OMG I cannot recommend this place enough!! It’s such a unique and fun spot for a solo activity, date night, bachelorette parties, or just something unique with friends! They have tons of shows to choose from and you can even take lessons here. I went for a burlesque show and loved it! The performers are extremely talented and funny!
Brought the wife for a show and it was phenomenal! Great time with even greater performers! They do shows every Saturday at 7pm and we will for sure be back! If you’re not local, make sure to get there early to find parking. Make sure you bring your vaccination cards. Also bring your own mask for walking around if you don’t want a throw away one from the bar. Great area. I would even suggest pregaming before going but drinks were decently priced.
Absolutely entertaining and so hilarious! It’s like nothing I have ever seen before. Will definitely go again! Go ahead and book the tickets! You won’t regret it!
Had a ball! So much fun, delight, and laughter. Good for a girls night out, birthday, date night.
Amazing experience! I have never met a more friendly staff in my life. Came to see my sister-in-laws improv class finale, but was impressed with the entire experience. Such a fun and intimate atmosphere with people who really seem to enjoy being there. Would love to go back soon!
I love this theater! It’s the perfect size for an intimate experience and all the performances I’ve seen here have been top notch.
Saw the leg land and loved the show because of the intimacy of the space and the closeness of the action. The skits were clever, funny and original. So not the predictable, everyday boring reruns. The crowd was all into it also so the energy was amazing: there a small bar in the back for refreshments. hope to see more shows like this at the theatre. Only negative was it was a bit hard to find and and not that accessible . Otherwise, great show and great theatre
This little historic space formerly named Links Hall is a treasured performance space for contemporary performance art, as well as housing a school for various types of performances. The energy here is virally positive, happy, supportive, funny, and sexy.
Went here tonight for the first time, Peak-easy was a great show! Weve been to burlesque type shows before and this blew them all out of the water. As a beginner in pole, I highly respect the pole work I witnessed. All staff were great and well be back for more shows!
WOW what a gem of a theater! The productions here are always so well produced- the vibe is like a charming speakeasy- and the bar has a wonderful selection and the cocktails are always on point!.I’m so grateful that they continue to require a proof of vax. It’s the norm in this day and age to simply have it on your phone. I feel safe that I’m in a group of likeminded adults that believe in science!.The first show I went to here I was concerned parking would be a beast but I quickly learned there’s actually pretty easy street parking or grab a cheap spot hero when there is a Cubs game..I highly recommend this charming theater!
Very great experience. Anghell is an amazing host and performer. We will return for sure.We also appreciate how serious they are about mask etc in such a small place. We felt very comfortable about attending.
Wow, what a beautiful space! This space is so cool and cozy, not to mention the talent behind running this Theater! I rented the space for a private recording. The staff were artists themselves, so they were able to give great direction on how to use the space, not to mention the amazing fully stocked dressing room and professional gear for the recording! Cant wait to go to a show here!
A great venue to see a variety of shows! Take a look at their website for upcoming shows! PeekEasy never disappoints if you are looking to see some Chicago Burlesque/Drag. Cocktails and Mocktails along with beers and WhiteClaws available at their bar! BRING YOUR TIPPING $$$$
This is my favorite place in the city. Drinks are delicious, shows are always a blast, and the folks who run this theater deserve all the credit. Five is not nearly enough number of stars for the newfound home for this queer heart.
Truly horrible performance at this venue on Friday, March 4. The Leg Show was so unprofessionally executed and the writing was dull as dull can be. Really only one genuine laugh, but certain tables were guffawing as though something funny was happening...trust me, there wasnt. Their props were literally small cardboard cutouts, which they proudly offered to let you take photos with after the show. One actor literally fell off his pedestal and another somehow managed to drop more batons than he was juggling. One costume consisted of dirty, inside-out white tights. I think the tables that were entertained were these actors friends....someone should tell them the awful truthSome small arthouse productions work....this would absolutely does not.
Tonight was something new for me. I had a Film Screening for my Short Film and so many people came that there was no where to sit. Im thankful for the staff that was very nice and attentive to us. They was patient with us at the end of the show and I thank you for that. Im thankful for all of my friends and family for coming out. I love you for that. Th thanks once again Newport Theater!
A true diamond in the rough in an otherwise culturally desolate Wrigleyville neighborhood! I have attended several performances at The Newport Theater, formerly known as Under the Gun Theater, and have yet to walk away disappointed. The space itself is very intimate and the close proximity between performers and audience makes for an engaging experience. Be prepared to be involved in the show! It is, and has been, quite simply one of the better curated indie spaces in the city for underground comedy and variety productions.
This theater is located on the second floor of The Under Ground Lounge. It is a small intimate theater. You can purchase tickets online or at the box office. I purchased my tickets online and then still had to stand in line to get a paper ticket. The theater has a bar in the back. I think all seats have a pretty good view. I saw a Swarm of Spoilers A Recapitaiton of The Game of Thrones.
Formerly known as the Under the Gun Theater, the Newport Theater is a small performance space thats a real treasure! In a departure from Chicagos storefront theater tradition, its inside the Links Hall building on the second floor. You may have trouble finding it, but its worth the effort. They have a terrific schedule of fresh, entertaining shows.
Wonderful theatre in Wrigleyville offering some really funny shows. Improv, sketch, music, and what they do best, pop-culture based comedies and parodies. Not a bad seat in the house, and you can get up and go to the bar in the back and not miss any of the show. Fantastic place.
Went to see a show. we bought the groupon and made the mistake of not calling in advance to reserve our tickets. we had to wait til show time to see if we could get in. other than that, the show was great. we saw comedy against humanity. it was extremely funny and great crowd participation. we got sat front row, it was a little cramped. I will defiantly see another show there again.
Nice, local owned venue with great shows! They always have really good cocktails.
Went there for the Netflix cabaret show years ago. So glad I could check out Bye Bye Liver last weekend! It was a lot of fun and everyone rocked.
We loved the inprov show Dear James Franco!! The cast was hilarious and kept us laughing the whole show! We decided to stay for the next show the first was so good :)
Would give zero stars if possible. This theater still requires proof of vax in order to attend a show. Talk about willfully misinformed and ignorant.
It was awesome!! Really funny improvisational comedy. Interactive show with funny theme and fun music. Went here for my girlfriends birthday. It was hilarious and we were laughing the whole time.
I saw Raks Geek here on 3/11/22. Very nice, intimate venue. Has a bar; prices are reasonable.
Fun exciting experience for us. The entertainment was great both my husband and I really enjoyed our night there. Will go back for girls 😁
New player Has entered the showComics tell jokes, then play video-games against the audience!!!!Under The Gun TheaterBest time. .in a long time
Always a great experience at the newport. Intimate seating, good prices on drinks and unique shows.
Amazing space to enjoy a show. Definitely support this performer-run space.
I wish I could give it zero stars. It was absolutely the worst show Ive ever seen. Such a complete waste of time and money. I wish I could get a refund. we went with a group of 8- and every single one of us hated it!
Awesome shows and a fully-stacked bar. Definitely my new favorite theater in Chicago!
Fun date night idea. The crew are very welcoming.
Great local venue to see comedy, burlesque, and more
Great small venue with unique shows.
This is one of my new favorite places to see comedy in Chicago!
Great drinks!
Great spot
