest alcohol but they where supper expensive for it to be a club 25$$$$$ each time so a total of 50$$$ I will not be going back tnx a lot their is many more options in Downtown San Jose would not recommend.. for drinks ppl where same as any downtown lodged..
