Been a while and I heard this place was going down hill but that is an understatement. The bartenders literally steal from people and water down their drinks and the entire vibe of the place was trash. The faster this place closes the better
I had so many great times in this place back in 2001!! So much fun lol
Now they are blaming the police for the problems in the neighborhood. Its not the greatest neighborhood but the problems sky rocketed after the bar got there. Never heard of problems when the casino was there alone. The problem lies with the clientele he is bringing in. Plain and simple. Joey is blaming everyone else but himself. Just waiting to see who he pays off this time to reopen. He had to close his Miami bar because of drugs. He dont tell you that. Go back to Miami.
I went out to celebrate my friends enGAYgement at club Marcella and had such a horrible experience that left a bad taste in my mouth about this place. I ordered my friends and I 3 shots, paid $32 just to take them and find out I was served water. I told the bartender and of course she got defensive saying “she didn’t open the bar so she didn’t know what to tell me”. I had to continue to express how it was unfair and create a scene which was uncomfortable for me and out of character but I wasn’t about to let this situation slide. Long story short the bartender knows that they rip people off (water down the bottles) and eventually opened a new bottle and my friends and I finally got the shots we paid for. Situation made me feel so uncomfortable that I had to close my tab after and I left within 15 minutes after. Such a bummer they’re ripping people off, shame on this place!
Knowing what I know of the owner, I would never support this place. He moved to where it is now to cater to different cliental. Even before moving, it was already becoming a not safe space for LGBTQ+ peeps. 3 shootings in one year at the new place??!! No thank you. Ill go to the Underground Niteclub where I know my fellow queers, theys, and gays are welcome
It’s been years since I’ve visited and never this location…. We had such a blast! The security guard was professional and did a great job at the door and throughout the night, I was thrilled to see a nice coat check and a friendly happy to help face, the bartender’s were attentive and fun and the DJ was perfect. You can tell they have been paying close attention to detail, every staff member in there was great and the whole place was super clean. I will definitely be back and I hope others check it out soon.
The bartender Julia threw out my long island ice tea that I only took a single sip out of just to scam me into buying another drink. She’s a thief and the hiring managers know that she stole credit card information when she was working her last job at Roxy’s. They like that she’s thief cause not she can steal for them.
Be careful at marcella. The bar tender I had, Black guy with dreads charged me for more expensive drinks (which he admitted to) said it was too loud and tipped himself without showing me a receipt and claimed it was auto gratuity (which there is not). I said excuse me where my receipt and he sent me to management. Marcella gave me a hard time about getting a manger and after 20 min of being patient multiple people including a guy who lied and said he was a manager threaten to throw me out once I got upset. The owner finally came and told them to give me a refund. The bartender I had was a thief and who knows how many people he did that too.
Awful place to go to. Security very unprofessional and rude. My friend got thrown out and mazed for obsoletely doing nothing. The bar tender charged me 2 different prices for the same exact drink. And when I told her how much I paid $$$ for the first drink. She completely ignored me and said “that’s the price”. And in both instances it was the same girl that sold me the drinks. What a shame. Would never recommend this palace for good times. Worst place. 0/5
There’s an older bartender with brown hair, Julie/Julia?, who has absolutely no business working as a bartender. I was dd for the night so I wasnt drinking. I asked for a water and she rolled her eyes and walked away, then proceeded to give me a disgusted look from the other side of the bar while asking other people what they needed. I had to flag down another bartender, who thought I was already taken care of, while Julie/Julia glared at me from across the bar. Going through the reviews, theres multiple negative reviews making complaints about an older, brunette bartender who is rude. Maybe its time to address this.I’ve been going to Marcellas for 8 years now and honestly I think I’m done. It doesn’t feel like a safe place for lgbtq+ people anymore, it feels like just another money hungry night club. Super sad because I had so many positive memories and I would love to make more. I hope y’all make some necessary changes asap.
Joey Marcella made a grave mistake to move the club after decades in the theater/Chippewa district. Most people don’t travel to the opposite end of downtown to go to Marcella’s because there’s nothing else there… The security staff and bar tenders changed, AND the crowd changed, smuggling in guns inside the club… now 2 shootings… one of them a fatality!!The good days of white and black parties and drag shows with great staff and a good crowd at a good location are long gone… They’ll close eventually, whether forced by the city, or from no one going to that area, or because people don’t feel safe. such a shame.
If I were the owner of Club Marcella I would be ashamed of the security and staff I’ve hired. Very unorganized, unprofessional, and pricey. Changing the price higher and higher as the line gets longer and people who’ve been standing outside for 2-3 hours pay the consequences. The security staff needs serious reconsideration. My friend walked away from me while I was trying to put our group together to leave the club safely. I peeked my head out of the exit door to see if she already was waiting outside, I only opened it slightly just to poke my head out & see if she was on the sidewalk. I wasn’t inviting anyone in, and it was obvious I was trying to find my friend after asking if they’d seen a girl wearing a similar costume as me (they ignored my question when I asked). The security guard came at me fired up from the start and said: “I swear to “f***ing god you open this door one more time” as if I’d done it repeatedly. I then exclaimed back to him he needed to “calm down” and “not to be rude there’s an intoxicated girl going to miss her Uber”. The guard proceeded to call me “f***ing crazy” and physically removed me for peeking out the door and telling him to watch his tone during an unsafe situation. We missed our Uber naturally because she was looking for us from inside the club after I was thrown out and couldn’t hear my phone calls. Security did nothing to stop the fights and shoving inside the club or to stop the pushing and verbal arguments/line cutting outside. It’s time for a change it’s not a safe environment.
The club is stunningly beautiful, Joey did an amazing job designing it. Which is why its such a shame that it has turned into a trashy straight club with a drag show. No one in the LGBTQIA+ community goes here anymore because its not safe and its no longer comfortable. This after several shootings at the club have rocked the community to its core. Opening a club on that side of Buffalo was the wrong choice and has ultimately led to its decline.
Paid $20 cover at 105 am for a 1 am drag show and there was no show…. Bartender was rude and we ubered to and from the club to show friends a drag showWouldn’t of spent all the money for Ubers if website was accurate
I had a VIP section, Alondra and Kelsey were our bottle girls they were fun and super friendly. They will bring the party vibes even if your group is lacking. I had an awesome night thanks to them and cant wait to go back.
Security here is awful... They play favorites... I went with a group of friends. We bought VIP which was 900$ and bought extra bottles. They at first tried to put us at a corner of the bar and claimed it was VIP instead of putting us at a booth... After speaking up about the situation they moved us to one of the VIP booths. It didnt matter though because the entire time the security was letting people into our VIP booth to the point where we had to basically guard the entrance ourselves. Its unfortunate how unprofessional the place was and I definitely do NOT recommend
The club does not even deserve a single star. I will admit the music was good. However, a club security threw four drinks down my back. Then, proceeded by saying that it wasn’t his fault. Yes, it was his fault and it was on purpose. I was not even on his way. After this, he went into the back room or whatever it was without even apologizing for spilling drinks down my back. He comes back after through that same door and asks if we slammed the door. I said we did not. He still did not apologize for spilling four drinks on me and continued to get even more irritated for absolutely no reason because he was the one causing this entire issue. So, he leaves and warns us to not do that again, although we said we did not do anything. We just stand there and he comes back through the stage to attempt to remove us from the club and brings another security guy because he clearly cannot do things on his own. At this point, I start to ask where the exit was because we did not want to have any issues. He just kept screaming at us, then pointed where the exit was. Those two security officers deserve to be fired for treating people, who have spent money to provide for the business they get paid from, with disrepesct.
End of an Era — 8 years later and it’s not the same…Despite the TSA checkpoints / feel down before entering, there is still violence happening? It’s real sad.Unfortunately the few LGBTQ folks that continued to support, are thinned to almost nothing.— Location brings the WRONG crowd— Losing longtime customers— Two stars, for the Music & Queens
I love this place, is clean, they have variety of drinks, good music, amazing shows and ambiance!I will highly recommend! Also the workers are nice.
Everything was good until we step outside for 5 minutes to help a stranger help find her lost phone and suddenly they didn’t want to get us inside again. We had some drinks but completely ok, The security was not understanding of the situation and super rude, they pushed my girlfriend as she was trying to speak normally to the security. Music as ok but that situation never happened to me ever before and completely broke the mood. Probably not coming back , not worth the trouble
Went to this place after the shady tour on Mar 29. Its really awesome!! Coming from Toronto, my expectations were not too high for the drag scene but the Queens were into it and very entertaining. The DJ was amazing, one of the best at remixing and transitions I have heard in a while. Drinks were decently priced (compared to Canada). My only critique was that the smokers section has a curtain not a door so when the smokers go out and smoke, it kind of fills the club. My clothes and shirt all smelled like smoke after. Another thing, in Canada, we always have coat check so I thought it was strange that coat check was not available. Definitely would be interested in going back to this place!
0 starsSecurity plays favorites. Horrible. Waited outside over 2 hours to get screamed at and belittled like a dog. Dont even waste your time or money. Horrible experience. Do not go if youre not gay because apparently thats disgusting . ✌️ What about bi, or alli? So sickened by the level of ignorance. 🤮
Will was such an amazing bartender!!! Beyond helpful and kind! Please stop in and check this place out, and ask for will! He has the upmost respect for his clients! Thank you for such a wonderful night!
Horrible service. Never thought I’d say they were homophobic, but after my friends were kicked out a maced/pepper sprayed?! Yeah. Not a safe space anymore. Don’t come here if you’re different and want to have a good time.
Went here for the first time last night and was very unimpressed. Everyone always says this place is great but that was not my impression. We got to the front door at 1am and they tried to charge us $20 to get in. We then were told by someone else that it was $10 and to come on in so we went. My first impression was already bad at this point but then a security guard grabbed my arms and aggressively patted me down. She also threatened to kick out some of my friends for not listening. The bartenders were not attentive at all, it was insanely crowded, many people were way to drunk for comfort, and it was hot. The music was trash, played songs barely anyone new and only would play a couple seconds of the song before switching to another. Long story short I will NOT be going back!
Marcella’s security stopped my Bestfriend soon as he pulled in told him to get out the car and before you could even blink they shot his car up. Then lied and tried to say he did a hit and run when there was no accident at all .. never go here !
I went there Saturday night for my friends birthday, the bartenders behind the the bar were extremely rude. I met some guys from out of town who ordered drinks for me, my friend & themselves the bartender said they were taking too long to pay for the drinks & got extremely rude clapping his hands like hello. When we got out drinks which were cranberry & vodka they tasted like straight cranberry juice so the guys complained. I decided to leave & got bum rushed by security & knocked my phone on the floor where they wouldnt let me get my phone they kept it and still have yet to give it back.
Came from Rochester ny a 1hr away just to go to this night club , first they was so very unorganized with the line . people kept cutting , the staff was rude . I wasn’t able to get in the club due to the staff mistaken me for someone else who was spitting last time at the club but I was OT at that time so I showed them proof I went though the doors then not to long after the lady at the door , wanted to be in my conversation so bad with one of my friends asking me “ why it took so long “ next thing I know she telling her security coworkers to remove me , I walked out with no assistance , but it was the crazy thing every , I really don’t appreciate the rudeness and not understanding of the club the they be over charging.
Went here for my 19th birthday. Was very impressed by the atmosphere. The mini drag show was empowering and entertaining. The hot body contest was fun because it kept the crowd engaged for some time so we didnt get too tired too fast. Id reccomend this place for underaged and 21 and up individuals alike. Great energy. Great staff. It didnt feel sketchy in the slightest. Great vibes. Fabulous memories! Thanks Club Marcella for helping me dance the night away and send off nasty 19!
First time going tonight and was mildly disappointed. Starting with the cover to even enter, I had a friend who was charged double what I was charged to get in. 10/10 would not recommend if youre not drunk. The music was really subpar. It was basically the same beat/mix and drops with different songs layered over the top. Also, not good songs - examples include but are not limited to Latch by Sam Smith, Cheerleader by OMI and Who Let the Dogs Out by who tf knows. Also let the whole song play out so it got boring fast. The best part about the night was the variety of people attaching themselves to the two stripper poles in the front of the dance floor. Club Marcella was OK
Good spot for college students, ID’s rarely checked and if so barely, bouncers dont care
No longer an LGBTQ+ safe space. All shootings and underaged drinking now. Disappointing.
Absolutely the worst and most disrespectful security team I have ever encountered! They would assault you and then tell you to leave the club. Only recommend to those who like to get assaulted by security for fun!
Ive seen better drag shows, the non alcoholic drinks are way over priced $3 for a small soda / pop, the music was great very small place and some of the drag queens were more about the money than doing the show... If you can check out torontos drag clubs, do so.
Started going here since I turned 18, and have been continuiesly ripped off multiple times. Along with harrased verbally by managment for misunderstandings. This club is run in an unacceptable fashion, and has really gone down in quality if it was even high quality in comparison, to the present. Go to any other club.
Club Marcella is the life of downtown Buffalo! They have the hottest parties, the best drag shows, the best drink prices, and so much more! Im originally from DC and there are many gay clubs in that area and surrounding areas, but Club Marcella is my favorite by far. Everyone in the DC area have weird egos that keep me from enjoying myself, but everyone in Marcella just wants to have fun!! ❤ every single one of you!! ❥ ❥ ❥ ❥ ❥ ❥
Garbage club that pours the weakest drinks in Buffalo. Super aggressive security team, watched them assault another patron and when I pulled my phone out to record, a security guard snatched it out of my hand and deleted the video and told me I was banned. Little did she know deleted videos go into an archive. The attached photo is the phone snatcher, watch out for her.
This place needs to be closed down. Multiple shootings recently there. Very unsafe atmosphere and management does NOT care about anything except making money. Trash
The place that has terrible music and racists aspirations truthfully. Bring a crew and have fun but you know you’re subscribing to a place that doesn’t value POC and their humanity. But dance on!
Security isnt secure and theres a lot of unsafe happenings inside to say the least. There are shootings here a couple times a month.
The bartender which was older was not only rude but did not start a tab for me. I tipped her very well and was disappointed with her service.
Cars getting booted Everywhere in parkingLot costing gay patrons $150 and being booted? It’s a scam and it will be addressed through the city and to the public and gay community - just because it’s not part of the club though they charge a cover ?
Least liberal bar in town, still wonder why some people still think this is a queer bar. Great if you want to encounter unfriendly staff and watch a fight.Yet largest dance floor in this small town
For one someone put gum in my hair I had no idea until I got in the car and it was in exact for number 2 I paid 20$ and they didn’t play no music I absolutely wouldnt recommended on a Friday.
Largest dance club in downtown Buffalo. Always a good time! Hot bar tenders, and awesome entertainment. The drag show is a must see 👍👍👍
The music is boring, drag show even more boring. They need to invite drag queens from other states or from Puerto Rico, also hire new djs.
Amazing club 💙 👏 ❤️ great place if your visiting to come put and have a great time
This club don’t deserve a star. Very rude staff, that bartender Julia is very rude. I don’t plan on coming back. Too crowded, music was trash & my drinks were watered down.
Like the new set up with 3 different genre of music in different areas. Drag Queens had a great performance and an Outdoor patio
Nice place to go out with a group of friends, very good music and great shows. Drinks are on the pricier side for me, but Im not from the area.
Do not park anywhere in their lot without paying! They will boot your car and charge you $129 to have it removed.
I went to the black party and I am not gay, and a gay man kept asking me if i was sure that i wasnt gay lol, drag show was great
Awful. Poorly managed. Underage patrons. Violent clientele.
Played one bad bunny song even tho ive been asking all night and it wasn’t a song a everyone knew so it was just me.
A GUN GOT INTO THE CLUB AND SOMEONE WAS SHOT. All that security for what?! Two stars because the music slaps.
Scary if youre the first guy there and straight.Lol.But, fun if youre there with your fiancé.She made it fun.
They slay every single time I come and watch… Thursday’s are a thrill!!
Always enjoy my night out at Club M. Very friendly owners plus staff.
