Talus Rock was unique and charming. We stayed in the Selkirk room. The room was spacious and had amenities which included climate control and extra linens. Unfortunately, my husband and I were very displeased with the breakfast. We woke up at 9am to go downstairs to find an unappealing slice of bread in a bag. Furthermore, there was no fruit or eggs out as advertised on the website. In the morning, the staff was unpleasant by not acknowledging us so we packed our bags and left. We ate breakfast in town. Overall, I would not recommend this place. A bed and breakfast should have a decent breakfast.
My husband and I were passing through with our dog, and spent the night at Talus Rock. What a lovely place! We were (all) welcomed by our kind hosts. The building is beautifully situated, with lovely views of a water feature in the back. The decor - and each room - is uniquely beautiful. We had a great sleep and enjoyed the continental breakfast the next day, looking out at songbirds, geese, and a heron who was hoping to get a gosling! This will be our choice the next time we’re in Sandpoint.
Stop searching where to stay in Sandpoint and make your reservation at Talus Rock. I was greeted by name within five seconds of walking through the front door. My experience with Chad and Jill was exceptional, they are extremely personal and will make you feel as if youre part of Talus. The attention to detail in the construction of the home is very impressive. Just about a mile from downtown SP nestled among the trees this has been one of my best experiences ever.
My husband and I stayed in the grand arbor room on our honeymoon for three days. The place wasnt bad, but it wasnt nearly as impressive as the pictures led us to believe. The pool is laughably small, the grounds arent nearly as secluded as we were led to believe, most of the rooms in the building are just basic bedrooms with a microwave in them. Everything is just... smaller than it looked. The breakfast bar is also a little odd in its choices of food. It felt like it was catering to an over 60 crowd. The staff is very attentive... almost too attentive if youre an introvert. All in all, its fine, but pretty expensive for what youre getting.
What a gem! Found this oasis on a last-minute booking site after a very long day on the road. Stunning, intimate setting unlike any lodging Ive ever seen. Lovely staff who called me by name, beautiful grounds, and super comfortable room. Very quiet and serene--drank wine and watched the wildlife by the pond. This place is stunning!
Do you know the feeling of traveling for a long time and finally arriving?! Thats how I felt about Talus Rock - HOME!If you are looking for a feeling of deep connection to nature and yourself, that’s more than the right place for you!!Thank you for the excellent hospitality and an unforgettable time! Highly Recommended!
Super relaxing nature all around. Amazing grounds and beautiful details inside and out. They have thought of everything. I would highly recommend a two-night stay minimum to really take it all in. If you only booked one night I promise you will regret it and wish you had stayed 2 nights.
Our stay was short and sweet but absolutely perfect. My husband and I wanted a quiet place to celebrate our anniversary. When we ran across this place, it was exactly what we were looking for! The host, Chad, greeted us when we got there and gave us a quick tour. Everyone was very nice. We stayed in the Arbor room, which was breathtaking. You can tell a lot is custom done. The shower is so unique and relaxing. The heated floors are also really a really nice touch. The view from our room was stunning with everything covered in fresh snow. Youre only ten minutes from downtown, which made it convenient for us to grab dinner before heading there. Overall, it was an amazing stay, and I would highly recommend it if youre looking for that perfect quiet getaway.
Fascinating. We took a road trip with friend at the begining of August and while passing Sand Point we found this wonderful accomodation. Before we wanted to check into a best western but I was fully booked and suddenly we came across this place. We booked it only for a night. We went there were greeted nicely also by the 3 dogs. The room was really nice, especially the bathroom it was really big. The bed was comfy and the room had a cool western style. Also the garden was fascinating. In the morning we went on the boat and took a little padle through it. Location is excellent even if it seems a litte far from the town you take a short trip there only. Sadly we also had to leave then to Wyoming but I would definetely go here again.
The attention to detail is second to none. Truly the owners were inspired to create something very unique for their visitors. Their love for serving others outside this this hotel is also very evident in the pictures and art spread though out the building. May the LORD bless you and keep and make his face shine upon you and grant you peace!
What can we say except WOW!!!!! This property is absolutely breathtaking, with so much nature and wildlife around, you forget Downtown Sandpoint is just a 3 minute drive down the road! We stayed in the Arbor Room and were just blown away with how romantic it was. This property is just tucked away enough that we could see so many stars at night. So clean and we felt right at home. The staff was nothing but wonderful and welcoming the whole stay, we especially loved the doggies running around! We also had our first couple massage ever and our therapists Debbie and Amanda were amazing. This place is such a beautiful gem, and we will definitely be back in the future!
My wife and I went here for our anniversary in early December. We really had no idea what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The place is beautiful and the grounds were quite expansive. We found the entire weekend there to be relaxing and quiet which is what we wanted! The first night we stayed in the Grand Arbor room. The shower is pretty awesome. The room was quite large and quiet even though it’s on the main floor. There isn’t a place to hang out but it’s a great room to experience. The next. Ugh t we had the Kipling room upstairs. It was a lot smaller but we enjoyed it more. It was just more “warm” and comfortable plus the view outside of the mountains was epic.We didn’t eat here other than the breakfast. You definitely need a car as there isn’t anything nearby.
This is the most extraordinary B&B I have ever stayed at! A charming rustic work of art and service set on several beautiful acres. Reasonable too, especially if you book directly and not through 3rd parties. Breakfast is high quality continental. Staff are super and authentic.
The stay was beautiful. We stayed in the syringa suite. The bathroom is very small. And the hot tub is right outside the room. Which is awesome but awkward at the same time. The whole place has so much character I would say it’s more of an air bnb than a resort. The “breakfast” is toast, jam, yogurt, apple and a banana. The floors are heated which was amazing! Plenty of blankets and pillows- not enough towels. I wish they had a better lay out on the website of where the rooms are and what they are next too. Paying to check in early I think is to nickel and diming, offering complementary socks or slippers ( shoes off while inside) would be awesome. The feel is home away from home which is great but also meaning the place has quarks that need to be fixed. Amber bear in is similar to this feel but with a stay you get an actual home cooked breakfast and they offer a bonfire at night. I wouldn’t choose that room again ( it did look better in photos) there’s notes everywhere about if you use this make sure you do this - that’s to much when your paying to stay somewhere. I understand the concept but it needs to be revamped. The marketing is great but the reality is different. We met Chad and Jill. I’m not sure if they were hosts or owners. Chad is very friendly Jill very stand off.
I cannot say enough about Jill (the Inn keeper). My daughter and her new husband had reservations there for one night on a quick honeymoon trip. I was able to call Jill the night before and ask what I could do to make their room special. She was quick to call the local baker and asked them to make up a chocolate dipped strawberry tray and a berry lemon cake to have in the room for when they checked in. I really wanted to pay for a couples massage, but my daughter had already paid for it up front. Jill suggested I could leave the tip for the massages if I would like to do that. She even through in a complimentary bottle of champagne! She made everything seemless and had fantastic ideas! I cant thank her enough for making the evening special for my daughter and her new husband! Thank you Jill!!!
Stayed at Talus Rock on the way through Sandpoint. Nice location just out of town, but easy to find and get to restaurants. Very friendly staff and the hot tub was a real treat. Loved the king size bed (those are often tough to find). Our room (Rio) was well appointed.
What a magical time! Our room was absolutely enchanting and the massages were the best my husband and I have ever had. Fantastic hospitality with beautiful landscaping and mountain views! We are already planning our next stay.
The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. From the moment you walk in, it feels like home. Getting to walk around in my slippers, watch the sunrise over the mountains, and get an incredible massage were just some of the reasons I will continue to come back time and time again. Seriously, Ive never felt just as refreshed and relaxed after a trip as I was after staying here. So so so gorgeous and refreshing!!
My husband and I chose to celebrate our 30th anniversary at Talus this March. Communication pre-stay was top-notch, we ordered extras to include couples massage, private chef dinner & breakfast in bed. We were greeted outdoors by cute little dogs & inside staff with Welcome Home upon our arrival, what an amazing custom front door. We stayed in the Grand Arbor room and it was very nice & quiet, the bed was very comfortable, the custom 2 head rain shower was unique and beautiful. We had everything we needed in the room including coffee, wine glasses and even some chocolate kisses. The view overlooked the backyard with the natural ponds & pools, although it was all ice & snow covered it was still beautiful, I can only imagine the beauty in the summer. The massage was great, although 1 masseuse had their car break down, but the 1 that was there was able to accommodate us perfectly. Now, the dinner was the highlight of our stay! Chef Chris Arlo & his assistant (sorry dont remember her name) not only prepared our custom 7 course dinner in this interactive experience, but they entertained us with many stories. The only improvement that I could recommend is that we missed the entrance sign at the driveway and then maybe have another sign where to park, I know there was lots of snow, so maybe they were just buried. The other thing I wanted to mention is that although wine was included in our dinner, they dont have any other alcohol there for purchase, so bring your own. This was an experience well remember for our lifetime and will be sure to come back to enjoy again.
I travel often for both work and pleasure, and have stayed in many different places all over Idaho, Washington and Oregon. This B&B was by far one of the best experiences Ive had. The rooms are all so unique and charming. The owner and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and comfortable. I also loved the massage and breakfast in bed. Quite a peaceful and relaxing place to escape, and shut off when you need it. Thank you Heather and everyone for your amazing hospitality. We will be coming back for sure!
A decent stay in a lovely lodge. The rooms are comfortable and relaxing. The staff is friendly and professional. Friendly dogs roam unfettered. The drawbacks are the standard breakfast: coffee, juice, and either toast or bagel plus hard boiled eggs. Given the $400+/night cost and with nothing walkable close, this was a huge disappointment. Guests can order a lavish breakfast brought to the room at additional cost. Same is true for turndown, mint service. Also disappointing was no champagne or something to commemorate our anniversary. Lots of service options like massages available at additional cost. Perhaps my expectations were too high for our anniversary stay. There is nothing particular special to warrant staying here again. Nothing went wrong or was bad at all; I expected a real breakfast, perhaps a cocktail, sherry, or wine hour, and more things to do at the property. Neither a retreat nor a B&B and $400+/night is a lot for only a little.
Absolutely loved our stay even though it was a short visit. Found a gem at the very last minute on our way through!! Would come back and definitely recommend!! Only suggestion is to hire a photographer, the place is gorgeous and photos dont show it off🙂 Thanks for sharing your special place with us!
We stayed one night in the Grand Arbor room (the tree room). So we didnt use any of the extras offered or spend a lot of time on the property. We liked it and Im already making plans to go back. The room met my main requirements. The bed was comfortable, it had coffee and it was quiet. Also, the open concept tree shower and the view were both amazing. However, I think its important to know I would not use the words luxury or elegant in a description. Talus Rock is unique funky cozy artsy. Not luxury. It needs a fair amount of TLC, some deep cleaning, and it isnt a resort. Its more like an old school (pre airbnb) bed and breakfast. Which was fun in the morning. Hanging in the great room talking to other guests and the host. Im not sure about the word retreat either. It is relaxing and peaceful and if you book the extras and use more of the property, could maybe feel like a retreat. If youre not expecting luxury or looking for it then this is a great spot.
When we first got to Talus Rock, we explored the property, walked some trails through the woods, saw a giant frog in the pond (he was so cool), visited with the animals (dogs, chickens), and gawked at the goose who was about ready to lay her eggs. Our room, the Grande Arbor, was beyond amazing- the coolest place Ive slept in a long time. The view of the mountains made it perfect! From the ceiling, the tree shower, the GIANT jacuzzi, all the little details of the room- we were just so relaxed and content. It was the best way to spend our anniversary. Heather, the owner, was so sweet and lovely to be around, she made us feel so at home. The breakfast options to choose from were wonderful and there were even gluten free options. Youll love everything about your visit at Talus Rock! 💕
We spent 2 ngts here. Very relaxing. Enjoyed the spacious quiet property, with only the soothing sound of the frogs croaking to each other from the pond. Room was warm n comfortable at night, and cool in the day, as we like it. We were provided good healthy options for breakfast. Enjoyed the hottub. Loved the dogs too.
We heard from close friends that Talus Rock was amazing... We just stayed 2 nights and it absolutely met our expectations. All the rooms are beautifully decorated. From the moment you walk in you feel at home. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace visiting with another couple. The staff cleaned off our car both days as it had snowed. Heather was so loving and very accommodating. Erik and Ashley were very helpful as well. We loved meeting Billy too... What a special soul! We will be back. Thanks again!
Absolutely gorgeous property with warm comfortable amenities. The owners and employees are so kind and welcoming. All of the dogs running around is a huge bonus too! I would absolutely recommend booking a stay here. The views are wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing by the beautiful stone fireplace.
The lodge is absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed our 2 night stay. Make sure to review the extras offered as my wife thoroughly enjoyed the professional massage and the breakfast in bed with mimosas. There is also a large hot tub and sauna here and a pool for the warmer months. We would highly recommend a getaway here!
My husband and I spent a weekend celebrating our anniversary earlier this month at Talus Rock and loved it. I cant say enough good things about the customer service (everyone was just lovely and so very helpful!), the couples massage (wonderful!), the grounds (beautiful views--I cant wait to see the scenery in the summer as well!) and the room (the Grand Arbor is amazing!!). We will definitely be back.
Wonderful place! We happened upon it and spent 2 nights after our camping trip across MT and ID in the luxurious master suite. We got massages and chocolate covered strawberries, and enjoyed meeting all the Staff and dogs. They were all great! We also received spot on dinner recommendations. We will be back!
My colleagues and I wanted something different for our annual work party so decided to do the murder mystery at Talus Rock Retreat. What a fun night!! From beginning to end, we felt glamorous and well taken care of. The catering from Arlo’s restaurant was 5-star as well. Whether it be with family or friends or colleagues I would definitely recommend switching up the usual party and spicing it up with a murder mystery dinner.
We spent our honeymoon at Talus Rock and it was amazing! We stayed 2 nights in the Arbor room which was absolutely beautiful. Huge jetted tub in our room with a shower that was in the form of a large tree. Vaulted cathedral ceiling with copper inlay. Heather was so wonderful and welcoming. The staff went out of their way to make it really special for us. We even got the best massages in town by Heidi and Lisa both excellent therapists. They had flower petals in our room with a lighted candle walkway beautiful Roses, champagne and for a special request they brought us breakfast in bed which was phenomenal!! Highly recommend the extra add on for that! The scenery is gorgeous. Everything about this place is magical. A definite must see.
The hosts at Talus were wonderful. We were welcomed when we arrived and shown the lovely property. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Each morning we were welcomed with coffee and a delicious breakfast along with some activities close by that were available to do. The location of the property was wonderful. Close to some hiking trails and close to the town center as well. The little hideaway cabin was a perfect spot on the property. It was secluded and offered some privacy while still being able to socialize with the other visitors and enjoy the property. The hideaway was beautiful and allowed us enough comfortable spots to hang out both inside and out. All of our needs were well taken care of. The fire pit was a great addition and we loved the little fireplace on the inside of the cabin. Panda, the property dog, was very sweet and showed our dog around the property. The house and the property were absolutely beautiful, the people were really nice and welcoming and we cannot wait to visit again. We were really happy to have a place as welcoming to us as they were to our dog.
I travel a lot for work and have stayed in countless resorts, hotels, and bed and breakfasts across the United States; Talus Rock was easily my best experience yet! Whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway or an outdoor activity filled trip, youre staying at the right spot. The retreat is absolutely breathtaking and the staff was just as amazing. A huge thank you to Heather and all other staff for taking such great care of us throughout our three night stay! Will absolutely be back.
We recently hosted a weekend work retreat for a gaming company at Talus Rock. The facility could not have been more perfect and it was exactly what we were looking for. The retreat center itself had excellent kitchen facilities, plenty of tables for board games and meetings, a perfect outdoor space for setting up catering outside, and beautiful rooms. The grounds are very special and it is obvious a lot of care goes into the facility. Also plenty of parking and great location. The staff was lovely to work with, all kind, available, and helpful. Check out and in was extremely easy We also booked a murder mystery event and the chef was very kind and Chairis (spelled wrong) was fabulous and many of the attendees said the murder mystery was their favorite part of the retreat. They also organized a nice scavenger hunt to explore downtown. We are really grateful to Talus Rock, it was exactly what was needed after a long time of not being able to gather and finally with everyone vaccinated we were able to celebrate being together at this remarkable facility.
My husband and I took a wonderful road trip to North Idaho. In planning our trip, my husband happened to come across Talus Rock. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to stay there, since it was not on Lake Pend Oreille. He spoke to Heather, the owner, and was convinced by her charm and information about Sandpoint that we should stay there. When you pull up to Talus Rock and you feel like you’ve been swept away to another world. The place is like a castle. All the rooms are incredible - intricately and carefully designed. We stayed in the Grand Arbor room with a beautiful copper ceiling (especially when lighting the ceiling); amazing views of the mountains and grounds; a tree shower and Jacuzzi tub for two. Everyone there made us feel comfortable and welcomed. They offered breakfast, laundry services, and allowed our dog to stay too. It’s very peaceful and serene. Highly recommend Talus Rock!
Beautiful location! Stunning property! Lovely staff! I look forward to another visit soon! Thank you for making our stay so amazing!! Loved it!
We had the most amazing two night stay at Talus Rock Resort. The moment we arrived it felt like home and Heather and staff are caring, loving, accommodating and gracious host. We honestly felt as if we had stayed with a very close family member who just so happened to have an amazingly wonderful home in the heavenly setting. We cant wait to go back.
Where else can you stay in a gorgeous mansion--surrounded by beautiful vegetation and a to-die-for view out its back windows--as an Airbnb thats so reasonably priced? We only wish could have stayed several more nights. The staff were so warm and caring, the accommodations spotless, and appreciated the little house dogs. We felt right at home immediately. Love what the familys vision is for this place and only too happy to be able to support it through lodging there.
Talus Rock Retreat is a spectacular venue for weddings and family gatherings! Could not have asked for a more beautiful location for our wedding. The hosts / inn keepers (Alex and Brian) were extremely accommodating and always kept us up to date during the planning process. We had family flying in from both sides of the country and everyone was blown away with the cleanliness and relaxing atmosphere. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming to all guests. My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing massage right in our room the morning of our wedding ceremony. Each room has a unique vibe and excellent views of the surrounding mountains and forest landscape. We were even lucky enough to have two moose on the property during our ceremony! You really cant go wrong at Talus Rock whether you are staying for a night or for the whole weekend. Counting down the days until we get to stay again!
First thing when we arrived, our room was upgraded for a very fair price after other guests changed plans. Staff was super friendly and helpful! There was a real sense of peace there and the view was great in the morning! We had the couples massage and breakfast was good. With the exception of the occasional train at night, it is a highly recommended spot to rest and recharge, even in the winter!
Heather and her staff were fantastic hosts! The lodge was gorgeous, the rooms were incredible, and the breakfast blew away anything you’re going to find at a Holiday Inn! We skiied at Schweitzer both days we were here, which was perfect given that the mountain was less than 30 minutes away from the lodge, and the lodge was about half the price of even a modest condo on the mountain. This is absolutely a place we’ll make a return trip to!
This place is a haven. My husband surprised me with a one-night stay here and we liked it so much that we turned our one-night into a little weekend getaway :) It was truly more peaceful and beautiful than we could have ever expected! Heather (the owner) and the staff are by far some of the most hospitable people I have ever met. We cant wait to get back for a visit! If youre considering staying here, dont hesitate. It will become a haven for you too!
The staff was great - friendly, there when I needed them and left me be as I wanted. I loved the eclectic décor with accents from around the world. The colors and high ceilings and unique design lent itself to a feeling of great nourishment and serenity. I especially loved the big fireplace at night with the quiet, unassuming dog to keep me company. The location is perfect, close to the city and on enough land to feel I was away from it all.
This was an exceptional experience. The greeting, the room (suite), the ambiance, the attention to detail. .... just excellent.Thank you and I look forward to staying again soon!
Its not truly possible to write a description of how blessed it is to stay at Talus Rock Retreat on occasion. Even though we are only 50 south of Talus we try as often as we can to find a reason to stay there. And once again our stay this past weekend was awesome.Heather Pedersen, owner, has always gone out of her way to make our stay beyond comfortable. She and her staff are top notch. So, I just described the service, but what about the amenities? This is the most beautifully crafted home I have ever seen. There is always something new to learn or see when walking around the home or the property. Such a peaceful, relaxing retreat of the soul.Thank you, once again for all you do for us.
Staying at Talus Rock was a truly unforgettable experience! It is tranquil and relaxing with beautiful grounds. Heather and Bruce, the owners, are warm, unique, and fascinating people who are devoted to their mission of making the world a better place and welcoming each visitor.Their staff are delightful as well as are there five little furry pets!
This is the most beautiful, unique, bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night, and it was perfect. Thank you for the high quality service and kindness from the staff!
One of the best B&B experiences weve had!!! The location is peaceful, quiet and breathtaking amidst the mountains, yet youre only 10 minutes from Sandpoint. The care takers were wonderful- very gracious, unassuming and engaging! We really enjoyed interacting with them and found they truly care about people. The facility is a treasure hunt- so many unique features and decorations to discover that are high quality and custom built. The food is also delicious, our tofu breakfast burrito is one of the best weve ever had! Strongly recommend Talus Rock if your looking for a high-end experience.
The most amazing place to stay, the staff was absolutely friendly very open. The rooms are beautiful the acreage that is built on is gorgeous it is a good place to go if you want to get away. They have a sauna and a hot tub and they cook you breakfast in the morning.
Just wanted to say what a lovely time my wife and I had with you last weekend at your fabulous retreat! We werent sure what to expect, but got way more out of our visit than we could have possibly imagined. You have created something super special with Talus Rock, and we will certainly be recommending your retreat and returning ourselves. You are far more than a place to stay, youre more like a play to be. Couldnt be happier. Thanks for a fantastic experience! If you need a place to recharge your batteries, get some rest, be close to nature and meet some great people you couldnt find a better spot. Highly recommend Talus Rock Retreat!
We spent the weekend at Talus Rock Retreat and it is one of the most beautiful and restful places I have ever stayed. In a B&B style, the staff and owners are friendly, and the restfulness of the surroundings are unsurpassed. You can sit by the fireplace and read a book, hike on the nature trails, or chat with the other guests or staff.
We stayed here for a night en route to Walla Walla after biking 150 miles, we were looking for a nice spot to relax and found it! Only 2.5 mi from town (easy bike ride), beautiful setting. Breakfast was amazing and made from scratch w. Eggs from the hens on the property. Nice big hot tub, staff great!
The setting is beautiful with views of the Cabinet mountains and surrounding forests. Even though youre close to Sandpoint, you feel as if youve escaped. Each room is unique and beautiful. The grounds have walking paths through the woods, a paddle boat for the pond, a hot tub, a small pool, and a patio. The main living room has a roaring fireplace, comfortable furniture youll sink in to, books, board games, a guitar, and plenty of tea. We were greeted with delicious omelettes, granola, fruit, and coffee for breakfast. It was a memorable weekend.
Absolutely the BEST B&B we have ever been to! I would give more stars if they had more to give! This is a wonderful place for couples to get away and regroup and focus on each other. Also a fantastic venue for a small wedding and rehearsal dinner site. Having the spa treatments available and food service on site is a big plus for us! I have informed my adult children where they are going to get married:)
Where to start - it was all so wonderful. Bed & breakfasts can be hit or miss, and this is one of the biggest hits that I can recall. The property is perfectly situated so that you feel like youre nestled in the woods. We walked in to a wonderful greeting and introduction to the house & grounds. Heather was warm and inviting, and made you feel like you were part of the family. Throughout the stay, she went out of her way to answer our questions, lead us to great places in and out of town, and to simply allow us to enjoy the house and grounds at our leisure. The house was built with attention to every detail. There really isnt a white wall in the place. Most importantly, Heather made the stay incredibly special. She is an amazing and gracious person who does interesting and important things with her life. We will never stay elsewhere in Sandpoint, and will certainly make a special trip back, just to enjoy the peace and warmth of Talus Rock.
We have 2 more nights at this lovely Bed & Breakfast, Retreat! Brian, Manager has been very helpful and considerate, he sure is involved! He cooked a fabulous breakfast with 2 variations of Quiche made with fresh eggs from the chickens out back, tomatoes from their garden as well as strawberries and blueberries, also from their garden! Sourdough pancakes, fresh coffee, granola and so much more, then he does the dishes by hand and starts cleaning the rooms!Talus RR is beautiful! A 1 mile walk through the forest, a pond with paddle boats, several cabins as well as uniquely beautiful rooms! Very clean and comfortable, quirky and fun!Not to miss mentioning, the owners do mission, charitable work worldwide.
Everything about this B&B is absolutely wonderful. Our host, Heather, as well as the other staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The house and property are absolutely stunning. Everywhere you turn there are little details that pop out at you. We cant wait to come back again! And to top it off part the money spent there goes to help impoverished children around the world!
I had a fantastic stay at Talus Rock. The hosts were gracious and warm and made me feel like I was visiting old friends. The rooms and living space are warm and beautifully decorated. I would return in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone wanting to get away to relax off the beaten path.
My words wont really do Talus Rock justice. Incredible Weekend. My non-profit chose Talus rock for our team retreat this year and im so glad we did. Itsbeautiful, comfortable, and serene. The family and staff are kind, engaging, interesting, and positive. Every one of us enjoyed our own private posh room, each with its own atmosphere. The atmosphere is luxurious and relaxing. It was the perfect place for us to relax and get away while getting a great deal of work done.It is tucked away in secluded opening in the woods. Its close to town but feels far away. It really is like a childhood dream - the impossible mansion full of art, beauty, and positivity. Heather, et al are genuine, good, caring people. Interesting, humble and just the kind of people who I want to spend time around and do business with.we booked for next year before we left. I know I speak for all of us when I say we are excited to return.
Romance of the RockIn medieval terms, romance was a term used to describe stories of adventure and mystery. From the moment one enters the forest of this stunning estate, there is a feeling of peace and beauty; a sense of wonder. This feeling only grows as you approach the home and walk about within. The rooms are comfortable and the innkeepers are the most hospitable you will find. We felt like family at once. And built of wood and stone, this place is solid, through and through...no creaky floors here. The breakfast is great. If possible, I highly recommend the Nooma Expanse room; an absolutely brilliant way to spend a few days away from it all. And its only just a few minutes from town, but you feel as if you are miles away from anybody.
We booked the Nooma Escape for our honeymoon and over-all was a great experience. The grounds were amazingly beautiful. We poured a glass of champagne and walked around and enjoyed the views and the chickens! Measle and Sprout were the cutest little puppers and wanted to take Measle home with us. We loved waking up to a complimentary breakfast with coffee. The Nooma Theater was great! We will definitely be back to discover the other rooms at the retreat.I chose 4/5 starts just due to cleanliness and the Romance Package I purchased. Added $125 for the package which included paper roses on the bed and a $15 bottle of champagne and some Hersheys kisses and some LED candles? I mean.. Ok. It was cute I guess. They DID bring down a vase with some real roses afterwards. There was also some broken glass all over the inside of the ice dispenser probably from the tenants before and beard clippings all over the master bath sink. Makes me think they didnt take as much care into cleaning. I ended up cleaning the sink myself. They cleaned the glass out of the freezer, but didnt matter because there was no water going to the fridge so no ice/filtered water. Ice trays were provided. All in all, it was VERY easy to look past the issues because of all the other amenities and beauty of Talus Rock. Again, we will be back there. At least just to snuggle with Measle! ;)
My now husband and I got married august 30th 2017 and it was perfect. Its was so beautiful, scenic, chic, intimate, and the people who run the Talus Rock are welcoming. The lady who performs the ceremony was fantastic and sweet. Best to get married im so happy we chose this venue. We Cant wait for our anniversary were definitely coming back!
This is easily the most luxurious bed and breakfast Ive ever stayed in. The grounds are fantastic. The rooms are beautiful. And the staff is helpful and effecient. Heather was very kind and generous.
A beautiful nature resort. Everything in the building from the ornate carved wooden door to stonework to the ironwork was crafted with love. You will enjoy exploring the house and discovering the little treasures hidden around the house. My favorite is the singing bowl.
Amazing grounds and scenery.Although a few things werent perfect when we arrived, Heather did everything possible to make sure we had a great experience.Highly recommend!
This was our first time going to Talus Rock. It so such a quiet and homey stay. Staff is very supportive and willing to do anything. They even make you breakfast! Thank you for allowing us in your home
Oh my heck! I am in love with this place. You really have to be here to experience it. This place is gorgeous but you feel at home. No hotel feel at all. I love that about this place and the owner Heather, treats you like family. I need a Talus Rock in every city I visit. Dang it Talus Rock, now Im spoiled.
I had the great pleasure of staying at The Talus Rock Retreat for my R&R days while on a 30 day wildfire assignment. Heather and the rest of the Pedersen family went to great lengths to make me feel at home and a part of the family during my time with them. The accommodations at the Retreat are superb, I am looking forward to staying with them again when the opportunity arises.
I got married here and it was the most beautiful experience Ive ever had. My whole family stayed in the house together and the staff felt like they were part of the family. I cant wait to go back for our anniversary!
Place is gorgeous. My out of town clients will stay there. They have nothing but high praises for the service and rooms.
Absolutely the worst experience. I had a booking for December I made reservations in October and I had canceled in October and do to my grandmother‘s passing and unforeseen events in my family, I had canceled a week after reserving. There was no money was taken from me and I have both emailed and called talus rock and they sent me a cancellation email and I thought that it was all said and done. Come this last weekend, they had charged me $600 in November a whole month after canceling my reservation. There was no warning or anything, therefore putting my account in a negative balance as a month had gone by and when I first booked, they never took money out, so I used the money I had set aside, for family matters..I called and spoke with Ashley who stated they PRIMARILY do not refund, but she said she would make an exception and refund me the full amount I had to just cancel with Travelocity which I proceeded to do. I get a hold of Travelocity and they get a hold of talus rock proceed to make the cancellations. Ashley then proceeded to say she can only refund me half because she did not realize what room I had booked before stating that she would refund me the full amount. Instead, she offered me half the price and the gift card to come and stay with them. Of course this was very upsetting after being told that I would have been refunded the complete 600 amount and then to be told that that was not going to happen was especially upsetting particularly right after my grandmother‘s passing and being in a pinch financially. I guarantee I will not be using my gift card to them as they did not help me even though they had an entire month and a half to get that room booked for two nights in December. I understand their policy but when I was promised a refund due to a one time exception I was expected to receive that refund in full. I am very disappointed with this place and I never even got to stay there. Would not recommend.
The room I stayed in had quite a bad ant problem. They were large ants and seemed to crawl out of the wall. I even caught a few as they crawled up the bed. This definitely made my stay less enjoyable than it would have otherwise been. Breakfast was ok but did not include some of the things they advertise such as greek yogurt.
Stayed here last night for a last minute date night- super cute! Spacious, clean rooms, wonderful staff, and way more interesting than a typical hotel. We will definitely visit again!
Talus Rock Resort is beautiful and very accommodating. We got massages and later in the evening we had a personal chef. We stayed 2 nights and loved it!
It was a very convienent get away. Beatiful home. Smaller than we thought but very quiet. More of a fancy airbnb than a resort and a bit over priced. Cool small trails. Paddleboat looked cool but my husband wont get near leaches. Breakfast was good.
Amazing place. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable stay in a beautiful house with wonderful scenery. I don’t know how anyone could leave a bad review!
This BNB is absolutely wonderful. The staff was more than amazing and made a wonderful breakfast in the mornjng. We got married here and the staff went above and beyond. The price of the place was more Than reasonable, and we plan on going back for a our one year anniversary.
Thanks for a wonderful stay! Beautiful setting and wonderful breakfast. We truly enjoyed it and plan on returning next year! Loved all the interesting and unique features!
We never stayed there, but we’re looking forward to it. . We had room reservations for August 13, and had to cancel due to our trip getting canceled due to the Covid epidemic. No refund. Money gone. Be careful when you book. The other 6 places we booked on this trip gave us a full refund.
Beautiful place definitely breathtaking peaceful. We werent hungry for breakfast,so no comments, there. Friendly staff everything care free. Nice room. However could not get the, room thermometer to adjust or turn off. So it was set at 69 but went up to 77 so we overheated. They have great information of the area in the rooms however it also states in the room in their book their mission statement. And was disappointed to,see the, majority,of the, help, they do goes,to India Indonesia and other countries. No where does,it say that they help,Americans. Im all, about helping America, first. Granted, they help alot,of,orphans but not, from America. Here in America we have homeless, kids orphans homeless, vet who fought for our freedom and yet too many missionaries helping other countries. I find true sadness and, heartache in this. I know too many, vets who cant, get, proper medical yet alone some being denied pay. Our retired and,or disabled military, our homeless, unwanted, children in America...why dont they come, first? To me if you cant help the country you live in then go live in the countries you prefer to help.
Wow! Talus Rock Retreat is a very unique experience! The entire Inn is very unique. Very private and well-appointed rooms. The innkeepers and excellent food also make it a very memorable experience. Highly recommended!
BE VERY CAREFUL, if you book a reservation and have to cancel for any reason Talus Rock Retreat will try to charge your credit card for the ENTIRE amount of your stay. I cancelled 8 days before I had planned on staying there and Talus Rock Retreat tried to keep over $550.00. On top of everything Talus Rock Retreat tries to justify their thievery by saying they will donate your money to a Christian charity, Stealing is stealing........Period.It might be a beautiful place to stay, I just truly question their business practices.
Beware : Worst experience and regret falling for fake online advertising/ reviews (photos attached)Went to this resort to spend 3 days/nights with family seeing nice reviews and photos online. We drove from Seattle to Sandpoint during winter to get stuck in this rat hole. The place is nothing like what they promote online and in reviews. We booked 3 nights in their Syringa suite (which was recommended when I called them a week back. They mentioned they have 2 suites with kitchen - Syringa and Nooma and recommended Syringa for a family stay). Realized that we are trapped the moment we entered their place (I have attached all the photos). The room was more like a garage space converted to a room. Room door opens directly to the dining/reception area. Whole suite was messy and the oven even had left over burnt food particles in it. Bathrooms were gross and broken walls had flies and insects coming out.The dishwasher literally teared open with wires hanging out and we were worried about the safety of our puppy and kid. The toaster was no better than a dirty rusty trash can.The bedroom in the suite was so tiny and suffocating. The tiny little wiggly curtains provide no privacy from the parking lot just outside.I had contacted the customer care person over the phone (you are your own during night. There is no receptionist) and explained all the issues. We requested to talk to the owner but to no avail as we wanted to check-out the next day as well and escape from there. Later the text support offered us another Nooma room with a common area from next day. Our family was so upset and disappointed and didn’t want to spend our Christmasin a place where we experienced such a disaster (paying close to 400$ a night). We declined the offer and checked-out the next day sharing all the photos and issues with the manager onsite in the morning after spending a suffocating little bedroom.. They were generous enough to offer to send a handyman and electrician (and carpenter may be) to the room to fix the issues. We declined the offer to stay in a construction zone during Christmas and walked away. They did not provide a refund and declined to connect us to the owner saying she is no longer managing operations.Still wondering how they are getting 4 star status and promoting this place as a resort in travel sites. Do yourself a favor staying away from this place and saving your hard earned money.
Great place for a huge family or group of friends going on vacation. Close to the ski resort and very friendly staff and people living there. They have 3 amazing dogs! I miss them already.
Very serene. Great atmosphere beautiful people , beautiful scenery, people that love their mission in life , the rustic cabin is what drew us to this amazing spot thank you so much for the warm hospitality the Benjamins
Absolutely beautiful, quaint Paradise. Amazing fresh breakfast cooked for us, the views, nature, and various cabins on the property provide a harmonious setting.
What a great place and I will recommend to anyone I know staying in Idaho. I look forward to coming back next time we drive through.
This is a must do place to stay for a bed and breakfast weekend (or longer) in Sandpoint, ID. The house and grounds are spectacular, the hosts are caring & kind, and accommodations are very comfortable. Dont miss this one.
Always greeted with love and smiling faces... a truly magical place. If you are debating the stay... Book It! You will not be disappointed! Thank you for the love Talus Rock Retreat!
We stayed here for my b-day . We had a wonderful time. Loved the staff. Treated us like family . We will definitely be back!!
Nothing in Northern Idaho could match the elegance and beauty of this B&B. The rates are right in line with top-of-the-line facilities but the quality and the quaint town of Sandpoint means that the VALUE is more than might be expected. Nothing but great things to say……. visit and youll understand.
Absolutely magical place with amazing people on the most spectacular property! And they are dog friendly. My pup and I felt right at home. We will be back!
The staff were friendly, the location lovely, and the facilities everything we could have hoped for! Our dogs lived the hike- We give it two thumbs (and two paws) up!
Made reservations. Got charged the entire amount that day (30 days + in advance. Had my brother die and needed the cancellation. They argued with me on three phone calls. Bottom line is that they REFUSE to cancel and or refund the money.UNBELIEVABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PISSPOOR BUSINESS SENSE.Theyre going to gouge money from me that I need to get to my family.NEVER AGAIN DOING BUSINESS WITH THEESE PEOPLE!
Dont go there if youre elderly there are way too many steps like everywhere danger of falling everywhere we are older we told them that If youre allergic to dogs dont go in-and-out there they are both in-and-out And Like 30 steps plus to get to the massage area the massage was fantastic but definitely not for The best place if you have allergies
Owner is so sweet and amazing! Every room is beautiful and the baths are great. The land is beautifully kept and everything is kept pristine.
Great little getaway... We have visited several times but this time we brought our daughter and her friend. 🙏 🌲❤🤗🐈🚴
We had a wonderful experience staying here for our babymoon. Close to Sandpoint but still in the trees, wonderfully helpful staff, luxurious but not stuffy: great.
One of the very best places I have had the pleasure of visiting. I go there as often as possible. Between the friends, family and the staff at Talus Rock there IS no better place to stay.
We stayed 2 nights, & were well taken care of. The staff was very attentive, providing all that we needed. We will go back!!
Wonderfully peaceful and romantic. Perfect weekend getaway. The resident dogs are awesome, too!
It is beautiful and relaxing. Super nice owners who pay close attention to details and their quests. I will definitely come back!
This is a magical place with very attentive and caring staff. We truly loved our stay here and look forward to coming again.
My husband and I have stayed at Talus Rock multiple times and enjoyed it very much!
Beautiful place. Great staff. Dont appreciate the fact that they donate to non-Americans such as people of India. America needs help first.
Had amazing wedding photos here! Extremely relaxing, Serene, and beautiful. Had a great time.
Fantastic view, great backyard and updated appliances. Decorations are a bit eclectic but interesting.
