My husband and I absolutely love the club and its amazing team. A home away from home for us, a very special place of timeless elegance, class and history. We appreciate all it offers: cozy rooms, fantastic library, great dining, convenient parking and a gym space. Literally all you need when you stay in the city for a few days. And I just cannot thank the team enough for keeping it so beautiful and making it so welcoming. ❤️
Update 2023 - another Christmas and another fabulous brunch. Great food … and loved sitting in teh main room under George Washington. Very elegant affair and made it feel super Christmas-y.Came here for a very special Christmas Day brunch. The food was buffet and all of it was lovely, waitstaff was very attentive, and it was an easy place to go with kiddos.
I would just like to call out the incredible kindness of the staff at the club. I recently tripped on a broken sidewalk stone and sprained my ankle in front of the club. Two of the clubs doormen, Keith and Jacob, immediately rushed to my assistance. They sat with me, made sure I was ok and even helped me retrieve my car from the nearby parking garage. They went above and beyond and I am so very grateful for their kindness.
We are members for over 20 years, and visited recently for the first time since we last lived in the area in the naughty aughts. The epitome of a 5 star exclusive members-only club. It is a bit on the anachronisticly stodgy side, and coat and tie the rule fo dining. Collared shirt and slacks are appropriate for wandering the property, and you can come and go in more casual attire. Note that shorts are only acceptable for the fitness center, though you could probably get away with them if you are going out sightseeing and dont dawdle on the way back to your room (assuming youre staying there). Jeans in DC at summertime is not fun.Wonderful facilities filled with military history memorabilia. Definitely check out the small, but well stocked library, and the Daquiri Lounge, where the popular libation was introduced to the United States. Nicely appointed rooms, and a bargain compared to the average room price in DC.We enjoyed an excellent Sunday brunch with friends, and made prior arrangements for the Pershing room which meant we could catch up in a quieter space than the main Dining Room. Its an exquisite place. Find a member and finagle an invitation for Brunch. If you are military, and in the DC area, you should consider joining. Great for networking, and they offer many interesting lectures and events monthly. Its been worth maintaining our membership for all these years.
It will leave you with a memorable experience. The food is fantastic in presentation and taste. The staff are friendly, respectful, and very accommodating.
Staff was extremely rude and unprofessional in a way that would not be expected in a club like this. I have travelled to hundreds of clubs worldwide and never experienced such unprofessional service before. Would definitely not recommend.
Very cool place for events with good food. I was particularly impressed with two things. First, the staff is incredible. Very helpful and courteous, most of them have a great knowledge of the location. Second, the historical items at the club are amazing. Lots of great paintings, documents, busts, statues, and displays are shown throughout the place. I wish I had more time to explore it.
Such a beautiful venue! Came with a group for lunch a few weeks ago. Very quiet and relaxed ambience. We were served rather quickly, In and out, perfect for tight lunch schedules. Reasonably priced, $18 for the burger with fries. Very filling and perfectly cooked.*Someone in the party must be a member to dine here.
Very distinguished club with an impressive history. Excellent staff. My honor to have been your guest.
The food was flavorful and the ambience was nice. The only downside is the valet parking is a nightmare if theres a large crowd.
The meals at the Club are always very good. Dont ever turn down the opportunity if invited.
Its the best-kept secret in Washington, DC. Outstanding food and service that is second to none. Best private club in the United States.
The food was good but the dessert was better. The German chocolate cake was one of the best I have ever had. Our waiter and bus staff was attentive. The buffet included options for all palates but I needed to add salt to the lamb.
The ANC has an impressive decor and rich history. The food is excellent and the service is fantastic. Try to include time for a drink in the daiquiri lounge before or after dinner or as a stand alone event in your visit to the club.
Absolutely beautiful place, I enjoyed a delicious dinner here when I attended a dear friends wedding. I provided music for the cocktail hour of this wedding, held upstairs. The staff was helpful and directed my piano quartet upstairs to a private green room where we could stash our cases for our instruments while we played. The piano is a black baby grand and was nicely tuned and maintained, though the space where it was positioned - a nook at the end of a hallway - was pretty small. All guests, musicians included, were well looked after throughout the evening. The only thing Ill say is that there seemed to be some confusion with vendor meals for the other musicians and staff working at the wedding, but these things happen when youre catering to such a large group of people! Had a great time overall in this extravagant venue.
Too stuffy. Not too business-friendly, with many missing usual benefits of a hotel in a metro city
Very impressed. Last minute need for room was met with ease. Brunch was wonderful. Perfect staff. Now reconsidering earlier offers of membership.
Really enjoyed the food and history!
Very fine bit not spectacular message in a wonderful atmosphere.
Exceptional club dedicated to supporting a community for those in uniform who serve and served our nation.
We have loved being members of the ANC. They have great events (love the Armed Forces Gala!) and the food is fantastic. Every meal we have had has totally knocked it out of the park. Brunch is a must-do and we dont go frequently enough. The location is also fantastic. Its close to the White House and other major DC attractions. We stayed in the hotel and it was well appointed. The beds were comfortable and they had a beautiful clawfoot bed. It wasnt as updated as you will find in other hotels, but it had a lot of charm and all of the necessary amenities. We love the atmosphere inside the club. When you walk inside, youre greeted by friendly staff. Ive never met a disgruntled or unhelpful employee. Ive generally felt that they have gone above and beyond for us. The main dining room overlooks Farragut Square. It has tall ceilings and massive paintings representing the Army and Navy (Go Army!). The Daiquiri Lounge upstairs is fantastic as well. You MUST try a daiquiri! Its an ANC original and a classic. Though be warned: it will ruin all other daiquiris for you from anywhere else. All in all, our favorite place to dine out in DC. We love bringing our friends and family to the Army and Navy Club. If you get a chance, join!
I would rate this hotel as zero stars if I could. Imagine yourself trying to sleep but there is a loud mechanical buzzing noise in the ceiling that goes off randomly every 2-30 seconds. Just when youre about to fall asleep, it loudly buzzes. Good luck answering emails with the racket. Oh, and the smoke detector has bright green flashing lights and the pillows are paper thin. You too could spend tomorrow sleep deprived with neck pain! The ANC prides themselves on tradition first, and lodging quality last.
Not only an incredible location but the bar had a superb selection of mixed drinks and wide range of wines. Dining there was an experience... superb wait staff and excellent presentation. Sponsored by a friend as its a members only access but loved it! Definitely try to go on a Tuesday for the seafood buffet... fresh oysters were awesome! Per DC mandate, be sure to wear a mask and have proof of vaccination handy...oh, and dont forget you need to wear a dresss jacket to dinner.
Outstanding amenities and service. Try the Daiquiri Lounge for an evening destination. Fare in the dining room is top-notch.
Was here for Fathers Day brunch and the menu was truly spectacular. Great venue to spend time with family and eat till your hearts content. Very attentive and friendly staff.Have now done Easter brunch and Christmas brunch. Always impressed when we visit
Invited to dinner by a family friend. The menu was tantalizingly descriptive and offered a wide array of cuisine. The multiple courses were each a tribute to culinary perfection. The taste of the food was superb, from appetizer to dessert. Some of the items Ive never experienced or heard of before, and the ones I tried were exquisite. Kudos to the chef. The atmosphere was highbrow as coat and tie were expected to be worn by gentleman and appropriate attire by the ladies. Interior architecture and wall hangings or beautiful with many of a historical value and nature. The staff was very professional and the club is centrally located in DC. Easy to find, beautiful decor and great dining. They certainly do it right here!
Membership required. Good food & awesome historic environment.
The menu is excellent. This is a terrific place to come to for a good meal and for a special occasion. The bison steak is fantastic, that is so far my favorite meal here. The sauce that comes with the steak is perfect, the chef knows his/her cooking. You cannot go wrong with anything you order. The gazpacho soup is nice, cool and has the perfect amount of spice. The waiter we had was very friendly and very helpful with helping to choose the wine. The tuna they have for the appetizer was very tasty and was cooked just right leaving the center nice and raw. The facility is very clean and well maintained. The upstairs bar, the Daiquiri Bar, is well know for being the birthplace of the Daiquiri in America. I love the dining room, the high ceilings and atmosphere is very upscale. This is a great place to be a member of in Washington D.C. On Tuesday nights they have a fantastic Surf and Turf dinner that has a wide selection of fine meats and fish.
The place needs some updating. The decor is a bit on the old-fashioned side. Too many wooden pannels, it gives it a solemn gloomy atmosphere...
This is a membership club. Fine old building with high ceilings and lots of dark wood. The bit of civilization youd have hoped. Wonderful library and dining room in particular.
Awesome ambience, great service!
Impeccable classic service in a refined setting. The dress code has loosened a bit but the casual dress does not detract from the overall experience.
The food was adequate, steak was tough as it was served medium smh. The Army and Navy Club was interesting. The walls were covered with artwork of generals from various revolutionary rebellions and the Civil War era much to my dismay.I was curious to visit since only 50 years ago my ancestors werent allowed entry into this establishment or the private club. Needless to say, I wont ever be there again.
Definitely a historical place with a few different bars, restaurants, and banquet rooms. Its a private club so you just cant walk in off the street and get a beer. Went to a friends retirement dinner, and while the food was good, it was far from great. Guess its all about the ambiance.
A little on the pricy side for food and drinks but great atmosphere.
Absolutely perfect brunch for all seven of us. The food was delicious and the staff is superb there. Such an interesting library too! It all made our time there perfect!
The bar is beautiful. I came as a reciprocal member from the Liberal Club in London. It was a bit of a faff to get in. We were given the wrong instructions, so I have to leave my wife at dinner to go back to reception to get a card. But the food was good and the drinks in the bar after were great.
Nestled in the heart of DC, this exclusive club is members only and puts on great events!Update: had lunch today and it was great. Dont forget the desert. Well done kitchen staff and culinary experts!
I am a member, so take my review with a grain of salt. Very good dining options. Bar is a solid club bar, specialty is mixed drinks. There is a gym, but it is a tad cramped. Very good accommodations if you have reciprocals with a club back home.
Please be aware this is a private club. It’s lovely and in a great location. Excellent food and service. It’s a great place to stay while in town or to hold a large event. Beautiful building with a lot of history.
Such a classy place to have an old-school fancy meal - if you are a member or can get one to invite you. Make sure to check out the bar in the basement - much more casual and low-key. Excellent service.
Elegant place. Classic, sophisticated atmosphere. The food was tremendous. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Washington DC at this place. Ive been there many times before and will return the first chance I get.
Great ambiance and welcoming environment, right in the heart of DC! Especially great for members of the DoD or veterans who are looking for camradarie. Rating this 4.5 stars, and would be 5 stars if not for the food which is fine but not at the same level of surrounding establishments.
Old school ambience and excellent food and wine. Hidden gem is the library!
Excellent as usual. Glad the Corona Crappola was lifted. What BS DC had to endure.Always top notch. Service. Food. Atmosphere.Top notch. Excellent as always.
Gorgeous architecture, phenomenal staff that truly appreciate the tradition of our military, great food, and historic location. Whats not to love?If you get the chance to attend an event here, I highly recommend taking the opportunity.
Wonderful, classy, good service and delicious food. First time there, and I hope Im invited back.
Sorry, but it was well below my expectations. I ordered a BLT Chicken Chipotle sandwich and the bacon was microwaved burnt to a crisp. It fell apart as soon as I touched it. Whats worst, when I told the waitress, she brought me more burnt bacon! The mushroom soup was a winner and so were the fries. Oh and overall the service was pleasant and friendly.
Absolutely wonderful place. My daughter and her partner took my wife and I there for our 40th anniversary.Great meal and service.
Attended the 3rd Annual Womens CyberSecurity Networking Breakfast. Beautiful space and breakfast was really good. The Club is kept up nicely. 👌
Front desk staff was awesome. Rooms were *barely* adequate. Doormen/Valets we’re HORRIBLE. Rude: unprofessional. CHAUVINISTIC. GROSS.
Convenient downtown DC location, next to Farragut Park, close to two Metro stops. Valet parking. Membership required. Excellent dining, stately formal surroundings.
Old fashioned quality, quiet, charming and historical place. Wooden panels, paintings, high ceilings and carpets are witness of a glorious past. By invitation only.
Great space for my friends wedding reception, including a bar area, food buffet, dance floor and all the wonderful views from the outside terrace.
Always a wonderful time. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The foid in the dining room is fantastic. Peter in the bar is so friendly and efficient.
We were there for a wedding. It was handled exceptionally well. Great staff made the experience very nice.
Everytime Im in DC, I stay here. Im fortunate enough to be a member. Great location. Great environment
Fantastic spot great food and staff
Dated! The dining room is still one of the most stunning in DC, but the rest of the place feels stuck in a Time Warp!
Love being a member here. A great place to bring friends and coulees alike. The food and drink are good and the book series they hold are fantastic.
I have been a member for 30 years, my Father, USN, WWII and Korea, was a lifetime member, the absolute best private club in Washington, D.C., excellent ambiance, excellent food and food service, outstanding staff, and 3 blocks from the White House, and walking distance to Georgetown, and other wonderful areas of the center of D.C., I can not say enough, OUTSTANDING!
I was in DC for a meeting and stopped in to see the place. I am not a member but identified myself as a retired Army Office looking for a quiet place to think before my meeting. The staff couldnt have been more welcoming. It is a fantastic club and I look forward to joining it in the near future.CPT Christopher F. SheridanUS Army Special Forces (Ret.)
Well run, great events, great people. Have met extraordinary people every time I attend an event. Love the lunch atmosphere.
While this club is very exclusive, the food and service is five stars.
A classic serene and quiet experience. Very enjoyable. Two hours flew by with great conversation. Good food and service.
Excellent experience! This is a first class hotel and club. The General Manager, John, is very friendly and nice to talk with.
An iconic location, full of historical art and portraits. Service and food are top notch. A wonderful DC experience.
Went there as a guess to attend a class reunion breakfast. Food and service was Great.
Classic accommodations, incredible dining, well maintained with right balance between formality and casual. Impressive library.
A wonderful club. Great food and service. Tradition and honor and honor are an integral part of the experience. Highly recommended.
A great place, if you are there for the restaurant don’t forget bringing your tie. (full formal attire)
Been a member for 25 years. Moved away for work and just recently started reintroducing myself. Fantastic hospitality, comraderie, food and drinks
Wonderful place to be a member or guest, fine food, lovely rooms for events and recently modernized hotel rooms, plus gym and military library
Have had multiple meals here during different times of day. Excellent meal each time.
Very tasty rib eye dinner at the Eagle Grill. Great service from Leonard.
Excellent lunch. Fabulous menu. Great Service. Always a pleasure.
The ANC is an oasis in the heart of DC. If you are affiliated with the military, you should consider joining
Great location, staff, food… tub!!
Love it the Tues Seafood Buffet. And everything else.
My favorite club!
Beautiful solid traditional venue with beautiful woodwork and artwork. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Super fancy and elite, so you need a friend to get in, but it is a lovely building and dinner was wonderful.
This is a beautiful, exclusive club for military personnel and retirees. It is an elegant old world facility with great food and staff.
Great setting. Great service. Historic venue. Excellent food.
Private club with excellent restaurant, large military themed library, and guest room accomodations for its members and their guests. Impeccable service.
I’ve been all over the world for work, before and after the military. This is still, hands down, the finest, most distinguished private club I have ever been privileged enough to experience.
Beautiful club. Recently attended s friends wedding and the food and service was excellent .
Nice place with very nice employees. The rooms are nice size and well appointed.
