Awesome spot! Felt welcomed, and had a great time from the moment I walked through the door. I believe its family owned and one of the last great spots left in southie. Easy to find head up the hill till u find a building clad in shamrock green shakes. They have pool, music, darts, hook and ring, and the usual boston bar slots like keno. Lots of fun, Jerry is a great guy (bartender) also, the patrons are friendly and sociable.
Im glad I ended up at this bar. I had the best time, and met some of the best people Ive come across.
Classic dive bar on the south side of Boston. Jukebox, pool table, darts, and a friendly bartender
Watch out for these guys, they might try to get you drunk and kiss you.🤣
Most of the employees are nice, but the owner of this place, Jerry, is very rude without cause. If youve never been here, I would avoid it. I dont usually post negative reviews, but this place is sort of shady. I do not recommend.
Local family run bar. Great pastrami sandwich for lunch. Would have been 5 stars if the fryer was working and there were other menu options when we visited. Pool table in the back room. Easy conversation with the bartender. This is an old fashioned neighborhood bar, bar that normally serves a few sandwiches and fries as part of the deal. Takes credit cards unlike some other bars of this style in Southie.
The Shannon tavern is everything it should be and it’s perfect. A welcoming neighborhood bar with friendly bar staff, good prices, Keno on display, and pool, boxing, and golden tee. They’ll happily put the audio for the game on as well.
The tap selection is perfect, something for everyone, even the IPA drinkers (please don’t order an IPA) but Jerry made the visit a 5 star stop. Skip all the Irish bars on your travel blogs and have a few pints/shots with the amazing locals at Shannon Tavern.
Good people, cold beers, and Jerry is the best barkeep. Everything I hoped a real Southie Irish bar to be.
Pretty much has all the essentials of a perfect dive. Cheap drinks/Keno/Lottery/Pool/Bubble Hockey & of course 2 ft. x 2 ft. windows with neon beer signs covering the entirety of them. Not to mention the green exterior & corner placement on K & 3rd makes it look like an old world Southie locals bar.
Southie at its finest. I watched the Pats playoff game there and had a blast. We drank for 4 hours and the check was under$50. Gerry is a great bartender and the place feels like home
Best Dive Bar Evah!
The antidote to anodyne hotel bars charging $19 for a pint of Stella. Very welcoming, fast & professional bar man Gerry. Full of good company. In its third generation for good reason.
Had a decent night. Was kind of disappointed they werent serving food but they gave us a bunch of menus of nearby places. They have a cool gaming area behind the bar with a pool table, fooshockey and a golf game.
Cool place. My aunt laura is a bartender there. Real cool. If you see her tell her the blue haired kid next-door said hi.
Im a traveller. I stopped here to get a real south Boston night out. Now Im not going to say what exactly the bartender did for me but it was much needed. Little things make peoples days.
Old school. Great place for a pint. Friendly bartender. Ill be back!
Pool, Golden T, boxing game, cheap drinks, juke box, Keno, funny bartenders. What more could you ask for in a local tavern?
I havent been here in years,a lot of great memories, this is the kind of place you go in as a stranger and leave as a friend, and youre always welcome back
Jerry is awesome.
Great place for a drink with friends and to watch sports. The bartenders are kind and quick. There are books there to peruse as well.
First time I stopped in this place Jerry was working behind the bar, and just knew this would be a place I’d be coming back to.
Was warmly welcomed by the regulars. Great experience while in South Boston.
Great bar food, awesome drinks and Great company!Excellent local bar and friends!
Friendly locals and relatively quiet while I was there. Will have to return with folks soon!
Hands down best bar I have ever been to
If you want a good old blue collar local dive where you can just grab a beer and unwind... This is that place.
Havent been here for a while, but I always had a good time with my friends.
Great bar tenders. Darts, pool, punch machine. Legit
One of the last neighborhood bars in the area that hasnt sold out to the yuppie crowd.
One of the last local bars, neat small place with a small kitchen that serves comfort food
Great service, but was made to feel like I did not belong.
One of the last local bars with southie atmosphere
My local watering hole one of the only original places left
Lots of regulars, played some good keno games here.
Friendly staff and great bar food
I remember the 90s here...What a different world.
Great bar.
Jerry is the best !!

Not what it used to be makes me sad
Excellent breakfast sandwich!
Will not be visiting this establishment again.
