Best Dance Club in Atlanta. Food is good and well priced. Staff is friendly and Bartenders are great along with the servers , all working hard to please the crowd. Dance with yourself or with partner, it all meshes into the dynamic energy of the dance floor. Music goes on strong with hits you will recognize from the past. You will come back for more....TIP well you will be REMEMBERED.The FUN is waiting for you.
We went on late night Friday about 11:30/12am. There was a line to get in, the wait time was about 20 minutes. People in the line respectful, no one complained for having to wait. There was $10 cover charge, that’s a reasonable price. Once in, wow! It’s packed. It didn’t take long to be served a drink. The dance floor was booty to booty, should to shoulder. It’s a little overwhelming but once I got my groove on, I forgot about the fact that my body was touching strangers. The DJ played a variety of genres, popular songs everyone knows. Rap, country, rock, Spanish, Pop…etc. The demographics were 21 and up, I saw a variety of age groups, cultures, ethnicities, sexualities, and genders. Everyone was smiling, laughing, having a great time. It was Fun! Fun! Fun! I will definitely return. I would like to try their food. Someone was eating, I hope it tastes as good as it looks. I will provide and update on food. Go to Johnny’s and shake your groove thing!
We had fun at Johnnys on Friday night. Our bartender Montie took great care of us. He was professional and focused. The place was busy, and the service was on point all around. They sure know how to create a nostalgic mood. I love how much fun everyone was having! The music was fab, and when it got super crowded, it was the perfect time to head home. Arrive early to be sure and get a seat. Enjoy!
I have to admit this is an interesting place. This was my first visit and I have to say, busy place. Not knowing what to expect, the crowd was mixed. The music was good. The food was not bad. The dance floor was crowded and never changed. Its been a long time since I stood in a line to get into a place. They have a cover charge and a huge skip the line fee. The bartenders pour stiff drinks. I noticed several people who definitely enjoyed the pours. I would stop in again during my next trip to town. I didnt go for the food, but the atmosphere.
Came in after the having the beginning of a great night. Was forced to buy a shirt even though I was wearing a lovely vest and shirt.Tried to have a good time. Staff wasn’t having basic fun.Was legendary but sadly Jonny’s if passing :/
I actually really like it here. Good service, good drinks and great dance floor. I love the variety of music played. I’m young with an old soul so I get to hear all my classics from Frank Sinatra to Whitney Houston. Speaking of Sinatra they have an area for seating names after him with old pictures and memorabilia. They do serve food which was okay for bar food. Definitely helps when drinking. Even with a full house you get serviced quickly. Valet parking is available or you can just Uber there. People actually dance which is one of the best parts to me. Not just sitting around being boring
You come here to sing and dance all night long. It is the intersection of inclusion and dance your face off. All ages, all races and all people are welcome here.
Bouncers are rude, won’t let us in cus we are wearing regular out wear shorts. Bouncers made fun of my friend and I, for wearing regular shorts. Definitely going have to up their service or they aren’t having no business here. I am appalled by the way the service was, didn’t even get through the door and got turned down for wearing regular shorts. Hope this changes in the future or they aren’t going to have a lot of service especially the youth.
Had to check this spot out. Jaw dropping layout upon entering. I’ve never seen anything like it. I enjoyed the DJ, Elvis memorabilia and disco ball. It would be cool if they do live entertainment again. Amazing experience. My cheeseburger and tots were too salty but I don’t care. I still give this business 5 STARS because it is immaculate. Would love to celebrate my birthday here someday 👏
Update- I contacted the email as requested and the management never contacted me. As stated, they dont care about how customers are being disrespected by staff...I am in my 50s and have been going to Johnny’s with big groups of friends once or twice a year for 15 years. Last night’s visit was definitely the last. A friend of mine was having a party and had three tables full of people. I came separately with a separate group of 10 friends who didn’t know that group at all. Coincidentally, there were two available tables next to her group and the host told us we could sit there as long as we all go on one Check and Only bought drinks from the waitress. I understand this policy and have abided by it in the past. Then One of the staff members said that since we knew somebody in the other group, we had to be on the Bill with 20 people we did not know. After a lot of back-and-forth, he agreed to let our group occupy the other two tables as long as it was not more People than there were seats so it would not be too crowded for the staff. We also understood and agreed to that. The Manager above him came over and started yelling at our group saying this is not how it’s done and then singled out one of his guests saying that he “always does this”, loudly Yelled at him in front of the entire room of customers and threatened to ban him from Johnny’s. He was literally just standing at a table and had not been to Johnny’s in a year. He is also 60 years old. I guess there may have been some confusion one other time in the past, but that’s it. Either way, Yelling and trying to humiliate a guest would never be acceptable in any establishment. None of this group of about 50 people will ever support this institution again, not to mention that it is no longer in a safe part of town, there is a lot of crime, and there is an underbelly of Drugs and predators all around the dance floor and bar. It’s creepy and unsettling. Two of my friends in their 50s gotten groped inappropriately by strangers on the way to the bathroom. They must have a new DJ also because the last two times I was there the playlist was not fun like it used to be. Two girls last night told me that they are hearing more and more stories about women getting roofied there as well. Time for people who enjoy good clean fun, safety, a great playlist with appreciative respectful management to find someplace else to go! You will find none of this at Johnny’s Hideaway!!! Sad truth…
*Didnt try the food*Overall, Johnnys gets a 4/5 stars in my book. The vibe is great. We got there at about 8PM and it was pretty full already. By the time we left at 11:30, it was basically shoulder to shoulder in the entire place. When I say the drinks are strong, I mean the drinks are STRONG. I was drinking beer. Friend got a Redbull Vodka - if you told me it was straight vodka, I probably wouldve believed you. If youre drinking for the flavor, maybe try something else. If you want a strong drink, boy is this the spot for you.I did not realize there was a dress code prior to getting there. My fault for not checking. Was wearing jeans, a flannel, and underneath a shirt with some print on it. Took the flannel off when I got a bit warm, one of the bouncers/employees did ask if I would put my flannel back on to cover the printed tee. No harm - just pointing it out.The service was pretty solid for how busy the place was. Waitresses were kind, and quick to bring drinks. The bartender was pretty quick to notice new patrons standing by the bar to order drinks. My three gripes are:1. By the time we left, it was almost too busy. Literally shoulder to shoulder in the whole place. So much so you might as well be throwing elbows just to make it to the restroom. But if thats what youre looking for, this is a great spot!2. There was a plethora of other patrons who had team logos, brand logos, etc, who were seemingly never told they needed to cover them.3. Lack of seating. I get it, its not a massive place. The dance floor and bar take up a good portion of the interior. Which limits the number of tables. Not being a regular or Atlanta native, I was unaware tables had to be reserved (potentially days) in advance. (Again, this may be on the website. But if youre just out and about, and no nothing about Johnnys, you may be in for a surprise.)Overall, I would come back, but would likely reserve a table. Otherwise (unless you make friends) you can probably expect to be standing for a majority of the time.
Absolutely worst experience. Bouncers were seen being paid off and always prioritizing the VIPs (valet parking) or those willing to slide extra. Extremely unprofessional. Will never come back. If that is how its going to work make it public. One price for everyone.
Was sitting down at a low table. Had my leg propped up in a low chair as I had recently hurt my knee badly, the waitress grabbed my leg and threw it on the floor! It hurt my knee futher. She could have asked me nicely about it but instead she took it upon herself to further cause me more pain. Just horrible. Havent been back since. Long time ago but worth mentioning. I refuse to ever set foot in there for that reason. Ive stayed true to my decision.
Rude bouncer placed himself between myself and my wife, and I instinctively got between him and my wife. Didn’t know he was a bouncer. He got upset. I got kicked out. He tried to push me out without my wife. That wasn’t happening. Not a place for men that expect bouncers to treat their wives with respect. Wasn’t a big deal, but place should not hire immature punks for bouncers. Be better.
Much has been written and said about this fabled Atlanta Nightspot. Having visited last night, Friday 12/29/3023 I will offer why I think it remains so popular over 4+ decades.Although seemingly always busy, the front staff was welcoming and friendly. I was very fortunate to secure a seat at Malinda’s (sp?) bar. A complete professional. Helpful, friendly. Took time to answer questions when able. Never once had to ask for a refill, paid close attention to all her customers needs. Constantly hustled to keep pace with the huge and growing crowd, always with a bemused smile on her face. Simply outstanding.Of course no bartender does it alone. Demitri the bar back was extraordinary, constantly supporting. New glasses, cocktail ingredients, stocking liquor and beers, I never saw him stop, his team wanted for nothing. He was so proactive, and managed the dance of support perfectly. So yes, a fun, very diverse, dance club and bar that obviously has the management and mechanics of catering to their patrons down cold. Next time I’m in Atlanta, top of my list to return to. Loved every minute of my lengthy visit.
THE WORKERS HARASS GIRLS!! DONT GO PLEASE!!!This place is the worst place to visit. I went with my friends and we were in the girls bathroom using the bathroom and one of the male workers walks in so all the girls told him” noooo don’t come in!!” He got mad pushed the door hard and came in and hit my friend on the head with the door!! Some of the girls stood up and pushed him to get out of the bathroom. Later I was outside around the bar and the guy that walked in thought it was me who got hit and made a “big deal” so he came and pushed me!! Like sir we are different people!!! Then some of my guy friends saw that and try to push him but we stopped them! The security “police” did not help us or the manager!!! The manager made a comment saying my daughter would never be here cause someone said what If your daughter was in that bathroom! You will get harassed by this place!!! The worker looked like white young dude with black hair.
Fun dance place that loads up with young and old on the weekends. Kind of an institution now. Expect long lines and all the hits from the 60’s to the 80’s and the occasional new song. $40 cover to skip the line is somewhat ridiculous.
I regret to recount my recent visit to Johnny Hideaway, which left me utterly dismayed and deeply disturbed by the appalling behavior displayed by the manager. From the moment I stepped foot into the establishment, it was evident that professionalism and basic decency were sorely lacking.Throughout the evening, the manager’s demeanor was nothing short of disdainful and confrontational. When faced with a situation where he didn’t get his way, instead of handling it with maturity and grace, he resorted to aggressive and disrespectful behavior. This culminated in me being unceremoniously kicked out of the bar, without any valid reason or justification.Furthermore, the staff’s ineptitude in providing even basic customer service only exacerbated the already dismal experience. It was abundantly clear that a culture of apathy and disregard for patrons’ well-being permeated the entire establishment, with the manager setting a deplorable example for the staff to follow.Such reprehensible conduct should not be tolerated in any professional setting, let alone a place of hospitality. It is abundantly clear that the manager, is not fit to hold a position of authority and responsibility. I implore the management of Johnnys Hideaway to take swift and decisive action in addressing this issue, including the immediate termination of the manager in question. Only then can the reputation and integrity of the establishment be salvaged, and the trust of patrons be restored. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a pleasant and respectful dining experience.
Ive been going to this place for approximately 2 years, but last Saturday (3/23) I went with a friend and we arrived early to get a seat at the counter. We ordered drinks and stayed at the place for a long time. When we went to order the third drink the waiter (Steven) was very rude and said that he could not serve us any more drinks! I didnt understand why he treated us so badly. We got up and went to the other counter and ordered a drink! It was completely gone and I was very upset! I will definitely look for another place to go as I dont want to be mistreated again
I visited Johnnys Hideaway on Friday 6/28/24. A few of us went to the bar and saw 2 open seats with no physical body sitting in them. We sat down and sat there for about 15 minutes. Before I know it some strange old white man comes and taps me on the shoulder and tells me the chair I’m sitting in is his. I turned around and continued drinking my drink. Then a minute later the bar tender tells me to get up that the old man had been sitting there since 8 pm. Never in my life have I went to a bar sat down in an empty seat and asked to get up cause someone decided to leave the seat they were sitting in. I even complained to the manager and they sided with the old man like this was ok. Any bar I’ve been too if you leave a seat unattended it’s open to whoever wants to sit down. I will never go back to Johnnys again!
We had a blast with 4 of us couples. Been many times over the years. Many, many years. We all had so much fun. Obviously there are so many reviews. Know your lane…..and what you’re wanting to experience with your squad…….if you want chill fun go early and get out at like 11:30 PM. If you want people watching and taking it up a notch go later. The staff is amazing. They will take care of you. I think where people get in over their head is when they don’t really understand what their crews comfort level is. So much fun. Thank you.
This review is specifically for Robbie the bartender. What an outstanding bartender. He’s friendly, personable, and saved my overall experience at this bar, which started pretty negatively. Robbie should run this place. Awesome guy.
I visited for the first time this weekend and I must say I had a great time. The regulars were very friendly. Stephanie and Montie were amazing! When in the area again Ill definitely return!
AVOID AT ALL COST!! I was unaware of the venue’s dress code against wearing “clothes with writings.” I arrived in a jacket, which had no writing, and a shirt underneath that did. I entered without issue, but as it got warmer inside, I took off my jacket, revealing my shirt with writing. A bouncer (appears to be an African American male in his 30s, about 5’11” in height) approached me, informing me that I had to wear my shirt inside out or leave. The music was loud, and I didn’t fully catch what he said, which led to him immediately becoming aggressive and yelling at me. Startled and confused, I took a deep breath and asked him to speak to me in a non-aggressive manner. Before I could finish, he grabbed my arms and shirt and forcefully removed me from the club without my consent. I was completely sober from any substance, as I was the designated driver for my friends that night.
Service was amazing, I believe the bartender was Stefanie, and she was super nice, helpful, and fast with greeting us and getting drinks and food, etc. However, the food is barely edible, and the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Maybe it was an off night but not worth the hype, in my opinion.
A bunch of us went there last weekend to celebrate a friends bday. It was a blast! It was incredible to see people of all ages partying in one place. The only annoying thing is their parking situation.
I had the best time tonight until I had to engage directly with the black bartender. He was awful but I still tipped 20%. I am black as well. My breaking point was when I asked for water. Instead of giving me water, he gave it along with a glass to my non black friend who never requested water. When I finally got his attention he gave me a bottle. I asked “what does it take for me to get a glass as well?” He gave a snarky remark and I told him that me and his black mother deserved comparable, equitable service. He told me that he would have me kicked out. I was equally disgusted embarrassed by this plantation, Uncle Remus mentality. If you don’t like nor respect black women then the company should consider segregating customers to avoid black WOMEN being abused. For the record, my friend who didn’t even request water or the glass, tipped him less across the board. He has internalized disdain and oppression for black women, not women of color, but black WOMEN. My friend felt bad and apologized. I told her she is not responsible for his abuse and slave/overseer mentality. I was beyond embarrassed and disgusted. This behavior reflects a personal and professional issue definitely impacting a company’s bottom line. He gave my friend the water for free. I was willing to pay. Character and integrity are critical. He ruined a 5 star night.
Music was good, crowd seemed cool BUT there were so many people crammed in there you could barely move and were constantly being pushed or shoved by people. There was a 40 minute wait to get in. I can see how it could be a fun place but when I went you could barely move through the room with people being squished together. Thank gawd the crowd wasnt rowdy I couldnt imagine how safe it was with that many people if something would have happened. I wish it was a better experience because it really did seem like a cool laid back fun space.
Love coming here but unfortunately won’t be back after celebrating my birthday here this last weekend. The bar back completely smashed into me and my friend with a large cart full of ice without so much as a “heads up” or “coming through”. I was standing between two bar chairs. If we both got hit, I am sure there were many other patrons getting run over. I have a background in bartending and spent many years working in Atlanta night clubs, so I do understand how difficult it can be to maneuver in a busy atmosphere. However, running over guests isn’t appropriate. Johnny’s is a great atmosphere but not worth the ankle injury I received while trying to spend money.
Forced to wear my t-shirt inside out because of some dumb dress code? Then, was kicked out for putting my shirt back on the correct way in the bathroom. Why do you have dive bar hours and not allow people to wear t shirts? Also, why do you serve drinks in glass to an obviously overserved group of people at 2:30am? Also, why do you not allow drinks on the dance floor? This place is so dumb and nobody should give them business.
Very nice, fun atmosphere! Very packed, but if you’re looking for something to do in a setting where you can be yourself with friendly people this would be a good place.
We went for a special occasion, reconnecting with a friend, my partner and I met her & her husband for dinner and dancing. I Love the atmosphere (I have been a few times in the past), the décor and all of us enjoyed the diverse crowd, all races and ages. The food was pleasant enough. Based on conversations between the four of us, I think I speak for our group when I say we would recommend. The only reason I cant give it four stars is it was way too crowded for the size of the dance floor, and I asked one of the security guys on the way out if its always like that and he said it was a slow night (no clue whether he was exaggerating). We left at about 10 and it was already wall to wall. Other than the overcrowding though, everything was great, and we had a Great time, would definitely go again.
Title: Unjust Ban and Lack of TransparencyI recently had a distressing experience at Jhonnys Hide]away involving the bouncer at the entrance. Despite being told that there were complaints about me, I was not provided with any details or explanations regarding the nature of these complaints. When I tried to address the situation by mentioning that there are always two sides to every story, the bouncer callously dismissed me by stating too bad and proceeded to ban me from returning to the establishment. This incident left me feeling unjustly treated and deeply disappointed by the lack of transparency and fairness in the bouncers actions. As a patron, I believe that I am entitled to know the specifics of any complaints lodged against me and to have the opportunity to address them in a respectful and constructive manner. The bouncers dismissive attitude and hasty decision to ban me without providing adequate justification only served to exacerbate the situation.I urge the management of Jhonnys to reevaluate their policies regarding customer interactions and bans. Transparency, fairness, and open communication are vital components of any customer service experience, and it is imperative that all patrons are treated with dignity and respect.I hope that by sharing my experience, you all can reflect on this incident and take steps to ensure that similar situations are handled more thoughtfully and professionally in the future.
What a horrible place, letting rich people in first, while other people had to wait in line. I’ll never be back. Greedy club. There’s no free water as well, that’s just sad. You’re forced to buy water if you want to survive .They discriminate like crazy. Don’t even waste your time at this trashy place .
WORST ESTABLISHMENT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. It was my friend’s birthday and I had my hand around her to protect from disgusting men. And then a man scratched my face. I told the cops and they did not believe that the man scratched me and so I took them to the man who saw the people who escorted the man who scratched me. They “could not find the employees who escorted the man”. Also when I brought the cops inside I had a bartender push me while talking to a security guard. She walked passed me and I told her she could never put her hands on me ever again and she had the bartenders kick me out although I never put a hand on her. She was so disrespectful and the bartenders cared more about kicking me out for confronting an extremely rude and disrespectful bartender than for being ASSAULTED in their establishment.
What can you say about Johnnys. It is for sure a dive bar. It does have its charm though. The service was great, and the drinks are on the stronger side. Its a great no frills place. Parking is a nightmare though. You will have to pay to park somewhere and walk.
Johnnys hideaway BuckheadLast night my experience was a NIGHTMARE!!! ☠️🏴☠️🤯I witnessed a party of three women at The table beside me, it was time to close and I overheard their tab was $18 total One of the ladies had cash app and the waitress said they didnt accept cash app cards she proceeded to a call security the managers came over and one of the other women try to pay with her Apple tap to pay, and the app didnt work, The third woman didnt have a card it was her birthday and she came out to celebrate. The next thing I know they called the ATL Police required the female to give her ID so that they could block her from coming back there was a guest gentleman in the area he walked over to soothe things down and help the women by paying the $18 I saw one of them say sir if you could give us your number we will send you cash out the money to you but of course as most gentlemen he would not have it and said was no need. Needless to say thats an establishment that I will never recommend to a soul, you treated 3 women so rudely and roughly over $18 there had to be another solution than the one their security managers and waitresses offer those guests, I will tell everyone I know not to visit or spend $1 in a place that is so disrespectful to their guest.Lynn
This is the most embarrassing thing I ever had to hear about an establishment I recommended. My boyfriend ( Veteran) went out with his friends and I recommended they stopped by Jonnys Hideaway since is such a different spot hang out in the city, we even spent his last birthday there. He went there with two of his friends (another veteran) and his best friend. Next thing I know they are getting kicked out because someone acuse them of selling drugs. They don’t even do drugs at all, they are so annoyingly advocating for health at all times that hearing this make me feel so upset. I almost forgot to tell you the real reason, 3 young black men where hanging out around white people and they got profiled of drug dealers. I actually liked this place and I recommended to soo many people and obviously I will not longer go or recommend.I could say so many things that went wrong with the story but I rather keep my composure as well as they did cooperation the whole time this was happening. Breaks my heart to hear the story and the way they are feeling this morning.Shame!
Be careful while ordering drinks…old woman at the bar ( close to restrooms) charged me double the amount for the water bottle. When I asked her why you charging me 6$ for one water bottle. She answered me like that’s what it is for one bottle.
Legendary, old school dance club, where the focus is right on the dance floor 🕺. Johnny”s has been around for decades and thankfully the vintage seventies interior and classic deejay mixes have not changed. The mix of people might be the best facet : young (over 21) and old of all colors dance the night away at Johnnys Hideaway. Wether you’re a local or visiting, a stop a JH is a must. Cheers 🍻
If you’re an Actor or Model in Atlanta don’t come here. A blonde old lady who claimed to be a waitress who was extremely rude attempted to get upset after walking into instead of around me and another human being and told management that she was cursed out when bring asked to walk the pathway is not rude by any means and Johnnys is the last place anyone under 40 should go. It’s strictly for senior citizens.
Steven at the Bar is absolutely fantastic! I have no idea how he keeps up with the craziness but he does fantastic! He deserves all the extra tips! He keeps up with tabs and his customers fantastically! This is the first time we’ve been here and we LOVE the variety of music. We will definitely be back! The bouncers don’t play & it definitely makes you feel safe! Thank you!
Ppl dance here I love it when I go here. Its a time capsule I wish ppl dressed more like the vibe Id love to cosplay when I go here. Its vibey ppl talk and enjoy themselves not a lot of wall flowering. Cool for couples too
Please avoid this place especially as a BLACK WOMAN! Yesterday was my first time at Jonny’s hideaway and it was definitely my last time. Me and my friend sat at the bar and ordered a bunch of drinks. 10 minutes later a white woman came up to me and tells me to get up in a very disrespectful way and pushed me and was in my face! I did not push her back or said anything. The bartender saw everything(a tall black guy, VERY RUDE ; obviously it was about the money. I assume he thought we would not tip him properly) and told us to please get up and just give them their seats. Remind you it’s a first come first serve policy! The two women were gone and left so why do we have to get up? They didn’t give us any explanation on why we should get up and leave. They didn’t leave any jacket/purse or anything to indicate that the seats were taken. We were ordering drinks all night. The bartender called security on us; which was not necessary because we didn’t want to cause any trouble (not worth it) so we got up. He still called security on us, they kicked us out and threatened us to call the cops, without any explanation! The disrespect and mistreatment at Jonny’s left me speechless. According to other reviews, many black people have experienced the same racial profiling at this establishment. The staff and management is very racist, I have never felt so degraded. Never again!
Great atmosphere and music. Happy to see a dress code enforced. Great place for after 9pm dancing and cocktails.
Beyond rude waistress for our group during trivia night. Whatever this young lady was dealing with that day should not have been passed on to us. Customer service goes a long way, not to mention we spent a lot of money in this establishment. We do not plan to return.
Yes. Go here. If youre new to Atlanta or visiting, this is a must. The vibe here is unlike anything youve experienced before and its super fun. This is THE place to go with a group of friends!
This place is a whole vibe. The crowd is pretty diverse and the dance floor is always packed.
Food is decent and good portions. Always a fun vibe, great music, shows sporting events on tvs. Great staff and better drinks! Staple of atlanta!!
I love Johnnys! It can get a little too crowded on Fridays and Saturdays for my taste, but it is a really great time and place.
Good bar, but drinks were wayyyyy too expensive. A good one time experience, but definitely not worth coming back. Don’t come unless you’re ready to spend some mullah
I had a great time dancing! Did not realize you had to reserve a table in advance, otherwise your pretty much standing. The people were friendly and let us sit at their table while they danced. Did not eat or drink anything......the bar was full, the servers friendly but very busy. Definitely would go again though since it was fun to let loose n dance!!!!!!!!
Wow! Id never been. Johnnys Hideaway!!! Reserved table for my Birthday-myself and my Fiancé. Food was great, our waitress was Outstanding, dancing was wonderful, music was great. All in all a Fabulous experience. My only hold back on the five STAR, just too crowded for dancing. Im an 80s girl we like to MOVE 💃🕺 around. We will be back!!
They kicked my friend out after waiting in line for over an hour because his vest didn’t have sleeves, yet the man harassing me and all of my friends right in front of security received no words. I am disgusted and disappointed in this Atlanta landmark BOOOOO
Dont be fooled by their plain looking strip mall location. This is a cozy spot to enjoy cheap drinks, good bar food, music, and dancing! They do allow smoking inside, so be prepared. Parking can be difficult, but there is valet, and ride-share drop off and pick up. Dont get there too early because the party starts late. This is a fun place to hang out or bring out of town guests.
Very fun. $10 cover on a Friday night. Valet is $10. There was a line when we showed up around 10pm. The guests that we ran into had a great attitude. Unfortunately, multiple staff members seemed like they were in a bad mood... Like they didnt want to be there, which I suppose is reasonable on the weekend of New Years. I think servers just dont get paid enough for what they have to do, so I try to tip well.
I never leave reviews but I needed to do it so if you’re a person of color you know what you’re getting into at Johnnys hideaway. Took my friend there yesterday for the first time the night was going well until she decided to seat on an empty chair by the bar few minutes latter two white ladies walked up to us and insisted my friend stood up because the chair belongs to them. I was shocked mainly because I’ve tried making a bar reservations at Johnnys and was told it’s a first come first serve only! This lady kept shouting at us that it’s her chair and we have to stand up she even pushed my friend and was telling the server to make us leave. Mind you there’s no reservation by the bar at least that’s what was we were told when we called to booked ahead . The worst part of this whole situation was the Black Old server that somehow still think we are back in time so he had to SERVE HIS MASTER ( the white lady )I get it he doesn’t have anything else working for him so serving his Master and Mistress at Johnnys makes him feel almost white I wish him the best in his Service towards them and thank him for calling security on us because that’s the only thing he’ll ever be good at. If you’re black and will love to be racially profiled and served by a black guy who thinks he can be white someday or go to a bar that’s full of RACIST people that gives you fake smile pretend to be open minded and welcoming but deep down they hate you because you’re BLACK ? Then Johnnys Hideaway is the place to be !
What a great place for ALL ages. Went on a Friday night after dinner on a guys trip who are closer to 50 than we admit, but didnt feel like we were too old or out of place with age range from early 20s to 50s. The atmosphere is the best part. Very good selection of music. Be ready to dance as that is what this is mostly set up for. I think I can describe it as music played at many weddings. There are tables and a bar that is a little cramped, but really, plan on dancing. Mixed drinks were nothing special but not bad either.
Great atmosphere, pretty rude and bad staff. Definitely an artificial line at the door to pay your way to the front, but I guess it works for them. Just seems deceiving to set it up that way. Then everyone there acts like theyre doing you a favor to allow you to spend money there. Honestly could be so much better of a place thanks to the atmosphere and music if they just trained their personnel on some customer service
The atmosphere is very cool and fun, but they put someone elses bill on my card, I asked for a refund and they didnt do the same. In the end, I paid for something that I didnt ask for.
I visited Johnnys on 12/1/2023.I cant rate the food as I never ate the food. Its best to uber or park across the street if attending. The atmosphere, music, and cultures are eclectic, which is why the age ranges from young to 60+ and a variety of people having a good time.My issue with Johnnys hideaway is their service starting with the door guy who was purposely holding the regular line and saying he didnt care about the line if people didnt want to pay the $40 to cut and get inside faster. $40 per person is over priced for the venue. We just left Blue Martini which was $30 entry and their venue was nicer. $20 would be more appropriate in my opinion. The cost of the regular line is $10 per person. After standing in the regular line for a little over an hour, we got inside and took a table and got a waitress to serve us. The waitress was good. However, there was an annoying security guy that had an issue with us as soon as we sat down.He told one of the girls in our group to not use a flash on her cellphone. No problem. She turned the flash off. Then he kept bothering her about making a video post on IG when another lady was on the dance floor doing the exact same thing. He was mad that we need an extra chair from the table beside us. Meanwhile, 2 random ladies just came and sat at the table after we had already been buying drinks. He didnt say anything to them. They could have taken free seats at the other table. He was mad one of the girls at our table took her heels off and was dancing barefoot on the carpet. He was mad we couldnt keep the chairs flush for more aisle room for passers by. Mind you, these are office chairs which are too big for the tables and the place is full because its about getting as many people in as possible. This guy was just mad in general. After being inside 1 hour, he asked us to leave. In case you missed that, we waited on line as long as we were inside. I am not sure what was going on with the door guy and the security guy by the stage, but they definitely need some courses in customer service and to take their egos down several notches.
Atlantas most iconic dance Nightclub!..Great atmosphere, awesome Staff 👍🏼 come prepared to enjoy good music and a Fabulous crowd ☺️
I freaking love this place I have only been twice but it’s my birthday weekend and we are going again tonight and tomorrow 💃🏻 I wish we had a place like this in Knoxville!! It’s super crowded but I love it
I been going to Johnnie over 15 years, but Last night was one of my worst experience. For some reason they seem like they dont care too much about the black women in there, I always felt it but I experience it yesterday..some of the staff is very disrespectful to black women.. You cant even tell staff whats going on. They get Irritated 🤦🏾♀️. Who do u go to when u have a problem.. I watch them worship white women all the time and Ignore us.. And a tall black bartender guy, hes so disrespectful and arrogant like he owns the place He pick and choose who he wants to serve drinks to and cater to certain color..thats totally illegal and I heard He do that to a lot of people.. THEY NEED TO LOOK INTO THAT. Hes very disrespectful. I miss, butch and Herald and Shawn the real bartenders was there before him. The tall black bartender he makes the business look Bad.. I hear a lot of complaints about him. He needs to be replaced... butch ,Herald and Sean never did that..Plus I love the old crowd...its totally new crowd. Its so different and it change.. the old crowd said they never going back. And if u go please avoid the tall black bartender. He is very sketchy . I read ALL the bottom reviews. They all say the same thing.. This the staff is rude and mean and will ignore you if u need help. Good Customer service and Communication skill will take them long way. You gotta have some type of code of ethic training!..
Great place. Love the music! Only problem is it was really crowded.. like barely able to walk.
Didnt eat anything but DANCED a ton. Very lively place with fun 70s-80s music. A great change from all the raunchy music out now a days. The people dancing were pretty unruly with their jumping, stomping and ZERO rhythm ! LOLMy feet got trampled, I was elbowed a couple of times then had to push folks away from me but otherwise it was good fun. 👍🏽 Will go again -- but with protective shoes on!
Nancy was very rude, she did everything but give good and pleasant service!!! Hammer the manager or whatever he was called the cops on us instead of hearing what really happened. Go early because they get racist after 10pm. Wanted a refund for drinks since we didn’t get to finish them
Very nice place definitely great for tourists. Friendly fun entertainment and environment
If you dont keep an open tab, you lose your table. I love to dance there. mandatory two drink minimum per owner told me this is required. Very, very crowded most nights by 9:30pm/10 pm. Go early and dance with some room. Music is the best of any other place Ive been. Small dance floor! I cant try the food bc of dietary restrictions but it looks good.
1. No free water???? You have to buy bottled water!!! Is that even legal???! 2. No drinks on the dance floor at a BAR?! So you can’t drink in half the bar! 3. They only play music that my grandma likes. Slow songs and Frank Sinatra is all they got.
Great atmosphere, service is really good and if you like great music and dancing then this place is for you.
Came in one night was having a great time until Nancy threw out my food before asking if I was done and then lied about it… manager Hammer then took her side… pretty RACIST experience sadly. I use to enjoy it here but probably would never go back.
Great retro lounge vibe with an eclectic jukebox (or DJ, though there wasnt one there when I went around happy hour) that plays everything from Frank Sinatra to modern dance hits. As we were there, it started filling up, and more & more people were on the dance floor, some looking like professionals! Ages ranged from 21-75, maybe older? Very cool vibe! Food wasnt bad, either.
Very interesting place. The drinks were extremely reasonable (except you have to pay for water). The burgers were good. The bathrooms were clean. There was a bunch of older clientele until around midnight, then the younger, fun and single crowd came out. I honestly had a blast and didnt spend too much. Cover was only $5, people were nice and I really enjoyed myself.
Tucked away in strip mall of all places, this throwback 70s dive bar slash dance hall was a total surprise! The decor is outdated but in a perfectly acceptable way. With a long bar stretching the length of the room on the left, dance floor on the right and seating in front and back, theres plenty of room to belly up, dance, or spectate. Affordable drinks, awesome DJ, and a good crowd made a believer out of me. I came on a Wednesday night and the place was busting at the seams...will be back!
It was a bit crowded on Friday night, but the atmosphere was great.
4 decades of music — HIT PLAY. Phenomenal atmosphere. Laid back. I recommend parking across the street at the home goods. Laid back dress code.Eat the fries ... get the tenders... dance it off! Before you know it you’re dancing with an investor banker in their 60s and then a college student. Wide mix of crowd. Really fun and safe place... and I don’t dance lol this place got me dancing.I even picked up a dance instructor here to teach me to dance lol
Really good music, nice place. Go early! After 11pm it is standing room only & you are elbow to elbow with everyone. It has to be way over the capacity supposedly allowed by fire martial by midnight. Valet parking is only 5.00
The name says it all! 🤣 great fun! Diverse crowd, People dancing 💃, classic music 🎶 affordable valet parking, great food and a dirty bathroom. Pretty laid back environment no videos allowed and no drinking on the dance floor. *This is a Top 5 bar* in Buckhead if you ask me.
Best place for great drinks, fun and food. The waitresses are amazing and so kind. Its definitely better than Whiskey Mistress who discriminate against light colored people. I will always return to Johnnys. Love this place even on a Tuesday. ❤️
It is 4:24 am on October 15, 2023 and I just got home from the WORST experience at this establishment. This was my first time here and I can guarantee it’ll be my very last.I was verbally assaulted by a white woman at the bar, stayed poised and smiled at her whilst she was flailing arms and cursing in my face. When the bouncer/security guard came over, guess who he kicked out of the establishment? He yelled in my face repeatedly meanwhile the white lady was yelling at me on the side of him. He didn’t even regard her once. When I asked why she wasn’t being removed, he said he was removing the both of us. I waited an additional 10 minutes outside for my Uber and she was never forced to make her way outside nor was she belittled and yelled at as I was. She was the threat but yet, the black girl was kicked out.I am requesting to speak to management IMMEDIATELY pertaining this experience and I will not stop writing and calling in about it until something is resolved. This is disgusting behavior and no one should ever be treated the way I was tonight.
Staff is great! Montie is awesome! Friendly, attentive & a great smile! Best Bartender!
Cool spot to hang out. The early part of the night is a mature crowd and from 12 on younger people take over
Terrible experience last night. Stopped in with wedding rehearsal friends and family. We came from Tampa to attend my BFFs son’s wedding. Music sounded great and we were excited to be there. Front door staff and wait staff was nasty and rude all because we asked about a different table! Ruined the celebratory night for us! Needless to say after being yelled at by the staff we left. What a shame it looked like a fun place!
Crowded!!...with limited (if any) seating available, but a fun time none the less! Waiting in line, to be allowed inside, was a bit long -20 mins- and crazy, but is to be expected on a weekend in Atlanta. Decent $5 cover fee and great music...if you can find room to dance. Good Bar foods and great drinks too.
Horrible place, had to wait in line while the people who paid 40 dollars to get in cut us all in line. This place is trash don’t come here.
Interesting place. Definitely full of energy. Everyone was having a great time.
I honestly dont think that any rating will hurt this place, but I wish the waitresses were much better. The young lady was carrying a tray and spilled the ranch dressing...it fell and went all over my leg and shoes. She didnt say sorry...nothing at all. I had to go up to them to find out why nothing was done. I had to get my own napkin and I cleaned up myself and the floor. It hurts that customer service and appreciation can be so poor. Please please please bring back great customer service!! (And the bartender threw away my drink when I still had liquor left in the glass...but how can you argue with poor customer service.) THANK GOD for great patrons...the gentleman next to me bought me another drink after he saw what happened. This was the first time that I have been here and have been treated like this...and I usually love this place.
They wouldn’t let me in because I had a shirt that said God is Good. Told me this after I waited in line for an hour
Strong drinks! Great atmosphere! Cute dance floor and fun decor all around. The music was great, not too loud, and fun to dance to.
Drinks are so cheap and there was a some scene from the Hall Pass movie. Also dancefloor is great 2000s or 90s songs are playing in there. But fridays and saturdays are a little expensive you should gonna pay money to express pass like 40 bucks. Except for this everytime amazing. If youre visit Atlanta you must be see that place.
If you make a reservation, you have to keep an open tab and (evidently) keep drinking or they kick you out of your reserved table. Be warned; No one respects your bar seat if you get up to dance! It can be fun but very crowded on weekend. The music is taylored to the younger crowd NOT the oldies like they say. :( They NEED to PLAY more classic ROCK of 70s, some 80s... Guys may ask you to dance. On the weekend there is a lot of pushing and shoving.
THIS PLACE TAKES DOWN REVIEWS if you’re wondering why they’re “so good.” The manager/bouncer whoever here is an absolute HORRIBLE person. Disgusting. Disrespectful and has MAJOR anger issues. Should NOT own a businesses and is discriminatory. He will scream and lose his mind over a hat (?) and make a cop (?) escort people out literally over a hat? Which isn’t listed on the dress code online. And then won’t have a normal conversation or be respectful at all if you ask to clarify what they’re talking about because they’re screaming and shining a light in your face suddenly oven a hat. Super aggressive and it’s completely unsafe for women to be around, openly threatened to hurt my friend when she asked a question about the dress code. If you’re a woman DO NOT come here. Be ready to be cussed out and GRABBED by an old man if you wear the wrong hat/shirt/??? DO NOT COME HERE! Disgusting and weird and really unsafe. Maybe don’t be a horrible place if you don’t want me to keep leaving this review.
Man! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE. Best to reserve a table. Staff makes sure no one sits at your table if everyone at the party is up dancing. Nothing but Oldies! The DJ dont smile though. Lol!
I had a great Friday night! I loved the crowd! I had Casamigo margaritas all night! They were sooooooooo good. Our waitress was very nice, I wish I remembered her name!!! This is definitely for the grown and sexy, this place is for those who love to party, have fun, and enjoy great tunes. Great diverse crowd, no drama, no judgement zone and some fine fellas and pretty ladies in there. The customer service is superb, they have Rockstar employees: valet, the guys at the front door, the host, the bartenders and waitress, these folks impressed me on my first night but Ill definitely be back🤞🏾!
Good bar food. Nice servers. Place was so packed you could barely move. I also dont like the forced $5 fee to park my car, but it is Atlanta. The dj played some of the music until the very end! It became annoying, but it was a nice experience. 👌
Always a great time and an experience like no other. The music is hopping. The dance floor on the weekends gets packed after 9pm. Security is on top of their game. Drinks are made very well! Best bar tending and waitresses in Atlanta. My out of town guests come to Atlanta for a great time and this is where we ALWAYS land. Arrive before 9 to avoid a line. No drinks on the dance floor and don’t touch the disco ball. Johnnys is where it’s at for ALL ages!! An absolute BLAST!!!
Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience. After arriving and each paying the $10 entry fee, we found the venue already largely occupied at just past 9:00 pm. We sought a table and were told by the security personnel responsible for seating that there were three groups ahead of us - that seemed reasonable. However, when I followed up after 20 minutes, I was told they were holding out for two reservations. This puzzled me because I saw at least five unoccupied tables with decoy drinks on them. Furthermore, I was aware that Johnnys Hideaway doesnt accept reservations past 8 pm. It felt like a misleading scheme intended to extract more money. Not an experience I appreciated.Never again!
What can I say except for Johnnys has always been crazy. I have been going there for 45 years. On Saturday night we waited in line for an hour to get in. Drinks were good and service was good. I want to give a shout out to the guys in valet. They go above and beyond to help people out. With issues that don’t even involve parking. Thanks.
Great spot for nighttime entertainment. Our waitress was so sweet even with how busy it was. Great customer service! I was visiting from out of state and had dropped my wallet, the manager went out of his way to mail it back to me. Would return just for the service!!
This place is old school cool! Fantastic vibe and swing dancing. The service is excellent and the cocktails spot on. The Rat Pack would have loved this place. A guy at the bar nailed it… When your here, you feel like you’re in Reno at a locals club. Here’s to you, Johnny!
Strong drinks, great atmosphere and all of the best dance music. If you want to dance, it might be the best place in town. Its a local legend for more than one reason. Warning: No drinks on the dance floor.
Always a fun time at Johnnys. The atmosphere is fantastic. The food is excellent. The staff is the best! The DJ plays the his from the 70s to current, which passes the crowd. The dance floor vibe is intoxicating and you are pulled to the dance floor.
Classic Atlanta institution. I grew up in the area and my parents went here when I was a kid. It has always been the club for 40+.. When my sister-in-law suggested after dinner that we all go to JH (including my parents) my first thought was that place is for old folks. But then I checked myself because, well, now I am old! We had a great time drinking and dancing to a mix of classic hits. We arrived around 8pm on a Saturday night. We all had our IDs checked - our group ranging from mid-40s to 80+ - bless their hearts! There was no line to get in when we arrived but it was crowded and there was nowhere to really sit at that point. The amazing super-pro bartender poured strong drinks nearly instantly and was incredibly able to remember each patrons name to charge to our tab. Impressive! We were some of the first folks on the dance floor and for the rest of the night it was slammed. When we left at around 10pm there was a long line to get in. My parents always said this was the pick up spot for older singles and I think that is still accurate. We dont live in the area anymore but visit friends and family often and will definitely be back. My parents - with whom we were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary - reported it hadnt changed a bit so it was super fun to have a generational experience with them. It has probably been open more than 40 years. Long live Johnnys Hideaway!
Unfortunately, it seems that the tall white over weight dark haired bartender lady displayed extreme racist behavior last night. I witnessed her first hand berating a black woman for absolutely no reason. It was horrible, my finance and I left because we do not tolerate racism even if it’s not directed towards us.The disrespect and mistreatment at that establishment was absolutely appalling. I had no idea racism still existed at that extreme until what I saw last night. Never again for us!
Though the place smells of old party because its the carpet, We have a damn good time everytime we come to party.
I went on 4/4/2023. Good experience for the most part. Smaller than I expected, but a good vibe. Music is on point. I normally go on Tuesday and it can get crowded. Food is good. Friendly staff. Definitely worth returning.
The ambient is good even the music, but the staff aren’t good, I was at the bar waiting my drink, when one of the waitresses tried to push me with her shoulder because I was on your way to trash can, as she could push me, one of the security saw and immediately invited me to leave, like if I had pushed the waitress! The barman even asked me sorry for her attitude, but the security didn’t care to ask or tried to understand, and when I left he make signs to the officer check me out!
First of all, let’s start with the dress code. This place is not fancy enough to have a dress code, and I got kicked out because I was wearing “sweatpants.” I don’t go out looking like any kind of way, but that’s okay. I will not be back and this is a really nice dance club!
We made a reservation about 2 weeks before our scheduled Birthday party. 3 days before the event we received several calls saying our party was to large. I had to call several friends to let them know. The day of I received another call saying we would have to be put on a waiting list when we arrived. This is a terrible, unprofessional practice. Simple say what the max is on your site and stick to it. When we were seated with our reduced party we were squeezed into 2 high top tables with no room to eat. Also, we did not have enough seats. When I mentioned it to the staff the gentlemen seating said this aint my first rodeo. I will get to it when I can. Unbelievable! The only reason I did not give a 1star is because our server was excellent.
They dont serve tap water and instead serve their own branded bottle water for 2.50 a pop... How can you justify this morally when you have people drinking liquor at your place? There is a boil water advisory in place for Sandy springs right now so its unclear if them not serving tap water is related to this, but at that point, comp the bottled waters or youre encouraging people to drink irresponsibly. And/Or youre looking to profit off people who are trying to drink responsibly or those that dont drink at all. Also got our bill wrong twice and didnt split a check for a table of six, so our entire party of six had to figure out what everybody ordered and Venmo one person who paid the entire bill. Also the dress code isnt enforced. Saw a dude in a red wings jersey, gym shorts and flip flops. K. would have been good to know before we went home to change into clothes that fit their dress code.Edit: Also, didnt give us a drink menu so we had no idea the prices of the drinks we ordered. So my friend had two high noon seltzers and was shocked to find out they were 9.50 each. The food itself was like a tiny step above school cafeteria level honestly. Overall not worth it and wont be going back.
I had a blast at Johnny’s last night. The service was great and the music was excellent, as always. I love the variety of tunes. This has quickly become one of my favorite places to visit. I’ll be returning soon.
I didn’t try the food. I wasn’t addressed when I came to the bar area I asked to be seated was told all the tables were reserved @ 6:44 pm lead me not to order food after one drink. Smells old…music is the music I listened to as a kid loved that . I didn’t get a good vibe. I was told by a young man in the parking lot. Wrong hour/ day. Come after 8:00 and on Wednesdays
First time here! It was amazing!!!!! The food was great, the music great, and the people were great. Staff was all nice and security was on top of their jobs. Fun and safe environment. Will be my new spot definitely.
Absolutely Amazing! So Much fun!!Great music, drinks, bartenders, servers & DJ.Its popular & gets really crowded after 11pm.I will be back!!
Great place for dancing, music was pretty basic and retro but brought good vibes. Crowd here is a lot more mature than expected but it was fun dancing with older men n women, i will be back with more friends.
Very nice bar. Arrived early around 6. Had the the taco salad which was tasty. The beef was great! Jiji served drinks and was a wonderful conversationalist. Can’t wait to stop by again!
Bouncer working on DEC 20, 2023 were some of the most racist uneducated human beings I’ve ever come across. Extremely rude and aggressive towards me and my fiancé on her birthday! People like them should not be in charge of security anywhere!
It smelled disgusting when I went in...like sweat and vomit .., but man was it fun to dance all night. The music was fun, a variety of pop hits from different years. The drinks were eh...the tequila shot was large, but I didnt specify which kind of tequila, my mistake! Know what you want and order that.
They told me my driver’s license was fake, and still had doubts after showing my passport. I love this place but I spent the first 30 minutes here arguing with the manager about my age because the “machine said it was fake.” It was such a ridiculous argument. If you’re a twenty something year old, make sure to have pictures of your passport and birth certificate.
Goof place if you want to drink, dance and be in crowded location. To busy, piacked for me. Definitely a one time visit to see and people watch.
I have spent ALOT of money at Johnnys on bar tabs as well as on tipping ALL of the staff exceedingly well. Ive only ever had problems with one individual there, a door man named Cameron. Without going into great detail everytime Ive ever had any issues there it has been with him. He has a nasty habit of putting hands on people (myself one of them) as well as yelling in peoples faces (myself included) when they have done absolutely nothing wrong. He has no people skills and should not be working anywhere in the front around customers. I genuinely believe he is a misogynist and he has a massive superiority complex. Im a small middle aged woman who does not need to be manhandled nor yelled at for attempting to have a conversation . I will NEVER send another person there nor will I set foot in there myself. My husband owns a security company and I myself have been in the industry for over 25 years so I understand the hassle of dealing with inebriated individuals however there is a right way and a wrong way with which to handle and address each issue and Cameron is sorely lacking those skills. A sad state of affairs and completely unacceptable.
My husband and I went to Johnnys Hideaway for my birthday and had a good time. The music was good and the drinks were great. Friendly bartenders. The dance floor was crowded but was still fun. There was a line to get in at midnight when we, the old folks, were leaving. 😄
Terrible experience. Went with a group of lively seniors. Everyone ordered meals and drinks. Many stayed on dance floor enjoying music and many danced. No one was rowdy all well behaved. Nevertheless our group was asked to leave...for no good reason.Johnnys discriminates ..DO NOT PATRONIZEREPEAT...DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS DISCRIMINATOR.
Love it during the week.. the weekends are too busy for me! Robby is the man! Go see him for a drink! Wings are great! Decent bar food if you need to sober up. Awesome old school dance music. I love the dancing there!! Dance your a** off! Great fun crowd. I wish they would not let so many people in though. They def way over pack that place. Fri/sat nights you can not move.
This is a nice spot with a very diverse crowd of people. It was my first time at this place, and I had a great time. I will definitely be coming back again.
Its a great place to dance and cut loose. I just felt so free there and will be definitely going back. Parking is very tight so try to get there early.
Ive been here a few times over the years of living in Atlanta. Its pretty consistent old school music and a mixed crowd. They serve food and drinks pretty late which is nice because if you drank too much, you can still get a meal before leaving. There is always a line and entry is $10 unless you pay $40 to skip the line. The biggest con is there arent enough servers to accommodate the crowd.
Went to Johnny’s Hideaway on 05/16/23 for the first time with friends. We sat at one of the tables near the dance floor. The bartender was AMAZING- she advocated for us when the incident happened, but the busser/server made a terrible error and ruined our night. My friend had spilled Prosecco on the table, and we wanted to do our due diligence and clean up the table. We didn’t want to cause an issue and recognized it was a bit of a hassle to clean after a spill. She went to the bartender to get some napkins, and I asked a busser near us (a lady with longer brown hair) for her rag to try to clean it up some. She gave me the dirtiest look and gave me the rag and said “we need to clean this up in a particular way.” At the time, I didn’t understand what she meant because we had spilled alcohol; I thought maybe she meant Clorox so she could prep for the next group to sit down. Next thing we know, we’re being kicked out of the bar for “throwing up on the table”. It wasn’t the bouncer’s fault for enforcing something he was told since it can be a hard time reasoning with drunk people, but we had done no such thing. I tried explaining the situation to him (because I was very confused, since no one had thrown up at all that night, let alone on the table), but we were told to leave anyway. Eventually, the bartender stood up for us and we were allowed to stay, since what the busser alleged wasn’t true. No one ever asked us what happened, what spilled, etc. The busser assumed what happened and tried to get us kicked out. We left anyway, as the experience left a bad taste in our mouths. As a first experience, I have never been treated this way at a bar. Seriously considering whether I ever return, despite the great bartender and the atmosphere.
OMG! We had an absolute ball! This was my first time going and at first I was thinking... ugh! its packed, too many people, etc... but not even. My friends and I danced and partied like we were the only people there and others joined in. Its was seriously like one big party! I will definitely be returning when I go back.
Be ready for a surprise! My friend and I had a blast here on a Thursday night after someone recommended for me to visit while I stay in Atlanta for more than a few days. The dance floor was super active and fun. Good place for those looking for more mature fun.
This was my final time here Im 63 years old n they played music before my time I understand trying to play something for everyone but I was Done...when they played Elvis Pressly Something must go on I dont know about because the line when I left was longgg.....much Younger people than myself Im wondering what goes on here besides the Oldies
If youre looking to have fun in Atlanta, and want to go back in time with music and ambiance, go here.Cougars on the prowl is just a little plus, if youre into that.
Very Busy Place on a Saturday night. Party oriented. Come ready to dance the night away. Wide range of music to cater to all listeners...
This place is not worth going to. The bouncers at the door artificially hold up the line to get bribes. $40 each to skip the line, otherwise 1.5 hour wait in the cold.We went because we heard it was great for dancing and had a good selection of music and we did not find this to be true. The songs were very low energy, and the dance floor was packed with clearly messy drunk couples sloppily making out and stumbling around.I will say the bathrooms were very clean, and they have a lot of bar space so it’s easier to get to the counter and get drinks than it is in many places. All in all, not a winner. Not likely to recommend to anyone and I was dissatisfied with my experience.
Ignore the TikTok’s, this place sucks. The worst experience I’ve had in an Atlanta bar thus far. The bartender/manager is beyond rude and unprofessional. The security/cops manhandle WOMEN. 0/10.
Beware of this place! We went to this nasty and super dated place this past Friday (12-18-2020). We had a table with some friends and were spending a very good amount of money on our table. As soon as we stopped ordering more drinks and as we were still sitting at out table and talking, this fat funny looking bouncer with longer hair (Best way I can describe him without a name) came to us and said some people complained about us and we all need to leave!! I was totally shocked and had no idea what he was talking about and when I asked him to explain or talk more he refused and called other bouncers to help him escort us out. To this point I still have no idea why this guy behave so unacceptably. Also, next day I noticed they put a second charge on my card which I have no idea what it was and had to dispute that. This is another way they steal from people. They probably think people may not check their account for being overcharged.Anyway, we all will never go back to that Dumpster anymore as there are way classier, cleaner and more professional places that will respect you and willing to serve you professionally and legally. Strongly do not recommend this trashy place.
Great place. Divey as hell but amazing. If you want classy, this ain’t your place. If you wanna dance to hit classics and get a quick trip back into time. This is your jam. Dress up, get crazy and have a blast.
Great intimate and pretty cool atmosphere! Great mix of old school goodies to sing and dance to. The food is pretty good portions but the wings were a bit fresh. It was over an hr wait in line to get it but worth it. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Went here with a bunch of friends on a Saturday night ready to dance! We started out with dinner which was fine just your typical bar food. Drinks for the most part were pretty strong which we appreciated. Our service all around was great so for them I’d give 5 stars:) The DJ however was miserable and killed our vibe. We politely asked for more upbeat dance songs that were more current and boy he did not like that request at all! One song request was whomp there it is and he said we don’t play that $hit! Told me no ghetto rap or something like that. How flipping rude! I’d say for the most part the music was 70’s-90’s era stuff. Mostly the older genre unfortunately. If that’s your thing you’ll love it here just not enough uptempo songs for our 40ish crowd.
You can’t drink on the dance floor. Ok. They need a better way to communicate that. Maybe a few signs. The black bouncer working Friday night is rude, aggressive and apparently I looked like another guy there. He said he told me once you can’t drink on the dance floor. I calmly tried to tell him that he never told me anything and he might have me confused with someone else. That is when he started pushing me (only a good idea when there’s 11 other bouncers around) and lady I came with then kicked me out. That guy was very unprofessional. Seemed like the type that got picked on as a kid and now needs counseling. He might not need a job in this type of environment.
Hands down my favorite place to go for dancing and cheap drinks. Love the music selection as they play every decade. Love to go with big groups or girls night out.
This place doesnt start jumping until after 9pm. I would recommend you come in around 8pm, have a bite to eat, and spend the rest of your evening dancing the night away. Finding a table after 9:30pm could be a little difficult depending on the night you come. This is our favorite place to go dancing. Always fun, 100%
You have to valet your car here and when I got my car back, the folks at the valet messed up my settings and turned everything off which my car hates. Now I’m have to spend time to figure out how fix what they changed. Never seen these error codes before. My car was 100% fine before coming here. First and last time coming here.
I had an absolute ball here! We got there before 9 on a Saturday to avoid the $10 cover and it got packed pretty quick. Its definitely an oldies but goodies crowd until midnight then the younger crowd pours in. I loved the music, I was dancing all night but the dancefloor was too small for me. People were nice, bathrooms were clean, drinks were inexpensive, and the food smelled good. We didnt pay to park and there is a dress code. I definitely will be returning.
I love this place! Definitely a place for an older crowd but younger people come in after midnight. They have pretty good music. After a few of their big shots that are reasonably priced, you will want to get on the dance floor weather you can dance or not! One of my favorite places to come and have a good time
Crazy place! Packed. Very fun!
Always a great experience, line at the door always an issue but for 3 times the admission you skip the line.
If you get there before 9pm on the weekend, there is no wait. After 9pm,you find yourself waiting in a line to get in. You must request a table, service was good. Food and drinks came out quick and our server was friendly. The dance floor was pretty crowded and the environment was relaxing.
Super crowded but great service. Monty was awesome.
Went here late one night and I loved the 70s theme, drinks, and overall atmosphere. The bar has been around for a while and has a lot of “character” from the locals. Our server was amazing, she brought out our food hot and fresh and was always checking in on us. I would definitely come back.
I didnt take pics inside but this place was a melting pot for everyone. You found young middle aged and the more seasoned players stepping out. You see well established, barely making it college students, multicultural..just everyone. The DJ is everything, he meets the needs of everyone except heavy metal I believe. I didnt hear any but that doesnt mean he doesnt play it. Go out grab a table and have a great time.
So me and my homegirls came there we ordered about 70 worth of drinks in liquor I was gonna tip my waiter I understand I use to be a server but I went to the restroom I wanted to pay her in cash we had not left yet we were gonna get more drinks but then the manager came up to the very few black ppl in the club and was immediately ready to get hostile I was trying to explain I went to the rr and I was gonna pay the server in cash I went to the rr they tried to kick us out they were rude very disrespectful and distasteful watched us after everthing and then when I tried to explain Im a person Im grown if there was a issue yall could have came to us better they tried to call the cops on us very horrible I would not come here ever again do not go there if u are not white theyre rude and rascits stay far away not worth ur money or time signed by 6 black women;
The best!! I went 2 years ago for a birthday party and have been hooked since. Guaranteed, you will have a great time if you like to dance and meet new people.
They call this the “cougar bar” and as true to its name it’s certainly for a mature crowd! However, they know how to party! The music is unbeatable, better than the trash they play at most clubs now where nobody really even gets on the dance floor anyway. I love coming here to let loose. Very friendly staff, accepting atmosphere regardless of age or sex. It’s a great experience for anyone of drinking ages.
Fun bar with a diverse crowd. Get there early or you WILL be waiting in line outside the door. $10 cover or $30 to skip the line. Drinks are priced well and made even better. A dance floor spawns the center of the facility that bobs to a diverse mix of music (oldies, country, hip-hop, pop, etc.)Recommend for a group of friends.
I enjoyed the old school vibes! I cannot dance but somehow I was on the dance floor moving to the music. I had so much fun less the cigarettes. I’m not a drinker so no reviews on drinks but my friend thought the drinks were good and reasonably priced! The food was acceptable. Will go back again.
Wanna dance? Heres your place! Wanna drink? Heres your place! Overall good time? You get the point. Thursdays are fun, Fridays and Saturdays are even better. Every club in Atlanta plays Top 40 and Rap bangers... —nothing wrong with that, its just not everyones cup of tea. Classics like Frank Sinatra to 90s dance hits are the tunes of choice, very similar to your last high school reunion but every night, so keep that in mind. This is where you go to or where you end up at, just like Waffle House. Dont expect to meet your next spouse here, but its certainly a possibility because mostly everyone is a blast to party with. Tip the bartenders and servers accordingly, and theyll take care of you. When Adonis is there at valet, youre in great hands; take care of him, hell take care of you, just like every staff member at Johnnys. Dont touch the disco ball, keep your drinks off the dance floor, and dont stop dancing until your feet have developed stress fractures.
This is a very interesting place. All kinds of age range from 21-70s. Place gets crowded. It is a very small venue. The cover is $10 regardless the time or male or female. Line is insanely long. My friend stood in line for 50min. You can jump the line if you pay $30. I personally did not like it because its just not my music style. All the music is old and not having been born or raised in the US, I dont know most of the songs. Old men will grab you to dance no problem. A lot of fun, some people love it..hence the huge line all night... Im just not a fan. Ive been to better places.
Melinda was the best. She was swamped but on it the whole time. She never missed a beat. I’m a sever and ex bartender and she was awesome in my opinion. I loved the vibe here. We are 30. It was equal parts chill and lit. Super fun. Would recommend while you’re in ATLANTA.
Awesome Anniversary celebration with hubby! Great venue, great music. Crowded later but everyone is so nice and accommodating, if you run into each other you just get introduced with a handshake or a hug. They could double their space and still be crowded because its such a great place to go! We plan on making it a regular hang out. Used to go 30 years ago when we were in our twenties! So happy we found it again!
I didnt order any food. Line outside was long and dance floor too small and crowded. They also could have used an extra bartender. But it had a good atmoshpere and music!
Went in on a Friday the bar was jam packed. However the atmosphere was good and service was on point. The only issue, there wasnt a menu neither for drinks nor food. Which was understandable considering how full the bar was.
Great place to party and meet people. The crowd is as versatile as the music. Lol, I can see why this place is called a cougar bar. To my surprise the women were very forward. The drive is ate reasonable and the dance floor stays packed. Youll meet everyone from every class of life in here. Its way cool. The only thing theyre strict about is men wearing a shirt without political wording and a collar.I love it
Awesome spot. Disco ball is really great. The bouncers are strict but fair. Safe fun environment.
After a few trips here over the last 3 decades nothing has changed, and shouldnt. Its a classic, always trending, legendary and the food aint too bad either. The waitress we had (too loud to hear her name) was on her game as they all seemed to be. I cant wait for another couple decades to go by so I can hobble myself in on my walker and have a good time.
Johnnys Hideaway was cool. The drinks are very inexpensive. Staff is cool too. However, be ready for some oldies but goodies (music and crowd). If you dont want to feel like the old guy in the club you can go here and be one of the youngest. Overall, I had a good time.
Its Johnnys, where folks go to go get laid, and live in nostalgia. Its a cool place to go out with friends, go dancing, and enjoy yourselves. You have to have collars to come in on Friday and Saturday nights and there is almost always a cover on the weekends. So that makes it annoying. The lines are also crazy after 8 p.m. Be careful if you go around that time especially if its cold. One of the coolest things there is the dance floor because you see multiple ages intermingling and having fun. Their drinks are also pretty reasonably priced and strong for what they are. The only crappy part is you will smell like smoke when you leave and the bar is almost impossible to order at when its crowded. Finally the other annoying thing there is the bouncers. No drinks on the dance floor and they are very serious and very committed to that. Other than that, its a great time to come out and have some fun, kind of rug and people-watch.
This just turn out to be an amazing place. The music was awesome the drinks and ther service was great. My first but definitely not my last.
Saturday night Great music! Too crowded. Couldnt even get on the dance floor. Too many drunks and men that think its ok to touch you without asking. Cannot believe people are allowed to smoke in there!! Not sure, besides the music what everyone likes about it. Staff is friendly. I have been on a Sunday night, little more room and enjoyed the band.
I do not remember when I have had more fun, or stayed out until 2am! I appreciated the 70s-80s music and knew we made a good choice of a dance venue when Michael Jackson was blaring over the speakers when we arrived. I have been wanting to go to Johnnys Hideaway ever since a friend recommended it as a fun place to dance for individuals in my age group. As others have said, there is something here for everyone and people-watching was so much fun! I loved that Uber/Lyft rides are easily accessible and encouraged. I will be back! The service and food gets an A+!
