Review of Facial:The facial experience was exceptional from start to finish. It was incredibly relaxing and relieved a lot of my work-related stress. Even though I have fairly good skin, I was amazed at how much oil and impurities were extracted. The staff were professional and welcoming, and the therapist was especially attentive and skilled, explaining the process. An ingrown hair I had no longer hurts and is now healing after this session. My face was left with a natural, oil-free glow. I highly recommend this service if youre looking to relax and improve your skins health.Review of Platinum Head Spa:I went into the Platinum head spa feeling very tense from work, but the experience turned out to be incredibly stress-relieving. Even with my short hair, the treatment was calming, relaxing, and revitalizing. From having my hair washed and scalp massaged to the soothing steam treatment, every part of the experience was wonderful from start to finish.The staff were professional and welcoming, and the therapist was particularly attentive and skilled, focusing on key pressure points that melted away my stress. White refrigerator experience. The majority of assistants there don’t know how to detangle without ripping through your hair. They turn you away from the mirror, blow dry hair at the highest setting, don’t listen when you ask them to turn it down, don’t communicate their steps or educate, but give you attitude if you ask simple questions, like did they apply heat protectant. One time I booked the owner of the salon for a traditional weave and my appointment took 6 hours… just to leave with painful folliculitis from too-tight braids, an exposed track, and mid styling. I would stay away if you care about your natural hair and want your stylist to be helpful, - not treat your appointment like a chore when you’re paying money for a service.

I’ve been going to studio Chique for over 10 years and love it.I recently had the opportunity to visit their new location and it screams LUXURY!It might be the most beautiful salon I’ve seen in the DMV. The staff is so accommodating and make you feel very welcome in the space.Definitely plan to spend time there so you can experience the different spa treatments available! I literally could have spent a whole day…. If I did it would look like this!Massage, body contouring (cavitation), Hydro bath, Sauna pod, wax & facial…. And then get my hair slayed…
Service was amazing!!!! I flew into DC for a meeting but needed a silk press immediately. They were able to get me in at the last minute and were super accommodating because my flight arrived late! When I arrived they stored my small luggage out the way & they started on me right away. Throughout the course of my service, they continued to ask if I was good and if I needed anything. The service was impeccable, my silk press was amazing, the price was great and the stylist even gave me some recommendations on places to visit while I was in town. If Im ever back in DC, Ill be back to get another silk press!
I love this newly renovated location! Super elegant! I went to see Alana to get a Head Spa and I highly recommend her and the service. She communicated what was happening during the head spa to make sure I knew what was going on and to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone was very professional and had wonderful customer service. Definitely will be back to see Alana and Studio Chique!
Im very particular about my time, as Im a structured person. When I decided to book an appointment with this business, I knew I wanted everything to go smoothly. I scheduled a shampoo and blow-dry service with a trim, arriving at my appointment around 3:50 PM, expecting to be seated by 4 PM. However, that wasnt the case. Upon arrival, I was directed to the waiting area, where I sat for about 40 minutes. At 4:40 PM, I was finally called to the station where my hair was washed and blow-dried by a different stylist than the one I had originally requested. Although she did an okay job, the wash and blow-dry took an hour and a half.After that, I was instructed to wait for my original stylist, who was still working on another client. I waited for another hour and a half. My frustration grew because my appointment was only supposed to last 45 minutes, yet I ended up spending over two hours at the salon. Eventually, I couldnt wait any longer. I paid for the shampoo and blow-dry service and left without the trim at 6:45 PM.I was disappointed because this was my first time at this salon, and I had high hopes due to the positive reviews I had read. Im unsure if Ill return in the future, but well see.
I’ve been to many spas but by far Studio Chique Rhode Island Ave, DC has been the best spa I’ve been to! You get this feeling of Royalty when you hit that front door as you’re greeted with so much love and class! The staff are well trained and goes above and beyond to meet your needs and they pay attention to detail! This place has a bright future in the spa industry, I see myself going back for serves many times more!

Updated review: My hair survived pregnancy and postpartum shedding thanks to Studio Chique. I have been coming here for 10 years and I love everything about the Gift of Chique. I started coming when I wanted to transition from relaxers and cut some hair little by little. It took me about 3 years to fully transition and now I love my healthy hair. I am able to do versatile styles and I appreciate the deep conditioning process using the steamer. My hair always feel loved when I come here...and my color is always on point
Just no.I’ve let so many things slide—from being passed around to random stylists, to forgotten services I clearly paid for in advance, to unnecessary wait times for a simple style, to being moved into cramped corners because of the lack of chairs. I let it slide because my hair has been a deep insecurity and hair salons have never been a place of safety or affirmation. The last appointment where I was handed to an employee I didn’t request (and the stylist on my appointment strolled in and sat on her phone halfway through my appointment), and then was given the wrong hairstyle was the last straw. I am on a particular journey with my hair that has now been set back. Paying and tipping for a job that I now have to pay to fix on my own? No. Despite the nice customer service at the front desk and the convenience, I can’t recommend this salon at all.
I got serviced by Whitney. I got a silk press and as you can see my ends were messed up. Then, I got a mini trim. 2 weeks later, I went back so Whitney could just cut the rest off. (I know I was very bold in my approach to healthy hair, but I just got tired of my ends.) As a note, Whitney did not just cut off my hair, we definitely spoke multiple times about what I was comfortable cutting off. We then talked about how I can keep my hair healthy so that I can grow my hair out again but keep the length. So definitely 5/5 stars. My hair is thicker and fuller. I can’t wait to be waist length with my hair thick and full. So I thank Whitney for the whole process and proper education!
I was between giving either 2 or 3 stars:As I have been searching for a go-to/local salon since moving to NoVA, this has been my 2nd salon visit and my 3rd stylist this far. Before I wrote this review, I wanted to give Studio Chique a 2nd try because my sister goes to this salon and get styled by Ngina.Oh how I missed my stylist from Hampton Roads, Tammy Mason!!! Since April 2010, I have never experienced heat damage from any of the silk blow outs by Tammy, but since moving here, I have experienced heat damage from two different salons!The customer service needs some improvement. The salon is crammed, but theres two layers.I gave this review 3 stars for a few reasons:-Chynas trimmed was so awesome and the feel of my silk press felt nice-Ngina apologized more than once for my wait-I was offered a drink during both visits-Checkout was easy-Discount on time spent for Flexi-rod setMy disappointments:-Sister did not receive a referral code or link-Receptionist missed booked me for silk press, but it was suppose to be the blow dry/flat iron on a Tue/Wed at that time-Never received the first time discount back in April-Upon washout (3rd wash) of the silk press, I have been nurturing heat damage since (yellow shirt)-Too much heat, (shampoo girl blow dry, Chyna blow dry, then flat iron-Flexi-rod appointment was 5.5 hours-Flexi-rod set gone by the end of the next day (hair in purple shirt)-Ngina appeared to be overbookedI got home and my husband was like, you could have done that style before and you do it better.... Sigh.... All I want is to do is find a salon that cares for natural hair and I can get a blow out and trim when needed and experience NO heat damage. I know fore sure that I will not get a flexi-rod set ever again.Looks like I will have to commit to make the drive back to Hampton Roads for a blow-out.
I have been going to Tyra at Studio Chique for my waxes for years. She is amazing! Aside from just being a ball of good energy, she is a master of her craft. I’ve never been consistent with waxing until I found her and now I look forward to my sessions every 5 weeks.

The true definition of black excellence! I have worked a numerous spas and salons who have been voted best of Washingtonian, but I can say this is the best of the dmv I have seen thus far! 10 out of 10! Pictures doesn’t do this place justice!
I’ve been going to Aloni for some time now and all i can say is she leave me speechless every time nothing less than an experience each and every time. Aloni is a very talented stylist with expertise in blonding, skillful balayage techniques, as well as any extension and natural hair styling service you can think of ! The most versatile stylist I’ve come across yet in the DMV areaNot only does she take the time to perfect EVERY style she also cares for the health and integrity of your natural hair as well. I started going to Aloni at the beginning of my natural hair journey well let’s just say I’m almost waist length with the help of Aloni and all of the take home advice and knowledge she gives to maintain my hair outside of her chair.Over all i absolutely love the salon but if you’re looking for a stylist that’s only PROFESSIONAL (that’s very hard to come by in this area) but will have you feeling confident and looking AMAZING Aloni is your girl for that !

I moved to DC and have been searching for a salon home for almost 6 months and I have finally found it in Studio Chique! I booked a treatment, trim and style and my hair looks so beautiful and healthy! All of the women who work there were welcoming, professional and efficient. The wash, steam and detangling was so gentle but effective for my hair which is usually unmanageable. My stylist was Clara and she was so efficient, gave me helpful tips to keep my hair healthy, and made my hair beautiful and healthy for the first time in months. If you are looking for a traditional black owned hair salon like what most of us experienced before the birth of Instagram stylists and needing to wash your own hair before you get it styled, look no further! This is the place. I will be a regular from now on! From what I saw, any of these women can keep your hair healthy and slayed. The prices are reasonable for what they offer, the ambiance is relaxing yet communal, and the stylists themselves are all talented! Also I’m not someone who ever writes reviews but I know how hard it is to find someone to trust with your hair so I hope this helps!
Can I call this a praise report? Because my ends have never felt more anointed and my roots have never felt so blessed before coming to this salon! I’ve been coming to a Whitney for some time now and she is absolutely amazing. Every time I sit in her chair I get top tier treatment! My healthy hair journey would not have been possible without her. She’s always attentive and pleasant. Even when I don’t know what I want, she is patient and always ready with ideas. I highly recommend her!Overall, the staff here is professional and the customer service is amazing!
I had microlinks installed here by Ngina.Ladies if you care about hair care microlinks is not it. The link pulled out a good amount of my hair. Ngina said she had never seen anything happen like that before. That is hard to believe and wish she would have educated me about this possibility. I really do not feel like this style should even exist for black hair because it is extremely damaging.It is also a very expensive style and you think you are paying for versatility like you can wear the hair in multiple styles that you can do yourself. The way Ngina did my hair I could not. I could only wear it down with the initial side part. I might as well have just gotten a weave.Now for the service I received. Ngina was nice (she ordered a smoothie for herself and asked if I wanted one too) but very talkative. She basically gave a whole sermon to the other stylists there while doing my hair. I think all the talking slows her down. The salon in my opinion has a very ghetto fabulous vibe. Overall for styles other than microlinks I think they do a pretty good job.
I went to Studio Chique (Ngina) after not having my hair professionally straightened for a little over 2 years. She gave me an organic keratin treatment and the service was so professional and my hair looked and felt great! I am starting over again of no straightening with a flat iron but I will be back every few months for a blow dry and trim!
This is what it looks like after spending $1K. $430 to color, which while pretty does not match the hair samples I provided. $475 for takedown and frontal install. Told me there was nothing more she could do and everyone’s lace shows. You can only fool me once. No professional should let their client leave looking like this 🤬 The price and customer service provided are inversely correlated.

I had an appointment with Aloni for a Keratin treatment and trim. She introduced herself upon me entering the salon. I was directed to a seat to be washed where another young lady washed my hair and before I know it the assistant was applying the Keratin treatment. If I booked services with Aloni why was someone else putting a chemical in my hair? Why would the stylist not mention that she wasn’t applying it during her introduction? The only thing Aloni did to my hair was flatiron it. If this is how business is conducted, inform your client and allow them to decide if that works or does not. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Luckily my hair looked good and didn’t fall out. I will not be returning or recommending them to anyone.
Typically, I wear my hair in protective styles that I do myself. But I book with Studio Chique for trims and silk presses. Aloni wasn’t available the for week I needed, so I trusted to try Whitney (I never been to her before) I had a late afternoon appointment because I’m a school teacher. My wash was amazing as usual! The blow dry was fine. But what was unsettling was Whitney’s attitude. It was time to do my silk press, and I kindly asked if she could add 2-3 of my own clip-ins. My hair is fine and I love body/fullness in my hair. I wasn’t even done asking, and she shakes her head and says no. I have another client after you and was dismissive. How long does it take to clip 2-3 clip-ins inside a head? Not long at all. Also, I felt uncomfortable by her “I’m tired” demeanor. She wasn’t friendly at all. I understand people get tired, I teach 500 plus kids music ranging from prek-6th grade Mon-Fri. So I know tired and more. I want to come back and book with my girl Aloni. And I may because she does an outstanding job and is very nice/chill.But please train every stylist on customer service and good energy. That is important in every industry, hair or anything cosmetic.
The service, care, and professionalism I received at Studio Chique is really above 5 star. From the entry to the bathroom, just absolutely superb..
I love, love Studio Chique! My son Forrest Givens recommended this all service salon. The staff is very friendly & Marsha my massage therapist is highly recommended, she does an excellent job bringing me back to life.
I originally came here to get my hair colored. This was originally done by Kayla who did a fantastic job. She gave really helpful advice on how to keep my hair healthy and it’s been thriving. The second time, I returned for a retouch and learned that Kayla was no longer with the salon. I was disappointed with how this appointment went. Upon the first process, the color came out completely wrong and we had to go through another single process. The second time, my roots were made so dark that it almost looked like my regular regrowth. I wasn’t crazy about the attitude of the color specialist either. Overall, this is a great establishment for other services. They have several hands on deck and the ladies are nice. I’ve seen great work for other services especially. But for hair coloring, I don’t think this is the greatest place.
The price is low BUT...Stylists are super rude, it gives you should be thankful they are tolerating you being there vs appreciative that you chose this salon.I would pay 4x more to be treated like the paying customer I am. Really not too much to ask.This should be the norm at all times.Ill take my business elsewhere and wont be back
Overall, the style I received was very nice, but the experience was not. It was really taxing being there for 8 hours. I didn’t feel like a priority at all, which is a very uncomfortable feeling especially when you’re paying half a grand for services. The amount of time and waiting around while people who came hours after me were taken care of is what made this feel like a regular salon I could find anywhere. I also, think prices should be discussed before carrying out a service. Does the patron know that every thing they discuss will be an added $200 or will they find out when it’s time to pay? Having a price chart and clear discussion with your client will prevent any confusion and provide transparency. Also, after coloring asking the client if they are happy with it, or have any changes they want to make before styling will also improve communication and make for a better experience. Despite the compliments I received, I wouldn’t book again.

This was my first time at the salon, it was a great experiennc3. I got a silk press, trim, and treatment. From the shampoo tech to the stylish Kayla I was a great experience. I will definitely return. I love my hair! I love how the stylist took time to explain everything and give recommendations.
3 stars.The Good- The scalp treatments are refreshing and the shampoo is decent. My whole body smell like peppermint for a week.- If you’re getting a silk press or a micro links, your hair is going come out fire. . Some of the services are little over priced but that’s another story.The Bad- WAIT TIMES. I have gone here numerous times and the wait times are awful. I’ve shown up early to my appt and right on time AND I STILL HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR. My longest wait time was 2 1/2 hours.- I don’t think they use heat protectant (or at least not all of the stylists do) because baby the HEAT DAMAGE IS REAL.- They make you wait really long in between services. Literally sat under the dryer for 30 minutes because the stylists were backed up. This happened to numerous clients.TLDR: Not bad, not great. You get what you pay for! My hair looked good every time, but I also have a strict hair regime so I’m not sure how much I can credit them for that. Anyway, the prices for a silk press are okay but if you are in a rush or DO NOT LIKE TO WAIT (like AT ALL) I do not recommend going here. Also, do not recommend going here if you’re looking for a luxury experience.

My closure is LAID. My color palette is perfect and customized and my spa services are superb! (v-facials, color, and tape-ins)The staff is passionate about the customers experience and I really appreciate how genuine the owner and her team is about people.Im leaving Studio Chique again looking and feeling fabulous. Not calling me the night before my appointment to ask me to go to another stylist. Very unprofessional like no, plus I was already asked to reschedule the week before which I did now asking me again that’s wack. I do a lot of research before I let someone touch my head so trust I was excited to get my hair done but obviously the stylist doesn’t take on too many new clients which is understandable but that needs to be in the fine print when scheduling. The salon is nice I’ve gotten my hair shampooed and hydrated several times over the summer which is done by the shampoo assistant but now it’s time for a silk press. I wanted a professional who has been doing hair 20+ years like I had in Atlanta so now I will have to find another salon which is disappointing cause I’m sure this was probably one of the best.
I went to studio chique for the first time yesterday, I had a great experience. When I walked in I received a warm welcome from the receptionist and other hair stylists. The hydration treatment was amazing and i love how my silk press looks. I definitely will be returning!
The staff was phenomenal, sweet, and so professional. Kayla did a full-head of highlights, a silk press, and a trim. She has a gift and I will trust her with my hair forever. T was so accommodating. I felt so cared for. They took time to walk me through everything and made me feel like my trust was well-deserved. This is one of the best salons in DC! One of the few salons left out here that is not a money grab salon and actually does great work. Customer service is top tier. Samaya is super sweet! Alana will have you falling asleep in the shampoo bowl - great service. Whitney does great work!
Perfect, perfect, perfect!My stylist is the owner, Ngina and she is awesome. My hair has grown so much in length and in thickness since I have been going to her.I am a Black woman with natural hair. I have an appointment every eight weeks to get a trim, blow out, and silk press. I am in and out in no more than two hours with perfect tresses!I also appreciate that the salon is clean and everyone is super professional. And...its based in downtown DC which I appreciate because most Black-owned hair salons, of quality, are based in MD.
I was referred to Studio Chique by a friend who had been going for a really long time. Let me start by saying I find it difficult to find a black hair salon that is professional, transparent and knows how to care for all types of hair. I didn’t hesitate to make my appointment because my friend’s hair always looked so bomb. My first visit there was amazing. I made an early appointment and was not disappointed by anything. The ambiance is so soothing and almost feels like home. Ms. Ngina was my stylist and she was great. I left the salon feeling so refreshed and satisfied not to mention my silk press last for more than 3 weeks. My curls were not damaged after washing and I’m so grateful for this salon. My second experience with them was the exact same.
Studio Chique is undoubtedly one of the best hair salons in DC, and they offer many other beauty-related services too (eg. waxing, massages, facials, body toning, hair loss solutions, etc.). Since my first visit a few years ago, I have always been impressed and captivated by the employees talent, professionalism, efficiency, & cleanliness. Each time I visit here, my hair comes out great. I typically get the silk press, which keeps the hair gorgeous for several weeks. After receiving exceptional care at this place, my hair has become healthier. I also love that I do not have to wait for an extensive period time to receive assistance, unlike other places. Youre basically in-and-out. The staff do a terrific job following appointment schedules, and they are all respectful and kind. I absolutely adore this beauty parlor. In fact, I have recommended it to some of my friends. Its on the pricey side, but I give it 5 stars all the way... A+++! Please check this place out. I promise that you will not be disappointed.
I never write reviews for anything, but this experience made me so upset I think it’s necessary. I left the salon in tears by how poorly I was treated. First, my stylist stopped doing my hair, halfway through, to do another clients hair. I didn’t have a problem with this at first, but the other clients hair took over an hour to do. Meanwhile, my hair only needed 15 minutes to finish. When it was my turn to get in the chair, my stylist didn’t even say my name. She just shooed me over using a hand gesture which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. After my stylist finished my hair, she threw a comb on the table, which then hit my foot, and I received no apology for that either. The whole time I waited patientlywhile experiencing so much anxiety because no one was making me feel better about the situation. When I left, no one said anything to me either after I thanked them for their service. Extremely inconsiderate. I will never be returning.
I am so glad I found Studio Chique. I got a silk press today and feel beautiful. I am always satisfied with my services- hair or otherwise. Marsha and Tyra are lovely. Loni is wonderful with my hair and all the stylists and staff are young and vibrant and do excellent work!
I didn’t have a good experience waiting for over 3 hrs for a silk press and if I didn’t show I was upset for waiting probably would have been waiting longer. I did not like how my hair turned out and wasn’t given the stylist I asked for. Overall wont be coming back. The lady who shampoo and did treatment on my hair was very nice. The silk press experience was not pleasant though.
This place is a gem. They get you in and out, everyone is kind and welcoming, their system is clear and effective, and they do some amazing hair. I get so many compliments when I leave here. They have kept my natural hair really healthy and I am very skeptical. I highly recommend coming if you are in need of a consist place to get your hair done or any of the other services they offer.
I am so glad I did my research and found Studio Chique. Im new to the area and in desperate need of a hair salon. I went to Studio Chique and felt very welcomed. The atmosphere and brightness of the salon, the positivity of the staff and overall aura of the place was so great. The service I received was the sew-in with leave out and though I am not familiar with all that goes in to the process, I left feeling that my hair was well taken care of. The price aligns with the quality of the service and even for me it was manageable. It changed my day. And was a much needed vacation into luxury, especially during these times! TYSM!
Prices are good. I wear my hair natural and wanted it straight in order to trim it. My trim looks great and my hair was not damaged at all during the straightening process with Ngina. These were the two things I’m most concerned with at a new salon and it was a good experience. I do prefer the stylist to blow dry my hair…I was concerned about too much heat and it could have been done better. Even though I’m natural, my hair is very fine and doesn’t require high heat to dry quickly.My only complaints are first, I had to wait a little over 30 minutes for my appointment to start and I sat around for a bit. Second, the “chique” press left my hair so limp. It was recommended because I don’t have a relaxer… which I was nervous about. No damage but didn’t look good. My hair straightens easily, and we couldn’t even get a bump in it after pressing without having to use too much heat. So I left with flat hair that looked thin. Again, my trim is great, so after washing a week later, my hair looks healthy and my patterns are the same. I don’t really wear my hair straight so overall it was a really good experience at a good price.
Ive been a part of the chique community for the past 2 and a half years and my last experience was heartbreaking. The young lady who shampooed my hair didnt introduce herself and i didnt receive the deep condition service Im used to. I was shocked at the lack of concern and care I received from this young lady when trying to resolve this issue. I asked for the owner before i left and was told she was out of town. I called a few days later and spoke with the new assistant manager and she was very personable and apologized for my not so great experience. I hope my next appointment is better than the last.
I have been to Studio Chique quite a few times. My stylist (Ngina) transitioned me from relaxed hair to natural hair and my hair is abundantly healthy! My stylist is very intentional about keeping my hair healthy and strong! I am always very pleased with all of the hair care services I have received from deep conditioning, natural styles, weave styling, permanent & temporary coloring, etc. I not only go to the salon for my hair care needs but also for the waxing services. The ambiance of the salon is beautiful and I always feel extra beautiful when I leave!
So this happened yesterday.I came in for a 60 min. Swedish Massage with Marsha. She was amazing! Attentive, a great listener and communicator, working out tough tension spots in a way I didn’t even know was possible! My massage was amazing. Great pressure, great technique, hot towels and some kind of scrub that made me feel like I was on a beach walking in the sand. I didn’t realize how tight my body was until the session was over. I felt so much relief afterwards. I would recommend anyone to give it a try. I wish I could come every week.The facility is clean, beautifully decorated, relaxing and tranquil. I just may have found my new go to spot for a massage.But don’t get it twisted. They offer a variety of other SELF CARE services.Check them out for yourself.
Studio Chique has been a gem. I am so glad that I finally found a salon that I can go to on a regular basis. They always take such good care of me and pay attention to what I really want in the haircut, color and style. All the stylists there are great and super sweet. They really are the best at what they do. I heard they are now offering hair regrowth! We can always use fuller and thicker hair. As I get older my hair keeps thinning. I can’t wait to try that treatment next. I will always go back and make sure that I introduce all of my friends and family to her salon as well!

My first time at Studio Chique was December 22, 2020. I wanted to get a silk press and get my ends clipped. I was nervous about my natural hair not reverting back to its curly state but when I washed it, I didn’t have an issue with my curls. My hair looks much healthier now that I got a much needed trim. Everyone was very nice and professional. I’d definitely go back recommend this shop.
My visit to Studio Chique was amazing! Although the salon was busy, I was greeted by the stylists assistant and waited less than 5 minutes before being serviced. Although my hair is natural, I wear it strait (flat ironed with light curls). I enjoyed the 3 washes as opposed to the 2 offered at other salons. My scalp and hair felt very clean. Sitting under the steamer was different, but relaxing. I requested a cut and light trim to get the hair off my neck and hair color. I am very impressed with the skills of my stylist, Ngina. My color was right on and my cut is precise. I appreciated that I didnt have to wait to be serviced. I was worked in not around so I got out of there within a good time frame just like the other clients. I will definitely return.
Had a very weird experience here. Ive been natural for over 10 years. I went in to get a silk press. For the first time. I had questions about silk presses, but the stylist never explained anything to me. I wanted to know what the difference between a silk wrap and silk press. The stylist suggested I get a trim. So I agreed. That was the only time she spoke to me. The shampoo assistant was rude and a little rough. I think my stylist was new. The style she gave me was a bit old ladyish. I was in a rush to go so I really didnt get to say what I wanted. As soon as she was finished. She left to go to the bathroom. Not a calm courtesy of thank you, good bye. Didnt try to build no relationship with me. When I called the salon the receptionist told me a silk press was $60. I understand I got a trim, but I got charged $80. But good grief! Since the stylist went to the bathroom I put her $10 tip @ her booth. Then I gave the shampoo assistant $7 tip. I gave her tip in her hand and she never said thank you. How freaking rude!!!!! You mean to tell me I spent damn near $100 in here and I dont get a thank you! The ambience of the salon was nice. It didnt match the employees. I use to work in the salon. Building relationships with your clients are important. The owner or manager needs to teach her employees that. Probably why this salon was empty on a Friday evening!!!! Will not be returning. They missed out on a loyal client!!

I visited Ngina yesterday for a molded style an her work with my hair makes me feel so gorgeous! The ambience of the upper level is amazing. She offered me a glass of wine to have while I sat under the dryer. The punctuality of the salon is great as well. My appointment was for 1pm. I planned on getting there early and arrived at 12:10pm with anticipation of being in there for 3+ hours. I waited 10 minutes before someone started with my wash, and I was out and done a little after 2pm! The salon values your time and doesn’t have you waiting forever. I recommend that everyone on different hair journeys and phases to visit Ngina and Studio Chique!
This review is long overdue but here goes! My past several experiences at Studio Chique have been nothing short of excellent. I have natural, tightly coiled and kinky hair. I have had my hair silk pressed and flexi-rodded at this salon on different occasions. From start to finish the process for both services was seamless. The reviews Im seeing about heat damage are unfortunate but truly not a part of my experience. My hair still most definitely maintains my curl pattern and because I decided to invest in the health of my hair by taking up the salons offer of a luxury Protein/Hydration treatment(something I get each time I have heat applied to my hair at this salon), my hair has flourished and even increased in length(seriously!). I will admit that I take the health of my hair seriously so I know it is strong enough to take heat and physical manipulation before I go to the salon. It still stands though that Studio Chique takes pride in the health of the hair of their clients and feels it their responsibility to educate their clients on hair health whenever possible. I hope the other reviews dont dissuade you from stopping by!
I didn’t see many reviews about the Deva Cut so I am leaving a great review about my experience with Ngina... She did a great job shaping me up. I have very thick, coarse afro texture hair and she knew exactly how to tackle my mane. My hair feels really great and super healthy and I am in love with my new cut. I didn’t get a style but they do have plenty of stylists that provide a variety of services to which they were all doing amazingly. Very professional, everyone is super nice and I highly highly recommend them. The service there is top notch and I was in an out with no wait time at all. Oh and the price of my cut was awesome compared to most cuts. The last cut I had was over 100 dollars and in my opinion she did a better job and her prices were lower. Thanks ladies!!
My visit occurred last September. I came to this salon and I wanted to get my hair done done. I’m talking cut, colored, and DID. Butttt I was hesitant. My stylist was very understanding and we settled on a silk press and a trim. I hadn’t had my hair straightened in so long that I did not even know how long it was. I showed up with my hair already detangled and they took it from there. The result was my beautiful long flowing nicely even trimmed hair. When I washed my hair it coiled up perfectly, not a single damaged strand. I will surely be booking their services again.
I will preference this review by saying that my social anxiety was on 90 during my time at the salon so that might have driven my experience, if youre someone who is better at consistently sharing your concerns it the moment then you might not have the same experience as me.Yesterday I came to the salon for a shampoo, blowout, trim. I was put into a chair almost immediately, and a woman started working on detangling my hair before washing- however she only used water and a comb, but it was a general detangling so I didnt mind too much. The shampoo was really good and thorough, but the technique used to wash my hair resulted in a lot of extra unnecessary tangling, my hair was a birds nest of tangles( I wash my hair in a way that keeps it relatively stretched to avoid extra tangling). When we moved onto detangling she also only used water and a somewhat wide tooth comb, this is a concerning method for type 4 natural hair, the woman tried her best to not pull and did good on starting from the ends up and working in smaller sections and twisting the detangled sections, but the lack of product for slip and the size of the comb resulted in a lot of hair coming out that in my years of detangling my own hair Ive never experienced(I honestly just wanted to take over and detangle for her to save my hair the trauma but anxiety failed me). The blowdrying process was also worrying as Im not sure they use any heat protectant before blowdrying.The trim, while heartbreaking as I lost like 2inches of hair, was fine because I know that part was needed.Overall, while the women were welcoming and all, the technique used at the salon for taking care of type 4 natural hair left me dejected, especially since its a room full of black women. So my tip if you go here and have natural hair is to be prepared to speak up if needed and dont be afraid to bring tools/products that you know work for your hair- as these were the what made my experience so bad. And if the shop reads this, Id recommend experimenting with the Felicia Leatherwood brush, I also use it on my little sisters 4C bra-strap length hair with conditioner and the shedded hair is barely a handful and only generally takes 10-15mins to detangle.
New to the city and made an appointment solely off online reviews. My expectations were definitely meet. It was very easy to get my questions answered to find the right service and then schedule an appointment. (I found it difficult to get questions answered with other salons, even told to send an email!). Candice was very personable, thoroughly answered my additional questions, and did an awesome job with my keratin strengthener. Ive never gotten one before, but very pleased with the outcome thus far. She also gave me a nice trim. Ill definitely be back!
Definitely recommend this salon to everyone! Salon was friendly & clean; my stylist was attentive, quick, and clearly very experienced. Only thing I didn’t love was my stylist was ready to conclude the appt w/o putting any product in my hair, which I found odd. But when I asked for product she worked with me to find the right one and I left the salon pleased with my look. And y’all- SC is female and minority owned!! I went in for a Keratin Express Treatment & I asked the stylist questions about the treatment because I normally receive the Peter Coppola Keratin Complex System back home in Louisiana. However, I am no stranger to receiving a keratin treatment. I THOUGHT the stylist was really professional & sweet. Everyone seemed very nice until I was up charged/scammed for a service I didn’t receive, which was a silk press. A silk press & a keratin treatment are two separate services. A keratin treatment includes straightening the hair to activate the product/chemical used in the treatment. A silk press is usually a deep condition and/or some form of hydration treatment followed by flat ironing the hair. I only received services for keratin treatment & a basic haircut but was charged for a silk press as well. I am really disappointed because yes I am from out of town but I am NOT green nor am ignorant to black hair care. I did not dispute the charge with the receptionist because I did not want to cause a scene in the salon, but unfortunately she has lost a future client due to the shady treatment. & I will definitely dispute the charge with my bank! Just do the right thing & stop thinking you’re getting over on ppl because you’re only playing yourself. Could’ve had more clients from my place of employment, but I will definitely tell my coworkers who were looking forward to booking an appointment about this experience. Next time I’ll just fly home to New Orleans! SAD & hella disrespectful!
Studio Chique was highly recommended to me from a friend. Being new to the area, trusting my friend, and seeing how her hair always looks so amazing I gave it a try with no hesitation. Booking was very easy and convenient on their website. For my very first appointment I got the silk press and color treatment. Clara did an absolutely amazing job on my hair. She was very informative and welcoming and most importantly my hair was flawless for a wedding I was attending. I am very big on not being in the shop for hours I was in and out in about 90 minutes. Leaving this experience I said I found a stylist in the area thus I booked another appointment. Again easy booking a little longer in the shop but still a great experience. I reached out to Studio Chique about dying some bundles for me. I called the number on the website asking about the process and pricing. I was told to text the number I was talking to a picture. I sent the picture they returned my called with the pricing and said you can drop the hair off. When I dropped the hair off I was instructed to write my name and phone number on a sticky note and someone would call me when the hair was ready. No one ever looked at the color of my hair or consulted with me but again being new to the area and the previous good experiences I said ok and did it. About a week later I never hear back about the hair being done so I reach back out to them. Everyone is confused as if I didn’t drop off any hair. Long story short they lost the hair and just kept telling me this is weird this isn’t our protocol this is usually what we do. That’s fine but it didn’t happen with me so where is the hair I dropped off. The receptionist (with the braids sorry I don’t remember her name) was searching high and low and doing her best to find the hair. I was told they would look at the cameras and give me call back tomorrow. Next day comes around I get a call around 2pm again restating what the protocol is and again idc what it is it did not happen with me. I am again told the hair can’t be found and they couldn’t look at the cameras. At this point I’m getting more frustrated do to needing this hair because I was leaving for an event out of town the next morning. About 30 minutes later I get a call saying we found the hair and will dye it now. Do now I’m trying to figure out did the hair fall out of the sky cuz now all of a sudden it’s found. I was asked what time I would be in the pick it up I said I can come around 5:30. I was told this works the hair just might be a bit wet still. I said that’s fine. Arrive a little after 5:30 and the hair is not done. Then I was told she is adding more toner so basically to wait longer. The hair was not done until around 6:20 almost an hour after I said I would be there. The hair was still wet and I was still charged full price. I was not compensated for the inconvenience that was caused to me. This experience has changed my opinion of Studio Chique. Will definitely be back for Clara to do my silk presses but other than that I’m not sure.
I want to thank Studio Chique for their exemplary customer service. After Sundays snafu, the owner reached out to me the same day acknowledging the scheduling mishap and rescheduled me for a new appointment. Their Pretty V Brazilian and Facial will be my new go-to. I appreciated Tyras gentle demeanor and attention to detail. She made the experience very comfortable and I loved our conversation together. While the salon owner offered to cover the service free of charge, I was too happy to pay - Tyra made it worth it!!Cant wait to return in 6 weeks!
I had a great experience at Studio Chique. My stylist, Candice, did a great job on my silky press. I have very course 4a/4b hair (Im natural) and its usually hard to straighten it so that its nice and silky smooth. But she did it and it looks great, is flowy and bouncy. She also gave me a trim which I needed real bad. The salon was really easy to find too.
If I could give them 100 stars I would from the moment I walked in the staff makes you feel welcomed! This was my very first visit to he salon after researching and agonizing over the cut and the current situation you have to be more than careful Aloni was early actually! She took a few minutes to chat about my hair and she went right to it! She took her time and explained what she was doing..even the shampoo was amazing I got some kind of treatment with my service...The salon is super clean and sanitized they clean the entire time and everyone including clients must wear a mask sign a covid release and clean your hands!!!!! I haven’t been to a salon in decades I have found my new hair home lol #natural
I recently moved here from Durham/Chapel Hill, NC. I was in need of a new hairstylist. I looked at the reviews of different places and Studio Chique had good ones. I called to schedule an appointment, but it was on a day they were closed. The voicemail instructed me to make an appointment online, which was easy to do. The day of the appointment the stylist Candice sent me a text message to introduce herself and confirm our appointment which was nice. I found the salon easily. I was coming from work in SE so parking was a little tricky, but I found a space a couple blocks away. When I walked in I was greeted warmly and didnt have to wait to get started. I was getting a relaxer, trim and style. My relaxer was put in and then I think I got a hot oil treatment. Candice washed my hair thoroughly and then I sat under the dryer. The light in the dryer room was broken, so that was a little weird, but there was a tv on so it wasnt too bad. Afterward she blow dried my hair and then asked if I wanted to do the trim since it was my first visit and I didnt know her as well. I let her do it and it turned out good. She curled my hair really quickly, but the curls looked good. I knew the prices when I made the appointment and had been mentally preparing myself since its an adjustment from NC. However, when I had to pay the $105 ($85 relaxer & $20 trim) my heart still dropped a little. Overall, I had a good experience and am happy with my hair!
I’ve never written a review before, but I feel inclined to after my experience with Studio Chique. I booked an appointment for a full head of highlights (on January 24th) for an appointment on February 12th. I booked the appointment specifically for this day because I had an event the next day and wanted my hair done for it. When I booked the appointment, no where did it say that I needed to book additional services on top of this service if I wanted to leave with my hair dry. Nor did I receive a call after booking saying that I needed to book an additional service in order to not leave with wet hair. I thought they taught me how to read critically in law school, but perhaps not.This morning (February 10th) I received a text message (see in images) that was extremely unprofessional and upsetting. I was told today, two days before my appointment, that I did not book a “finishing style” and would have to leave the salon with my hair wet if I wanted to come get my hair done still. That is beyond crazy. Who in the world wants to leave the salon with their hair wet?? That was already an outrageous thing to say to someone, but it only got worse when the salon called me. When I spoke to the receptionist (Mia?) on the phone, she told me that I had no other options because every single stylist was booked. So there was no way for me to get my hair pressed or dried. She later told me that they could maybe “sit me under the dryer”.My problem is that if this is the way the salon operates (where you need to book a finishing style as well), why is it not written anywhere on the booking page. Also, why did the salon wait until TWO DAYS before my appointment to tell me this. They could have called me after I booked in January or at least a week before so that I could at least add on the additional service.Y’all please do not go here. I wish I would have read the other reviews because they are not lying- these people here are rude, have an attitude and are unprofessional. I have never in my life seen a salon operate like this. Its g-h-e-t-t-o!!
Wow, first day back with an early morning micro link (Metowi Method) appointment. First, let me say this salon has implemented a very detailed health and sanitation policy and process with excellent customer service ! They provide masks, they require each customer to sign a waiver, they clean and sanitize all chairs after each client, the water is filtered for the shampoo bowls, they have disposable styling capes for each client, they even have contactless hand dryers in the restrooms. Oh did I mention the ambiance and decor is 5 star and all the stylists are great stylists! The owner, Gina has created a safe environment for the clients and an exceptional experience! I highly recommend this salon plus they service you immediately with no wait time!
My experience here was wonderful. My mother, son, and daughter got their hair done, and I loved everyones hair. The prices were high, but I was looking for a quality stylist, so I paid. I assumed I was going to be in the salon all day, nope, we were finished in about 3 hours! The shop ran like a well-oiled machine.
This Review is way overdue.I have been a regular client of Studio Chique for sometime now and i can say without hessitation that the customer service, quality of the products and the talented stylists are second to none. The stylists are artists with the added bonus of having a raisor sharpe focus on hair and scalp health. I am convinced that anyone with complaints about the quality of service and products used are first time clients with pre existing hair health conditions. The management at the Salon is committed to excellent service so in the unlikely event that a first time client is dissatisfied with the service, speak to management as the first resort to resolve the matter. Finally i can say based on my own experience that making Studio Chique your home for hair care will result in a healthy and spectacularly laid crown.
This place is sooo good yall!! i decided to get a silk press for homecoming, and it definitely met my expectations. all staff members are friendly, as soon as i arrived a lady started washing my hair (she went straight to it, love that!!). everytime she massaged a product in my scalp, i felt like i was gonna sleep lol. after my hair was fully dry, i was brought to the lady who would be doing my silk press. she was amazing: my hair turned out to be super smooth and silky, lightweight and bouncy (since i added curls). she seemed to really know about hair, she explained that since i had dyed hair the bonds are weak and dry- and even recommended products to build them back up. also my hair was cut very unevenly from a previous styler, but she made it look super even: as if nothing even happened! all the products they used smelt very good and had my hair fleeing fresh. i absolutely would recommend coming here as a girl with curly hair. it really dont matter your curl type, they can do it. definitely will be coming back ❤️❤️
The absolute worse experience ever. I booked way in advance initially with Ngina 1 process color, precision cut & mold etc and I was passed along & booked with Whitney without notice as a first time client. I booked the best way I knew how with the lack of precise booking system they have. Cancellation is very unclear which is unacceptable. I left work early, arrange a sitter to drive all the way from Upper Marlboro Md to drive all the way to Georgia Ave to be told 30 mins before my appointment my color will take 4 hours and basically I need to settle for whatever is offered and or book an 2 week out appointment with unprofessional Whitney. Whitney had no intentions on accommodating me in no way as a new client.There was no curtsy called made, consultation or anything. I was furious as a black woman who has a business also helping another black owned business it made me regret it. FYI don’t put any card on file because if so & you are forced to cancel like my situation that was completely out of my control & there is no sympathy & remains a charge being made. THE WORSE EVER & NEVER TF AGAIN!!!
I loved my experience here. Tyra was awesome she made me feel welcomed, at home. Had good conversation and overall I loved my Brazilian wax. Made my kitty be pretty again lol. My facial was pleasing as well. I will be back again just for her to take care of me. The receptionist was a little nonchalant tho
I got a gift package for this lovely boutique salon just minute from my house and loved it. Marsha was a wonderful masseuse, and she was really able to work out some pain spots. I will definitely be coming back. Their receptionist however, cant do math or really book well. I was charged $20 extra for a tip even though I did the math for the young woman, and then I told her I would like an appointment with Marsha to then only get a bounce-back email saying that my appointment was for brow contouring.
I visited studio chique a few weeks ago to color my natural curly hair. I was nervous because I dyed my hair once before years ago and the salon that did it literally fried my hair. Ngina however, knows what she is doing she is truly a master of her craft. Not only did she color my hair beautifully but she did it without compromising the integrity of my hair. My hair still feels good and curls are still tight. The fact that I have worn my hair out in its natural curly state everyday since, which I hadnt been been doing as much before is a testament to how good Ngina did on my hair. Its a very special thing when a stylist can empower you to feel beautiful and confident in your own style.
Beautiful salon. The staff was very professional and friendly. Ms. Ngina was super attentive. She gave me tips on how to maintain my hair. I was so nervous getting my hair cut but she made the process fun. I will be going there from now on. Price was a little higher than what i was use to but the service was worth it and i know my hair will truly be taken care of.
The stylists were kind, patient, and focused on my hair health. They also offered really helpful tips and knowledge. I left happy with a beautiful silk press full of bouncy curls.
My first visit to Salon Chique and it was great! My hair turned out exactly as I had hoped and I was only in the shop for about 45min. My silk press left my hair straight Smooth and soft and I didnt have to spend my entire evening in the shop to get it. Thanks Candace for the great service!
I absolutely LOVE Studio Chique! I just had my hair silk pressed and trimmed after 3 months of quarantine. My hair was in distress, and now I can say I’m just simply blessed that I was able to get in! They have all sorts of provisions in place to ensure safety while being pampered!Ladies WHAT are you waiting on? 👀 I’d suggest you book b/c I’m booking up appointments faster than Donald Trump’s twitter fingers! 😭
My daughter went today to get her hair done. I cant say enough how much she and I both love her hair. She sent me a picture of it when she was done at the salon and it was so shiny. The young lady who did her hair name was Nia. Nia along with the staff at Studio Chique treated my daughter very well and we were thoroughly pleased with the services and salon.My daughter is not from the area and they went above and beyond to make sure she had great directions to the location with a full description of how and where to enter. Thank you Studio Chique for making a mom so far away feel comfortable in knowing my daughter was in good hands.
I went for the massage services. BUT the entire establishment and experience wowed me! Where do I begin? You walk up a flight of stairs to the first floor which is where hair services are performed. Front desk attendant was sweet and friendly. Stylists are clearly enjoying their work environment, clients are smiling and chatting away. Its refreshing to see a salon so full of life and vibrancy. I was then led upstairs to a waiting area with chic chairs, and refreshments available for guests (coffee, tea, water, pastries!) The massage therapy room is decorated minimally but beautifully, with modern text accents on the wall, a lovely scent, luxurious towels and a plush blanket draped over the massage bed.My therapist was Patreece. I have so many things to say but to summarize: BEST MASSAGE Ive EVER had. As a professional therapist for 11 years, you are literally in GREAT hands. She is so educated and knowledgeable about her field, and her techniques prove that. I was taken to a whole new place and state of mind. Everything about the entire experience was fantastic and I will most definitely be seeing her again! GO HERE!
On October 20th, I was scheduled for a silk press with Ngina at 9am. Upon arriving, Ngina was working with two customers and told another stylist, Nia, to take care of me since their next appointment wouldnt arrive until 9:30am. When Nia began to wash my hair, she lacked enthusiasm and professionalism and seem bothered that she was doing my hair. During the washing process, she detangled my natural hair from root to tip, instead of tips to root. When asking for her expert advice, she provided lackluster responses and was unexcited to help with some of my requests (wrapping, pin curling). When her 9:30 appointment arrived, she went to assist her, while I sat with wet hair for 45 mins (windows in the shop were open too). No sincere apologies or assistance were provided while I waited for her. When she finally returned, she blow dried and flat ironed my hair and gave me a cut. The style was okay--very bland. She had an attitude when I asked for some additional body or curl. When I went home, I was able to saran wrap my hair and sit under the dryer, which provided better results. Its been three weeks since my visit to Studio Chique and now my I am experiencing some heat damage. If I were you, Id avoid this place. This establishment lacks professionalism and decent common courtesy. In addition, based on their behavior, it seems they prefer a certain type of client--definitely not they ladies with 4c hair.
Came here 2 weeks ago because of great reviews. After being natural (4c texture) for the past 15 years, I went in for a silk press. I noticed that my stylist didnt really use heat protectant prior to heat application but what did I know? I havent been in a salon in years simply because I took care of my own hair. Needless to say, I suffered A LOT of heat damage and I regret it now for sure. I emailed the salon but received no response.If you have type 4 hair be very cautious.
I have been a long-time customer of Studio chique ever since my very first big chop! Octavia and Gina have been amazing stylists and I constantly get compliments on my hair and send customers running to Studio Chique. The price point is also exceptional and the salon looks beautiful as well! All the staff are friendly and helpful and I’m always in and out in very little time. Thank you Studio Chique!
I had my first visit back to Studio Chique today and it was amazing. My hair looks and feels healthy after 2.5 months of disregard. Thanks to Nginas blow dry my natural roots look relaxed. Experienced the same great staff and service. Thanks for re-opening!
Best ever salon experience for me! Firstly, the electronic appointment system was fast and efficient. When I arrived Alexis quickly communicated my service request to Nia, the stylist. The owner and everyone were very warm and welcoming. From short finger waved to long natural hair, I have never seen so many beautiful heads of healthy hair!!!!I have fine strands of natural 4b hair. When I met with Nia she was like the perfect hair doctor. She knew exactly what my hair needed. I came in with an itchy scalp, dry, dull hair. Alexis alliveiated the itch during my shampoo. I left Nias chair happy in record time with hydrated, actually shiny, bouncy hair with lots of body! The best part of my experience was that it did not take a full work day to get my hair done; my time was valued, the prices were reasonable, and it was a quality, professional experience created by a highly talented team in a pleasant environment. You will enjoy every stage of your hair journey here because the staff know hair care and styling. Plus they propose hair solutions that work for you.
Honestly all the reviews about the professionalism of this salon are spot on! I randomly found them on Yelp saw the good reviews and figured Id give them a try. I booked a chique press, trim and treatment and whew 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND. My hair has never looked so healthy.
Great atmosphere with knowledgeable stylists who are versatile in all things hair. The range of clients they have goes speaks to their skills and versatility. Studio Chique also offers spa services such as massages and waxing. I use the waxing services often and plan to eventually schedule a massage. Nia and Tara are super sweet and I will continue with them as long as I live in DC.

I found Studio Chique through Google and based on the fantastic reviews, phenomenal customer service over the phone, fair pricing, and ease of making an appointment I made an appointment to get my extensions redone (weave removal, deep condition natural 4C hair, re-do, and style).I arrived 30 minutes late (totally my fault) and they were still able to squeeze me in. In the end, I LOVED MY HAIR.The shampoo by Keith was ahh-mazing, my scalp was in heaven in his hands. Ngina ended up doing my hair in the end due to my lateness (I think) and she was a dream come true. I left with my hair looking like the weave gods had blessed it. Honestly, every single woman who left that salon looked like their hair had been touched by an angel. The stylists overall are meticulous, perfectionists, clearly care about your happiness, your hair health, and their work. Not a single strand of hair will be out of place once a client leaves the salon.Tip: DO NOT BE LATE! I was late and ended up spending a few more hours in the salon than necessary because the stylists had to take other (non-late) clients in between doing my hair. However, I felt the need to for this salon because my experience was top notch.As a licensed cosmetologist I’ve seen my share of salons ( had to give it up when I joined the military)First- the salon is filled with beautiful young black cosmetologists. I remember starting off as a young hair stylist costumers where nervous to have me work on their hair because they translated young=inexperienced. That wasn’t the case for me and not for this salon either! All of the ladies were very knowledgeable about hair health, color theory, and maintenance.Second- Knowledge doesn’t always translate to talent. Here it did. They do it all and do it well! My time at the salon I seen sew-ins, color, waxing, hair cuts. And EVERY costumer left looking beautiful!Third- I have long thick natural hair. They did it with no issue. They knew to detangle before washing and deep conditioning. My stylist was busy so instead of having me wait one young lady in training washed and detangled me. Once my stylist put my deep conditioning in I was able to head upstairs and get waxed!Fourth- Time efficiency. Every moment was accounted for and dealt with purpose. My appointment was last minute and I was asking for allot but they made it happen effortlessly.I’m picky about my trims but Clara knew what she was doing and I felt safe and satisfied. She used just the right amount of products for my silk press so it was not weighed down and greasy but still shiny. No edge tamer which I’m thankful of! And my pop of color (face framing highlight) was everything!Whew the wax and v-facial. Amazing. Did it hurt ? Yes. That’s to be expected but Tara used longer strips thus cutting down the amount of times an area was waxed I.e instead of 20 short rips, 7. The steam felt amazing afterwards. If you’re getting a Brazilian wax I feel this is the only way you should do it.Sorry for the long post but I fell in love and to see young black professional women doing their thing excites me. This will be my new spot !
Decent shop. Super small. Be prepared to be cramped next to someone when you’re seated underneath the dryer. Receptionist eat lunch at the desk while working, which is very unprofessional. Clara is very good, that’s the only reason why I continue to go to this salon. You can tell that it’s black owned. Let’s just leave it at that.
I found Studio Chique through Groupon. It was close to my house so that was perfect. I read the reviews and was quite impressed. I purchased the Groupon and later scheduled the appointment. I must say I was quite impressed with the salon and the service. Especially Tyniesha the esthetician. She was very knowledgeable about the products, the services, and even the follow-up products. Needless to say, I wont be going anywhere else to have my wax services done. Im looking forward to returning and even one day experiencing the facial services!!
First time visiting and my stylist Nia did an awesome job on my hair!!! The negative reviews I see posted did not influence my visit and definitely did not represent the vibe I got from the staff. They had a flow of clients!! Definitely impressed with how fast, professional, and the quality of work I received!! Will be going back!!
Negative environment. Immediately uncomfortable. Over rated and over priced. Paid almost $200 for a rinse, trim and silk press. Hair dresser was very lazy. Went to another salon the next day. I LOVE STUDIO CHIQUE!!! There are so many salons in DC that claim to offer an upscale experience, but Studio Chique delivers on ALL levels! I am very particular about my services, and so many times I have been left wanting more. Ngina and all the staff who worked with me were exactly what you expect when you come to an upscale salon. And the space is beautiful! I will definitely be returning.🤩🤩
My last visit to Studio Chique Salon was a complete nightmare. I have been to this salon before and received awesome service from Ngina (the owner) which is why I am surprised that my visit on March 16th was terrible. I had a closure wig unit constructed by a wig specialist in Atlanta (my home state where people can actually do hair) and since I live in DC for school, I decided to take it to this salon for a press and style(I shampoo the unit myself). The first time was great. However, the second time I decided to have this service done, the lace on the closure was torn. No one could figure out how it happened but all I know is that there was not a tare in the wig prior to my appointment. I was devastated. I spent a total of $800 for this unit using premium virgin Remy hair extensions. Ngina the owner offered to carelessly repair the wig (she just stitched the lace up) but she did not offer to replace the closure that was torn by one of her employees. Ngina was very loud and aggressive when telling me that she was not going to complementary replace the closure and she made me feel as though it was my fault. She also made it perfectly clear that her salon would no longer work on wigs that were not constructed in her salon. I really hate to be this person to leave this review, but I just feel that something more could have been done. She did say that the closure could be replaced if I bought a closure from her and when it comes to purchasing one from her, she would have needed to give me half off. Her closure is $150. She wanted me to buy another closure to replace the one that was torn in her salon. Oh Please! I have nothing against Ngina and her staff is very nice however this last incident has put a bad taste in my mouth. I am hopeful they take this review into consideration for improvement. Thankfully the unit was not completely damaged.
I made an appointment for 430 to get a color, trim and conditioning treatment. I went in very enthused, because I usually do my natural hair myself. Anyway, the stylist I was assigned to was completely over booked. I understand some stylist can manage multiple clients but as a client I feel quit neglected. I waited more than 4 hours to get in the chair. It took 4 hours for my hair to be washed, color lifted, and moisturized. Im still looking for a salon where I fit in.Ps I noticed the manager responded but I am in the datadase. Aleece Palmer.
Other than the wait service was good.. the stylist let me know what I needed to do to keep my hair healthy. The prices we reasonable and their skill is really high and hey keep you entertained.
I moved to the DMV about a year ago and just recently discovered Ngina and Studio Chique. She is such a lifesaver!!! The salon is extremely professional and relaxing. I am so excited that Ive found someone who doesnt just do hair, but also knows how to keep my hair happy and healthy. This place is the best!

Not professional and basically treated me like they didnt need my buisness. The salon xoordinator had no idea of prices or what the services included amd gave me the incoorect prices. I explained that their website had different prices she put me on hold an informed me that i would have to pay the higher price. I was fine with that but she was unsure of the packages...Again i politely informed her that the ultraslim was the cavitation process with RF. But she was still confused. I asked for the manager to ensure i was reserved for the correct treatment. Was Not available. Made a follow up call and same girl with a even bigger attitude. Informed me the manger may call you back tomorrow if she has time. Since they are so confused i dont feel like letting them experiment on me. Serenity Zone Med spa 100% more professional.

O...M...G! This place is amazing. After finding it on Yelp and other internet searches, I was booked for a full sew-in with Candice. My first experience years ago was horrible, so I was very nervous and very stressed about going to a new salon. I was concerned whether they could deliver. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a kind receptionist, who politely confirmed my appointment and answered my questions. Next, came Ashley. OMG...this woman gave me The way she washed my hair, I could have left the salon like that and would have been completely satisfied. Then I met my stylist, Candice, who greeted me and listened to my concerns and preferences for my hair. She understood and not once made me feel uncomfortable. She looked over my head and consulted with Ashley on the braid pattern. I could tell the goal was maintenance and to promote growth. Anywho, due to my current breakage situation, I assumed half of my hair would be left. But apparently Ashleys hands are made with magic! She was able to get all my hair without PULLING *gasp*. (SN: Oh and they both reminded me to speak up if at any time it hurt). Next it was on to Candice for the sew-in, she worked quickly and was delicate with my hair all while being welcoming. Often including me in conversation between her and the other team members. (Special shout out to Dshawn (sp? sorry) who kept me laughing the entire time!). It was evident that the team liked each other and were a family. When it was time for the reveal, Candice spun me around and my jaw dropped! Im 31 and have never worn my hair long and straight because I didnt think it fit my face. That thought went out the window the moment I saw my hair. I will definitely go back! Thanks Studio Chique...Oh and another shout out to the other kind stylist working the next station over. I didnt catch your name but you know who you are!
I was ripped off by this studio. I received a brazilian wax was from adrienne, and not only was she late and annoyingly pushing products, but she also suggested that she should use some hard wax and that it would be a $15-$20 up charge. It was annoying, especially because she used soft wax for everything except 2 tiny strips, but I agreed to pay it. They ended up charging me $20, and when I got home and checked their website it says they only charge $10 for that service. The rest of the staff was very accommodating, but I will not be going back since this studio took advantage of a new customer and ripped me off.
Ngina is exceptional at her craft and works hard to ensure client satisfaction. I highly recommend and trust her consultation on hair care.
I just had a Brazilian wax done here by Tynisha. I have been getting waxes for some years now and this by far was one of the best waxes I have ever gotten in my life. I am not just talking about the actual wax process, but also the professionalism, cleanliness, grace and knowledge!First and foremost, the location is easily accessible. Located right on GA ave, easy to spot, street parking.Second, the place is clean. I was greeted immediately by the receptionist who checked me in and escorted me upstairs (he could have easily said upstairs to the right, but he escorted me there-its the small things).Tynisha greeted me with a firm handshake and explained the next steps. She made me feel extremely comfortable. She then explained the different types of waxes she had on site- which I appreciated. I opted with the basic wax which my Groupon covered but you can get the other waxes and pay the difference. She showed me this coconut oil kind of wax and demonstrated its effectiveness but putting some on my hand to show how it works, it it was so smooth! Definitely a wax that I will have to come back and try! Also, never heard of that wax before and Ive been to SEVERAL salons various areas.As for the actual procedure, I can definitely tell that she has been in the business for 21 years. She was smooth and swift. Although no wax is going to feel like a massage, her movements made this one of the smoothest, least painful waxes I have ever received.She also had great follow up instructions, some suggestions on products and just some overall knowledge in general.I definitely would recommended her for waxing whether its your first or if youre a vet. Flawless experience-I cant emphasize that enough. (Oh and shes quick when it comes to waxing too-as far as how long the wax takes, Ive had waxes that take muchhh longer)I also try to support local black businesses, which this is. But crazy thing is, I didnt even know that when I booked!

I went here to get my hair colored and trimmed. The stylist colored my hair unevenly and the wrong shade and gave me an asymmetric hair cut when I only wanted a trim. I mentioned my dissatisfaction and another stylist agreed to fix it. But she ended up bleaching my hair too much and it was still the wrong shade. My hair was so mistreated that I ended up needing several inches cut off. My new stylist was horrified at what had been done to my hair.
Went in a for a 60-min massage, and it was quite amazing i have to admit. I told her problems ive been having with my shoulder and she focused on those areas and applied heat, i felt much better than when i came in. Will definitely go again and would definitely recommend.
The stylist and the professionalism at this salon is Top Notch!! They are truly focused on healthy hair care. No matter who does your hair you are in and out. I highly recommend Studio Chique!!
The stylist was nice, but late, rushed, and couldn’t even trim straight.While I was waiting, I saw other stylists who seemed to work carefully and diligently so I imagine they are the ones keeping the scores up.Proceed at your own risk, but for me, not worth the risk.

My hair was DAMAGED after attending this salon ONE TIME. For my natural hair girls, unless you are transitioning back to straight hair then I would recommend you go to another salon. The people were nice, but not worth the damage on my hair at all!
Was overcharged after trying multiple times to explain why the service I was coming in for was a partial sew in not a full sew in. They insisted on charging for a full when I had only 2 bundles put in. The owner then proceeded to chastise me for even asking about it saying is it a money issue? Absolutely rude. You dont treat customers like that.
I have been going to see Ngina for the past 10 years. I would follow her anywhere. I love the staff as well. Everyone is pleasant, courteous and professional. I also see Rashida for my brow sculpting. She is great and the only person I trust to do them.
Love this Place! Marsha and Pats massages are AMAZING! Their hands have been touched by a higher power! I always end up in a deep sleep on the massage table. Like drooling and forgetting where I am kind of coma! Trust me you want them in your life. Lol.
I can say one thing her technique was very good . She didnt actually do a deep tissue massage , she is very light handed and when i asked her to apply more pressure she didnt. Even though this was a groupon deal i would have preferred to spend it on a actual individual who would listen to my needs and wants.

As a first time visitor, I called ahead at 11:00am to schedule an appointment for 1:30. I was told the only available time was 12:30. i rearranged my schedule to make that time. When I arrived at 12:30, I waited 25 minutes only to be told that manicurist had a doctors appointment and had not yet arrived. Meanwhile, the other employees giggled and made jokes about my irritation. If you are looking for a professional business that values your time and money, this is not the place.
Octavia has been doing my hair for about 1 year. She is great. She has done everything from cut, color and bleach. I have never left unsatisfied.
Terrible. Very rude from the host to the stylist. Very inflexible to my needs. Plus the stylist tacked on an undisclosed charge to my service and didn’t tell me till it was time to pay. Highly do not recommend.
Bad business ethnics. nowhere on there website states their policies nor was I informed that they have a no child policy. Since I had my daughter with me my appointment was cancelled and I was not allowed to reschedule or be refunded. They said I should have read their policies online which I did before hand and nowhere says anything about no children. I double checked afterwards and still dont see it. Dont go here unless you want to waste your money
Took advantage of me because I was a new customer I guess. Ended up paying an additional 20$ At checkout with zero prior knowledge. . . . Very weird. May not seem like a big deal, but I’m in college(broke). I am also on the basketball team so I have no room for a job, so 20$ is a difference smh. I also have terrible heat damage from my wash, dry and flat iron service.

I have had horrible experiences in DC and this place was a refreshing change. I received quick professional service. Prices are high but the services matches. I had a simple service and wrote that I did not want my head yanked and they did not. Wash/Condtiion and trim went well. I will return to try their installs.
