This bar is very unassuming from the outside and you would never know what you were getting into once you step inside. The layout is unique and the openness makes it feel very communal and the best way possible. Everyone is very friendly and kind and it attracts some of the best people like Disco Debbie! it is a fabulous spot for karaoke and a must especially on a Monday night.
Staff inside was cool and the place is also nice. The bouncer was just plain rude and aggressive. Tried to come up with some fake excuses to not let some of us in, looked like he was trying to get a bribe. Hope the managers find someone more welcoming, since it’s a fun place not jail lol
Small little place is nice, feels good. Owner just needs to hire different DJ, too much of the same music, DJ looks like 28 years old, he plays too much 80s music, too mch HipHop, This place will be better if DJ will play mixed music, a bit of everything I would say, only tow types of music for 5 hours...I was there two saturdays ago, I got bored after listening to same type of music. I cant believe manager or owner doesnt pay attention to. I feel bad becasue the place is nice, just needs attention to this detail.
Great place to go dancing, I loved the ambiance. However they don’t serve food only drinks, and the DJ doesn’t sync his music, so there was a constant interference going to the next song. Still I have fun and will definitely go back there.
Decent club with good music and nice staff. Bouncers are really nice and the bartenders are good at what they do. I love hanging out at the room and its a fun place to dance. Kinda hard to find, you gotta go around the back of truxtons and the catalina club to find it and theres no sign just a couple bouncers. Worth a visit.
Actually a cool place. I took off 2 stars because its a younger crowd, not that I got out clubbing often, and its small so depending on what time you get there you have to wait in line. The music was surprisingly good if you like a little current hip hop/r&b mixed with old school.
Oh man oh man. The DJ is a hot mess, music is alright considering diversity of the crowd but DJ has no transition skills whats so ever! Song will STOP very sudden, new song will START. If you arent bothered by small things like such then youll be ok. Parking is fair $10 when you compare to competitors near by. Im opened to visiting again eventually.
If you’re from outta town and staying in Venice or Santa Monica this is a cool night spot. They play old school R&B and rap but in a mixed pop feel. The drinks are overpriced and the bar is small but it has a nightclub feel on the weekends.
I was told to take off my hat before going in and was told I would be able to pick it up off the roof when I was done. I had a great time but when I left my hat wasnt there. We raised it with the bouncers who had said it would still be there and we got nothing. Thankfully, Steve understood the issue and compensated us for the hat. I know its a hat and its not a big deal, but when youre guaranteed that your belongings will be fine, you expect them to be. and when they arent anywhere to be found when you come back for them obviously youre gonna try and figure out what happened. Please check the security footage if you even have a camera, cuz Id love to know what happened to my hat. To all your bouncers, hire new ones. Steve was the only one that helped. That guy deserves a raise.Seriously, not some drunk fool. This place makes guarantees that it cant keep, especially when it comes to your items. Just be wise.
On a Friday night this place is great. They play old school hip hop, which is hard to find now a days. The only thing is, its a small venue. So its pretty tight in there when they hit capacity.
I asked to have a beer in a pint glass and was told that The Room does not serve beer in pint glasses after I saw pint glasses on the bar. Is this a thing that I dont know about? HahaWent out to this spot last night. Had originally planned on going to Club 54 out in Pasadena, but the reviews on here had me curious and intrigued lol.To start off, this venue is very hidden, its in a dark alley way behind an adult store (random?? lol.). My buddy and I stood in the wrong line for about 10 mins. because we werent exactly sure where it was, I would recommend asking around to avoid the adventure lol.We got there at around 10:30 so we didnt have to pay a cover, not sure if they charge one later in the night. I like how its small, private, and dimly lit. It reminds me a little bit of The Crosby that used to be in Santa Ana, but this has an underground element on top of that. This is a mixed crowd but also a more mature crowd (age range probably around late 20s to early 30s). Everyone is very friendly and proper, which is weird for me to experience being so used to Orange County where mostly everyone has a stick up their ass lol!!Very low key and kick back to begin the night, mostly reggae and old school r&b was played. Shortly after 11:00 thats where the turn up began to be real!!! lol. The DJ was mixing the best of 90s hip-hop and todays hip-hop, had me super hyped lol. I like how everyone just likes to dance and have a good time, dont have to deal with any bs here. For drinks we ended up trying the pisco punch. Now Im not a fan of sweet drinks, it messes with my stomach but this drink was very tasty. The bartender messed up our order so we ended up getting 6 glasses and 4 shots of this drink for only $24.00, steal!!! lol.Overall I had a great time at this spot. I gave this 4 stars only because we didnt spend the whole night here so I could only rate it a 5 based off a full nights experience (Ended up leaving up to go to Zanzibar, which was definitely a mistake! lol.) Would definitely want to come back here with a good group of friends and enjoy a whole night!
Bartenders were very friendly and courteous - the music here can be wildly random haha but it’s all in good fun
Decent drinks and occasionally good music if youre into old school hip hop. Crowd these days consists primarily of millennials that knock stuff over when theyre dancing. Wouldnt choose to go back on my own, but would for someones birthday or celebration.
I really, REALLY enjoyed the music on the Saturday night I went. However, the more I enjoyed the music the sweatier I got! I wanted to dance the whole night but I opted out of dehydrating from the sweat and alcohol. With that said, the music was really the only thing I enjoyed. The drinks were so so and a bit over priced for the quality. The place is very small. The whole place is dark, including the restroom! I couldnt check if I sweated out any of my make-up, which didnt really matter since you couldnt see anyones face very well.If I had no other options, I would definitely come back here to listen to some great music and dance. Hey, I might just make it my cardio workout for the day! Ill share a little secret, well not so secret if you have been, there is a section on the dance floor where the air blows perfectly when the AC is on. I tried to stick to that area the whole time I was there. #FunTimes #SweatyTimes
Ive come here on several occasions to celebrate birthdays and to hang out with friends.Always packed full of people. No room to dance. Drinks are overpriced. Even if you reserve a booth, people you dont know seem to find their way in.. The room gets super hot, which is also frustrating..
I go there every Wednesday and the people are always good looking, the DJ is always playing the best music and the vibe is really good. It took me longer to find it the first time then it took getting in. But heres the hint: ENTER THRU THE PARKING LOT. The drinks were good and the booths along the floor were perfect for chillin but staying part of the party, while the corner booths were good for having your own party inside the party...
Only club vibe on the Westside. Great after 11pm when everything else is closed. Ignore the other reviews about bad decor or no food. Eat early and come to dance- this isn’t the met gala. Get rekt, move your body, and go home with a stranger.
..A friend of mines reserved a table at this hell hole and was told in the email that someone needs to be there by 10pm and the whole party needs to be there by 10:30 or the table will be sold. Our whole party was there by 10:30, give or take a few mines and when we tried to procure our table we were told that it had been sold. I can understand not keeping the table and reserve all night but it wasnt like we strolled in at 11:30pm expecting our table to still be free, it was 15 mins give or take. Mind you this was a rainy day and traffic and parking is horrid on a regular day so a grace period could have been granted or at least a courtesy call OR they could of just allowed us our entry!!Nope...just a you missed it have a great day....We were told we could wait in line and pay the cover because they were at capacity. Meanwhile the bouncers are letting in girls and guys who paid them off. I expect this scene in Hollywood or even DTLA but SAMO....really?Overall would recommend reserving a table here. If you want just come early (9pm) and poach a table from a late comer. The music wasnt even that great (EDM type bs)Also parking is scarce, they do have valet but it fills up pretty quick.Absurd policies, annoying club politics, crooked bouncers.....Ummm I would expect that in Hollywood, but Santa Monica is supposed to be above that. Not worth it.
Dark, small, intimate. Not great decor, got loud and too dark after 11pm. Long lines to get back in, and no food available anywhere within walking distance, after 8-9pm
A bit expensive. but a great club with hip hop sound. something small local.
Loved the outdoor seating, all the GF options and the view! The nachos are top notch and everything else we got we loved too!
One of the best bars in Santa Monica, good DJs on the weekends, it does get crowded though, but always a good time.
What a great place for a first date, where you can just have you own room! but inside of a club! the drinks are super tasty and in price, the bartender is nice and he makes the cocktails with all the passion!
Love this small unassuming dance club. The Saturday night music is my fav. Come early and avoid the lines:) The staff is super nice!
Dj is great if you’re 40+, otherwise probably avoid
Total crap hole.Bouncers are schmucks. Music was only ok.When asked to speak with a manager we waited 30 minutes. Finally left. Closed tab and left $.01 tip. Then when I got the bill it had a much much higher amount charged.Disputed charge and wont be back.
Drinks are over priced, and are 90% ice. They don’t have the best selection of cocktails. Bathrooms were absolutely disgusting with no soap. Drinks were very weak.
Cool little downstairs bar and dance club. Good drinks and nice ambiance
Younger, eclectic crowd. Smoke pit offers a respite from the dance floor/bar for chatting. Also it has a selfie cam. So theres that.
If I could rate it 0 stars I would. If you like to party with ratchet white people, then this is the place to be. I will not be returning. What kind of bar does not have Patron??? or Ciroc??
Not as good as the Hollywood location. Lots of young, college adults. Place was packed on a Saturday night and the drinks are overpriced for the venue type.
I had a bad experience with one of the bartenders but the manager straightened it out and some. I was really against going back to this place but now that I spoke to the manager I feel they really care for their customers and would go back.
The Room is Always busy..The 🍸🍹are good and the bartender are good..the crowd is Santa Monica People..sometimes a little too young..the bouncers are great
They have drinks and good speakers blasting music.Cool place to chill with your friends.
Always a great dance floor with killer DJs, incredible service by Nikki and Aaron. Why arent you there on Saturday night?
Fun music, affordable drinks, nice staff. Im sure well be back.
We party out here at least once in a month. Entry is free and great music !
Terrible bar. May look swanky, but they have the most pitiful selection of liquors Ive ever seen. Actually.
Easy to find and get into, but its really crowded inside. No real dance floor.
Friday and Saturday nights turn into an awesome sweaty hip-hop party, which is rare on the west side
Great place.. Nice atmosphere. Lots of fun and EYE candy. 😉
It kind of small bt staff is friendly dance floor ok
Amazing place.. I just loved it.. play really good music...
Ive been to better clubs. This feels like a dingy basement. $100 or so for a table.
Had fun! a good place to go if you are tourist
Great place to end the night. The drinks are really expensive though..
Every time I go here it’s either dead or they’re playing music that does not match the vibe.
Some of the best music youll hear anywhere! Dance away!
Only attended the venue for Tiki classes but found it to be enjoyable.
Too dark, very expensive and bad tasting cocktails
If you are looking for a dive bar in Santa Monica this is it. Be aware you have to enter from the carpark.
Theres a long line to get in but its really fun once inside!
It is a room... The one problem is it is too loud to have a reasonable conversation ft my
Nice niche spot, really enjoy the vibe.
Sexy space a secret watering hole. We loved it.
Plenty of bar staff amd security. Live music and dance floor.
Got sloppy drunk here, danced my ass off to good music. Five stars.
Love the place , great music, great vibe, and all in all just great
Good music and atmosphere, but the line is long
Great music and always full of awesome people
This is one of my favorite place in santa Monica. Music is always lit!
Its a nice place for a younger crowd.
Not the best selection of rums but the vibe is great
I forgot how much fun I always have here
This place plays the best hip hop on the Westside
Great place Fun Times best security in Santa Monica
Good music but very small.
Very nice
Juan was very helpful and explain everything to me
When I went the place was popping definitely go there again
Small, but great music and vibe
Dark bar, been there for years pricey small drinks , including beers not even a pint
Very small venue.
Good music, good vibes, good people. Bathroom smells
Good music and a nice atmosphere
Great music and crowd , love it
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALISSA
Great place to get table service.
It was just ok. Not really anything special...
Why should i pay security guys at the front to get in??
Best dance bar in sm
Lively. Brings out the beautiful from the Westside.
Wedding reception, unique place.
Awesome ! Be safe
Cool but packed usually
Light drinks cant even catch a buzz..
Totally fun!
Had much fun!
Nice Dark hung out
Soo much fun
Trash ! Dont go here
Friendly
Good atmosphere
Rude staff
Cool place
I believe it is one of the few party options in Santa Monica. Entry is free and on the Saturday I went there was a bit of everything. The space is small, but people were excited. Too bad there is no menu with drink options and prices. But it seems that this is a practice in the USA.
Fun little club with a lot of hip hop. Its great for dancing. But drinks are quite expensive.
