Steamworks Baths Chicago

The facilities by far are the nicest of any bathhouse I’ve been to. 3 levels, 3 different darkrooms, a huge steam room and the most wonderful hot tub filled with nooks and hideaways.We visited over 2 days on Friday and Saturday night. Friday night the line was down the sidewalk, Sat maybe half the length but much slower. I do wish there was a more discreet entrance. Instead we had to stand on the sidewalk and listen to the occasional snide comment from passersby. Highly recommend getting a larger room if it’s available. The bed in a standard is too cramped, especially if you’re with a partner.Not the cleaning crew’s fault as I saw them constantly working, but some of the guys here need to learn better hygiene. The bathroom stalls and toilets were usually covered in unsanitary water, and my time in the hot tub was ruined on the second night when someone crapped in it. Housekeeping was on top of it when I informed them. Get it together guys!My biggest recommendation would be to give some special entrance for VIP members. It’s got to be awkward shoving your way past all the guys in the standard line and having to explain why you are cutting. I look forward to becoming a member when I move to Chicago soon!

People can be quick to throw shade about this place. Ive been to a few places like this in the US and abroad - its truly one of a kind and the best I think Ive been to.Its clean and provides a safe/fun environment. The staff are generally kind and helpful (had one or two times they were rude, but Im not holding it against the group). There are a few levels with distinct areas to mix and mingle (the stairs are a watch point if you had any liquid courage).If you havent been before and youre on the fence, I encourage you to be brave and give it a chance - you might be surprised how much you enjoy it!

This place is fantastic! I had so much fun! There is a large jacuzzi, large steam room, and large weight room—it seems there are three floors of space and rooms. Everything was clean and organized. The staff was friendly and professional. My husband and I will revisit this place in the near future.

I wanted to go to their facility, but for some reason they have a very strange bag policy. I had just bought a few items at a nearby store and they refused to let me in with my bag but they gladly would keep it for an additional $10,... it must be a joke...not very customer friendly. Of course I declined that super friendly offer and exited. Saved me 22$

The worst experience ever… they need to allow you to bring your stuff with you in your locker or in your room. Im visiting Chicago, and I have my fannypack with all my things. Passport, id, wallet, cel charger cellphone etc… and they said to me that I can’t go in with my fanny pack… like really? All the employees are so rude… I will never come back never again. Worst experience ever!

Had a wonderful time. The biggest bathhouse Ive ever been to, there was always enough rooms. Hope to visit again soon.

Ive visited ALL Steam Works locations, Vancouver, Seattle, Berkeley...by far CHICAGO location is the most rudest, unfriendly, sassiest and unpleasant front desk crew you want to interact with as far as customer service. Theyre miserable and hated their job. Their show their negative vibes toward patrons who visited the location. Want to have a great business with the support of LGBTQ ? Yall need to get a decent staff...not necessary amazing, but just decent. Whoevers running this business, wake up one morning and read all the reviews and put a little effort to fix it. What a shame.

Went here on trans night for a first time bath house experience and had a fantastic night with my trans gf and friend. The front staff was nice and were able to answer concerns kindly. Diverse and respectful crowd. Will be back!

Mr. Jose, one of the managers, displays a severe lack of professionalism. His behavior is unacceptable and falls far below the standards expected of a manager.

Wish they wouldnt describe their lock boxes as lockers. You can barely fit 4 American Singles in those things. Where do you put your clothes? Totally threw off our plans.

Great place to come in, relax, and hang out (and I do mean that literally). Very fun. Staff are really nice. Lafey is definitely the most helpful and knows how to get a crowd in and out quick; ask for him when you come in! He ought to be running the place with how professional and efficient he is.

I fully understand that the staff at steamworks frequently deal with aggressive, intoxicated, and difficult customers. I’m sure it is draining and they must maintain a zero tolerance for that sort of behavior.However, the last two nights I have been there, one security guard in particular has been exceptionally aggressive, impatient, and condescending to people in line, even making homophobic comments. These were men who were completely sober, alone, quiet, standing still, etc. Full on shaming people in front of everyone if they couldn’t get there ID card out fast enough, forgot to take something out of their back pocket, insulting comments on dress, as well as name calling if someone wasn’t moving fast enough or misunderstood a direction/request. Publicly humiliating lots of guys who were just confused or hadn’t ever been there before who may have read the rules, but didn’t know the process. I was shocked at how consistently aggressive and threatening this guard was, especially in comparison to how polite the rest of the staff was.Again, I completely understand that they deal with a constant barrage of difficult customers. I’m sure if I was in that line of work I would have little patience for those patrons breaking rules. However, even the treatment to polite, quiet, sober customers in line was insulting and threatening. Quite honestly there seemed to clearly be some level of revelry in having the power to be able to talk down to or boss around those patrons in line. (Security guard specifically: older 40s-50’s, buzzed head/bald) Regardless of your business model, it should never be appropriate to name call, threaten, or publicly humiliate.Please Maintain your safety standards and policies for sure, we all want foster a safe environment. But there needs to be a change in your treatment of patrons, especially from this security guard particularly. The most egregious examples of poor treatment/homophobic comments happened when no other staff was around to witness. Something tells me that is intentional on his part…

Honestly, the negatives about this place is mainly about the staff. Theres certain staff that have no sense customer service. Theres a person, that never smiles, is rude, and talks to people rudely like we’re dumb. I always hope every time that he isnt checking me in. Then tonight, as I was snacking. This other staff who I didnt know was staff and thought he was checked out as he had clothes on and was getting a pop. It wasnt working for him so I gave him a mini advice to help him, but he just flat out ignored me and continued on. Rude. Didnt even say a thing or look my way. Got his pop and left. So yeah staff are Rude.Also, these same people do check ups by walking around and going through each public spots, But they shine their flashlights right in everyone’s face, especially in the Dark spots made for anon play and whatnot, but like, come on dude. Shining in everyoneeee’s faces is just kinda rude.Otherwise. This place is nice! And expect what to expect when it comes to bath houses, for example, there are dumb people that leave poo in the showers, but thats on them. And there are the occasional person that does not get the hint of you pushing their hand away, so just be stern or verbalize “no thank you.” But place is well taken care of with cleanings as often as they can. Shoutout to the latinos working the front desk and check out desk, they are always kind and helpful.

That guy seems worked there for years so far ,but that doesnt mean he likes or is suited for that work station position, he doesnt understand the most basic service!

The primary highlights are their cleanliness and their diverse range of patrons. On market days, I arrived around 7 pm, and the wait was about 15 minutes. However, by the time I left at 10 pm, the line had grown to around two hours, even though the interior wasnt crowded.

Knowledgeable and professional staff, diverse and respectful crowd, VERY clean establishment. Discrete as well, for those who are looking for that.

Clearly there is something going on with the employees here especially the front window. I will never be returning after what I witnessed here this weekend. This gay business should be ashamed of itself and how it treats the people who patronize this business. these extremely unprofessional and rude employees will be out of a job of they keep this up. Nasty and unhappy staff.I really do not usually do reviews, I feel like they take up my time, however this place does catch my attention especially because of the unpleasant attitude of the person who claims to be the owner if you are visiting Chicago and want a place to relax this is the last place which I especially recommend if you have to deal with people as unpleasant as the staff of this place.

Visited Chicago steam works last month for Cumunion. Had a blast, literally every hour more and more guys came from all over the USA. Clean facilities, lots of private places to connect. Staff were great and always cleaning/sanitizing. Met awesome people and had a great time. If your in Chicago this is a must!!

Mixed experience. This was my first and only time visiting the facility. Angel, who checked me in was pleasant and helpful. The jacuzzi was nice and the facility was clean. Unfortunately, my encounters with the other 2 staff members were not as positive. One employee was darting around rapidly in each room and seemed to appear in every direction I went. He was also shining a bright flash light on all the patrons. On one occasion, he nearly crashed into me without saying a word. I politely said “excuse me,” without getting a response, much less an apology- He had then intentionally shifted in front of my path of movement, so I walked around the worker and continued on my way. Upon checking out of the club, I noticed 2 employee work stations ( booths ) with windows. Since I was a new club member, I approached the one that was occupied to inquire about the check out process, but before I could utter a word, the worker raised his voice at me, “I’m busy, I’m working right now- YOU NEED TO GO TO THE OTHER WINDOW HONEY!” I tried responding by explaining that I hadn’t seen anyone at that window , and since we had started engaging, another patron was now standing at that window, but the worker proceeded to talk over me. I had to tell him twice to please calm down and that I needed to be checked out. The worker ordered Angel to check me out but did not explain which door to exit the facility from. After the delayed check out process, and having been spoken to in a very aggressive manner, my goal was to just get out of the building as quickly as possible. I turned to the door immediately to the right of the 2 checkout windows/booths, assuming it was the exit because it was the closest one to where I was standing, and it was also unlocked from the outside. It appeared at first be a hallway, but I soon realized that it was in fact the staff office area, however, I was able to make it through the office to the street exit. As I twisted the door knob, the same agitated worker started shouting after me, but I continued out to the street without engaging. I left 2 voice messages regarding the incident with the general manager, providing my contact information several days ago, but have yet to receive a call back. I am leaving a 2 star review rather than 1, partially because I feel a genuine concern for the staff over whatever cumulative difficulties they may face in the course of their job duties that might lead them to react inappropriately. On the other, as a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect. One last point worth noting: establishments such as this often function as an important social focal point within our community and are meant to provide a SAFE medium for marginalized individuals to gather amidst limited options. Unfortunately, I lost that sense of safety during my visit.

Great experience every time. Staff are on top of cleaning/maintenance and very nice, respectful. I use the gym too from time to time. Excellent weight options and equipment. Usually nobody else in there when I’ve gone. Easy in/out then play. Nothing ever broken either, Nice! Go and have fun.

If you are not local they will ban you from coming in and to speak your mind is also forbidden.🥹Since is the only sauna in the city they are entitled to do this.

Ive visited Steamwork on multiple occasions, hoping for an exciting experience, but unfortunately, my visits left much to be desired. It seems like the place struggles to attract customers unless its a special market day or a big event. Even on weekends, the atmosphere is surprisingly slow-paced.One of the main downsides is the cost. Paying $36 for entry, a membership, and an ID card sets high expectations. Regrettably, I consistently found fewer than 10 people inside. This makes the value for money quite poor.Perhaps Steamwork could benefit from reevaluating its pricing strategy and working on strategies to draw in more customers during regular days. Until then, I cant help but feel that the experience falls short of expectations.5$ Student or military discount

The staff at front was extremely rude and disrespected me and my friend. Then claimed to be uncomfortable and refused us entry because we were to straight acting and appearing. Didn’t even have an actual legitimate excuse. I contacted management but no response…. This place is bias and discriminatory and I would not recommend for the more masculine black crowd especially…. We feel discriminated against and it was my friends first time…. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone. People have died in there from drugs be we made them uncomfortable. Make that sense. I’ve already told everyone I know not to patron there. This is unacceptable and very demeaning to non flamboyant gays. I have looked into actions I can take and I will be taking them. I’ve been a member for 5trs, I decided to go visit steamworks one Sunday morning to relax and Enjoy my morning. I have never ever caused any conflict, disagreements. On this Sunday morning, the staff did not let me enter. I was told to come back another day, because my skin tone is brown. I waa checked thoroughly, waistband checked. When it was discovered I had no weapons, I was still denied entry..although I’ve been coming there for many years. I was told I’m not trusted (because I was black) I have contacted a lawyer (about discrimination) and I’m waiting on ch 7 to contact me. I’m hurt that people still feel that way in 2023. The company just a loyal customer. If u are black/brown, ur type is not welcome at this establishment

For logic that defies running a profitableand LGBTQI+ friendly business, the front of house employee I encountered at this sauna was among the rudest and most uncivil I’ve encountered anywhere in the world.My partner and I didn’t get past reception. The employee there was uppity and sarcastic from the get-go, informing us we were asking the wrong questions after we asked the cost of entry.He then refused to accept my digital ID (government issued) as a condition of entry: “company policy” to accept only hard copy ID, said he, even though I offered to leave with him my smart phone with the digital ID on it. He thrust the said company policy at me, which made no mention of a requirement for hard copy ID. No requirement was referenced on the Steamworks website. This guy was being arbitrary, and was clearly enjoying being difficult.Despite having made the 6km trip to the sauna from Streetville - international visitors to Chicago - it was obvious this man enjoyed making a polite couple, prepared to do what we could to comply with transparent requirements, uncomfortable and disappointed.This behaviour is not only capricious and indulgent, it’s bad for business also. We’ll be sure to let our friends who travel to Chicago know about this bad experience, and Steamworks’ acceptance of it

Was there yesterday. Lawrence was at the front desk. Very polite and courteous. Couldnt have been nicer. Excellent employee. Place is always super clean. Sometimes crowded. Sometimes not. Depending what part of the day you get there. Overall great experience.

Every gay man needs to visit here. I feel I went in a boy and came out a man as I stepped in for the first time during the bear event today. It was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Wonderful men all around. Learned a lot about myself and my body in here. Free pizza was awesome. Vending machines a bit pricey so plan for this, but they do take cards so that was nice. I WILL be back next month!

The front desk staff are super rude for no reason!!! I’m sure not all of them but the one checking me in was extremely rude, unfriendly and I even got nervous because he was so intimidating, then the guy that check me out was also a rude sassy queen that was annoyed with everyone for no reason, how about they go home if they hate their job so much ??

The facility itself is nice, and experiences are either boring or really amazing--depends on the night. However, two workers (that I have encountered over the past year) at check in, one of which seems to be the boss, are incredibly rude. If you do anything even remotely small that they dont like, theyll lash out. It happened to me once and Ive seen it happen to other guys in line. A friendly welcome is not always offered. They definitely need nicer management.

Paid $250 for a 6 month VIP membership. AP membership. Tonight when I arrived I was asked to display all of the contents of my bag on the counter for everyone to see which was strange and must have been a new policy. After I emptied the contents of my bag (Alfonso) said something about me telling him how to do his job? Then made me empty my bag again which I did all for him to slide my card and Id be back to me saying I was acting entitled and was not welcome in at all when he was working.I guess this is the type of behavior you can expect to receive even if you are Vip member at this establishment. I would like management to reach out to me because not only was this embarrassing and uncalled for it seemed somewhat discriminatory. The time is 1128 on SundayOctober 9th so if you need to check the footage so youre up to speed with the situation that be great.

Whats wrong with the staff?I like the Steamworks setup - its clean and has great ammendities like the hottub and for me as an athlete the gym.So I wanted to use Steamworks for a workout before hitting the bath. I brought my powerlifting shoes, wristbands, a sauna kilt and slippers in a string bag. I showed everything at the entry and there was no complaint or even a remark. I met with a friend, we worked out for an hour and hit the water-fun for another hour - all fine and happy.But when we left i got harshley called out by the counter-staff that i m not allowed to bring my staff in. WHEN I WANTED TO LEAVE! WITH THE OTHER STAFF MEMBER WHO LET ME IN STANDING NEXT TO THE STAFF-KAREN. Not only once but three times i got called out You have to listen to me..., till even the people behind me interacted - in support of me.No wonder that it was the same staff member which we asked before in the gym, if we should desinfect the benches after we worked out, and this person teached us harsh that this is not neccessary as the benches are wiped down once a day... And that this is the reason that nothing to wipe down is provided.If you want to steer people to not enter, do that before you take the money. Or teach your staff what the difference between entering and leaving after 2 hours in your shop is. Or give the special team member a day of so they can recharge their customer care battery. And maybe tell your staff about the drawstringbag-five items policy on your website, and at your counter.Nice establishment - sub par service.

Very rude and unprofessional. I went there to celebrate new years eve. They arbitrarily decided to make the booster shot required starting 12/31/21 at 4pm but did no mention of this on their website. It was my first time going there and I read their website carefully. I brought this up to the person at the counter but they told me to f... off. This folks definitely need to work on their people skills...

Zero Hospitality we got kicked out from that place cause we drink a bit in boystown,to be honest who doesn’t drink on the weekends maybe because we are asian ….that’s my second thought!!! …only because my friend responded late when they called him,the host judge us already…no thanks! Treat us fair!!

The reviews about rude treatment are all true. They really do go out of their way alienate people. Its like you have to be part of a clique and know the secret handshake to get in. I travel all over the US and visit bath houses in every city Im in...never seen anything this ignorant.

Visited for Cumunion in October 21 and had a great time. Was there a couple weeks ago and only had an ok time. Place not too busy on a Saturday night. Got my booster shot and they only required vaccine status card. Hopefully things get back to their normal busy fun.

AMAZING Service by Alphonso who checked me in. He was Super sweet, friendly & Helpful. He is always Super nice to me & Im practically Deaf & I cant wear my hearing aids there & yet he is Super nice & Helpful in every way everytime he sees me. Went yesterday afternoon and had a great time! It was busy with all sorts of men there looking to play. I had fun with several of them. The facilities are very nice! Much nicer than other bathhouses I’ve been to. When I return to Chicago I’ll definitely come back to Steamworks. I also worked out in the weight room before playing, and the equipment is top notch and well maintained. I wish there were more of these bathhouses around the country.

Be warned! You cannot bring your bag here. If you have a laptop with you after a day of work, or you want to bring any equipment for the gym, or if you’re just out in the city for the day with a portable charger and a bottle of water or a hook or whatever like a normal human being they’ll refuse you entry. You have to make a special trip just for steamworks from home in order to leave everything behind.Bizarre and massively inconvenient policy. Since I commute to the office on the train across town, I can no longer drop in here casually. If allowing bags inside is such a massive issue for them, they obviously should at least provide a station to lock your bag behind the counter or outside or something. Terrible business decision and implementation.

Went here after arc music festival. First they barred my entrance due to having a water hydration pack. Weird rule but ok. I ditched the pack and returned 5 mins later. Then was refused entry due to being high. This was ridiculous. I am a rave mom and literally take care of high people. Also most people who go here are also drunk. Now I am on the trans spectrum as photoed below so can understand not allowing trans persons especially in the segregated and toxic masculinity neighborhood that is boys town into their bath house. However they were really rude and accused me of being high which was unfortunate. Also am sad that normies are not accepting of rave culture get with it steam works Chicago

Rude staff, mean, insolent. Refused entrance and accused of being drunk. Hadnt had any alcohol in over 24 hours. Apparently fire marshal had just raided the place for being over capacity. They had to kick everyone out and let everyone in over again. By the time I got there I guess they had run fresh out of common decency and civility. Bad business practices and poor capacity management are no excuse to be so rude and mean. All the other 1 star review nailed it. Poor management failing at customer service miserably. Your time and money are better spent elsewhere, where your business might be appreciated and respected. I may be a professional hustler, but at least I know what professional courtesy and good manners are.

After waiting for a while, the man at front desk told us that bags were not allowed.He told us to go out in the street to find a piace such as bars where to keep and lock the bags (you are in a gay area, he David) There is no place where you can leave bags outside, no bars, no places at all. Question? Didn’t He know that??? Insteat of leaving future clients hanging around like foolish….could not get in….

Gave It A Second Chance Place Was Decent. Pretty Big Alright. Staff On The Other Hand Wasnt All That Being My First Time He Wasnt That Very Welcoming (Jordan) And The Energy Was Off From Him Made Things Very Uncomfortable. Therefore The 3 Stars.

This is a well run, respectable place (in relation to what guys go there to do). Clean, friendly, professional. I loved the hot tub. I highly recommend walking around and seeing the place before making eye contact. Wet and dry saunas too. Its worth stopping even if you just want to relax.Aside from that the clientele was all ages shapes and sizes. Definitely should be able to find something you like to play with there and I was there on a Monday morning and Wednesday evening. Generally not prime time cruising, but the place had good numbers in attendance. Guess it helps to be in a big city like Chicago.Thanks for a wonderful visit! Will definitely be back when visiting the area.

The staff here are rude as hell. They cant maintain a pleasant attitude for a whole 40 seconds to check you in. The place pretty clean and fun once you get past the trolls at behind the front desk. Upon checking out they just slide your stuff at you full speed so flies to the ground, the guy was gone in a split second not even noticing. If you decide to go here, dont let them kill your mood, they are just miserable people.

My first time at Steamworks was Tuesday night. I had avoided it for too many years. I finally go and I am so glad. I will be returning. I need to experience a weekend . I told the clerk I was a newbie and he was a very nice helpful guy. He gave me a welcome kit, and took care of me. The music was pretty incredible, the place was clean, the men diverse. Without giving details, I got what I came for and more.

Ive been going to this place back when it was called, The Unicorn, so Im unbiased in my former love for the place. Well on Sunday that love ended after their employee Alfonzo was rude and aggressive with me. I checked out by him and walked out the first set of doors then I saw a poster by the exit door showing the performers that were going to be there for Market Days and snapped a pic. Alfonzo bangs on the glass and yells delete that pic, I said or what? He replies, Or youll be 86d from the club for good. I say thats fine, then he calls me a Fat B*tch and walks back to the front. I stand there in shock for a moment that an employee would curse at me and call me names over taking a picture of a damn poster. I left feedback on their website and no response, Im not interested in going back. As I can see this place is run by rude people based on the bad reviews. It was a fun place, but treating customers like this is unacceptable.

I had avoided this place for years because of all the negative stigma associated to a bathhouse. After going my first time I really liked the place. The atmosphere was not at all what I expected. Theres so many things to do from simply relaxing, to working out, or just simple fun. Theres so many different type of men that go aswell. Men that would appeal to all, we all have different taste. Very clean place. Men are normally respectful when you say no. Staff is very nice. Make sure to stop by and check this place out!!!

Ive been to the Seattle location and worked in the Vancouver one briefly. This one is by far the best of the three had an awesome time here and wish Id had more time to explore. The built in hot tub was awesome with all the little alcoves to sit in and relax ... Excellent. Very clean and staff do a great job of maintaining the washrooms and wet areas.

Unbelievable. They do not admit people for no reason. Staff rude especially tonight at 7 pm the receptionist was horrible. He was like a policeman . Not even in prison would they treat you that way. Is this the way to treat overseas visitors? I m shocked. I sent an email. I m waiting for a reply from the ownership.

After planning my trip here over IML I have to say the staff was overworked on Friday and Saturday night. Sunday I decided to go after the black and blue ball and apparently if you have had any alcohol at all you have leave and come back two hours later. The security guard talked to me and said I was polite and cooperative and brought me back in and then the jerk behind the front desk said 24hours. Worst part is I had one double long island and felt a small buzz but was completely sober. Please standardize an alcohol screen, I would have passed it. Do not buy the black card. It provides no discount to general admission.

I went for the first time,really was surprised on how clean it was. Had no problem getting attention, just kept the door open while laying on my stomach. Stayed there for 4-5 hours,great experience, will do it again and spread the news,great job guys ,thank-you:)

This place condemns substances or any kind, when in fact everything goes behind the scenes. Also promotes safe sexual practices. However, nothing further from the truth. DOBLE STANDARDSManagement is very unprofessional (Nirmalpal ). Never replies to emails or bothers to return phone calls. I find it amusing, how someone like him, who pretends to be an operations director of a “health club”, enjoys exercising power over people. That is very ungracious and unkind, to say the very least…Under your supervision, you allow your staff to be rude to folks who just want to have a good time. See previous reviewers...

I did not have a good time. The staff was very rude to me. This asian guy kept asking if I was ok he seemed to think I was drunk. ( I dont drink) I had just driven 7 hrs to get there. I was tired. He then searched my bags and confinscated my advil cold and sinus which was still in the packaging they considered that drugs . I asked to speak to the manager and was given a busi ess card. Terrible service. I was denied entry because of my prescription bottle of Descovy for PrEP. Apparently it is their policy discourage proper adherence to antiretrovirals.I used to love this place. Now, seeing their apparent disdain of healthcare that prevents the spread of HIV, I won’t be returning.

Ive been frequent visitor of this place, the place is clean and neat as always. Tonight it happens that this personal was more than rud. This guy names Charles and the other guy in this shift didnt let me in arguing that I was intoxicated when Im coming from work to have some relaxed time.. It really bothers me bc this is the first time I see this two guys..

The front desk was extremely rude and did not refund my money. I will never visit steamworks again. Very unprofessional front desk staff. He told me he would refund my money and never gave it back. I tried to call management and I never got a response.

I had a wonderful time, I never knew life could be so pleasurable, sweet DJ. clean environment, huge hot tube with privacy sections, 3 super floors to explore, condoms are totally free, and mirrors on the ceiling in each privacy room, amazingly discrete.

Management feels entitled to revoke memberships on a whim...Not at all recommend anymore 😕Poppers are allowed as legal drugs, even though they claim to be a drug free place.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS NEED TO LEARN HOW TO RESPECT PEOPLE.I visited steam works last night. While standing in line I seen the staff literally being rude to people waiting to get in. I brought a friend with me and was paying for his way to get in. I paid for myself first and then said that I was paying for my friend. The representative flipped out - literally queened out and made me go inside and made me give my credit card to my friend and wait. He was a total “ ASS”

It’s a great clean place that’s to have fun and relieve some stress lol. However, the staff is so unfriendly !!! In addition, I called to see when does my membership expire so I won’t have to travel and waste my gas and was told they can’t tell me that over the phone, definitely not accommodating.

Huge bath house in boystown. It is huge with over four floors with private rooms, dark rooms, mazes and a large jacuzzi and steam room. It’s pretty reasonably priced to get it. Weekends are busy. Went over market days which was packed with a lot of hot guys. Then went on a Sunday on a quiets weekend and it was pretty quiet. The place is kept pretty clean and there are vending machines woth drinks and lube.

I LOVE Steamworks, and the staff is usually really respectful and efficient. However, the last few times Ive been, my check-in has been quite invasive and the clerk that has inspected my bag has been quite disrespectful(leaving pill bottles uncapped, demanding to see my cigarettes if theres a lighter in my bag, ravaging through my belongings without putting them back, etc...) I totally understand the need for bag checks and safety is priority #1. BUT There should be at least some shred of care when rifling through a customers belongings. I have felt like a drug smuggler when bringing Advil and Truvada(my perscription) in a pill carrier. Otherwise- Steamies is a clean, fun, sexy place that is #1 on my list to bring visiting gays. Please just find a happy medium between police raid and apathetic glance when it comes to searching my bag. Besides that: Keep up the great facilities!

My first time visiting SteamWorks was in 2006 for Market Days, now that I live closer I go more often.The staff is friendly professional and whether you are there for a few hours or a whole day, its a great place to play.The grotto style hot tub is better than any of the other bathhouses I have been too. The guys that cum here are nice and respectful. I highly recommend checking this place out if youre in the Chicago Boystown Area. Will be going back again this year for Market Days.

Got told by local not to talk or laugh in line, thought it was a joke, turned out in being told to go out and come back after an hour cos we where talking and laughing n line, maybe the staff thought we where drunk. Not the warmest welcome if Im honest.

Was told when I visited back in 2003 that it was the cleanest one in town. Never made it to the others but have been to a few around the country and I can definitely say that it was the cleanest and most populated that I have been to since.

The third floor of this historic bath house has one of the cleanest gyms you will ever visit. Meanwhile while small in size the equipment is complete and well maintained Machines, free weights, dumbells, treadmills all are clean and allow a Serious Workout. Many of the serious guys here use the 2 hour Gym Rat program.When finished working out, the 1st floor has the citys most emense and intense steam room and a sprawling hot tub with dozens of wall jets to relieve the tightened muscles from your workout.Oh and if you are gay n horny, there is plenty to entertain you on the 2nd floor! Today, Tuesday morning, I decided to visit this place, in Chicago, but the young man who served me was not very kind to me, I did not like the way he explained the membership policies, he was very rude, thats why I decided not to. There are 2 of us arriving with 1 backpack and we are denied access. A person walks in front of us with a gym bag and he can go inside. After negotiation we were asked to pay $31 instead of the $21 displayed. Even better, you have to pay $5 extra for the backpack.You are taken for pigeons from the moment you enter.Even the person who came in front of us didnt understand why we were denied access.
