I recently hosted a high school reunion at Bar Anticipation and everyone who attended had a great time. It was the perfect setting to reconnect with old friends and had plenty of space to mingle --there were two other reunions taking place and my group didnt even know. Joanne was a pleasure to work with and made coordinating with the venue a breeze. I visited a few other venues but booked my event at Bar A since there was no deposit or minimum headcount required. The bar staff were friendly and attentive and someone from the venue even helped me put together a large banner display. I highly recommend this venue for any special gathering and I appreciate Bar A (and Joanne) for making my reunion an afternoon to remember.
Denied entry because my friend had a probationary license, even though it was still valid, on her 21st birthday. They kept saying it was bar policy but I thoroughly read their posted ID policy on their webpage and this rule is not listed anywhere. It’s also not a requirement under state or U.S. law and unheard of at any other bar or club. This was ridiculous after we drove an hour to celebrate her birthday here and the staff was incredibly rude about it. When I tried to ask for clarification because the policy is not listed online, they refused to even respond and just made me leave.
It makes a lot of sense why everyone hates this place. Don’t even bother. They will turn you away if you’re any type of minority with a real, legal ID issued by the United States Government. Don’t waste your time. There are way better places nearby anyway. Don’t spend your 21st birthday here if you have a probationary either, they population control and turn you away. The locals know all about it.
I had an extremely disappointing experience at Bar Anticipation. The bouncers were incredibly rude and seemed to be on a power trip, displaying significant attitude problems. On top of that, the managerial staff was shockingly unprofessional and did nothing to address the poor behavior. I wont be returning and cant recommend this place to anyone looking for a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
DONT COME HERE. ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE TRUE. I ignored the bad reviews thinking no way the staff can be this horrendous. My bf and I were inside in the bar, had drinks and food. We stopped by the bar outside for a drink before we leave. The middle aged bartender rudely asked for ID from me first. I gave him my valid PA drivers license and he asked for a secondary form of ID. I was under the impression that hes kidding because never at any bar in NJ, PA or any other state has a drivers license not been a valid form of ID. I asked what the issue with my ID was, he said he needs to get approval from his manager while on his high horse talking down to me ( we literally just had drinks inside the same bar?) He refused to give me my ID back. Stated he was going to get the cops involved (again for what?) My boyfriend gave him his ID and asked what the issue was? He did not want to give us our things back and had a threatening, xenophobic demeanor. This bar seems to cater to a certain crowd of older locals. There are plenty of other great spots near by, dont ruin your trip by stopping by here. Whatever their responses to these reviews (my own included) may be, you can not make this sh up. Honestly dont walk on the same street at this place.
Simply because I had ordered a duplicate license after losing my original one, I was denied entry even tho I’m 21. They didn’t even say it was a fake only that they don’t except probationary licenses. I’ve been let in to every other jersey shore bar and club not to mention everywhere in Atlantic City as well. Pretty unheard of to be denied for that reason. After reading the other reviews as well it seems like this place likes to cherry pick whoever they feel they don’t want inside. Definitely recommend going anywhere else besides here.
The blonde bar tender tried to lie and say she didn’t have our card because we didn’t tip her for pouring 3 shots. We had to chase down another bartender to have our card returned back to us. When we finally got our card the bartender looked my boyfriend in the eyes and with the nastiest attitude says you should tip next time! The people that work here are genuinely rude and I would recommend going literally anywhere else.
Went last night, and despite literally being 21 for over 4 months, my friend was denied entry since his license was Probationary. Not expired, merely probationary. He has been to dozens of places on the Jersey Shore with no issue, but the bouncer must of had some bone to pick. His license being probationary doesnt make him any less 21, and its not against the law to accept a probationary license as literally every other place does. They treated him like he was using a Fake ID or something when he is of age with a proven legal government document. What do they gain from this? (Other than the pathetic power trip of course)Edit: Just read the ID Policy on the website like they said in one of the replies to a review, and it says they can take a secondary form of ID, but when we offered to show one the bouncer straight up said that they dont allow that.
Bar A is legendary! Always a great time! Im surprised to see so many poor reviews. If you want to have a good time, you will. If you are there to complain and find fault in every little thing, then I recommend you stay home and let the adults have a good time! Staff is fantastic, in my opinion.
Tried to come here a couple weeks after turning 21… had my probationary ID which is NOT expired, as well as my passport, and a credit card with my name on it. Was denied entry because my license is probationary, even though their policy online does not mention this being a problem at all IF I have a second form of ID, which I did. I heard horror stories about getting into this place and that’s why I brought my passport and a credit card along with me, but it was still no use. They said I should have gotten my license updated when I turned 18… I explained that I actually didn’t even get my license until I was 19 and the bouncer rudely said “doesn’t matter. should of gotten it updated two years ago then”. When I offered my valid passport (a second form of ID that is not expired) they didn’t even look at it and said “if you got your passport as a minor. we can’t accept it”. Maybe i’m missing something but this makes absolutely no sense to me at all. No other place has had any issues with my ID. You have to give an arm and a leg just to get into this place and it’s really disappointing.
My night at Bar Anticipation was ruined by the incredibly rude and power-hungry bouncers. They demanded my friend provide a second form of ID, which is unheard of at a bar. When my friend showed his debit card to verify his name, the bouncer inexplicably threw the card on the floor. The managerial staff was equally unprofessional and did nothing to address the situation. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and I wont be returning. Avoid this place if you want a respectful and enjoyable night out.
You need multiple forms of ID to get in. I was not allowed in with a passport. A Federally issued photo ID that is used for international travel and is accepted by governments around the world was not enough for Bar A. Better off going to a bar that at least pretends to care about the people giving them business.
I am 22 and a VIP pass member. Tonight I had a bartender say “5$ plus tip” to me which has never happened before. After she saw i was upset by her comment she raised the price to 6$, then 7$. When i only gave her 6$ she told everyone behind the bar I was never allowed to come to her bar again. I have worked in the customer service industry for 6 year and would never speak to someone like that. I was left extremely upset and regret my decision to buy an expensive pass after the service i received…. for opening a can.
This is for the SECURITY checking IDS last night (6/12/24)To start, me and two of my friends found this place on a Google search as a last minute bar for a drink or two to end the night. As we walked up to the security, us 3 collectively had our 3 VALID UNEXPIRED PASSPORTS, GOVERNMENT ISSUE PASSPORT ready to be inspected. We were asked for ID, and we immediately complied, no issue there. The security then asked for a second form of ID, which we were already confused with as to why, BUT STILL, proceeded to COMPLY. I pulled my state ID out and informed him that it is expired, but as per your websites info, it’s needed for (photo purposes). My second friends state ID was expired as well, the third friend had an unexpired state ID (they were driving) This man proceeded to interrogate us as to why we haven’t gotten our IDS renewed yet??? I explained to him that I just haven’t gotten around to it and why does it matter if we’re not driving? Please make no mistake, it was a friendly interaction from the start, UNTIL we were questioned, interrogated, and he was not accepting any sort of answer from us. He very quickly became passive aggressive, rude, and belittling. We were also not intoxicated by any means upon entry. During all of this, a second group next to us had expired state ID and was GRANTED ENTRY. I then asked for his name and was refused that as well. (Shocker) I have absolutely never in my life encountered such a disgusting, belittling, and simply rude human. Please educate your staff on NJ STATE LAWS as clearly there’s a lack of intelligence there. Very obvious this man was on a power trip to feel a little bigger about himself. I hope you got a little rush of power last night because you so desperately needed it, and may I suggest some therapy for your insecurities and vile behavior? It must be exhausting being so miserable. I can’t wait to take to social media with this. Get help.
Love the setup, multiple bars, staff was pleasant and great service, cool beach theme, went for live radio show, worth the VIP extra charge. Will go back again...
DQ and Tony are hands down THE BEST bartenders on the planet! Go see them and ask for one of their signature shots (Pool water) or drinks. Grab a bite to eat as well. Ask DQ to order you one of his creations from the menu (chicken skewers). You will not be disappointed!
To the blonde bartender with the “too pretty to work” attitude:Tips are completed after the service is done. When I hand you exact change for beat the clock beers, it’s so you don’t have to worry about the 25¢ change. You decided to run your mouth at me about how you are paid on tips, What you didn’t know is: I had $2 with your name on it in my pocket, which would have been given to you after my beers were given to me. But instead your attitude and your mouth lost you your tip. I am a fair person & not cheap, tips are given to service that is done right and well. All you had to do is grab 4 beers from the tray that the bar-back actually poured for you. $2 for grabbing beers, sounds pretty generous to me. But maybe next time you will think twice before you get rancorous with one of your customers.
I think it says everything that they stamp your hand with the word “FAIL” to really let you know how this establishment feels about you. From the moment you walk in the door and encounter the disrespectful security and then the nasty bartenders who, by the way, none of them charge the same price for the same rounds, you just feel like they wish you weren’t in the place. Go anywhere else for the love of God. Band was good so there’s that.
Listen to the 1-Star ReviewsI went to the bar today with my girlfriend, and we were denied entry because my ID was in a vertical format. Despite being 23 and having a valid REAL ID STAR, they wouldnt let me in. This is outrageous—they didn’t even bother to scan it.
It is my opinion that the staff at this bar is racist towards who they let in the bar. On multiple occasions when going out to this bar specifically, my white friends and I can get into this bar no problem, but whenever my POC friends try to get in, they absolutely refuse. On one occasion my friend was not let in because he was wearing “jogger shorts”, and it does not state on the bars website dress code that these type of shorts are not allowed. After going back tonight, wearing “the correct” shorts, he was again refused entry when they asked his for a second form of ID, and when he gave them his debit card with the same name on it, the staff threw it in on the ground. After reviewing the bars website, it is true that it was not valid secondary ID, but the staffs actions were, again in my opinion, unnecessary to say the least. When he asked to see a manager, the staff again refused and physically assaulted him to the point where an police officer had to interject. Terrible staff, experience, and atmosphere, never going back.
I’ve been to beat the clock Tuesday three times now, I have never had a problem showing my ID and getting in… up until last night. Where I took an hour and a half train ride to get down and hang out with some old buddies from highscool we get there it’s pouring, i show them my STATE ISSUED ID and then they needed another form of ID with a picture (asking for two forms of picture ID) and I couldn’t even get anything on my phone because they wouldn’t accept that. all this in the midst of a severe thunderstorm i explained that i was an hour and a half away from home and I had even graduated with one of the security guards that was standing next to the head honcho and that i’ve been to beat the clock a few times prior to that point. he did not care at all and in all honesty was rude right off the bat. I don’t even blame him though i’d be mad if i was working on my period too!
Cool place; a few different atmospheres lol and a shots wheel which has got me intrigued! Will definitely go again!
Tuesday night 5/28/24, Tall blonde bartender at the small bar in the club was very rude. Me and my friend walked up to get some beers and as we were pulling out our money to pay, she said rudely, You know you have to tip right, You guys cant just give exact change.I understand her frustration as i work in the restaurant business and I know bar A is really busy and some college kids dont even tip but it was my first time going up to her and we just asked politely for beers. Thats not how you treat a normal customer. After that I still gave her a $2 tip for my beers that costed $3 and I couldnt even get a thank you.
If youre a POC, dont come here. You will be belittled, and yelled at. I waited in line with my friend and witnessed security take all forms of ID. When they got to us, the security shined his flashlight on my ID and accepted it after staring at it for the longest time. Then, he told my friend they wont accept her ID because its a probationary license, even though her birthday was clearly stated. Because of this, she showed another form of ID, and they said they still couldnt accept either one. The ID check didnt seem that strict with anyone else, considering the people who were not POC in front of us had their ID hardly glanced at without a flashlight. Therefore, I asked why they wouldnt accept it, when one of the security members(who were sitting back and clearly not doing their job) screamed BECAUSE WERE NOT, to which, I questioned him again since because were not is not a valid reason to deny anyone. Then, one of the two cops next to security put his hand on his gun, and the other cop stepped forward to try to intimidate me. I simply asked a question, I didnt even raise my voice like the lazy security member did. My friend and I felt threatened, and we decided to leave when the cops took a couple more steps forward, as if they were going to put their hands on us. The security and cops here are on an ultimate power trip, there is no need for this kind of disrespectful behavior especially because we didnt come off as rude in any way. Seeing that this is how they treat two women, I cant imagine the treatment they must inflict on men who are POC.
Be sure to bring your passport, birth certificate, social security card, proof of address, green card or naturalization certificate (if applicable), and tax records for the last 5 years. Otherwise the paul blarts will press you with their chubby wubby paws.Asked to provide second form of id, and while I wait by the empty entrance where there was no other person trying to get in so I can look through my wallet, a paul blart tells me to get out of the entrance in the most non-aggressive, polite way I could imagine without the use of any unwarranted profanity at all. It was actually really crazy, the paul blart just read my mind or something. I was totally just waiting by the entrance so I can go sprint past the security and cause mischief and become the biggest threat imaginable to this poverty bar in the 5 seconds I would get before I got sat on. Terrible establishment. I was told my passport card was not a form of valid ID and that it was a “copy” of my passport book. This is the second time I’ve almost been denied entry due to not having a drivers license. The first time I brought my state ID and they pulled me out of line to question why I couldn’t drive. This time when I brought my passport card they told me I needed a state ID to get in. I hope they train the security guards on all forms of valid ID and what passport cards are. Officially have more trouble getting into this bar than getting through TSA it’s insane
THIS PLACE IS NOT VETERAN FRIENDLY! I got kicked out defending my friend who was denied entry after showing 2 forms of id one of them being an active military id. The staff placed at the door are unprofessional and ignorant, believe all of the 1 star reviews!
Food always good and the smoking Jackets last night had the dance floor ripping. The MC got everyone going. What a fun time and the band played all great dancing songs.
Saw pat roddy at the summer stage and it was a great show! We didn’t eat food there, just had drinks.
Great place to go with friends and have an awesome time. It’s a place my daughter frequents very often throughout the year with friends. They have great music and dancing.
Avoid this place at all costs!! The bouncers are good at accepting fake IDs and rejecting real ones if theyre probationary or GOVERNMENT ISSUED PASSPORTS that say your birthday. The bouncer I had the displeasure of meeting was a misogynistic bigot who gets off on yelling aggressively at women who are genuinely confused as to why their valid IDs are being rejected. Absolutely disgusted.
About 16 to 20 of us went to there to attend a charity event for veterans. I was a little surprised that bar a did not advertise this on their website. I think a lot more people would have attended if they had. It was a beautiful day and the bands were all great and the cause was a good one. We had appetizers and Cocktails and donated to the cause.
Terrible experience I knew it would be.. tried this terrible place again.. wow bartender right in front of the stage was unbelievably rude I handed her the wrong credit card by accident and it was declined so I gave her my other credit card which looked exactly like it and she refused to run it I could not believe it I was blown away I didnt even do nothing I just wanted to buy a drink again so I went to management and they were unbelievably rude again I will never go back to this place again and I am from the Jersey shore lived here my entire life and been to this place twice and now I will never I repeat never go back to this place again
Wow. Extremely impressed. Overly satisfied. Wish I came here sooner. This awesome jersey shore bar has everything and anything you could want and expect in addition to a good night out with the family. I went here with a group of people for two of our family members bdays and they were extremely accommodating and polite. We went on Wednesday night when they have line dancing and it was really a great time. I brought my 4 year old and he was happy with their kids menu . We stayed from 6:30-930 pm and all the food I had was just great. I had shrimp cocktail, Manhattan clam chowder, and the home made kettle chips which were sick!!! My husband had the coconut shrimp which were huge fresh shrimp. We stayed out side most of the time and hung out a little inside for the music and dancing. Cant say one bad thing about them!
My girlfriend was 21 and was denied entrance because her license wasn’t horizontal due to the fact it wasn’t renewed yet. Drove an hour for nothing ! Tell your bouncers to drop their power hungry high ego it might go places.

40 year old bouncers who never did anything with their lives hold all the power. The one with a baseball cap hiding his receding hairline takes pleasure in denying duplicate ids but has no problem letting in girls that flirt with him!
I went here the other night when it was very busy. I was walking by in a crowded area, when this bouncer shoved me over. I asked him why and he responded, “you stiff-armed me, so I shoved you back.” I, a 22-year-old female, have never stiff-armed anyone in my entire life, nor do I have the strength to “stiff-arm” someone twice my size. I politely responded, “no I didn’t,” to which he responded, “I work here.” I simply do not care who you think you are, but shoving a girl half your size is very uncalled for. The bouncers at this establishment need to learn their place and have a little bit of an ego check.
Had some mozzarella sticks which werent that great but their meals may be fine! Nice place, fun atmosphere
My wife and I went here to partake in their Jersey Shore Restaurant Week lunch. We had never been here before but heard stories about the young crowd and drunks so felt it wasnt our type of place. The place is huge with both indoor and outdoor bar areas. We sat in one of the dining areas which was pretty full for lunch. There were about 12 tables with one waitress, Victoria. She did a great job of handling all the tables. We were both surprised by the quality of the food, presentation and size of the dishes. My wife had steak which she requested medium. It arrived medium rare, but she was fine with the that I had a chicken sandwich which was slightly overcooked, but,had a good taste. The french fries were very good. We both agreed we would visit again.
Ladies and gentleman, I am happy and honored to give this excellent establishment a five star review. RARELY, do you ever encounter a venue that has something for every adult. Bar A as they say locally on the Jersey Shore has great food, great service, great live music, great alcohol and you can even literally play beach volleyball in back on a slower day. Rarely, do you see a customer walk out unhappy. Bar A is legendary on the Jersey Shore and its reputation is well earned. It’s a must see if you are in the neighborhood and into the bar/club scene. Management and staff are extremely professional and lastly the prices are even fair.
I’ve got no complaints with this bar, went for a beer tasting event they had and it was awesome. It was the first time there and it was midday. What a set up though, indoor bars, outdoor bars, a small waterfall, volleyball courts in the sand, really cool bar to. Would recommend going at least once because it’s so unique.
Bar A has been around as long as I can remember and its been a local institution.Im personally a huge fan of the outdoor patio bar areas.Inside, live bands play and it gets busy on the weekends.Wings are very good, mussels are great. Food is pretty good.Service is great, atmosphere is great.The crowd is usually a little on the older side, but at peak times its more varied.Overall, this is still a fun spot to grab a beer and some food.

The service was far, far better than we expected for this type of place. An employee made a special point of helping us find a quiet, open table to get dinner despite the main floor being packed for a live band. Server was super attentive. And multiple employees wished us a good night as we left. A really great experience.
Been to Bar A many times over the past few years, mostly during warmer weather and to get out to see some live music and yes even dance if its danceable (my music taste is generally rock,, alt rock/new wave grunge and punk). Went there with a bunch of friends on a recent Sunday afternoon and reserved/paid for in advance a VIP table in front of the stage to see a Van Halen cover band with numerous very talented musicians taking the stage over the course if 3 hours!! A great show and applaud Bar A for putting this on..walked away feeling very satisfied and entertained....the food...that where the disappointment came in...and hence only 4 stars..table service was great for drinks...and after all these years never ate there...saw on the menu a piled high or mile high hot pastrami sandwich and being hungry thought that for the price of $12 that I would get a big beefy piled high (as listed) sandwich... but got a sandwich with what appeared to be 3 or 4 thin slices of pastrami and it looked like a pannini sandwhich...I was very disappointed since Ive had hot pockets with more meat...I complained and seeing a brisket sandwich that someone else had, ordered that instead..but that arrived also on the small side with about 7 french fries ...again disappointed with the food or what I ordered. Will not eat there again but will continue to patronize for spirits, great ambiance, entertainment and great staff.
We were so happy to hear that The Snakes were performing earlier than usual at Bar A ! We felt lucky to get a hi top in the bar area at 6 just before the Snakes began to play. Our server, John, was very attentive and pleasant ! He had to manage many tables and did it with grace and kindness ( we observed) ! Good luck John as you maneuver this time in your life 🍀

Went for 911 memerial event. Love their patriotic support.Years later back for a fund raiser as a private party. They had servers making dogs and burgers for us along with a good fixings bar. Full service bar. Good cabanas to get out of the sun. One of the servers even went out of his way to get my wife and I a couple of regular ice teas that were not part of our service, he would not accept payment or a tip even. They did their best to make us all feel special while we were there for a good thing.
Why wouldn’t y’all let my friend with in with his passport. Your security team was disgusting, showing racism and straight up discriminating . Not a good look at all. Smh

I am shocked about the POC comments simply because I am of Indian descent and have never had an issue here. I have been coming here for 20 years.
It’s the fact that i can literally leave and get back into the united states with a passport but can’t get into Bar A. like that makes perfect sense.
Can we get some sinks working in the Ladies Room???We had a great time. I was impressed by the space. Its relaxing and wasnt overly crowded during the afternoon and early evening. But I have ZERO idea why a bar that must pull in that much money has a ladies room with three sinks and only ONE works? Additionally, I hear this is par for the course. I dont get it!! We just got out of a pandemic...and no one thinks washing hands is important to customers. Like I dont want to use your gross bathrooms and NOT wash my hands.Surely this lovely establishment has enough money to keep the plumbing working. I saw many families there with young kids...easy and abundant access to Soap and clean, fresh water for handwashing should be a foregone conclusion. We are in America. Clean bathrooms with good facilities are the least you can provide your patrons.Gross and cheap.
Been awhile since my last visit. Somethings stay the same but not the prices. Maybe Im out of touch but $3.75 for draft beer, and that was HH price. Food was good and service was good also. Not fond of having 2 tabs, one for beer another for food. Whatever. Usually frequent another establishment but they dont open until 4. I was early this visit so I tried another spot. Will probably go back as I said food was good but will drink H2O.
Bar A is amazing, the food is always great and the staff is incredible. Johnny B the manager will bend over backwards for you. He will even put tennis on the TV for you. My wife and I love this place and the incredible people that take care of you here.Adam
I was at Bar A to attend a musical fundraiser and had a great time! The size of the place is impressive; the area around the stage was my favorite place to sit. The food was surprisingly very good! The pretzel was huge and made well. I especially liked the spicy mustard they served with it. We also ordered some chipotle wings that were nice and meaty. The flavor was great and they were cooked perfectly. I had a burger that was excellent and it came with fries that flat out ruled! I will be back!
On my first visit to this establishment, I presented my identification, only to be informed by the bouncer that there existed an alleged record of my ejection from a completely unfamiliar venue. This claim resulted in the unfortunate denial of my entry. Given my infrequent participation in nightlife and the absence of any prior ejection incidents, my state of perplexity was considerable. Regrettably, even after the bouncer recognized his error, access continued to elude me due to my choice of attire—a sleeveless shirt and shorts. Intriguingly, a plethora of other guests flaunting shorts and attire of a more revealing nature were admitted without hindrance. For those who place high value on equitable treatment, I must dissuade any attempts to patronize this establishment. While I acknowledge the bouncers likely encounters with challenging individuals, the maintenance of consistent rules is of paramount importance. In this venue, however, a capricious approach to enforcement appears to be the prevailing practice. Do better.
Do not come here if you don’t want to be physically touched and belittled by the bouncers. Used to be a fun place to come until you’re waiting in a two hour line that they purposely slow down so you pay a ridiculous price for a cover. Threw my friend out while we were walking out of bathroom and when I intervened the grown men put their hands on me as well. No explanation besides the fact that they are “private property and can do as they please” was provided when the bouncers AND the manager named “cookie” were asked. All were clueless looking at me like I had five heads and was told they had no cameras. No excuse is valid enough for their disgusting behavior.
A few years we had corporate function here. Wonderful. Great, friendly, fast staff. Nice beverages...good food. This has super beach vibe environment. I have lived now in Florida a while, and been to other east coast beach bars... Bar A has a special place in my jersey heart.
It’s a great outdoor and indoor bar that has DJ and live bands and many bars. It also has a sandy patch where you can rent a seating area very good for a birthday party. Overall a great place to have fun and unwind.
I would give this place 0 stars if possible.I live about an hour away and was not even given the chance to show VALID FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION because the bouncer saw my probationary license. Make it make sense? I turned 21 last Friday and have not had/ should not have a problem getting into public bars. Probationary licenses only affect driving rules and regulations, it has nothing to do with one’s age. The bouncer then proceeded to try to embarrass me in front of the people I went with and not even attempt to look at my three other valid forms of ID. After this happened I went online and noticed this problem has happened to multiple other people and should be fixed.Overall horrible experience would not recommend to anyone.
Good vibe and atmosphere, but the security team ruined it for me. My friend tripped over a security guards shoe and the security came after him with no intention of being rational. Everything escalated and my friend who is a 4’8 woman was handled by security like she was a 6 foot 300 pound man. The security handled it so poorly I will absolutely never be back. I would love to see the video footage, that man should be ashamed of himself as a person.
This place is a joke. For cheap beer its not worth it. Long lines because they bouncers are too busy inspecting other IDs. They didnt accept my Arizona ID. Last time I checked, Arizona was a US State. I am closer to 30 than 21, I am clearly not trying to sneak in. My friends advised me to bring my passport which they denied because the bouncer saw my Russian visa. If I was a spy from Moscow (which I am not), my first instinct would be not to go to this bar in Belmar. It seems the bouncers have list of people that they like and let in.I had no problems with bars and clubs and stores across the country and even flew with my AZ license, but this overrated, sleazy bar seems to know more about IDs than the TSA.I dont get the logic of this place denying perfectly normal, of age people and losing their business because they have a different ID and a valid US passport that was used to travel abroad.
Absolutely appalling experience at this place. Spent over $2,000 for VIP service and was told friends were allowed to our section at no extra charge. Unfortunately with a completely embarrassing lack of communication between bottle girl / front door security, & VIP security, I was completely lied to and had my entire group kicked out after purchasing 4 more bottles that we did not get to drink. Absolutely disgusted with such service. Almost as if the security team is anti-revenue and simply acting on a fantasy sense of authority. All $2,000+ will be disputed through my credit agency for such a lack of performance and being lied to by staff. Unfortunately, whoever owns this bar is obviously looking to bring in revenue (rightfully), but actively has staff that are counteracting the companies best interest. What a sad sight to see. What could have been a $7,000-8,000 tab and significant tip for the server will wind up with $0.00 paid and a ripple effect of less high paying VIP individuals giving their loyalty to this excuse for a “club”. I hope whoever is in charge can reprimand their security and notice the loss of money they have by hiring the first 40+ year olds with a goatee that they could find off the side of whatever street they found these unqualified nerds and make some changes and turn that superiority complex into a good and profitable experience. Event in a private room; surprise birthday party for my niece. The staff is wonderful; hostesses, bartender, wait staff were all friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. The family has enjoyed a number of events over the last couple of years, and theyve all gone very well. The only real issue I have is the parking.
Bar A should literally be shut down. They offer .50 cent beers to lore in young people in and get them drunk. The bouncers/security hereare rude egomanics who thrive on being able to kick out kids the bar - that they got drunk by serving too much alcohol! Security and Management are in cohoots with the Belmar police to arrest and get money off these same kids. Remember, Bar A got them drunk in the first place! Im sure there will be many lawsuits agains Bar A and the Belmar police, which I truly hop they loose. Would be nice if this establishment would loose their liquor license and be shut down for good. Too much history of getting kids drunk, and then having police stand by to arrest them. Shameful!UPDATE: Wow- your response shows that I hit a never. And yes, Bar A is responsible for overserving people and how they treat customers. This is why you have been sued a number of times. Calling me a karen and telling me grow up proves my point about you taking no responsibily and deflecting. Any bar owner should be fully aware of how their marketing can drive bad behavior - look at the cigarette companies. Good luck with your law suits. Also, you should re-think you security team and relationship with local law enforecement - sketchy at best.
Ill never forget the last time i went here about ten or so years ago when i was about 23-24. i was refused entry cause i moved and had a change of address sticker on my license, which according to the wonderful genius bouncer meant it wasnt a real id. my friends sister who was 18 went in right behind me with no problem at all with a very obvious fake id. ha this place is such a terribly awful joke. idk how theyre still even open.
Great vibes solid food great atmosphere. Once it becomes nicer out all the spaces open it becomes an even better experience! The crowd has a mix of both younger and older crews but is geared more toward the older crews. The bartender I believe was Tony was amazing!!!! He definitely added alot to the experience as well.
I have been coming here for 20+ years and it never disappoints. I have seen amazing bands, attended yearly work outings which were so much fun, to seeing my nephew rock out on guitar in his music school bands. The drinks and food are always good and the service is always friendly and efficient.
The bouncers to get into this bar are incredibly rude. Ruins the atmosphere immediately. Told me I’d never get into the bar again, despite showing two forms of identification. I guess it just depends how they are feeling that day. Did not know entry was subjective. Please fix your bouncers.

Was forced to go out to this bar with a friend was told it would be fun upon arrival I waited in line with hundreds of sweaty bennies from New York and hundreds of girls wearing the same pair of blue jeans …. Only after an hour did I finally get to the front of the line to be told I couldn’t get in because my Drivers licenses was a duplicate license I lost my original license so I ordered a new one I was told I’d need a passport to get in. At 24 years old I didn’t think it would be an issue to get into a bar. This place is simply just a joke will never go here again people really make a big deal about 50 cent beer it’s probably Cheap beer
They should be truly embarrassed with their business. After coming here for years waiting on their line for hours, watching POC suspiciously being denied for whatever reason they can think of, l finally got to witness it right in front of my face. They make their rules super unclear so they can decide who to enforce them on. I made my bf come here with me yesterday and bring his federal ID( passport) and state ID( driver’s license), both NOT EXPIRED, since I’m aware they usually request two forms of ID. They denied his license for being a probationary even though I’m not sure what driving past 11pm has to do with being the legal age of 21 to consume alcohol. Then they proceeded to deny his American passport because he got it 4 months before he turned 18. On their website it says they only do that when people don’t look the same, since they might’ve looked different in their passport. He literally has full blown facially hair in his passport as he does in person, and looks exactly the same. We just got back from Miami and had absolutely no problems with just his license. He can use these IDs to travel the country and even travel abroad, but this establishment thinks they can decide who’s FEDERAL AND STATE IDS are valid. I’ve worked for federal institutions, where even just one of these ID’s would’ve sufficed. Just sounds ridiculous that it’s up to the OPINION (not written rules) of the ID checker, who only seem have a problem when it’s not a group of white and privileged people. This is why we have civil rights. Do better as humans. Unfortunately I will not be returning here ever again and will be strongly advising others to do the same.Side note: I have lots of friends that would always refuse to come to this establishment because they were scared of being racially profiled. I would like to sincerely apologize for being so blind to it and turning my head. You have a better chance of getting in if your an 18 year old white person with a fake ID than you do being a 30 year old POC with multiple forms of valid ID.
First time visit on a whim with a party of 9 and we were very impressed with the service right from the front door! Meg was amazing! The bartender anticipated our drink needs and took care of them right away! Tino the manager made sure everything was to our satisfaction and even gave us a tour since it was our first time there. Oh, the food was delicious too!! Definitely glad we stumbled upon this place!

Was there for a band show. Wanted to have lunch. Maybe they don’t serve lunch when bands are playing there in the afternoon. There was no one present that we could ask. No identifiable host/hostess. Bartenders were slammed with no seating availability. Further walk in we saw a “dining room” but, again, no one available to ask.
Very overcrowded, kids running around. Just wasnt what we expected.
Another amazing meal and brunch at Bar A! This place continues to amaze me. Growing up in my 20’s, Bar A was the place to be. Now in my upper 40’s, it continues to be a destination of quality food, service and entertainment! Saturday and Sunday brunch is amazing! Check it out; you’ll be impressed!
Best bar I have been to at the NJ shore. Parking is ok they do their bestServers and bartenders are very nice people, very friendly tip them well they deserve it. Food was delicious and on time. I love the outdoor part of the bar it is amazing. Great place to see a show inside of the venue. Support this bar they support live venues and are nice enough to host events. A few blocks away from the beach.
If i could give this place negative stars i would. the woman with the green hair and black hair checking IDs in the front, felt the need to grab me with her hands and shove me in the bar, id fire her. That’s just me? I guess this place isn’t run on costumer service. I’m a paying costumer. ???? You got employee that put hands on others. Again if you missed it green and black hair. Bouncers have a horrible method of checking IDs. they need to invest in appropriate scanners because requiring a second form of photo ID at a place like this is obscene. none of the bars have cocktail napkins for spills, none of the bathrooms have working toilets, half the bars are cash only while others have a credit card minimum, and the overall cleanliness is something like a frat house. i honestly have no idea what the hype is about because i won’t be returning
Went on a Tuesday cause i heard they have a popular event every Tuesday. i expected it to packed but not PACKED to the point where you can’t even dance or even get a drink without being spilled right after you brought it, you’re literally marinating in body heat, LUCKILY nobody stunk everyone smelled good but it’s a safety hazard for sure. i legit was thinking damnn if someone shot this place up everyone is DEAD there’s no room to do anything hide or run. Then paid 20$ to get in to just get drinks spilled on me and to just stand there, i came here to dance not stand and get pushed around then you have ppl on the stage who aren’t even dancing just standing looking stupid like let the ppl who actually know and wanna dance up on the stage. it’s a nice big bar to check out tho.
My son turned 21 on 6/16, he went to this establishment on 7/4 with friends. Showed his STATE ISSUED LICENSE they denied him bc his license says “probationary”… they said he couldn’t use it and needed his passport, so I drove 30mins to meet him mind you got stuck in standstill July 4th traffic for 20mins… gave him his GOVERNMENT ISSUED PASSPORT for him to be told he was 17 when he took the pic so they couldn’t accept it… I didn’t realize establishments are looking at PICTURES and not ACTUAL BIRTHDATES on OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS. And yes my son is not white and after the experience which seemed racial deemed and reading these reviews pls don’t bother giving your money to a racially promoted establishment. And believe me I will make sure more platforms hear about how this establishment is run.
Had a 21st Birthday party there last night, Food was Awesome, Atmosphere was Great, country Line Dancing was so much Fun, Our Waitress was Absolutely Phenomia, She was so Helpful, Friendly, Kind, Polite and had the most Incredible Smile the entire evening.Thank You, Bar A for such an Awesome night 🙏🙏
Wish I could give less than 1 star. This place is extremely unprofessional and expresses complete disregard for the customers. The bouncers are overly predatory and abusive with aggressive tactics when dealing with people. I will never go here again and never recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a good time while being safe. My wife and I felt like we were physically and verbally abused by security. There are no rules and no one cares if you mention it to management. Boys club at its finest.

We went to see a friends band and figured we would get some kind of bar food. Our server was raving about their new chef so we order some of the specials. What a surprise. Food was outstanding. We had the opportunity to speak with Chef Bobby and he is excited about some positive changes. We will be back.
Wearing gym shorts? Have a probationary auto license? A government issued passport? Sorry, you’re not getting in! The bouncers at this establishment are wannabe cops on a power trip. They won’t let you in under the most silly circumstances. An actual cop went up to one of the bouncers and asked him why he wasn’t letting a girl in (who had her physical passport). Customer service is an actual nightmare; government issued forms of identification should be accepted regardless of whether or not it was issued when the person TURNED 21. Just because someone got their passport 4 years ago when they were 18 does not mean they aren’t 22 now. Absolutely ridiculous, rude, and unprofessional.Responding to the owner: EXACTLY my point. It should NOT be a problem. But as many other reviews say, getting into your establishment with proper identification IS a problem. So check your bouncers and listen to your patrons instead of claiming they’re lying or misinformed.
Before you go, remember to take 10 forms of ID. This place thinks they’re a passport agency or the DMV. I waited in line for 30 min just to get denied because they didn’t take the type of license i had. & the “securities” that look 15 years old we’re super rude about it. They must think they’re tough for working a security job. There was no need to act big, aren’t you supposed be nice to your customers?? & isn’t a bar based on age not what type of form of ID you have?? If that’s your policy make it known, have your people tell your customers who are waiting in a long line so you don’t waste their time.
We went to have a drink while enjoying the playoffs. It was 👍. Food was delicious! Their appitizers are a go to. Love their Sweet Potato Fries, Steak Bites and Fried Pickles!! We could talk even with the background noise and had multiple views of the game along with some funny comments and local info running on TV screens in the multitude of many. Wish we started this at the beginning of football season. We will be back.
Cool place its one of the best mega clubs at the jersey shore I like how they have different areas playing different music and the live band is always good!I just had one bad experience with a bartender that was extremely rude that’s the only real issue I sat with the staff. And the bouncers could be a little nicer but that’s understandable knowing the nonsense they have to deal with from drunk college kids.Best day to go would be Tuesdays it’s more of a college crowd but it’s always fun I had a yearly pass one year and it was total worth it if you like going and don’t want to wait in line.The thing I would want them to bring back is the peanuts they use to give free at the outside food court for some reason they stoped it last year.
I was there for an event so the food I had was free/pre-paid with the entry to the event. The food that was included in that was good. I liked the atmosphere and layout of it. That was my favorite thing about it. And how close it is to the beach.

Tuesday night is mostly worth it. $20 cover but then the beer costs 50c which is amazing. I spent $4 in drinks the whole night which makes the cover worth it. Overall, a fun club. I recommend showing up after 9 on Tuesdays to avoid waiting in line for 1 hour to show your ID.
I went in midweek for a quick gobble and go burger and fries. Service was very good the food came out reasonably fast and tasty and Im trying to figure out how to describe the atmosphere, its a little bit of a dimly lit bar atmosphere but in the middle of the week with not too many people in the place I really found it laid back and relaxing Im sure on a Friday night it would be quite different
By far one of the worst places Ive been too . As a travel and restaurant enthusiast whom dined at 5 star restaurants and bars. The environment and the services I had experienced in this place is terrible. In addition, to a low rating my party of 8 and I dined at the bar and the music and power kept on going out every 25 mins . The DJ music of selection was not good and not diverse . The DJ kept on playing old teens 2000 music like Cascada. If there was more diversity of real Latin Music or Better Club remixes it will attract more people. The food and the bar service is over priced and forgettable. I asked for a glass of sangria at the bar . And the bartender I spoke to quoted we dont make that here. But then gave a Contradiction quote back and told me she can do a white sangria ? I agreed to what she offered and whatever she created was not a good at all. It tasted like a watered jungle juice. I eventually asked for a napkin with my drink and told me she couldnt do that for me.. I have experienced and seen prejudice people before in my life and this bar is one of them. Allowing people at the bar to swear and to talk about Politics out loud was not very inviting to me. The environment and the wait staff was not very welcoming in over all and as a diverse person I felt like a fish out of water and i did not belong. I will never come back to this place ever again.

Went here after a COVID memorial walk. Food was good drinks were reasonably priced and service was great. Only reason for 4 stars was there was no outside heating on a brisk day and no option for the party to move indoors because of the great turnout. I will def return for their great wings, nachos and cold beer.

Really good food and specials. Its close to train and easy to get a safe ride after a night here. Ive been here off and on for 8 years. Its like a well-oiled machine. Some of the bartenders are salty. Just go to a different one. Outside bars are fun but dont bring dogs. Under 21 allowed u til a certain time so plan accordingly.
RUDEST BARTENDER!! Front bar as soon as you walk in. Girl with bra straps hanging out all over the place. I heard her tell a lady to keep her tip because she needed it more. So rude! At this point, I would consider myself a regular. Bar A is a staple of Lake Como / Belmar area, the staff is very hospitable. Heather the bartender knows most of us by our first name and has a cold one waiting for you without you having even to ask! She is very thoughtful and ensures that we have a pleasant time every time we stumble in. Another strong employee of Bar A is Sheradon (hope im spelling it right) she is easily the strongest food server they have. She is sharp, hardworking, and very kind. The duo between Sheradon and Heather they can probably run the bar by themselves and the customers wouldnt recognize the difference in service. I am huge about making relationships with my bartender and anyone serving my food but I have to say this duo has gone beyond that. Amazing service from our server Paisley this weekend. She was attentive, helpful, friendly, and didn’t miss a single request. I was unlucky enough to be at this bar during a confrontation where a grown man yelled at this worker and even physically pushed past her. I also work In management in the service industry for many years, and am disappointed in what I saw here. The manager gave this man a free meal when he should’ve been asked to leave for being drunk and physically intimidating to the worker. I would’ve asked a customer like that to leave the business and never return. I would ONLY return because of this server, but the management is disgraceful. They may think people don’t notice, but we do. And that ruined my night. Planning to visit, request this server, and make up for the tip this unruly man didn’t leave.
Customer service is poor!! I got to know about Bar-A from Louis Bruno. Since then, every other Fridays, when I come to Jersey Shore Hospital, from Monroe, I would stop by to have a drink or two, and get a few takeaways, after eating. Every time I come, I would ask to speak to Joanne McEville. I would get a message of her being busy, which I understand. Today, 8.26.22, I was told she was in the office and she would be out shortly. I waited on her to come out and talk to me, but she did not come. I asked the waitress, before I left, and she told me she left for the day.I felt embarrassed, and Joannes behavior was rude. She could have at least acknowledge my request to speak to her. The waitress did not have the courtesy of giving me a follow-up until I asked after waiting for over thirty minutes. I am a customer who pays for my service, I am not looking for handouts. Joanne, you should have come to hear me out. I believe, if I was not a black woman, you would have come out to talk to me. One thing, I stand for is respect from any business I am a patron 💯I am using my hard earned money just like everyone else. I spent $145 dollars today. It may not seem a lot but it is my MONEY!!SHAME TO THE OWNER AND THE STAFF MEMBERS
I dislike that they have two checks, one for the kitchen and one for the bar but other than that it’s a decent place. The food is average. Not bad and not memorable.

Visited during Restaurant Week and had an incredibly delicious meal—short ribs over mushroom risotto. The food was perfectly seasoned and the beef, fall apart tender. The risotto was creamy deliciousness, studded with mushrooms. Appetizers were a crispy garden salad with a tart cider vinaigrette and a lovely burrata cheese board. Both were excellent. Dessert was an large portion of tasty chocolate/ chocolate cake and a moist vanilla crunch cake. We met Chef Bobby as he walked around checking on tables, exchanging pleasantries with his customers. Kudos to this talented, inventive, affable chef. Don’t miss an opportunity to eat at this restaurant. We are from Philadelphia, staying in Point Pleasant for a short vacay. Chef Bobby’s menu drew me in as I searched for an unusual meal online. We will come back to BarAnticipation the next time we venture down to the shore and so look forward to eating this fine chef’s offerings. Thank you, Chef Bobby!!
As there are only a few options of nightlife bars to attend at the jersey shore, this bar gets attendance it has no business deserving. The process to enter the bar rivals 2002 TSA standards. Ive witness grown 30+ year old men and women be turned away for whatever reason as the bounczar didnt like their ID. It is nice that they let you pay $20 for the experience of this place with relatively packed bars, bad service, and this overarching sense that you can get kicked out at literally any time. I think one of the hiring criterias at this bar is finding workers that were severely neglected by their parents and crave a sense of superiority. Once they put on that Bar A t-shirt and hat, they feel invincible in their kingdom. It is a shame because it is a huge bar with a lot of potential but the staff just ruins it. I would rate this bar zero stars if I could.
Atmosphere is beautiful, crowd lit too, liquor is a bit on the stingy side, but regardless similar to other bars in the area.Been playing phone tag with them for 2 weeks now, left voicemails to 2 managers and an email to the security department; all of which was given a lack of response.Definitely come here for a good time but dont expect special treatment after spending money here on your next arrival.Also they threaten to not let you in if you hang up the phone on them, childish management.
Ive never had food here.The venue is small when a good band is playing; elbow to elbow. I dropped my DL under my vehicle seat on the way out of my car. I presented an expired DL at the door for proof of age and was sent away because my DL was a previous one. I was so embarrassed by the seen the security guard made speaking so loudly about my ID that my girls and I just went back to my car and we went somewhere else. I get my laziness is no excuse to present an outdated DL, but dramatic humiliation for it was unnecessary. Thanks.
Have been a few times. Country night is always awesome. The burgers are to die for!! Went last weekend to see the band. Band was great, sadly the DJ played longer that the band.
EXTREMELY rude bouncers. they let me in, i left to help a friend and they would not let me in again because i was not carrying a back-up photo ID. i told them to scan my drivers license and even offered to pull up my student account page and more but they rudely dismissed me, saying quote just get out of here, i dont wanna talk to you. i have never been denied entry, especially so rudely. met another group of people who were denied entry for the same reason and we all happened to be non-white. i would NEVER come back and suggest you dont go either, especially if you arent white.

The owner called my review a lie so Im here to respond to him/her.I showed your bouncer my license which I got from the dmv and he said it wasnt a legit I.D.When I told this awful man that it actually is real and from the dmv, he said I needed to go talk to them about it. Who says that?Your security guards have a real issue, and as owner, you are responsible for that. You call it a lie because you know its true. Respond to this why dont you?
This bar is an absolute JOKE! Make sure you bring 10 forms of ID or else you’re not getting in. Also, the “security” staff will eavesdrop on your conversation. This place is unbelievable! They have so many areas inside and out with over ten different bars. The even has a manmade beach with waterfall and Cabanas. Also Tiki bar and an outside concert area. This place is a must see!!!!

My 1st time here. Place is huge. It holds 5000 people. Geared for the younger late crowd. I only gave it 3stars due to nothing going on during the day for us old fogies. The staff was very friendly and showed us around. If i were 35 yrs younger Id definitely be here at night but now Ill be home watchin Jeopardy at 7pm

Disgusting bar that wouldn’t give us any reason why 1 or 14 of us wasn’t allowed in (who was 24 years old). proceeded to tell us 30 min late it was because of “lip” our friend wasn’t allowed in because she said she was 24 years old. this place is full of what looks to be 15 year old bouncers who don’t know how to do their job. also told us to go back inside when we weren’t even outside to begin with which was very weird to me. all staff flipped us off when we left which i’ve never seen a bar be so unprofessional but i’m glad we didn’t give any money!
Bar A is always a great lunch place, good burgers. Never disappointed. Fun to sit outside and not feel like youre on a busy road.
Staff is rude and racist. Got kicked out because some dude kept touching me so my boyfriend pushed him back to get him away from me. Security came after us like we were the problem and they threatened to call the cops on us. For what? They need to get their facts straight before assuming we were the issue but I guess because the guys we were with had brown skin they were automatically considered guilty.
Spent the money on two cabanas for a close friends birthday, after spending hundreds of dollars on liquor and beer, having to use the restroom I was immediately kicked out from the venue and separated from all of my friends and entire birthday party for saying hello to a bartender than works at bar A. Fully charged for everything I left sober and upset as everyone else had to drink and eat everything as I sat in the parking lot waiting for the party to end. Do not have a birthday here. Do not come here for fun. The staff of this establishment is completely unprofessional and if you’re looking for a fun time look literally anywhere else.
Great cheap bar ,live music, DJ it also have a grotto outside that you can sit at, and have the feeling of being at a nice hotel. The bar is huge 4 inside bars 4 outside . 3 on the deck and table service at the grotto . Possible can hold 750-1000 people
First night of a 50th class reunion went amazing. About 54 classmates and spouses came. Management and staff could not have been more accommodating. Special THANKS to a young employee Jessie who helped find a table inside for a classmate who became overwhelmed from the heat. Food was great and the entertainment never stopped. Great night and part two is a picnic that starts tomorrow.
Was a nice place. Good food but young bar tender employees with attitude for asking questions literally had the nerve to roll their eye when asked a basic question. Bad customer service back sand bar.

I cannot begin to explain how unpleasant an experience I had at this establishment. I have a valid New Jersey ID and am 24 years old. I recently lost my ID and got a new one from the DMV. little did I know that Bar Anticipation wouldn’t let me in because my new license didn’t show the proper symbols under a black light. I have never had this problem before as this is a valid ID. The bouncers were very rude and would not help us in any form. They told us that we could show a passport ID but who carries a passport with them at all times? They wouldn’t even let us stand under a shelter when it was pouring rain so that we could look for a picture of a passport. We expected way more from this place and are extremely disappointed by this. We will never be coming back.
Our empty nest home away from home! Bar A has music for all ages! Food is great! Love love Tino the manager & our girls Grace & Victoria! We gets the biggest welcomes every time we walk in! Let’s not forget Johnnie B, just a complete sweetheart always stops by! Bar A is the ultimate customer service experience & our absolute favorite down the shore! We come for burger night on Mondays with Who Brought The Dog & our son comes tuesdays for beat the clock! We also got to hear the smokin jackets today - absolutely fantastic! If you want to experience the Jersey shore at its best go to Bar A!8/23/22 a year later & Bar A is still doing it all. I would like to send out a special thank you to Gianna who makes every Monday burger night perfect & Sam for always stopping by to check on us. Lastly Who Brought The Dog for their incredible harmonies & energy it’s the perfect way to start the week. Best burgers in NJ!
The bouncers dont accept government issued I.D.s.Handed him my license, and he said it was not legit and wanted to see my debit card. Thats extremely suspicious behavior, major red flag.
Called and asked if my dog was allowed on patio. They said no problem. So I went to bar A. Got seated in the patio area. Waitress and hostess were very nice. Than a snot nosed bouncer showed up and told me I had to leave as my food was showing up. So I will never go back there again. Bouncer was a total A-hole. Used to go there for lunch slot. Good food. But after today will never go back.
This is the WORST bar I have ever seen. Genuinely the worst and the supervisor is the most unprofessional, disrespectful person I have ever had the displeasure to me. If you don’t want to have a sour night don’t come here. Save yourself the time, money and peace.
Went last night (a saturday) and they still charged a $10 cover even though you can only stay where you’re seated unless going to the bathroom. Not allowed to walk around because of the pandemic. How are we supposed to talk to girls? I had a summer shandy at the bar that cost me $7 and then left. Better off waiting until things go back to normal.
Im a limo driver, i drove a group of people to this bar, it was a 21 birthday, 2 of them were 19 yrs, this is lunch time, the group have a reservation in el private area and they ask when they make the reservation if the was no problem with the under drinking age?The restaurant said no problem because is brunch time, we arrived at the place everyone go inside and 5 min later all come back to the limo saying one of the staff members didnt let nobody in because they have 2 under age and star making races allegations (all the guys were Indian decent born in the USA) saying after 9/11 they have to check everybodys ID. They end going to a place around the corner Boathouse, all went in with no problem.
We paid $20 and by 8pm we were inside. We needed dinner before drinking, so we went to the concession stand for food. They said the kitchen was overwhelmed and to come back at 9pm. Kindly the bouncer at the front stamped us so we could go get dinner and come back to the bar. At about 9:30pm we came back, and they told us to wait in line again. Now the line was around the block. When I approached the lady in front to show her my stamp and briefly explain the situation, she called me a FAT KAREN, and said to wait in line or I was trespassing. Words hurt.
Food is average. Its a party place not a fine dinning experience.Decent spot to watch football.They have designated areas for certain teams, which is really cool...Staff is below average. Most of them only pretended like they wanted to help...but again its Bar A, its not expected...but it would help.
Huge !.. this looks like a local beer and burger joint when you first walk in but after that its a night club with live music stage. Past that its an outdoor Oasis of bars and private seating areas made up to feel like a beach with actual sand underfoot. The food was great and the atmosphere is top notch. Recommended!
Kinda disappointed driving an hour to only get rejected because apparently “it’s the bars policy that passports are not a valid form of id.” When I showed the security the website showing passports are accepted he quickly changed his answer to say “you don’t have enough forms of secondary id”… I guess three credit cards, a school id and insurance card are not enough for them. Still don’t understand the security guys logic and guess I never will. I was being very respectful but it ultimately seemed like the security just didn’t want to let me in lol.
Definitely more of a younger crowd, which has its disadvantages haha. The place is huge and a lot of fun, especially the big stage with the sand floor.
Im not going to automatically 1 star a place because of a bad experience, I will be fair. Overall the place was fun and it wasnt to packed when I was there. Id give it 5 stars but I have to take off at least 2 because I was overcharged here. I opened a tab when we got here and ordered a Budweiser and a white claw. I then went back later and ordered 2 more Budweisers. When I went to close my tab I received a check for $30. I figured it was either a mistake or the drinks were expensive. I asked and was informed each Budweiser was $5 and white claws were $6. I informed the bartender that I only ordered 4 drinks, 3 Buds, and 1 claw so it should be $21. She went to the computer and was insisting that I ordered 4 Buds. Even if it was 4 the bill should still only be $26. Regardless I didnt argue because the bartender was clearly intoxicated and I wasnt about to get kicked out and ruin the entire night for my group. Later on someone in our group mentioned that they came to Bar A one time and was told card would be a $30 minimum. Im assuming thats what happened to me but I wish I was told that when I opened a tab. Also wish I wasnt lied to when I asked about the price. Just watch out. Other than that, fun time.
Absolutely disgusting bar. The employees could not have been more disrespectful to my friends and I. They are completely unprofessional and rude, the bar just isnt worth it. One of my friends is 21 years old, was sober, had multiple forms of identification including a drivers license and passport, and was still not let inside. There are so many other bars down the shore that are better options; dont even bother giving this place your money. Highly recommend Djais and Boathouse as alternative options, much more fun!
This establishment is run by a bunch of RACIST people. I witnessed the most blatant racism in all my years.They singled out four boys who had two forms of ID , polite and dressed appropriately and would not allow them in. When asked why they were threaten with trespassing. The men at the front door proceeded to speak amongst themselves using racial slurs about the boys after they had left. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY THERE !!
Very crowded place. Bathrooms swimming in water or whatever that was, extremely dirty. Lots of alcohol but not enough food. College atmosphere for sure.
Went there for my friend’s 21st recently. The physical place itself is nice, they do a good job at keeping people distanced because of the pandemic, and the wings were great! But halfway through the night I started to notice I wasn’t getting drunk. 5 rounds of shots, 4 mixed drinks, a few beers and barely a buzz. For me, I’d be off my rocker after that much drinking, but all my friends noticed the same. The shots of tequila didn’t burn like tequila should. The Tito’s was almost too easy to get down. Didn’t make sense to anyone. We believe they were watering down the drinks to save alcohol/costs. Bad business to be charging full price for a drink when there’s only half the liquor. It’s very possible they don’t do this often, but my experience was as such.
I stood in a line over 60 people deep and realized I didnt have enough cash in my wallet for the overpriced cover. I got my ID check and was OKd to come in. I asked the bouncer who checked it if I could use the atm so I can pay. He said sure and as I walked passed, CLOSED THE RAILING BEHIND ME AND TOLD ME I HAVE TO GO TO THE BACK OF THE NOW 80+ PERSON-DEEP LINE. I am never coming back to this place. Terrible customer service. I used to be a bouncer and that was completely uncalled for. I worked in the largest club in OKC and wed have 1000+ people a night. In a far classier place than Bar A. Wed let people by to use the atm all the time with no problems. Never have I seen such an awful policy.
Really nice place with year round entertainment. Has both inside and outside sections with friendly staff as well as plenty to do. The food is pretty good with a decent sized menu. One of the biggest plusses is that the restrooms are some of the cleanest Ive come across and we all know how that is usually not the case when at bars.
Probably the rudest staff/bouncers I’ve ever met in my entire life. They wouldn’t let my friend in because he had a passport (which is a valid form of identification) instead of drivers license due to the fact that he lost his wallet. After telling us we couldn’t go in We sat waiting for our Uber and the two bouncers and cop at the door stood there staring/ pointing and laughing at us. It made us feel extremely uncomfortable and overall it was just an awful experience. The rest of the staff is perfectly fine and this does not reflect on them as I was here the night before and had a wonderful time. But the way we were talked down to today was wildly rude and unprofessional. Would not recommend
Great place for lunch. I go here whenever possible. The daily specials are very reasonably priced and always delicious. Nice friendly bar and wait staff.
This is definitely the place to go to. The food, the service and the owner are excellent. They are respectful and me you feel welcomed enough to continue to come back. This is the best sports bar. The indoor and out door dining. Trust if you go youll be satisfied.
Walking into the music industry past. Wish we had more time to spend here, really awesome indoor/outdoor setup. Definitely recommend stopping by when they are busy or slow.
Nice atmosphere, good bartenders, fair drink prices, but even by drunk standards, the cheeseburger sliders were not good. The cheddar cheese tasted like movie theater nacho cheese on top of otherwise decent sliders.
Was excited to start the night until i was told that that you need a second form of id to get in after waiting an hour in the line. Didn’t know the dude at the door was the Batman and everyone else was the president’s secret service. I guess Biden likes to drink at this bar. It was almost a blessing in disguise though because as i was walking out i heard them play that carol baskin remix.
Good bar experience. Massive bar area with multiple sections. Decent drink selection. They like to hire bands and djs to perform live which are almost always quality acts. Beat the clock on Tuesdays is a good deal if you get there early (around 8 pm)
Attended the Remax Revolution Customor Appreciation party here as a guest of my realtor Kaycee Cavicchia! Excellent Realtor! (Look her up you wont be sorry) What a place! One of the best beach bars in the Belmar area. Separate spots with bars, sand and concert area. Good food with inside seating as well. Total fun! Its a must visit place.
It was ok. Id never been but Ive heard about it as a classic NJ shore bar, but I think its reputation exceeds its actuality. The whole place just had an air of pretentiousness like they knew they were the place to be, and if you didnt like it well thats on you

Fun environment but the WORST customer service ever. Waitress was extremely rude and condescending and kept blaming us for kitchen mistakes. Manager was also extremely rude as well. Staffing needs to be changed before I return
It was 10x’s better then I expected. You walk past the hostess and it has something for everyone. There was a Grateful Dead cover band playing in one section. There was a memorial service in another. Cute private cabanas in the next. Walk inside and catch the scores on the TV. I was there for my 40th high school reunion.
Ive been going to Bar A for 19 years. As I get older, I like it even more than I did while in my 20s. The food is amazing, the executive chef truly cares about the menu, they have great specials all week long and the service is always top notch. I recommend Sunday Brunch and Monday Night 2 for 1 burgers.
Awful. No credit cards accepted, terrible service, and a mostly underaged crowd that shoved and groped me several times when I was in a completely sober state. Not quite sure how they have passed any health inspections because there were cans, plastic cups, napkins, and other containers all over the ground. Several areas of the bar smelled of human waste, and the bathrooms were completely unsanitary with urine all over the toilets and other unidentifiable liquids on the floors (slipped several times). Wish I could give them 0 stars because I have never seen such a terribly run establishment. Would never return, stay far, far away from this place, and go to Jacks Tavern up the road instead. Much nicer atmosphere, better staff, and enjoyable live music.
Great bar, I like the environment but not the clothing policy and long lines. Bartenders tend to ignore you when your asking for too many drink on beat the clock, bit not all of them. Would revisit.
My wife and I went today for resturant week. We had the fixed menu and it was the best. We have never had a bad meal there. It is well worth the price. One of the better meals in the Belmar area!!!
Tonight was 2 for 1 burger night. Real good burger cooked to order. It was Not one of those pressed frozen burgers either. Lots of TVs great waitress and a real fireplace that was roaring when we got there. Been here lots and have enjoyed every visit.
Excellent Place, well def come back. We came to try this place for the Jersey Shore Restaurant week and the food was awesome. The owner came to greet us a few time and to ensure everything was ok. The lady that served us was very nice and sweet. Wings were to die for, calamaris were super tender, skirt stake cooked to perfection and full of flavor, chops looked amazing and my bbq chicken was delicious. Live music was awesome!
My wife and a few friends drove out almost a half hour to get to this bar.They read the website to see the policy about ID’s.As you can see in the image, Passports are a valid id, as they should be.But this guy takes a look at it and says no, anyone that doesn’t have a liscense and hands me a barely used passport than I can’t let them in.And that’s that..Antisemitic? Probably..Why else would this guy not let the group in with perfectly legal documents that are approved according to their own policy?!!Look, if you don’t like serving customers, you should probably not own a bar..They went elsewhere.

Google took down my last review so in this one I will be brief. Bar Anticipation is not a friendly environment. About a year ago I rented a cabana for my birthday and upon arrival, the bouncers let everyone in except for my two minority friends. I am still scarred from this experience as it was my first blatant encounter of racism and one I will never forget. Please stand in solidarity and do not give this establishment your business as they love to flourish on keeping the customers “white and privileged”.
