The Avalon Ballroom

Tonight was my first night at The Avalon and I enjoyed my time in the beginning salsa group. I stayed for the social dance and everyone was super friendly and worked with my beginning skills. Cant wait to go back!

Fantastic venue with many different rooms that are simultaneously hosting many different types of dance. The best event is their monthly Saturday night swing dance — with a blues room!!! and a live band!!!! Their ecstatic dance is great, too.

So much fun. Great instructors and lovely people to dance with. Very friendly and fun environment. Thanks everyone for a very lovely evening af swing and blues!

Beautiful dance space with multiple ballrooms. Ive been to dances here for tango, blues, and swing, though Im sure there are other genres of dance they host as well. There also seem to be smaller studios for lessons or smaller sessions. Idk, this place is a labyrinth of dance spaces, so just come here and explore.

What a great pillar in the community! Ive taken multiple dance lessons and gone to various community gatherings. Check it out and have fun being a part of something new!

Not sure why it posted one star. Probably didn’t have my glasses on. Sorry about that. The Avalon is a 5 star! It has solar panels covering the parking area, so it was nicely shaded, plus they have plenty of EV chargers. It was the perfect location for our electric vehicle showcase.

Every dance event I have attended here has been great. The bathrooms are always clean and well stocked. The dance floors are well maintained and a joy to dance on. Plenty of covered parking and free charging for electric vehicles. Amazing.

Ive been going to the Avalon for years. Even after moving away, I still make a point to catch a dance there whenever I can. Its truly a special place, made magic by the people who go. By far the most friendly and inviting dance community Ive encountered

Id never been to this Dance Ballroom. The building is quite large, with many studios for teaching and practicing. The ballroom was HUGE! Lots of room to do your thing, and plenty of room for many partner dancers to move around freely without hitting objects or bumping into other dancers.The instructors are great at keeping it simple, and taking time to explain moves, and details that make the dance move better and cleaner. The interior is very clean, and the wood dance floor is immaculate, well cared for and smooth. Very nice and clean restrooms. Plenty of tables and cushy sofas to catch your breath. They also have a large parking area, of which most is covered.If you like to go out dancing, then check out this classy ballroom for a great evening of music and dancing. Very highly recommended!

My friend introduced me to this place when I told her that I think I want to learn dancing. Been here twice now.Extremely affordable Thursday evenings! Theres Salsa, Bachata, Swing. Loved all three of those things.Ive kinda missed meeting new people and this place is a great place to socialize. I cant even count the number of fellow grad students I met here rather than at the university. 😅 Must go with friends / family. More the merrier!

The Avalon is a Colorado treasure, with all kinds of dance and music events and a perfect dance floor. Ur favorite events here are contra dances - visit the CFOOTMAD site for info about this beginner-friendly, sociable dance for all ages and backgrounds.

A hidden jewel of Boulder. The best, spacious dance floors in the Denver metro area, and very welcoming crowds in a non-bar-like environment. Everyone who goes to the Avalon will be dancing. No food or drinks available other than from a drinking fountain, with a few occasional exceptions. I enjoy the Thursday night salsa classes followed by open dancing. Other classes are also taught on Thursday nights. The Avalon is used for teaching different dance styles or other activities on other days of the week.

Excellent, large wooden dance floor and stage in the main hall, and several other rooms that allow multiple concurrent events. Also has a large kitchen area. Several different dance clubs hold regular events here including Argentine Tango and Swing to name the two that I attend.

Great venue for dancing. The main ballroom is spacious, with a proper dance floor, and they have 2 other small ballrooms, a kitchen, etc. Salsa night is always fun.

Best place to dance in Boulder Colorado, a beautiful venue! Huge parking lot

The Avalon Ballroom in Boulder, Colorado, has become an extraordinary hub for so many dance forms and events that need to accommodate large groups (I think their capacity is over 400 people) as well as smaller dance events in smaller studios. Excellent dance floors throughout, plenty of parking, excellent sound system, kitchens, etc. A great experience even if you just want to watch.

This place, but it has been a staple of Boulder dance community for a long time. They hold different types of dance events - tango, modern, tea dance, etc, and the facilities are great - excellent floor in the large ballroom, smaller practice studios in the back. Check their website for all the events taking place or check out all the fliers for various events in the lobby.

This is a beautiful venue with wonderful folks involved in numerous fantastic projects. We frequent the Saturday swing dances and Wednesday waltzes. They even offer free Wi-Fi. If you need a large dance floor to rent (or a small one), solid sound systems, and/or a large kitchen, you should check them out.

I didnt go here. But Im giving a 5-star review anyway. This is why: over the last year-and-a-half I have watched almost weekly while the Avalon parking lot has been empty last week I passed by and the parking lot was full on Saturday night. I dont know if there was one empty space. This art form is necessary and important and Ill do whatever I can to support them.

Love all the events that they hold here. Especially the Boulder friends of Jazz club that meets there the first Sunday of the month at one. I love the door prizes, food, drinks and huge exciting gift basket raffels. All singers and musicians are welcome to come up on stage and play or sing along. I love to sing and get my jazz moves on. I highly recommend it

The salsa dance lessons on Thursday nights are so much fun! The instructors are knowledgeable and make it an inviting atmosphere. There is always a good mix of men and women. There are plenty of dance partners to choose from during the open dance session but it isnt nearly as crowded as some of the clubs in Denver.

I love dancing at the Avalon. The dance floor is beautiful. The facility is deceptively large with multiple areas to accommodate dance. There is also a healthy offering of different types of dance to satisfy all types of dancers. I like the fact that it is family friendly as well.

Ive been social Latin dancing in many cities (Atlanta, Chattanooga, Pittsburgh), and this location has been my favorite to go to. Thursday $10 will get you TWO hour long lessons plus entry to the social. Ive always wanted to learn Rueda and am finally able to do so!! The atmosphere of the dancers is so friendly and their set up of beginner/intermediate/advanced classes lets you progress nicely and meet people before the social begins. Highly recommend for dancers of all levels.

Thursday is salsa night. Lots of eye candy. this is my favorite dancing venue. Between 8:40 and 10:40 I get a real workout. I dance with a lot of beginners some Wallflowers and a few very accomplished dancers. I see lots of younger people exchanging phone numbers. 2 hours of being around supermodels is probably enough for a whole week. Can you get too much of a good thing?

Multiple spaces to dance with amazing sprung wood floors built by volunteers. Dancing every day. All ages. Lessons. Run by Boulder Dance Coalition, a great non-profit. Swing, waltz, salsa, zumba, tea dances, contra, you-name-it. Being very responsible during the pandemic. Vaccinations required!

The owner and his wife are cheerful intelligent people who are certainly not strangers to hard work. The Avalons beautiful state of existence is testament to that.While installing 3800 solar panels Mr. P was present and even after 60 years of life was not timid about putting hands on the project and lifting/ staging subassembalies with the boys, then taking us out for lunch afterwards. (This was common if we we didnt have a full crew) 10/5 stars for hosting #13 employees.To be clear I dont dance, but the peace I find at the avalon is magical and is probably my favorite place in boulder city limits.

This place is a dancers DREAM COME TRUE! Its huge with many rooms of different dancing options. Tango, Contra, Folk, oh my! 😊You wouldnt know from the outside how beautiful the inside is bc its a remodeled warehouse from years in past according to people who shared about its history. The community members volunteered much of their time to make this place what it is today! Wow, thank you 🙏🏼💃 I only wished I lived in a town with this place. My friend and I were only visiting town for a Kaiut yoga teacher happening next door at Naropa Nalanda campus. She was introducing me to contra when really I wished I had known there was a tango practica happening in one of the back rooms bc that was more my dance.That said, we found info about contra in the local free paper but nothing about tango or any other dances happening that night. I would suggest a better way to advertise for people who are not from area.The photo is of the main ballroom which has gorgeous decor and has a beautiful floor, great seating, entrance, and easy access bathrooms. Tons of parking which is under carport like roofs. I noticed there are several entrances from outside to different smaller dance rooms, with the one main entrance facing the main road.

DO. NOT. GO. IN.THIS. BUILDING!!!!!!! I went there and found bugs and now they are all over our home!!!! This place is infested with bugs. It is unclean and disgusting. Plus I know someone who works here. I told him about it and he laughed and told me some stories I won’t even post here. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! Okay

A nice venue for a dance party as long as your band or dj brings ALL of their own sound equipment. Right now major construction in parking lot while building a solar cover to help power main building.

This is a great place to dance. Their main ballroom has a large dance floor thats in excellent shape and they have other small rooms that I believe they have dance lessons in and I think a few other things that happene at this event center.

I love dancing here. There are live swing dance nights, salsa night, many different kinds of dance clases, zumba, diferent rooms to rent if you want to run your own class.... And the main hall room with the fabrics makes it like a dream

Ive been invited to this establishments many times over the years and am happy that I finally made it out. Yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of the Boulder Dance Coalition and the 10th Anniversary of the Avalon so it was an extra special fun-filled day of live music, free dance lessons, International Bazaar topped with folks of all ages and dance abilities.As this was a special occasion the hall was decked out with a number of tables, tablecloths, as well as a bar. The dance floor featured several couches/chairs along one side which folks used to relax and catch up in-between dances. My friend and I found a table with a few spaces and hadnt been sitting there for more than 2 minutes before a gentlemen came up and asked her to dance.Not being much of a dancer myself I was a bit hesitant and guarded to start but urged myself to stay at least through the dinner. Meeting up with my pal at the water fountain following her dance it was my turn to take a spin on the dance floor. The gentlemen that asked me to dance was happy to teach me the basic steps of swing and after a few minutes of fumbling I let loose and before I knew it we had danced for a few songs. I was sold, perhaps dancing didnt have to be as difficult as Id thought.Soon after the dinner began. We feasted on lush green salads with fig, rice, harissa chicken, and pulled pork with peppers - all prepared by volunteers - amazing! Dessert was spiced cheese, jellied apple german cake with whipped cream, spice cake, lemon poppy cake with delectable lemon icing, as well as hand made local ice cream (which appeared to be made by one of the patrons).There was a brief slideshow of the history of the space highlighting all the hard work the volunteers had put in to lay down the floor and continuously take care of the buliding. Just that day volunteers had erected a new Avalon sign outside. Their philosophy is that if each person does a little no one has to do a lot - awesome.My partner surprised us with a visit to the event and we were soon all contra dancing out on the floor (think square dancing but much older). It was a fun, wild, dizzying adventure but well worth writing home about. I had to say it really was a lot of fun dancing with so many different people, though this had initially been something I was a bit nervous about.Another smaller ballroom featured folk dances as well as a Swedish band from Stolkhom. So awesome, many folks got way into it with festive garb which was just amazing.Ill definitely be returning soon for a lesson or two.

I usually dont review the places which I absolutely love (because I dont want others to find it). But this is an amazing place if you have totally given up on dancing in this life. If someone like me can do few decent things, there is still hope for you.

Dance venue. We rent the large ballroom for round dance events. Ballroom floor is an engineered cushioned hardwood dance floor. A kitchen is available off the ballroom. Convenient location in Boulder with covered parking.

I love the CFOOTMAD contra dancing every other Friday in Boulder!!! Some weeks the music is more lively than others... something I learned the hard way Lol. Average age of attendees is well over 60, but dont let that fool you. Everyone is very skilled at contra dancing!!! and while they are generally friendly... they might get salty if you dont know the moves :| another lesson I learned the hard way. I recommend dancing with the regulars for the first three contras if you and your dance partner are both beginners.

I was invited for a community party and very impressed to see the solar panels & EV (electric vehicle) chargers. This company cares for the environment & evolves with the change. I mentioned this to all the people that I know-thanks for the great work. You guys Rocks!

Cool cooperative/ shared space dance hall with a plethora of dance classes and a few types of dance floors. Multiple areas for simultaneous productions. Solar powered, large, covered parking lot.

According to their website A few vaccinated dancers attended unvaccinated events elsewhere, then attended events at the Avalon, and subsequently tested positive for COVID. The timing suggests that these dancers did not contract COVID at the Avalon, but they may have inadvertently exposed other Avalon dancers.

My partner and I have used the main ballroom and Sodal hall for private practice, and they are both amazing spaces (great floors, very large, and built-in sound system) for a very affordable price.

A lot of new people, the teacher for the beginner class for la rueda had a lot of knowledge but did not know how to teach at all. He made one of the guys feel really bad and she kept yelling.5/1Allison in the advance salsa class is fantastic

We had an all Staff meeting in the ballroom. They catered the meal and set up the seating. It was a great place to be able to fit everyone in.

I had never been dancing before and was honored to be invited by Nona. Everyone was so welcoming and I even got some free pointers. The food was delicious!

Spacious main area perfect for basic gatherings like a company holiday party, charity event, or a Gala to raise money for a private school. Cant imagine anything more exciting than that though..

Great space for CI Lab on some Sundays. Look up which days have CI and other dance forms as well (movement mass, Tango, contemporary class, Zumba, and more).

We had a wonderful time Valentines Day. Lessons were fun ad we loved the band and vocal group with the 40s big band music.

Just an amazing place to learn and dance salsa, bachata, and swing. The teachers are patient and skilled, the dancing is fun, and everyone has a great time.

I thought it was a nice place . People were very friendly and nice. Instructors were very professional ,nice and helpful.Didnt like the food that well was not to my taste . Overall it was a great experience.

I go to the Monthly BARHA events, and always impressed with the care of the staff and beauty of the venue. I highly recommend going there and using their room for any event your company may need.

The Avalon is a fun dance studio in east Boulder. Tons of varying events are hosted here- the place is huge!

Good variety of movement arts offered here. Im disappointed they cut down all the parking lot trees in order to install solar pv canopy, but such is progress.

Largest sprung wood dance floor in the area. Great sound systems! Hard to beat for any form of organized dancing.

The Avalon Ballroom is on a very busy street for commuting and has a large section sidewalk in front of it. They are the only business on this street that takes days to plow their sidewalk of snow. They leave it unusable with rock hard snow.

They always have some kind of music and dancing scheduled. Very fun place to go.
