Ivo Massage Washington DC

Ive had three massages with Ivo so far. I first went to him because his prices are very affordable/competitive for DC (especially with the packages he offers). Its also super easy to get an appointment. Ive continued to go because his technique is great. The signature massage is the perfect combination of therapeutic and relaxing.

There are lots of MTs in the Washington, DC, area, and they all make claims about how good they are. I have found none better than Ivo. If you are seeking a real therapeutic massage because of injury or stress, Ivo is the go-to guy! He is personable and professional, and he knows human physiology.I first experienced his expertise about five years ago, when my long-time MT moved away. I tried several DC-area massage therapists who were pretty good but I kept looking around until I found Ivo. The review that first caught my attention was from a client who called him the human foam roller. Thats a very good description of his techniques for going after problem areas that are tight with tension.Even though I travel significant distance (and put up with DC parking) I continue to bring my sore body to Ivo for real, truly deep tissue work. He’s the best in town.

An artist needs a brush, a musician needs an instrument. A masseuse needs good hands, and Ivo’s is the best. Large, strong, with attention to detail. Good at any price, but especially a good value with a package of three. This guy knows his craft.

Best in America? Maybe. But he needs to move his business because first impressions make a difference. But Ivo is worth the traipse into DuPont with the decaying glory of yesteryear and the stench of skunk and desperation. You can book online. That’s the easy part. Once you find the address for his business where he has been located since 2006, you will wonder about the seedy and sketchy neighborhood. Located near nightclubs and fast food joints, the door is up a few wonky steps, paint peeling like dandruff. Once you get in, it’s up stairs like a walk up in Queens. The carpet on the stairs is a dried blood color. There is renovation going in the building so a layer of white powder coats everything. At the top of the stairs is a foyer table smothered in white dust and envelopes. To enter the spa, one needs a code. Use the one that Ivo sends. If you ring the doorbell, an unfriendly gate keeper will begrudgingly let you in, or maybe we snuck in when he was letting them out… I believe he also has his business there. Anyway… then you will have access to seats, water, toilet, etc. as Ivo will greet you there. But, then you have to go up another flight of stairs…Then, finally, in a large room diffused with soft light and music, you will get one of the best massages of your life. I have had hundreds all over the world and by some of the best in the world, and Ivo is very good. He has a pleasant manner, he listens to what you want, and then his strokes are even, regular, modulated, and constant. The table is heated which is cozy, and the table can be moved up of down which is great for those of us who have short legs. Getting on and off the table was less dangerous. Thank you. Ivo uses a lotion/cream so you don’t feel greasy afterwards. I really like that. Ivo is friendly but professional so I suppose you can talk or not, depending on what you like.In conclusion, Ivo is worth it if you are willing to accept climbing two flights of stairs and dealing with the temporary construction dust.But, Ivo, please move to a nicer building with an elevator. I won’t come back to DuPont just for you. At least that’s how I feel today. Please, please, please. Pretty please, move.It would be worth it. Your fans would follow you. You are a star, Ivo! Five here but really more like seven ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️Update May 2024: And he has moved! Hopefully the new location is more conducive to the calm massages.

Ivo is excellent! He really listens to you to understand how best to support you and to create the optimal massage plan for your needs. I see Ivo regularly for an old back injury and his massages have changed my life. I highly recommend!

I have been going to Ivo for massage for several months now, and I get the deep tissue massage. Ivo is very knowledgeable about massage and soft tissue mechanics/anatomy, so he is able to easily alleviate pain and tension that I identify for him. He can apply a great deal of pressure--sometimes thats what you need--but he is also good about asking and listening to make sure the experience remains comfortable. All of this is a great value because he has very competitive pricing. I feel really lucky that I found Ivo when I moved to the area.

Ivo does a great job for a reasonable price. His business is also very accessible, right by the DuPont metro station. I was very happy with the service and plan to return in the future. Ivo can be very heavy-handed, which I prefer. So be prepared to communicate if this is not your preference, and make sure you signed up for the correct type of massage.

Ivo is amazing. Anytime I mention problem areas, my massage is tailored based on the information provided. I get the 90 minute signature massage. My tight hamstrings, left shoulder, and quads always feel great when I leave. Oh and he got the soreness out of my shins. That was a bonus because I didnt mention it.

Ivo works very patiently and meticulously into every problematic muscle that I have, big or small. Ive been to countless massages and PTs so I need a lot of pressure to feel the difference, and Ivo always accommodates the level of pressure I requests. I have had several back surgeries and Ivos deep tissue massages do wonders to release any tightness in my back, hips and legs. I feel rejuvenated after my massage. I have a bad back that requires regular massage therapy. I tried many therapist before finding Ivo 8 years ago. After more than 200 massages with him, Ivo is still the best! Earlier this week I had my first massage session with Ivo after hearing and reading so much about him and how good he is and what an exceptional masseur he is. I scheduled a 90-minute deep tissue massage and explained in a text and in a discussion with him for about five minutes before he began the massage the severe pain and numbness I was suffering for over a year due to three damaged vertebrae in my lower back and the nerves associated with them. This caused wrap-around pain on my torso and even pain down my left leg into my foot. I had not slept properly in many months.The session was intense as he instinctively worked his way right into the sources of the problem. Never have I experienced such a wonderful, therapeutic experience. I felt relief immediately and the improvement has lasted and made my life almost immediately better. As an avid cyclist and yoga practitioner, I had just about given up these activities over the past year. I resumed them the day after this massage and have slept through the night every night since the massage. Ill be going back as much as possible and cannot thank him enough for giving me back important parts of my life and daily activity.

This week, as we were preparing to move out of our apartment, I twisted my back on a Thursday morning, and by Saturday I knew something had to be done about the unpredictable muscle spasms before move day.
