I tend to get massages often for leg pain so Ive been trying out places. Ive been here twice and will come back. This is a tiny place attended by whom I think are the two owners. I like how its not a place with random changing staff. I was attended by the man and it was obvious he was very knowledgeable. He really knew where and how to work to get some pretty permanent knots out. Definitely someone who studied a lot. If you are looking for a pretty place to sit around in a robe and sip tea with light touch, this is not the place! But if you want a serious massage, especially for particular pains or problems, this place is great.

Massage in the beginning hurt a lot, she was pressing on my bones. After, she started massaging my actual muscles and that felt better. She did this one move with her forearm up my back and into my neck that felt amazing. Curtain was left a bit open when I was changing so that was a bit awkward. I tipped her $12 (20%) and she laughed and said “$15!” in a joking way. I gave it to her but yeah I agree with the other reviews that it is unprofessional. Not a terrible massage but I won’t be coming back.

Got a full body massage from this place and when I tell you they worked all the kinks and knots out of every inch of my body, I mean I may not go back to another massage place. HONESTLY ( it was that good!) The masseuse’s are extremely professional and do their job to the liking of your strength. It was honestly one of the more pleasant and CLEAN places and Super friendly! Again amazing massage and I’ll be back again for sure.

Linda is amazing, I was there yesterday after doing a quick google search looking for a massage in the location I was in. How lucky was I to get this phenomenal massage by Linda. The pressure is very intense but she will adjust as you need. I suffer from severe chronic back pain and also have issues with my neck, shoulder, hips and knee. Linda just knew what areas to focus on and I have been getting massages for over 20 years in nyc. I was so pleased to experience new techniques on my face, hands, feet, hips and the rest of my body. They use hot stones which feels so fantastic. Linda changed my whole weekend and I will be back as soon as possible. They prefer cash and please tip as they provide so much with this service. I got an hour massage and I wish I had another 30 minutes as I needed more. As I said I will be back as soon as I am able. If you are suffering with pain like I was, please come to Sun Shine Hot Stone Bodywork. Their prices are beyond reasonable please support this amazing business.

Iv had many massages in my life, and honest truth, this was by far the best one. There are no frills involved, but Linda is an expert! I came in with a horrible crick in my neck, and by the time I was done, I felt like a new person. She used the perfect amount of pressure, and every movement had a purpose. She used hot stones which was incredible. Im planning on going once every other week now. Dont miss out on this hidden gem! Thank you Linda!!!

Stay away. Massage therapist was sending and receiving loud voice notes during the massage. At the end when I paid, I tipped 15% and the massage therapist rudely started demanded that I tip at least 20%. I was shocked but now, based off other similar reviews, I see this is standard behavior at this place.If you come here, be prepared to be verbally harassed on your tip amount.

I’ve been coming here for a while now and the quality and greediness of the tips has gotten out of controlI just got a massage and always tip at LEAST 20 % , which is $12 for a $60 cash massage.Today I decided to tip $15 and Linda shows me a massage saying “ You only tip me $12 last time , today you give me $15 . Do not come back if you tip me $12 “ …I reply “ $12 is 20 % which is more than standard tipping! What are you complaining about ? “ This is all going on while other customers are getting massages ruining their experience.I have seen several other reviews mentioning this same nonsense. The masseuse should not be harassing customers to tip MORE than 20 %! By ANY MEANSInstead of harassing customers to the tip beyond 20%, management needs to pay them more! It is incredibly distasteful as a business. DO BETTER!

Linda just gave me an incredible massage. I’ve been extremely tight and she held no punches. Certainly was not relaxing, but If you want to release tension and tightness I couldn’t think of a better person

Always great!First experience was strange, but I’m coming back every time. Linda knows what she’s doing, you’ll come out a different person. This massage is healing. And the everybody is very accommodating. Use Google translator:)

Really enjoyed the massage, it was a deep tissue massage and not for the faint hearted but was exactly what I needed. There was some a bit of tension and/or language barrier when paying the tip, I wanted to pay 20% but what was typed into the calculator was 50% which I said no to and typed in the 20% value, there was quite a lot of back with even higher values and lack of clarity which wasn’t great - resolved in the end! Great massage but need to perhaps have the % figures written down for ease!

I have been coming here since 2021 after my last masseuse retried. There’s Linda, a guy named Mike, and another girl whose name I forget. Mike was a bit too rough for me but Linda has the perfect balance of when to apply a lot of pressure and when to lay off. I’m a bit of a husky fellow so what might work for me might not for someone of a different body type. It’s a rough massage. Hurts a bit while they’re doing it and your sore after. The next day however it feels like you have a brand new body! I would also add there is a bit of a language barrier. I use google English to mandarin translation to better communicate with whoever is working on me on what to focus on. Isn’t technology great?

Linda at Sunshine Bodywork is the best masseuse I have ever encountered in 30 years of massage therapy for a herniated disc.Recently I have had issues with carpal tunnel syndrome from computer work and she has helped me tremendously!Also after having my left knee replaced Linda has helped me recover from this challenging experience.My back has healed and gotten stronger with her healing energy. She works so hard!A friendly reminder to please tip more then the customary 20% because these therapists make half of there living from tips.I always tip at least 30% and for what I get at Sunshine Bodywork that’s a bargain!!

Came in with a tight shoulder and neck, left relaxed and loose. A thorough, strong massage that helped get all my knots out. I had a 60 minute session with LiLi.Great value - my second time there, both good experiences.

Lili is an excellent massage therapist. She provided adequate pressure and attention and checked in often. I had 60min feet/back neck shoulders. Everyone was really helpful and kind!

If you’re looking for a place to that will get ever knot out of your body this place is it. This isn’t a frilly fancy massage parlor but they sure know what they’re doing! Linda is truly the best.

Okay I see all the reviews and I have to say, this place is not for everyone lol. My massage was really rough but my masseuse checked in on the pressure each time. You have to speak up and be clear if youre uncomfortable. I was incredibly tight so I needed some pressure to get the knots out. I got hot stones and cupping too. Even something that felt like a chiropractic adjustment! lol It was really affordable and worth it in my opinion. I had Linda; shes very sweet, funny, patient and kind. Ill go back for sure. Just important to know, this is a typical small business, no frills. Very busy, they will see a lot of people at once, they are the receptionists and the massage therapists at the same time etc. Hope that helps.

Unfortunately I had such a terrible experience that it was almost comical.The whole time, they were in and out of my massage room arguing with two customers over a payment. They left the curtain open the entire time as the customers walked back and forth, yelling at each other. Throughout the entire massage there were loud noises and banter. They told me 10 minute free,” to make up for the noise, then they charged me for an hour, after I asked for 45minutes.Stay away!

Best massage of my life!! i got the one hour massage, it was truly full body, and the hot stones were delightful. i was bracing myself for an intense massage based on the reviews, but i actually found it comparable in intensity with other deep tissue massages ive had. although it can be somewhat painful at times, it never felt like more than i could handle, and you could tell the masseuse was extremely skilled. i dont think i really understood deep tissue massages until i started having chronic back and shoulder pain from being hutched over my desk all day. i dont have pain for the first time in months!!it seems like many of the negative reviews come out of a difference in expectations or miscommunication with the workers (possibly from a bit of a language barrier). when you call to schedule an appointment, it seems like youre making an appointment with the boss and not the workers who are actually giving the massage, and the workers have to accommodate whatever schedule there is.

I went there for a one hour massage. The massage was very strong, I was sometimes in pain but the masseuse did not check in. He kept talking and laughing with his wife. The massage was $55 and I had to pay $59.5 for the card convenience fee. The masseuse asked me how much I wanted to give for tip and I said $10. He started screaming at me in Chinese and asking for a 20% tip. I was very confused and asked if he was yelling because I was giving a 18% tip. I stopped screaming, smiled and said “ok $18”. I was like “no, no, no still $10”. He kept yelling at me again saying it’s a 20% tip minimum. I did not cave in and ended up giving a $10 tip. He asked me to get out with gestures and all as I was signing the receipt. Seriously???? Yelling at and insulting a customer for giving $10 instead of $11 (20% of $55)! When honestly 18% was already generous for the quality of service received. If a 20% tip is mandatory he should have said it at the beginning. Also there are other ways to ask. He was beyond rude with me and the whole experience was horrible and stressful. If he wants a bigger tip I suggest he stops talking with his wife during the massage instead of screaming at customers.

Nice little spot near Bedford L train stop. There are two masseuses both very friendly and they gave strong massages. If you back hurt I would recommend this place.

Listen… if i would have read the reviews and decided not to go, i would have missed out on a hell of a massage and a neighborhood gem.mind you… this is a NO FRILLS spot. if you’re coming in here expecting some bougie vibe then you’re going to be sorely disappointed…however, if you enter with an open mind you’ll have a great experience. linda is a magician that could tell the areas i was tight in as i walked through the door. she’s very kind, attentive and apologetic if too rough DESPITE THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS. did she take a phone call while i was there? yes… she’s on her own. did she check someone else in to wait while i was there… yes, once again… she was on her own.i got a 90 minute massage for $80 (tipped 25 it was so damn good)… deal of the century IMO. i’ll be back (at least once a week at that price) and i will be telling everyone i know… so, good luck getting an appointment ;)we gotta support businesses and people like Linda. it’s what makes new york!

The masseuse kept going back and forth with me and another customer, I mean he was literary massaging two people at the same time in two separate rooms. Massage was very hectic, going from one part of the body to another one and back. I felt that he might even hurt me instead of healing me, although I love my massage deep and strong. But strong in a right way. In the middle of the massage without asking he started cupping me, I didn’t ask for it but didn’t say anything. After he put those cups (also not very professionally on random spots of my back) he just left to massage another person. For 15 minutes. Never had such experience in my life. I wouldn’t go back there and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Honestly those bad reviews are coming from ignorance and unrealistic expectations.INCREDIBLE. I’ve always been very particular and skeptical about massages and it’s hard to find a good place with effective results and fair prices.At the beginning, the massage can be very painful (depending on the condition of your body) i’ve lived with chronic pain for a while and have a strong pain threshold. But it’s all about taking deep breaths while they’re doing the work.It can also seemed to be aggressive and unprofessional but believe me, at the end you will know immediately that these people are probably not trained into the western traditional “spa” but who cares, i hope they continue to be how they are, to do whatever they want because they are absoluteky knowledgeable and DO PUT A LOT of care and attention into what they’re doing. the cupping final session is just a real pamper to your body.I’ve just been with Linda and she’s out of this world.i’m planning to go there once a week as an extra aid treatment for my chronic pain.

My friend and I went in and requested 15 minute massages.... after 30 minutes go by, we say something. they claim they heard us ask for 75 minute massages which seems unlikely. we ended up paying for a 45 minute massage and they charged my friend almost a 40% tip on the credit card! ridiculous. will never go back. and the massage was rushed.

I definitely recommend going during their happy hour Monday-Thursday before 1pm. 60 minutes plus the hot stones for 55$.More than fair for the amount of work they are putting into undoing knots that bring me so much pain.I usually go with my boyfriend, he gets the woman and I get the man. They are both gentle in their care towards us and firm when massaging. My guy even instructed my boyfriend on how & where to massage me. 😂I wish I could share this experience with everyone I know!

I went with my friend, they over booked us and he was using cupping to save time to jump between me and my friend massages! We booked for 75 mints but Only one person was doing our massage and it finished in 75 mints! It’s was too loud and the room was too small that he was keep pushing my bed around . The massage itself was fine but wasn’t relaxing or worth of money with over booking!

I had booked a 60 minute massage appointment for my girlfriend and I and when we arrived they only had two masseuses and one customer already being worked on. Instead of telling us they could not accommodate our appointment, they had one masseuse work on the both of us at the same time. The way in which this was done had been through a very fast and painful massage on me first for 10 minutes and then a super painful and no requested placement of cups on my back and told me to wait 15 minutes, then I had to wait with these painful things on me I didnt want while he then massaged my girlfriend and then vice versa another round of painful massage and painful cups... My back looked so beat up after and I had never wanted cups to begin with (nor will I ever want them again in my life). I know I should I should have said no to something I didnt want as it was happening but I felt uncomfortable speaking up (my fault). I was happy when my massage ended ten minutes early as another customer came in and I was told my time was up, although I ended up paying for the full 60 minutes.. I dont know if the place was understaffed or overbooked but it was not a good experience for us.

The most painful massage I’ve had. Was not able to enjoy any of my hour there. I redirected the lady letting her know it was too painful and too much pressure being applied. It eased up for a few seconds and then continued back to before. She also demanded extra tip. Would definitely not go back here.

I highly recommend this place if you want a deep, deep, tissue massage and body work. This is not a place to go if you want a relaxing light massage. This place is better if you have a stiff back, sore muscles and really need deep. I got a 90 minute massage from Make and it was the best massage I’ve ever had.Again, if you’re looking for a relaxing spa experience, this is not it. If you’re looking for body focused work, this is your spot!

Mediocre experience. I went because I saw all the great reviews but it was deeply disappointing. There was no music playing, it smelled like stale air and the temperature was really warm despite it being gorgeous out. The massage was the worst I have had in my life. I don’t think the person who gave the message had any training whatsoever as they barely even applied any pressure or technique. They touched me lightly and en evenly and with no intention. The masseuse repeatedly stepped out of the room to talk to people arriving even though there was someone else there. And she even left the curtain and left me exposed with my pant bottoms down. So violating and uncomfortable! I left mid massage cause I couldn’t stand any more of it. Do yourself a favor, don’t go.

Today I had the pleasure nay! The privilege of meeting Linda.Her fingers of steel worked into my Deep Tissue in the most relaxing way Ive ever felt. Ive had over 50 probably closer to 100 massages over 10 years. This was the work of a woman who knows what shes doing.I have to warn you... the deep tissue... its not for the light hearted. At times I had to remember to breath. When she would ask its okay? I would sigh out a perfect.Im going back again next week because I felt like she did so much work on getting these knots out of my back that it would be a sin to let them form again!Thank you Linda! Cant wait to see you again.

This place is amazing. I was in town for work and needed to find a local spot on short notice to get a massage (I have incredibly tight shoulders). Stumbled across this establishment on Google maps and was skeptical about the 100% 5 star rating. NO LONGER. My massage was legit.Linda was thorough and relentlessly released my tension, all the while listening to my body and never making me feel uncomfortable. I wish I could take her back with me to California!

If you are looking for a good massage then this is the place to go. It doesn’t have any bells and whistles, but the massage is top notch. Be slow in your communication with them as there maybe a slight language barrier. The pricing is very fair and they don’t try to sell you any packages :)

LINDA is amazing! Had neck pain and tension, she made it go away. Best 75 min spent so far. Even gave me cupping therapy during the session. Be ready to tip good tho, they don’t play around when it comes to tips haha. It’s annoying but it is what it is. Worth it!

Massage was sloppy and painful, my neck is in worse shape than when I came in. I like deep tissue, but this was imprecise. Lady literally counted out my money (I was trying to leave $9 tip on a $55 service that I didn’t enjoy), and she demanded that I pay 20% tip. Wow, this went wrong in so many ways. Truly disappointed.

I will not go there again. I didnt have any neck pain but the following day after massage I had so much neck pain. Also I tipped her 10$ for a 55$ massage and she was screaming that I should give 12$.

OMFG CAN I SAY AMAZING?!?!!! I have bad PHN from my shingles as well as tight shoulders from accidents and even tennis elbow. I could literally feel the pain moving from my neck to my shoulder down my arm and Out!! It hurt so GOOD that I didn’t want Tom to find all my other achy areas! Low and behold, he found them and stayed long enough just to loosen the muscles up. I left feeling lighter and SO MUCH MORE RELAXED!! Tom is AmazeBalls and super sweet. Kept checking to make sure that he wasn’t putting too much pressure. I love deep tissue massages and his pressure was just like that. And then to add the hot stones. HEAVEN GUYS!! If you want what I described, GO SEE TOM @SUNSHINE BEST BODYWORK bk, ny. $60 for an hour. I know you can’t beat that. Thanks a million Tom! I’ll be back and I’m bringing friends!!

Targeted deep tissue massage. No frills and great price for what you’re getting. I felt like someone went into every muscle fiber in my back and released the stress and tension from maybe a year.

The best. Linda is wonderfully skilled and very intuitive. For example, I started biking regularly and Linda soon adapted her work to release the eccentric muscle tensions that inevitably arise from this activity. An exceptional value for an exceptional experience.

Linda is amazing, seems like she can sense energy blockage and will focus on problem areas. Very little English spoken and this is a no frills place, but don’t hesitate - the massage is incredible and the prices are so low.

Looks sketchy but one of the best hidden gems in the neighborhood. Ask for Linda and make sure you go for the 60+ minute option. She is a pro at hot stones, cupping, and qui gong. Make sure the you show them google translate for specifics because their English isn’t great. It says cash only but they always take my card. Make sure to call ahead to book!
