We were out-of-towners and an older married couple We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks. Service was great, and the coctails were very good. There was a friendly vibe to the bar, and we felt at home amongst our people. The prices are high, but they serve good quality liquor and mixers. We would go back!
We were so disappointed. Bartender Cambrel pretty much ignored us as new customers. Absolutely NO welcome or conversation. Not sure if it was because we are women, out of towners, or if it is just his personality¿¿¿, but it was an awkward experience. Customer Service!!!!
This place has some awesome drinks and staff was friendly. The atmosphere is super relaxed, we had a great time. They play multiple styles of music and have music videos on their tvs. We just happened to stumble across Number Nine while visiting Dupont Circle and what a nice surprise.Remeber to leave a nice tip as the bartender do make nice strong drinks.
Drink prices are sky high. Served a margarita with no salt on the rim. I asked what the rail/bar Scotch is and bartender said they dont have one. (It does, however, have some Scotch.)Pluses: Very mixed white & Black clientele contrasted with DCs all-white gay bars. Quick service on a busy Friday night.
Number Nine is an LGBTQ-friendly/owned space situated in DCs gayborhood between historic Dupont & Logan Circles. People gather at Number Nine for handcrafted happy hour cocktails, a comfortable, well-lit atmosphere, music videos and the occasional live DJ during non-pandemic times. Iterations of this establishment have been serving the queer community for nearly 20 years. Number Nine supports the local community by hosting toy drives and sponsoring local LGBT sports teams, among other activities. Additionally, the ownership has created spaces across their brands that foster the growth of local talent such as performer KC B. Yoncé and artist DJ Chord. Be sure to also check out Nines not-so-sisterly nightspot, TRADE, around the corner on 14th St.
Very nice bartenders and I love their bogo happy hour.
Nice bar but one of the bartenders was very rude to me for no reason. He rudely asked me to move out of the way in two separate occasions after I had already kindly listened to his instructions. Later, I was sitting at the bar, and at the end of the night he rudely took my glas away when I still wanted to drink the last sip. I will be coming back since theres not that many choices for queer bars in DC but I will definitely avoid that one bartender.
One of the premier LGBTQIA+-friendly/owned bars in the District and an excellent venue to partner with for any organized event. My organization and I recently hosted a professional networking event here. The Number Nine ownership and staff were all phenomenal from the initial planning and coordination phases all the way through implementation. Without their exemplary professionalism, hospitality, and service, our event would not have had the success that it did. We are truly grateful and happy to have partnered with this fantastic venue and establishment. Whether or not its for professional or leisure purposes, do yourselves a favor and treat yourself to Number Nine DC vibes. We are looking forward to partnering with them again in the future.
The bartender was so rude for some reason. and they fill the top shelf bottles with low tier liquor so dont bother paying extra for patron and grey goose like we did.they NEED a new DJ. a room full of guys dying to dance and only the worlds most awful generic uhn-tiss dance beat on repeat. a Spotify playlist of 90s pop hits wouldve been infinitely better.
Very happening place, even on a Monday. Fun 80s music videos on the tv, very hot staff, I swear everyone ar this bar were very attractive, especially the staff. Id be back any time.
Decent bar. All ages and ethnicities. I love the two-for-one before 9:00 - just make sure you don’t lose your receipt. Can get pretty crowded on Fridays after work. Up and downstairs. Upstairs plays music and videos on a couple of small screens. Downstairs is usually ambient type music if someone isn’t playing on the piano.I give this place 3 stars. If the music was better (it’s mostly Lady Gaga or Madonna type songs) and they offered some type of bar food like fries or chicken fingers (anything to help soak up the liquor), I’d rate this place 5 stars. But I’ll be back again.
I am new to the area. I looked up a place to go and unwind after work. Sadly this wasnt what I expected, after being ignored at the bar for 18 minutes I had to go to the bartender in order to get a drink. To my surprise I was not even greeted but handed a drink and left unattended for the rest of the visit. If a good experience is what youre looking for I highly recommend to look elsewhere as youll receive nowhere near that at this establishment.
Everyone behind the bar is beyond nice & spectacular + the venue is good + gay + gorgeous so clearly top notch scores all around
This place amuses me. It tries to have a sort of upscale vibe (and drinks are outrageously priced), but the crowd is loud and rowdy, mostly in a fun way. Its usually at least 1/2 sharp African American clientele. If you have a wing-man, you might get lucky, but otherwise no one talks to anyone they dont already know. Avoid the ground floor on Friday evenings, they have a deliberately-awful piano bar thing going on to actually discourage people from congregating near the entrance. It hilarious when you realize thats happening, but its maybe the worst musical performance youll ever experience.
One of the best gay bars in DC! The bogo happy hour until 9 cannot be beat. Usually pretty busy on the normal nights but not uncomfortably so. If youre visiting DC this bar should be on your short list.
Great bar for someone checking out the gay scene in DC! Its fun and the buy one get the second free drink before 9 is the best! I like the bartender Bass - always friendly and sweet, he makes good drinks too! Thanks Bass
Went on a Saturday night, crowded night crowd means the place is doing something good. I will say it was hard to get around and the narrow bar didn’t allow for much dancing or movement at peak time. The drinks were strong and friendly bartenders, would go back!
Nice place but very unfriendly personnel. I talked to a blonde young guy for a table and she looked at me like sht and didnt even responded. I seated with 3 more people and waited for 15 minutes and nobody came to ask or being a menu. Ill never come back.
The drink was good, the prices are high and bartender was absolutely dry. He even complained to his friend about having to walk to the other end of the counter since he was the only bartender. The bar wasnt busy and clearly he didnt care for anyone but his friend. Not inviting or welcoming...
Horrible host! Had a reservation for 5 ppl at 6pm. Got there about 30 min early and saw that the outside tables (which are walk-in only) were available and by the heaters. We sat and went to tell the host we will take that table and cancel our other reservation. He rudely told us we must get up and wait. We asked why since it was walk-in outside not reservation tables. He didnt answer that question but told us if we dont get up wed be removed from the property all together! So we got up and stood outside on P street. 6 pm came and no call. Checked in on the host and said it was delayed. (No appologies) FINALLY we were sat inside at 6:30 pm - 30 minutes after our scheduled reservstion. Not a big deal, but irratating. BUT at 8 pm the same host said our time has expired and we need to pay and leave (we just order another round) We explained that they were late seating us, and can we please stay to finish our drink and leave at 8:30 (within the ACTUAL 2 hour limit) We got the same rude answer - He didnt answer that question but told us if we dont get up wed be removed from the property all together! BTW that outside table that we got kicked out sat UNUSED the entire time we were there! DO NOT GO to this please. We still tipped our bartender well (not his fault) but it was totally rude and unneeded. RUDEST host ever. We will go elsewhere from now on.
I’m a gay Englishman living in Palm Desert California, my 79yr old Mum & her Wife had drinks here this evening. They LOVED how they were treated by everyone, staff & customers!…… Thank you all for making my Mum feel so welcome ❤️
Mix between martini bar, video bar, with the music and feel of a and lower impact club. Crowd tends to be late 20s to upper 30s and not a lot of shenanigans or people with something to prove - this is rare in DC. If you want to get away from the kids but still want to go out to a hip pace, this is a great option.Best feature: a REAL bar with real ingredients. Some things like cognac are limited but i am still impressed for what this place is, it is almost as equipped as a McCormick and Schmicks Bar.
Nice bar. Was recommended by the locals. Decent drinks. Nice music
Great little gay bar. Good (and stuff) drinks and the best (and longest) happy hour around. A little bit of a scene, but quite what you would expect. They have occasional themed nights. Its a very comfortable place to go for a good drink or two.
José and Bass are legit well guests care takers. Their drinks were strong and even paid attention to how much water we still have remaining in our glasses.... Other than of course whether we needed a refill.... See you soon.. As we mentioned, coming back to miami. Time and secret detail in them, hopefully. Then we are able to see an unusual eight tickets.
Best gay lounge in the city. Always a rather professional and diverse crowd which is exceptional. The happy hour is daily and one of the best deals in DC. I have nothing but good things to say about this place.
One of DCs best gay bars! Ive received great service from Ward El., Jake Re., and Eric Sc. at the bar. My friends and I enjoy the vibe and especially the buy one get one specials!
I had a bartender here complain to me that I didn’t tip enough. He made a scene and was incredibly disrespectful. He told me to cross out my tip on the receipt and put zero because it wasn’t enough for him.
I can come here whenever I want. There is never any open seat at the bar. It seems like large groups always occupy the entire bar, and I, as single person, am then supposed to sit by myself in the corner. nahh. I pass.
This must be the best gay bar in DC. The bar is cute and modern. The bartenders were nice, the music not so much. But it is great , I recommend it.
One of my favorite bars in the city. Staff is always friendly and the vibe is always fun - plus they have buy one get one until 9pm.
Honestly boring. People just stand around and talk. There’s no dance floor, everyone’s just looking at each other.. definitely not for someone who wants to have a good time and enjoy their night while letting loose.
Rude outside staff . When someone is new and visiting they should be more understanding and accommodating . The staff working on the patio where so demeaning . I felt very unsafe and uncomfortable .
Very nice spot, A place to have a drink or two or three and some good conversation. Great eye candy. Some one said racially inclusive. WTH does that mean
Good bar for pregaming or hanging out with friends. Fair amount of seating. Get doubles.
This place is great for 2 for 1 drinks between happy hour and where you need to be for the night. Wish they were more racially inclusive.
The staff literally doesnt know whats going on. Like for someone whos from out of town there should at least be a hostest saying seat yourself or when you ask the bartender a question he might have an answer other than idk.
Best gay bar in town. Strong drinks, hot bartenders, enough said. A must go to place to check out.
A nice environment and great happy hour. The bartenders are great and there is a good mix of music.
Nice looking venue but zero atmosphere.. Bar tenders that are coldly efficient (a smile wouldnt hurt) and average cocktails ,.. Shame really
Its cold in here. Air conditioner blasts year round. People leave because its cold. Lol 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Fantastic happy hour. Friday night vodka promos. Friendly bouncer
Very nice venue, good drinks and cute guys.
No draft beer, place was way to crowded, poor music selection.
Had a great time here. Prob the best looking crowd in dc. More professional vibe than other clubs in dc.
Treats lesbians like we are worthless! Asked for a double talk, was told ny a customer you cant order doubles here. Treated poorly because we are female. Screw this bullshit!
Great, just wished they would keep their holiday hours updated.
Its a fu bar to go have drinks, went there on a Wednesday , music was fun, drinks not too expensive, crowd was mixed, bar tender friendly!
Turned away at the door because bar was closed for a private event not advertised on website.
Great experience! Bartenders are pleasant and engaging... cool crowd
One of my favorite bars. Super chill with great drinks.
There was no Happy Hour and my margarita was watered down. 😟👎🏻
Go to bar for a great 2-4-1 happy hour until 9pm and a friendly local vibe.
It looks fun. It’s just a bit crowded at some hours.
As a Black queer person, this has never felt like a safe space for me.
Excellent bar and drinks! Great people and good music!
Great 2 for 1 specials before 9 and sexy bartenders :)
Very cute place and Steven was really friendly and helpful to me while i was visiting. :)
Still amazed about how fast they made our drinks…
Definitely the spot! Definitely gonna be back
Come on. Quit being cheap. Get plant based or reusable straws. Try to class it up a tad.
DCs only gay bar I strive to avoid
Casey makes amazing drinks!
They put dusty on my TAB receipt. RACIST GAY WHITE QUEENS. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
Great Happy hour. 2 for 1 until 9
Great atmosphere. Great guys (especially my husband)!
A fun spot to stop in for 2-4-1 drinks and televised events
Great vibe, great atmoshphere, strong drinks, overall like this place.
Always a good spot with friendly service and a fun atmosphere!
