Love this place! The live music is the USP and the bands are versatile. They play all the instruments in rotation and the song selection is excellent. They even take requests...but requests with an advance tip seem to get priority. The food is great for a bar, especially their fries. If youre looking for a great night out after dinner, you cant go wrong. PRO TIP: They have a $5 cover but the hotels close by give you coupons for free entry. Just walk into the lobby and ask for one!
Drew, Marilyn and the rest of the team at Howl at the moon were absolutely incredible! It feels like being at an interactive concert with all of your favorite songs, and the atmosphere is an absolute party! Make sure to tip these amazing folks well to get your song at the front of the line, they are incredible❤️
Really fun spot if you’re going with a group. Good music, and honestly more packed than any piano bar I had been at in the past. With such a big crowd there wasn’t as much back and forth between the acts and the audience…but they took requests and the music was fun. The bartenders were working hard and the service at the bar was great even with a big crowd.
Went for New Years. Place was packed, but everyone had fun. The staff were fabulous 👌. We had 2 female servers who couldnt have been quicker, and even friendly dodging all the people. The entertainers were fabulous and energetic. I would definitely recommend buying the $150 pkg that lets you in at 7pm and guarantees a table. It includes 3 drinks and quite a few appetizers which were good. It gets very loud, but its not to be helped. Lots of security and they really patrolled the front door. It was fun!
We came for my Bachelorette party and had the best time ever! Staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating, our server was amazing and kind, the Jello-shot girl was also great. We ordered pizza, tater tots and mac and cheese, it all came out quickly (the bar was packed, so we were surprised) and it was very tasty. There were ten people in my party and we all said we will 100% be back to Howl at the Moon next time we visit Chicago!
This was my first time visiting a Hotel at the Moon. Live music was great. The musicians did really well. Kept the crowd energized. Getting drinks wasnt a hassle nor were they very over priced. They tasted great too. Definitely enjoyed myself and will go back!
If you are looking for something fun to do and enjoy live music, definitely put Howl at the Moon on your list. Not only are they dueling pianos, but they have a full band with guitars and drums. If you are just walking in, try to get there early as lots of the tables are reserved for parties. Also, be prepared to spend a pretty penny if you stay for awhile. Its well worth it though, and with the size of the crowd our server was AMAZING and he was super polite, came back often and kept us supplied with not only drinks, but water. We only had the pretzel (while was HUGE) but only mediocre. We stayed for 5 hours and had the time of our lives!!
Very impressive band playing Thursday 8/24. Men and women band members constantly singing and playing interchangeably between piano, drums and bass with a wide variety of songs for hours without rest breaks.Server for our VIP area was so attentive and friendly despite the weak drinks. Mens restroom all the way downstairs on the left of the entrance with an attendant.
Best piano bar in downtown. This is located just down the street from Andy’s which makes for serious competition, but a totally different vibe.I’ve been here for my birthday and to celebrate my sister’s and had a great time on both occasions. These musicians are phenomenal, they play multiple instruments, have great personalities, and can sing just about anything. The wine - yeah, I know, who goes here for wine, isn’t the worst, but not that great either. They should consider getting a better option, but the performance more than makes up for it.The staff are also super friendly. Shout out to Christine for making my birthday there fun and for the gummy bear shot!!While all the performers are incredibly entertaining to watch, Miriam really stands out. Her performances of some really iconic songs (Creep, Don’t Stop Believing, Hallelujah, etc..) made you feel like you were attending a professional concert. We love coming here to celebrate and enjoy all the great music that you can sing along to. Amazing vibe!!
Great Piano bar. We had so much fun, the band was amazing and the waitress was good caring of us guys. The only thing which is bothering me is the upstairs restroom. We will come back for sure
The concept of dueling pianos has clearly been lost on the concept here. Nothing more than a cover band bar, with the odd piano song. So disappointing. The staff are talented, but I am not sure people are at a piano bar to see a band... weak sauce
This place was such a blast! The musicians they had playing while we were there were so talented and really got the crowd going. We will absolutely stop in again next time we are in town.
High energy atmosphere with a fantastic dueling piano band that plays everything from the 60s to the most current music on request. The place has a cover charge which I think is fair for the entertainment.Howl at the Moon has a wide range of audience that it caters to.Highly recommend it for a fun evening out.
Bartenders and musicians were AWESOME! My husband and I found this bar recommendation off of TIKTOK and we were SO impressed. If youre visiting Chicago and enjoy a GREAT live band... GO HERE!
The band was so phenomenal that we closed them down on a Tuesday night! Connor and Branden are so talented I’m convinced there’s not a genre they couldn’t play…. I’m also convinced they’re famous and incognito, but you’ll have to decide for yourself. Going on a weeknight was so fun because you can get to know the band and have personal requests! 10/10 highly recommend
Had a great time for my girlfriends 30th birthday. The band is awesome and the drinks are great! Go here if you want to have a great time without worrying about breaking the bank.
We were asked to pay prior to getting our food. The food was fair at best. The entertainment was fair. It sounded like karaoke bar singing. Our waitress was not friendly. Not a recommendation for African-Americans.
Very rude personnel especially at the entrance. Checking the capacity and managing the queue can be done with a more polite behavior and less aggressively. The place would benefit to have better people.
The live music was amazing! Watching the band just jump from one instrument to the next, all performing vocals, was incredible! Bar staff was great, service was super quick! Definitely worth a visit!
Went on a Sunday night. Not crowded. Performers were ok. One of them sung so low that the music overpowered their voice. I think it was a microphone issue. Drink costs are high.
Absolutely the best part of our 4th of July getaway to Chicago! Amazing service by Liz and the entertainment was top notch. Great talent and we’d go again and again! Must do while in Chicago!!
The dueling pianos were so good they kept the crowd entertained, and I could have listened to & watched them all night! I didnt order any food but the drinks were good too!
What an awesome time. Get there early to get a table. Service was top notch. Drinks were delicious. Musicians were amazing. Must stop here for fun!!!!
Brandon did an amazing version of Unholy, I fell in love! If youre in town, you gotta visit this bar. The band was amazing, food was good and good drink recommendations from the waitress as well!
Good drinks but service just fair. The piano bar could have been better. The people were not very good at all unfortunately. Maybe it was because it was a Sunday night. Would go for drinks but not the entertainment aspect.
Food was ok for bar food...we all got burgers and cook was perfect. Wayyy too many onions (and i like onions) on it though.Service was decent for being packed.Atmosphere was fun the musicians are very talented, I think everyone played every instrument on stage. Some of them however dont have a great singing voice. Was fun though ... dont expect them to play your requests which was a bummerAll in all fun experience.
We hosted at 40th Birthday here and it was AMAZING! The staff took great care of us all night and the birthday girl got a lot of shout outs on the night. Highly recommend!
Came for a happy hour with a bunch of my friends and had a great time. Drinks are good, music is great, and you can win a free happy hour if you enter the raffle.
Passing through Chicago and ended up at Howl at the Moon. Had such a great time here! The musicians made the night so enjoyable by interacting with the crowd. I haven’t had this great of a time in a while. The service was amazing. Jordan made us feel welcomed and was fun to talk to. Plus, she is quite attractive. Job well done.
Empty on a Monday night (to be expected). It was nice that we travelers had a spot with live music to hang out at. I cannot truly rate the establishment and service since it was probably not like their normal weekend night crowd. Consequently, the energy of the staff was pretty low, but they were nice all the same (again, on a Monday night, this wasnt surprising). And the way the 5-member band rotated between pianos, drums, bass, and guitar was so entertaining!
The show and servers were great. Sadly there were two staff busing, Jacob and Durran, that seemed overly aggressive in how they spoke to us and interacted with customers. Even before our first drink order was made they were being rude, barking orders, and making rude comments. Their treatment of sober guests is sub par and sadly it indicates they’d be a to work with guests who have had a few drinks or need to be de-escalated.
If you love live Top40 music / cover bands with a happening dance floor, this is the place to be. Musicians here are super talented, moving effortlessly around playing the piano, lead guitar, bass guitar, and drums while singing to songs selected by people in the bar. The crowd has lots of energy while dancing, with most people singing along and some even getting up on stage and trying to sing lead.
I requested a song and waited 30 minutes without hearing it play. When I asked why, they responded, You are not the main character here, and there are others who donated more money. Because of this, I will never come back.
Definitely the largest piano bar in Chicago. It’s in a great location which can host a ton of people because of its smart floor plan. Drinks were a bit on the expensive side but that’s to be expected in any major downtown. I was disappointed that the ladies restroom was not located on the main floor. There was a strong presence of police outside when I was there... not sure if that’s normal. Overall it was a fun atmosphere.
We visited for a hospitality event. The staff was friendly, the piano bar vibes were cool, There was food served, but it was unknown if it was brought in, or done by the venue. It was a taco bar and the food was very good. The dueling piano bar thing looks like it would be a heck of a time, but this event just had a band playing. The band mates were very talented with instruments, but the vocals were a bit off. Nothing the venue can do about that. There is convenient street parking nearby, as well as a parking lot that is linked with spot hero. One thing I did like is that there is seating behind the stage, so if youre one of those folks that doesnt want to stand inside the woofers, you can get relief from the woofers while still enjoying the show.
Such a fun place to be at, there is a cover so just prepare for that. It’s a piano bar, casual, and fun place. There’s a dance floor and tables, multiple bars. The singers/musicians are fantastic
Great place if you don’t get the food gave me terrible you know what’s and not to mention one of the girls taking money for the cover was so rude why work somewhere you aren’t happy. Atmosphere was good performers deserve 5 stars.
Great live music! Awesome atmosphere! Definitely just go you will have fun!
I advise you not to go there.Ive been there in May/16th:- the worst service Ive ever experienced in life, rood pseudo-bartenders, like unpolite and with a nonsense sense pf superiority;- lame food, one hamburguer (its like they cant even prepare a hamburguer) too salty and the other one with no salt at all;- sufferable music, really, its a bunch of kids screaming in the stage.
My buddy and I had the best experience at Howl at the Moon this past Friday. The music was awesome and the service was on point! I’m a travel agent and have been to the Howl at the Moon on NCL which have always been exceptional and this venue absolutely blew us away! I’ll be sure to recommend to all my clients that are going to Chicago 😊
This place is so much fun! Heard so many good things about this piano bar and after checking it out my friends and I absolutely loved it here. Fun and vibrant crowd and they had a band playing requested songs. Everyone was having so much fun and felt kind like you were in a movie. Can’t wait to be back! 🪩
Always a must stop place when in town for work. Great environment and wide range of music played. Musicians there are always great as well!!
Great piano bar! The musicians are awesome and take all requests. Fun time!
I did not try the food but can I just say I LOVE this place! The live music is everything to me! It gets super lit there. Ranges music which I love and their themed events are everything!!!!
Like the vibes, get there early If you want a table. Gone 3 times and each group of artist has been different but they play the same songs or have the same set. I also wish there was more room for dancing, i feel like they get a lot of people in the door and then everyone is very squished together with no room to dance bc of all the tables. However, great for a night out if youre looking for live music
This is going down as one of my 5 star ratings! This place was so much fun, the drinks are cheap and the live music is non-stop. Pur bartender Ashley, was super friendly and helped the experience a lot. The dueling pianos are what makes this spot. The incredible talent of the artists blew our minds.
Great first experience here! I highly recommend going! Its such a vibe & I absolutely love the oldies music 🎶
Worst ever. The bouncer was so rude and they just pushed us which was completely weird
We celebrated a milestone birthday and a graduation at Howl at the Moon. Katie in Events Planning was accommodating, energetic, and easy to work with. During our party, we received outstanding service, entertainment (WOW!), and enthusiasm from every single staff member. Our guests ranged in age from 23 years old to 82 years old, and EVERYONE had an absolute blast!!! We smiled, sang, danced, and laughed our way through the entire night.Huge shout-out to our waiter, Jacob, who kept the night flowing for us and always with a smile on his face.Well definitely be back to Howl at the Moon soon! 🌙
Excellent service for a super busy place. Friendly and safe vibes. The entertainment is always on point. Glad we dropped in.
Absolutely love this place! You can be yourself, sing loud without judgment and just enjoy all genres of music.
Did not have anything to eat. We were here for the piano players. It was fun.
Feel like we went on an off night. The piano player was a little out of key. LOL
12/10 EXPERIENCE! I booked a table for my birthday with friends, after having such a fun time at Howl at the Moon a few years ago. It exceeded expectations! From the initial communication with Katie, the Sales and Event Manager, all the way through the atmosphere, service, and overall experience night of, I was thoroughly impressed an had such a fun time. I will definitely be coming back!!!
So much fun! Went here for a friends birthday and danced the night away. The band was incredible and the range of songs kept it fun and lively! We bought the birthday package and that was totally worth it to have a table to put coats and wallets on as well as a spot to put your drinks while you were dancing.
This is a cool place, but whats a down fall, is the tables are on top of each other. it gets crowded. and if you dont give a tip to play your song, it wont be played.
👍🏼-We had fun-Our server Roy was really excellent👎🏼-$10 cover-Venmo song requests are a bit rough as youre just sending money into the void, hoping they get to you and know the song you want-The band is way way more likely to play... I dunno how else to put this but, white songs. I dont THINK its intentional, but rather that they dont have much knowledge when it comes to rap. Still given their profession and location, I expected a bit more range (for context Id request 5 or 6 well known songs that were rap and then one at the very end that was like... Miley Cyrus or Kelly Clarkson or something. They always chose that one. Other people in my party were requesting songs and not adding a white option and their stuff didnt get played but mine did. We were all tipping the same amount. So... Tf
This place is always a favorite of mine when Im in Chicago, and they really get the crowd going (particularly after 10). I havent been in since Covid, but the 2 female leads bith have incredible voices (dont get me wrong...the guys are good too, but the women are stellar). I was pretty disappointed in the table service along the back on Sunday, (as my drink was empty on multiple occasions and I had to flag down our server), but yesterday we sat towards the front and our server more than made up for it. This is a great place to go with a group, but my team also knows that Ill be going whether anyone joins me or not.
Bar tenders were awesome, the live music was great, and prices were reasonable. The bouncers also made sure to regulate the crowdedness
Great atmosphere. Not too packed. Drinks and good music.
Nice environment but the cocktails were not very good.
Its just the most fun place to celebrate your birthday / anniversary or go on a date or hangout with friends that love to sing or dance!
This place was great! We went on a Sunday night, right when the show started at 8pm. It started a bit slow, and the crowd was a bit older, so I didnt recognize a lot of the songs or they didnt create a good vibe (for example, there were at least two Johnny Cash songs, and they didnt scream good times!). But by 10 or 10:30pm, the place started to fill in with a younger crowd, and the music styles definitely changed. The band themselves were awesome! As most other reviews mentioned, they were all able to switch between instruments (piano, guitar, bass, drums) with ease, and all had great voices. The serving staff were also great - came by frequently to make sure we had what we needed. A fantastic time, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!
Such a fun time and experience. I have been to a piano bar before but it was not as much fun as this place. We really had a great time and our waitress was fantastic. The man singing and playing the piano was great but the women was phenomenal!!One word of advice: get there early and enjoy some drinks before the show starts. It gets very crowded and it was standing room only after about 10 minutes into the show. When we left, there was a huge line of people down the street waiting to get in.You will not be disappointed!!They have an awesome beer selection, food and big buckets of fun drinks that looked like a good time for all who drank from it.Make this a place to visit when youre in town.
Enjoyed the 🎹!Bartenders and staff in general were all friendly and respectful! I did not come across any creepy or mean person! Drinks these days are watered down everywhere so I can’t really complain about that and give them less than 5stars! They got good beer selection tho with reasonable prices.
Did not eat any food, but the place is spot on.They do raffles, which gets you a chance to reserve a table and get really discounted drinks/food. We won a raffle.First 2 drinks/ person is $2 and we get a really good discount after that. I think they call it a happy hour. This deal is totally totally worth it.
We asked Brandon to sing a song he didn’t know and he winged it but did AMAZING! It was my bachelorette party and he made our night!
Posted by my wife La Tonya. I have been celebrating my birthday with them for the past 6-7 years. Usually I have an awesome time. This time I wasn’t as happy. The service from the wait staff was great. This year I felt that the genre only geared towards one group of people. Usually it’s all over the placed. I payed for 6 songs, I believe, and only 2 songs were played. 3 of my songs I was told didn’t fit what they were playing but I heard Eminem and jay z being played. Nor was I refunded. I was not happy with that. This for the remaining hour and a half before I left mostly county music. Completely one sided. I will plan to visit next year unless I have another option.
I just expected better music. More piano friendly and sing along. Too much rap and hip hop, just not the way I envisioned a Piano Bar but hey everyone seemed to be having fun and a good time. I personally just wouldnt give this 5 stars since Ive been to other dueling piano bars that were alot more fun.
Super fun place. The live music team is amazing. The staff is flexible and polite. Drinks are great. I also liked the loaded fries and the hot dog Chicago style.Enjoy
I cant rate the food, because we only came for drinks and music. The drinks were good and the wait staff was very attentive. The only thing was they were too quick to remove empty glasses, which was problematic because my two friends asked for glasses for their bottled beers. If the drinks/ glasses came while dancing, the glasses were removed before they could even use them! It was too loud to stop them even if we saw it happening. So they just had to keep bringing even more glasses...It was a nice atmosphere and will definitely go back again. We had so much fun! The crowd was very lively. Its easy there to drink too much and let loose, so go with those you trust.
Not your fathers piano bar. High energy doesnt begin to describe the atmosphere. The musicians are very talented and do a great job reading the crowd and engaging with them. Our server was attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back next time were in town.
Howl at the Moon is a lively piano bar offering an enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is energetic as talented musicians perform popular songs on dueling pianos. While not the most unique concept, its a great spot to let loose and have fun with friends over drinks. If youre in the mood for some energetic entertainment, Howl at the Moon is worth checking out for an upbeat night to remember.
Wow!!! Amazing performers!!! Everyone working their from our waitress to the bouncers were top notch
Dueling pianos might be my favorite bar concept of all time, but if you have Joey as your bartender, it doesnt matter what the bar concept is. He took great care of us and was quick, attentive, and skilled in making recommendations and taking orders.Howl at the Moon is a fun venue to begin with - as mentioned above, the dueling pianos create an impressive ambiance. The drinks are priced essentially at market for River North, but they also offer an 86oz bucket size - literally served in buckets with straws for sharing as needed. This makes the bar ideal for large groups.
Trendy interesting dueling piano bar with great happy hour drink prices. Very talented musicians. Highly recommend arriving early to avoid crowds and cover, especially on weekend nights. Came here for a friends happy hour party she won - easy to enter and the staff is great to work with. Great place to take people visiting the city.
Howl at the Moon on West Hubbard Street in Chicago is a city staple. If you love piano bars, this is a must see stop while visiting Chicago it just a really fun place to hang out with your friends if you live here. The “dialing” piano players take song requests so if you don’t like the music, request some songs you like! Be prepared to wait in a LONG line to get in. But go prepared! Ok their website you can purchase a “Jump the Line” option for $25 a person. This will take care of your $10 cover, but more importantly, that extra $15 allows you to skip the dreaded line and head right in — which is quite valuable in chicago winters!
Amazing place to hang out with friends. Service was fantastic. Marko was very polite.
Reserving a table was worth every penny! Our server was unbelievably attentive and wonderful throughout the whole night. The music and talent was second to none. Never have I been to such a great dueling piano bar. I didn’t want the night to end!
Very lively, clean and upbeat place. The music is contemporary with good musicians/singers. The food was decent, however there wasnt a broader scope of the type of music I would have enjoyed. All in all, I was with good company, and received excellent service--a great crowd-pleasing place. Would say its more for 20s-30-something crowd.
Great place to unwind and enjoys yourself. The dueling pianos where unbelievable. Great atmosphere to be in while the band is rockin. The waitress was very attentive even in a crowded place. Food and drinks came out quickly.
The musicians were extremely talented and played different genres of music . The vibe was great.
I am unsure whether this place deserves two or three stars. Dont come here if you are hungry because seating is terrible and youll be hungry and tableless. Also dont come here if you enjoy customer service and good tasting good. I ordered wings and they tasted burnt. The reason Ill come back are for the buckets of cocktail. Those are fun and the one I ordered was tasty.
This place was packed. The womens room line took me now than 30 mins. The audience was young (average age 22 or 23). So, as a request based show, so was the music. The musicians were hard to hear over the din of the room. I had a great time but left at 11 because there were too many people pushing and shoving by me. Still enjoyed myself and would go back. Excellent gluten free options.
Chicago classic - can be a bit loud even when it’s not busy, hard to have convos. But fun vibe
One bartender there is trash. She looked at me and said you didnt tip me last time so she turned away from me and served someone else. The other bartender served me so I tipped her 20$. Dont let her ruin a good time. This place is great. Happy hour is so happy!!!
Was very uncomfortably approached by a drunk man who did not take no for answer. Howl at the moon security and bartenders took action immediately to make me feel comfortable and made him leave the bar after he grabbed me. Big shout out to LILY who double checked on me to make sure I was okay after the incident. Will go back to this bar knowing I am cared for by security and bartenders.
Very cool atmosphere. Wait staff was incredible! There should be restrictions on how many low BPM songs can be requested, that was a slight mood dampener. Overall, hard to have a bad time with dueling pianos, check it out!
What a place! Service was awesome! Music was a blast! Had a band that took requests and they even let some of the more talented patrons sing a song. The lady who sang I Will Survive brought the house down!
We were very excited to go here because we heard so many good things about it, but were very disappointed in many ways. Our cocktail waitress was almost ride and and cam by twice. The drink menu has no pricing and is very limited. Wine is only in cans, red, white, with no decriprion as to sweet or dry , and Rose. The performers were very real good but the worse part, the sound system was too high and poor quality amd at time staticky and we couldnt hear the person singing. We did really like the pre-seating tickets, which included, skip the line and rail seating. We stayed an hour and a half, then went to the, always great and fun, Redheaded Piano Bar nearby, which has no cover charge, a bigger, better quality and less expensive drinks served by very friendly, fun, attentive wait staff. Howlnat the Moon is a pass for us and we will not go back.
So much fun! Great job with the dood for our party too. We had a lot of dietary restrictions and Katie and her chef worked with us to create a great menu! The entertainment was great too.
This was a pretty awesome place to hang out at. I was here Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the same song Zombie was played by 3 different girls and I will say that the best version, HANDS DOWN, was the tatted girl with the short redish hair. she was AMAZING!!! OMG IM IN LOVE!!! her devotion to the sing was out of this world.
I wish there were more critical reviews of this bar!!! From my experience I feel that this business is trying to take your money with a fake smile on their faces. My friend was denied for no reason and got her ID stolen from the bouncer claiming it was a fake ID (she was 23 and her ID was 100% real) we had to call the police and tell the manager before the ID was given back. I suspect that the denial may have been racially motivated as well. The bouncer wasn’t even sent home for the day form this bout of ignorance. The service was relatively slow but it was busy which is fair. The musicians didn’t play any of the songs my entire group requested. We requested a total of 11 songs and they only played one of them the others were either ignored or they didn’t know the songs but the songs were popular and high energy so I dont see why they ignored them. I recommend you avoid this business unless you win a free party because you will probably be severely disappointed with the rude and incompetent employees. Lastly the waiters stole change and tried to keep them as tips. They took $20 bills from two of the people in my party and never gave them change for drinks that were less than $5!
This is the best piano bar Ive ever been to. The performers were super talented and rotated instruments which was super cool! Its a really cool atmosphere too, and they had a wide drink selection. We paid a $10 cover per person on a Friday night which I normally dont love, but its totally worth it for the entertainment
Great service from our server and the entertainment was amazing. However upon getting our tab, we were told to figure it out as it was all on one tab. When I inquired as to why we didnt have separate tabs based on what we ordered, I was told that the manager told her too because it was just easier. This was troublesome as we werent carrying cash. A disappointing end to an otherwise great time.
They give you a chance to win a party for happy hour... the thing is, when you get there... theres nobody checking any type of list or anything. I didnt pay for the table as I had originally planned, and that was lucky because the seating I was told is wherever you want... The staff was super friendly, the food was excellent, and the performance was unique and fun to be a part of. Too bad its such a way to try a be slick about filling the seats... you should let your amazing service, generous portions, and musical talent do that naturally. Had a great time overall!
To be fair, we went to this bar on a Sunday. Perhaps the crowd is better on a Friday or Saturday. That said, we had to pay a cover charge, and there was hardly anyone in there. The specialty drinks were wayyy overpriced, and super sweet. They just filled the glass with a bunch of juices and flavorings, gave it a cutesy name, and tried to pass it off as an alcoholic beverage. There was a live band which was decent, and they took requests which was pretty cool. We stayed about an hour, mostly because we paid to get in. We decided not to order food because that wouldve prolonged our stay. We left there and went to Dublins which was very lively, lots of people there, great music, great food, NO cover charge. I really feel like we wasted our time and money going to Howl at the Moon. I wont go back.
This place was incredible. The talent between the 3 or 4 people playing when we were there was like nothing Ive seen before. They were all amazing but the lady singer (wish I would have gotten her name) was seriously SO GOOD!!It was packed on a Tuesday night due to a convention and every staff member that I interacted with was helpful, friendly and fast. I would go back here in a heartbeat. Absolutely recommend it!
Gave the Musicians 3 songs they couldn’t play but they are the top 25 karaoke songs… come on man. Then they told me to give them 3 songs so I did. No one was in the place. Gave them $10 bucks never played it. Place has no talent and didn’t deserve $10 bucks but no one was there at the time. Guess only good musicians are in Texas and Tennessee.
This was a totally new experience for my wife and I and we had a great time. A bit pricey for seats (about $50/pp for the rail with 2 $10 gift cards) but all seats are good seats to the stage. They have staff playing instruments and covering your favorite songs all night. The food was actually pretty good here and the drinks werent to bad either.
Place was fun for a Saturday night. They just allow way to many people in and you barely can see or move because your packed in. We lucked out and found a table and the music and entertainment was amazing. Like I said the only knock is they let to many people in so my table was bumped and Deb is spilled and even at a table I had people almost on my lap while watching the show.
Horrible experience. Everyone rude! Dont go here! We came for a work conference and it’s like they were annoyed we were there on a Tuesday… sorry
2nd year in a row we attended for NYE celebration...and it doesnt disappoint!! AMAZING atmosphere, OUTSTANDING service and of course the music was all BANGERS! Well be back next year!
Had a fun Sunday night here with live music, good drinks and good vibes.
I have been there several times over the years, and it is always different. The drinks are good and the food is OK. You go for the musicians dualing on pianos, they are great. Enjoy requesting songs and singing along. Great for any kind of celebration.
Extremely good place for a night out. Extremely talented musicians. I wish they had some menus and the parties seem more so to pull in more customers but overall superb.
I liked this place. Its fun and of course, crowded. The live music was good, they had a lady as a singer and her voice was beautiful. Our waitress also did a good job. The only reason Im giving it 3 stars is that when I got my drinks there was more ice than the drink! They have a good menu but to be honest they dont serve as much of a drink that other bars do.If you want to enjoy the music I would go here but if youre just going to drink, probably you can find a better place.
I loved the waitress... food is bar food eh. Drinks were good. My negative comment is that we paid for a song... they didnt know it. Then we asked for another, they didnt know that one either.... finally i was told via venmo someone will play it, by then I was already gone. Washroom wait time is ridiculously long.... since theres only 2 stalls available, maybe 3. Unless they fixed the 4th. If you were to go to truly enjoy this place go during the week early. However, its not the same during the week, versus weekend.
We reserved two tables for a bachelorette party this past weekend, and had the BEST time. The service was impeccable, we were never without drinks, and our bride was called up to the stage multiple times on her night out!! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
First time. Great music and great experience. Would definitely go back again.
The band that was playing was great and especially Connor is just an Ehrenmann as he was rocking Loose Yourself.
Cool place to grab some drinks and listen to live music on a Saturday night.
Had a great time celebrating here. Musicians all very talented and the place was packed. A little pricey but that doesnt seem to keep people away. One recommendation: leave the table/rail reserved until we actually leave. When either of us left our seat someone almost immediately tried to snag it.
Great place for drinks and love music!
I enjoy Howl at the Moon, fun place, great music, and good vibes--went there for NYE and paid for premium package and reserved seating. The service and food were very good, but what was less than great was around 10pm or 11pm, the reserved area felt like anything but that. It appeared people were let in after paying the much less expensive cover charge and started to feel overly crowded. I also noticed one group seemed to argue over a bill based on that...My suggestion would be is to perhaps section off areas, it helps maintain a good experience, less confusing and less crowded.
I cannot say enough about Howl at the Moon Chicago! From Katie Sido in Reservations, you were so patient and helpful! To Monique our server right on it..even if people tried to use our chairs or table and we never had a dry glass. And finally the incredibly talented musicians...what a show they put on! Thank you for making my daughters bridal party absolutely perfect!! Worth every penny!!
AMAZING place, went every night while we were in Chicago. The live band are amazing, so talented to be able to switch instruments and play such a wide variation of songs. The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic, we had a great time every single.nighy. its a must for anyone looking for great nightlife in Chicago
I have a friend who absolutely loves Howl at the Moon. I think the musicians are very talented, people are always there to have a great time, and they serve Red Bull which is #1 for me. My problem is that the ladies room is sooooo far from the main table area. I doubt there is a way around this or an alternative option, but it is a problem.
I recently visited this place and had a terrible experience with the bartender. Not only was he extremely rude, but he also gave off some seriously racist vibes. To start, when I paid my bill with a tip that he deemed inadequate, he proceeded to lecture me about how terrible of a customer I was. I was shocked by his behavior and couldnt believe he would say something like that to a paying customer. This was when I was going to the bar to place the order and collect the drinks, not that there was any table service. To make matters worse, when I tried to place another order, he turned his back on me and outright refused to take the order. I placed the order with another bartender who was a woman with curly light-colored hair and called him out on his behavior, he became even more hostile and this woman bartender threatened to kick me out of the bar.The whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth and I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone. No one should have to deal with such unprofessional and disrespectful behavior, especially from someone in the service industry. Bartenders are EXTREMELY HORRIBLE and RUDE here!
Bouncer confiscated my daughters very real ID. I very calmly and politely asked for it back. He said that he would call the police before giving the ID back. I agreed with him that he should call the police . I then got shoved (assaulted) out of the blue from another bouncer. After this assault the bouncer suggested that we pay $100 to get my daughters ID back. I couldnt make this up even if I tried. There are similar reviews about this place below.
They don’t have the buckets as they’re falsely advertising anymore drinks high as hell but the vibe was great. Before I came In I kindly asked the security guard and the doorman taking the cover charge did they have them and he lied and says yeah so we paid and came in so once I got to the bar the bartender says NO they don’t have them not for a long time so I proceeded to go ask for my money back because why lie.! A simple No would’ve sent me on my way instead of accepting our money and didn’t want to give it back. Luckily the manager was standing right there as I returned and I explained the situation at first she was only trying to reprimand him(because he knew) which is cool but no I want our money back we made a deal as long as We leave asap she’ll give it back which wasn’t a problem for us we specifically came for one thing, they didn’t have them so Thank you manager for not being a D**k like the doorman.
Ok, so this place is great for live music and great drinks. You can request songs Via Venmo or fill out a card and give it to one of the performers. I recommend filling out the card just because they have way too much going on. I did both and only the card request was played. Other than that the place is clean, bathrooms have attendants that keep them clean, and they also have a coat station on the lower level so you do not have to bother with those heavy winter coats. I Recommend visiting this place.
This is a fun place to visit while in Chtown. Be mindful, there is a cover to get in.The best seats are up the two stairs facing the pianos.
The music and atmosphere are amazing and so much fun! We had drinks and appetizers and everything was delicious. Our server was also fantastic and always available. Highly recommend Howl at the Moon if you are ever in Chicago. We will definitely be back!!
We stopped by here yesterday 06/11/2022 night around 10PM. The place was packed with people. The music was awesome! Everything was great! That is until one of the musicians killed the vibe by literally pushing an older gentleman in his 60s off the elvated stage. If not for me and a few other guests that caught him, it would have ended really bad! Noted that there were four other guests on the stage dancing and enjoying the music as well. The musician claimed that the gentleman was too close to the pianist but the gentleman was on the stage less than a minute before the incident. The musician could have ask the gentleman to step off the stage or give the pianist space but instead of asking nicely, the musicians first reaction was to literally push the old man off the elevated stage. This is unacceptable and very dangerous not just for the gentleman but for the rest of the guests nearby.
The perfect place for a Friday night! I had a great time together with my friends. Friendly atmosphere and service. The decor gave a cool atmosphere making it really nice to spend time there.
Watch out for the shady business practices at this one. I ordered Tito’s and Soda. I had 5 and was billed for doubles. Explained to the waitress I didn’t order doubles. Manager came over and told me since I was served doubles, I had to pay for doubles. Blows my mind.
Musicians were AMAZING! We had a table between stage and bar in front row. Our seats were great except being hit, shoved, bumped and drinks dumped/spilled constantly by everyone shoving their way past our table. Upon arrival, our reserved table had people already there that didnt belong. Everyone kept tossing cups and bottles all over our table and if you had to go to bathroom, good luck! It took almost 20 minutes to try to squeeze through the crowd then another 20 minutes to return as it was well beyond a safe capacity/fire code. Overall, we had fun, but for a $250 reservation, I had higher expectations. I shouldnt have to tell people to get out of my seat because it took almost 1 hour to go to bathroom.
Here now - AMAZING. Don’t think twice - come here for an incredible night of fun.The girl here (glasses and tatted up) is an absolute hidden gem - incredibly talented. You are incredible - keep doing what you’re doing. Xoxo
A group of 9 of my friends and I visited Howl this past weekend for my birthday. Place was super packed as it typically is in the numerous other times we had visited and we were all excited to have a good time. Unfortunately, that only lasted for not even an hour. After maneuvering to the other side of the stage by the bar in the back, a waitress carrying multiple drinks bumped into me (my back was facing her) causing all of the drinks to hit the floor (a full beer poured right onto my shoe). When I looked up she was looking at me unhappy (as I was too of course after having a full drink spilled on me) as she said I said excuse me. I relayed that I did not hear her because of how loud it was.5 minutes later, two security came and told me they were kicking me out as according to the waitress I called her a name (which NEVER happened). So I and my 9 friends were forced to leave for a waitress bumping into me and spilling drinks she was carrying.Very unfortunate experience especially when you consider we dropped $100 as a group just to get in for cover. Not to mention the unfinished drinks we had ordered. Howl used to be the #1 place I would recommend to those seeking out a great place in the River North area. I cant say that same recommendation will be forthcoming.
The place is ok, its fun. In fact the first time I went I gave it a good score. However, this weekend I went back and the bartenders are some of the rudest people Ive ever come across in my life. I bought a few drinks, left an 18% tip and when I went back to buy some more they didnt want to serve me because, according to them, the tip I left was too little. Btw the tip is NOT MANDATORY and on top of that 18% is a good amount. Not to mention that I bought the drinks during happy hour and they charged me the regular price, which I didnt notice until later because of the bad time they gave me.
Came as a group of four to meet a party that had a reservation. were turned away because the man in our group was wearing a tank top…keep in mind the other three of us were wearing spaghetti straps. bouncers turned us all away stating that their dress code did not allow sleeveless shirts. they called the manager out and he finally explained that it was just the guy in our group that was the problem! i understand that businesses have their own dress codes, but this was targeted. they had checked our ID’s and everything, and couldn’t even look me in the eye. would not recommend for anyone who wants to dress the way they want to
Went here twice while we were in town for 5 days, and this place rocked! Incredibly talented musicians and Animal on the drums was worth the price of admission alone! Not sure that his name was actually Animal, but man was he good! Food was quick to come and the beers were cold. Can’t wait to go back in September!
Really fun place to go to. The music was fantastic and the people playing were very talented, swapping and playing all instruments. Really neat!
It was great. The singers are awesome. Loved it!
On a whim, we stopped by just as they were opening (around ~7). This is a live music bar that has a house band playing on request. Youll get a lot of pop and contemporary music. Up until about 10oclock its a dueling-piano type show. Both musicians were really great, I dont think there was a single song they couldnt play the whole night I was there. After about 10, they bring out more band members and it turns into more of a roudy scene. I think we stayed until about midnight and had a blast the entire time. Ill definitely go back the next time Im in town. I recommend going early and grabbing a table. If you show up later (10+) youll probably be standing in the crowd that forms in front of the bar.
Table locations are not great for seeing the stage. Music is loud. Bathrooms for ladies are up two flights of stairs. Dont move the chairs or bring an extra one to your table or the security will harass you. Music quality and selection was good. Non-alcoholic drinks ex. Pop are $4 each. $5 cover after ~10pm Not great for bringing corporate guests like it used to be.
$10 cover to get in.... $16 espresso martinis that had no fresh espresso and were loaded with frangelico...gross... bar was stupid busy and could barely have a conversation with my wife while we were here... between the cover and 2 drinks we spent $60 for an experience that sucked
Okay place, musicians were enthusiastic and gave a good performance but compared to the live blues place we visited after it was way less quality. Drinks were okay and not really my type of public...
Great place to celebrate a birthday the music was amazing!
