Great place with a ton of history. we went here out for my birthday and it was nothing but great. The Boogie Freaks were playing and that’s one of my wife’s favorite bands and they were exceptional this evening. Had some wings and they were top-notch. The bartenders were fantastic and very friendly and conversational. If you are in the area and you have never been here you should give it a try. We definitely will be back.. This is a great place.

First time eating there. Im going to not mention all the small things because the highlight of this place is it is considered to be a crawl or low key gem.Ordered combos. My meal came out incorrectly(had onions but no peppers). They remade it (had onions and peppers)Only request was no onions or mayo. Came out incorrectly again.This is a 15$$ sandwich by the way. Not to be picky.Water from air conditioning unit dropped into food while eating.Staff did not offer any discounts or refunds besides offering to remake the food a 3rd time.The sweet tea tasted like ice tea.Just overall a terrible first experience and im not sure how they felt comfortable charging us fill price.

Went here for a Christmas party. Gave all the guest something to do! Pool tables and served lunch. Consisted of pulled smoked turkey, chicken wings, chicken tenders, fried shrimp and fries with salad. Food was very good! Staff was super friendly. Ample sitting areas in front and back of area with easy parking.

Wife and I came to see the Tuesday open mic comedy night. We ordered some beers and the wings. The wings were solid.Divey atmosphere, but eclectic vibe with all different kinds of people. Always down to visit local spots

I had a great time there! It was spacious enough, ample room for dancing and playing pool. The bartender was great! I went there to see Homegrown Losers cause I love their vibe! Caught the last half of Jawberrys set and I was impressed by them too! I trust Voo Swar to make solid live music choices.

After months of following VooSwar on IG, I finally made it in for lunch and it was every bit as good as I had hoped! I can’t wait to come back for Comedy Night and some of the upcoming bands! I enjoyed an ice cold Guinness in the bottle and a big-as-my-plate pork chop sandwich! My friend raved about her chicken wings and waffle and said it was decadent. Friendly staff, owner and chef w friendly community feels. I’ll def be back!

I think they really might have the best wings in town. Seriously I have a thing for wings. I went all over the place trying wings. Specifically the bbq tang sauce. I have to get back over there for the wings. Yum yum!!! I should also stick around for a good live band for once!

What an Awesome place to eat some delicious Chicken Wings and More!!! The owner was there, very hospitable and eager to accommodate to Navy Sailors from down the road at the Naval Base! Although these pictures look good...The Food is Way Better!!!Plus, You can also enjoy an Adult Beverage, Soft Drink or a cup of Southern Sweet Tea!!!

Good food, good service, but why does the entire neighborhood have to listen to hours and hours of LOUD thumping music until 2am. That is a concrete block building, cant even imagine how loud it is on the inside. Some of us have to get up for work at 6am. Just sayin....

Listen I came here in November of 2021 and I still can’t stop talking about the wings I had here. They were the best wings I’ve had in my entire life. The people were so nice. I can’t wait to move back to Florida to come get some

Went for Disco night and had some Cajun ranch wings that were some of the best I’ve ever had. Would come back just for the wings.

Just hot and needs to rearrange furniture for b ands. Move pool tables to side of stage. Tables in front of bar. My opinion.

We looked for restaurants near me… we found this spot. Wow. What a great place! Home cooked everything! Burger was fresh. Chicken wings fresh! Chicken tenders delicious. Fresh good tomatoes. Read this history of this restaurant too. It’s a cool place. Oh yeah… you can play ping pong there too!

Ive never had a better Pork Chop sandwich! So Good!!The crew at VooSwar is friendly and welcoming! Just follow their IG and see all the events they continue to add! Very impressive!Go check it out!

Im in town working for the week and had a craving for wings. I found this place and went to order some lemon pepper wings. They were seasoned to perfection and extremely fresh!!! They were average sized wings as well. Not those humongous ones. The staff was incredibly nice as well. I think they even had a comedy show going on. GREAT PLACE!! I’m going back for dinner tonight. Lol

Fantastic place! The bartenders are always happy to see you as well as the owner. Oldest bar in Jax! Such a cool music venue too! Ive seen some amazing musicians there! And the drinks are at a very reasonable price point. The food? O.m.g. best friend shrimp basket ever! Go! You wont regret it!

I was hesitant at first,, but truly surprised. Nice atmosphere, pleasant diverse crowd, excellent food, ESP the pork chop sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mayo. The barkeepers were extremely nice. Would come here again if in the area. Very colorful band.Place is also wheelchair accessible.

A fine piece of Mayport History that is carried on by Chef and Owner Mr. Louis, thank you for sharing your rich past of what Pops “Mr. E,” Earnest Davis and Voo Swar did for our Black, African American community and US Navy Service Members providing a sanctuary that still holds true today where you welcome All when at a time for your. Best chicken gizzards I have ever had along with the broccoli!

1st Time and will definitely come again. 100% recommend. Best fresh tasty wings in Jacksonville. Louis, welcome us with a big smile and even took time to show us the Restaurant and his Dad Mural stunning. 60 yrs of great service and flavor. Our favorite is Mr. Earl Seasoning. 👌👍😋

This was hands down the best fish and shrimp combo I’ve ever had. I went in on a whim after seeing someone post about it and it looks like a regular bar when you walk in but wow was this good! The fish was perfectly cooked and the ranch was tart! If I lived here I would eat here way too much. Definitely saving to come back to when I visit.

Read about the significance of Voo Swar and the community before you experience this special place! Great wings! But my favorite is the breaded, deep-fried pork chop sandwich! No frills. Great laid back locals. The owner, Louis, is a joyous soul. Bands, open-mike comedy night, pool tables, a great jukebox...its a neighborhood dive in the most wonderful way! I love that everybody is welcome!

Very different kind of place. Would describe it as a dive but a good spot friendly bartenders and people. Large bars areas dance floor pool table ping pong fooseball. Fried shrimp basket with fries 👍

What a fabulous establishment! Tucked out of the way off Mayport Road, it is quaint, yet awesome. Best fried shrimp around and lots of local talent performing onstage.The proprietor is over the top gracious in telling the story of how and why his dad built the restaurant/bar.Go there and you will be back!

Great bar. Friendly staff. Cold beer and I had an excellent fried shrimp basket. Live music was just starting up as I left. Clear to see why this is a Mayport institution. Will be back. Highly recommend.

First time going to this little hideaway in Atlantic Beach. I know its been there for years but just havent been. I had a fried pork chop sandwich and it was delicious. Mango ice tea was good too!! Ill be back to sample some more menus options.

The food was great and plentiful. One of my best burgers ever. I will be back.

Very nice cozy atmosphere. The wings, shrimp, and fries was very good and seasoned well. Angelina was our server and she did a phenomenal job. I highly recommend her because she was very attentive to our group of five and enjoyed doing her job.

Its such a lovely atmosphere. Ive been a customer off and on for so many years. I remember when I first moved to Florida from up north well over 30yrs now this was one of the 1st restaurant & Lounge spot I went to and I always felt like it was my family who owned this spot. Because they always made me feel safe, a made sure me and anyone that was with me was appreciated.

My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. We are international travelers with a taste for the rare comfortable spots in Jacksonville where you dont have to worry about a thing. This was the perfect place. Its back tucked away but the food looked delicious and we felt like we had been going there for years when we arrived, they were so friendly and made a killer lemon drop martini. The music was great too. On the outside the place looks like it should be in the Caribbean which is not a bad thing at all and inside as cool and spacious with any music you desire to request playing on a great system. The owner was so kind as well. I highly recommend this spot to anyone just looking to get off the beaten path a little and be somewhere where they can just be themselves and relax. Love love love this place! Vibe is amazing and food is even better. I had the shrimp and fries and my boyfriend had the flounder and fries. BOTH DELICIOUS! Mel the bartender was amazing and kept checking on us. She was sweet heart.

Not a bad place to hang out...staff was disorganized so we went somewhere else for lunch. They were having a large event that day, and it seemed to be a little overwhelming to them.

Its such a vibe. The most beautiful part of the place is its historic and BLACK OWNED!!!!! There needs to be more POC visiting this establishment. The story behind this place is BLACK HISTORY at its finest.

Finally found this awesome restaurant! Mr. Lewis makes the best chicken wings ever! So many sauce selections. Going to get the deviled crab next and fried shrimp. This place has so much wonderful history. 🤗🦐👍❤

Black owned!!! very small crowds never packed. Food is great. Ive only tried the gizzards, wings, and salad. If your going for the food youll be happy. But dont go expecting lots of people.

I went Tuesday night for open mic comedy, it was a lot of fun! It’s a dive bar, nothing fancy, for anyone to hang out at. I didn’t eat since I’m not into fried food but I did enjoy a drink from the bar.

Not sure if covid killed this place or what....the menue isnt what is portrayed online...not even close. The service was great. Guy was friendly and prompt. I tried the porkchop sammich which had good reviews. It was ok.

This place has so much potential, cant wait to see, all it has in store. They have a dance floor that would be perfect for line dancing. Lets hope they make Tues nights a country line dancing night, now this is what I would call lit. We need a go to country bar in Jax so praying this place will make it happen. And the bartenders are super hot😍

Lewis can definitely burn...learned some history while i was there too. The owner is a retired veteran and his establishment has been black owned for 50 yrs. Good food, laid back music...and the waitresses are nice.

Cute lil juke joint. Had to go to bar to order and get food. No table service. Food was outstanding. I got one of everything on the late night menu. Everything was really amazing.

The outside of the place kind of threw me off. However, the inside was pretty cool. They do severely under poor their shots and they are very overpriced but the atmosphere was okay.

Great restaurant and bar. My friends and I went there on Christmas a couple years back and sang karaoke. I surprisingly still remember that night and am really glad we went to this place.

Its really has A out of date run down interior but the DJs here and the people are generally cool. The kitchen is very in appealing and dirty but Ive heard the food is tasty(I wouldnt eat it) its a great spot to party though has a full bar with bar tenders and a dance floor

Pretty cool Mayport music venue. Fun for local beach lovers to relax and have a few, versus all the main beach locations hubbub.

Fun, safe place to mingle could use a little bit more diversity in the live entertainment other than that great place to hang out

Very good food, very warm welcome from the owner and his dad :) we liked the place a lot and would recommend it however there is one thing why I give it only 4 stars, thats that it is allowed to smoke at least in the club area and door to this area is not closed.

Truly the worse sound man I ever heard for a live band, this poor band was suffering dramatically, I found out this is the new house sound. dayyyuuuuummmmm that is not good, guys save your money let the bands bring their own sound
