I loved it! I was immediately greeted by Andrew the bartender who provided great service. He was obviously educated on the offerings because he was able to provide drink recommendations and share the daily specials off the top of his head. As someone in food service management, that was nice to see. The atmosphere is great and I especially love the trinkets and wall/ceiling decor. It matches the vibe of the music that your fabulous DJ was mixing. The first thing Id recommend is more promo material that patrons can see up close because the lists on the wall are not easy to read. Table tents are a great option to promote specials. Finally, I love the amount of the space in the back patio, but I just felt disconnected from the atmosphere of the bar itself. Overall....it was a nice end to the day! ✅️🌈😊👍

Love this quirky little bar! Have only been twice but definitely plan to frequent this place more. I didnt get the vibe that its a gay bar but more of genuine mix of folks. I didnt meet anyone new so cant attest to the crowd much but the decor is beyond fun and Im a sucker for colorful off-beat vibes. The tiki style drinks and frozen drinks (big fan of that option!), are terribly delicious at a reasonable price from what I recall. Staff was friendly. Will definitely be back.

The space itself is great but the bartender serving the night I went made me feel extremely unwelcome, being outright hostile at times (short person with green hair). I would beware if you are a woman of color. Other than that, the music was awesome and the back-patio very nice!

This bar was right outside of my airbnb in Brooklyn. First of all... This neighborhood is absolutely amazing and trendy!!! This bar just added to that vibe. I found myself there everyday for a few cheap shots with my friends. The music was always great and the bartenders were super cool! I went alone my first night in town and felt very welcomed and right at home! Did I mention the drinks are cheap?? Yall know I like that! DEW approved 👍🏽👍🏽

Super fun place with DJs and fun bartenders. A safe queer space for allies and all. Sometimes theres only a single bartender so the wait can get long. Backyard space, ample seating, fun art and design. Sometimes it gets very packed on the weekends and holidays. Also there are delis open late and an amazing taco place right next door! Definitely recommend for a night out on Myrtle Broadway.

Good vibe but they didnt have any of the food listed besides the soft pretzel. I enjoyed the music.

So disappointed to be leaving this review about one of my former favorite local spots, but this place has suffered the symptoms of the area’s gentrification. Used to pay $10 for the large drink I was just charged $25 for (didn’t even have alcohol in it), and the speakers have decayed to an unbearable point. You cant preach diversity when the price point doesn’t match - affordability is inclusivity. Way too many other spots in the area that cater to LGBTQ+ BIPOC folx like me to settle for this once holy grail turned solo cup.

Unprofessional & nasty. Books artists and doesn’t even verify their equipment is working. Traveled 1 hour from manhattan $50 dollars to and from & wasn’t allowed to perform. Absolute trash. All bartenders, hosts & dj’s were high, dunk or CRACKED OUT. No wonder no one knew how to fix a simple mic. DRUG TEST YOUR TEAM

Beware of this place, it’s advertised as a queer space but the staff (bartender + dj) are completely horrible aside from the straight security guard who happened to be very kind. My friend and I were kicked out for questioning the cups/prices because he was trying the sell me a Dixie cup size drink for $20 which is absurd, the bartender (short fat troll with green hair) has ZERO customer service skills and clearly the owner of Happy Fun Hideaway is okay with this because I see I’m not the only one to have issues with the same troll of a bartender. Maybe he was drunk cause he sure was sipping behind the bar

Had a nasty experience with the bartender (short chubby guy with the green hair). Not sure what his issue was but he was extremely rude and condescending whenever anyone came up to order a drink, mind you the bar was basically empty the whole night! He had his friends chilling at the bar and would literally roll his eyes anytime he had to step away from them making things super awkward. Definitely will not be returning or recommending this place as there is nothing happy or fun about this bar. They really need to get rid of that disgusting energy before they go out of business because of him. Like I truly wish I never spent any of my money there and he doesn’t deserve the tips we gave him!!!

The energy of this place is welcoming to all members of the LGBTQ+ community. The drink specials are always topical and fun. The staff is lively and easy to talk to. The prices are decent for it being the city. And the clientele is a bunch of friends waiting to be made.

Honestly a great bar! But maybe only on Wednesday? Came in on a Tuesday and music was NOT it. Fully gave boring. Asked the bartender if he could change it and he replied with yeah,no Im going to play the music I have. Should have just came on a Wednesday! The Wednesday crew HAS the beats. Im not here to listen to saxophones and flutes. Sorry not sorry.

Spent $30 on 2 tequila sodas ($6 per drink down the street). was pulling cash out of my wallet to tip when the bartender harassed me for not including an electronic tip. told him that it’s not ok to talk to customers that way to which i was told to leave. found a hair in one of the two drinks. do not come here unless you like being harassed by employees

A good dive bar with a few speciality cocktails. The glassware is cheap. The prices are decent. The drinks are acceptable. Nothing fancy for sure, but it’s a fun atmosphere worth checking out for a very causal night out. I particularly like the outdoor “beer garden” area. It’s fenced in with ample seating. Can’t wait to enjoy it in warmer weather.

Local watering hole, great vibe, reasonably priced drinks. The bartenders are to die for and dont miss the backyard. Love all of the old movies that are constantly playing. Hands down one of the best bars in the area.

So this place can be really fun. Look out for fat bearded smelly bartender however. Tonight he wouldnt acknowledge me or my date forever and when he did told me not lean so far back in my chair and later had no idea what we ordered even though our empty beers were right in front of us. Maybe he was having a bad day, maybe he doesnt like interracial couples, maybe we were just dressed to Manhattan for him. Whatever it was he made both me and my friend feel very very unwelcome.

A nice, fairly quiet, queer-friendly bar. I highly recommend the mango chili margarita. I dont think Ive ever managed to try anything else because that margarita is so damn good. The staff is friendly, and the space is cute.

The bartender petite lady with short blonde hair is a total psycho and a terrible server. Just read other reviews on this page. I think shes only thereThursdays, amazing she hasnt been fired, tbh. She was there for Halloween on Thursday night as corpse bride. Expect to wait 45 minutes to get a drink from her. And she is hostile with customers. The rest of the bartenders are amazing and charismatic though so no shade. A lovely bar, but that woman is a huge stain on it.

I could be sucked into this bar for a while. I love the backyard. When I went (on a Sunday evening), the place was pretty empty with only a few what I assumed to be regulars. The bartender was quick with the drinks, and the drinks didnt hurt my pocketbook. See you there.

No frills kind of bar. Nothing complicated, just a casual bar in Bushwick. Mostly locals come here for the affordable drinks and low-key ambience. Certainly not a first date kind of bar, but a spot to start the night with friends.

The bartender with short blonde hair was unbelievably rude and made so many mistakes. I ordered one drink and received only one drink but was charged for two drinks. My friend and I both explained calmly that I only ordered one and only got one, but the bartender INSISTED that they had served us two drinks and said they distinctly remembered, completely inaccurately. After way too much talking the bartender basically said, okay, I know youre just trying to scam me, but Ill give you a refund for one of the drinks. I signed a receipt for the refund. Today, I wake up, and instead of having a refund credit for the drink, I find that the bartender had actually CHARGED ME AGAIN for another drink and made the receipt look like a credit. Ive never had a bad experience with a bartender in my life before this one, and it was AWFUL. I was called a liar, charged for something I never got, and then charged again where I was supposed to get a refund. Miserable human behind that bar.

Very very very cool place. Great drinks, great price. very nice inside. I stayed in an air bnb down the street, and was happy to have this bar down the street. we liked it so much we went two nights in a row for a night cap.

Came here late night of Sunday to Monday August 4th late.We took 3 IPA and shot - 30$ , paid cash, tipped on top of it, didn’t ask for a check and then after 2 sips, the bartender told everyone she was closing and we had to get out.We stood up and I expressed my surprised as she could have warned us. “Last call” is what it is. She didn’t want to reimburse the beers.The situation escalated immediately as she started yelling and being very agressive. Yelling “GET OUT” frenetically.I would recommend to train your staff as1- it is a terrible experience for a place that claims to be inclusive and a safe heaven for all human being.2- this type of violent agressive attitude is not the way to treat your guest.

Really enjoyed the people who come to this place, everyone was fun and welcoming. However, mixed drinks were disgusting and service was very rude but I would come back for the fun atmosphere.

Awesome little spot. Candy shop meets dive bar with a hospitality back bone. Chill music, great prices, attentive service, and a selection that covers all bases. What more do you need?

The pours were extremely strong, VERY pleasant, and priced low. The atmosphere was beautiful, we loved the murals.

The best part of Happyfun is the staff. Drinks are cheap-ish, the food is mids (good nacho cheese and acceptable corndogs), and the music tends to be fun. The crowd can be a little scene-y, but rarely messy.

Bartender is simply rude 12/10/22. After tipping all night, he came after us for not tipping for one drink.

You will spend your life waiting for a drink here. The bartenders on Saturday are some of the slowest and least attentive in the city. Don’t recommend this place but if you do BYOB!

Came here from out of town hoping to find a friendly queer space. Bartenders were welcoming but the DJ and his posse were a bit rude and unaccepting. Cool bar otherwise

Its a pretty ok place to drink. Not crowded. Music isnt too loud. They have good drink specials and cool stuff on the TVs.

One time I got drunk here on little pink drinks and talked to this girl. She was with my friend and another girl. It was so loud, and we didnt know each other too well, so I just left. A long, cold walk home.A few nights later I blacked out and the next day I saw a message from her on my phone- couldnt remember texting her, but whatever. We hung out a few times, slept together, and eventually it fizzled out. I guess I owe whatever that was to Happy Fun Hideaway.

A fun litte bar music is always great drinks are always fairly priced. Not the best cocktails in the world but for the price you wont be disappointed.

Fun times to be had here, but the crowd seems to be a ton of regulars. Not the place to go to meet new friends if you’re intimidated by starting conversation, as everyone seems to have their groups.

I love Happy Fun. This bar lives up to its name very well. With a diverse clientele but always very open and festive, DJs of all types, inexpensive drinks and a small backyard for sunny days, this bar has everything you need! I recommend a thousand times!
